También un día como hoy, 27 de septiembre, pero de 1930, nació Alan Shugart, pionero de la unidad de disco (Floppy Disk) para computadora y fundador de Seagate Technology. Trabajó con la IBM 305 RAMAC, de donde obtuvo la idea de desarrollar los discos duros para PC, fundando Shugart Technologies en 1979, con gran éxito que, en menos de un año, cambió el nombre a Seagate. When floppy disks were developed in the late 60s the 8-inch #diskette was the norm until #Shugart Associates (the company that made the #disks pictured here) developed the 5 1/4-inch floppy in 1976. Shugart Associates was later acquired by #Xerox and the company’s founder, Al Shugart, went on to found another data storage company called Shugart Technolgy. However in order to avoid a lawsuit with Xerox the company name was soon changed to @Seagate Technology, today one of the largest data storage companies in the world.
