For the ask thingie how about kanda + “you really are an idiot, huh” 😭
CLEO HI !!! im sorry i didnt realize this was ur main im so sLOW !!!! [insert clown emoji] but this was such a cute little sentence !!! i hope you enjoy it!! my favorite fact about kanda is that hes into gardening bcos it is THE CUTEST FACT EVER i thank hoshino every night before i go to sleep for that honestly !!! <333 it got a little out of ahnd so im putting some of it under a read more !! :') <3333 (also i do not know a lot about gardening so this might feel like a random set of plants but thats bcos theyre the only plants i know IJSUFHUSEFHSE)
Tumblr media
The first Sunday in May is an important day in your household. It’s repotting season in Kanda’s small indoor garden. You help him as much as you can with great joy but must admit that you don’t really have the same green thumb as your husband does.
Not all plants are repotted today but he usually goes around and inspects the plants the two weeks up until today to determine which needs a new pot and which can stay in their current ones. It’s a fun experience for you, to see your oh-so-stoic husband so relaxed, talking to his plants as if they had life – which they do of course, but you seem to disagree on what kind.
In front of the worktable there’s seven plants situated. Next to the table there’s two bigger pots requiring new soil, he says. Next week you’re going to attend the flowers in the garden outside and it’s also the time where Kanda blossoms. This is your favorite season.
There’re two cacti in need of new pots and Kanda looks in the back cabinet after some in appropriate sizes for them, ranting about how his Monstera has grown so much in the last year that he might need to buy a new bamboo stick for it. “Didn’t we buy one a month ago?” you ask, situating the plants after which you know how to help with. You hear him sigh, “no that was the one for our tomatoes.” He sounds almost exasperated but after being married for so many years you detect the small smile – he’s happy to share any and all thoughts about these subjects.
“Come and help for a sec,” he says and you go to him. He’s looking at two decorated flowerpots – one with lotuses on it, the other with a simple and green pattern. “Which do you think fits the current corner over there?” he points to the corner filled with a good section of plants you’re not entirely sure of the names of – you know one is a Snake Plant, because he bought it recently. They’re all dark green in hues so you decide on the lotus one – to give it some color. He grunts out a thanks and kisses your cheek.
You’re situated by the table, currently replanting a Spider Plant – or so you’ve been told – meticulously. Kanda’s already on his third plant but with your tongue sticking out, you’re still carefully letting the soil off of the roots. Kanda’s given you pointers before but he’s learned it’s best to let you do it in your own tempo. Before he gets up to repot the bigger ones, his hand gently grabs your face to get your attention and turns it towards him, “you’re so concentrated you’re not even listening,” he muses with a smirk, “I wanted to ask for a kiss.” He clarifies before he leans in. You lean into him with a smile before he pulls away and bops your nose with his pointer, “I’ll be on the floor, if you’re so scatterbrained and suddenly can’t find me.”
You want to rebuke him but all you do is stick your tongue out at him before you get back to work. Your fingers are dirty with soil but the serotonin boost it gets you feels nice, reconnecting a bit with nature. You think this might be why Kanda enjoys it so thoroughly.
When you’re satisfied with the loose roots of the plant, you start to fill the fresh soil into the new pot halfway, making a hole in the middle so that you can gently sink down the plant. You then put soil on top of the newly situated plant and with a proud nod, you call to Kanda so that he can praise you. You hand it to him and he grunts out a positive hum, nodding approvingly, “not bad.”
With newly sprouted confidence you go to grab another handful of soil, a new pot, and the cactus that’s to your left. It’s the taller one with three … sprouts? You’re not sure what to call them – you’d classify them as three cacti but Kanda’s assured you that they’re not.
You’re not completely aware of your surroundings or your thoughts you because before you get to lift the cactus off of the ground and towards you, a prickling sensation and sharp pain erupts in your entire hand. You yelp out and drop the cactus immediately – even though it hangs on to you for a few seconds longer than you’d like.
Kanda’s up immediately at your sound of distress, his reflexes serving him well. You whine as you drag your arm towards you to inspect the damage but Kanda takes it before it reaches your face. He inspects it with a small chuckle.
“I’ll go get the tweezers.”
You’re whining at every needle he pulls out of your taut skin. The need to pull your hand back and close it to a fist is strong but his grip on your arm is stronger. He tuts at you, “you really are an idiot, huh?”
“Not fair! You distracted me with your handsome face!” you argue with your underlip jutted out in a pout. He chuckles, “my back was turned to you.”
“Does that make you any less handsome?” you counter with an air of annoyance. He takes it in stride by smiling and gently rubbing circles into your arm with his thumb, “just keep still, I only need a few more.”
Another groan leaves you and he sighs and stills, “I’ll give you a kiss as a reward if you hold still.”
Your back straightens and your face turns determined. He smirks at your sudden resolve but continues his work in silence. He’s not sure how to express his gratitude that you’re always willing to join him on this day – even if you do get hurt during it.

One thing that struck me as interesting recently is the almost unreasonable trust people have for ChatGPT.
Recently, I ran across a Youtube video where the creator was talking about how she asked ChatGPT this and that and how convenient it was. This was strange to me as a simple Google search is able to do the same thing.
Tumblr media
For example, this is what I get when I search a question "Is Rigel hotter than Betelgeuse?" Google tells me that indeed Rigel is hotter than Betelgeuse. It also tells me that the info comes from the New Mexico State University website which I'd say is pretty trustworthy. So I don't see how using ChatGPT to ask such questions is easier or faster.
But there is a difference--that difference being that with ChatGPT, you're being "told" the information. Basically, you feel more catered to. When you use Google search, you feel like you're foraging for information. When you use ChatGPT, you feel like you have an assistant. There is a feeling of having something mysteriously intelligent answering your question for you.
I've also seen people who post delighted screenshots of ChatGPT telling them something they wanted to hear whether it's a snarky remark about their ex-boyfriend or a smart-ish commentary on sexism. People are free to find enjoyment in anything as long as it doesn't hurt other people, but what I found so interesting was how happy these people were that it was ChatGPT that told them this or that. It's one thing to feel happy and encouraged by a specific engineer you admire saying that she wishes for a future where more women enter STEM, but why does it matter if a machine-learning algorithm spews out a sentence--probably synthesized from millions of words it scraped from people who said something similar--that you like? How is it more meaningful than, say, a fortune you randomly drew?
Tumblr media
Here's fortune that I drew. It's from Kanda Shrine if I remember correctly. It says I'm very lucky moneywise. My friend made fun of me saying that the fortune was correct because I didn't find any merch I wanted on that day which meant I spent much less than I planned to. Anyway, ChatGPT saying whatever means no more to me than a random fortune I can buy from a shrine. I'd even say it means less than a fortune from a shrine since a shrine at least has some cultural significance. Also, it might mean something for spiritual people (Perhaps ChatGPT fans are techno-spiritual?)
My conclusion is that we shouldn't let techbros fool us into thinking that these algorithmic tools are intelligent in any capacity. The language surrounding these tools treat them as though they're independent, intelligent entities which they're not. I know a lot of my followers--you Tolkien fans--are passionate about language, so you'd know what I'm talking about. Language is a powerful tool. Right now, it's being used to mask the theft and lies of these tech capitalists. But we shouldn't let ourselves be fooled.

D gray man + Language.
Some headcanons for dgm's 20th anniversary!!
Allen
Native language: English. As a child, he spoke with a thick cockney accent. As a young man, he speaks in a delicate, posh-British accent.
Learned language: none that he knows of. In his past life, he may have had every language for all he knows; he doesn't remember, obviously.
Love language (giving): quality time. If he spends time with you, he's really letting you in, that means it's love.
Love language (receiving): food 😅 but also words of affirmation. If you cook for him AND you say nice things about him, he's in it for the long haul.
Lavi
Native language: would probably never tell you. But. Its the language spoken by only the bookman clan. [Spoiler] what were they called in chapter 251? I was confused about the term "bookman" vs the clans actual name, I'll have to go over it again. Their language.
Learned language: several, including English. Won't tell you that either, you'll just hear him speaking random languages sometimes.
Love language (giving): ...telling secrets. If he starts telling you things, which is kinda unlikely, then he's not just flirting.
Love language (receiving): understanding? Space? Idk but when you don't pry about his past and let him be who he is right now, he's happy.
Lenalee
Native language: Cantonese. We're never really told where in China Lenalee came from, so this hc is kinda random. But there you go.
Learned language: English. She speaks with an almost perfect British accent after spending so much time around the language but every once in a while she has a bit of the accent she had in childhood.
Love language (giving): acts of service! She's a caring person and likes to be there for other people when they are in need. Caring for you means she loves you.
Love language (receiving): also acts of service! If you take the time to care for her as she does for everyone else, it makes her feel special.
Kanda
Native language: probably English, but he speaks it with an accent no one can place. This is because he and Alma were raised by Edgar and Twi, mostly, who had German and Chinese accents. So his is an unusual mesh of them.
Learned language: he can't speak French, but he can read it. Tiedoll taught him.
Love language (giving): acts of service, physical touch, and quality time. The type to ask you every day if you've eaten and if he knows you haven't he just brings you food without you saying anything. Won't spend time with people he doesn't like (duh), and as for physical touch...he's just a very physical guy. Action is easier than words for him.
Love language (receiving): physical touch and patience oh my god. If you're patient and gentle with him, and like being affectionate with him, he's over the moon. Not that he'd say it. Bonus points if you like his tattoo, he's insecure about it.

Persona 5 IRL Stuff
Requested
Tumblr media
The entry and exit to each floor of Mementos is based on the appearance of train stations, and the stamps you collect for Jose are seemingly the game's version of train stamps lol.
I'm not sure if this is still true, but train stamps were introduced to me as something that smaller kids will collect when they travel with their families, so it makes sense to me that the NPC associated with them is also a kid. As an adult tourist, I've never bothered with train stamps cause you really have to go out of your way to find some of them and when I'm at a train station my ass is trying to go somewhere lol. I suppose that even in real life, some of those stamp locations must feel like they're random spawns.
I have absolutely bothered with red shrine seals, though. Maybe Persona 6 will have the protagonist collecting those.
Tumblr media
Ryuji takes you to a ramen restaurant in Ogikubo. Based on it being in Ogikubo and the appearance of the restaurant in-game, it's modeled after Marufuku Chinese Noodles near Ogikubo Station. The sign in-game just says "Chinese Noodles" without the store name. I'm not sure if this is a famous restaurant or maybe it's just one that Atlus employees like to eat at lol.
Tumblr media
Ryuji also takes you to a monjayaki restaurant in Tsukishima during his Confidant. You go to Tsukishima specifically because Tsukishima has a line of restaurants called Monja Street that specializes in, you guessed it, monjayaki.
Tumblr media
Akechi introduces you to a jazz bar in Kichijoji called Jazz Jin. The outside appearance seems to be based on Some Time which is also located in Kichijoji. Only the outside resembles what's in-game, though. The inside is different.
Tumblr media
Yongenjaya isn't a real place in Tokyo, but it seems to be a renamed version of Sangenjaya - san means 3, yon means 4. I've not been to Sangenjaya, though I've heard that details like the laundromat, even down to the vending machine, looks nearly the same as it does in-game. (If you are interested in doing Persona 5 tourism around Tokyo, I've heard that the Sangenjaya locals do not appreciate Persona 5 tourism or related loitering in this area.)
Tumblr media
Shibuya Station is pretty much accurate with how it is IRL. The green train car that you visit Tora at has been moved since the game came out, but the dog statue of Hachiko (or Buchiko as its known in game) is there, the 1000 stairs you climb to get to the Ginza Line, etc, is also all accurate.
Tumblr media
When you touch base with Ohya, you unlock Shinjuku. The movie theater in-game is called Cult 9, which is based on an actual movie theater in Shinjuku called Wald 9. The other areas in Shinjuku seem to be a condensed version of Kabukicho (or Kamurocho, if you've played Like a Dragon).
Tumblr media
Futaba wants to go shopping in Akihabara and Nakano. Akihabara you've probably already heard about as Nerd Haven. She also talks about visiting Nakano, likely to go shopping at Nakano Broadway which is home to a bunch of Mandarake 2nd hand anime/etc goods stores.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "huge pancake" that Morgana was talking about is how Tokyo Dome looks from the outside. The pancakes he's comparing it to are the thicc souffle-style fluffy jiggly pancakes that you can get at various restaurants. (Also probably what Akechi thinks of when he hears delicious pancakes lol.)
The other areas and things, I'm really not sure there's much to say about them.
Ann takes you to Harajuku cause she wanted to eat sweets (this is really relatable btw)
Meiji jingu is also real and located near Harajuku
The buffet Ann takes the guys to is the Marble Lounge, but I believe it's since been remodeled
There's multiple museums in Ueno
There's a Catholic church in west Kanda but afaik the inside looks different than in-game
Inokashira Park is real and has swan boats and stuff
Ikebukuro's planetarium is in Sunshine City Mall
Chinatown is real but it's much further than the map makes you think (it's in Yokohama)
Odaiba Seaside Park is another real location
Miura Beach is also real, way down south past Yokohama
Jimbocho is indeed where you'd go to buy books
etc etc etc

Here he is ....
... random funfact: he can't sit down his pants are too tight. Doll Lavi will never sit in a chair :'D this makes me laugh so much. Also I love how the sizes for him and Bookman turned out, it was such a good decision to get the small body for Bookman.
Still can't believe he is done. 1 1/2 years after I bought the first shell, a bit over a year after I got told he will not happen. I had given up on him to be honest.
For those who are interested, more insight babbling under the cut:
As I got the new head I was not sure if I could make it work for Lavi, the promotional photos were a bit blurred, I just hoped for the best. The arrival was not .. sparking much for me as he was just too tainted still. The thing I enjoy the most was making wigs and even that was kind of not working for him bc the fiber was weird to deal with. I decided to give him the body I originally bought for Kanda as the other one would mess up their heights, so he became a full doll earlier. As the body got shipped I painted the head and was still pretty bummed about it but I wanted to give it a try at least.
When I finally started working towards my emotional backlog regarding the dolls and wrote a blog entry about my 'tainted' dolls it somehow .. clicked for me? Like, I had painted the head short before I wrote the entry and I went the next day and repainted him, somehow I felt like the burden was gone and I started to bond with him???
January was a super intense doll month for me, I worked through more dolls than I did in the year prior, went down from overall 14 Work in Progress dolls to ... 6. That still baffles me a bit as majority was sewing and I don't even like sewing that much.
I got the first two days of February off and decided to give Lavi a try, he felt like a bottomless pit with all the details but somehow working on him, especially the harder parts, was ... okay? Like, yeah, it took forever bc it was so much hand stitching but as I went slow and had expierence from Lenalee & Bookman I was able to trust my skills.
On the third day as I cut the wig and put him next to my window for the almost final photos I just was in denial that he was done. I added the hammer then and ... I have a Lavi.
A doll I had given up upon, it feels like the "preorders of hell" are finally done, at least mentally, the whole situation, I feel like I am more free again. I enjoy having projects of course but it was a mental burden and it's almost gone.
Edit:
I have to say, now, 2 months after finishing him, getting in character photos of him done is hard as the face is limited and I kind of regret getting that body as it's just a brick. I'm glad though i swapped it as Kanda needs a body that allows more movement, Lavi in general is not the type for dynamic poses. Overall I still have to get used to him, but it's like that with a lot of dolls. The Storyteller needed 2 years :')

ALLEN WALKER IS A CLONE
okay, i KNOW this sounds SO FUCKING CRAZY, but hear me out.
alright, are you listening? good. i think Allen Walker is a clone for several reasons; a) his Innocence, b) Neah and the Noah memories, and c) the Second and Third Exorcists.
Reason A:
so the one theory i've seen circulating in the DGM community is that this mysterious man that the fandom has apparently dubbed "Past Allen" was deaged into the Allen we know and love. who did this? we don't know. it could have been Crowned Clown, a random wizard, or Apocryphos.
BUT! it doesn't make sense. (then again, DGM hasn't been making much sense lately, so..)
we've seen how some of the Parasite Type Exorcists get their Innocence; Krory got bit by a man-eating flower that passed it to him and Timothy had his stuffed down his throat to hide the evidence. (which is actually kinda fucked up? how exactly did his dad think he was gonna get that out? even if his Innocence would have survived that, he didn't know that! what was his plan? cut his own son up or wait for it to be shat out? i..don't think it would have, considering..)
Allen originally tells us that he was apparently born with it, though he doesn't have anyone able/willing to back that up. HOWEVER! we see (i think it was in that recent mega flashback, when Allen was telling Kanda his past) that the ringleader of his former circus did actually receive him from people he thought were his bio parents. that suggests that they looked enough like him that the ringleader didn't think twice about it!
(...anyone else thinking of Past Allen? or maybe a sibling that was in on the whole scheme?)
why i bring this up is that this ALSO suggests that Allen really WAS born with Crowned Clown. the synchronization didn't happen at a later date, and i'm pretty sure Allen was a newborn. like, MAYBE a month old. the process probably would have killed him had it happened then. why i think it didn't when he was supposedly still in the womb? his body was still developing, so it probably wouldn't have known that THAT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
i mean, i'm not a biology nerd, but i'm pretty sure developing baby bodies don't really know what's right or wrong in the shape of the baby. like, they have instructions, but sometimes those manuals are wrong in some way and things like deformities or Down Syndrome happen. this is normal. Allen's still developing baby body probably thought this random Innocence shard was apart of it or something..
anyways, i don't know how it happened, but i do believe Allen is not Past Allen because of this. he was most likely born with it instead of deaging and picking it up somewhere along the way.
(Crowned Clown could have either snuck it's way inside Allen's container, or Past Allen purposefully put it in there. or maybe there's a secret third option i'm not thinking about.)
moving on!
Reason B:
@wearethehallowe brought up a very good point the other day; Neah's Noah memories did not exist prior to his separation of Mana.
we know that ever since the Great Flood, every human who has ever lived had dormant Noah memories in their DNA waiting to activate. this means that Past Allen should have had one of the original 13 Noah memories - not Neah's. they didn't exist by the time Past Allen was born.
so...how, exactly, did Neah pass his memories onto Past Allen?
he got Cross to help.
Cross is a necromancer. i don't know if he can manipulate souls like the Earl can, but he can definitely do things. (Grave of Maria and the reprogrammed Akuma.) he would totally be able to help pass Neah's memories onto Past Allen.
now, you might be thinking, "How does this tie into Clone!Allen?"
Neah's memories didn't exist beforehand, he had to manually put them into another person. that means Allen wouldn't have the memories in him if he was a normal human.
now, there IS a chance he actually is a normal human, and he just got the memories because Past Allen is his bio dad....
but..that doesn't really explain why he looks so similar to him. normally, a human child would look like a mixture of their parents, NOT an exact replica. yes, Allen currently does not look like him due to his hair and scar and arm, but had he not been cursed he would have looked like a twin of Past Allen's or something. i don't think that's normal in biology.
onto the next point!
Reason C:
ah, the Second and Third Exorcist projects.. you guys were NOT okay whatsoever, but you did prove something!
and that something is that artificial humans can be created and that at least ONE group knows how to make them!
now, it's pretty obvious that Allen isn't the same as Kanda or the Third Exorcists. Kanda has a weird orb in his body that keeps it together and regenerates/heals his injuries. the Third Exorcists can heal from their injuries, but can't regrow lost limbs like Kanda. Allen has not been shown to have that same ability that those with artificial bodies have - if you don't count his regenerating cursed eye and his slightly faster than average healing (i remember this being mentioned though i could be wrong).
HOWEVER! that does not mean he isn't artificial! it just means that, if he is a clone, whoever made him knew how to create artificial bodies right.
i think Cross was 100% in the dark about the cloning. jury is still out on Neah. his reaction to Allen's face that one time when he slammed Johnny's head into the wall could have been because he wasn't expecting the cloning to work or he truly didn't know about it. (or, the Deaging Theory.) either way, it definitely happened after his death.
Cross didn't recognize Red in Allen's retelling to Kanda and was pretty damn surprised when Timcanpy prevented him from killing Red. so, whoever did the cloning either didn't do it with magic or they learned enough magic/science to pull this off.
that just leaves one person who could have done this. Past Allen.
now, i remember seeing another theory about Past Allen being Bookman's previous apprentice before Lavi, so he could have learned something from him when he was a Bookman member. OR he learned the magic from Cross. either way, he was the one who did it.
why did he do it? i think it was supposed to be a back-up plan. Neah's back-up plan was passing his memories onto Past Allen in case he died. with the knowledge of how rare and important these memories are, Past Allen would be just as paranoid and would have a plan c in case anything happens to HIM before Neah could awaken. (he is literally one in a million! he needs to keep those memories safe at all costs!)
so Past Allen learned how to clone himself after Neah's death AND without Cross' knowledge, passed the torch onto Allen (possibly because he knew his time was coming and Neah was still not making any signs of life), sold him to the circus and dropped off the face of the earth. i believe he died shortly after Allen was handed off to the circus but i don't have an exact date. probably within the first few years of Allen's life.
i don't know how he died or if the Noahs were involved at all, but i HIGHLY doubt Mana knew about him/his death. it was most likely an accident/normal death or one of the newly awakened Noahs. i also believe the reason why he chose a CIRCUS to take care of him instead of an orphanage or something similar is because it was a traveling circus. less likely to be found by the Earl if he's constantly moving, you know?
anyways.
that..still leaves about 20 years between Neah's/most of the Noah Clan's deaths and Allen's "birth". i don't know what he was doing during this time, but he started making clones at some point. there might be multiple clones and Allen was just the lucky one. or, the only one to survive.
but there you have it! all the reasons i believe Allen Walker might be a clone!
(..i have a Mana theory if anyone's interested in hearing it..)

An random headcanon or scenario no one asked for.
If the cast played Just Dance (no i dont play or own the games i just heardof it and seen it), Allen would own everyone at the song Level Up. Kanda would challenge him out of spite and Lavi would try to because he wanted to be included. Lavi would be on the ground dying at the end of it. Kanda would be pissed he lost but also just fine. Alma would lose his shit because "damn Yuu that was so hawt!"
Lavi would own at Hips Dont Lie I think, something with hips moving. For whatever reason I think he'd make a great belly dancer.
Couple dances? Would be a blast. Komui and Jerry love to dance to Promiscuous together. Don't ask just enjoy.
Cross enjoys the song So What, don't ask why.
What do you think each character would dance to or who with and why. Would they suck at it or be awesome.

Each couple in Tsurezure children rated (spoilers)
(sidenote: these rates don't (necessarily) reflect if a couple would be good together but rather if their comic strips are fun to read)
Saki Kanda/ Haruhiko Takase - 2/10
They are kind of the main couple of the series but the only thing they have going on for themselves are the constant misunderstandings that define their comic strips. Oh and not being able to talk about their feelings. Aside from a couple creative misunderstandings, their drama gets stale and old *really* fast.
Haruhiko Takase / Alice Himemiya - 8/10
Alice's whole dark humor yandere act was a little- much at the beginning, but later on found it's curve rather nicely. Takase rejecting Alice at the end of their arc was both believable and realistic ending to them, and his rejection was nicely written. I admit to getting just a tiny bit emotional. Also Alice ending up helping Kanda because she grows to wish for Takase to be happy even if it's with someone else is beautiful.
Alice Himemiya / Akimasa Noro - 4/10
Noro's main stitch of thinking Alice is into him when she is very clearly not isn't badly written but the constant misunderstandings does grow old - which is why I'm glad that particular plot thread wasn't that long. When Noro comes to comfort Alice after she gets rejected, the scene was nice and the emotions good. I just wish they didn't end up together (sorta-kinda) afterwards since that required for Alice to get over her god knows how long infatuation with Takase in like three seconds flat and reeks of pair the spares. Them becoming just close friends would have been awesome.
Yuki Minagawa / Jun Furuya - 7/10
Full disclosure, I didn't really like Minagawa's character at first. I found her constant teasing kind of annoying. It got especially annoying when Furuya did start liking her back but couldn't tell if she was being sincere with her feelings because of her relentless teasing. Like maybe it's just my own issues talking but toying with someone's feelings ain't cool. That said, their relationship progresses nicely, and they have some really cute moments together. And the later part of their arcs focusing more on Minagawa bonding with Furuya's little sister Hotaru instead of their now pretty stable relationship is both fresh and cute. Near the end of the story when Minagawa and Hotaru (said little sister) get their own platonic get together moment, I admit to being moved. Like, Minagawa / Hotaru platonic relationship was 9/10, I loved it.
Hotaru Furuya / that random guy at the end - 6/10
Now this relationship is just a book end for how Minagawa and Furuya's first comic strip played out in the manga. The book end is nice, but there is no relationship to get invested in since it's just one comic strip. Which leads it to being just, okay.
Chiyo Kurihara / Takao Yamane 8/10
Takao's low self esteem is played for both drama and comedy, but affects things pretty realistically. The early dynamic with Takao's struggle to connect with Chiyo added to his wonderfully written friendship with Tomomichi is fun. I especially love when early on, Tomomichi is fast to assure Takao that their friendship isn't so fragile that they have to hang out all the time, which is later mirrored with Chiyo assuring Takao that their relationship isn't fragile like that either. Both the romantic and platonic relationships are shown as important. Oh and Chiyo going out of her way to show interest in Takao's hobbies is amazing.
Yukari Nashimoto / Kazuya Sonobe - 7/10
Their growing emotions are portrayed rather realistically, and Nashimoto's struggle with her body image is relatable (even if it's comically overblown at times). I like how the manga showed that her struggles with her self image did affect her relationships and actions big time, even leading her to rejecting Sonobe the first time he asks her out. Like, even when the manga was being light and comical, her anxieties did have real consequences - and realistic ones at that. Cute couple, good character arcs.
Fuyumi Toda / Yoshiharu Sunagawa 7/10
They aren't featured enough for their stoic joke to get old which is good. And they put a spin on it often enough to be fun. That said, Toda is a bit hard to get invested in since Sunagawa is the one doing the actual heavy lifting in their relationship.
Kimihito Onizuka / Sawa Yamada 3/10
Okay so they have pretty much only one joke and that is Onizuka's rapping thing. I does get kind of boring. But they have almost no misunderstandings, and are just nice to each other even from the beginning which is- nice. Now on the other hand Onizuka's friendship journey was 10/10, easily one of the best parts of the manga.
Ayane Matsuura / Urara Takahashi 9/10
Okay so this is a platonic relationship but GOD I wish they had gotten together. Their relationship is one of a drama club vice-president/newbie, and the struggles they face along the way are very real and handled well. It's like the dynamic most people seek from teacher/student relationships but without the inherent issues with such a dynamic. Urara is a bit of a hit or miss with her jokes tho (I mean I liked her well enough but yeah).
Kazuko Hosokawa / Shinichi Katori ???/10
So the comical value comes from Katori being- Katori. Which is fun. And when Kazuko gets in on the act, that is fun too - especially since Ayane is there to throw shade about it. And I did like that they didn't get together in the end. But ??? their interactions sometimes feel like a crack smoking AI wrote them. Like the kind of dialogue you write at three AM feeling real profound but when you read it in the morning it just sounds? Like, so much? Except they play the dialogue and actions completely straight which makes it work somehow? Idk
Chizuru Takano / Takuro Sugawara 7/10
Okay, so their relationship (especially early on) is also marred with increasingly stupid misunderstandings. But (especially Takano's) growing crush is really cute, and their relationship does have that puppy love feel to it which is adorable. Even while being relatively drama free couple, their relationships is just nice to read about - maybe because they are relatively drama free later on. Though I must admit the whole drama free thing works mostly because there are so many drama couples around they become a breath of fresh air instead of boring.
Noriko Yoshinaga / Takuro Sunawara 4/10
Okay so this isn't really a relationship that happens but since I included Hotaru/random guy, I decided to mention this too. So, Noriko confesses and gets rejected, and later supports Takano. It's just nice, I guess, that it just happened. No overblown drama, no misunderstandings (between these two, that is)- just, Noriko confessed and Sunawara rejected her. That's it. And then later Noriko supports Takano with her relationship with her ex-crush no problem.
Kana Ijima / Chiaki Uchimura 9/10
Their story starts with a misunderstanding but improves massively later on. While they have their comical struggles and moments, they also face some realistic problems that are often handled with maturity. Some of their fights are especially resolved with a level of maturity I didn't expect. When they "break up" and then get back together, that was a clear moment of growth for both of them (especially Chiaki) and their relationship. Tsurezure Children is a story (stories?) about high school children so statistics are sadly against all of them, making it likely some if not most of them won't make the distance. But I can really see these do making it.
Patricia Caulfield / Keisuke Tsuji 6/10
The sushi joke is cute enough, and I love when it spreads to affect other couples. But their main drama about moving forward in their relationship feels overblown. Like, a real issue and real conflicting emotions but the way it's written makes it seem like it's far more serious of a problem than it is. On the other hand tho they are high school kids and god knows at that age something like a first kiss with your date-mate can be The Thing. Their other main drama, however, about Patricia moving back to America is realistic while still maintaining the manga's easy atmosphere for the most part.
Ayaka Kamine / Takeru Gouda 8/10
They get together pretty much from the very beginning, which is really nice. That means their drama can be focused on developing their relationship instead of (like almost every other couple) trying to get together in the first place. Now most of their struggles are more, lowkey? Like, their big drama isn't about "oh, will we get married" but instead about "oh, I have to learn to communicate with my SO". It gives that first relationship feel which is cute. Also, Goda is pretty stoic but communicates well which I love. Kamine's drama about not wanting to be too clingy isn't the best tho. At times it actually feels kind of uncomfortable (most notably when she thinks she wishes he wouldn't talk to other girls).
Tomomichi Motoyama / Iori Enomoto 7/10
The mirroring between Tomomichi supporting Takao's relationship with Chiyo versus Takao supporting Tomomichi's relationship with Enomoto is precious. And Tomomichi is good character and deserved the added focus he got. Tomomichi has all these ideas about his place and what he can/cannot aim for, which is fun enough to read about. Him slowly gaining confidence to finally confess is a good character arc. That said, the story blunders greatly IMO by giving him both the confession and rejection. Like, Enomoto telling she already has someone she's into was a good enough twist - not all feelings are returned. But then the story cheats by having these two get together anyway. The first one is in itself a nice twist, while the latter makes Tomomichi finally act on all the advice he himself gave Takao early on, which is also nice. JUST NOT RIGHT AFTER ONE ANOTHER.
Takao Yamane / Tomomichi Motoyama 100000/10
Their friendship is perfect.
Sayaka Chiba / Yoichi Kirihara 7/10
Like most, I too had my teacher/student romance phase. But it is over and that's why their relationship scared the crap out of me as it developed. But then, in the end, he rejects her. It was amazing. Now, Chiba's interest in her teacher is written well and easy to understand. And Kirihara's growing in interest in her isn't written in a gross way, but rather in a way where it's easy to see how it could happen even if it should, under no circumstances, happen (I must repeat - no high school teacher should have romantic attraction towards their student). So for all that buildup to result in Kirihara still rejecting Chiba because them getting together would be grossly wrong was wonderful to me. Also, I liked their reconciliation afterwards since it was focused in them restoring their good teacher/student dynamic without romantic undertones.
Mai Tojo / Taichi Ogiue 6/10
Tojo's main stitch about being too shy to confess / not being ready to confess does get old, especially with all the bad communication added on. BUT them developing a friendship before getting together is WONDERFUL, and Tojo's confession at the end is super cute. And I loved how it subverted the whole "unheard confession" trope with Ogiue hearing her love confession she meant to whisper out loud just for herself. And then they just get together. Cute and fun.
Yuuki Kaga / Satsuki Sasahara 9/10
Kaga's emotional journey is one of the best written in the manga. It's relatable and feels real, even when he finds out that Sasahara is already in relationship with someone else. I especially loved how it was never a question of "winning her over" once he finds out and instead in the end he confessed simply to move on. And the rejection was just so well written; him bracing himself for the rejection he knew was coming, her being surprised and flattered but still firmly rejecting him, and then- just, even when Kaga knew Sasahara was already in love with someone else, the way he starts crying even while trying to stay strong when she run towards Yukawa with the biggest smile on her face- that scene always makes me cry.
Satsuki Sasahara / Hideki Yukawa 6/10
Their relationship is kind of out of focus since the love triangle between Sasahara, Kaga and Nanase is in the focus most of the time but it was still pretty lovely. They have very little drama, they are cute together and when they are in the focus, they are fun enough to read about. That said since Yukawa is really EXTRA out of focus he's almost no more than a satellite love interest.
Yuuki Kaga / Kaoru Nanase 6/10
Given that they have known one another for a long time, it helped give their relationship depth especially with *how* and *why* they got to the point where they are. I also like that their animosity wasn't born of some simple misunderstanding but rather something a little more grounded. That said, Kaga does move on too fast from his feelings towards Sasahara (a fact he lampshades himself) and Nanase does near bully him most of the time which I hate. So. It's a mixed bag. And THAT said, I did like Nanase's conflict between jealousy and wanting to actually be there for Kaga with his feelings towards Sasahara.
Chihiro Soma / Haruka Saejima 5/10
Their initial misunderstanding where Saejima thinks they are dating and Soma thinks they are training is- different enough to be fun but goes on for far too long. That said the fall out from the misunderstanding was good, and later on Soma's struggle to grow into being equals is also different from the other story lines. Too much drama that could be solved if Saejima wasn't about to pass out from how cute Soma is every five seconds, but I liked them.
Ryoko Kaji / Masfumi Akagi 9/10
I admit outright that I'm biased with this since Ryoko was, without doubt, my favorite character. Her character arc was amazing and she is amazing. But their relationship is fun to read since most of the drama in it is, in the end, external and them just reacting to it (the drama coming from her attempt to become a better student). Their (and especially hers) struggles with it feels real and authentic. I also like how Ryoko's character growth isn't centered around her romantic relationship (even if it is the main catalyst for it) but rather she forms connections with some friends and her mother too. Now this results in Akagi feeling a bit flat most of the time, but with him steadily supporting Ryoko and having his own thoughts and ideas it didn't bother me. Also him crying after hearing Ryoko got accepted into college was very moving. And I did like how he pushed her into forming those other meaningful relationships instead of wanting her to focus just on him. Only his borderline sexual harassment keeps me from actually liking him.
Erika Shibasaki / Shinji Ubukata 8/10
Erika's main character arc has NOTHING to do with romance which is good and stands out among the mostly romance based character arcs. Also their crushes develop believably. Now that said Erika is a bit- a lot annoying sometimes. As is Shinji. So really, it's a match made in Heaven. Their friends also supporting and teasing them is fun.
Erika Shibasaki / Ryoko Kaji 8/10
Not a romantic relationship but lowkey my favorite arc is Ryoko trying to retrieve Erika's Miss Wasibasi mask. Also, friendship.

you sent all of them-
When did you start writing on Tumblr? December of 2011!
Who was your first muse? On Tumblr It was Kanda Yuu from D.Gray Man hehe
Who are your longest rp friends? The people who have known me the longest are @infintasmal , @orecrowned , & @eraba-reta-unmei ! Met all these weenie's during my Magi days hehe
Favourite thing about roleplaying? I love being able to build up worlds and dynamics with other people. It does wonders to my mental health honestly. It also helps my creative juices come out.
Least favourite thing about roleplaying? The creation of drama over something so small. Like I need people to learn to communicate better if not just block and move on. Don't make a mountain out of an ant hill.
OTP for your muse? My biggest on this blog is MaoRitsu, which Elio is subjected to on a daily lolol. A new one is JingHeng
NOTP for your muse? I wouldn't say I have NOTP's just more of please don't be gross lol
What are some similarities between you and your muse/muses? This one works with Ritsu the best but I'm also a chronically ill person who struggles with old deep rooted abandonment issues. But therapy really does wonders haha. Also according to the internet Jing Yuan and I have the same Personality type same with Rei LOL
What are some differences between you and your muse/muses? I'm too self conscious to be clingy JFIOWFEJ
Would you be friends with your muse if they were real? Jing Yuan & Himeko 100%
Would you write with duplicate characters? How do you think your muse would react? I love writing with duplicates! As for how they would react- it would really vary. I don't think Ritsu would like too see another him stealing his Maa-kun's attention.
Have you any old muses that you’d love to bring back? I've been considering Judal from Magi!
What’s one random headcanon about your muse that people mightn’t know? Jing Yuan enjoys having his hair played with. It relaxes him enough to fall asleep.
Who is an author that inspires you? Rick Riordan! I grew up on a lot of his books.
What do you look for in a rp partner? Someone who is willing to listen and participate with my brain rot. I tend to be more invested when people talk to me about our muses.
Favourite trope? You'll see the trend but Childhood Friends to Lovers.
Least favourite trope? There's not a specific one, but I get uncomfortable with the uh...weird ones.
Are there any AU’s you’d like to explore but haven’t had the chance to yet? Honestly I've done so many au's you don't even know-. But I'll always do Royalty, Single Parent, & Soulmate.
Do you listen to music whilst writing? If so, what kind of music? I do! I usually listen to MafuMafu soundtracks. If not him then character specific playlists I make.
How do you overcome writer’s block? I give myself time to do other things and then come back later! Forcing yourself to overcome it isn't going to help. Let your brain recover from overuse!
Are there certain characters that you gravitate towards? I would say no but my friends would say otherwise EWIJFIOEJ
Short, medium, or long threads? I prefer Medium and sometimes short cause my attention span is god awful. But I don't mind long ones when I get into the mood.
Do you ever get jealous when rping? How do you handle this? I used to during my earlier days of rping, but I just remind myself that my way of writing my muses is different then another person. There's no need to compare myself. You also can't force people to pay attention to you.
What about your muse are you most proud of? I do a lot of research into the muses I write! A lot of thought goes into each character I portray hehe

Media Reflection: Tokyo->Persona 5
As I mentioned in my June 8 post, on my second free day I went around Tokyo and visited locations that were recreated in Persona 5, one of my favorite video games. The game’s artists were able to capture many famous spots around the city, and frankly it was a very exciting experience getting to see the places that I know and love from the game as they are in the real world. As described in my former post, the places I visited in Tokyo for this excursion were Akihabara, Kanda, Aiyana-Itchome and Shibuya (although I did visit more these are the ones which I have comparisons from the game).
Reflection:
Throughout Persona 5, the general atmosphere that is created in this fictional Tokyo is one full of life with colorful signs, streets filled with people, and lively music to illustrate how much energy there is throughout the city, and to boot, the city is also portrayed as incredibly clean. As a general rule this is exactly how Tokyo felt as I walked through the streets, and I cannot even tell you how many times I gave props to the creators of Persona who did such a good job recreating the atmosphere. I will now go through all of the locations I went to and describe how each one of them was recreated with pictures to help describe what I mean.
Akihabara:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In real life Akihabara was classically known as the tech center of Tokyo, but recently, it has mostly become the center of Otaku culture rather than tech although tech stores do still have their place there. Here, maid cafes and anime girls are everywhere the eye can see. Compared to the other locations on that are coming up on this post, I actually think this was one of the least similar. Although yes there are nods to the fact this is a place for otaku things, it definitely is mostly shown as a tech place (at least at first which is all I have seen in game). While this isn’t necessarily inaccurate, it definitely is a slight difference from the real world. However, the atmosphere created in the game is very accurate with all of the people constantly pushing through the street and the colorful signs shown everywhere. Also, I’m pretty sure there is in fact a maid cafe in game in Akihabara so I suppose that is accurate as well.
Kanda:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although in game it’s just a church, I would like to point out how well they recreated the vibe of this place of worship. Although much of the game has a very excited atmosphere, this place is one of the most relaxed places in game. This is exactly how I felt as I entered the church from the street and instantly experienced a shift from very high to very low energy (almost like walking into a library after walking through Disney world on a crowed day).
Aoyama-Itchome:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This place was one that I was particularly impressed with. Although the pictures look a bit different, they actually recreated the high school Shujin Academy from this part of the city and made it the one of the most important locations in game. I didn’t take a picture of the school itself out of respect for the students, but the idea that the same street can be found in-game despite it being a very random location otherwise is mind-boggling. Here they recreated the bustle of highschoolers and salarymen walking around quite well. I feel like this place in-game gives a good snapshot of what the commute of a lot of students and salarymen looks like in Tokyo.
Shibuya:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, I know I keep talking about energy, but let me tell you, the energy the game portrays in Shibuya is by far the greatest. Shibuya in-game does a great job showing how it feels to be a shopper in Tokyo. The streets are absolutely packed with people, there are workers everywhere trying to sell you things, and there are so many things to do there that it’s easy to lose track of your plans. To say that Shibuya is full of life in the real world is an understatement, and the creators of Persona 5 captured this perfectly.
Final thoughts:
It’s hard to describe, but the subtle differences that can be found in the different places throughout Tokyo are what make the city so special. Each section of the city has its own quirks and is worth a visit on its own merits. It is this accurate portrayal of these subtle differences in Persona 5 that it made me so excited as I walked through Tokyo my first couple days. I feel like the whole game was so good at portraying the city that is almost like a commercial of sorts. Honestly, if I ever start missing Tokyo in the future, I’m probably going to find myself walking through the game trying to see if I can spot any places I’ve been in the real world.
If you ever play Persona 5 and like what you see in game definitely give Tokyo a visit.

Birth to my Creation....it is finished. The Angie/Kirei-verse. Of course it was hard to determine what to add and what didn’t need to be so as to not be overwhelming, so I tried to keep it to just the pertinent relationships. (So like, extended family members like the rest of Lucien/Damian’s family and Elias’ family aren’t here even though they also have relations.) And also, some more scattered couples like Amara and Noita or Lyrica and Somnio aren’t here
And thanks to Tay/welivetoserve for giving me the name of the program she used!

Random LAD: Ishin thoughts/comments that I need to get out of my system.
Gonna try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible.
(WARNING: Incoming insane ramblings)
- Shimano fans: 1 - Kanai fans: 0.
- Oda/Shinji/Shindo/Kanda/Bacchus/Miss Tatsu fans rejoice.
- I was today years old when I found out that Saito from Y4 and Fumiya Ushijima from Y5 appear as (REDACTED) and (REDACTED). Yes, they were also in the original Ishin.
- I LOVE the four new remixes we got. Best boys get best remixes.
- ‘Pray me -Revive-’/’Pledge of Demon’/‘With Vengeance’/‘Sound's Storm’ join the game’s OST. NICE.
- WHY WOULD YOU REPLACE ISHIN’S AMAZING ‘The Rhapsody of Chivalry‘ WITH Y6′S ‘Town Bully’????!!!!one!!! I mean, I love ‘Town Bully’ but that change was not good in my opinion. The original fit the situation way better.
- THE MANLY BATH FIGHT IS NOW RUINED BECAUSE THE STEAM IS NOW A DARK, THICK SMOKE THAT CENSORS MOST OF THE SCENE, EVEN THE BIG SLAP. UNPLAYABLE. Go enjoy the original. (ANGERY ANGER)
- TOKUGAWA KAMEHAMEHA/HADOUKEN. Everyone’s a magical girl now.
- During the chapter that’s pure fire, everyone’s hair looks GOLD because of the shiny textures (this is an engine thing, I guess?).
- RGG removed the very last cutscene for some reason. It’s something that happens way into the future and doesn’t really show any previous character. I suggest you check it out because it’s nice.
- RIP ‘Clock Strikes’ - gone but never forgotten. Hello song from RGGO, I like you.

Hmmmm how to say. There’s a certain peerhood of character dynamic that comes from two people in a work being both girls/both boys/both neither. That isn’t to say that life isn’t fluid or that you can’t build a dynamic between male and female characters that ignores this divide.
To take an example at random—MP100. Emi, Asagiri, Tsubomi all interact with Mob as Girls. They’re foreign, agitating or destabilizing elements in Mob’s world (the audience’s world) as non-peers. His interactions with them are always in the context of Gee I’m Talking to a Girl. Mezato is an edge case but still Girl. Mob ends up misinterpreting her journalistic curiosity as interest in the Divine Tree arc, which only makes sense if she’s viewed as Girl before Classmate. Tome, on the other hand, is fully a Peer character. She’s Mob’s closest friend from what we see in-canon, they go on what he describes as ‘dates’, but she’s so far out of the Girl social role that Shigeo never associates her with the fresh intrigue of the Girls. Instead she’s a comforting, reassuring force on the story in the way that Reigen and Ritsu are. She even steps into Mob’s shoes for the oneshot! There are gendered roles and non-gendered roles and actual gender doesn’t have to define them. Tome is a girl and not a Girl.
So, it’s interesting to play around with his characters’ genders can shape even non-romantic dynamics, or how dynamic is itself gender. People who are similar feel kinship. A tomboy will hang out with boys on the playground or a kid bullied for being a sissy will be part of the girl group. That gets complicated when genders bend around in-story.
Specifically DGM Alma Karma was born from the transmigration of a woman’s soul into an an artificial male-assigned homunculus. Her/his/their key dynamic is with Kanda as two-of-a-kind. Both experiments, both exorcists, both (assigned) boys growing up together. The sense of sameness and equivalency is important to that relationship. They have no one else in the world like them except each other.
PastKanda’s dynamic with PastAlma also fits into a strictly gendered structure: Kanda is a brooding gruff man searching for a lost cheerful kind woman. They’re the action hero/deadwife cliché. Kanda has abstracted PastAlma away from any semblance of personality because he doesn’t even know her, he just has a vague impression. The woman is separate, unknowable, distant, and though Hoshino is a lady herself, the trope is a misogynistic one that relies on the idea that women are mysterious creatures rather than human beings with thoughts and dreams.
By then transposing the somewhat gendered relationship of childhood friends-twins-equals-peers on to the irrevocably gendered trope of sadman/deadwife, Hoshino then challenges the way that gender informs the whole story. Kanda’s view on Alma is wholly interior. Alma is himself reflected, openly expresses what Kanda feels and hides, is the one person who truly knows and understands him. Then his view on PastAlma is entirely exterior; she is an inscrutable ghost, an invisible gap in his life. Kanda has idealized PastAlma and resented Alma for a decade only to find out that they’re the same person. Which begs the questions: did he think of them differently just because he thought Alma was a boy? Was PastKanda even a man? Do we the audience read PastAlma as opaque just because she’s a woman, where Alma is such a lively screen presence? Would Alma present as a woman if she weren’t trying to go incognito, or did they genuinely identify with the boyhood he was assigned?
Who knows. Social pressures always weigh on the edges of a story. Even if they’re not obvious, they inform how events unfold and how audiences interpret them. Gender (patriarchy) is such a pervasive hierarchy that a writer/reader’s got to consider how it influences plot events. Alternately, ignoring it has got to be a deliberate choice and you’ve got to think hard to keep gender from sneaking into the reading (eg a perfectly neutral interaction between girl characters will read as misogynist between a girl and a guy).
