Alter!Keith:

It was Keith who invited you to join as you walked by him conversating with some officials, claiming that they were moments away from wrapping it up. You politely took the seat next to your partner on the sofa, smiling and nodding here and there as you mentally counted down the minutes and the seconds before the two of you could be left to yourselves... because your mind suddenly got plagued with certain thoughts, each one more unfit for this meeting than the other.

Your eyes now linger on Keith's lips as they move, but your gaze sharpens as you remember to look for the signs.

He's perhaps confident about masking it, but you're easily the only one who can tell the difference by the most subtle things; the tiniest note change in his voice or the way he carries himself; the mere air around him. It only puts ideas in your head.

Before you know it, goodbyes are exchanged so you hurry to snap out of the trance and offer yours as well. The sound of footsteps still echoes in the distance when you scoot over close enough to make your knee rub against Keith's. He looks at you. Knowingly. It only gives him away because in the next moment, he plays innocent...

"Ah, did I make you wait for too long? I'm so sorry. We can go to our room now if you want to."

Then you place your hand on his knee, as if preventing him from getting up. His golden eyes follow it.

"Is something the matter?"

And then you lean in closer. Face just a breath away from his, tilting slightly in a familiar motion, a little more and your lashes could tickle his skin. He takes the bait; raises a hand to take control and captures your chin in a flash, thus "revealing himself" in front of you.

...And you don't as much as tremble in his gasp. You unwaveringly hold his gaze as you press forward - finding that there's no real firmness to his grasp, that it all falls apart in bewilderment. He thought he'd catch you by surprise and claim that kiss, but you knew all along - and dared to tease him while knowing.

As you withdraw and leave only your lingering warmth on the seat beside him, Keith can only ghost cold fingers over his unkissed lips with a dark shadow casting over his eyes.
