hiiii lysssss I’ve been mostly offline for the last week but I finally managed to get most of my python code to work but now I can’t figure out how to plot it and I still need to introduce a resetting rate and I have no idea how so I’m loosing my mind a little but it’s fine everything is fine <- said through gritted teeth

also I found a masters program I really love but I would have to pay wayyy too much money to go there (here I would have to pay a few hundred a semester and there it would be almost 30,000 in just tuition fees) and also my average seems to be too low by exactly 0.1 to get in anyway so now I’m feeling kinda shitty…I have a backup plan but it still kinda sucks

in much more fun news eurovision is in a month and having all of the songs to listen to I have to say thats its a pretty decent year overall but I don’t think there’s one song that really stands out across the board for both juries and televoters….I think finland is gonna be the televoters favourite and sweden is gonna sweep the jury vote (they love sweden anyway and they adore loreen) but I still think france could do really well with both but we’ll see. #6 Kristy’s Big Day: Chapter 2

Ann Martin really knows nothing about planning weddings.

Here's where our typical BSC spin on things starts up. So on Saturday, they picked a date for the wedding, Kristy's going to be a bridesmaid, and the icing on the cake is Elizabeth told Kristy she could wear heels with her dress. Yay! But then, on Wednesday, things fall apart. Uh oh! Does Watson the Millionaire miss all the kinky shit and want to get back with Lisa?

Kristy comes home from school to find Elizabeth there. She glumly tells Kristy that her company (one of the many ad agencies that BSC parents work for) wants to send her on a business trip to Europe. Kristy immediately starts begging for Elizabeth to take her along and Elizabeth says she'd love to but can't, as it's during the school year. Patience, Kristy. Your time will come.

And no, Elizabeth isn't leaving right away. She's leaving come September, you know, when Kristy starts 8th grade for the first of 68 times. And she’s supposed to be in Vienna on the day she was planning on getting married. Well, Watson's a millionaire. Bring the whole family to Vienna and do a destination wedding! Only, since this is the BSC, they'd have to invite the entire club.

Kristy tells her to just push the wedding back a month and Elizabeth said she was planning on doing that, until she got a phone call at work. It was her realtor, who's already found a buyer for their house, two days after it was put on the market. Um, what? That seems really, really fast. Then again, the house is in a primo location. You're right in one of the hottest BSC neighborhoods! Childcare for next to nothing! Yes, the BSC affects the housing market in Stoneybrook.

Great news, right? Well, not really. The family (we later learn it’s the infamous Perfect Perkinses) is in a rush and willing to pay the asking price. But Mr. Perkins is in such a rush, he wants to move in by July 15th. That's in about one month. Ok, what the hell. Is it that realistic to close on a house that quickly? With contracts and the bank’s approval and all the inspections and re-inspections? Then again, this is the Perkins family buying it. The purchase will go off without a hitch. Myriah's probably their lawyer.

Kristy, needless to say, is shocked and must agree with me because she tells Elizabeth it'll be impossible to pull off. Well, with the Perkins family, you never know. Those girls are magical. Kristy wants her mom to sell the house to someone else and Elizabeth says no one else is going to offer them as much money as the Perkinses are. “Well, what do we need money for? You're marrying Watson,” is Kristy's response. Geez, first Watson the Millionaire is a jerk, now he's a Sugar Daddy? And no, not this Sugar Daddy.

Elizabeth explains to Kristy that she doesn't want Watson the Millionaire to feel obligated to have to pay for things like her children's college tuition. So the money (or half of it, since half belongs to her deadbeat ex Patrick) is going towards college. What does this have to do with the wedding? Elizabeth and Watson the Millionaire are getting married at the end of June and the Thomases are moving into the MANSION two weeks after that.

Holy shit. Planning a wedding in TWO WEEKS?! I mean, if they were going for a little thing like Sharon and Richard later do, maybe. But they're obviously not. How will they get vendors and stuff on such short notice? Are they going to get the neighbors to bring flowers? Because only Ramona Quimby's aunt could get away with that.

And why must the wedding be now? Why can't they just move into the MANSION and have the wedding in October and not spend two weeks freaking out about everything? If they have issues about living together before the wedding, live in separate wings. Lord knows the MANSION's big enough, if Kristy's talking about her brothers getting suites of rooms if they ask nicely. Just stay away from the third floor so Karen doesn't go nuts. Or if they have to get married now, have a small ceremony at city hall and go for a big ceremony and reception after Elizabeth comes back from Europe. Why am I so perplexed over a BSC book?

David Michael comes home from school as Elizabeth gets a phone call from a friend of hers and tells her friend that the wedding will be in two and a half weeks. As soon as Elizabeth hangs up, she freaks the fuck out when she realizes what she's gotten herself into. David Michael, fascinated and at the same time terrified, holds Kristy's hand and watches their mom go nuts over what to do about flowers, dresses (she says they need to find a dressmaker...wouldn't buying off-the-rack and having it altered be easier?), food. I guess invitations are out the window because she says she'll have to tell relatives about it.

“Planning a wedding is like having a baby. You need time to prePARE things!” Uh, Elizabeth, you just realized this now? Oh and their guest list is around 300 people. Planning a wedding for 300 people in two and a half weeks. Is Elizabeth INSANE?!

Finding some grasp on reality, Elizabeth admits that they'll never be able to book a reception hall, so the mansion’s yard will be the venue. While she freaks out over decorations and what to do if it rains, Kristy suggests she call Watson the Millionaire, while Elizabeth tells herself she'll call Watson the Millionaire. She disappears into her bedroom (ooooooooooooooooh) and comes back later, looking somewhat saner. But it doesn't last long because she opens up a kitchen cabinet and starts sorting pots and pans out. Oh my...planning a wedding AND packing up a whole house to move at the same time.

David Michael launches into one of his talents, whining, and Kristy joins in too. I always liked Kristy's line about David Michael is a champion whiner because he can turn one-syllable words into multi-syllabic words. Well both kids don't want to...oh wait. Let me rephrase. They don't wanna move. They wanna stay he-ere.

Elizabeth shoots them a Look (now we see where Kristy gets it from) and David Michael gives her a quick apology before running out of the kitchen with Louie. Kristy, being as stubborn as she is, argues with her mom about how she promised they wouldn't move until the fall. Uh, Kristy, she never promised anything. She just said the wedding would be in September and wasn't expecting these two bombs to drop on them. Kristy says she doesn't want to spend this summer at Watson's and Elizabeth points out she'll be spending the next summer at Watson's. And the one after that and the one after that. And guess what...you'll be 13 throughout all of them, Kristy!

But Kristy wants one last summer on Bradford Court with the BSC and Mary Anne (that's the same thing!) and...Jamie Newton (um, ok) and the Pikes (except Mallory...and don't the Pikes live on Slate Street?). Elizabeth apologizes but tells her this is how things have to be now. Upset, Kristy storms upstairs to her room. Might I add, bonus points to Ann Martin for actually having Kristy act like a 13-year-old here and not some strange tween/adult hybrid.

Up in her room, Kristy stares out the window that looks into Mary Anne's bedroom. She isn't there, she's out babysitting Jenny Prezzioso (because no one else in the BSC will...bitches) and Kristy's glad for that so she can just think things over. You know if she told Mary Anne the news she just got, she'd cry so much her room would fill up with tears and overflow into Kristy's, like when Pearl cries on Spongebob.

Kristy waxes nostalgic on the good and bad that happened at those windows. Their infamous flashlight code they had to develop because Richard wouldn't let Mary Anne use the phone (now he lets her talk on the phone like a normal person, according to Kristy), giving each other the silent treatment by pulling the shade down, sailing paper airplane messages back and forth. While she thinks about picking out a similar room at the mansion and decorating it the same way as her current room, Elizabeth calls her down to help her with planning this extravagant wedding in two and a half weeks. She wants her to write down the names she calls out from their address book. Kristy also notices the pots and pans have been put away. Packing's waiting until later.

Well what do you know...most of the guests are from out of state and a lot of them have kids. Hello foreshadowing! And hey, you guys. Kristy says weddings are hard to plan! Thank you for stating the obvious, Kristy.

some thoughts on class and privilege after discussing these things at college and seriously dating someone who is of a significantly lower socioeconomic status than i am (under the cut bc it got really really long)

class is SO relative. you really can’t 100% realize your place unless you befriended every single person in the world and saw how many people are actually not coming from your background

like i’ve been in a lot of groups where i was the Rich one but i’ve also been in a few communities where i was the Broke one so i think it’s always gonna be hard to really understand where you are on the ladder. i recently learned that the middle class is a lot smaller of a class in america than we think because SO MANY people call themselves middle class

if we say like, the top 15 or 20 percent is upper class then i’m definitely upper class. but i feel like i was under the impression for much of my childhood and adolescence that you have to be a multimillionaire to be upper class. i think it’s more like you have to be comfortable and then some. 

my family boards a fucking horse which honestly is enough to be like yeah i’m upper class. we don’t need that at all

i thought about it a lot in recent weeks bc my boyfriend visits my dorm about 3 or 4 times a week, he drives south about 40 minutes in a real shitty hand-me-down car and has to pay for gas cause i don’t have a car yet (i say Yet because it’s not like we can’t afford a third car we just haven’t gotten one and one of the points i’m trying to make while writing this is that we can afford shit like that) and he’s here so often he keeps a t-shirt and shorts here cause if his clothes get gross at school he dont have time to change before he comes over

he goes to his local community college on fafsa loans in a very conservative county and i pay 58k a year in tuition at an acclaimed private four year liberal arts college. 

even the kids here are wildly different in privilege. we did an activity in a class where we basically all started on a line and then stepped forward or backwards in response to questions like “if you have ever been discriminated against by peers because of a marginalized identity, step back” that kind of thing, and i did (along with a few other kids) make it so i was up against the far wall, because even at this affluent college i am still extremely privileged

a mixture of merit scholarships and family money means i will graduate with no debt or very very little. which is crazy. my boyfriend is at a much cheaper school but he’s going to be in debt because of loans

but its not even just that huge thing?? i mean college is a huge expense and priced like a luxury and it totally divides people but its also like the littlest things???? he stayed over at my parents house this weekend with me for the ren fest and when i told him i’d let him use a new toothbrush and keep it there in case he came back cause we had plenty of extras he laughed and was like “are you serious??? that would be a cardinal sin in my house” like he was gonna not brush his teeth cz it would be a waste of a toothbrush you might need later. my mom gave us a hundred dollars in spending money for the festival and i got him some nice earrings and he was just like “you are so fucking rich” and i seriously had not thought about it that much up until that point cause its like. normal for me??? but its not normal

you can make anything normal if you grow up like that of course and ya just dont realize it until later

and i decided to write this cause he was talking to me about his friends and i noticed that a bunch of them were joining the military. normally i would like totally red-flag that and sirens would be going off like yikes are they gun nuts or something but i thought about it and realized that it’s probably just the affordable option

and i guess,,, the us military really does swoop in on underprivileged students who can’t pay for college. especially in a conservative county

its also weird to be in a relationship where money is uneven. theres such a weird power dynamic with money

i had been buying him shit all weekend, my mom gave him her gas card and $20 for running an errand, i got him some really nice sunglasses for the drive home, paid for some of his food, got the earrings, helped him pay for a literal actual fucking sword lmao, and then we’re like discussing this viking outfit he wants to do next year and he wanted to use contact lenses to be “blind” in one eye and we found some and i offered to buy them and then he told me very earnestly he wanted me to stop spoiling him

like i really wanted to treat him cz he does a lot and doesnt have much spending money but when he said that i did realize that when one person is spending all the money it can make the other person feel,,, weird, like maybe a little guilty and possibly embarrassed

When I was growing up, I had one dream.  I just wanted to get a full scholarship playing sports.  The weird thing I learned, after My NCAA years were over, was I didn't know what else to Dream for.  Looking back 20 years later, I have put together some steps from all of the material and training I've been thru, and want to share these steps of how you can move toward your dream.

My biggest downfall, although I had 2 Conference Championship rings, broke several school records, including the highest scoring records, I didn't achieve my Dream and felt like I Lost My Dream.  I only got my books and tuition paid for..l. when I really just wanted to earn a full scholarship... As crazy as it sounds, I was crushed, defeated, and at a low point in my Life.  After all, who teaches to take your dreams from your childhood years, and chase them into your adult years?  I didn't know any better.  When I failed to reach my dream of a college athlete with a full ride, I really didn't know what I really was passionate about with school. I wanted to be an engineer.  The school I played football at didn't have engineering, and after going from pre-engineering, to business, to computers, to physics, I finally ended on focusing on a Chemistry Degree.  I was told that I could be very versatile as a Plant manager with that degree. I didn't know any better.  I was young and didn’t have an inner circles to follow. 20 years later a lot of experience and training with John Maxwell and Jack Canfield taught me a thing or 2 about dreams...

 How to move  yourself toward your dream.

 I know that a lot of people don’t have dreams, and others have no idea how to reach them. So, if you fit into one of those groups, I think you’ll enjoy this. Everyone has baggage in their history.  Don't ever think that you are the only one that has gone thru troubles.  I've been around some of the most accomplished people in the world, and they all have stories and experiences that they would rather not talk about. True power lies within going thru difficult times and turning them into a positive.  The same is also said about forgiveness.  The sooner you learn to change your perspective about past events, and find the positive in everything, the sooner you will become more powerful and fearless about bigger and better things.

This is like an oxymoron to me,, but many people think it's ok to be average.  I don't think I've ever had the luxury of thinking it is ok to be average so, this may be a little hard for me to relate. So, I'll go this direction.

Your Parents, Your kids, Your husband or Wife, Deserve the Best Version of you.  Don't cut corners.  Don't settle for average.  They deserve the best version of you. I have to quote that saying about God's Gift to you, is Your Unused potential.  Your Gift to God is what YOU Do with that potential. Like my Dad used to tell me.  Be the Best you can be at everything you do, Or Don't Waste your time trying... This will move you Rapidly towards at least getting good at different things and you should find your passions, and your dream...

    Take Small Steps and Build Your Confidence

When I got certified to be a John Maxwell Coach, he told us that Practice doesn't make perfect. 

Practice makes permanent.  I didn't really understand what he meant by that back when I heard it.  The older and wiser I grew, I realized that he meant that there are a lot of people practicing things the wrong way, and that didn't cause people to become perfect. I have done a lot of things in my life, and one thing I have learned is that it takes many small steps of doing things to build confidence.  If you don't have confidence in the thing that you are doing, how can you be chasing your dream?  If you don't have confidence, then take small steps, until you build up your confidence.    

Spend Time Daily Visualizing Your Dream

It took me a long long time to really learn this principle in the business world, but I was doing this all thru childhood with sports.  It is amazing how when you visualize how you are going to do something it just seems like it becomes easier.  I know when I was younger doing construction work, I would usually think of the work I had to get done the next day.  I would even visualize how I would unload and load up my truck.  How I would set up my work stations. If you stand on a construction site long enough, you will see patterns that the best crews work with, every day.

The hard part is this. You can't visualize something if you have no idea what it is.  Do it the old fashion way... IF you don't know your dream, brain storm on a piece of paper.  Just get that pen moving and write out things you would love to do if you knew you couldn't fail .. Things that bring you joy. I know Jack Canfield taught some great visualization exercises in his workshops.  I can't tell you how much it helps to visualize what you have to do before you do it.  Sometimes you will figure the problems out in your head, before they happen, and things will move a lot more smoothly.  Take my word for it.. Try and and see the rewards it brings..

Don't Get Caught Up On Things Outside of Your Control

This is a tricky one, so let me clarify.  Most of the things that you rely on daily, you really don't have control over.  You count on your car working, the people that work for your, the weather, the market, and on and on.  There are a lot of things that you Count on, but you really don't have a lot of control over.  It's not that you shouldn't Worry about things.  Sometimes worrying is just natural, but you have to stop it in its tracks... It's how you accept responsibility when things don't go your way.  Just remember this. This is a simple activity and this will give you the feeling inside of achieving your dreams, and you can visualize them as you write them out.

Now, don't get me wrong, I said this to make you realize, ANYONE can do this part.  IF you want your dream bad enough, if you can't get to a meeting or write a blog or can’t make big time progress,, at least write your dream out every day on paper and visualize.  To many books and legends believe in this, and if you are one of those people that thinks visualizing and meditations don’t work, what’s the point of dreaming then??? I promise you, when you are doing this little exercise, you will magically get ideas that you can put into action to propel your dream forward.  If you haven’t read think and grow rich, This will change your mind on this principle. The main thing is staying active, and keep that passion alive!  This is the easiest and most important step of moving your toward your dream.

Be Willing and Able to Pay The Price

Don't be Naive when it comes to your dream.  Plan it out and know the costs.  Remember this, Things always will take longer and cost more than you think.  That is just life.  We always underestimate when it comes to costs and time, so be reasonable with your self.  The main thing is make progress every day.  Always be taking steps or even crawling forward.  Slow and steady wins the race. The important take away is to just know that you are willing and able to pay the price.  The price to achieve greatness will always be different for different people. Also know this.  The further up you go, The greater the cost.  The more you will have to sacrifice.  I didn't realize this when I was younger.  I sacrificed a lot in my younger years.  My Freedom, My Time, My Family. In modern America, a faint echo of that idea -- call it jubilee-lite -- is catching on.Support for write-offs has been driven by Democratic presidential candidates. Elizabeth Warren says she’d cancel most of the $1.6 trillion in U.S. student loans. Bernie Sanders would go further -– erasing the whole lot, as well as $81 billion in medical debt.But it’s coming from other directions too. In October, one of the Trump administration’s senior student-loan officials resigned, calling for wholesale write-offs and describing the American way of paying for higher education as “nuts.’’Real-estate firm Zillow cites medical and college liabilities as major hurdles for would-be renters and home buyers. Moody’s Investors Service listed the headwinds from student debt -– less consumption and investment, more inequality -- and said forgiveness would boost the economy like a tax cut.While the current debate centers on college costs, long-run numbers show how debt has spread through the economy. The U.S. relies on consumer spending for growth -– but it hasn’t been delivering significantly higher wages. Household borrowing has filled the gap, with low interest rates making it affordable.And that’s not unique to America. Steadily growing debts of one kind or another are weighing on economies all over the world.The idea that debt can grow faster than the ability to repay, until it unbalances a society, was well understood thousands of years ago, according to Michael Hudson, an economist and historian. Last year Hudson published “And Forgive Them Their Debts,’’ a study of the ancient Near East where the tradition known as a “jubilee” -- wiping the debt-slate clean -- has its roots. He describes how the practice spread through civilizations including Sumer and Babylon, and came to play an important role in the Bible and Jewish law.Rulers weren’t motivated by charity, Hudson says. They were being pragmatic -- trying to make sure that citizens could meet their own needs and contribute to public projects, instead of just laboring to pay creditors. 10 Steps to Move Toward Your Dream Now

When I was growing up, I had one dream.  I just wanted to get a full scholarship playing sports.  The weird thing I learned, after My NCAA years were over, was I didn't know what else to Dream for.  Looking back 20 years later, I have put together some steps from all of the material and training I've been thru, and want to share these steps of how you can move toward your dream. My biggest downfall, although I had 2 Conference Championship rings, broke several school records, including the highest scoring records, I didn't achieve my Dream and felt like I Lost My Dream.  I only got my books and tuition paid for.. As crazy as it sounds, I was crushed, defeated, and at a low point in my Life.  After all, who teaches to take your dreams from your childhood years, and chase them into your adult years? I didn't know any better.  When I failed to reach my dream of a college athlete with a full ride, I really didn't know what I really was passionate about with school. I wanted to be an engineer.  The school I played football at didn't have engineering, and after going from pre-engineering, to business, to computers, to physics, I finally ended on focusing on a Chemistry Degree.  I was told that I could be very versatile as a Plant manager with that degree. I didn't know any better.  I was young and didn’t have an inner circles to follow. 20 years later a lot of experience and trading with John Maxwell and Jack Canfield taught me a thing or 2 about dreams... Today, I want to discuss how to move  yourself toward your dream.  I know that a lot of people don’t have dreams, and others have no idea how to reach them. So, if you fit into one of those groups, I think you’ll enjoy this. I want to list out some big things to focus on to move you closer to achieving your dream.  Remember this.  All Great Leaders have a Big Dream, and Loyal Team of people that are as passionate about The Dream about the leaders was about the dream.

Hang Around People that Encourage You and Your Dream.

This is easy for the extroverts out there.  If your an introvert like me, just get over yourself.  One thing I try and do is focus on getting in groups of people that are chasing the same dream.  It has never been as easy as it is today to find a meetup group or a FB group of people that will connect with and they will eventually cheer you on.  Just make sure you add value and try and help others and don't do nice things for people to do them back.  Be genuinely interested in helping others, and sooner or later you will get the same in return.

Let Go of the Past, Fast!

Everyone has baggage in their history.  Don't ever think that you are the only one that has gone thru troubles.  I've been around some of the most accomplished people in the world, and they all have stories and experiences that they would rather not talk about. True power lies within going thru difficult times and turning them into a positive.  The same is also said about forgiveness.  The sooner you learn to change your perspective about past events, and find the positive in everything, the sooner you will become more powerful and fearless about bigger and better things.

Never Ever Settle for Average

This is like an oxymoron to me,, but many people think it's ok to be average.  I don't think I've ever had the luxury of thinking it is ok to be average so, this may be a little hard for me to relate. So, I'll go this direction.

Your Parents, Your kids, Your husband or Wife, Deserve the Best Version of you.  Don't cut corners.  Don't settle for average.  They deserve the best version of you. I have to quote that saying about God's Gift to you, is Your Unused potential.  Your Gift to God is what YOU Do with that potential. Like my Dad used to tell me.  Be the Best you can be at everything you do, Or Don't Waste your time trying... This will move you Rapidly towards your Dream

Take Small Steps and Build Your Confidence

When I got certified to be a John Maxwell Coach, he told us that Practice doesn't make perfect.  Practice makes permanent.  I didn't really understand what he meant by that back when I heard it.  The older and wiser I grew, I realized that he meant that there are a lot of people practicing things the wrong way, and that didn't cause people to become perfect. I have done a lot of things in my life, and one thing I have learned is that it takes many small steps of doing things to build confidence.  It's like the old saying goes,

Spend Time Daily Visualizing Your Dream

It took me a long long time to really learn this principle in the business world, but I was doing this all thru childhood with sports.  It is amazing how when you visualize how you are going to do something it just seems like it becomes easier.  I know when I was younger doing construction work, I would usually think of the work I had to get done the next day.  I would even visualize how I would unload and load up my truck.  How I would set up my work stations. If you stand on a construction site long enough, you will see patterns that the best crews work with, every day.

The hard part is this. You can't visualize something if you have no idea what it is.  Do it the old fashion way... IF you don't know your dream, brain storm on a piece of paper.  Just get that pen moving and write out things you would love to do if you knew you couldn't fail .. Things that bring you joy.

Don't Get Caught Up On Things Outside of Your Control

This is a tricky one, so let me clarify.  Most of the things that you rely on daily, you really don't have control over.  You count on your car working, the people that work for your, the weather, the market, and on and on.  There are a lot of things that you Count on, but you really don't have a lot of control over.  It's not that you shouldn't do this.  It's how you accept responsibility when things don't go your way.  Just remember this. One of the fastest ways to see people go crazy is to watch them try and control something they have no control over.  They go nuts!  Some times you have to do the best you can, and when bad things happen, Focus on the things you can control, starting with your Response.

Stay Active Doing Things That Keep You Passionate About Your Dreams

The universe rewards action.  So stay busy. Don't accept any excuses from anyone and Definitely not from yourself. One of the best things or habits you can get into is writing your dream down on a piece of paper every morning and every night. This is a simple activity and this will give you the feeling inside of achieving your dreams, and you can visualize them as you write them out.

Now, don't get me wrong, I said this to make you realize, ANYONE can do this part.  IF you want your dream bad enough, if you can't get to a meeting or write a blog or can’t make big time progress,, at least write your dream out every day on paper and visualize.  To many books and legends believe in this, and if you are one of those people that thinks visualizing and meditations don’t work, what’s the point of dreaming then??? I promise you, when you are doing this little exercise, you will magically get ideas that you can put into action to propel your dream forward.  If you haven’t read think and grow rich, This will change your mind on this principle. The main thing is staying active, and keep that passion alive!  This is the easiest and most important step of moving your toward your dream.

Be Willing and Able to Pay The Price

Don't be Naive when it comes to your dream.  Plan it out and know the costs.  Remember this, Things always will take longer and cost more than you think.  That is just life.  We always underestimate when it comes to costs and time, so be reasonable with your self.  The main thing is make progress every day.  Always be taking steps or even crawling forward.  Slow and stead wins the race. The important take away is to just know that you are willing and able to pay the price.  The price to achieve greatness will always be different for different people. Also know this.  The further up you go, The greater the cost.  The more you will have to sacrifice.  I didn't realize this when I was younger.  I sacrificed a lot in my younger years.  My Freedom, My Time, My Family. Know The Costs and Be Willing and Able to Pay it, Or Suffer the Consequences.

Make Sure Your Dream Will Benefit Others

This goes without saying, if your dream is a selfish dream, then you will have an uphill battle.  There are plenty of people that fall into this trap, and they achieve their dreams, only to find out it was a Pyrrhic victory.

They lose they family, friends, Homes, Businesses or other things that are important to them.  Don't fall into this trap, make sure that others will benefit from your dream, and you will have a team of loyal friends and family helping you on the journey and you will have energy and purpose in achieving your dream. In the end, it's all for nothing if you can't celebrate your victory with your Tribe. Always keep moving toward your dream. Steadily growing debts of one kind or another are weighing on economies all over the world.The idea that debt can grow faster than the ability to repay, until it unbalances a society, was well understood thousands of years ago, according to Michael Hudson, an economist and historian. Last year Hudson published “And Forgive Them Their Debts,’’ a study of the ancient Near East where the tradition known as a “jubilee” -- wiping the debt-slate clean -- has its roots. He describes how the practice spread through civilizations including Sumer and Babylon, and came to play an important role in the Bible and Jewish law.Rulers weren’t motivated by charity, Hudson says. They were being pragmatic -- trying to make sure that citizens could meet their own needs and contribute to public projects, instead of just laboring to pay creditors. And it worked, he says. “Societies that canceled the debts enjoyed stable growth for thousands of years.’’Forgiveness was good for the economy, would be a modern way of putting it. In an October paper, Moody’s examined how that might apply if America writes off its student debts.Moral Hazard?There would likely be a “modest increase’’ in household spending and investment, and eventually higher rates of home-ownership and business-formation, it said. Buying up student loans would increase the government’s own debt -- but “only marginally,” since it already owns three-quarters of them. After that one-time hit, budget deficits each year would be slightly bigger because of the lost revenue from loan repayments, equal to 0.4% of GDP in 2018.Critics usually raise two key problems with debt forgiveness. One is about fairness. The other is known as “moral hazard’’: Will write-offs today lead to more reckless borrowing tomorrow?These questions “need to be carefully thought through” for student loans, says William Foster, a senior credit officer at Moody’s and the report’s lead author. “Who would benefit, who would miss out, what attempts at equal treatment there should be.’’ Any plan would also have to address “what the situation would be for the next generation of students with regard to accumulating debt,’’ he says.Sanders and Warren plan to remove moral hazard by making state college tuition-free. But they’ve caught flak on the fairness question.‘Bigger Debate’A study by the Urban Institute said that wealthier households hold more student loans –- so writing them off would be regressive. Pete Buttigieg, another Democratic presidential contender, wants to direct financial support toward poorer students, saying there’s no reason to subsidize richer ones.Economies can skew against age cohorts, as well as income groups. Foster says the idea of debt relief plays into “the bigger debate about prospects for young Americans today: Job opportunities, the cost of education, income levels and slower wage gains since the financial crisis.’’The last Democratic administration also got in a fight over debt forgiveness.Under President Barack Obama, the government took steps to help underwater homeowners. Warren, then a Harvard professor who specialized in household finance, attacked it for punishing struggling families.Konczal says that bill reflected a widespread idea that over-borrowing was a result of extravagant “lifestyle problems.’’ In reality, he says, “middle-class families were in a much more precarious situation than was realized’’ -- and relying on debt for the basics.Can’t Pay, Won’t PayForgiveness isn’t the only big idea out there for reducing the economy’s reliance on private debt. Another one is to pay for things like homes or education with instruments that look a bit more like equity, and less like debt.Mian and Sufi suggested a type of mortgage in which the lender shares risks if prices fall, and rewards when they rise. Some lawmakers, educators and investors are applying a similar model to college financing too.Mitch Daniels, head of Purdue University and a former Republican governor of Indiana, is one of the champions of Income Share Agreements. They work like this: investors fund students, and get repaid -– hopefully with a return on their equity –- when graduates start earning the higher wages that a degree should bring.Hudson, the historian, also says equity-financing is better. But he thinks the government should play a role. In a 2018 paper with Charles Goodhart of the London School of Economics, he proposed public-equity funds to help first-time home buyers, students and small businesses. By edging out debt-financing, the authors argued, it could be a modern version of the ancient jubilees.“The fact is, debt causes instability for a society,’’ Hudson says. Another lesson he’s drawn from studying credit over thousands of years: “Debts that can’t be paid, won’t be paid.’’(Michael Bloomberg is also seeking the Democratic nomination.
