edwi.na shar.ma (bridg.erton canon): the great-great-great-great grandmother of rani singh, edwina arrives by accident through the corridor portal with kate and anthony. she becomes an event co-ordinator and etiquette tutor at the diner shortly thereafter.

kathani "kate" sharma-bridgerton (brid.gerton canon): after arriving in new york, 2024, kate falls in love with the new world she's entered into and becomes a hostess at the diner, living in the apartment with aisling, the kids, and anthony and edwina.

anthony brid.gerton (brid.gerton canon): while he's slow to love the new world he enters, anthony does eventually grow to love his new home, and helps around the diner where he can, although he seems to really shine when it comes to the public image of the diner itself.

rani singh (waitress at the diner, bubbly and friendly, will give you stickers and compliment you until any self-doubts are defeated and discarded of, her parents are responsible for all the meat produce in the diner (every slice of which is halal)).

nate jones (barista at the diner, stanley's recently returned son, will bully you for ur coffee choices but also the coffee is delicious and he also has been known to drive customers home on rainy nights).

henri patel (chef at the diner, former rising star of the culinary world until his divorce from his husband went public and he had to leave paris to regain some anonymity. in new york, he found himself working at the diner. grumpy and cranky, his lovable side requires a bit of digging to uncover).

danny estrada (repairman and security guy at the diner, if he doesn't have a cup of coffee or a plate of food in his hand, it's safer not to talk to him. rumor has it that he got the job after driving his truck into the diner to prevent a burglary from taking place.)

stanley jones (owner of the diner, father to nate, stepfather to trent, adoptive father to aisling, husband to richard. literally loves every single one of his squad members. will make you enough food to feed a nation. barbecue king, undisputed. will call u champ and son and honey.)

richard jones (stanley's husband, possibly a former director for MI6, currently a fishing fiend and a man with no desire to spend his great wealth, only to play wordle and complete his crosswords in peace. has gone to many events for his kids and grandkids, will literally fight the universe for his family.)

“When he died, all things soft and beautiful and bright would be buried with him.”A son of immigrants, raised in the bustling streets of New York while still holding up the traditions of his culture. Ajay wasn't anything spectacular. He saw the same sun rise and moon like everyone else. He went to school like everyone else, and carried on his life like the rest. The mundane wasn't mundane, since he never knew anything different. But then one day the clouds opened up and sunlight came in. Armand was as beautiful as gold and shined as bright as the sun. It was almost impossible for Ajay not to be enamored. The world felt so much warmer with Armand there. They spent their boyhoods together, growing up and facing the world together. Ajay believed that they would last until the end, unable to see his life without Armand at his side. They were still young when it happened. It was unfair. Ajay always believed that Armand was destined for so much. The world was left wide open for him and maybe could be changed one day. To this day, Ajay still isn't sure if his friend caught a stray, or if it was intentional. One day he was there, and then the next he was gone. The police stated it was a deranged individual and maybe Armand was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The person fled and there wasn't anything the police could do. With that the clouds seemed to cover the sun and the world became grey. Ajay felt the unmendable damage done to his heart. The unfairness of it all pushed Ajay towards finding the person responsible for his friend's death. The need for revenge drove him. Out of school, he applied to the NYPD and eventually worked his way up to detective. Now more than ever, he feels like he is close to solving his friend's murder.

Personality:

Ajay is very no nonsense when it comes to crime. He is a very hardworking individual, often putting in over time at work as a way to keep himself occupied and focused. He can get very angry from time to time if provoked enough. He is still very close to his family and Armand's family as well. Ajay is more on the quiet side, preferring to listen to people rather than speak. He is very humble and will often shift attention away from himself and on to others.

South Asian stars in global cinema are celebrating a double win as two of its brightest stars, Indian actress Alia Bhatt and British-Indian actor Dev Patel, have secured a coveted spot on Time magazine's prestigious “100 Most Influential People of 2024” list. This recognition highlights the global impact of Indian actors and the immense talent they bring to the world stage. Tom Harper and Daniel Kaluuya praise their work.

Alia Bhatt, a household name in India, has been steadily carving her niche as a leading actress with critically acclaimed performances and immense audience popularity. Her dedication and talent haven't gone unnoticed internationally. Tom Harper, the director of her Hollywood debut film Heart of Stone, penned a glowing tribute for the magazine. Harper described Bhatt as a focused and collaborative artist, praising her willingness to embrace creative risks. He added, “Alia’s superpower is her ability to mix movie-star magnetism with authenticity and sensitivity. As an actor, she is luminous, and as a person, she brings the grounded assurance and creativity that make a truly international star.”

After Slumdog Millionaire, I went from getting food with him in Wetherspoons to watching him at the Golden Globes, within a month—and he still checked in when he got back.” Kaluuya specifically praised Patel's performance in his action-drama Monkey Man, calling it his favorite.
