bones of black marrow - aka that one insane html dirkjake fic CW for a lot of things including cannibalism gore nsfw weaponry seizures just a whole handful of stuff. heed the tags. interesting story story though i read this during work because im not a pussy. Really long.

upgrade - hotelroomservice & rykitty cw for suicide attempt grievous injury err death and fucked up ness. will have you sitting back in your chair by the end staring up at your ceiling. based on the movie of the same name. really really really awesome.

lunar calendar - tony artreactor cw for mentions of sex as selfharm, selfharm, alchohol consumption, REALLY unhealthy relationships, post-epilogue stuff, so on so forth. this fic was genuinely my fucking 9/11 dirkjake wise. like everything was different after reading that fic. literally everything. It probably made me insane.

and last but not least... shag, emotionally devastate - tony artreactor this is up there in the hs fanfiction bible for shit youve just GOT to read. it deals with post-canon in the most ripsnortingly funny way ever and is what made me genuinely love the idea of dirk and jake absolutely taking the mic out of each other both physically and verbally. it had me snickering and sending this to my friends like "OH MY GOD" and served as inspo for some of the facade and points i want to eventually make with LE jake when i get around to it. im so serious i cannot recommend it more.

H+L moments in 2022

I’ve seen these recaps before so I thought I’d make one with my favorite moments of 2022 since it was such a special year for them (and for us too):

1) I’m gonna start with probably my favorite moment (and this was just the beginning of everything) Louis wears the same blue and green shirt for his shows in Houston and Seattle (aka HS) 28 days apart of each other:

5) Ok, maybe this is my favorite moment. Harry, during his first concert of 2022, sings You're Still the One while wearing a rainbow jumpsuit (knowing exactly what this song means to us after singing it in 2018 and fonding way too hard while looking up at the VIP box):

I've Actually Been Sticking to a Writing Task! (Or, the Half-Year Shouta Saturday Retrospective)

So I know this is really not a big deal for most people, but as someone who has a ton of unfinished fics, three or four original novels that are 85% completed or more, and even a few incomplete nonfiction projects, having consistently put something out, even if it was short or even if it was rushed, every Saturday for 26 weeks is actually something I'm kind of proud of.

Readership is not the only thing that keeps me writing--to my eternal shame (because I'm letting people down), some of my unfinished fics have had a lot of support and people who still ask me if I will finish them--but it certainly helps, so I first want to express my appreciation to every single person who has read any of these.

Thanks also to Horikoshi and all the awesome Aizawa fan writers and artists out there for helping me discover my muse, hahaha.

Just throwing it out there, but I'm a Quaker (aka Society of Friends) (a lot of people consider us to be Christian but I don't - we're not expected to believe in Jesus or even a god, nor read the Bible, go to church, celebrate Christian holidays, any of that, though we're allowed to if we want to. Quakers are actually allowed to belong to any other religion, or lack thereof, which is rather un-christian. Like, you could be a Muslim Quaker or a Hindu Quaker or whatever, it's all good (I'm an atheist Quaker). We did start off as an offshoot of Christianity but there's plenty of offshoot religions that become their own thing, like Christianity itself). Context aside, it's literally, explicitly against my religion to try to convert people. We're not even allowed to suggest it to people, although it's not a closed religion. Like, if you ask me about becoming a Quaker, I'm welcome to talk about it, but I can't just tell people that they should do it.

So yeah, just adding to the anti "proselytizing is just a required part of religion" pile.

On a side note, the main tenets of Quakerism are Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship, and in my experience, a frightening number of Christians (my parents included) balk at the "equality" bit. Like, people have legit gotten angry with me about it. Despite the "we're all God's children"/"all sins are equal in the eyes of God" thing that a lot of them talk about, because when *we* say equality, we actually do mean equal.

Also, fun fact since it's Coronation Day or whatever, Quakerism is inherently anti-monarchy as part of the "equality" tenet 😉

I attended multiple Quaker meetings (Lehigh Valley Friends Meeting, Lancaster Friends Monthly Meeting, Gwynedd Friends Meeting) for like... a total of about eight years of my life, and I was planning to marry a Quaker. My HS boyfriend was super active in Young Friends; we used to do a lot of the setup and teardown for the Peace Walk in December and before First Day Meeting. Emet and I used a self-attesting/Friends wedding license. I spent most of my life before 2019 living in the eastern half of Pennsylvania or in Maryland. I know what Quakers are, but I appreciate your thorough explanation for folx who might not know.

I ... have a lot of respect for the Society of Friends, and I applaud the Society's attempts to keep everyone under the same big tent, but to say that the Friends are not Christian is quite a stretch. 89% of Friends worldwide belong to Evangelical or Programmed Meetings, with a pastor and Bible readings.

It's probably more true to say that American Quakers of Friends General Conference do not have a Creed, that some Quakers are not Christian and that many Meetings, especially Unprogrammed Meetings in Friends General Conference in the United States, welcome diverse faiths as well as non-theist members.

I think it's important, however, not to look away from how deeply-rooted many Xian ideals and concepts are in Friends philosophy. Saying "Friends aren't Xian" kind of allows for a sort of magical thinking that all of those ideas - some of which are harmful or have been used for great harm - are just gone. That's not the case.

There's a lot of classism issues in many Friends Meetings, too, especially some of the older ones, because many of those Meetings are populated by people who have an awful lot of old money, and that can give people outsized voices when it comes to seeking consensus.

At least, that's what caused me to come away from the Friends, though I went through multiple times of returning to Meeting because I was deeply Convinced at multiple points. I was drawn to Meeting very strongly by the ideal, and the reality pushed me away.

None of this is to say that Friends don't do wonderful things or that FGC's work isn't often lovely and commendable. I just ... object to the idea that Quakers aren't Christian. Well, no, many are, and the deeply Xian roots of the Society are still very visible to me. I love the Friends deeply (the design for a Publick Universal Friend pin is waiting for me to set up our next Kickstarter), and I'm very glad you find such joy and fulfillment there. I have confidence that if anyone can continue working on the issues within the conference itself and on the greater issues of the world with patience, consideration, and genuine consensus-seeking, it's FGC.

So, in preparation of Homestuck 2 restarting, I’ve reread the whole first few pages.

First I reread the epilogues recap page, then the story proper up until page 407.

It was a good refreshener, because a lot of events were already gone from my memory or very vague.

Which, given the nature of Candy Earth C, is rather appropriate, heh.

And Aranea's ghost 'survived' the Game Over timeline aka got thrown back to the Furthest Ring.

Still, it's gold to have Brain Ghost Dirk be his own self, distinct from ascended Dirk.

Nope, and I don't want to grow my own either (I could see myself become a foster parent in 20 years)

if its okay to ask, at what age did you get into uni ? asking because i had a big autistic burnout + became disabled and had to drop out, now im trying to get back to uni but its all very uncertain and i feel guilty for not progressing in the "linear" way

i dropped out of hs 3 times before getting my GED when i was about 20 if i recall correctly (my memory sucks) and i started college later that year in a liberal arts/history bridging program. where i live you can't go to university/do a 4 year degree program with a GED, you can only go to a college or trade school for a diploma or certificate program OR apply as a mature student after the age of ~25ish, so the bridging program was built to give me essentially the first 2 years of a liberal arts bachelor degree but at the college level and allow me to qualify academically for any local liberal arts university program. my intention at the time was to go into history or archaeology.

i did that program for 1 semester, got really sick during my second semester and had to drop out, then started doing better and also fell in love with textiles so i wanted to go back to school again in the fall to do a textile art degree. but i didn't qualify for university still because i needed at least 2 semesters of college before they would even consider me, so i decided to do a 1 year certificate in art fundamentals, got in, dropped out halfway through the first semester. next semester went back to the first program and actually managed to complete that semester.

got into my bachelors in textile design university program AKA "got into university" finally when i was 22 going on 23. so not old by any means, but a bit older than most. i know people who didn't get into university until their 30s or 40s (and ofc many who went when they were even older than that). i know a lady who is doing her degree in weaving and she's in her 70s. so while it may feel alienating not "progressing" through the steps expected of you in a linear way, you are far from the only one in your position, and while some people can be cruel about it there are others who can be very kind and understanding.

i think a lot of things went wrong with bbg:

1) i think if louis + band had actually not communicated about it being not real and louis actually tried to play a dad for the first two years, then they could have easily ended it by latest 2017 with a paternity test. because they were communicating and all of these "theories" are wild and A LOT of people are aware of this "conspiracy" I believe this is why they cannot end it smoothly because they know we are gonna go "i told you so" and then it's gonna be another hot cup of worms.

2) at the same time I also think his personal losses affect him mentally to be putting his energy into this and that's why it didn't happen immediately?

3) do you think the contract has an end date? at this point I'm afraid it doesn't have an end date and they keep renewing it of some sort.

4) i am a quarantine larrie but i have heard many many times that there were seedings of it ending in 2016 and 2018 and even at the time around early 2020? but after I have joined the fandom i haven't seen any such signs of the bg ending. it has just amplified.

5) altho at the same time i do feel there have been contrasting changes to bg then vs bg now, louis is more involved and the clarks are not followers hungry as they used to be? B's instagram is also bare minimum (just a couple pics of F and i don't follow her so idk what goes onto her stories but i think she doesn't post a lot of F; ofc cause she has her life and she's not a mother)

6) in the past couple years i have actually sat back and thought if im sane about it or not or if louis was actually the father but then immediately i recognise that nope, above anything I know that woman was not pregnant aka no baby came out of her vagina and it's all bullshit. ofc they are other proofs of him not being a father but this tops them all. and it's also laughable how the sisters don't have any other pics of F apart from the christmas stunts.

7) louis can make sony money too, if they just fucking LET HIM. i don't understand why all cruelty is imposed upon him. maybe get harry engaged to some blonde for 2 years (and make him SELL IT? 2 years can do. they did with OW) as an exchange to bg getting ended. who the fuck cares??? as long as it's not bg 2.0 and HS is fully straight and in love with a WOMAN and engaged (maybe bring on the baby rumours too to feed the het fans BUT I WANT THE KID GONE)

8) at this point im just hoping they'll end it before he turns 10 but then ill be in excruciating pain to think that this sweet boy had to endure ten years of this torture just because he's 🌈 and in relationship with mr styles? this is tortuous.

9) maybe they can end it and louis can dip of the face of the earth for a year and then come back with lt3 and be the next big thing. i am manifesting for bbg to get over before july 2025.

10) truth to be told, i am losing hope but at the same time im optimistic that it'll end someday (hopefully soon) and they don't wait for hs downfall (just because he's on his peak rn) idfc. i hate it for louis and freddie, too. the child has no agency, he didn't sign up for this and he'll grow up with a lot of trauma if he's exposed to it anymore (2 years and he'll be 10? what another 2? and he'll most probably be on the internet? this is horrifying)

I think bg was something so horrible and traumatic to Louis (and the rest of the band) that the only thing he really considered was fighting back with everything he had. H and L had tried to position themselves to get more freedom within their closets, and this was undring everything they'd worked for. So it was important for him to show those who sees him for who he is, and sees and support his relationship with H, that it was not real. It's not who he is. He didn’t have a choice when it came to participating, but he could restist, resist and resist as much as possible. If he hadn't, and he played willingly along to really sell it, he'd be miserable, H would be miserable and larries would have left the fandom in droves. He'd have no fans to launch his solo career with. He'd have no support.

I don't know when it will end, it doesn’t seem like it's ending anytime soon, but then again bg could end at any time. It doesn’t need seeding. But if it ends, there's nothing stopping us larries from being very vocal about it and the larry rumours coming back again. L would be halfway out of the closet and dragging H along with him. So i think it will last until they're allowed to come out. I don't know when that will be.

Idk if you can give any insight to somebody who is too stupid to do proper research but it’s been hard for me to make rebuttals/alternatives to the argument that capitalism has always existed for most of human history in some shape or form, like it seems like even the “honor system” (obligation to return a favor) of early humans is a form of “payment for goods and services” aka capitalism… Idk, I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it’s highkey making me not wanna join my HS debate team as it will be one of the topics apparently.

Oh yeah, I haven't heard this one in a while but it's an easy one. Trade and exchange have existed for as long as there have been humans, but not all exchange is capitalism. If it was, then the word "capitalism" doesn't really mean very much. Anti-capitalists are fine with some forms of trade, such as reciprocation-based gifting, which is that "honor system" you described there. It doesn't start to become capitalism until you have people using the wealth they already have to leverage others into generating more wealth for them. You can find isolated examples of that going back a long time, but it doesn't become institutionalized, enforced by state governments (through things like vagrancy laws, or failure to hold corporations accountable for violating the law, etc), and integrated into a full-blown, ever-expanding system -- the one we are still living within -- until the last few hundred years. It's a lot more complicated then that, and I'm not good at explaining things simply, so from this point on I'll have to refer you to the links I'm gonna post.

Even if you can't get them to budge from their position that "capitalism" (using their very silly working definition of "any trade at all") has always existed, you should still be able to get them to admit that the form it's taken since the 1600's is something different. Force them to put a name on that, and then move on to arguing against that. Don't let them corner you into trying to argue that exchanging gifts is bad, but more importantly, don't let them force you into agreeing that exchanging gifts is the "same thing" as, I dunno, say, Coca-Cola hiring death squads to assassinate union organizers, to take a random example.

For better or worse, you are probably gonna have to do some reading, but it doesn't have to be difficult. If you want to go nuclear on them, try Debt: The First 5,000 Years by David Graeber. It's really long, but it's very readable and entertaining, and you won't have to read the whole thing to start picking apart your opponents' arguments, you can jump around. If you want to sucker-punch them with lines like "if you support the free market then you are against capitalism" or "exchanging items of equivalent value is something traditional societies do with their enemies, not their friends," you can find them in there. It's pretty easy to find an audiobook of this if you're like me and find those easier -- see if your library can get you access to the Hoopla app.
