Anyway per last reblog I was idk 7 or 8? when my mom made me choose a poem and memorize to recite in front of the entire family. And I am probably going to force that on Sweet Bean too even though I hated it at the time. But I also thought it would be neat if there was a poem he knew by heart instinctively, without even remembering when he'd learned it.

as a dr fan we need to acknowledge that some of the danganronpa characters suffer through chronic liners for bad humor by out-of-touch old guy writers syndrome
#glaring at himiko yumeno. kaede akamatsu. sonia nevermind. akane owari....#uhmmm if anyone wants me to explain i can i dont think i can organize my thoughts in tags rn... maybe later ugnnnn#drv3#danganronpa#Okay fine here are my thoughts#“chronic liners for bad humor by out-of-touch old guy writers syndrome” is a simplified term for this phenomenon where writers#give characters lines not to reveal their characters but to please the audience in distasteful ways for the sake of being ''funny''#(uh maybe i should like... do an actual proper text reblog for this because its hard typing this shit in tags but)#i feel like a huge example of this is kaede's comments towards tsumugi to the point shuich says shes an ''old creep''#although these comments *could* be an extension of her trait for pushing people too far (ex: the tunnel shit)#the comments actually dont. instead they are treated very unserious. in a way they feel so... vague and light#to the point that it appears that those comments *arent* trying to reveal anything about her character#especially since that trait is more specific than quite broad#i get people being uncomfortable with those comments (i am too) but they feel like a terrible#''writers talking through their characters for people to be more engaged with the media in a quirky relatable way'' than anything else#like ''writers are trying to appeal to the audience humor/desires and reach the audience's culture to the point of being out of touch"#so THATS the reason that i feel like it will be weird to shit on ''kaede defenders'' for the comments cuz they're just so..#detached from her character that people hardly take that as genuinely being apart of her character#and if it is genuinely apart of her character then its only as a way to keep people engaged with the story and character#it hardly adds anything meaningful to her character#fuck me these tags are long but onto himiko: most things ive said about kaede's comments apply to himiko's weird#fucking racism comments (ex: the afro comment that genuinely made me a little upset)#but to add onto that. himiko plays into a very specific trope that is ''lo1i girl'' and often that trope comes with quirky and “funny” trai#they're supposed to be so palatable and marketable to the audience and apart of the charm is how ''funny'' they are#the racism comment is way more revealing of the writers than himiko's character itself.. so no himiko is not racist; the writers are.#feeling the need to play into a trope by creating “funny” lines that is basically just fucking racism is just soooo danganronpa#*eyeroll*#and yeah i mentioned the other characters. sonia and akane being a victim of this phenomenon#although this moreso reflects the english translators than the writers of the game...#them randomly speaking in aave (which may i add theyd never do this) for the ''lols'' is a choice..

you seem to have a wide taste in books !! what are some books that you would recommend ??
Hmmm I wonder. I have the feeling I just read the same couple of books over and over, and at times only different iterations of the same story, like in that line by Borges ("the various intonations of a few metaphors").
I find recommending books without knowing anything at all about the person asking rather difficult. What I'd suggest to one may differ greatly from what I'd recommend to someone else. I'll give a list of some of my favourite books that I think are enjoyable in general:
— Thoughts by Pascal
— Cain: a mystery by Lord Byron
— The Iliad by Homer
— Crime and Punishment by Dostoievsky
— Othello by Shakespeare
— Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo
— Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand
— The fragments of the Presocratics
— La Regenta by Leopoldo Alas, Clarín
— Tractatus Logico-philosophicus by Wittgenstein
— East of Eden by John Steinbeck
— Vita nova by Dante
— Contributions to the Founding of the Theory of Transfinite Numbers by Georg Cantor
— Caligula by Albert Camus
— North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
— Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie
— Some essays by Russell. I personally love Mysticism and Logic
— Metamorphoses by Ovid
Poetry is perhaps harder to recommend because at times it translates horribly, but in general I love Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Lorca, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Rilke, Byron, Quevedo, Góngora, Lope de Vega, Horace, Catullus, Ovid, Tennyson, Maiakovsky, Garcilaso de la Vega, Oliverio Girondo, Vicente Huidobro, Emily Brontë, T. S. Eliot, Luis Cernuda and Edgar Allan Poe, to name a few.
#I talk too much#I wanted to say The tragic sense of life by Unamuno and Philosophy and Poetry by María Zambrano#but I thought maybe they'd be hard to find in translation. They're both approachable texts of philosophy beautifully written though#Unamuno's essay Vida de Don Quijote y Sancho (translated as Our Lord Don Quixote in English according to Wikipedia?) is also beautiful#I adore Schopenhauer and Nietzsche but I'm not sure I'd recommend them to anyone. Probably you can't go wrong with Kierkegaard though#I know what some of these books look like (like Wittgenstein's Tractatus or Cantor's Foundations)#but I swear they're approachable without specific academic background. The last line of Wittgenstein's Tractatus is one of my favourite#lines ever in the history of anything‚ philosophy or literature‚ but to be as hitting as it is you need to reach it at the end of the book#I think despite what it looks like both Cantor and especially Wittgenstein have an aesthetic intent in their writing#Wittgenstein in particular reminds me of Kierkegaard and Rilke and also of Unamuno and Zambrano. And of course Schopenhauer et al.#The Tractatus is very similar in my opinion to Huidobro's Altazor which is just amazing but I don't know how it would translate#These books I like in form and not just in content (although form is content like I think happens in Wittgenstein's Tractatus)#so when possible I'd read them in their original languages.I myself can't read German and know but very little of Russian and Ancient Greek#and a bit of Latin so I must be missing a lot of those. Nonetheless they're great in what I can get through translation#Perhaps you'd have the chance of enjoying them in full#If you can't read Russian I am actually quite specific with the translation of Crime and Punishment haha There's a concept#Razumikhin develops through the book at several points and often translators aren't consister with the word which makes the readers lose#the view of this development. And I happen to think the development works alongside the narrative of Svidrigailov#and also with what happens towards the end with Porfiry and Raskolnikov so I think it's important#In English there are several translations that maintain the coherence such as the one by Pevear and Volokhonsky#(the only one I can remember right now but I could check the rest). Garnett's translation is everywhere but that one doesn't do it#Hmmm Pedro Páramo in English takes some liberties and La Regenta isn't as funny which is what happens with Wuthering Heights#and The three musketeers in translation even when the translations are more accurate#I haven't recommended Wuthering Heights because I take you've read it but that's my favourite book#And I haven't recommended Pandora Hearts because that's a manga and you asked for books but it does some very interesting things#that I think are in line with many of the books listed here (as I said‚ I basically like the same few things retold over and over haha)#There are many books I am itching to recommend but that I can't do freely without some knowledge of the person asking#Like Steinbeck's arthurian novel or idk Gone with the wind#I hope this list is enjoyable enough. I'm not sure if I've been able to avoid being too partial#I suppose one has to bear the conditions of their existence and can't ever entirely get rid of themselves haha

How do you think a student should be dealt with if you can tell the student has taken the bare bones of an essay from chatgpt but has made genuine effort to improve that essay and has just used it as a jumping off point regardless of how well or poorly the student did it? would you still consider it unethical? Do you think these cases can even be spotted by a professor? im not making a case for either side of the argument just curious ab your take
Hello !
So I am not an ethics expert, but I would say ethics is a scale. So is it more ethical to take on the bare bones of a ChatGPT essay and work on it, rather than directly submit the AI-generated output ?
I mean... I guess. It's still not very ethical, and potentially academic misconduct, imo.
Would we be able to spot it ?
I don't know. We could probably spot that there is something a bit off about the essay, but that would depend on how much you re-write it.
To me, the overwhelming issue then is less "is it ethical" but "is it a good essay in the end". And the answer is that it's not. You will NOT get a good essay, tailored to your class and the expectations of the grader, out of ChatGPT. No matter how much you re-write and re-formulate everything. A nothing burger is a nothing burger.
The problem of ChatGPT is that it does not give you quality content, complex arguments and coherence throughout that we expect from College-level writing. As long as you start the essay writing process with ChatGPT, you will be stuck here. I would argue that the worse use you can make of ChatGPT is to ask it to outline anything from scratch.
The most productive (and maybe, MAYBE ethical? to be discussed honestly) use of I can see of ChatGPT is the exact reverse: come up with your essay. Do the hard part, the one that the grader wants to see. Come up with the thesis, the structure, the arguments, the examples. Be creative ! Then draft the whole thing. And let ChatGPT be what it is meant to be : a writing tool. Have it reformulate some sentences. Have it have it find a way to better embed your examples. Feed YOUR WORK your ChatGPT, and let it produce a sleek version of YOUR content. Use it like a highly advanced version of Grammarly, or the Word editor.
TL;DR: If you want/need to save time, save time on the writing part. Not on the thinking part. The thinking is what people are for! I don't know how ethical this is, I am not making a case for or against it when you use like this. But at least it's not dumb or respectful of your peers, your grader or your lecturer.
At the end of the day, the more AI can do in term of writing, the more we will be looking for the added value of human input. And the added value IS ideas, thinking, creativity, because AI can never go beyond the content it has been trained on - but YOU can!

Apparently my brain really hates when names have A, U, and R in them, because without fail, every time I go to type Arthur my brain wants to spell it “Aurthur” or perhaps “Aurthr” and every time I go to type Marius my brain wants to type “Mauris” or maybe “Maurius” or maybe “Maurias” its unclear because I *usually* notice my mistake by the end because it’s clear to me those ending are wrong. Brain just really wants “AUR” together.
#if you see me misspell those names. that’s why#also im american so i default to pronouncing marius— hang on let me look up some IPA symbols#i pronounce is with this vowel ‘ɑ’ which is the open back unrounded vowel#where as they seem to pronounce it with the ‘e’ symbol which is an english (or at least am english) long a sound.#they say it like the name mary. like ‘marry us’#reasons english needs either more vowel symbols or accent marks#also i am aware the ipa vowels are fucked up but its still the best ive got because even in the same language there are accents and-#dialects and that makes examples hard. i also learned recently that british and australian english has actual long an short vowels.#i knew american english didnt have strut (inverted v) but i didnt know- i mean i kinda did because i had noticed it but like not fully-#understood it. anyway if youve read this far you should go watch dr geoff lindsey on youtube hes great#to be clear we have ‘long’ and ‘short’ vowel sounds in am english. but ‘long’ and ‘short’ are just names. the actual length that we say-#them is apparently basically the same. at least when compared with br and au english.#dr geoff lindsey *just* published a video about this. re: how br and au eng speakers say ‘two o’clock’ and ‘four o’clock’ as significantly-#different lengths. while am english speakers say them the same length. he also touches on a bunch of other interesting stuff#im not gonna fandom tag this i guess#i think its funny though that its arthur and marius since they are both voiced by the same person#oh also i think all IPA symbols should have special names like eng. schwa. and strut. rather than having to be called shit like ‘open back-#unrounded vowel.’ although i do realize that theres a fuck tonne of ipa symbols. i also think each of the names should have the sound it-#represents in it.#im autistic about pronunciation somehow. arent i supposed to be in the… *other* sciences. how did this happen?

i need a shigadabi where dabi or touya whatever, is tomura's weakness, just let dabi be the damsel in distress pleasemaybe where touya is still a civilian and his life after the coma was that he had to stick with the todorokis but it's very complicated shit because there is no good relationship with his father and there is still comparison with shouto (and all the additional traumas, those never go away) but after a big fight with enji about how the situation is being dealt with after the big confrontation the heroes had with the villains and remarking to enj that it's unfair he leaves home very late and somehow he doesn't know he ends up straying down alleys he doesn't know and out of nowhere he sees a lump on the ground and touya's first instinct is to get out but then the guy on the ground groans in pain and and well touya reacts, then touya has the basic knowledge of wound care on his own but whatever happened to the guy must be more than what touya is used to because he seems to be in agony, he crouches down and tries to get him to sit against the nearest wall they have, that's when he realizes that this man is the same one who has caused catastrophes in just days, then he has shigaraki tomura dying in an alley and touya is the one who actually helps him, the reasons are the least of it, maybe out of simple selfishness towards enji or because he couldn't let someone die who could help, I really don't care and it all goes from there you have a resentful touya keeping tomura alive for some reason and maybe the first reaction when shiggy wakes up is to attack but then you have a pretty face with big blue eyes and he's just a man okay?everything is a blur from that moment on, touya explains that he found him in an alley and he didn't really have a reason to save him so he owes him his life (i'm paraphrasing) then tomura also tells him without being asked why he was in that alley without his people and they never stop talking as if they've known each other all their lives and somehow touya becomes everything to shiggy and tell me if it's not powerful that the same man who brings down cities with a touch is willing to give his life for ONE person to add spice to life, in the end the rumors that there is someone with the fucking tomura shigaraki spread like wildfire and touya is kidnapped and tortured to such an extent that they end up killing him and neither enji nor tomura can do anything to stop it and tomura no longer has anyone to feel sorry for, the world knows no peace since that day.
o o also one after the war where dabi gets pregnant (because there is too much need for more omega dabi fics) (but it's hard for me because i don't like omegaverse fics too much let me)
and then they have a crisis because he thought he couldn't have children but he wants children, that stability of being able to form a family (traumas) he tells tomura and although at the beginning he was also undecided but seeing the happiness of his omega is enough, practically they won the war so everything is fine until dabi is 4 months old, somehow the heroes have tracked them to where they are and there is a raid.
things go wrong very quickly, even though everyone in the league was unharmed they still got it very complicated, they have to escape but dabi tells shiggy that for a moment he looks like he is going to faint then there is blood running down his legs.
obviously this is a big shock, in the few years the two had become so attached to the fetus and then dabi has a miscarriage due to a situation that they don't control but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable. they have a very, very bad time and then they have another raid when shiggy and the others go to look for supplies and only toga and dabi are left and although toga does his best they end up taking dabi with him.
clearly chaos ensues
(as an extra point dabi has a twin pregnancy and only one dies so 😁)
everyone has a hard time here, don't worry

Protestants are mainly Baptist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran. Though there are others in the list, that list does NOT include Mormons. Protestants believe faith alone will give you salvation, something I heard constantly being raised Lutheran, while the LDS/Mormons believe youll only have salvation via 'good deads/work' and their five steps to salvation, similar to catholicism i believe. But yeah, saw your tags on the maps post, thought id answer your question lol i dont know much more than that, i dont practice and never really cared for it. This is just what i remember being told 😂
oh damn thanks thats actually pretty helpful
