The Bachelor's Pharmacy
I made a list of all of the metabolism-affecting consumables I could find in the Quarantine game files. @humancork was asking to see this, but I'll put it in the tag in case anyone else wants to see.
Stimulants (Increase Mania/Decrease Apathy):
Camphor Stimulant, a rubefacient. Causes irritation, just like everything in this damned place.
Coffee Coffee is imported from overseas, so I must conserve my supply. Besides, the delivery of goods to the town is delayed, so the price of coffee can be outrageous. Addictive, with each use, the effect becomes weaker.
Adrenaline (Called "Stimpack" in game files) A hormone produced in the adrenal glands as a response to stress. When administered, it activates the body's fight or flight response. In my case, it increases running speed.
Strychnine A poison. Which is the same as medicine. Invigorating in small doses. Addictive. With each use, the effect becomes weaker.
Concentrated strychnine The word repulsive doesn't even begin to describe its taste, especially in such a dosage, but it clears your mind like nothing else. You can't become addicted to it, even if you want to.
Tobacco It is believed that cigarettes have a calming effect, but in fact nicotine is a stimulant. Addictive. With each use, the effect becomes weaker.
Taurine Taurine is extracted from ox bile—perfectly fitting for a town built on bulls. It stimulates the nervous system and supports energy processes in the body.
Depressants (Increase Apathy/Decrease Mania):
Bromide Increases inhibition in the cerebral cortex. In other words, dulls the brain. Sometimes that's exactly what I need.
Etorphine A powerful analgesic. An overdose can lead to sudden feebleness or even death.
Morphine Relieves any pain, both physical and mental. In return, it asks only for your sharpness of thought. Many people take that deal. Addictive. With each use, the effect becomes weaker.
Refined morphine Strong, robust. Each time it hits you like the first one. However, it's very rare. Use with caution to avoid overdose.
Valerian extract Sedative. Sometimes even Bachelor Dankovsky drinks valerian extract, just like his grandmother used to. [Alt: Sedative. Can't go wrong with valerian.]
Other:
Dankovsky's special (Called "BachelorBrew" in game files, lol) A remedy I made myself. When administered, it allows the body to postpone any current pain and spread it out over time for approximately [Y] seconds. Unlike morphine, this drug doesn’t inhibit the psyche or cause apathy.
Makeshift tonic pill (Called "Craft_Pill_Apat" in game files) Partially mitigates the negative effects of apathy. Effectiveness unknown.
Makeshift stress relief pill (Called "Craft_Pill_Psycho" in game files) Partially mitigates the negative effects of stress. Effectiveness unknown.
Twyrine (Called "Tvirin" in game files, no description)
Swevery extract Serves as a natural tonic. It would be good to cultivate the local herbs...
White Whip toxin The White Whip an endemic species of the Gorhon Steppes. Contains a poison that, in its pure form, is lethal. There have been known cases of murders involving its use.

Meet my tf oc Rodger!
He's a full time weirdo. He's completely obsessed with humanity and anything that's remotely related to them. The only reason he's even a decepticon in the first place is because the autobots have a rule against interacting with human civilians. Rodger has even modified himself to have something resembling human hair and ears. He also likes wearing human-like clothes.
Nobody knows what the fuck is wrong with him and why he's so obsessed with these organics. Most think it's severe SEVERE cortex damage. Outside of his weird interest though he's a pretty chill guy.
His alt mode is also an electric train.

MEMORANDUM TO SINYALA STAFF CLASSIFICATION GUIDELINES: JAEGER
ARCHETYPE Relentless hunter, inexorable death. The Jaeger is assigned a target Reagent, and will steadily track that Reagent until dead.
HISTORY A twice-repurposed Reagent, Henrietta Grubbs was originally interred at the Sinyala Facility as a patient of LATHE 2 therapy. After severe physical trauma and a display of remarkable resilience, Miss Grubbs was given hormonal treatment and osteotomy and re-introduced into the Trials as Heavy Ex-Pop. After demonstrating a lack of susceptibility to the influence of Prime Assets, Miss Grubbs again experienced remarkable physical trauma and, presumed dead, was sent to Biohazard Processing, where she managed to survive for months, even after her food source was cut off. Following the events surrounding the escape of Amelia Collier, Miss Grubbs's survival was discovered, and she was further improved to her current form.
AUGMENTATIONS The Jaeger is fitted with extensive external fixators, screwed into the bone. They offer support, but more importantly restrict the bones from additional growth, a side-effect of hormonal treatment and trauma therapy, (extensive acromegaly is still visible.) The Jaeger has a broadcast receiver installed in her headpiece through which instruction and guidance can be offered, and targets assigned.
PSYCHOLOGY A perfect example of the Sinyala Paradox, the Jaeger seems to be finding some comfort in hopelessness. Her fixation on a single target shows a striking correlation with activity in the Medial Prefrontal Cortex, similar to mPFC activity seen in a person viewing a potential mate. The Jaeger appears to be longing for some unattainable love. DOCTOR'S NOTE Please correct any staff referring to the Jaeger as "Miss Lonely Heart," as it risks contaminating scientific objectivity in observing scientists.

For It's About Time, do you have any theories about the Tawnaverse?
I don't think I necessarily have theories, but moreso observations. Namely regarding the other characters that aren't Alt!Tawna and Alt!N Tropy. There seems to be a lot of shots that the game has with the former and Coco, which makes me think that the Alt!Coco knew her more compared to Crash. Alt!Crash there's not as much you can infer besides him obviously dying in that dimension, and them seemingly not dating going off the pirate level. It's questionable if he was the 'protagonist' of that universe where Tawna stepped in after his demise, or if Tawna was always the one in charge. My hc leans towards the latter going off her guilt regarding their deaths and outright trying to restrain them to prevent it happening again.
One interesting detail that I noticed while going through Artstation before is in regards to her grappling hook. GFactory renders with her posing had me notice that her grappling hook had a lightning logo. This is further confirmed with concept art from the wiki showing the specific device.

The only in-game character with a similar logo is Cortex. However, it's not a one-to-one which made me wonder if it was a coincidence. The concept art for said gun though makes it look more similar, so I think it was intentional. As to whether that means she had an alliance with Alt!Cortex or simply took it from him, I have no clue. Former makes more sense. Especially as previous games have tinkered with the idea of a "Good" Cortex in another dimension (albeit scrapped ideas).

With both scientists existing in the alt one, that would also mean characters like N Brio and N Gin also exist there. But I don't know if they would still be working under Cortex or not from lack of information.

One of the major complaints about Catbat and Alt Tawna now is how their backstories are too angsty and dark for a Crash Bandicoot game and all Crash games should be silly and goofy and fun.
Y'all wasn't it one of the major criticisms of the Radical era that things were too goofy and immature and trying way to hard to be funny?
And isn't one of the main complaints about the N Sane Trilogy is that it became too cartoony thus undercutting the serious moments of the original trilogy?
Anyway, so yeah back to Crash 4 Tawna and Catbat, charecters in Crash have always had really messed up backstories. Nina got her hands cut off by her own uncle, Crash 1 Tawna was litterally created to be a sex slave, N Brio screwed his head bolts in himself to punish him for disobeying cortex, N Gin is litterally on failing life support powered by the nuke in his head, and I can write an entire essay about how fucked up Cortex's backstory is.
The point is Crash has always had Serious moments and themes while also being incredibly goofy and cartoony. Simalar to other franchises like Kirby or Sonic, do these dark moments define a series as a whole? No of course not. But I think they're neat regardless and give the series as a whole more depth.

Facts about Tulip Possum (my Crash Bandicoot sona)
🧪Tulip was given a plan by Cortex to eliminate Crash, though she tends to ignore his plans.
🍉Wasn't a mutated animal like with Cortex's minions. She is a normal, anthropomorphic opossum.
🧪Is friendly to the Bandicoot siblings; Crash, Coco and Crunch. They have a sibling like relationship.
🍉Her goggles have eyes that can express her emotions.
🧪Much like normal opossums, Tulip can hiss at her threats, has a taste for berries and is nocturnal during at night.
🍉She tends to switch sides with the Bandicoots and their enemies, it depends on who she is with the most.
🧪Has a special interest with inventing, science and learning about the natural life.
🍉Does hide her feelings towards her crushes but she gets flustered too easily, during her adventures with the Bandicoots or when she's with the Scientists.
🧪Tulip just likes Cortex for his interests of inventing technology for evil and thinks of him as she calls him 'A short scientist man that looks so silly'.

Warum der Arduino trotz ESP32 & Co. nicht ausgedient hat

„Arduino? Das nutzt doch heute keiner mehr…“ Wer sich in den letzten Jahren mit Mikrocontrollern beschäftigt hat, stolpert überall über den ESP32. Dual-Core, WLAN, Bluetooth, 240 MHz, massig Speicher – und das alles für ein paar Euro. Kein Wunder also, dass der gute alte Arduino UNO im Schatten der neuen Mikrocontroller-Generation zu stehen scheint. Die Kommentare in Foren und Social Media klingen dann auch oft so: „Warum noch einen Arduino benutzen, wenn es doch den ESP32 gibt?“ Aber ist das wirklich so? Hat der Arduino tatsächlich ausgedient? Oder gibt es gute Gründe, auch heute noch auf den betagten Klassiker zu setzen? Und vor allem: Wenn ich gerade erst einsteige – sollte ich dann überhaupt noch mit einem Arduino anfangen, oder direkt auf einen ESP32 setzen? Genau um diese Fragen geht es in diesem Beitrag. Und so viel sei schon mal verraten: Leistung ist nicht immer alles.

Seeeduino Nano Gerade diese Vielfalt an spezialisierten Clones und Abwandlungen ist ein echter Vorteil: Man wählt sich für sein Projekt genau die Features, die man braucht – und spart sich den Ballast von Funktionen, die gar nicht benötigt werden. ➡️ Keine WLAN-Probleme, wenn das Projekt gar kein WLAN braucht. ➡️ Keine Bluetooth-Komplexität, wenn ein simples Relais geschaltet werden soll. ➡️ Aber: Wenn ein Display gewünscht ist, einfach ein Clone mit integriertem OLED nehmen. Teures Original oder günstiger Clone? Das Original aus Italien unterstützt natürlich die Entwickler, die die Plattform erst möglich gemacht haben. Gerade wenn es um professionelle Projekte, Support oder Weiterentwicklung geht, ist das ein guter Grund, auch mal bewusst zum Original zu greifen. Wer dagegen einfach ein kleines Hobby-Projekt umsetzt oder ein günstiges Board für Lernzwecke sucht, wird vermutlich bei einem Clone aus Fernost landen – und das ist auch okay so. Beides hat seine Berechtigung. Im nächsten Abschnitt schauen wir uns an, warum diese Einfachheit und Flexibilität dem Arduino einen Platz auf dem Basteltisch gesichert haben – auch wenn ESP32, RP2040 & Co. daneben liegen. Clone statt Frust: Warum gerade Anfänger mit günstigen China-Boards besser fahren Seien wir ehrlich: Wer mit Mikrocontrollern anfängt, wird früher oder später mal einen Fehler machen. Ein Kabel verpolt, einen Pin aus Versehen kurzgeschlossen, eine Lötstelle zu heiß… ➡️ Passiert. Gehört zum Lernen einfach dazu. Wenn dann das teure Original-Board abraucht, ist der Frust groß – und das Projekt vielleicht erst mal gestorben. Anders sieht es aus, wenn das eingesetzte Board nur 2–3 € gekostet hat. Dann bestellt man sich einfach ein neues und weiter geht’s. Genau deshalb finde ich: ➡️ Gerade Anfänger sind mit einem günstigen Clone gut beraten. Das senkt die Hemmschwelle, etwas auszuprobieren, und macht es viel leichter, aus Fehlern zu lernen. Ob Arduino Nano Clone, Pro Mini oder einer der vielen China-Nachbauten mit Zusatzfeatures wie OLED oder Funk – hier kann man für kleines Geld experimentieren, lernen und Spaß haben. Und wenn das Projekt später stabil läuft und vielleicht sogar „ernsthaft“ eingesetzt werden soll, kann man immer noch überlegen, ob man auf ein höherwertiges Original umsteigt.
Wann ESP32, wann Arduino? – Entscheidungshilfe für Projekte
Natürlich ist es immer verlockend, einfach zum leistungsstärksten Mikrocontroller zu greifen. Aber genau das ist oft gar nicht nötig – und manchmal sogar umständlicher. Denn: Der beste Mikrocontroller ist der, der genau das kann, was dein Projekt braucht – nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Fazit: Alt, aber alles andere als nutzlos!
Ja, der ESP32 ist ein echtes Powerpaket. Ja, der Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040) mischt kräftig mit und hat auch seinen Platz auf dem Basteltisch. Und ja – es gibt mittlerweile zig Alternativen mit WLAN, Bluetooth, Kamera, HID und noch viel mehr. Aber: Gerade das macht den guten alten Arduino so sympathisch: Er will gar nicht alles können – sondern einfach das, was man für viele kleine bis mittlere Projekte wirklich braucht. Ein Relais schalten? Ein paar LEDs blinken lassen? Einen Sensor auslesen und auf dem Display anzeigen? ➡️ Warum dafür einen Dual-Core mit WLAN bemühen, wenn es ein Nano für 3 € auch tut? Und genau das ist der Punkt: 🔹 Der Arduino ist einfach. 🔹 Er ist stabil. 🔹 Er hat eine riesige Community und viele erprobte Bibliotheken. 🔹 Er eignet sich perfekt zum Lernen – und bleibt auch danach oft die pragmatische Wahl. Gerade Anfänger profitieren enorm davon, sich nicht direkt mit komplexen Themen wie WiFi-Stack, Sleep-Modes oder USB-Treiberherausforderungen herumschlagen zu müssen. Und: Auch fortgeschrittene Bastler greifen gerne zum „alten Bekannten“, wenn es mal schnell, unkompliziert und robust sein soll. Mein Fazit: Der Arduino hat seinen festen Platz – auch im Jahr 2025. Nicht überall, aber da, wo „Keep it simple“ gefragt ist, ist er oft genau die richtige Wahl. ➡️ ESP32, RP2040 & Co. sind keine Gegner – sie sind Mitspieler im Team der Mikrocontroller.
