i just read the commentary on the s5 finale and. i love (/sarcasm) how they basically confirmed that chat blanc and ephemeral had nothing to do with adrien not being included in the finale. and it was just because they had planned the fusion back in 2014 so they just decided to screw up adrien's story instead. and to think that before more seasons were greenlit this was going to be the series finale. wonderful to know (/sarcasm) how since the very beginning he was ment to be just a plot device for marinette to have a civilian connection to hawkmoth/monarch (which did not work btw.) and all the talk about "them against the world" "we're going to take them back one by one until the very last" that we were fed throughout the entire series were empty words. yeah no this might be my breaking point with mlb

I think they did mention Chat Blanc though? Something about Chat Blanc continuing to influence Adrien's decisions even though he didn't actually live it in the present? And TA did say that Chat Blanc was the reason Adrien couldn't be a part of the battle.

But yeah, apparently the only reason Adrien couldn't be a part of the finale because the writers wanted to write their power fantasy ending of Marinette being the girlboss ever and becoming Bug Noire to fight Adrien's dad in the story that started because of Adrien's birth. In the story about Ladybug and Chat Noir, which fed us "it's us against the world." But noooo, ig it's just the Marinette show guest starring that one guy who's central to the story. They literally sacrificed thematic and narrative consistency for a cool fight scene, I cannot.

Monarch clearly made a wish to bring both Emilie and Nathalie back to life, sacrificing himself in the process. Amelie being in that screencap makes no sense

Because in the original script Adrien says this

Instead of the script that made it into the show

Marinette: You’re not wearing it

Adrien: when Ladybug gave it to me, she told me that she…

It just doesn’t make sense, and we’ll need to see if Emilie was actually bright to life in season 6

But if she did, who died in her place?

If I had a penny for every time a story, that specifically takes place in Paris, made specifically by French Companies, chooses to focus on the love interest of the person whose family, specially their dad, and themselves is more important to the main plot than the love interest, making the love interest the main character, instead of the person themselves, I would have two pennies... Which isn't a lot, but its still weird that it happened twice...

And now, as seems to be her default these days, she's in problem solving mode. Guests would be arriving in only a couple of hours, and while Adrien may have been satisfied with the less-than-perfect presentation of the cake, she knew that wouldn't pass Gabriel's own inspection. She had warned him about those new bakeries popping up, but... well, they were paying the cost now, hm?

Retrieving her phone, Nathalie clicked through the important saved contacts before finding the one she was searching for: "Didn't you say your friend's bakery made a cake that you enjoyed? The genoise?" She only had to hope that a last minute order wouldn't be entirely outside the question.

MISCELLANEOUS SENTENCE PROMPTS

Marichat, for me at least, was never sinful.

I like them together because it's based around the trope of falling in love with your best friend. Where you get to know a person with all these quirks, all these flaws and complications, and go "Yeah, I love all of those too."

Where someone can annoy or upset you, but you talk it out and still choose each other. You love them at their best, you wanna lift each other up, but there isn't a pedestal because you climbed up together.

Chat Noir isn't Adrien's "true self" he just compartmentalizes. He breaks himself into little peices that he thinks people will like depending on the situation he's in.

When he's transformed he doesn't need to worry about looking foolish or getting chewed out by his father for inappropriate behaviour. It's still him, Chat Noir just gives him the ability to explore how he presents himself in the world.

The same can be said for Marinette as well. In fact, I'd say Marinette is a clearer example on how the true selves idea is painfully missing the point?

Marinette doesn't have the awful family life Adrien has. If she messes up, there isn't any of the disgusting, manipulative, abuse that we see from Gabriel Agreste awaiting her at home. She has a supportive family that encouraged her to be herself even before she got the earrings.

She was much more passive, but Chat Noir and Alya inspired her. They helped her be a better Ladybug, and grow into a more confident Marinette. There's more...persona bleed with Maribug. She doesn't refer to Ladybug as a different person the way Adrichat did. She knows one persona has more social power and she'll utilize it if she feels like she needs to. It's not an identity issue with her the way it was with Adrien.

Up until Adrien started to realize that Chat and Adrien are just..both aspects of him as a person thank you Plagg ily, Chat Noir was more of a character he got to play around with. This is what he thought he was doing anyway. I don't think his actions as Chat are disingenuous in anyway. He just didn't feel safe or accepted enough to let those two parts of himself stop being sectioned off until recently.

This episode was adorable

-HE WAS GOING TO CATACLYSM HIS DAD! Adrien, my boy. Patricide adrien? Well Monarch is still alive, so I guess you think it wouldnt kill him. BTW, Monarch should have had ptsd from that.

-And Chat noir got hit, so his worst fear is... and cuts back to the play

-Oh the twins were infertile. Emilie returned to try and get medical help but still nothing.

-The peacock, that was the sentimonster reference

-Oh so THATS how Gabriel got Gorilla to guard adrien.

-Also yea, any doubt that they arent sentimonsters is dead now.

-Okay so, I may not LIKE exactly how they went about it. But I cant really hate them for what they did. They are just kids that want to pick someone they trust.

-Oh s***, Ladybug never cast miraculous cure. So Adrien has some perminant trauma from the fight with Nightormentor. He still sees the antichat visions (its not chat blanc, and its just reverse color pallet)

-Chat noir left. before he could tell her. Cause the nightmare messed with him

-WAIT DID TOMOE AND GABRIEL JUST LOCK THEIR CHILDREN IN STERILE ROOMS? WTF!

Okay! This episode was A LOT.

Well there is no denying Sentimonster theory. Its confirmed. Its done. 100% GUARANTEE NO MONEY BACK.

It did explain a LOT about Felix and Adrien.

So I am still iffy on how it was handled.

Now this DOES NOT justify Felix's Actions. He was still an a**hole. And Kagami shouldnt have told Felix. Marinette is Ladybug. That was NOT her secret to tell.

BUT the play that explained what happened was very well done. It explained a LOT about the Graham de Vanily family and Felix's a**hole father.

I will say that I hated how tortured Marinette was during this. Felix and Kagami could have done something less cruel to lure her there.

I also greatly enjoyed Chat noir vs Nightormentor. very good catharsis and we have Adrien going through some additional mental trauma, inflicted by his father (I wouldnt call it Ironic, more of EXPECTED)

I give it 7.5/10

I will say its the most I have enjoyed the second half of this season since Emotion.
