#fafnirinktober Day 22: • “I strode through the mushroom gardens and came upon a stone bridge overlooking a grand moat. Within it stood an impressive citadel, decorated with swirling colors and dazzling lights. This was the home of the Great Wizards, the Watchtower of the Land. I rubbed my hand along the bronze fence. This was where I learned to harness my magic so many years ago. • As I passed over the bridge a cold wind churned around me. It gathered weight and materialized into two ghastly forms that blocked the path. Two pairs of glowing eyes lit beneath two hoods of mist, each bearing glowing swords. I had nearly forgotten; the Citadel was guarded by ghosts. • The pair of spectors spoke in unison, “Speak the password, and enter.” • I placed my hands upon my hips and smiled, “You cannot trick me. There is no password.” • The two ghosts glanced at each other, then parted onto either side of the path. “You have spoken truthfully, friend. Enter, and be at peace.” • They faded from view, allowing their presence to be carried away in the breeze. With a deep breath I pushed through the large entrance gate. I prayed that my arrival had been swifter than Leechwyrm’s. What could a villain like he possibly want with the Wizard Council? I shook my head and remembered my lessons; evil has no logic, and evil has no reason.
