Favorite authors: There was always something about Anothny Bourdain that I adored. I think it was the voice he gave to his work. Everything he made sounded like he made it, and he carried that on from his on screen appearances to his off screen writing. Even when he stopped narrating, you could still hear him speak. Moreover, He wrote with a cultural self-awareness that I respected a lot. He came from places of privilege and entered places of poverty to explore. But he always knew his place and understood the contradictory nature of enjoying poverty. He never celebrated, he only joined in on the celebrations.
