but unlike some people, i do not think that putting even w series’ most outstanding drivers directly into a formula one car would benefit anyone.
w series has some of the most outdated technology in car racing right now. putting someone who is used to a car that barely functions at the level of anything in formula 3 into an f1 car is not only possibly dangerous, but could stand to put a driver completely out of their depth.
no one deserves to be thrown into the deep end like that. give them a chance to stretch their legs in a car that actually has an engine with over 270hp, which is 110 less than an f3 engine. give them a chance to use pirelli tires instead of hankook. give them equal equipment so they can fully grow and progress, as all drivers should.
these women are incredibly skilled. once given the same equipment and sponsorship opportunities as hundreds of men have been given before them — they can and will climb the feeder ladder quickly.
but the fact that they have climbed so far already, just to be knocked down again, is purely shameful. i pray that if nothing else changes, w series is set back on track for 2023.
we need to hold the major sponsors of single-seater racing accountable. we need to hold our drivers in the formula categories accountable.
women have moved so many stones to make motorsport better for everyone, and yet they are still treated as an afterthought.
no hate for sophia floersch but there is one thing that makes me a bit mad about all the attention:
sophia is the first women to race in the fia f3 series so why is everyone talking about that she is the first succesfull woman? there was no competition in that series
and if we take the other series that were merged for fia f3 (gp3 and euro f3) then there were a lot of other women who scored points
Tati Caldaron
Sophia herself
and alice motherfckn powell my beloved (the one that sophia called slow scored a point in gp3 also with the shittiest car ever
I like that sophia is progressing and I wosh her all the best for her carrer but this is just boosting her pick me attitude
Yes Alice! 👏 just because Felipe's experienced doesn't mean he was destined to win. He still had to do the work and keep it clean on track and keep himself in shape off track. Experience doesn't guarantee wins and Felipe's achievement is still freaking amazing even with it being his 3rd year. He still had to go out and win it
