At Neon Dream, we create structured tools fostering metacognative strategies with the aim of understanding cognitive processes. All forms of metaemotion are built in with the four techniques, experience, knowledge, strategies, and goals/tasks.

The stories and cards highlight emotionally complex circumstances and intense emotions for the individual to practice their cognitive and emotional skills in a playful and structured way. This structure creates an opportunity to reflect on emotions before intense emotions occur within the individual and erupt as behavior problems. We do this with our story scripts and tarot games. Simple tools combining ancient folklore with tarot, art, and astrology.

And it’s fun.

These skills increase confidence in managing the challenges of human life while building empathy and emotional intelligence during the navigation and narrative of the characters in the stories. Tarot, or dream cards, give us opportunities to have conversations about strong emotions while navigating complex situations in a calm and supportive environment. This behavioral method of conscious research creates a positive impact for people to have open conversations about their mental health while practicing emotion regulation and impulse control.

Technique

The clinical definition of our technique is called meta-mood, defined as a reflective process that accompanies mood states where individuals continually reflect upon their feelings, monitoring, evaluating, and regulating them. We go further with Fringe Consciousness, Norman E., Price M. C., Duff S. C. (2010) classifying this technique as a useful framework for clarifying the nature of experience based feelings.

Learning New Skills? Sometimes You Just Get Stuck.

Having completed a few online courses myself, I am certainly a proponent of information sharing and alternative learning. I love that I have the freedom to learn just about anything, but I know that it's not always smooth sailing. If you've ever taken an online class, I'm sure you'll agree. Inevitably an online class brings about questions that weren't answered in the pre-recorded 1-hour video. Perhaps I pushed something to production, but it just didn't work. Or maybe I have a specific question about the SEO strategy I'm working on. Emailing my instructor who may have hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of students will not give me the detailed answer I'm looking for. Posting on the student board will get me an overwhelming amount of responses, and it's hard to tell the true from the false. The easiest and most reliable solution is to ask an expert.
