Full K-Pop Superstars BLACKPINK 'The Album' Leak Download
Download K Star Blackpink Group The Album tracks in mp3 (Leak). Hurry to download. Earlier in 2019, the quartet became the first K-pop group to hit 1 billion views on Youtube with their single "Kill This Love." They followed it up with a sizzling performance of the single at Coachella, making history again as the first K-pop girl group to do so.
Album Link:--> https://www.mp3lover.xyz/download-the-album-tracks/
Along with the weight of the epithet, thus, the title encompasses a vast journey that the quartet has covered in just a fraction of the time it takes established acts—four years to be precise. So, excuse the members of BLACKPINK for taking a couple seconds to reflect, please.
"It's very surprising to us," Jennie says at last. "Every day we try to acknowledge how grateful we are, but more than the pressure, we are ready to give them back as much as they [their fans, BLINKs] gave us. It just gives us more motivation to go further than we ever dreamed of."
If you’ve been acquainted with the BLACKPINK ethos, you will have seen this coming. For the better part of four years, the members of BLACKPINK have stood tall on the backs of the self-assured, self-aware messages in their music. Whatever the challenge, the BLACKPINK way is to always go up. Now, as they get ready to reacquaint themselves with the world with their first full-length release, The Album, the same determination abounds.
"We tried to put more colors into our music, say black and pink," says Lisa. "I wish each member has a stronger presence on the stage and explores more various genres. I hope people don’t know what to expect from us, except for something better than before. We want to be unpredictable."
Ahead of the release of The Album, GRAMMY.com sat down with BLACKPINK to discuss their career, achievements, motivations and future.

BLACKPINK's Rapid Rise | For The Record
This is going to be your first full-length album after your debut, so the hype is very real. What was the mood when you heard it was happening?
Rosé: At the very start, when they said that we were going to [be releasing] our first album, we were very stoked, because we do know that our fans have been waiting for this moment for a very, very long time. We were very excited but also nervous at the same time because we do know that it is a big deal. It's the first time we were able to put all of our colors into something. We had mixed feelings, but overall it was very positive vibes, and we were very stoked to be able to finally release the full album.
The Album is coming after almost four years of your debut, which is a long time. Why do you think that this is the right moment for it?
Rosé: We had four years to kind of build our own colors as BLACKPINK. Throughout the four years, we got to explore different genres and really find out our exact, distinct colors. So, I feel like [in] this album, we were able to put our prepared music style and contribute with new music genres that we're still exploring recently. [That's why] I think now is the best time to come out, because any later would be too late and any earlier, we might have been in a rush. We definitely feel like, right now, we are fully ready to put out a full completed album.
How do you think this album represents the kind of artists you are? How does it represent your colors?
Jennie: I think we've said this before, but our new album is full of surprises. We like to believe that it's something no one has tried before. We just want to bring something new. The album is cool, you know, and we tried to put together all the colors of BLACKPINK that we've built before into one.
You started this year with some amazing collaborations. What do you look for while working with other artists? Where is that middle ground between your style and their style?
Jennie: Since there are already four of us, we're very adjusted to working with people, so somebody new is always welcome. They bring a new perspective to the group, and it's an amazing experience. It's like stepping outside of our usual boundaries and into a world that we haven’t been to. To create something new with a great artist, like Lady Gaga and Dua [Lipa] and much more to come, it's just a great chance for us as artists and groups.
How was working on The Album different to working on your previous EPs? The Album is more cohesive, it's longer; there are more songs, more opportunities. What was that like?
Rosé: Definitely, because it's not like separate projects that we were working on. In the past, when we were working on individual projects, it was mainly all about that "one" song or that "one" concept that we were coming out with. But, because this was an album, we really had to think about the flow and the meaning behind this. I feel like this time around, we do have personal songs in there, something that tells our story, something that is fun.
And since our name is BLACKPINK, we represent the diversity in our personalities as individuals and as artists. So, we feel like we really had to put that forward and address that as well as we could.
You told me how the album went from concept to final form and how you showed your colors; are there any parts of the production process that you paid special attention to?
Rosé: I feel like we stayed in the studio for a while. We didn't want to just have a bunch of tracks and songs written for us and for us just go and record. We did spend a lot of time in the studio trying to find what we really wanted to sing about, what kind of music we wanted to put out. It took us a while to get together a list of good songs so we could get into recording mode. That's the really big process: just hanging out in the studio and making sure we have fun there so we can be honest.
Let's talk a little bit about your recent achievements. You've broken records that at one point a lot of people thought were unachievable, especially for Asian artists. You performed at Coachella, you’re the most followed K-pop act on YouTube, "How You Like That" broke so many records right after its release. In context of all that, the pressure of being BLACKPINK must be so intense.
Jennie: It's very surprising to us. All the records are the results of our fans, BLINKs, and their unconditional support. Every day we try to acknowledge how grateful we are, but more than the pressure, we are ready to give them back as much as they gave us. It just gives us more motivation to go further than we ever dreamed of.
There's always a line between the persona and the person, so how do you make sure that the expectations people have of you are realistic, that what is going on in your professional life is either a reflection of who you are or a separation from it?
Jisoo: We are grateful, as artists, as individuals, that people have such big expectations of us, and we are ready to take on the burden that comes with the expectations. We chose to do this: we try to send that message in our music, to show our confidence and the boldness to take on the challenge.
I feel like you’ve gone beyond the concept of a traditional girl group now. BLACKPINK is not just a name, it’s sort of become a force of nature where everybody knows who you are. With a position like that, there's always a danger of thinking: "I'm fine here. I'm good. This is comfortable." The position limits growth. How do you guys ensure that you always keep on reinventing?
Rosé: While we are very grateful for the amount of things that we have achieved and everything that follows this, we are just four girls who always really loved music and we just enjoyed performing. So [staying] creative is not too hard, because once we do one thing, we are always looking at the next thing, always dreaming of things that we have always wanted to do. But we definitely don't settle with what we have right now. We're all very greedy when it comes to. [Laughs.]
Jennie: We have each other to look and be inspired by. We let each other know what we're doing and where to head.
Lisa: We're like the same person.
Rosé: I think all of our members try to remind each other of how we're all just human. The hype, we try not to let it get to us. We don't really go: "Oh my god, we broke these many records or da di da..." We just look at each other and like…
Jisoo: We're just happy with how far we've come.
How do you think you've grown since your trainee days?
Rosé: We definitely have become a little more professional when it comes to this job, I guess? When we were trainees, we were only training for the music. This job is actually a job.
Jennie: There is much more stuff to care about than just music, but to carry ourselves as somebody to influence or [somebody to] look up to.
Lisa: We just enjoy every little step of it, and when we're off camera, we're pretty much like, still four girls.
Rosé: Teenage girls. [Laughs.]
Tell me how you're going to relax after the album comes out. Will there be a party, or a girls' night in?
Rosé: The crazy thing is right after our album releases, we're going to be promoting it and trying to get as much content out there for our fans. Definitely there will be a celebration at some point, but I still think we will be at working mode.
Jennie: But an excited working mode, since our fans have the album in their hand.
Lisa: [From the back] We're workaholics!
Rosé: And our biggest celebration is kind of like, staying at home in bed. Sleeping all day, so that's going to happen, hopefully.
A lot of your plans for promotion might have been thrown off course with COVID. How does this synergy with fans affect your performance? What are you expecting this time around?
Jisoo: Even though the opportunity for us to meet our fans in person has decreased, we're very grateful for social media at this point. I actually feel like since we do have social media we have more of a platform to connect with our fans on a bigger scale, so we're grateful for that at this point in time. We just hope to reach out to our fans and give them more hope through our music and content.
You guys are in a position where you are some of the people spearheading the modern K-pop expansion. Since your debut, we have seen K-pop grow so much. What kind of responsibility do you think you personally have towards its global expansion?
Rosé: It's amazing that K-pop is spreading around the world as a culture in itself. There are a lot of other K-pop artists out there who are trying to put out their music right now, and we are really grateful that we get to step in and be a part of that.
Jennie: Since we get such amazing opportunities and records because of the people that are interested in watching K-pop right now, we'd like to take the responsibility. We are fully committed to the work. We want to be proud when we look back on our history when we grow old.
[Rosé laughs.]
Jennie: We want to be proud of ourselves. I don't want to let ourselves down, so we put extra time, extra effort into every single thing we put out. I think that's why it takes a bit of time for us, but we really want to perfect the quality of the stuff we put out, so we can be represented to the world as a K-pop group.
Rosé: It's amazing how things are going. It's a big responsibility but a good responsibility that we have.

With PowerMerge, Dynamics 365 customers can simply select an entity (account, contact, or lead), an related view and which discipline(s) the solution ought to discover duplicates from. Depending on entity, it may be a mixture of account identify, e-mail address, first identify and final title. apart from the Revise doc field, select the revised doc you will merge within the Open dialog box, and click on the Open button. For MP3 Merger, it does not matter if the audio files you're merging are available a single or totally different codecs. Merge MP3 can be a part of mp3 information in a wide range of audio formats, encoded with different codecs utilizing totally different settings. It is simple to join files you downloaded together even if all of them come in numerous codecs. One of the nifty things about Home windows is that you are able to do a variety of cool stuff using the bottom command line utilities that include the operating system. The copy command, for http://www.mergemp3.com/ example, can actually merge MP3s into one. To pick out to merge more specific MP3s from a folder, press and hold the Ctrl key and click on the MP3s to merge. Then it's best to right-click on to open the context menu within the snapshot beneath. That features a Be a part of Chosen possibility you possibly can click on to merge the files with. Merges the Person, Profile, and ALL information for its access authorization search. Proper click on one of the selected clips and from the pop up menu click on merge. To clip or trim your music information, it is best to flip to our freeware - Any Video Converter Free, which is a great however highly effective enough audio and video converter and editor software. As an audio splitter freeware, Any Video Converter can help you chop the audio information into segments as you like. And as an audio joiner, it's going to also enable you to be a part of or merge any audio files into massive one although they're in different codecs. Cubase VST 5 had a merge tracks operate. You chose the audio tracks to merge and clicked merge tracks. The end result was a brand new, single monitor with all of your results and mixing ranges saved in-tact. Optionally write VBR body into the merged file - helpful when merging recordsdata with completely different bitrates. The grid is sorted in order of proportion regarding what data are almost definitely to be duplicates which you could merge. Proper-click on wherever within the grid to show print or export choices for the contents of the grid. Each sorts of half-rack device are uncomplicated in design, with Spider Audio being in all probability the most simple Cause machine of all. It provides two fundamental circuits: a four:1 mono or stereo merger designed to merge four indicators into one, and a 1:four stereo splitter designed to split a single signal into four in order that it can be despatched to four completely different locations. Front-panel 'LEDs' point out the presence of audio exercise, and that's it for external features (see footage above). There aren't even any stage controls for the inputs in the merge circuit. As for computerized routing issues, there are not any of these both, because the consumer makes all the connection decisions. CR: Not as glad as we have been! I have been at Merge since 2001. I did faculty radio and began noticing that every one my favorite records had been on Merge—The RockATeens, The Magnetic Fields' sixty nine Love Songs got here out once I was in faculty. Spoon's Woman Can Tell came out proper after I graduated….I decided to maneuver to Chapel Hill as a result of then I may return to highschool if I decided to and then two months later, I worked right here. Click on Merge CD tracks. You will notice iTunes has now drawn a line connecting the impartial tracks to point out how they are going to be merged when imported. You may find, with patches which have an extended release setting on the amplitude EG, that some notes might be re-triggered, including even more rhythmic interest and creating parts that you could be by no means otherwise have thought of. The pattern might be carefully associated to the Redrum sample but careful use of the sensitivity controls will stop the end result from sounding obvious. Preserving the sensitivities low creates a subtle effect that's more texture than set off. The opposite side of the coin is that any merged gate input with its sensitivity whacked fully to the proper produces a tough, velocity-like hit each time it fires. I discover this specific merging technique works great on octave bass-traces with chuggy patches which have moderate amplitude EG release values. Superchunk's music video for Me and You and Jackie Mitoo," from 2013's excellent I Hate Music is certainly one of our favorites showcasing vinyl love. So, whereas rolling via Durham, North Carolina, we checked in with the publicity crew at Merge Records to dish about wax. Publicist Christina Rentz and publicity assistant Mike Caulo spent a big ol' chunk of time hanging with us, so this dialog has been edited for brevity and readability. It is a very nice approach to merge files. There may be one problem. The headers of mp3-recordsdata are additionally merged. Audio Joiner lets you set the interval of each songs added into this music combiner and then merge them into one music. Appears like an audio cutter. If you are searching for a solution to merge a number of audio information into one monitor, then this video is a good information to you. Finest FLAC Converter Assessment 2018
Did you ever downloaded a single APE or FLAC file consisting of a number of songs? If you are only occupied with converting FLAC recordsdata you might omit the APE codec, and vice versa. LL2MP3 checks at startup which codecs can be found and indicates which conversions are supported accordingly. If both APE codec and FLAC codec are absent, you can still convert WAV information to mp3 information. In addition to break up songs by CUE, Bigasoft Audio Converter also allows you to lower lengthy music file to smaller parts by the help of its "Trim" function if your audio file does not have a CUE file connected. Maybe it comes down to the question of why severe audiophiles would use iTunes in the first place. If you need a truly flexible media player for the Mac (and for Windows, Linux, Android and iOS) get the free VLC Media Participant at And sure, it plays FLAC and nearly all the pieces else, both audio and video. And that is it! You will have lowered the file measurement of your uncompressed WAV file and APE FLAC Converter transformed it to a way more transcription-friendly MP3 file. This system locatesCUE information within the folder and suggests splitting the picture to individual tracks if some are found. If you're a fan of hi-res audio , you could be wondering learn how to get your iOS device to play properly with a decidedly un-Apple high-decision audio file that's among the many hottest file codecs: FLAC. Our handy information gives you all the instruments you want, letting you know exactly what FLAC recordsdata are, what their advantage is, and most importantly, learn how to play them in your iOS device. APE recordsdata might be effortlessly become FLAC by utilizing our APE to FLAC Converter. I did not go here the iTunes route for converting the Wav to MP3. I used a easy free program, River Past Wave to MP3," which was as easy as chopping mushy cheese to use. Convert files from and to any supported formats, for instance, convert FLAC to MP3 , APE to MP3, MP3 to WAV, FLAC to WMA, WMA to MP3, and so on. You may as well change MP3 bitrate. Convert between audio formats, together with APE, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, RA, AUD, AIFF, MPC, VOC, AU, M4A, VOX, AUD, AMR, AWB, and so forth. I used iDealshare VideoGo to transform APE information to MP3, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, WMA, M4A, Apple Lossless and etc. A buddy and I have simply downloaded version 2.2.0, and examined each the 32bit model and the 64bit model, and we've got found a typical downside. When utilizing the profile alternative of MP3 and leaving the defaults alone, it really works and saves the audio in an MP3 format, and the listed container is indicating Containers (.mp3). The moment we change the bitrate to the next stage, both one hundred sixty or in my case 192, the output container now indicates Containers (.ts), and the ensuing created file is garbled, basically destroyed. Even if I force the extension to MP3 by altering the container option to All recordsdata (.)", and the file title and extension accordingly, it doesn't assist. I've not tested further with other enter file formats, however we are at the moment tryingmp4 andmp4a recordsdata, video recordings from our cell phones, and trying to extract the audio only. Nevertheless, on account of its limited applicability and lower fault tolerance, there is typically a must deal with your APE information properly by changing them into one other audio tracks. Hereby, we would wish to focus on a reliable audio converting tool - APE Converter for Mac & Windows , with which managing yourape music collections will develop into a simple job. Flac has essentially the most superior high quality of audio there's I assume. Convert APE to lossy audio format like convert APE to MP3, MP2, WMA, AAC, AC3, AIFF, AU, RA, DTS, OGG and and many others. A FLAC file is a Free Lossless Audio Codec file. It wont convey any sound quality loss when compressing, but can cut back the file dimension to round half of its original measurement. As we speak, flac information are the most popular lossless audio recordsdata, and supported by plenty of media players. AnyBurn can burn Audio CD from flac recordsdata. Click "Cut up by Chapter" in the context menu in the activity listing, the long and huge music recordsdata will likely be automatically break up to tracks. Right here you instruct fmedia to transform your WAVE file into each of those audio formats with their particular encoding settings. Of course, you'll be able to change these settings or strive completely different audio codecs.
Tumblr media
You can instantly convert one lossless format to a different, with out intermediate conversion. For instance, you possibly can flip FLAC to Apple Lossless supported by most Apple devices. An audio converter is a software program used to convert one type of audio file (like an MP3, WMA, WAV and so on) to a different. For instance, when you've got an audio file whose format shouldn't be supported by any of your pc programs , then you won't be capable to play the file without changing it to a format that your pc helps. That is the place audio converter software is useful. Changing APE to FLAC with Bigasoft APE to FLAC Converter is just that ease. Once you exchange your APE to FLAC, you will remedy the APE compatibility points between music and the so you may get pleasure from your music on transportable audio devices freely. One level in favour of flac coding is that some community players can play the files so the they do not need to be transcoded. No network player, to my knowledge, helps ape straight. Click on Obtain to save lots of your converted FLAC file(s).
To enjoy music saved in unique codecs that you just media participant doesn't assist, you'll need to put in an audio converter software program that guarantees to transform the audio tracks to a supported format. Various audio formats exist, and APE FLAC Converter every has its own unique features. Some preserve excellent sound quality, some can be played only on specific devices, some affords compact size, and others are so uncommon that you haven't any thought which packages can open them.

Translation of Alex Turner’s interview in ICON magazine
Alex Turner, leader of Arctic Monkeys, the biggest rock band of the 21st century, and perhaps its last hope
"What the hell is this?"
We've just arrived at the location of our interview with Alex Turner, leader of Arctic Monkeys, who is absolutely awestruck. It's the first floor of the Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel in London, an ancient Edwardian building with touches of art deco, converted, of course, into a hotel. In a room of the first floor, a photoshoot has just taken place.
"Well, I don't know, I think the people are getting married," says the press agent, attempting to explain some of the excitement it's provoked in Alex being in the space, without getting too carried away: we still have a job to do. Alex begins to run through the hall, the site of council meetings of the Bethnal Green since 1910, when the building was constructed. Nearly all civic government buildings in Spain are smaller, and certainly not as lovely as this place.
The writer of Fake Tales of San Francisco has already seated himself in the chair we suspect belongs to the mayor.
"What do you want? A fine or a wedding?" he jokes.
The press agent leaves, but the leader of the band formed in the era when teenagers no longer wanted to form rock bands can't keep still. He runs between the benches until he's standing in the spot meant for the speaker.
"A hundred pounds! Look here's £100!" He procures two rosy £50 notes. I suggest to him that we should keep them. He laughs. I decide not to insist. I say instead we should start the interview, after all we are here to talk about Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, the sixth album by the band, not to get married or chat. He stops laughing. It's a shame that Alex Turner becomes such a timid person, careful and cautious, when the tape recorder starts. Before he assumes the role of frontman of the group that launched AM four years ago and made it the best selling vinyl record of the 21st century, he permits himself one last question.
"Would you get married here?" We look around - myself still thinking about those £100 - while we get cozy in two benches in the last row. I answer no, that's it's all very interesting, but not at all romantic.
"I agree. Motion denied," he decides.
Rising to fame in the middle of the last decade, Arctic Monkeys have become a phenomenon thanks to a handful of songs a friend converted into mp3 - they say that they, despite being part of the digital age, had problems even turning on a computer - which soon began to spread on the Internet. It was the raucous, intelligent, and British response to The Strokes. Seeing them on the stage in those early days, before the premiere of their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, which would see the light of day in 2006 and would become the fastest selling debut album ever in Britain within in its first week of release, was a tremendously peculiar experience. Four kids at 3 a.m. making a spectacular noise in the Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona, but who could barely reach the bar counter to order a drink.
More than a decade has passed and they've recorded four albums more. A brilliant sequel (Favourite Worst Nightmare), another risky, rapturous and rocking (Humbug, recorded en the California desert with Josh Homme), a delicate and underrated return to pop (Suck It and See) and a million-dollar beast, a sex-soundtrack record called AM. And then, they stopped.
"When we stopped touring in 2014, nearly everyone in the band was about to get married, or having kids, or another kid. The end of those concerts was much like the end of another chapter. We were all 28 or 29 and it felt like everything was about to change. During this neverending tour I thought that record would be with me forever. It was the longest tour we had ever done. Now I think we extended it because we knew that when it ended it would be the end of something bigger than just a series of concerts. I expected everything to change, well, I felt that even though the numbers said the opposite, in the end we had less than we started with," remembers Turner, about the final days we would see the band together in public.
Now all living in the U.S., each of the band members went on his own path. Alex returned to The Last Shadow Puppets, a band loved by Arctic Monkeys devotees. There Turner splits responsibilities with his friend Miles Kane, a guy with impeccable taste but with terrible ideas. In 2016 the pair played the mainstage at Primavera Sound, where they were the headliners. That performance was grotesque. The image of Turner, who looked like a mix between an actor in Rebeldes and a finalist in an Elvis impersonators competition, had only a semblance of Arctic Monkeys of AM. In that context he made a bit of a joke of himself. Compared to the boy who, as an adolescent, was rejected by a second-hand clothing shop in Sheffield because he was too shy, it had gotten out of hand.
"That was..." His words are halting, he speaks very slowly, he leaves sentences unfinished and even stops a joke short if he finds the punchline isn't as funny as he'd thought. "I think what I wanted to say with that image and that attitude have been said. It's over."
Now Turner sports long hair and a beard which has been the object of controversy among his fans, who even launched a Change.org campaign for him to shave it.
"There's a lot of scrutiny around our next step, I know. We've always tried to be discreet with what we do, where and with whom. It's normal, but I don't think we do it on purpose. In this age, it's hard to keep secrets. With this record we tried and even just getting to the studio, the sound engineer goes and posts a picture of us. Everyone is so crazy these days, they act like they're Columbo. 'I saw this, I spotted that guy...'" explains Turner when asked how it's possible that a band as big as his, who will be the headliners at Primavera Sound and at MadCool, has managed to make sure that, even with only a month left until the record's launch, no one knows absolutely anything about it.
"I don't know if not getting involved in social media is something we do on purpose to protect the band, but it helps," says Turner, introducing the topic of being offline. "Maybe it's not in our DNA to expose ourselves. I've put so much into the music that I don't know what more I can do with that. I can't open a Twitter account because I think everything's there, in the songs. I'd make a fool of myself if I started tweeting. See, social media doesn't bother me, truthfully, but when you become the version of yourself you've created in the virtual world there's something there that allows people to do their worst against you. And you can also do your worst against them. The consequences of that I can't even imagine, but I don't want them."
We've had to listen to Tranquility Base in a version that downloads and is scheduled for automatic deletion the next week. The band have asked us not to ask anything personal, days after an encounter Alex had with a journalist from The Times. There is no single before the release, but there is a new logo for the band's image. The only photograph of Turner is the one taken by a guard in an airport days before this meeting and which has reactivated the fierce debate with respect to the Sheffielder's beard. It's a record release like the ones before, but Turner hardly seems like a global superstar. I tell him that one time I interviewed Beyoncé and they sat me at one end of a massive table and told me that I shouldn't even think about touching her, and that, on another occasion interviewing Chris Cornell, I had to go into a hotel room that was completely dark and had to confirm that the voice answering my questions was actually the grunge singer's.
"Would you like some water?" Turner interrupts, and, before I can respond, fills my glass.
During the hours after our meeting, the first new photo of the band is made public (they look as though they're dressed for a wedding in December of 1972 in Iceland) and they publish the details and tracklisting of their latest record, which was recorded in Paris, London, and Los Angeles, where the band members now reside. But what most strikes me is the first line. "I just wanted to be one of The Strokes, now look at the mess you've made me make," sings Turner on “Star Treatment”, a gem of a song that marks the tone of an album destined to confound all those who expected something bombastic, expansive, and hormonal. The LP has songs with titles as fabulous as The Ultracheese, Batphone, or The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip. Imagine Richard Hawley going on tour with comedian Andy Kaufman and performing only in Sheraton hotels located in state capitals, or Scott Walker in the pub, singing after a Sheffield United match. It's deliciously decadent and promises to polarize the opinions of millions of their fans. Is [Turner] nervous? And, more importantly, is he confident?
"Let's see, I think I remember feeling a bit like that with this last record. I wasn't sure if it was the right album. Are we going down the wrong path? It always happens. When I showed the first songs to my manager, to the people from the record label and my colleagues, a lot of the reactions were 'It's very unique.' I thought it was unique, but not that much. I doubted whether it was the right record for the Monkeys. So, Jamie came to my house and stayed with me for two weeks while we recorded. His enthusiasm for the songs confirmed to me that it was the right choice. If this is what comes out of me, that's what it is. I think we can do what we want to do, it's our band. So there's no reason to worry about whether it's a hit or not," he says about a record that, from time to time, evokes loneliness.
"Yes, a little bit," concedes Turner. "There's always been something in me that has made me isolated in life. But until now, I don't know why, I've avoided touching upon that on a creative level. The words passed through a very long process of refinement. It's been complicated getting here. For example, that first line about The Strokes. I fought hard against it, I wanted it but I didn't want it. I thought, "Hell, I'll leave it, because I know I'll change it because it's impossible that I'll end up saying this nonsense." And it got to a point that I thought, "If I feel like this, why not say it? I should be honest."

O’Connell Bridge Bootleg Cassettes
Tumblr media
When I moved to Dublin in late 1992 you could still buy bootleg cassettes on O'Connell Bridge. I don’t know when this trade would have started but originally the tapes on offer would be a mixture of mostly Dublin/Irish live shows. Things like U2 or Simple Minds live in Croke Park or Slane, that sort of thing. I think there were also cassettes of demos or other rare material as well, which might have originally come from vinyl bootlegs. Prince’s unreleased, The Black Album, always seemed to be a popular title. There was a fitting element of mystery as to how some of this material had made its way to the public however.
I went looking in my attic for some of these tapes which I would have bought in the 90s and was surprised to find I still have 12 of them left. I don't think any of them actually came from O'Connell Bridge but date from a little later when a few secondhand record shops were selling them in Dublin. I don’t think any of these shops still exist. I was surprised to find almost nothing about this subject online and looking at them again got me thinking and remembering this largely forgotten and now long obsolete market on the very furthest fringes of the record industry.
The original sellers on O'Connell Bridge would be fairly open about what they were doing but always on the look out for the Gardai. I don't know how many of them there would have been, perhaps very few, as I don't remember there being more than one or two people selling tapes at any time on the bridge. Perhaps two people would work together, with two open briefcases propped on boxes, with 3 rows of cassettes in each. You often find these type of cases in Charity Shops today.  For whatever reason I rarely walked on the east-side of the bridge so I don't know if there would have ever been sellers there as well. I only remember them being on the always busier west side. The photo below comes from 1991 and while I can’t make out any tape sellers I’m sure they are lurking somewhere, especially if this was a weekend!
Tumblr media
There was a little thrill in stopping and quickly pouring over the spines to see what they had. Sometimes they would have to literally shut the case in front of you and leg it if they thought the Gardai were coming. This might turn out to be a false alarm and they would set up a few seconds later or disappear completely. I seem to remember they appeared to be likeable guys, mostly in their 20s, not scary criminal types at all. They were music fans who knew their stock and if some show might once have been available. I still regret not buying Sonic Youth live at Dublin’s McGonagles in 1990 when I saw it as this was a gig I was at. I probably thought I'd see it again but as I would soon learn, this was often not the case. You might see something once and never again. There were plenty of obscure groups too alongside the more obvious so it was always worth a look. If an overseas artist you liked had played a gig in town the weekend before you might well see it on the bridge a few days later. I forget how much they cost at this time, maybe 3 or 4 pounds in old money. This would have been a good profit from a blank tape and a usually florescent photocopy! I can only imagine how many copies might have been sold of a particular show but I’m sure artists like U2 must have sold in pretty large amounts over the years. At this time of high unemployment in Ireland, at least it made some money for a few enterprising people. I do remember there was a big story once in the Sunday World about how these bridge traders were openly pirating U2 in their home city under the noses of the Guards.
When I went to see R.E.M. in 1989 at the RDS on their Green Tour (my first gig when I was 16) I also bought my first bootleg tape from someone with a briefcase set up at the side of the road close to the venue. I don't have it anymore but it was a live show from I think a vinyl bootleg from 1985. I do remember it sounding okay and I would have played it a lot at the time. Listening to this live show was a very different experience than I was used to. I wasn’t sure what country it was from and the recording had an unpolished, in the moment quality to it. I became more interested in the things I could hear outside of the music, the between song banter and anything I could make out from the crowd noise. I also wondered who had made the recording and how many times it had been copied since then. A few years later I bought a double cassette of the actual show I was at but I remember the quality was bad and really I should have known I wasn't going to want to listen to it all again. Much later on in 2004 when I was doing my Junk Out of Context art project I did recycle a lot of my old tapes and I'm sure that is where this and much of my bootleg collection went.
Tumblr media
I don't think I bought too many tapes from people on O'Connell Bridge, partly because they seemed to disappear not long after I moved to Dublin. The last time I clearly remember them on the bridge they were selling the Nirvana at The Point Depot cassette from 1992 with Kurt's own 'Rock Star' signature on the cover (another show I attended). It's possible this was one of the last big sellers for the traders. Maybe with the increased uptake of CD or the Gardai cracking down on them this business seemed to gradually move into shops from then on but the emphasis was more on unreleased studio recordings. I’m not sure if you could still quite so easily buy live shows from Dublin anymore. While the quality was not always great, it could be argued that the people who were making the original gig recordings were doing a public service for fans (possibly not the same people who were copying and selling the tapes).
Looking back I like the idea of people making these cassettes and artwork themselves, although their whole life must have been spent pressing play and record on double deck machines set to hi-speed dubbing mode! This is something I did myself in my teenage years as most music fans from my generation will remember; when making copies of albums for friends. The cassette bootleggers didn’t hurt any artist’s sales however as these were not pirate copies of an album but something otherwise unavailable. It was closer to fans trading live tapes than anything more sinister. I don't think paying for downloads of live shows has really taken off, although companies have tried, but if you bought one of these tapes you would at least be more likely to play it than an MP3 somewhere on your computer.
In the 1990s I started to get the odd tape in a basement record shop very close to Tower Records that I forget the name of and a few other places, one in Temple Bar. I liked hearing unreleased studio material and by now most of it was being copied from CD bootlegs so the quality was usually okay. While there was already a long tradition of box-sets of unreleased material, these bootleg CDs preempted this demand for groups like Nirvana and Pixies who were only recently split up or over by then.
While cassettes have become popular on the underground music scene again for limited editions or DIY groups, I don’t expect the live bootleg cassette to ever make a comeback but the fans demand for unreleased recordings has always been there and always will be and bootlegs traditionally fill the void as long as it lasts. The bygone days of buying them on a cold windy bridge in the middle of Dublin and wondering what the ‘Unknown’ track was, marvelling at the crudeness of the homemade sleeves and hoping the quality of the recording would be good was actually a very memorable and exciting part of being a music fan at that time.

Free APE CUE Splitter, CUE APE To MP3 Converter
Find out how to convert APE to FLAC online with APE to FLAC Converter? APE: APE is a really highly compressed lossless file, that means you'll get the most house savings. Its audio quality is the same as FLAC, nhnkristina2.wikidot.com ALAC, and different lossless files, but it surely isn't compatible with nearly as many players. They also work your processor harder to decode, since they're so extremely compressed. Typically, I wouldn't advocate utilizing this except you are very starved for space and have a player that helps it. In case you're unable to play or edit a certain audio file the way in which you want as a result of the format isn't supported by the software you are using, one in every of these free audio converter software programs or on-line instruments might help.
Tumblr media
Right click on the APE audio to open the context menu, then click "Split by Chapter", the APE audio might be robotically cut up to separate audio files appearing below the unique APE audio. The CD participant has one of the best sound high quality, warm, very clear and filled with particulars; The second is Itouch four, clear and full particulars however dry; The final one is my laptop, dry, lack of details and a little bit distortion of music even when enjoying ape or flac format. APE is a filename extension for a well-liked lossless audio format, Monkey's Audio. Lossless signifies that no audio data is discarded while you convert music into this format. This is completely different from MP3, AAC, and other lossy formats. FLAC to MP3 Converter assist the widest vary of enter and output audio codecs including FLAC, MP3, AAC, OGG, and over a dozen others. FLAC to MP3 Converter can take any number of flac audio recordsdata in any supported codecs, and produce files in a format, bitrate and compression of your choice. You'll be able to convertFLAC recordsdata to MP3's, or flip a bunch of WAV recordsdata into OGG, or carry out any other conversion depending on what your goal system accepts. Total, VSDC Free Audio Converter is simply as quick as most of the different instruments in this checklist and is great for converting your information to a typical format. After putting in AnyMP4 APE to FLAC Converter software, you can launch the program and open the principle interface, click "Add Video" button to add APE audio file to the program, you may as well add multiple APE recordsdata to the program by selecting the "Add Folder" choice in "Add Video" drop-down checklist. Free obtain and install Faasoft APE to FLAC Converter and launch it. Then observe the three steps to convert APE to FLAC. The technical strengths of FLAC compared to different lossless codecs lie in its means to be streamed and decoded shortly, impartial of compression stage. 2nd, edit thecue file: Look for the line which lists the file name of theape file. Step 2: Start the program. Select APE files. Versatile toolbox combines fix video metadata, GIF maker, forged video to TELEVISION, VR flac&ape converter downloader free and display recorder. Does nothing however deliver advertisements. Interface is a joke. Tried to transform one file-program mentioned it accomplished conversion however there was no file output in vacation spot listing. So, currently there are 2 tracks I used for testing, all in Audio CD quality: hello-gain heavy steel song by "Heaven & Hell" and classical symphonic music written by Vivaldi. The objective is to check fully totally different sound and see how each codec works with it.
Tumblr media
Right click the flac file or highlight a number of and proper click on and a Convert To possibility seems within the drop down menu. Takes a minute to set up in order that it converts to the file you need but after that it is fast and simple. As you may see, the output file format is specified by way of the "-" option. In the event you do not specify an output format your cut up information will likely be in shntool's default format (i.e., wave recordsdata, "wav"). It's amazing that there are functions like this one which are totally free. The application is superb for conversion between audio codecs.
Lossless compression is benign in its impact on the music. It is akin to LHA or WinZip pc data crunchers in packing the data extra efficiently on the disk, however the information you read out are the same as went in. The primary distinction between lossless compression for computer knowledge and for audio is that the latter permits random entry throughout the file. (When you needed to wait to unZip the entire 400MB file of a CD's content material before you possibly can play it, you would rapidly abandon the entire concept.) You may get discount in file dimension to forty-60% of the unique with lossless compression—the efficiency of varied lossless codecs is compared right here and right here —however that will increase the capability of a 4GB iPod to only 300 songs, or 20 CDs' worth of music. More compression is critical. The Biggest ape2flac online site hyperlink: download on-line ape to flac methodology subsequently free convert ape to flac people Please notice which you'll be able to select a singular output format, supported are as an illustration ogg or wav as properly (nevertheless not aac). This technique uses Lame to encode the music into completely completely different codecs. A click on on the settings button opens the choices convert ape to flac on-line window with many different settings. Audio provides full help for the Unicode character set. That method it may effectively cope with not solely Latin scripts, but as well as Japanese, Cyrillic, Arabic or Indian. For many who like music from all around the globe, chances are you'll tag your info appropriately. Input Codecs: AAC, AC3, AIF, AIFF, ALAW, DTS, FLAC, M4A, M4B, M4R, MP2, MP3, , WAV, WMA, and many others. Apart from these important features Mp3tag offers a wide range of other functions and features ranging ranging from batch export of embedded album covers, over assist for iTunes-particular tags like media type or TELEVISION Show settings, to combining multiple actions into teams that can be applied with a single mouse click. Free Lossless Audio Codec, or FLAC for brief, is an audio compression method. It's a lossless compression kind that means that the compression takes place with out information being discarded. FLAC is an open source codec. FLAC is a format that's advisable to these backing up a CD assortment because the sound high quality will stay high, whereas MP3 compression will end in a deterioration as compared with the original. The very first thing you'll need to do is find a tune you wish to convert. First I'll be showing how you can convert to MP3. Right click on your music and click on Convert… It is best to see the picture beneath if you are utilizing the newest version of Foobar. Click on the drop down menu underneath Output format and choose MP3 (LAME). Select an output path and set the title format. For the title format, %track% would be the monitor variety of your songs, %title% can be the song identify, %album% could be the album, and many others.

The idea of seeing music
(Artist & Designer mini brief Digging Deeper)
For my designer brief I am making work related to music (Purity is a name synonymous with music). With mind mapping I made word association with pulse, beat, sound wave and audio waveform. That is where my research on sound began. I have a tiny bit of knowledge on audio forms from my secondary school (using Adobe Audition), but I pretty much can’t remember any of it (except how to remove white noise from a video).
What is sound
Sound is not a thing in itself but a property of the medium through which it is travelling. It is produced when something vibrates - cause of medium around it to vibrate.
Tumblr media
Jerobeam Fenderson - Oscilloscope Music
When I was looking at different waveforms I came across oscilloscope music.  An oscilloscope uses a two-axis graph to give a visual representation of a waveform over time, with the horizontal axis representing time and the vertical axis representing the amplitude. In music production, oscilloscopes are commonly used to assist dynamics processing and sound synthesis.
Jerobeam Fenderson creates audiovisual music where the images are created by soundwaves on an analog oscilloscope. With a background in electronics and audio engineering, Jerobeam began experimenting with technical approaches to composition around 2012, and has since developed his own form of expression with Oscilloscope Music. The first track of its kind was “Nuclear Black Noise”, a composition consisting entirely of sine waves, and it was followed by ever-evolving audio-visual live shows, and an album in 2016.
The idea of “seeing music” is hard to grasp, but Jerobeam makes what sounds impossible, very real. He forms 2D and 3D objects with minimalistic green lines from abstract lissajous shapes that mutate into complex vector graphics, using the left and right audio channels as X and Y coordinates.
Oscilloscope Music turns the transformation of abstract concepts into something tangible that works on an emotional level outside of its technical context. Using this approach, math doesn’t seem like the dry concept it is often seen as, but rather a key to the fundamental principles of nature.
Here is a link to a song from his album Oscilloscope Music: https://bit.ly/2FsVveA
Reasearching further I found a software (Oscilloscope) made for looking at music (by playing any mp3 file) based on osilloscope’s coordinates X and Y. In the software you have options to change volume, time stretch, scale, stroke weight, hue, intensity and after glow. Here are a few screenshots of when I used it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also found out there is a program called OsciStudio that converts 3d shapes and animations to sounds (through obj files or blender addons). And my plan was to try and make my own Osci Music with a simple 3d shape I would make in Blender, but I figured out you can’t export video files in the software yet, so I’ll just wait for an upgrade.
In retrospect I find his work extremely visually pleasing. It is what I believe how people with synesthesia must feel like. The combination of sound and the simple green lines take you on a serious trip to wherever Oscillioscope music comes from. I don’t care if not everyone agrees with me, but what Jerobeam is creating is truly a piece of magic. The animation feels like it’s taking you through a portal to another dimension, compelling to look at and impossible to look away.
It seems a bit weird how music has progressed. I’m sure some people would say “everything is music to kids these days”. But if you look at it from a different perspective, music has evolved into something so much more than just lyrics, melody or beats. It’s the new era of music and I’m loving it. Experimentation with sound is the only way to create something we haven’t heard before.
And then there’s Jerobeam who goes a leap further from other electronic music artists and makes us see what we hear. How crazy of a concept would that have been ages ago? I’m waiting for him to make me smell music next.

RELATED ARTICLES/ARTWORKS
-  Project Entercourse Of The New Age
Named after one of David Chastel’s and Yann’s favourite tracks by Glenn Crocker released in 1996, Entercourse Of The New Age (EOTNA) pays tribute to the genre of electronic music. In 2016 they had the opportuninty to have an exhibition space in the centre of Paris. They invited contemporary artists to design the iconography of old records that have moved the history of electronic music but didn’t benefit from any artwork since their release. EOTNA held its first exhibition in January 2017 and, to date, has worked with a total of 26 artists to reimagine beloved tracks with contemporary visuals. The idea of the project was not to position themselves within a specific artistic scene, but to show, on the contrary, very different techniques and styles.
- Daniel Avery: Visible Gravity
A 48 minute ambient track available for free download at XLR8R. “An ode to those early and quiet moments in a night where the strobe light is still only a hopeful glimmer beyond the horizon, a sign of the euphoria to follow.”
AN electronic track combined with an animation to go alongside Visible Gravity, directed by Matt&Dan. They imported the mix into Ableton and used an Oscilloscope to view the waveforms. They then added various plug-ins which let them manipulate the frequencies which gave them a live visual representation in a totally new way to how they have created previous artworks.
-  Dave Gaskarth: Quadripoints
Both from Birmingham but now based in London, Dave Gaskarth and Lee Gamble are long-term collaborators, with Dave working on most of Lee’s live visuals and videos since 2012.
Much of this work takes the shape of computer-generated 3D environments that use satellite imaging and other mapping date to create colour and texture. For 2017 track Quadripoints, for example, Dave developed a mountainous realm inhabited by spheres covered with satellite imagery pulled from different nation states. The aggressive balls jostle for top position, almost becoming an anthropomorphic being. For ongoing project Foldings, the duo has taken the idea and created site-specific segments influenced by the location of each gig. Whereas Lee sources field recordings of the specific city or records audio on arrival to weave around his tracks, Dave scrapes data, satellite photography and other mapping materials to form audio-reactive visuals which play over three screens.
-  Michael Satter
Since 2009 the designer has created artworks for labels Live At Robert Johnson, Hivern Discs, Die Orakel and Rivotan Records. He makes  simplistic designs that incorporate print, photography and illustration. On the surface their design appears simple, but the exemplary layouts are far from simple to create.
He has a long-time passion for electronic music, his cover artworks reflect the identity of the artist, and reference to the tracks on the record.
HOW THE ARTWORK RELATES TO HISTORY
Oscilloscope, previously called an oscillograph is an electronic instrument made for maintenance of electronic equipment and laboratory work. General Radio was the first to manufacture an oscilloscope that was usable outside a laboratory setting. After WW2 Heathkit Corporation released first oscilloscope kit made from electronic parts.
The first electronic devices for performing music were developed at the end of the 19th century, and shortly afterward Italian futurists explored sounds that had not been considered musical. By the 1940s, magnetic audio tape allowed musicians to tape sounds and then modify them by changing the tape speed or direction, leading to the development of electroacoustic tape music in the 1940s, in Egypt and France. In the 1970s, electronic music began having a significant influence on popular music, with the adoption of polyphonic synthesizers, electronic drums, drum machines, and turntables, through the genres such as disco, krautrock, new wave, synth-pop, hip hop and EDM.
Experimental music became prominent in the mid-20th century, particularly in Europe and North America. It is an improvised music without any rules, usually musicians make an effort to avoid cliches (recognizable genres).
BOOKS THAT RELATE TO MY KEYWORDS

-  Silence: Lectures and Writings by John Cage
-  Boring Formless Nonsense by Eldritch Priest

SUMMARY
As I continue to work on my designer brief I will think about ways to manipulate waveforms and find my inspiration in artists that I have researched.
Looking at artists that have taken the term ‘art’ and made it be literally anything is something that I look forward to exploring more. What’s so interesting about experimental art is how artists use different techniques and ideas that no one has seen before. What comes to mind is the movie The Matrix that did just that; exposed mainstream audience.
To me it’s really easy to make design that is common, but a huge struggle to do the opposite (probably because that’s all I’ve been doing so far). How to not stay in the norm and just do what I know how to do is something I need to work on.

Episode #154: Reflections on Rewatching Spacecamp
https://archive.org/download/Podcast158_201808/Podcast%20158.mp3
This week, I decided to take on one of my all time favorite movies as a kid, Spacecamp (the reason for my wanting to be an astronaut for almost 10 years and going to the actual camp in Huntsville, AL three times), and rewatch it to see what it looked like through adult eyes.  It was a mixed experience, as I expected and talked about on the show, but overall, when viewed as a fantasy, I still think the movie is a lot of fun.  Yes, the whole reason the Space Campers end up in space is contrived, but then so were the plots of most 80s sci fi movies.  I still enjoyed the teen movie elements (it was probably the first actual 80s teen movie I watched without actually realizing it), the characters, the music by John Williams (which, every time I hear it out of context, takes me right back to being a ten year old looking forward to the movie as the opening credits rolled), and the dialogue.  There are still some downright funny scenes.  And that’s how I view it all these years later – a lighthearted 80s sci fi teen comedy with elements of a thriller rather than something akin to a training film for future astronauts (which is probably closer to what I thought at age 10 – hence the fact I can still recite verbatim whole sections of dialogue).
Like a lot of 80s films, Spacecamp featured an ensemble cast with the teamwork approach (i.e. each person on the team has their own specialty), which of course fits for a space mission movie.  You may recognize a number of the actors here from their roles in other films.
And just in case you’re wondering, there is an adult Space Camp that you can do over a weekend.  And a family camp were you can go with your kid.  Just sayin’.

Between Two Worlds, the synth EP follow up to Long Ago Not So Far Away is now out for streaming on Bandcamp.
The bonus track, called “Flight of the Cloudrider” has a 80s movie mashup music video (see if you can identify all the movies!) which is available on youtube.   This app was largely created with the iphone app Auxy.
Stay tuned.  Follow along on Spotify!  There is also a growing extended Thirteenth Hourplaylist on Spotify with a growing number of retro 80s songs.
Check it out!

Episode 117 : Rockin' Steady
"...and though the flag been tattered and beaten..."
- General Steele
The short month of the year puts a little pressure on the recording schedule, but the show is here on time for you as always. Once again, we feature the sounds of J Dilla, Big Pun, and Big L, alongside plenty of other great stuff - and we keep the same speed going all the way through the mix!
Shows coming up;
Sadat X & El Da Sensei @ Joshua Brooks, March 20th
GZA @ Gorilla, Manchester, April 9th
Twitter : @airadam13
Playlist/Notes
EPMD ft. KRS-ONE : Run It
We start the episode with an all-NYC, all-uppercase collaboration from the "We Mean Business" LP, the seventh in EPMD's industrially-titled discography. A nod to LL on the hook, stick-up business over an Erick Sermon beat (of course), with KRS playing clean-up man flawlessly. Favourite part of the verse - real 'G's do indeed want to stay at home and read the paper.
Jay Dee : Another Batch - 11
One of a bunch of late-90s Dilla beats that got leaked onto the internet back in the day, this one smacks along with a bassline that comes through like a funky duck! I don't know if anyone ever rhymed on this, but I can imagine someone like De La doing great things with it.
Chuck D ft. Jahi : BOT
I don't know if it was intentional, but this track seems to call back to two tracks from the legendary "...Nation of Millions..." album; "She Watch Channel Zero?" ("she looking at the screen more than talking to me") and also "Night of the Living Baseheads" ("battery on low, look like fiends with a Jones"). Chuck D might have been one of the very first in Hip-Hop to catch onto the Internet, but the elder statesman sees the BS it's brought us as well! He combines here with the lead MC in the group known as "PE 2.0" to get it all off his chest, and he's got plenty more to say on the new "Celebration Of Ignorance" album.
Black Thought : 9th vs. Thought
No-one can accuse Black Thought of not being a team player, with it taking until 2018 before we saw a solo release from him, the "Streams of Thought Vol.1" EP. 9th Wonder was the producer for the project, and on this track he gets headline billing. Fans of top-flight lyricism are in for a treat here, as the MC of choice for many MCs shows his skill level in a major way.
Boot Camp Clik : World Wide
Serious track from the Brooklyn stalwarts, uniting on 2006's "The Last Stand". I absolutely love General Steele's opening verse, from which this month's epigram is taken, and then it's followed with the late, great Sean P just thugging it all the way out on the second verse! They go out of the immediate crew for production, tapping up Large Professor for a head-nodding beat that easily could have made for a fire single. Not the best-known tune maybe, but a tune that is big by nature!
Big L : Don't Front (Freestyle)
Short and powerful like a shot of rum, this is a concise taste of Big L's legendary freestyle aggression over a smooth 90s beat from Diamond's "You Can't Front".
Slum Village : Go Ladies (Instrumental)
One of my favourite Dilla beats easily, as heard on the "Fantastic, Vol.2" album, flipping a well-known 80s soul sample and somehow making it even better than you could have imagined. It's only when you listen back to what else was coming out around that time you can hear how much of a shock to the system a laid-back groove like this was.
Donnie : Cloud 9 (Spinna Mix)
If you enjoy soulful music, Donnie's 2002 debut "The Colored Section" should definitely be in your collection. "Cloud 9" was one of the standouts, and DJ Spinna puts some extra bump into it on this remix, which is on a nice 12" release. His bass style is so distinctive, and with so much of the beat being in the lower frequency range, it leaves plenty of room for Donnie's masterful vocals!
Foreign Exchange : Hustle, Hustle
There are plenty of great tracks on "Connected", the debut Foreign Exchange album, and I was sure I'd already played this - glad to find out I hadn't, as it was the perfect fit for this slot! Nicolay's beat is smooth on that kind of early-2000s, neo-soulish vibe, and then you have lyrical treats coming from every angle. Quartermaine and C.A.L.I.B.E.R spit bars about trying to get ahead in the world, and Phonte comes in beautifully on the hook, in a fairly early demonstration of his singing talent. I don't blame you if you find yourself humming this one on the way to work.
Kev Brown : Hold Fast
One of the great bassline masters in Hip-Hop, Kev Brown certainly put Landover (MD) on the map with his top-quality "I Do What I Do" album. He's just as solid on the mic, and takes the reins alone on this track from the second half of the LP. Scratches are credited to DJ PMD, who is not Parrish Smith, but in fact Peter Rosenberg (who hails from the same area) under his original DJ name!
Jermaine Dupri ft. Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and R.O.C : Protectors of 1472
Unless there's some other, non-publicised significance to the number 1472, the "Life In 1472" album has one of the most contrived titles of all time! I don't actually have the album, but this DJ Premier-produced cut is on a compilation of his rarer/lesser-known cuts. I cut this one fairly short, as I think you get the best of it in a compact dose - the last verse is by far the longest, but Snoop towards the front is the clear headliner.
J Dilla : Won't Do (Instrumental)
Classic Dilla from towards the end, based around the "Footsteps In The Dark" drums, with fragments of the vocal yelling out for help along the way. The vocal version is on "The Shining" LP, but for this instrumental, you may need to pick up the 7" boxset of the album (or the MP3 version), which contains instrumentals for every track!
Sadat X ft. Timmy Hunter : Neva
The three-bar loop makes mixing a bit tricky, but I really wanted to play this one! Sadat looks back over his life and career, and celebrates his own effort and self-belief - justifiably so. Diamond D provides the beat, as he does all the way through the "Sum Of A Man" album. It's been a long road since that first LP with Brand Nubian, but Sadat is still travelling it, and for that we should be thankful :)
Dabrye ft. Jay Dee and Phat Kat : Game Over
That beat will definitely do things on a big sound system. Sparse, menacing, insistent. Ann Arbor's Dabrye takes no prisoners on the production, and then pulls in his fellow Michiganders Jay Dee and Phat Kat, who just spit raw Detroit flames in the space the beat leaves! The 2006 "Two/Three" album is one for anyone who likes the more angular, awkward, and aggressive style of production.
Clear Soul Forces : Continue?
I've been saving the combination of this and "Game Over" for ages :) CSF's 2013 "Gold PP7s" is an essential album for anyone who thinks they don't make MCs like they used to - it should give you faith for the future! I can't even keep up with all the gaming, comic, and anime references that they just firehose you with, but the spirit is undeniable. Ilajide's videogame-styled beat bumps hard, and overall this is just one of those tracks I can't see any reason for anyone not to love!
C2C ft. Tigerstyle, Netik, Rafik, Vajra, Kentaro : Le Banquet
Here we have an all-star lineup of scratch DJs, liquefying their crossfaders one after another as the featured instrumentalists on this track from the "Tetra" album. If you listen closely, there are actually some quotes from "Game Over" in the mix - they sound like vocoded re-records, but they could well be heavily-manipulated samples...
J Dilla : Dillatronic 09
One more Dilla instrumental as we come towards the end, this time taken from the "Dillatronic" collection of beats, a posthumous collection of 41 pieces - many very short - from the MPC of the man himself.
Noreaga ft. Nature, Big Pun, Cam'ron, Jadakiss, and Styles P : Banned From TV
Late 90s thug styles, and the kind of triumphant sound that either had to start or finish the episode. Nature was the original guest on here, but while almost everyone else was invited on, Big Pun bullied his way onto the track! While everybody comes off, the true gems on this tune are towards the front - Nature's memorable opening line, and Pun's devastating verse. The Swizz Beatz production is a perfect snapshot of the keyboard-based beats of the era - the "horns" should be corny, but somehow they work in context, and the kick/basstone combo bangs! Classic Berra-ism from Nore on the last verse too - if it's with tomato juice, then it can't be Hennessy straight...
Please remember to support the artists you like! The purpose of putting the podcast out and providing the full tracklist is to try and give some light, so do use the songs on each episode as a starting point to search out more material. If you have Spotify in your country it's a great way to explore, but otherwise there's always Youtube and the like. Seeing your favourite artists live is the best way to put money in their pockets, and buy the vinyl/CDs/downloads of the stuff you like the most!
Check out this episode!

Adding a Little Color to the Music
These dreary wintry days have me longing for spring and all of its colors, so I’ve taken that inspiration into my music therapy sessions and music classes with a few colorfully themed songs.
Identifying colors is an important developmental skill for young children, so it’s only natural to practice that skill in a musical context. In this post, I’ve featured two songs that creatively address color identification while targeting some additional goals as well!
Some of the goals addressed in these songs:
Increase ability to identify colors
Improve critical listening skills
Improve fine motor skills
Increase ability to utilize palmar grasp
Improve ability to follow directions
“Flower, Stand Tall” is a peppy song that can be quite challenging for clients and students. For this song, I arrange jingle bell wrist scrunchies into a pile in the middle of the circle. I encourage the clients and students to listen carefully, and then pick up the jingle bell that is the same color as the one named in the song. As the music plays, I have them shake it high in the air.
A different color is featured in each verse, which makes for a fun learning opportunity. As an even greater challenge, I will pass out bells to each participant, and they must wait to play until their color is named. Waiting for their color to be called is a way to target impulse control as well as critical listening.
The song “Flower, Stand Tall” can be adapted to become increasingly challenging. For some groups, I may pass out two bells to each child. For others, I may decide to vocalize only the starting letter of each color (“Rrr flower, stand tall”), which is an adaptation that works well for clients and students who are working on letter sounds and pre-reading skills.
Any way you slice it, “Flower, Stand Tall” is sure to be a motivating song that addresses several important skills!
I love using rhythm sticks in my sessions, and “If You Know the Color Red” has been the latest hit song in my music therapy sessions and music classes. This song uses a familiar melody so that it’s easy to sing along to right away, and each verse has a fun rhyme (which my clients and students always love)!
Before starting the song, I typically prime my clients and students by having them identify colors, and also brainstorm various ways to play the rhythm sticks. By having a short primer prior to singing, the children are prepared and have an additional opportunity to practice their skills.
For “If You Know the Color Red”, I printed out visual aides for each color. Conveniently, the visual aide is linked in the facilitation guide (available to members of Listen & Learn Plus), so I didn’t have to spend extra time creating one.
Often, I will omit the color in the lyrics, hold up the visual aide, and give my clients and students an opportunity to identify and sing the color they see, which presents a chance for the kiddos to practice verbalizing colors and exploring their singing voices! Other times, I will ask them to identify an object in the room that is a certain color, and once they do that, then we sing the verse about that color.
I hope that these two colorful songs will inspire you and remind you of spring days sure to come! Both songs present adaptable opportunities to practice important life skills as well as early academic skills.
I’d love to hear from you: which songs are inspiring you this month?
You can listen to all of these songs in their entirety right here. Lyrics, chords, mp3, and instrumental track for these original songs are available for download. As is the case for all Listen & Learn Music creations, we invite you to adapt this song as needed to best serve your students and/or clients.

That's Higher, Mac or Home windows?
This Week’s Dialogue: Windows 10 As opposed to MacOS
Apple’s software program has long been heralded as a Higher designed and less difficult to use the gadget, with Home windows being a less smooth but more adaptable choice. Is there nonetheless fact to that oversimplification? Nicely, both structures at the moment are so feature-congruent that the antique rivalry doesn’t precisely keep actual anymore. each structure offer all the major functions you’d assume of a contemporary working gadget and, for each day usage, the general public might be high-quality with either.
Mistakes loading media: Record couldn’t be played
It’s the info, though, wherein they differ. If you’re a gamer, you’ll probably need to stick with Windows mainly because you may adapt your own hardware to fit your desires. That could imply constructing a soup-ed machine from scratch or simply upgrading your portraits card.
On the disadvantage, Windows is greater of a goal for viruses and malware really due to the fact the diverse variations of Home windows have a lot of the market share that it’s a clean target. That doesn’t imply MacOS is proof against malware; it’s just a much less frequent target.
both MacOS and Windows 10 have voice assistants, with Cortana on Windows and Siri on Mac. While they may be beneficial when you simply want to test the weather or look for some thing on-line, we’ve determined that we don’t use all of them that an awful lot. It feels a little much less natural than using voice assistants on a telephone and computer microphones don’t always paintings that Properly.
The largest distinction among the 2 is the surely the hardware you is probably the use of. To dive into what sets the 2 apart I was joined On the show by way of Christina Warren and Alex Cranz of Gizmodo. Apple’s laptops had been for decades a relative gold fashionable for Nicely-designed, solid, daily use computers that you could purchase with out fretting approximately the specifications very much. There are numerous cheaper options, however, a MacBook Pro just works. But, latest updates to the MacBook Pro line that include the specific Touch Bar lead them to especially highly-priced If you need high-stop specifications. In case you need to apply MacOS, even though, you’ll essentially be tied to Apple’s hardware. (Or you could try to pass the ‘Hackintosh’ course—that is, installing MacOS on non-Apple hardware.)
Home windows, by using evaluation, is designed to work on a huge variety of hardware, from laptops to desktops and touchscreen tablets. Which means you may spend just a few hundred greenbacks to get a low-cease Home windows PC, however, Microsoft has also made a push with new high-give up hardware just like the Surface E-book. There’s also plenty of middle floors, with the Dell XPS 13 generally advocated as a notable price. After which, of direction, In case you need to build you’re personal tricked out a rig for gaming or other processor-in depth packages, then Home windows is clearly the pleasant preference.
Our Improvements of the Week
Every week to round out The Upgrade with the little Enhancements of our personal. Here’s a brief recap:
Andy: I’ve been the use of big ice cubes. Undoubtedly large ice cubes—approximately inches throughout. People say they’re Higher for drinks because they soften slower so that your drink doesn’t emerge as watered down; I don’t virtually realize if that’s the case, however, I like them anyway. I exploit those silicone trays for my massive ice. Eric: Eric’s been the usage of Data Selfie to track his Fb utilization. It saves Information regionally and generates a file that suggests you what Facebook can tell approximately you out of your conduct—like the Humans you communicate to maximum, your political leanings, or even your emotional kingdom. Thorin: Thorin’s Upgrade is going on at the grocery shop. Recently, a collection of food manufacturers has agreed on a brand new standardized manner to label expiration dates to Better reflect whether or not your food is sincerely nonetheless safe to eat.
Macs for Home windows users
This isn’t always going to be one of these traumatic “Gee, isn’t the Mac outstanding?” or “Why I selected the Mac over Home windows” articles that Apple lovers have inflicted On the rest of the world for years. I’ve had my fill of these – and they do not get any Higher, despite the fact that I’m a Mac person now.
I am penning this column for the likes of my colleagues Rome, an extended-time Windows consumer who Currently offered an iBook, or Connie, who dreams of getting one unfastened from her editor.
Windows users are specific from novices. Formed through years of enjoying, they method a laptop looking ahead to do things in a sure way. Dissonance sets in after they find that the not unusual tasks they used to carry out on Home windows are now not to be had – or, as more likely the case, accessible through a unique set of commands. Here then, is some practical recommendation from a person who is been in the trenches.
Delete. The “delete” key on a Mac doesn’t work like its Home windows counterpart. Instead of deleting the person to the right of the cursor and ultimate up to space, the Mac delete works just like the backspace key. To get Windows-fashion delete, maintain down the “fn” key before hitting the delete key.
Of Mice and Macs. Apple best Lately discovered the advantage of a proper mouse button. don’t fret. Any antique USB optical mouse will work. I for my part choose an awesome wheel to the little button on Apple’s Robust Mouse. just as in Windows, you may right-click on on an icon to activate a context-sensitive menu. On a pocket book Touchpad, maintain down the “ctrl” key and click on an icon to get the same effect.
Home windows Media Participant. Forget Home windows Media Player for the Mac. The reviews were instead bad. In fact, Forget QuickTime, which may not play AVI or WMV files, and won’t cross complete display screen except you Improve to a paid version. Download VLC Media Participant (http://www.Videolan.Org/), a free multi-platform application so that it will do all the above and play DVDs, MP3 and MP4 documents as well. For some reason, VCD playback is uneven, so for that, you can use MPlayer (also loose) or QuickTime.
Itunes, ShmyTunes. Many Human beings swear through iTunes, but If you don’t have an iPod, you’re likely Higher off the usage of VLC Media Player to play your music. It is less intrusive – it may not provide to experiment your tough disk for songs, attempt to sell you track, provide you with unnecessary statistics approximately licensing or devour up greater disk area via duplicating your songs in its own directory. It’s going to simply play your sweet tunes. On an iBook, VLC will also play music louder.
Record institutions. So how do you inform a Mac to continually use VLC to play your AVI or MP3 files? clean. proper click on any MP3 Record and pick “Get Data” from the context menu. inside the “Open with” phase, pick VLC Participant. Then click the Change All button to use the identical File association everywhere else.
Finding stuff. Locating documents At the Mac can be a challenge In case you’re used to Windows Explorer. Macs have Finder, which has subtle variations. The sidebar on Finder is not similar to the folders view on Explorer, which offers you a hierarchical view of your listing. The pinnacle 1/2 of Finder indicates you what drives – inclusive of the ones on a community – that you can get right of entry to. The lowest half of-of the sidebar incorporates shortcuts to folders and documents you operate regularly. At the same time as you are nonetheless familiarizing yourself with Finder, strive the use of Spotlight, a effective search software that permit you to locate what you want speedy. simply click On the blue and white icon At the top-right part of the screen and sort. Spotlight will fast bet what you need.
Ways to pores and skin a Mac. With the feasible exception of games, most Windows XP packages have Mac opposite numbers. For instance, there’s no Mac version of my preferred BitTorrent patron, uTorrent, but an application called Transmission does the identical task very well. There are variations of MS Office for the Mac, of the path, but there may be additionally a freeware equal called NeoOffice. The FTP software I take advantage of on XP, WS FTP, is not available On the Mac, however, I have were given Cyberduck working simply first-rate. On the spot messaging? Forget Yahoo or MSN Messenger and get Adium.
