There was little interest in carving a pumpkin of his own, but he quite liked sitting back and enjoying the view of the other pumpkins that people with actual skills had carved. "Excuse me," he exhaled smoothly, eyes trailing up the frame that had just stepped in front of his view, only stopping once he'd recognized the male before him. If it wasn't Nathan Crane, it had to something, didn't it? He had half a mind to rattle off something sarcastic, but the agent bit his tongue and cleared his throat. "You like all the pumpkin designs too? You should get out there and do one yourself. I bet it'd be a crowd favorite."

2024. In the new year, Ahalya was already feeling like a better version of herself. She had always been big on resolutions and this year was truly one that would represent a fresh start for her. A continuation of the life that she’d been forced to put on pause. And things were already looking up. Her father was recovering well, the store was bustling with new business opportunities on the horizon, and she was. . . well, therein lay the problem. While everything around her was improving, she had stagnated, if not regressed, in the past three years. However, with the start of the fresh year, Ahalya tried to remind herself that she needed to be kind to herself. Her life would not immediately fall into place. She would need to take baby steps towards the goals she set for herself. It was out of that desire to slowly bring everything back into order so she felt like she was actually doing something with herself that Ahalya ended up taking the plunge on a New Year’s special at the gym to buy herself a few personal training sessions.

But today was not a day for training. It was her most awaited cheat day at the end of the week and she’d dragged her trainer along after their session at the gym to join her in celebrating two weeks of consistent progress. She felt better already, both physically but mostly mentally. Even if it was something as simple as having a routine that she followed at the gym, Ahalya felt as if she were taking control of her life and improving at something. Yes, she was still struggling to find how she could use the art degree she worked so hard to obtain. Yes, she was still trying to scrap together enough cash to invest in a nice bedframe. And yes, she was still hopelessly single ( even if she’d claim love was the last thing on her mind ). But at least she had a gym routine, and she was sticking to it. “Okay, lunch is on me, so order whatever your heart desires. I’m going to indulge today.” Scanning the menu, it was hard to decide what she wanted when everything looked appetizing. “You know, outside of helping me not get tired after walking a flight of stairs, this fitness thing might actually force me to learn how to cook for myself.” Though at present, she was still relying on food from their store to keep her going.

Why/how did Gully is squarshed?

he is one dragonet from a triplet firescales egg. so not only is he fireless, his sisters horizon and aguille (owned by friends not mine) totally squished him in the egg (and horizon the triple firescales burnt up his side while she was at it)

this leaves him pretty badly disabled, his offset jaw/pierced wings/bad neck make his life harder and were the subject of a lot of bullying when he was a baby.even though his sisters protect him, when he grows up, he becomes really spiteful and cruel and kind of looks for something to help him feel like he has autonomy/some kind of power over others, which leads him into very bad places and gets him wrapped up with all the wrong people..

when horizon leaves home (because of extended trauma at the hands of the queen, and because its too unbearably hot for her anywhere but the ice kingdom) even though they are distant for a while before that, it's kind of his last apathetic straw, and he loses all sense of self preservation..his days consist of doing illegal rainwing scale imports to/from the ice and sky kingdoms, getting paid shit for it, and being scornful

Yeah, I can do that.

Basically, the first known instance of the name Baphomet was in 1098, in a letter written by a French Crusader named Anselm of Ribemont detailing the siege of Antioch, Turkey (nowadays known as Antakya).

The relevant section (page 475 if the link doesn't work properly) reads "Sequenti die aurora apparente, altis vocibus Baphometh invocaverunt; et nos Deum nostrum in cordibus nostris deprecantes, impetum facientes in eos, de muris civitatis omnes expulimus." ("As the next day dawned, they [i.e. the inhabitants of Antioch] called loudly upon Baphometh; and we prayed silently in our hearts to God, then we attacked and forced all of them outside the city walls.")

Raymond of Aguilers, a man who chronicled the First Crusade, claims that troubadours (Medieval French lyrical poets) used the term "Bafomet" to refer to the Islamic prophet Muhammad (footnote of page 497 if the link doesn't work properly). This is corroborated by the early 12th-Century lyrical poem Senhors, per los nostres peccatz (Gentlemen, it is because of our sins) by the troubadour Gavaudan, which repeatedly localizes "Muhammad" as "Bafometz", the most obvious being the closing stanza:

"Profeta sera.n Gavaudas qu.el dig er faitz, e mortz als cas! e Dieus er honratz e servitz on Bafometz era grazitz." ("Gavaudan shall be a prophet for his words shall become a fact. Death to those dogs! God shall be honoured and worshipped where Muhammad is now served.") (It's worth noting that Medieval Christians thought Muslims were idolatrous, and worshipped Muhammad as a god, which is obviously not true.)

As for the latter claim, a lot of Templars were arrested under the rule of King Phillip IV of France, who suppressed the order via charges of heresy, spitting on crosses, idolatry, and sodomy, among other things (page 71 if the link doesn't work properly). Many Templars were tortured into confessing, claiming that they worshipped a deity named Baphomet, who they described as resembling either a three-faced head or a cat (note the lack of goats). Of course, these charges are of dubious validity, especially considering the forced confessions, but that's not important.

Fast forward to to the mid-1850s, and Éliphas Lévi publishes a two-volume occult treatise known as Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie(Dogma and Ritual of High Magic). The second volume's frontispiece (and even the cover of various republished versions) depicts an androgynous goat-headed entity that Lévi identifies as Baphomet (also known as the Sabbatic Goat). This depiction of Baphomet is clearly inspired by (or at least, uncannily resembles) The Devil, the fifteenth Major Arcana card found in tarot decks (which in turn is based on various depictions of Satan in Medieval artwork).

So yeah, to quote the meme, that word isn't in the Bible (though it is technically in the Quran).

Una oruga cree que puede hacer cosas mas interesantes, se siente intranquila, cree que nacio para convertirse en algo distinto y talvez tenga razon. Dentro de esa verde y regordeta oruga esta su verdadero ser, la criatura en la un dia se convertira si tiene el valor necesario. Por eso se siente aburrida e intraquila. Debe dejar que su verdadero ser cresca en ella si desea ser feliz y libre. Por eso recorre el mundo para descubrirlo ella misma y cuando encuentre su verdadera vocacion vuelve a su casa.

Despues de recorrer el mundo no ha decidido lo quiere ser, pero si sabe lo que quisiera ser. Quiere volar, aguil como un pajaro, libre como el viento y tener unas hermosas alas. Y merece que sus sueños se convierta en realidad. Pero en la naturaleza nada ocurre magicamente, todo se transforma de manera lenta vasandose en el esfuerzo y en el trabajo y si quiere volar tendra que hacerlo por ella misma. Tendra que renunciar a lo que es ahora para poder cambiar. Incluso tendra que renunciar a su vida como oruga. Pero nada se destruira dentro de ella, solo se transformara.

Asi fue como una oruga verde y regordeta se convirtio en mariposa, en una bella criatura libre como el viento, y fue muy feliz. Porque tuvo el valor de descubrirse y de ser ella misma.

anguilings (taken from the family name of true eels) are taller than the average octoling or inkling, and possesses webbed hands, feet and gills along the sides of their face

aguilings posses a common trait in their long, tail like hair that has a long fin running down the back. hair differs in size and grows as an anguiling matures. hair is often worn long as it does not grow back after being cut.

hair is often worn in updos to avoid it getting in the way, along with freak accidents that may lead to it getting cut. longer hair can often be styled intricately and into creative updos.

anguilings lack in and therefore can't participate in splatfests or turf wars, but contribute otherwise to the culture through their art, clothing and music. anguilings also enjoy the benefits of being able to freely enter and exit water, even benefitting from frequently returning to water
