tserriednich considering theta for marriage is honestly not unrealistic. he'd want someone that's "worthy" of him, that being, someone who knows the right ways to compliment him, and understands his artistic references

and from Theta's very first appearance, listing out & explaining the "taboo words" when talking to Tse, it's clear how well she knows him, and how to appeal to him (although she's too confident in her ability to sway him)

he needs to be the best at everything, & she knows when & how to vocalize her praise. "To be honest, you are truly incredible." "I suppose everyone's like that in the face of genius. But I do value and appreciate you, Theta."

She's his "trump card", which shows a pretty high degree of respect considering who it's coming from!

And as we can tell from the other queens, it's not uncommon that the king would marry someone from lower social classes. It seems there's no status obligation for appearances, probably bc the family is just that powerful. (*note, yall already covered this!)

+ as we learn from Oito, the queen's "purpose" is mainly to raise and protect the heirs. It's a dangerous and exhaustive job. I have no doubt Tse would find Theta capable of the role

plus he's so weird about her. he trusts her wayyy more than he should. And why did he cover for her about the gunshot? What is up his sleeve? "Well, Theta? How was my Zetsu? I didn't even flinch to your gunshot, right?"

His affections for Theta are pretty undeniable by chapter 386. He contradicts himself about what his "type" is, declaring he's had a change in heart & now finds deceitful women "so cute♡" even though that was the thing he hated most in the world... because in truth, he just likes Theta.

RARE THEORY : WHY AND HOW THETA WILL BE THE 9TH QUEEN OF KAKIN

Yo I already talk about this in some comments. But I really wanted to make an official post of that theory here in my blog.

So there is this genius @itsmyara and @hunterexamcheatsheet who talk about the fact that each actual queen of Kakin's name are related to their position in the harem hierarchy :

Then we have Theta, Theta means nine in ancient greek.

And with what we highlight above. We know that Togashi put way to much attention in the queen's name just for accidentally making such a "coincidence".

Furthermore, there is Oito's backstory. Oito WASN'T born to be a queen AT ALL. Her backstory shows to us reader that EVERY WOMEN of every social statues have a chance to be a queen if the king "fall in love" with them. And that includes my baby girl Theta.

Of course only 8 women success to make it, so it's nearly impossible. Plus, "the King falling in love again" is an even rarer possibility because of the context of the succession war. Indeed, why Nasubi would marry a woman when he seems to be ready to die in 2 months. Theta can't even have the time to birth a new prince at this point.

If he marries Theta she would not make any heirs to the throne, so she would be a pretty "useless" queen. That the second biggest reason why it seems impossible for Theta to be Nasubi's wife.

BUT !

Let's go back to the comparison of the meaning of Theta's name and the other queens. All the queen's name are related aproximatovely to numbers but they don't have any meaning by themselves expect from Oito = eight and Seiko which is a famous watch mark in japan.

On the other hand, the word Theta has an HUGE array of meanings. Many recognize the mathematical symbole for naming angles.

But it is above all a letter in its own that has been derived and incorporated into the alphabet of many dead languages :

The Ionic, Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, Etruscan, Gallic, Cyrillic, Slavic, Coptic and Armenian alphabet for examples.

This letter will then take as many different forms depending on the civilizations that use it.

In the end, Theta’s name in comparison to others can be interpreted as adaptability, communication or even impartiality. So even throught Theta doesn't make any child she would be an excellent key of power stabilisation if she is used correctly.

The story already shows us very well how Theta can adapt to a large panel of complex situation. She is also an essential source of information and meticulous analysis.

Nasubi will probably feel for those qualities. Plus, to survive this far, Theta WILL NEED to deploy every weapons she had in order to survive. I am sure that she will indirectly stole some other royal hearts in her tricky way to the mysterious mission success 😁

Season 12 but The Master kept pretending to be O??

So Spyfall is resolved, The Kasaavin are banished back to their realm and the Fam and Doctor are clueless as to the true mastermind, Barton taking the fall while the Master continues to pose ad O, having decided he’s enjoying the game of tricking her too much.

Perhaps among their texts they’ve grown close, or perhaps the brief time together in the outback led to events?? ;) But either way, he changes his mind mid plan and continues to act human.

Since he never leaves the message or has the confrontation in Paris, the doctor remains unaware of Gallifrey’s destruction. The fam wait off on asking their questions since she isn’t off with them.

Orphan 55 happens, and while the fam go do their shit, O stays with the Doctor bc admit it, she was like oh ;-; when everyone went to explore. My poor baby. So they hang out together before everything goes to shit, how cute?? Things get resolved, but with the revelation of one of earth’s potential fates, and the potential that the doctor lied about knowing, the fam decide to ask to know more about her. She shares what she believes its true at the time, being born on gallifrey and being a timelord, O looms in the background looking awkward bc he knows none of that is true and he feels horrible keeping the truth from her, it makes him as bad as the rest of the time lords- but he is selfish and he doesn’t want to stop what he’s doing, he’s started to really enjoy her company, its everything he’s ever wanted, every star.

And then it’s ruined when Yaz asks to see her own planet. Blissfully unaware of its destruction, she takes them, and so they’re right there with her when she sees, opens the doors to the rubble, the dying flames- and oh god. The fam are horrified, she’s horrified, O has to fake it, while being utterly glad those nasties are dead- maybe he gets to sneakily comfort hug her??? like she’s trying not to tear up even after that whole shit show of the confession dial, it was her home??so yeah he’s like hugging her but he’s so angry bc they dont deserve her tears?? 

The doctor is off after that, and the fam know why, and none of their words of comfort do much, because sure they’ve just witnessed the death of earth too but that is just one timeline, can be completely avoided, while gallifrey is gone forever, and she believes she’s once more the last of her kind. it hurts.

they visit tesla all the same, and when that big ass scorpion looking alien (bc im sorry i didnt like the episode and i’ve forgotten her name so....) mentions dead planets, she can feel the fam stiffen, as though the doctor is gonna blow at any minute, but she keeps calm, tries to bury the rage, but O can tell, can tell by the way her arms shake, hands clenched into fists in her pockets- and it hurts him to see her like this- the longer he spends around her, pretending to be someone he’s not, he’s just realizing more and more what a dumbass he is and that he’s still as in love with her now than he was all those years ago in the academy- none of the truth will change that-

and then boom the shit show with the judoon occurs and suddenly O is confused af because that Lee guy could ONLY have been him. Who else on gallifrey was stupid enough to hide out with the doctor, marry them and die for them?? him because he’s a dumbass? but he’s a dumbass who definitely doesnt remember this memories?? which theoretically in the doctors timeline should have been sometime after the division? or during? he’s not sure? but to his knowledge he shouldn’t have been alive at this stage? and now he’s not sure what the fuck HIS own life is too? did they take his memories from him too? has he lost part of his life? suddenly the truth doesnt seem as known as he thought- so while the doctor is reeling from the information of Ruth being her somehow? O is having his own mental crisis because what the fuck did they do to him too? what is he missing?? 

praxeus continues as similar as it did originally, O is only the tiniest impressed at Yaz, ever since Spyfall he’d sensed she was the human with the most potential to not be utterly worthless so he’s glad at least one of the doctors latest pets seems to have some initiative?? but yeah i dont wanna change much about praxeus? its not important- except the doctor saying she’s a romantic and the master wants that? wait what- he’s conflicted about his own thoughts? he wanted to break her, destroy her with the truth? but he also just wants to wrap her in his arms? make everything as okay as he can? what the fuck is even happening with him? jsut your usual ‘im a mess’ vibes lmao

What didn't help my whole subconsciously-missionary-minded, silent-echoes-of-Mormonism socialism illusion, which made me think it would be selfish and wrong to demand my own liberation, was the misapplication of standpoint epistemology - put simply, when "identity politics" goes bad.

Putting the rest under a cut, because this is a long post.

While it's crude and ultimately incorrect to only say, for example, "Listen to Black voices", without emphasizing the critical thinking skills and empathy necessary to listen to Cornel West, and dismiss Candace Owens for the right-wing corporate hack that she is, what is for certain is that someone like me, a 100% white American settler of Mormon pioneer stock (on one side of my family, anyway), and with no formal education on the subject matter, doesn't have authority to speak on the experience of Black people in America. I have no argument against that, because it's true.

Continuing further, just because, in spite of the fact neither racism nor colonialism oppresses me, capitalism still does, this doesn't mean I have as much authority to speak on it as a Black member of the working class does, as anti-Black racism and capitalism compound on and depend on each other, making the lives of Black working class people more difficult than the lives of white working class people. Doesn't mean I can't speak on capitalism, just means I'm not the leading voice.

That being said - I'm going to talk as if I'm still a believing Mormon, let alone Christian, in this and the next paragraph, to better explain the subconscious workings of my mind, due to their brainwashing - the difference in our positions can be wrongly perceived, especially by someone raised in the illusory colonial missionary mindset, similar to the position of those with "the gospel" and those "of the world", where those with "the truth" have more, but are, like all, oppressed by "sin", yet at least believe themselves to have the knowledge and wherewithal to resist, while those "worldly" people aren't blessed with the wealth of God's Word, nor the solidarity of the church, and are thus further deprived of the perfection God desires for his children than those of His Flock already are, and must be ministered to, brought into the Fold, and Saved from On High.

Yet there must ever be a humility to such actions, there must ever be self-denial, for all are imperfect, even those in the church, as, just as Christ shed His blood, and allowed His flesh to be pierced, even to His death, in limitless sacrifice for the sins of all of the Children of Men, that they may be redeemed, so have countless socialist, communist, and anarchist revolutionaries died for the cause, and yet all who live, who do not seclude themselves from the world and its markets, facilitate the continued exploitation and robbery of each other by the capitalist class. All are imperfect, and all would deserve bondage and bloodshed, were it not for the bleeding hearts of the martyrs.

So, you see, even someone who consciously attempts to reject Christianity can still fall victim to its logic, even after abandoning the official doctrine of it, if proper safeguards against the general thought processes of it are not taken. Returning to the original point I've tried to raise, I've fallen for a long time to a Christian-esque stance of personal martyrdom for the sake of "saving others" to the point I believed pursuing my own liberation would be selfish.

I'm mentally ill and neurodivergent to the point that getting myself to even get into the habit of seeking jobs is difficult, much more so landing myself an interview; and getting an offer of employment? Only happened once, at the end of my first interview. As you predicted, the job sucked, they were desperate to hire me because it sucks, and it wasn't 3 months before I quit. I quit in late September of 2018. It's been almost 3 years of me not having a job.

I got my driver's license in mid 2019, but got into a minor parking accident that only broke a headlight on the car I drove, and didn't damage the other car, in September of that year. It was over a year before I drove again, because of the depth of my depression and anxiety over one accident, which cost about $150. Since January of this year, I've driven somewhat regularly, and have some measure of confidence, but am still anxious every time I'm behind the wheel. I could drive to and from a job, if needed, but it would be a while before that would be comfortable.

I still live with my dad, at the age of 23, and barely have any friends where I live anymore; those local friends I still have, I haven't seen face-to-face for a long time. My dad... my dad could die any day, and I would be royally fucked. Something happened earlier this month, and he wasn't healthy before, but this was really serious. He amazingly got away with few symptoms, and can make a full recovery with the right effort, except... it could still happen again, it would just be less likely. If it does, he could die. Again, I would be royally fucked. I don't know how much his treatment cost, but I know it must be a pretty penny. There's only so long I can continue like this.

Due to my dependence and general impotent state, I can't do a goddamn thing for what I believe in right now. I have to fight self-hatred with the argument that if I die, I'll have died useless and unhelpful, when I could potentially have kept living til I got my act together and finally done something helpful before passing.

I have a college degree. Not a "real" degree, in the sense of it mattering, but I have an Associate degree, DTA. No major; I never could figure out what I wanted to do. It would have been a close call between anything in political science, which would have led toward a government job, which would be unacceptable as an anarchist, or perhaps a professorial job, teaching would-be politicians and bureaucrats, hardly educating anyone of revolutionary intent; or something in chemistry, perhaps biochemistry, leading to some kind of colonial agrichem shit, or making expensive medicines nobody would be able to afford for private entities' profits, possibly having research appropriated by Uncle Sam for weapons purposes - I don't know, but none of that was appealing. I graduated community college with Honors, as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I could have had promise as some or other kind of technocrat or bureaucrat - but I wouldn't be able to live with myself. It seems the less one is exploited, the more they exploit others. I don't know what job I can take that would exploit me enough that I wouldn't hurt others so much, while leaving me alone enough that I wouldn't kill myself, which... which has been a temptation, at times. Not too strong, but it is fucking there. I have promise; at short-term memorization and obedience, at least, like a mongrel dog who can read; but no conviction, no confidence, and a surplus of fear.

There are more woes I can recollect, I can continue this pity party in a book, but enough of that. Suffice it to say, all this time, I should have wanted my own liberation. Colonized people (in an American context, Turtle Island Indigenous and Black) have it worse, LGBT* people have it worse, women have it worse, physically disabled people have it worse, people with greater mental disabilities than my own have it worse, and I can't lead any of their struggles. But I do have the right to demand my own liberation, and I shouldn't convince myself otherwise.

*I don't oppose the use of the other word, except people of my demographic have abused that word so goddamn much, I don't want to type it, myself, let alone say it. It's always tainted when it comes from those who aren't of that community. Please don't think I'm either a radfem or a libfem just because I didn't use that word. I support people identifying with that label in using it.

This post became increasingly personal toward the end. However, I hope my flawed perspective, perhaps unique (read: unrelatable) in some aspects, perhaps explaining, at least in part, some of the fucked-up mental hurdles of white socialist "allies" that we need to get our asses over yesterday, might help - whatever I might have illuminated, and whatever I surely missed. I can understand why someone might want to share and add, share and criticize, or leave this alone with a like, nothing at all, or an unfollow.

Not that I can prevent this from being shared in any way, except by not posting in the first place, but I'm okay with it being shared by other socialists, for whatever it's worth... although I understand the more traction it gets, the more likely I'll get anon hate about being full of myself (deserved, to an extent at least), for being some dumb socialist cuck (not exactly wrong, but rude, and likely from a Nazi, so fuck you), or perhaps from non-Mormon Christians accusing me, someone they'd call a Mormon (which is arguably almost a new ethnicity (not race though) as much as it is a religion) of daring to throw the Christian god and Christianity, in general, under the bus, accusing me of being in league with the devil. So be it.

Chapter 2

         Marcus agrees to allow Red Moon pack to accommodate a nearby hotel, while Jungkook and Jimin stay at his personal home. Despite Jungkook’s refusals, he finally agreed to let you go home by yourself to speak to your father (and Hoseok- but he didn’t need to know that) as well as take a warm shower to calm your nerves.

You can sense Hobi and your father downstairs; you can hear their pacing in the living room. You’ve been sat in your room for nearly twenty minutes now. Tonight, you will spend the first night with your mate. Alone. Entirely alone. Your nerves quicken your heart rate as you fist the duvet while sat on the edge of your bed. He shouldn’t expect to mark, nor mate with you, not after today’s meeting. It’s clearly the wrong time and you of all people would never allow someone that just slandered your best friend’s name to bind you to them for the rest of your life.

You move to the bathroom and switch on the shower, gently slipping out of your clothes. The water feels warm and refreshing on your skin as you wash away all the shock, confusion and anxiety from today, instead greeted with the scented body wash lathering on your chest. You watch as the bubbles sink down the drain of the shower, and you quickly scrub your hair, ridding it of any dirt or muck accumulated throughout the day. You step out from the stream of water and wrap towels around your head and body, heading back into the bedroom. You’re shocked to see Hobi sat nervously on the edge of your bed. When he spots you, his head snaps up and he stumbles over to you, embracing you in a long, comforting hug.

“Y/N, I can’t believe it,” you can hear him trying to hold back his whimpers as he buries his face in your neck, “I can’t believe you’re going to leave.” He sniffles slightly and you completely disregard the fact you are wearing nothing but a towel, instead focusing on comfortingly rubbing his back as he tries to keep himself together.

“Hobi I’m never leaving you,” you promise him. You know it’s one you inevitably cannot keep, and you think he knows it too, but the words are still music to his ears. He pulls back from the hug and you sit next to each other on your bed, somewhat down-heartedly.

“I can’t believe the Alpha is your mate,” he chokes out, disbelievingly, “I always thought you would end up with another Theta, or even a Gamma, someone kind and caring.” You’ve never seen Hobi look so disheartened as the tears gather at his eyes and you have to hold back your sobs.

“Well, you never know, he might be like that,” you purse your lips together as a tear falls at your best friend’s broken look.

“Y/N, don’t play dumb, we both know he’s a cold-hearted killer,” he growls suddenly. You hate that he speaks the truth; you know all the stories of your new mate slaughtering masses.

“Hobi there must be some reason we are bound together,” you insist, in a lousy attempt to be hopeful.

“Y/N, you were supposed to be my mate,” he suddenly begins sobbing, “I- I always thought it was just a delayed reaction or something I- ah fuck who am I kidding,” he sniffs, “I was always in denial.” Hoseok’s confession makes you feel sick to your stomach and an overwhelming sense of guilt pools in your eyes as another tear falls. He’s never said he wants you out loud. He sees and reaches up to wipe it away and you lean your cheek into his hand. It frustratingly doesn’t feel as comforting as before you found Jungkook, but nonetheless the gesture warms both your heart and your wolf, and you feel saddened by Hoseok’s weeping.

“I wish you were my mate,” he whispers, swallowing back the tears then screwing his eyes shut, holding back from crying any further, “I’ll let you get ready.” He gulps again and swiftly exits the room, leaving you feeling more broken than ever.

After recomposing yourself for a good half hour you finally feel ready to now face your father, sat gloomily on the settee. Hoseok must’ve left, after spilling out his heart to you which immediately reignites the burning in your eyes as you think about what he must be doing now; probably in the local bar that serves underage wolves drowning himself in all sorts of liquor and beer. You push down the thoughts as your father’s face comes into sight, buried in his hands. It’s heart-breaking. You never imagined the finding of your mate to be so damn tragic.

“Dad?” You mumble, awkwardly stood next to the sofa. He looks up from his hands at you and smiles sadly, shuffling over a bit and lifting his arm so you can curl into his side like you did as a child. After your mum died, he would hold you like this and stroke your hair comfortingly as he told you the story of how the two of them met. You would never get bored of the tales he told of the two of them, deeply, madly in love.

“You know once,” he starts, “once your mother left me.” What. Your head shoots up to look at him. He’s never told you this one before. He nods sagely before carrying on as you tuck yourself back under his arm.

“She told me she missed her family. She wanted to be close to her sisters,” he pauses, “it was difficult for her to be apart from them; we lived hours away down here in the south, whereas their pack was way up north. She tried to convince them to come and join this pack, but the north was their home, they had a life and their own families there.” You begin playing at the buttons of your father’s shirt childishly as he gently rubs your arm.

“After a few months of being together, one night, I came home from my med classes to find her bags packed and a mind set she was returning home. She said she was unsure if she could come back, and no matter how much I tried to convince her to stay she got the first night bus out of here. She took all her things, all of our photos and even the bloody cutlery,” he chuckles slightly and the vibrations from his chest reverberate through you, and you continue listening contentedly.

“God that woman was stubborn,” he sighs fondly, “I remember when I was trying to persuade her to stay she threw a kettle at my head. A kettle!” You laugh along with him while smiling.

“Did she have good aim?” You grin.

“It was your mother- of course she bloody did!” He chuckles, “Anyway, a few days went by and my wolf was going crazy, for the first time in my life I can honestly say I was not in control of myself. I was drinking, I was getting into fights; I was even approached by our old Alpha telling me to get a grip. He was a little less understanding than Alpha Marcus.” He moves back a bit to look at you, rubbing his thumb over your cheek.

“Eventually, one night, I heard a banging on my door. I ran downstairs only to find your mother on my doorstep, soaked to the skin with her bags in her hands. She’d ran miles and miles and miles, she practically collapsed into my arms.” Your eyes widen as he grins at your reaction.

“In the end, she’d found she couldn’t stay away from me. We couldn’t be apart. We were bound to each other for a reason. Although you may not know that reason right now, Y/N, I can guarantee you that there is one. Jungkook and yourself-,” he sighs, “you’re made for each other. You may not be able to see that right now, but you and him are going to be bound to each other- for life.” You squeeze your eyes shut and bury your face into his slide, clutching onto him for dear life.

“Poppet, I know you don’t want to leave Hoseok or June or myself, but just because we won’t be physically with you, doesn’t mean you won’t have our full support at all times; we will always be right there when you need us.” He wraps his arms around you, snuggling you further into his chest. You’re gonna miss him so much.

Leaving your dad is one of the hardest things you have ever done, even though it’s only for a night, this will be the first night with your mate. You cannot help but feel torn now between Jungkook, as much of an arse as he is, and your life here. Jungkook’s main pack is the highest north you can go, up in the mountains and hidden from any urban cities, it’ll take days to reach, and you will hardly get to see your dad or your friends. You’ll have to start completely new.

Reaching Marcus’ house, you knock hesitantly on the door. Your Luna opens it and smiles welcomingly at you, ushering you inside.

“Hello dear, come on in,” she smiles, leading you through to the kitchen. It’s bizarre to find Alpha Marcus sat at the breakfast bar reading a newspaper while scoffing down his dinner; it’s weird seeing your Alpha carrying out such a mundane thing when you’re so used to seeing him acting all powerful and leader-like. He takes a sip of water when he sees you, quickly swallowing down his mouthful of food.

“Ah, Y/N, welcome,” he grins, “Jungkook’s upstairs already. I think he’s talking with Beta Jimin. You’re welcome to stay down here for a bit, or you can just head straight up.” You ponder for a moment before reaching a conclusion.

“I think I’ll go straight up,” you announce, “I think him and I have a bit of talking to do.”

Marcus smiles knowingly, “Of course. It’s the first door on the left at the top of the stairs.”

You tread up the stairs carefully, each step burning with trepidation. You reach the door to the room Jungkook is in swiftly; assured it is the right door by the wafting scent lingering near it that you only get in close proximity to your mate. Apparently, Jungkook sense this too, as seconds after approaching the door he swings it open, sighing with relief at the sight of you.

“Y/N,” he breathes. You can see Jimin stood in the room shifting his weight awkwardly between his feet as Jungkook looks you over, “do you want me to take that?” He points to your small bag of clothing and toiletries and you nod politely, handing it over to him, now more certain to form a better starting point with your mate after hearing your father’s story.

“I’ll leave you two alone,” Jimin declares suddenly, quietly slipping past yourself and Jungkook stood in the doorway. For a moment, it’s a bit awkward, just stood under the doorframe uselessly. Jungkook quickly reasserts himself, though, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Coming in?” he smiles, stepping against the door to let you through. The door shuts behind him and you both move further into the room. Alone.

As anticipated, Marcus’ guestroom is beyond satisfactory; the crisp, white sheets highlighted with pastel blue decorative cushions that lay invitingly on a four-post bed. The windows have been left open, bringing in a slight draught pushing the silky curtains into the room as a mellow breeze nips teasingly at your bare arms. You respond to the current of air circling the room by bringing your hands up to rub your arms gently; Jungkook immediately responds by darting over to the windows and pulling them shut. You almost wish he didn’t do that, though, because now the room feels much smaller and enclosed, and there’s no single way of escaping.

The walls are coated in a cream, white colour and accentuated by various blue canvases painting the empty spaces. You’re drawn to one particular piece; a painting of a rowboat. The wood of the boat is white, and a small faceless fisherman sits emptily near the bow with his fishing rod hooked onto the gunwale. You tilt your head as you try to look closer, searching for an expression from the featureless painted man.

“So,” Jungkook startles you from your oblivious state, “are you tired?” You can tell he is feeling awkward and torn. The last time you spoke you argued, and you solidified your discontent in leaving Scarlet Oak.

“A little,” you shrug, returning to admire the little painting. You hear Jungkook shuffle behind you, closing the distance between you, but as you tense when you feel his proximity, he stops himself. You swiftly turn around to look at him and he’s a lot closer than you anticipate; close enough that you can hear his small pants of breath.

“Y/N…,” he watches you intently, “I- my- my wolf- he…,” Jungkook trails off and you can sense the inner conflict he’s battling which pains you. Your wolf wants him too. Although, you shan’t act on it. You can feel your wolf rejoicing in your mate’s closeness, but you don’t want to let him in so easily. You want to know him first. You take a step back from him and bite your lip.

“Shall we, err, sit down?” You ask, with a little laugh to lighten the mood. He nods, clearly a little hurt by your indirect rejection, then joins you to sit at the bottom of the bed, while you sit on the side situating one of the bed posts between the two of you; just to be safe.

“So, you’re a Theta?” Jungkook starts. 

When you don’t respond, he continues, “I’ve always been interested in the medical fields.” Lies. You can feel he’s lying, and you think he knows that you know, but you choose to ignore those thoughts and engage with his small talk.

“Well I was raised solely by my father, and he studied medicine- still does... occasionally. He taught me a lot growing up,” you breathe, trailing your fingers along the silky feeling sheets, “I wanted to be just like him. He has always been my idol.” Jungkook looks a little solemn when you look over to be greeted with the muscles of his back, tensing through his dark top.

“I wish I could say the same,” he mutters.

“Huh?”

“Nothing,” Jungkook sighs and pushes his tongue into the side of his cheek, clearly thinking something over. You look at him with a frown, edging a little closer to his end of the bed.

“You know we’re mates now right?” You exclaim, “We’re going to find out everything about each other eventually.” Jungkook bites his lip and fiddles nervously with his thumbs. It’s ridiculously bizarre seeing him this way; the mighty Alpha of the Red Moon pack nervous talking to a girl? It’s just unheard of. Yet here you are; here he is, unable to even look you in the eye.

“Jungkook?”

“Let’s save it for another day yeah,” he whips his head up, “so what do you do? At school- I mean- do you- Christ- what do you study?” You edge another bit closer, wetting your lower lip with your tongue.

“Well I study English solely, but I like to dabble in other subjects too occasionally- just extra-curricular stuff.”

“Right… you know, at Red Moon you wouldn’t have to stop learning,” Jungkook slides in and you sigh at his diversion, “I could even get you personal tutors- you could study anything you want-“

“Let’s just- let’s not talk about that right now.”

“But we need to.”

“You got a free ticket out about your dad, why don’t I get one?” The room falls silent again as the tensions have risen. Are you ever going to be able to talk to this man without bickering? You clear your throat while running your fingers along the fabric of your jeans, moving them up and down. The material feels incredibly tight as the humidity in the room peaks beneath the tension sheathing you both.

You notice the door to the bathroom a moment later, and you suddenly have an escape route. Although only temporary, anything to save you from this situation is cherished. You clear your throat again, standing up slowly.

“I am going to take a bath,”you announce rather formally, unintentionally making it even more awkward. Jungkook suddenly stands up too, getting a bit closer to you.

“Are you sure? We were talking?” You can sense his futile attempts to subdue his short temper, but you still move to pick up your bag from where Jungkook placed it on a chair in the corner of the room.

“We were sat in silence,” you laugh, taking your bag.

“Well you were disrespecting me.” Your laughs cease at his accusation and you turn to him with an incredulous kind of look.

You look at him for a moment in disbelief, “Disrespecting? I’m not one of your pack members, Jungkook, I’m your mate. I think you need to re-evaluate the way you’re talking to me because if you were planning on ever seeing me leave Scarlet Oak for you, and I promise you this, you’re going the wrong way about it. Now I’m going to go and take a bath, and you’re going to stay in here and try to understand the concept of empathy before I decide to find someone better for me; even if fate doesn’t agree.” After your little rant, you go to turn around, but not before Jungkook snaps you back and forces you backwards till you’re against the wall with his body’s pressed against yours, his eyes almost black as his wolf struggles for dominance.

“What do you mean find someone else better- nobody else will fucking touch you, you never get to leave me,” Jungkook snarls, pushing his head into your neck. Your stomach does somersaults in both anxiety and some excitement that’s genetically forced upon you at the closeness of your mate, but you continue to glare at him, still determined to prove your point.

“I can smell him all over you, you know,” Jungkook lifts his head back up and stares directly into your eyes and your indignation falters momentarily, “that stupid little wolf-pup you love so much.”

“His name is Hoseok-,”

“I don’t care what his name is; he shouldn’t have touched you. He shouldn’t ever touch you, only I can touch you. You’re mine,” Jungkook moves close enough that you can feel his breath fanning your lips as his eyes flicker from them, back up to your own.

“Jungkook, stop,” your voice wavers beneath the Alpha’s penetrating stare making you squirm slightly as you try to manoeuvre yourself away from his hands above your shoulders against the wall, “You’re scaring me.” You gulp.

Jungkook instantly seems to gain control of himself as his eyes widen and he throws himself practically across the room to run his hand through his hair, resting the other on his hip. You stand still against the wall, breathing much heavier and closing your eyes in an attempt to calm yourself down.

“I’m sorry,” Jungkook breathes, “I’m sorry, you should- I mean, you can have your bath.” You nod your head with your gaze down at the floor and don’t dare look up till your feet have frantically carried you into the bathroom, concealed from Jungkook’s view. You bring your hand up to your heart and you can feel it beating out of your chest, hard enough that you feel a bit faint. 

You draw a hot bath as quickly as possible, drowning out Jungkook’s seemingly eternal pacing in the bedroom you can hear stomping against the wooden flooring. As you pour in some bubble bath under the running water, the door slams shut. Guess he will be back later. You strip down out of your clothes and dip the tip of your foot into the water, slowly savouring the warmth as you step in and place yourself down to lean your head against the wall. You’re not normally a bath-type of person, but after a shower earlier you feel much more inclined to enjoy the warmth and indulge in a brief escape from the new drama that’s your life.

Your head lulls back after watching the water ripple beneath the lavender scented clouds of soap blanketing your limbs. Your eyes slither shut, relishing the serenity of Marcus’ soundproof walls that keep out the stress, the noise, the chaos; you’re left in tranquillity as you begin to fantasise of yourself sat in a lagoon somewhere, underneath the piercing gaze of the hot sun. 

The truth of your reality seeps in though, indicated by your knocking of the shower gel onto the floor accidentally.

“Shit,” you mutter, leaning over to pick the bottle back up and place it on the side again.

“You okay?” A voice startles you from outside and you yelp slightly, insisting that you’re fine.

“Yeah- yeah, I just dropped something,” you call back, nervously. The voice laughs, and you immediately recognise Alpha Marcus’ deep chortle.

“Okay, Jungkook has gone out for a bit- he asked me to tell you,” Marcus announces through the wood of the door. Out?

“Oh, okay, thank you,” you respond a little wearily. Your wolf becomes a little uneasy at this, and your legs become restless, rippling the bathwater even more so. You sense Marcus leaving which prompts you to get up and out of the bath, but suddenly he’s back outside the door again.

“And Y/N?” Marcus’ voice is a little quieter this time.

“Yeah?”

“He seemed angry,” you gulp at Marcus’ revelation, “did- did anything happen?” You wrap a towel around your body from the towel rack and slowly tuck in one end under your arm before taking a breath and responding.

“We just disagreed a little, it’ll blow over, there’s nothing to worry about, Alpha,” you promise, but you can sense Marcus’ apprehension before he leaves properly this time.

You return back into the bedroom and hastily redress into your night clothes, just in case of Jungkook coming back to find you half naked, which probably would not be the best situation. You slide into the left side of the bed and curl up against the pillow, finally allowing all of the day’s events to catch up with you and cease your wolf’s inner turmoil through the sedation of sleep. You’re exhausted.

Hide ‘n Seek

Pairing: SKZ’s Chan x OC [Sieun] Genre: slice of life, slight fluff Word Count: 3,412 Summary: Sieun thought she wasn’t playing hide and seek, but finds out later that Chan found her.

Warning: curse words. semi-proofread, not my best work tbh

oh, look another SKZ story with Bang Chan... lol oh well. anyways, this was inspired by Jerrilyn’s Hide ‘n Seek, but then it came out differently than i had wanted and i just wrote on thinking i could bring it back to how i may have wanted it, but nope. so this is the product of it and it’s there. lol so it’s whatever as i did have fun, but it isn’t what i really wanted for it. but yeah, happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~

"Quick, hide me!"

Sieun heard a male voice announced in a panicked-like tone before looking up with a questioning expression. She spotted a familiar face and her lips quirked upwards as she wondered what her friend did this time around.

"What did you do, Jisung?"

"Nothing." Jisung answered as he tried to hide within Sieun's belongings.

"You have to have done something because you hardly hang out in the library and people rarely come to this side of it."

"Which is exactly a great hiding spot for me right now."

He grinned at her while shuffling around her things as he pushed her out from her desk and settled himself underneath it while bringing her back to cover him. Sieun had her own private-like table at a secluded area within the library. After hanging out here since her freshman year and doing a work study, she had gotten along super well with the librarians that they made this her spot. Of course, it wouldn't be when she graduated this year, but for the time being this area was hers and hers alone. It was a perfect place whenever she had to study or needed a sanctuary from everything else.

"Stay like this and act like I'm not here." Jisung instructed her. "And if someone asks for me, act like you don't know me."

Sieun didn't respond and continued her studying before she was interrupted. Jisung frowned believing that his friend didn't hear him and patted her thigh impatiently as he repeated what he had said before. Still, Sieun didn't react and Jisung pushed her out to pop out his head to glare at her.

"Did you not hear me?"

Sieun paused and looked down at him.

"You told me to act like you're not here and that I don't know you."

"Oh, at least acknowledged that fact so I would know that I'm not talking to air."

"Do you wanna get caught for whatever you did or do you want me to help you?"

"Alright, alright."

Jisung backed off as he returned back to his position while pulling Sieun's chair back into its place again. She smirked as she went back to her books before hearing another voice loudly muttering stuff. Jisung started to slightly freak upon hearing a familiar voice as he began tapping at Sieun's legs. She slightly kicked him to calm down and he stopped while letting out a quiet ow. Sieun didn't have time to laugh at her friend's misery as the other male's voice got louder. She frowned while trying to make out who was making their way back to her secret spot through the limited open spaces of the book shelves.

Sieun's eyes followed the stranger to be alert of his presence for when he rounded the last shelf and came to full view of her sight. Her whole demeanor became super confused when she spotted Sigma Kappa Zeta's Chan standing before her. Although she was a part of a sorority, but she was more low-key about her appearance and got all of her updates from her friends who were all from different houses if not her own. Sieun just didn't understand why someone like Chan was here and looking for her friend. Then it finally clicked a moment later. Jisung had joined Sigma Kappa Zeta just last year when her friend raved on and on about it after being accepted. Sieun had totally forgotten that fact.

"Oh, hi." Chan greeted her with an awkward smile. "Thought I would find someone else back here."

"Hi." Sieun greeted back out of politeness. "What kind of person were you thinking of finding?"

"Uh, a male that's part of Sigma Kappa Zeta."

"Sorry, just me a female who's not part of any sororities." She lied about being a part of a sorority.

"Wait. Aren't you a part of Nu Chi Zeta?"

"No. That's my friend."

"Chi Rho Theta?"

"No. That's another friend."

"Mu Beta Beta?"

"Nope. Another friend."

"Alpha Gamma Sigma?"

"Once again, no. That's my other friend."

"I feel like I've seen you before." Chan stated with a pensive look as Sieun shrugged like she had no idea what he was talking about.

"Yeah, I dunno."

Sieun knew. She had classes with him over the years, but didn't want to state that.

"How many friends do you have in a sorority that you're not in any of the ones that I've mentioned and which one are you a part of?" Chan asked with a puzzled look.

Sieun cast the male a similar look before responding not really telling him the whole truth again.

"Just those four, but why are you asking me about that? Aren't you looking for someone right now?"

"Oh, right. I am."

Chan let out a cough as he sheepishly looked off to the side of him before casting his eyes onto Sieun again who went back to her materials.

"Say," He began, "You wouldn't happen to know someone name Jisung, right?"

"Define which Jisung." Sieun remarked with her focus still on her things. "There's quite a few of them on campus."

"Oh, right. Um, his name is Han Jisung. He's a second year and he's a part of Sigma Kappa Zeta."

"Nope, never heard him. Sorry."

She cast Chan a wide smile in hopes that he would soon go away so that she could get rid of Jisung and return back to her own thing.

"Oh, okay. Well, if you happen to chance upon him in some way, tell him that Chan is looking for him."

"Which Chan? There's quite a few with that name, too."

"Bang Chan."

"Okay. Got it."

Sieun flashed him another smile as Chan partially got the hint.

"Okay, thank you."

Chan backed up, turned around, and was about to round the corner when he did a one-eighty and came back to face her.

"Why do you have your own desk at the back of the library?"

Sieun tried to not make a face at Chan's continuous questions of making conversations with her.

"Um, is that really important right now? I thought you needed to find someone?"

"He can wait. He actually has until the end of tonight before the game's over."

"What game?"

"Hide 'n Seek."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah. The fra-"

"Wait," Sieun held up a hand for Chan to stop talking, "Houses are not supposed to reveal their secrets unless the person is a part of it."

Chan shut up immediately with widened eyes. He then pointed behind him.

"I'm just gonna go."

Sieun nodded in agreement not wanting to say anything. Chan cast her one last smile before turning around and finally leaving. Sieun was about to go back to her studies when she was sudden pushed backwards having forgotten about Jisung's hiding underneath her desk.

"Were you hitting on one of my frat bros?" Jisung questioned her while sitting on his knees now as he blocked her from resuming her studying.

"I wasn't hitting on anyone and your friend was talking to me. Not me to him." Sieun clarified.

"So why did you lie that you weren't a part of sorority?"

"Was there a need for him to know that I was a part of one? I'm graduating this year and won't see him or you ever again."

She chuckled after saying that causing the male to pout.

"Hey, that's not nice. I thought we were friends."

"We were never friends."

Jisung gasped before a playful look cross his face that Sieun caught. She spoke before he could act upon it.

"Mess with me and I'll make sure to tell Chan where you're hiding."

Jisung stopped and groaned.

"Ah, always ruining my fun."

"Right. You're the one that came to bother me."

"Oh, I did, didn't I?"

Sieun narrowed her eyes at her friend.

"Why did you come all the way here when there were other places to hiding places?"

"Because you're here."

Jisung immediately shut up, but Sieun didn't probed further on that topic not wanting to involved with it.

"Whatever. Why don't you just run along and leave me alone?"

"I can't. I have to hide out until midnight tonight."

"Why?"

"Because it's part of the game. And the game states that I-"

"Ah, ah, ah," Sieun interrupted him by placing a hand over his mouth, "You can't reveal your house's secrets."

Jisung removed her hand from his mouth as a mischievous smile graced his face.

"I don't like your face." Sieun said with an unsure expression and shied away from Jisung.

The male frowned before brushing off his friend's words.

"Anyways, are you busy tonight?"

Sieun met up with her four friends, Sumin, Seorin, Chaewon, and Nayoung at CLOVER for dinner. While eating and talking about what they were gonna do tonight, Sieun found out that they were also given a small-like white placard like hers from members of Sigma Kappa Zeta.

"Wait, you guys have one, too?" Sieun asked in disbelief while bringing hers out. "Mine's from Jisung."

"Mine's from Seungmin." Nayoung stated as she brought out hers. "He gave it to me like last week."

"Oh, I got one last week, too." Seorin said as she showed hers. "It's from a kid I tutor named Jeongin."

"Hyunjin." Chaewon inputted while placing hers on the table. "He gave it to be like weeks ago in case he forgot."

"Oh, then that leaves me." Sumin piped up with a laugh as she flashed hers. "Felix gave it to be this morning."

"Did they say what it was for though?" Sieun questioned them with a frown. "I don't want to be associated with any of this."

"Sieun, you're a part of the Greek Life, you're always gonna be associated with it." Chaewon remarked with a laugh.

"I only joined because you guys did and didn't think y'all were gonna join different ones then I pledged to."

"That's just how things work." Nayoung deadpanned before casting them all a look. "This thing starts at ten. Are we all going?"

"Of course." Sumin answered. "Felix said that if I don't show up with this thing, then he doesn't get any points or whatever it is."

"He told you everything?" Seorin asked Sumin.

"No. He almost did, but I stopped him before he let out his fraternity's secret."

"So, you're saying if we don't show up, then the boys' won't get their points or something like that?" Nayoung inquired as Sumin nodded. "Yeah, something like that."

"Hmm, then Jisung's gonna get jacked shit. Serves that kid right when he almost got caught this afternoon when I was in the library." Sieun replied with a smirked.

"Why? What happened?" Seorin asked interested. "Is this that kid that bothers you all the time?"

"Yes, but his member, Chan, came looking for him and he confused me with all of y'all."

Sieun scoffed as she looked at all of her friends.

"Do I even resemble any of you?"

The other four looked at one another with a knowing look before all staring at Sieun.

"What?" She asked cautiously. "I don't like how y'all's faces look."

Sieun found herself outside of Sigma Kappa Zeta along with her friends. She didn't want to show up, but they dragged her over. Her friends still didn't respond to her questions and told her that she'll find out on her own if she came to the event at Sigma Kappa Zeta. She disliked all of this a lot, but she knew that somewhere down within her that she liked it even just a little. She won't admit it to them openly of course.

"C'mon, let's get inside."

Seorin hooked her arms with Sieun and began pulling her towards the house.

"Ohh, yeah, let's!"

Sumin joined in and hooked arms with Sieun's other side. Sieun groaned as she try to move backwards, but Chaewon came from behind her and pushed her forward. Sieun sighed knowing that she wasn't going to be able to escape any time soon. The quintet walked up to the door with Nayoung knocking on the door. Soon enough the door opened revealing another member, Minho, on the other side.

"Hel-Nayoung?"

His brows furrowed upon seeing Nayoung standing there.

"What are you doing here?"

"This." Nayoung answered as she held out the placard.

Minho took the card and frowned after reading it.

"How do you know Seungmin?"

"That doesn't matter. The others have one, too."

Nayoung ignored the male's question and instead motioned for the other four to present their cards. Minho reluctantly took them while seeming impressed by them. He glanced at all five of them with a charming smile.

"Ladies," He motioned for them to enter the house, "Welcome to Sigma Kappa Zeta."

"I thought you weren't part of a sorority."

Sieun heard from behind her as she looked over to see who it was and realized it was Chan. She was on Sigma Kappa Zeta's rooftop having chosen this spot away from her friends and not wanting to be surrounded by other people. She hated crowds and being stuck at someone else's place that she wasn't comfortable with. Also she thought that no one would want to come outside due to the cold weather. After entering the frat house, Minho informed them that they were allowed to roam the area, but cannot leave the premises until the event was over at midnight.

"I'm not." Sieun lied wondering what made him still think she was.

"Well, the only way you're here tonight is that one of the members had to have given you a placard, right?"

Chan walked closer to her, but kept his distance.

"Yes." Sieun confirmed. "What of it?"

"The condition of the invitation was that it was to be given to a sorority member."

"Aren't you exposing your house's secrets though?"

Chan ignored her statement and continued speaking.

"You're part of Sigma Theta Iota."

Sieun continued to stay silent.

"You're Park Sieun."

Sieun laughed it off not sure where he was getting at.

"Okay, and? What are you trying to get at?"

"Han Jisung invited you."

"Okay, and?" Sieun repeated not really getting it.

Sieun glanced up at Chan still staying put while Chan came over and squatted beside her. Sieun shied away not sure why he was so close.

"Is there something you want from me?"

Chan cast her a charming smile.

"I found you."

"Excuse me?"

Sieun seemed composed on the outside, but she was totally freaking out on the inside. She really hoped that whatever Chan was gonna say next wasn't what she was thinking it to be. No one knew. Not even her friends. Not even Jisung.

"Where. After. Love. Now."

Or so she thought.

"How the fuck do you know that?"

She wanted her tone to be more firm and fierce, but it came out more like a harsh unbelievable whisper. She couldn't believe that Chan had somehow found out about her hashtag project on Instagram inspired by a Thai music video. Let's just say that the project was related to Chan in a way without his absolute knowledge.

"I happened to noticed it during the class we shared a few months back when I saw it when I sat behind you."

"You were spying over my shoulder?"

"What? No. I more or less just saw you scrolling the hashtag and images and got curious."

Sieun turned away from Chan freaking out silently at the prospect that Chan now discovered the images she took of him and the overall set up for it. She could not believe he of all people found out. Then her mind went wild and wondered if everything that happened today was because of his doing. Like Jisung coming to see her at the library to lead Chan there and then later giving her the card. Her friends giving her funny looks when she mentioned Chan confusing her for her friends of different sororities. She groaned quietly at having being the last person to be oblivious about it.

"I gotta go." Sieun abruptly stated while standing up with Chan quickly following after with a puzzled look. "Wait. Why?"

"I'm not feeling well. I feel exposed. I just, this is weird and I don't know how to go about this. So goodbye."

Before Sieun could run off, Chan reached out and took a hold of her hand. He pulled her towards him and Sieun looked everywhere else, but at him. Chan found it cute, but he was more confused as he thought that now it was out in the open she would react differently.

"Sieun."

Sieun grew alert, but she just couldn't face him.

"Please look at me."

She contemplated on doing that. She didn't have to as Chan moved so he would be in her line of sight. She finally focused her attention on him.

"Alright, Chan. What?"

It came out more hostile than she had meant it to.

"Sorry." She apologized while correcting her tone. "Alright, so you know it's me, but don't get all cliche and whatever."

Chan chuckled at her words.

"Okay, but you're the one that was like playing hide and seek this hold time."

"I wasn't playing anything. You were never meant to find it."

"But they were such great photos of me although you did take them when I didn't know about them."

"You have a lot of photos of yourself circulating around campus okay. Don't think I'm some weird stalker or whatever."

"I never did."

"Oh."

Sieun then remembered that Chan was holding her hand and tried to shake his grip on her hand, but he held onto it firmly.

"Aww, I thought this was what you wanted."

"There's a difference between what I created with that hashtag and real life."

"So why not make the hashtag real?"

"You know I would die by like all your little fangirls or whatever."

"Which ones?"

"You really gonna play dumb when you have a whole entourage of girls that wanna get with you, right?"

"I'm not. I just never really noticed them until you mentioned it."

Sieun rolled her eyes while eyeing their held hands.

"Okay, Chan. You know now and I know now, but why are you still holding onto my hand."

"Didn't I say to make Where After Love Now real?"

"Bullshit. Please don't tell me that you like me, too?"

"And if I do?"

"That's some cliche shit right there."

"You do know that we've had classes over the years together, right?"

"Yes, but why asked me about what sorority I was in then?"

"I was just testing you."

"For what?"

"If you would tell me who you were or not."

"And why would I go and do that?"

"It would've made it easier to talk with you instead of having Jisung set this up."

"So Jisung did know and this is now cliche."

"I mean, one way or another, it was bound to be cliche."

Sieun sighed as she looked at Chan expectantly.

"Alright, Bang Chan, what now?"

Chan smiled at her knowingly before pulling out his phone and waving at her.

"How about a picture to commemorate our official status?"

"Official status? The fuck. We're not a couple or even dating."

"Not yet, but this can be the start of it."

"Wow."

She wavered for a bit.

"Could we like, not, do it?"

"No. We're definitely doing it."

Before Sieun could reject the idea again, Chan took a photo of their held hands. He let go only to type away on his phone. A moment later, Sieun's phone dinged. She knew that Chan had just tagged her with whatever he did on Instagram.

"Look at your phone."

"I'll do it later."

"Okay. Let's make more."

"I would rather hide."

"And then I'll seek you out."

"There's really no escaping from you is there?"

"Nope. Seems like you're stuck with me."

"Okay, well it's not bad. We just have several months with one another before graduation and then off we go to other things away from one another."

Chan rolled his eyes before laughing a second later.

"It's okay. We can talk about all of that when the time comes for it."

"I guess, but alright. So what do you wanna do?"

"Is it midnight yet?"

Sieun checked her phone and saw that there was still half an hour left before then.

"No."

"Alright. Let's grab something to eat and let Jisung suffer."

"Ohh, I like that. Let him stay and hidden."

The pair laughed as they got off the rooftop.

6: Hidden

“...so by adjusting the variable theta here in the matrix, you can alter the angle of rotation.”

Ocellus kept her eyes on her note paper, making clean, orderly brackets to house the grids of numbers and trigonometric functions. She flicked her forked tongue, getting a cursory taste of the emotions in the room. The delicious, cool flavor of learning and understanding, soured slightly by a smattering of confusion. A couple spicy motes of frustration, largest from where Smolder sat. The changeling glanced towards the dragon, finding that her friend’s own eyes were darting between the chalkboard, Headmare Starlight, and... her. Pulling herself back from the draw of nibbling on the emotions, Ocellus startled when she realized she had missed two entire equations being written. That they were just the first steps in a practice problem was small comfort to the blue-chitin changeling; who knew what verbal instructions she could have missed, too?

After catching back up in her notes, she chanced another taste, intending to take more of a passive taste, paying more attention to class. However, what she intended was overruled harder Princess Celestia denying Prince Blueblood the last bite of her cake; an intoxicating wave of lust filled her tastebuds, overpowering nearly every other emotion in the room. Reflexively, Ocellus turned towards its source, both surprised and suddenly hungry - although she hated to admit it. Not only was it filling yet almost nutritionally useless, the taste and her reaction recalled memories in her from before the Great Reformation, when she had been drawn towards and fed on such strong love-adjacent emotions.

Nonetheless, she found herself staring at her dragon friend, who was now staring entirely at her. A light blush crept onto her cheeks as she considered the implications: her unsubtle, willful dragon friend was focused wholly on her, and thinking incredibly lewd thoughts at her. Her thoughts were once more diverted when the lust suddenly cut off, replaced by a more platonic desire. In the back of her mind, she acknowledged that Headmare Starlight was going over the answer to the problem on the board, almost unconsciously copying down the correct answer for later comparison; at present, though, she noticed Smolder repeatedly moving her hand. Thumb and fingers together, save for an extended pinky, rocking back towards the dragoness twice. Pause, hand still in position, and another two rocks. It was a sign the two of them had worked out - miming the high-society griffon etiquette for holding a teacup.

Ocellus smiled and nodded ever so slightly, then waited until Smolder smiled back, put her hand down, and turned back to the front of the class before doing the same herself. She mentally kicked herself for dropping her attention from class, but reassured herself that friends were important, as well. After all, the School of Friendship has “friendship” right in its name... as well as school, so she resolved to stay focused on the lesson until after class. Her pencil once more found the paper when the headmare moved onto three-dimensional transformation matrices, and her tail subconsciously began to sway back and forth as she drank in the learning - almost literally, as an emotivore!

After class, Ocellus met up with the dragon, who was leaning against the wall outside of the classroom. “Was that... necessary?” she asked, her blush returning with the memory of the wave of lust, “I mean, you could have asked me after class; I tend to linger the longest to speak with our professors.”

Smolder smirked. “No, but I wanted to make sure you wouldn’t stay for an hour or two after Starlight Glimmer dismissed us and take up all the time we could’ve used. Seeing your reaction was just a bonus. So, same place as before?”

Ocellus nodded, starting to walk with her friend. “That works. I’ll drop off my stuff back in our room first, and then we can head out.”

“Sounds good. I’ll tag along; I’ve gotta grab a-” the dragoness cut herself off, looking around at the ponies and creatures around, “a... a thing. My thing.”

Back in their room, the two students swapped out their schoolbooks for a small selection of carefully-folded dresses. Ocellus levitated a tube of lipstick into Smolder’s bag for her, and added a bottle of hoof polish and a compact of blush to her own. Loaded up with their secret payload of fancy fittings, the two girls strode out of their room, sharing fanged smiles.

They made it to the main hall before somecreature noticed and approached them. Silverstream, with her distinctly bubbly step, strode up to the pair. Ocellus flicked out her tongue and got back a hefty dose of curiosity from the hippogriff, fighting against that spicy taste of frustration (and the faintest hint of shame) from the dragon beside her.

“Hi Celly, Smolder! Are you two heading out?”

The changeling nodded. “Yep. Just the two of us.”

“Ooh, girl’s night! Or, girl’s afternoon. Whatcha gonna do?” Her bright, innocent smile was infectious, and Ocellus found her own lips curling up. She stayed silent, however, unwilling to tell her friend where she was going with the dragon.

Fortunately for her, Smolder had had years of hiding her secret interest. Unfortunately for her, Smolder was Smolder. “We’re going to set a new record for longest two-creature lesbian makeout session. Do you want to come?”

The sarcasm flew straight over the hippogriff’s head, and her enthusiastic nodding only abated when Smolder’s deadpan expression and admission that she had just been messing with her sunk in. With a promise to have a good time given, the pair strode out of the building, before making their way through the meandering, misleading path to a secret spot in the woods.

Ocellus and Smolder walked up to the large, flat stump in the middle of the forest clearing and set about setting up. From Smolder’s pack came a white tablecloth, fringed with lace. From Ocellus’s, a teapot, two saucers, and two teacups. The makeup came out next, and finally, the dresses. Smolder slipped hers on with an ease that came from far more practice than she would ever admit. As for the changeling...

“So, myself or Professor Rarity? She has the accent and mannerisms for it.” Ocellus held two dresses aloft in her teal magic, looking between them.

“Hmm... Probably not Rarity, but...” Smolder’s off-center stance and stroking of her chin were a stark contrast to the frilly, pale pink dress she wore as she thought, “I think, maybe... Oh! Could you do Gallus? I bet he’d look ADORABLE in a dress!”

That drew a grin and a giggle from the changeling. A wave of fire washed over her form, and in the next moment, a pair of yellow eagle claws caught the two floating dresses before they could hit the ground. ‘Gallus’ handed one to Smolder to fold and return to Ocellus’s bag, and the griffon set about fitting into the other one. After a little difficulty, getting stuck twice, and ultimately asking Smolder for help with the wings, ‘Gallus’ was proudly sporting a pale yellow dress. “Well? How do I look?” ‘he’ asked the dragoness.

“Heh. Actually, not bad. The next time we play Truth or Dare with the boys, I think I’ve got a good idea.” Smolder leaned to one side, then the other, taking in the griffon’s form. “But, I think you’re missing something very important.”

The grinning dragon held up a couple of the makeup implements before setting them down. The pair of friends spent some time matching blush to their scales and feathers, picking out the right lipstick - or beakstick, as it were - painting each other’s claws, and otherwise gussying themselves and each other up until they both looked like slightly exaggerated versions of the fanciest fancy bourgeoisie to be found in Canterlot - nay, all of Equestria.

Smolder cleared her throat. “Now then, Madam Gallus, shall we?” she prompted in a Received Equestrian accent, “it would be a terrible shame to come all the way here for some tea, and to then forget the beverage in entirety!”

‘Gallus’ gave a proper curtsey, then stepped up to the stump. ‘He’ picked up the teapot in one hand, held the lid on with the other, and gracefully tipped it over, pouring a cup for Smolder, and then a cup for ‘himself.’ With two steaming cups of tea properly set on their saucers, the well-dressed duo took their seats. ‘Gallus’ added two sugar cubes to the cup in front of ‘him;’ Smolder added only one. Keeping their pinky claws extended, they lifted their cups and politely toasted their friendship. 

Hidden away in the calm, peaceful grove, the disguised changeling and her dragon friend traded light gossip, homework tips, and compliments. Their table manners would put several Canterlot nobles to shame, and over time, the level of tea in the teapot declined. The pair were in the middle of discussing which creature in their friends group had the shapeliest rear when Sandbar wandered into the clearing and promptly did a double-take.

The three of them stared at each other for a minute, before ‘Gallus’ finally spoke up, “we... lost a bet to Ocellus. Why she has these dresses, I haven’t the foggiest, but she’s, uh...” the griffon turned his head to look around, “well, she’s one of these branches around, to make sure we keep the deal.”

Smolder’s look of shock faded as her friend spun the tale. “Yeah, but look. This whole thing? Never happened. You’re gonna leave, and next time we see each other, it’s like we weren’t even here, even if you ask. Right, Gallus?”

‘Gallus’ nodded. “Yeah, you’re actually lucky I’m not denying this right now. Anyway, we’ve got, like, another teacup to finish before this is over. See you back at school.”

Content with their answer, the pony silently nodded and walked back off through the forest. Once they were sure he was out of sight and hearing, both of the well-dressed creatures let out a big sigh of relief. Their secret was safe. And they still had some tea left to talk over.

Busy fingers flew against the keys of her laptop as Cariedee attempted to condense everything she had been feeling in response to the week’s events within Vasquez’s six-page minimum requirement. The rest of the week may have gone by as seemingly normal as any other week, but a part of her knew she could feel a shift that was barely there, but present enough for her to perceive.

Beau had seemed...different. She was sure no one else had noticed it, as it was anything but obvious, but she could feel it when she had stopped by the clubhouse a few days after the bake sale fiasco to return a book she had borrowed from Nathan.

When she first crossed the threshold she could almost feel the tension when he looked at her before his expression melted into a smile that didn’t seem to reach his eyes and he greeted her with the same kindness he always had. For a split second, however, the mask had slipped. She figured that maybe it was just her paranoia, but another part of her wondered if Nathan had been careless enough to mention her by name when he spoke to Beau about the incident.

If that had been the case, she wasn’t sure what to expect in the upcoming weeks.

She only remembered that Kaitlyn had been lounging on the couch next to her scrolling through social media on her phone when she could feel her shift and allow her arm to hang over the cushions.

“Did you know Kassidy plays drums in a band?” She asked, her brown eyes peering over the top of her phone to look at Cariedee, who was so intently focused on putting the finishing touches on her final paragraph that she hadn’t looked up to meet her gaze.

“No. She never mentioned it,” she responded.

“Maybe she likes me better than you,” Kaitlyn teased, and Cariedee couldn’t help but roll her eyes playfully in response. “I guess we’ll find out when we all play Truth or Truth later.”

The name of the infamous game was what finally caught her full attention, and Cariedee finally closed her laptop and turned to look at her roommate full on.

“We are not playing Truth or Truth with the Alphas. They’re just coming over for drinks.”

“Suite rules state that in order to be fully initiated into our group of friends, you need to survive a game of Truth or Truth on the rooftop.”

“I’m pretty sure you just made that up right now.”

“Maybe so,” she shrugged playfully and gave her roommate’s shoulder a gentle shake. “Come on, Cariedee! It’ll be fun a fun way for everyone to get to know each other.”

Cariedee glanced back down at the closed laptop still resting in her lap. Maybe Kaitlyn was right. And even if it were to take an unexpected turn, she figured it would at least make for an interesting piece to write for Vasquez.

With slight hesitation, she finally straightened up her posture and set her laptop down on the coffee table.

“Fine,” she agreed with little reluctance. “But please just...don’t mention Chris.”

If Cariedee wasn’t positive that something was amiss between her and Beau before, the awkward inkling of tension she could feel as they settled in on the rooftop waiting for Kaitlyn to finish pouring drinks confirmed it. He had been uncharacteristically quiet since the Alphas had arrived at the suite, and – while she wasn’t one hundred percent sure of it – she could swear she caught him casting a less-than-friendly glance or two in her direction while she and Kassidy talked about her band.

She knew she had to get Nathan alone. It was the only way she would be able to ask what he could have said that would result in Beau being so pissed off at her. She briefly wondered if maybe it didn’t have anything to do with Nathan at all, but after their conversation during breakfast and Nathan confirming that he would talk to Beau about what had transpired at the bake sale, she had a feeling she knew exactly what it was.

“I’ve got the drinks!” Kaitlyn’s cheerful voice broke her near trance. “I present to all of you the finest wine available on a college student’s budget.”

When she handed Beau his drink he peered into the red solo cup warily before taking a sniff of the pungent deep red liquid.

“Is this botrytized?” He tried.

“If that means ‘cheapest bottle they had’ then yes,” Kaitlyn shrugged her shoulders and handed the last cup she could manage to carry over to Zack. “Sorry if it isn’t up to Alpha Theta Mu standards.”

“I don’t think this is up to anyone’s standards,” Zack commented with a wince. “It smells like someone put a shot of grape juice into a bottle of vinegar.”

“The wine’s fine, Kaitlyn,” Nathan assured her with a friendly smile. “Do you want me to get the rest of the cups for you?”

“No...that’s fine I-” she stopped and let her words trail off when she saw the look that Cariedee was shooting her way. “Actually...yeah...that’d be a big help.”

“I’ll go with you,” Cariedee eagerly volunteered, springing up from her seat on one of the couches.

This may have been her only chance to talk to him about the Beau situation – she figured – and she knew she needed to take the opportunity. As they made their way downstairs and into the kitchen, Nathan flashed her a playfully charming smile over his shoulder.

“I’m not sure how much help I’m going to need carrying two glasses of wine,” he told her. “Not that I’m objecting to the company.”

“I actually wanted to ask you something.”

He looked mildly surprised by the confession, and he paused and turned to face her before he could gather the last two cups resting on the counter.

“Ask away.”

“Did you say something to Beau? About me?”

His eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and he studied the look on her face for a few long seconds before responding.

“I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking,” he admitted.

“When you talked to Beau about...you know...” she paused and gestured vaguely with her hands. “You didn’t mention my name did you?”

“Not that I recall,” he responded. “Why?”

“You don’t think he’s been acting sort of weird around me?”

“If he is I haven’t noticed.”

She sighed, although it wasn’t particularly directed at him. In all honesty, she almost couldn’t tell whether it was a sigh of relief that Nathan hadn’t seemed to notice anything weird, or frustration with the fact that she couldn’t seem to get a straight answer. Either way, he elaborated before she could figure it out.

“If you feel like he’s being unpredictable I wouldn’t look too far into it,” he reassured her. “That’s just Beau.”

“Promise?” She asked. It was more of a formality than anything significant. She smiled when she realized and he smiled back, handing one of the two cups to her and wrapping his now free arm around her shoulder.

“Haven’t you realized by now that I wouldn’t even consider telling you anything that wasn’t laced with my most expert and sincere advice?”

She couldn’t help but laugh and roll her eyes playfully at the theatrics.

“How silly of me to question your motives,” she teased.

He smiled and gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze as they made their way back up to the rooftop. While they were still out of earshot of the rest of the group, he leaned down to whisper to her, his breath warm against her ear when he did.

“I’m sure you’ll find a way to make it up to me somehow.”

The blush that touched her cheeks was impossible to hide. She tried, however, as the two of them made their way back to the couches and waited for everyone to get settled in with their drinks.

A few more moments of mindless small talk passed before Kaitlyn finally stood up and dramatically cleared her throat to draw the group’s attention.

“I think what this situation calls for is a good, old-fashioned game of Truth or Truth,” she declared.

Zack and Abbie groaned audibly, clearly having not been aware of the night’s plans, while the three newcomers exchanged curious glances before looking back to her.

“What the hell is Truth or Truth?” Beau asked. “We’re more of a Two Truths and a Lie kind of crowd.”

“Truth or Truth is at least one hundred times better than Two Truths and a Lie,” Kaitlyn assured him. “It’s easy. It’s Truth or Dare without the dares. You can either tell the truth or you can drink.”

“Wait,” Beau held up his hand to stop everyone before they could start the game. “What if you lie?”

Kaitlyn seemed unprepared for the question, and she looked around at the rest of the group for silent advice before responding.

“I mean...that’s not really part of the game.”

“So nothing? No penalty shot? Just lie all you want?”

“For the love of God, Beau, can we just play the game?” Kassidy asked with an exasperated sigh.

“Fine, fine,” he held up his hands in a playfully silent surrender. “Just know I’m an expert liar. Who knows if I’m actually telling the truth? Right, Cariedee?”

Cariedee blinked in surprise, and she could suddenly feel everyone’s eyes on her. When she looked over at Nathan, he looked almost as surprised by the comment as she knew she did.

Maybe – she thought – it was just a normal, playful comment. She wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially taking into consideration what Nathan had told her only a couple of minutes prior. She searched her mind for a playful response...something that would make it clear to everyone that she and Beau were just two friends having fun and teasing one another...but before she could think of anything appropriate for the situation, she found that she was distracted by the sound of someone else approaching the rooftop.

“What kind of second-rate drinking game is going on here?”

Though she didn’t hear it often, Cariedee could easily pick Becca’s condescending tone out of a crowd, and her body tensed up without warning at the sound of it. She looked over to find her standing next to one of the couches with Chris close behind.

“Although I guess the biggest shock of the night is seeing you three hanging out somewhere so...quaint,” she continued, gesturing vaguely towards Nathan, Beau, and Kassidy. When none of the three of them gave her the response she had clearly been searching for, she flopped down onto one of the couches next to Abbie. “What we should be doing is playing Never Have I Ever.”

“What the hell do you mean we?” Abbie asked, her eyes narrowing and her eyebrows creasing when she looked over at the blonde next to her. “Last I remember, no one invited you.”

“Chris invited me...obviously.”

“Last I remember no one invited Chris either.”

The silence that followed Abbie’s harsh statement hung awkwardly over the group, and Chris’s smile faltered just a little.

“Oh...” he stuttered, but quickly recovered. “We can go then.”

“No, no. Stay,” Beau insisted, flashing a look filled with disdain towards Becca. “I’d love to play Never Have I Ever with the Queen of the Kappas herself.”

Chris chuckled awkwardly when he took his seat next to Becca, and another tense silence fell over the rooftop. After what felt like an agonizingly long time, Zack finally cleared his throat and spoke in an attempt to break through it.

“Okay...how about I start?” He tried. No one responded. “Alright...cool. So...never have I ever...had blonde hair.”

Becca rolled her eyes and took a sip of the beer in her hand, and Nathan playfully tapped the top of his red solo cup against Cariedee’s with a smile before they both took a sip. Even with Nathan’s friendly gesture, however, the mood on the rooftop was still effectively dead. No one spoke. No one laughed or cracked a joke in response. Everyone simply waited for Kaitlyn to go next.

“Never have I ever,” Kaitlyn took a thoughtful pause, “been involved in Greek life.”

All three members of Alpha Theta Mu easily took a sip of their respective drinks. Becca, however, let out a long huff and spoke up in protest.

“It’s so obvious what you guys are doing,” she seethed. “How about it’s my turn then?”

“Actually it’s Kassidy’s-”

Becca ignored the protest and continued.

“Never have I ever had a huge unrequited crush on a Hartfeld quarterback. Drink up, Cariedee.”

“I’m not drinking to that because it’s not true,” Cariedee scoffed in response.

“Then how about these?” She tried again. “Never have I ever walked around with coffee stains on my clothes. Or never have I ever hooked up with two of the guys sitting with us on this rooftop within the span of two weeks.”

A splash of wine and the sound of cheap plastic against the ground stopped her before she could continue, and everyone’s head turned to look at Cariedee when they noticed that she had tossed her still full cup of wine onto the ground in front of her and stood up abruptly.

“Screw this. I’m done playing,,” she declared, ignoring the red heat that crept up her neck as she stormed away.

Her hands trembled as she made her way back down into the suite, and she blinked back hot tears of frustration. She knew it was stupid to allow Becca to get under her skin like that, but she couldn’t control it. If her getting angry about being humiliated not only in front of Nathan, but in front of all of their friends, meant that Becca had won, then she would resentfully give her the victory.

With a frustrated sigh, she went into the bathroom and closed the door behind her. She clicked the lock into place, leaning against the sink and leaning forward to look at her own reflection. Why the hell did Becca hate her so much?

“Hey,” The familiar voice was followed by a soft knock on the door. “It’s Nathan.”

She hesitated, but ultimately decided to unlock it, opening the door just enough to see his face. He smiled weakly and almost apologetically, but somehow she could still feel the warmth behind it.

“That was certainly an interesting turn of events,” he tried.

With a sigh, she opened the door enough to let him in before quickly closing it behind them.

“I wish I could say ‘I can explain’ about what Becca said up there,” Cariedee started with a sigh. “But I can’t. It really was just a stupid...” she paused and shook her head. “It was before you and I met and...I just don’t want this to mess anything up because I like you...and I know there’s something here...with us I mean...”

She let her voice trail off, and she could feel her chest tighten in response to her own confession. It hadn’t been her intention to say nearly everything she had been feeling for the past three or so weeks, but it was too late to retract.

“Cariedee,” he chuckled, and his hands were cold against her skin when they brushed against her arms. “I don’t care what happened between you and Chris.”

“You don’t?”

“Not in the slightest. We’ve all had our share of regrettable hookups,” he laughed lightly, and she cracked a smile as well.

“Plus we’re not even a couple,” she tried.

“That too,” he paused and smiled fondly at her. “Although...perhaps I wouldn’t mind us changing that someday. Believe it or not I like you too.”

An unmistakable pink flushed his cheeks after the words came spilling out, and she laughed gently.

“Maybe we could just start with a kiss and see where things go from there,” she suggested.

He didn’t respond verbally. Instead, he just smiled again, cupped her cheeks between his chilled hands, and lowered his lips to hers. The soft sigh she let out against his lips was an audible release of everything she had been feeling – relief, comfort, longing – and she shivered when his hands moved to her waist to pull her closer.

His lips parted from hers just briefly. She was sure their absence would have had hers feeling cold had his whispered words not touched them just a second later.

“You don’t know how long I’ve been thinking about this,” he confessed.

She laughed softly and wrapped her arms around his neck, letting her fingers run through his soft blonde hair.

“Less talking, more kissing,” she teased.

Their lips reconnected in a searing kiss. An outpouring of every pent up feeling.  But before things could escalate, a knock on the door pulled them both out of the moment.

“Hey...Cariedee...Becca left. Can we talk?”

Chris’s voice caused her stomach to drop, and she untangled herself from Nathan in order to open the door.

“Cari–oh,” Chris stopped short when he saw that she wasn’t alone behind the bathroom door. I was hungry.” He takes the stuffed bonnok leaf that Jhen offers, leaning back against the railing before he peels back the foil and takes a bite. His gaze turns skyward, and he munches thoughtfully through the stuffing, fronds waving agitatedly.

naomi nodded, the room going quiet except for the faint sound of the party that was going on downstairs. however as lana pointed out another sound, naomi's ears perked up as she tried to pinpoint where it was coming from. "i think it's coming from the closet." her voice dropped to a whisper, looking at lana then to the closet that was in front of them. she took a step forward and rested her hand on the handle for the closet it door, sliding it open and looking inside. 'oh... lana?' she called out, turning back to look at her.

lana walked closer to naomi and slowly but surely, they were side by side. at first, lana imagined it could have been someone sitting in the closet; either listening to their conversation or planning to jump out and scare them. whatever it was, she was ready to tell them off. however, when she finally peeked in to see what naomi was motioning towards, lana paused. it wasn’t a person, rather just an old watch placed on the otherwise neat carpeted floor. “what the hell?” she never took her eyes off of it, “is it going to explode? the way elijah did when he made it onto the team or what?”

naomi glared at lana after hearing the elijah comment. "not now, lan." she bent down, fingers wrapping themselves around the watch before having it in her palm. "it just looks like a regular watch." she mumbled, turning it around and inspecting it, finding nothing. "here," she handed it over to lana. "i guess you found the thing you were going to steal."
