for the sonic asks thing: tell me abt a sonic character that not a lot of people like/know about that YOU like :eyes:

you opened this can of worms, prepare for an essay-length reply under the cut

mighty the armadillo is the most underappreciated but best goddamn character in the sonic universe and i’m about to explain why

mighty the armadillo (right) is a pacifistic, honest, and hard-working strongman who deserves the entire world. and that’s not me exaggerating. almost every single game he’s been in has done him so dirty, starting with segasonic the hedgehog. in said game he made his debut as a prisoner on eggman island along with ray the flying squirrel (left) and sonic to be executed. yes, executed. in his debut game. obviously they escaped and in doing so thwarted robotnik’s plans, in turn destroying the island, but still, how fucked up is that?

the second (and only other, until sonic mania) game he was present in was knuckles’ chaotix, having been captured AGAIN (can he catch a break) and turned into a statue by dr. eggman. our hero (knuckles), along with espio, rescue him however, and he helps them put an end to robotnik’s plans again and officially joins team chaotix along the way. sega, however, completely forgot about this, as in the games he would go missing in action for 25 more years before finally showing back up in sonic mania where he was, you guessed it, captured by robotnik. 

literally. can sega please just let this guy be free for once in his life all he wants to do is explore.

games aside though, let’s visit archie comics, who added MUCH MORE to his character and is literally my life force when it comes to sonic.

mighty is a reoccurring side character within the archie comics verse who spends most of his time travelling or partaking in freedom fighting with the rest of the cast. he was born into a family of thieves, who were sent to prison when he and his sister were still extremely young and before he really understood what they had done wrong. he sought out mogul, who i am not even going to make an attempt to explain the character of, for help freeing his parents, which is where he was gifted his super strength, but he still couldn’t help them and exiled himself due to his own guilty conscious.

with his strength also came INCREDIBLE paranoia, as ever since he’s been afraid of losing control of himself and hurting someone, whether they’re someone close to him or an enemy on the battlefield. this isn’t helped by the fact that he has quite the temper, though studying with moss the sloth and spending time with ray has helped with this.

ok i’m running out of adrenaline but i also want to mention that he had this HUGE character arc in which he found his long lost sister in the dark egg legion where she’s been robotised and has no memory of him or her parents since she was a baby when they were sent to jail and he exiled himself and also very young when she was legionised. he goes undercover and risks his life MULTIPLE TIMES for her even though she doesn’t care about him because she’s his sister and he would do anything to make sure she’s safe and ok i have to stop this is way too long but basically he’s an AMAZING CHARACTER and the fanbase has done him SO dirty

OC FACTS AA.... i made a new one the other day, he doesn't have a name yet but he's based off of the honeycore aesthetic and he has two cartoony lookin bumblebees as pets (that are pretty much just aerial golden retrievers)

BRUH i loved crashbox as a little kid, it was probably my favorite show except riddle snake scared me to DEATH every time it came on. I still don't know why
