A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.

I’ve been reading a lot of Tim/Kon lately since I’ve been in a batfam mood and Tim is my blorbo. Core 4 poly is also up there is good shit whether it’s platonic, queerplatonic, romantic, or sexual. It’s not right now but my other batfam ships are Tim+Cass siblings and Tim/Jason romo.

I just started Dunmeshi and yeah I can see why Farcille is good. This too is yuri.

Uhhh *does a quick backscroll through tumblr and my ao3 history* Luke+Leia is just *squeezes* so shaped. There’s a reason they’re both blorbos. Murderbot and Art are in no way romantic and I’m not sure I’d classify them as queerplatonic but god those two are just… look they’re very important to each other and are each others most important relationship but they’re both non-human sentients so it’s hits different in a very non-romo way.

B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.

I mean unless the show or story itself is pitching a ship I tend to need to be convinced. I’m very aroace-spectrum where unless the show is shoving the blorbos together (hello miraculous ladybug love square my beloved) I usually need fandom to hold my hand and explain why the blorbos go together. I think Ez may have sold me on Tristan/Teddy or at least taken it from “I think they’re neat” to “yes yes yes.” A lot of my strongly held shipping beliefs can trace back to someone in fandom going “I care a lot” and me going “hell yeah I’ll join you on this hill.” So yeah. I’m pretty easy to convince but I don’t always get there on my own just from canon itself.

G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?

The answer is yeah of course I do, I love shipping. Live and let ship all the way. The problem is that while I believe in one ship above all others I also believe in both polyamory and the inherent joy of the fandom bicycle. So while I may fully believe in Stucky — for example — as soulmates, Steve is bicycle-blorbo shaped and thus I will ship him with anyone a fic or author makes a compelling argument for. Which undermines the whole “one true” part of OTP. Love to hold multiple conflicting OTPs in my heart and know them to all be true. Love even having OT3s.

As for my oldest? 🤔 I’ve been talking a bunch with the gc about Ranma 1/2 and how my gateway into fandom early on was Ranma+Sailor Moon. I’m pretty ship and let ship with SM but I do genuinely like and enjoy Usagi and Mamoru together even though I’m from a fandom tradition that paired Usagi with what seems like everyone else. I guess the early ship that I was like no these two belong together in a romo way and shouldn’t be separated or shipped with other people was Percy Jackson/Annabeth Chase. I’ll vibe with most Harry Potter ships except Drarry but I read HP and PJO at around the same time and was like no these two demigods are meant to be together, do not interfere.

3 ships / First ever ship: imma do both so i can talk about more

first: white rose, or ruby/weiss for non rwby people. i just love the dynamic, the way they compliment each other, the aesthetic, everything really. also nostalgia because they‘re basically how i learned yuri fanfiction was a thing. no, that‘s in reverse actually, i googled yuri fanfiction and a fanfiction.net list that featured them prominently showed up and the rest is history. also the reason i joined tumblr. also have i told you about my cats weiss and—

sylvaina, or sylvanas/jaina. everyone knows warcraft and sylvanas right? the epitome of broken woman refusing to give up, which is paralleled in jaina on opposite sides of a brutal conflict. it‘s just two deeply hurt women coming together despite or maybe because of themselves, and finding healing where they thought it was beyond them. for some reason that appeals to me, don‘t read into it. also: go read sylvaina fanfiction. genuinely think there’s some of the best fanfiction period here. also also the reason i have a elven necromancer tattooed on my arm, and a cat named sylvanas, maybe—

doctor/kal’tsit. the one arknights ship i‘m genuinely obsessed with and there’s so little for it there, very cruel. there’s just so much here thematically, though. two ancient people trying their best to unfuck a world on a collision course with oblivion, and clashing over it. honestly both are too complex as character’s to break it down easily here, but arknights understanders should get it even if their obsession lies elsewhere. the next time i get a new cat (which hopefully will not be for a while) it‘s gonna be a kelshey

pricefield, max/chloe from life is strange. this one feels the most like a surprise considering my blogging habits, i think. something about telling the universe or fate or whatever to fuck all the way off just stuck with me though. also stole chloe‘s sleeve, and i‘m a bit pissed they blacked it out in the comics for some reason

Last song: alesana - the murderer, very nostalgic. sometimes you just wanna murder a room full of people and yell about it, you know? one of my favorite breakdowns, too. something about shouting are you ready to die? repeatedly is just very nice for letting loose. it‘s also part of a concept album, that in turn is part of a trilogy but let‘s not get into it

Last movie: pacific rim just a few days ago. don‘t really like movies too much but come on, giant robots versus kaijus

Currently reading: a few things. the murderbot diaries by martha wells, for one. taking a robot and letting it be inhuman and still a person and be treated as such is something we need more of. then a bunch of nonfiction, manufacturing consent first for obvious reasons and a bunch of marxist basics that i really should have read years ago

Currently watching: gundam origin. decided to work my way through chronologically, no clue if that‘s s good idea or not, but it sure makes a very big task more approachable. bunch of airing animes, too, as is tradition. cried myself through the first to episodes of frieren

top 3 books: network effect by martha wells (book 5 and first novel in the murderbot diaries series); the martian by andy weir; the king's men by nora sakavic (book 3 of the all for the game series, makes me feral)

top 3 fics i'm willing to admit to on main: Unstoppable (untamed fic), the most remarkable thing (stranger things fic), crust and sugar over (yuri on ice fic)

i had a very boring and sleepy day but one fun moment is when some coworkers and i stood around waiting for a late meeting and started comparing which universities our job has given us random beef with lmao

I am very much in love with the Tarot Sequence by K.D. Edwards (so far The Last Sun, The Hanged Man, and The Hourglass Throne). The worldbuilding is so fun (what if Yuri Gagarin got to space and was like, 'what is that huge-ass island over there that's not on any of our maps?' and everyone on Atlantis was like 'fuck they saw us' and then stole everyone's abandoned buildings and moved them to Nantucket) and the magical system is really interesting (basically DND spell slots turned into something beautiful with narrative and emotional significance). All the angst and trauma (and there's a lot of it--the protagonist's backstory comes with so many trigger warnings, with, like, lights and sirens, so be aware) is counter balanced by all the love and healing as the characters create their own found family. The kids and teenagers they acquire are funny and interesting and powerful but still definitely act like kids and teenagers and the adults have to figure out how to deal with that appropriately. The fight scenes are detailed and specific without getting bogged down so I never got lost in who was doing what and how. The narrator's voice is a delight. Also there's an Elasmotherium named Flynn and a ferret named Remus.

A little review of my reading in the first quarter of 2022! I read 12 books (in a very chaotic way where I took a month to read one that was about 180 pages, and then read 4 in two days or something), and have concluded that being a student is not conducive to reading for pleasure:

Two from Ann Leckie’s Imperial Radch series (Ancillary Sword and Ancillary Mercy), which I’ve now finished, after reading the first in the series in December 2021

One from Martha Wells’ Murderbot Diaries (Fugitive Telemetry, a novella), which I’m also now up to date with after reading the first five novels/novellas throughout 2021

One from Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series (The Hanging Tree) - this was the sixth in the series, which I’ve been reading on and off since 2019 and still am not caught up on, because he writes them faster than I read them

One from Megan Whalen Turner’s Queen’s Thief series (The Thief), which I’d like to try and read a few more books from before the end of the year!

One standalone by Yuri Olesha (Envy), which was a very interesting read but took me forever

Four from Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan Saga (two novellas, Labyrinth and The Borders of Infinity, and two novels, Cetaganda and Brothers in Arms), which takes me up to #6 (not counting the novellas) in my own chronological-and-focused-on-the-vorkosigans reading order; also, a reread of Shards of Honor, the first in the series

One from D.K. Broster’s Jacobite Trilogy (The Flight of the Heron) - I’m currently undecided on whether I’ll read the rest of the trilogy some time soon, or whether I’m happy to take it as a standalone like I did with The Final Empire/Mistborn

Currently I’m about halfway through Mary Renault’s The Last of the Wine, the reading of which I rudely interrupted in order to frantically read all those Vorkosigan books and then failed to resume when I got distract by Megan Whalen Turner and D.K. Broster - I might try and finish it in the next few days and then go back to the Vorkosigan Saga for a bit, because I read those ridiculously quickly.

If your character isn’t on this list, make sure to check this page to see how many stars that character has earned this month! Stars can be used for purchases at the marketplace.

The blogs that were removed from the Isola Radiale masterlist are under the cut. Note that both blogs with broken links and deactivated accounts will be included both at the top of this list and in their proper categories.

If you were removed in error, please simply send a re-application message. Several different people work on the activity checks, so it’s possible there are mistakes! If this happens to you, you will be able to keep everything you previously had, you just may be placed in a different residence.

Our general activity rules regarding checks are as follows:

Make at least two in-character posts during a calendar month (for instance, if the activity check is for January, have three in-character posts between the 1st and 31st of January).

The activity requirement will return to three posts for July's activity check.

Only one drabble and/or meme response of 300+ words counts as activity.

One-liners or minis not tagged #isola mini also do not count.

Please Note: Anyone removed during the activity check will have a 12-hour window from the time of posting to re-claim their character. Any character not reclaimed during that period will be open to the community at large.
