I’m heartbroken over the loss of Matthew Perry. But I’m seeing so many posts about him in Friends and not enough of his other awesome projects. 4 of his characters are in my list of comfort shows. I’ve been through so much, and watching my comfort shows with him, has been with me through those times.
Here are some other great roles I love him in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Matt Albie - Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
My favorite show he’s in by far. If you haven’t seen it you should find it and watch it! It’s only one season, but it’s soooo worth it. I don’t think it’s streaming anywhere without buying it, but if you’re talented enough you can find it elsewhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joe Quincy - The West Wing
Just a fantastic show. Please watch it! It’s on Max.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Good Wife and The Good Fight - Mike Kresteva
Two great shows!! And Mike is a fun character.
Tumblr media
Fools Rush In - Alex Whitman
Romantic comedy. Very good! I’m not sure where/if it streams. I haven’t watched it in a while but it was always a favorite.
Tumblr media
Three To Tango - Oscar Novack
Such a good movie! Funny funny and a great cast!
Tumblr media
Ally McBeal - Todd Merrick
It’s a short guest spot for him, but he is great! Plus, it’s one of my top 5 shows and simply wonderful and fun.
Matthew Perry - Studio 60
Tumblr media
Obviously, these are not all of his roles, but they’re among my favorites. He deserves to be remembered for his roles outside of Friends. I truly hope you check some of these out, because he was so great in everything he did.

Okay look I know I don't post a ton a TON about Ally McBeal on this blog anymore but. I still love it. I need you to understand I am thinking about it CONSTANTLY. Frothing at the mouth because of these lawyers. I am criminally insane about this show I have the equivalent of a 4 hour video essay breakdown rattling around inside my skull at all times. This show sucks and I hate it but I love it, it fascinates me like a little specimen in a jar. David E Kelley has mastered the art of writing amazingly complex characters and intriguing plots, and then just dropping it all in the void when a season ends like Andy and Woody in that Toy Story 2 dream sequence. I need everybody to know that I am the number one Ally McBeal Thinker.

My daily writing routine:
1) Stay in a dark room all day to amplify my budding seasonal affective disorder. This helps keep me in character.
2) Eat nothing but nutella sandwiches and drink a minimal amount of water. This provides me with a roller coaster of sugar highs and crashes, giving me the energy I need to be productive.
3) After 4 hours of writing, nap the rest of the day while Ally McBeal plays forever in the background.
Total word count for the day: 333

Ha, memory lane is fun, isn't it? Dark Angel was on my list to watch! (along with Ally McBeal and Due South). I didn't really care for The Pretender, saw an episode here and there but it was up against another scifi-ish show that premiered the same season called Early Edition which I thought was much better to be honest (Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights played a dude who got tomorrow's paper a day early and used it to save people from accidents, stuff like that). I'll let you know what I think of Sliders. There were actually some pretty good episodes in season 4 if I remember correctly, like Lipshitz live (they all slide into a world where a Jerry Springer-like show is very popular and Quinn goes as a guest to reach the others, it was pretty funny).
Dark Angel is super cool and I loved it, especially second season because JENSEN ACKLES BITCHES. But well, if you won't like Logan you are screwed.
Loved Pretender and was pissed off when it was cancelled and the movies were not played in Polish TV and when i think about it, I think I have never seen them.
Thanks in advance :D

Quinn, Raimi, Astin, Ricci, Lloyd Lead Off Celeb Announcements At FAN EXPO Philadelphia, June 2-4
Tumblr media
When fans talk about how FAN EXPO brings together many genres from their favorite franchises across the decades, they can use the first set of celebrities announced today at FAN EXPO Philadelphia as a prime example. From more recent standouts like Joseph Quinn (“Stranger Things”) and Christina Ricci (“The Addams Family,” “Wednesday”) to legends like Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings, Rudy) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, “Taxi”), the event will feature a stellar lineup of celebrities, voice actors, creators, cosplayers, authors, exhibitors, compelling programming, meet and greets, special events, family zones and more, June 2-4 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
And it’s just the beginning, as many additional guests for this major comics, sci-fi, horror, literary, anime and gaming convention will be announced closer to the event. Advanced Tickets for FAN EXPO Philadelphia are on sale through May 18 at www.fanexpophiladelphia.com, with discounts on individual day, 3-day and Ultimate Fan Packages available for adults, youths and families. VIP packages are also available now, with dozens of special benefits including priority entry, limited edition collectibles, exclusive items and much more.
Quinn was the breakout star of “Eddie Munson” in the most recent season of the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.” The London native is also well known for supporting roles in Overlord (2018) and the BBC series “Dickensian,” a guest appearance on the hit “Game of Thrones” and roles in the BBC series “Les Misérables” (2019) and the mini-series “Catherine the Great” (2019).
Ricci, who first caught attention as a child star as “Wednesday Addams” in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993), has nearly 100 acting credits, including as “Marilyn Thornhill” in the current Netflix series “Wednesday.” She moved from appearances as a teen in Casper and Now and Then to adult roles in Sleepy Hollow, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Speed Racer and more and had regular roles in TV series “Ally McBeal,” “Pan Am” and others.
Raimi is one of the most celebrated and innovative directors of the past 40 years, making his first big splash with The Evil Dead in 1981. He is known for that franchise as well as hits like Spider-Man (2002), Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) and last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, among scores of producing, directing, writing and acting credits.
Astin has demonstrated his innate ability to share his heart with the world through such iconic roles as “Mikey Walsh” in The Goonies, the title character of Rudy, “Samwise Gamgee” in the LOTR trilogy, and “Bob Newby” in "Stranger Things 2," roles that epitomize hope, determination and loyalty. Astin’s recent feature films include the award-winning thriller Adverse (2020); the family comedy Hero Mode (2021); Charming the Hearts of Men (2021); and last year’s comedy iMordecai.
He may be best known to FAN EXPO fans for his iconic portrayal of "Doc Brown," but Lloyd's career includes blockbuster films including The Addams Family and Who Framed Roger Rabbit and classic series like "Taxi" and the animated "Cyberchase." Some of Lloyd's other top credits include Dennis the Menace, Angels in the Outfield, To Be or Not to Be, Clue and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
Philadelphia is the eighth event on the 2023 FAN EXPO HQ calendar; the full schedule is available at fanexpohq.com/home/events/.

What I Watched in 2022 (TV)
I was going to fill out a survey about my TV-watching habits, but then I realized...I have a seive-like brain (now more than ever, considering that I watch things almost exclusively on streaming services and have little to no idea what is even currently airing on television), and my time would be better served just organizing the list I more-or-less kept track of throughout the year and trying to make some sense of it.
En...joy?
Current Scripted Shows (2021-22 and/or ‘22-23 season):
Abbott Elementary
Alaska Daily
Blood & Treasure
Ghosts (US version)
Pretty Smart
Severance
Sweet Magnolias
United States of Al
(I’ve got literally 4 ships across all of these shows, plus Densi on the side from NCIS: LA even though I’m not watching it. god. no wonder I feel so parched and/or go so off the rails when I stumble into a good romantic movie these days. or even just a movie with a solid romance in it.)
Current Reality/Game Shows:
The Amazing Race: Season 33 & 34 (but also: on Hulu I binged 23, 25-29, and a rewatch of 31)
Beyond the Edge
The Chase
The Floor is Lava
Jeopardy: the College Tournament of Champions & however much has aired so far of the Celebrity Tournament of Champions
Survivor
The Weakest Link (w/ Jane Lynch)
(WHY AM I THIS ADDICTED TO REALITY AND GAME SHOWS. How old am I. what year is it.)
Older Shows:
Alone (History channel): season 8/Chilko Lake
Bedlam (something British... SkyTV?): season 1
The Chair (Netflix miniseries)
The Circle (Netflix): season 1 & 2
Deadwater Fell (Acorn)
Enlisted (FOX)
The Exes (TV Land)
Fuller House: 1x01-06 (then I got too overwhelmed with joy and needed to save it)
Hit the Floor (VH1): season 1 & 2
Keep Breathing (Netflix miniseries)
Maid (Netflix)
Mythic Quest (AppleTV): 1x02, 1x08-2x04 w/ husband
Ultimate Beastmaster: season 3
Valor (CW)
Rewatches:
Blood and Treasure: season 1
Revolution: 2x13-22
The Office: 8x07-24
Siberia
Ally McBeal: Josh Groban's 2 episodes (which I forgot to post about, dangit)
Community (I lost count because I’m jumping around the series and rarely see more than 2 or 3 in chronological order, but I’ve definitely seen at least 50 of them for the umpteenth time)
Random rewatch episodes in syndication/Netflix:
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (just 2, but so fun that night)
Wheel of Fortune
King of Queens
Seinfeld
Bonus: One or Two Episode Wonders
(with 1 or 2 exceptions, there was nothing wrong with these shows, I just was like "wow this is good!" and then was too overwhelmed or unable to return)
American Housewife: 1x01-02 (still saved for when I need a comfort-food sitcom)
The Big Leap: 1x01 (I definitely MEANT and WANTED to continue, I was just never Ready)
Camp Snowflake: 1x01 (this one I bailed on purpose; it was awful.)
The I-Land: 1x01 (why does this look so good yet move so slowly and boringly)
The Last Cowboy: 1x01-02 (caught on TV; wish I could have watched more! a reality show about reining horses and their riders? DUDE. unfortunately I could only find this on live TV)
Mr. Mayor: 1x01-02 (Holly Hunter was truly That Repellent huh)
NCIS: LA: 13x08 (oh, wow, I meant to watch at least a couple more highlight eps...but really, I am now a shippy-gifsets-only kind of girl)
Redneck Island: 3x02-03; 1x02-09 (bless you late night syndication and insomnia lmao)
The Terminal List: 1x01 (I really did mean to continue, but then Matt Barr knocked Chris Pratt Owen Grady off the top of Handsome Mountain so now we're waiting until I am back in the groove of finding this man attractive under the right circumstances)
Conclusions:
Favorite show of the year is hands-down bar-none Blood & Treasure, but Abbot Elementary is a close second. The best reality show this year is definitely The Amazing Race. And among the older shows, Maid is fantastic and very much worth your time/my leading favorite among them.
Best comfort-food sitcoms: Ghosts, United States of Al, Family Reunion, Enlisted and The Exes are all a warm delight.
Also, doesn’t qualify as a comfort-food one but Mythic Quest is surprisingly entertaining, for someone who’s never played a MMORPG in her life and whose last video game attempts were done on a PS2. I just hate the language (and Ian).
And all of the rewatches, obviously, sheer perfection. *chef’s kiss*

Ally McBeal is the Worst Female Character of All Time
Tumblr media
There are few TV characters I hate more than Ally McBeal, and what makes it worse is that she's meant to be a typical empowered cool 90s woman. We're supposed to look at how thin she is and how pretty, and laugh at her insufferable 'quirks' and ignore how infuriating she is just because she pouts and bites her lip a lot, even though: 1. She constantly bullies her secretary and acts like a mean girl by ignoring her, acting snobbish, and 'putting her in her place' for no good reason
2. She plays mental games with all her dates 3. She hides her problems from her partners 4. She creates drama in her workplace and takes it home and makes everything about her 5. She has anger issues that she takes out on random bystanders, sometimes yelling, sometimes pushing. She also snaps at everyone around her for no fault of theirs
Tumblr media
6. Perhaps the scariest part - she lives with the Assistant District Attorney and expects all her problems to be waived immediately by her roommate in a horrifying abuse of power 7. She's incredibly humorless and hates dirty jokes. Not only does she not find them funny, but she seethes for days if anyone else finds them funny ("That's not funny, there are people out there without arms and legs")
8. She's extremely narrow-minded and compassionless about trans issues, prostitution, homosexuality.... you name it. You could put her in 50s American society and she'd fit right in
9. When a dude gets too handsy with her roommate, Renee, even after Renee said no, she knocks him out. You know how Ally McBeal responds? She slut-shames her friend
Tumblr media
10. She's so self involved that she thinks all her cases are about her e.g. the plane crash ("hundreds of people die and you find a way to make it about you")
11. She clearly spends the whole first season flirting with and emotionally monopolizing her ex-boyfriend, who's married to her friend
12. She is 'afraid' of all criminals and wants to stay in her cozy little safe part of law (yes that's how she described it); is jumpy and falls over and faints at a crime scene, once again making it all about her; hurls insults and judgements at the woman on trial again and again, while also pretending to do it all on accident
I swear, this is a character created by a man who dislikes women and thinks this is what women's empowerment means.
