I'm convinced Horikoshi likes to purposefully put Hawks next to giant characters all the time now. Just to make him look smaller (small Hawks hc's are hilarious and it's fun to tease but I still stand that him being 5'8" doesn't make him short). Horikoshi must love to tease Hawks for whatever reason.

Also parrot Hawks? I can't believe this is canon.

Gintoki’s Ideal Type

A while back when I did a post about Gintoki as a boyfriend, one thing I briefly mentioned was his ideal type. So I just wanted to take the time to expand on that.

Sidenote: one thing I frequently see with discussions involving Gintoki and love is that he ‘just doesn’t seem like the type to settle for one person.’ I would just like to note that I think Sorachi-sensei never intended for Gintoki (or any character) to have a romantic partner in the manga.

Because an underling message in Gintama - especially in Gintoki’s case - is overcoming personal struggles. The speech he gave in his fight against Kamui really captures this. 

Gintama is also very much a manga built on family bonds and that you don’t have to be related by blood to be family. In Gintoki’s case, finding the family he never had. 

But anyway back his ideal type lol. I just wanted to show why I think it is really possible for him to find love within the Gintama universe.  

One thing Gintoki is really attracted to is someone’s smile. He tries to protect multiple characters smiles in multiple arcs. A smile is the most attractive physical trait to him.  Ketsuno Ana could be used as the template for his ideal type with his massive crush on her. Even if it is just a childish celebrity crush. 

Friendly, kind, down to earth, and always has a warm smile on her face. Even if it is for the most part a TV personality (though she is a genuinely good person) he seems to be fond of the opposite of the way he sees himself.  

He’s been looked at and treated as a demon for a majority of his life. I mean think of the people he’s close to, all of them see him as human and not a monster. Of course he’s overcome those trials, and became human in the end. Which means romantically speaking, he needs/wants someone who accepts him as he is, flaws and all.  

Falling back someone who’s kind, the man gets thrown around like a rag doll, pierced in the head, and stalked. He would really enjoy the company of someone who will sit down with him and just listen - and I mean he has done that when drunk with bartenders/shop owners. But it would be extra nice if it were a significant other.

Patience. He likes this mostly to handle Kagura and everyone else he’s close to, but doesn’t realize it’s needed to handle how he has a hard time expressing his emotions as well.

Since you didn't specify an OC, I'll do all of them. <3

(2) Do you think you would get along with your oc if you could meet them? What things would you talk about?

Aki: Probably. Aki is pretty mistrustful, so it might take her a bit to warm up to me, but I think we'd get there in the end. We'd have fun bitching about how horrible Danzo and Hiruzen are.

Nezumi: I think so. Nezumi is very sweet, if a bit shy, so I think we'd get on fine. We'd talk about books, what kind of medical research she's doing, basically anything chill.

Natsumi: Probably not. Natsumi hates 95% of people. We'd be able to talk about cooking though.

Hifumi: Yeah. Hifumi's got a lot of mom energy, so she'd probably end up being a mom figure for me. We'd just talk about life and its inherent struggles.

Holly: Well yeah. Holly is me lmao. We'd talk about everything, but especially fandom stuff and surviving the gifted program.

Mariana: Yes. Mariana's super nice and can make friends with basically anyone. We'd talk about musical theatre.

Evie: Unsure. Evie's pretty loud and abrasive, so it would take me some time to warm up to her. We'd have a lot of fun talking video games though.

(27) What is your oc’s sleep schedule like? Are they a night owl, an early morning riser, or do they get any sleep at all?

Aki: Light sleeper since she has to be ready at a moment's notice to protect Gaara/defend herself from an enemy.

Nezumi: Decently heavy sleeper, though her sleep schedule varies a bit from working at the hospital. Early riser, usually up by 5.

Natsumi: Light sleeper since she has a lot of enemies, had to fend off attackers in the middle of the night before moving in with Chojuro.

Hifumi: Sleeps hard. She's a hard worker and spends her energy during the day, so when it's bedtime, she is out. Sleeps in on her off days, otherwise wakes up around 6.

Holly: Horrible at sleep because she gets nightmares. Usually goes in 2 - 3 hours bursts before giving up and drawing for the rest of the night.

Mariana: Decent sleeper, has somewhat later hours but not as bad as Evie. Usually the first one up of the trio.

Evie: Sleeps like a log, but is usually late to bed/late to rise because she's a gamer and a Twitch streamer.

(45) How is your oc around animals? What about children?

Aki: Wouldn't hurt animals, but doesn't really care about them either other than her centipedes. Loves and is fiercely protective of children, whether they're hers or not.

Nezumi: Loves animals and children both.

Natsumi: Doesn't care about animals, the only children she likes are Zakuro (her son) and Kagura (Chojuro's protege).

Hifumi: Neutral about animals other than summoning animals, loves and is good with kids but doesn't want any of her own.

Holly: Likes animals, extremely good with kids since she originally wanted to be a teacher.

Mariana: Ok with animals and kids, doesn't really know what to do with either.

Evie: Loves animals, doesn't like kids and tends to freak out if someone tries to get her to interact with one.

The sunflowers are Tokyo-skyscraper tall, but the bamboo only reaches his hips.

That's the first thing Yuki is aware of. The second is the temperature- dry heat, tempered by the shade from the massive sunflowers undulating in the breeze.

He's pulled through this forest like someone's wrapped a red string around his heart and is tugging on it. Where are Tohru and Kyo? There had been such chaos going on, but now that's all disappeared and he's here. Wherever here is.

Here is where they are, says a voice in his head. That's all that matters, isn't it?

He shivers, still walking; a dream passes through him, or a memory, or a hallucination, of Kyo, dead-eyed and beaten, Tohru sobbing as she holds him.

Never ever. Never again. He won't let that happen.

"Yuki-kun!"

"Yuki, hurry up!"

Their voices are so distant, drowned out by the sound of waves growing louder. He's running now, pushing through the bamboo underbrush, sunflowers creaking above him and the string around his heart squeezing.

Then he trips and goes sprawling, headfirst into sand, hands grasping.

Two hands take his. He gasps, looking up.

"You dummy," says Kyo, chuckling, his grip as solid as bamboo. "We would've waited for you more."

"We'll always wait for you!" Tohru beams sunflower bright.

Together they pull him up, and he stumbles with them toward the sea, into the water, laughing until tears run down his face.

He looks between the two people he loves most, at their sun-drenched faces, and he-

"Wait, Yuki, stay still."

He stops struggling against the hands holding him down- Haru's, he realizes as his face comes into clear view. Yuki's vision widens; Rin is near, Kagura and Ritsu in the background. The others...

Kyo isn't here. Neither is Tohru. (Nor Hatori, or Ayame, or Aki--)

"I had found them," he says, voice cracking. "They were both all right."

Through his blurring vision, he sees Haru nod. "They're going to be okay. I'm sure the medical team knows what they're doing."

"You getting worked up won't help anyone." Rin, voice hard but eyes soft. "I'll get some water."

Yuki wants to sit up, but even sending the signals to his muscles to try dizzies him. He shuts his eyes and tries to breathe, Haru's hands soothing warmth on his shoulders.

"We'll get through this, and you'll see them again."

He smiles, barely. Haru sounds earnest and so confident. But Yuki feels something, too, in his heart; something like energy, like white and orange in his mind's eye.

The three of them have a new bond now. It's something so fiercely theirs, Yuki knows, but if hope exists for them...

If that hope exists, then it does for the whole Zodiac. New bonds, true, uncursed bonds... It has to be possible.
