Please tell us what you think of the Japanese dub of fire emblem!! Do you have any you like or dislike?
Mercedes’s voice, done by Yumiri Hanamori, is probably my favorite change. I dislike Mercedes’s Eng voice for several reasons but her Japanese dub shoots her up into S tier easy. Super sweet and kinda breathy, she speaks very soothingly and deliberately, I love it and never skip any of her dialogue. Her little giggles give me butterflies, and the way she reacts when you propose to her? I cannot recommend you watch her S support with the Japanese dub enough. It’s very easy to come off inauthentic when the character is as loving and kind as Mercedes, but her performance absolutely sells Mercedes’s angelic nature.
Marianne, voiced by Sawako Hata, goes through a pretty dramatic change pre/post timeskip in the Japanese dub and I live for it. Seriously, listen to the very beginning of her C and A supports with Byleth (same line) and marvel at our favorite horse girl’s growth. I love the shift in her voice and it really shows a lot about how Marianne grows as a person and becomes more confident.
Hubert is played by Katsuyuki Konishi and, yes, I will simp. He just sounds so cool. That va being an intimidating bastard just does it for me even if all the roles I know him for is him singlehandedly holding the entire weight of a character who is otherwise not the coolest. It is a little goofy when you have to strain to hear him when he’s saying battle lines that are supposed to be dramatic but he sounds hot so it’s whatever.
Claude, voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga, is actually pretty similar in both dubs. That is, I feel like it’s the same Claude in both languages which I really enjoy. I think both voice actors did a fantastic job and in my humble opinion do a lot to make Claude as likable and fun as he is when the writing kind of falters. Toyonaga has a really nice voice and does the playful sarcastic yet also guarded and sneaky thing perfectly.
Edelgard is played by Ai Kakuma who dials back on the mean-girl aspect of Edelgard that, for me, makes her kind of insufferable sometimes. It’s strange because I don’t like the “uwu professor I drew you a picture” aspects of Edelgard very much, but they do make a lot more sense with Kakuma’s softer, more vulnerable interpretation of the character. Overall, I do like her dubbed voice better especially when I’m playing Crimson Flower and the game obviously wants me to waifu her.
Seteth is voiced by DIO Takehito Koyasu and that is very important to me. It helps with the “can I trust this man or can’t I?” aspect of the character because of intense JJBA conditioning. He has less stick-up-the-ass dad energy, but I think it’s a fair trade.
Leonie is voiced by Sakura Nogawa and I don’t particularly like Lenoie but can we just acknowledge that she came out on top in both dubs? Both Ratana and Nogawa have such ear candy voices.
Simp King Alefric was voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa and this was an especially low blow. As the resident Disgusting Pervert, I have a pretty instinctual reaction to hearing his voice. I know he does a LOT of different types of roles (hearing him in Monster Hunter Stories was great) but the fact that they cast him as an unfuckable (as well as annoying, pointless, and awful) character just cuts deep.
Yuri, played by Junya Enoki, was just strange imo. When I heard his Japanese dub voice my first reaction was “wow it’s weird they gave Yuri the voice of a shonen protagonist” and then Enoki went on to play the Prince of All Shonen Protagonists Yuuji. And Enoki is super skilled! A lot of his combat lines hit super hard. Buuuuut, it’s hard to not miss the seductive persona that his English dub gives him. Someone asked who I’d ideally recast for Yuri, Felix, and Dimitri (like... months ago... I’m so sorry lol) and I think that Mamoru Miyano doing Yuri would be great. Mamoru Miyano has a massive list of credits, but his most famous is probably Light Yagami from Death Note. He also did Hunter x Hunter’s Chrollo and Persona 5′s Ryuji. Actually, since he did Amai Mask, this would add another One Punch Man voice actor to the list. Admittedly, I’m a cringe fangirl but he's got range for sensual, serious, and goofy and gets bonus points for having a really nice singing voice which Yuri also has. Making Yuri sound more alluring and kind of secretive seems like the obvious choice for his character. I’m in no way, shape, or form in any position to suggest this change but since someone did ask there’s my single suggestion.
Dimitri is played by Kaito Ishikawa and I am not a fan. This is a massive bias because I’ve made my love of his English dub so clear so take it with a boulder sized grain of salt but, Dimitri aside, I don't really like Ishikawa's voice, it has this nasally quality that drives me up the wall which was why I never really liked One Punch Man’s Genos. There are also a lot of performance differences that I feel detract from Dimitri’s character but that is even more subjective because they feel like such different characters. Ishikawa goes for a less manic, wild sound in favor of a more “restrained” interpretation of Dimitri’s feral voice. The Event “Village Tragedy (Blue Lions)” is the scene that showcases this difference perfectly.
Felix’s voice is done by Yuichi Jose and I don’t think it suits him. He has a very low, kinda cool voice and I just... I dunno, it feels contradictory to how I interpret Felix’s character. English dub Felix gets this, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, mall ninja sort of inflection especially early on in the game because he’s trying too hard and I think it’s so damn endearing to hear that harden until you realize that, no, he’s just a broken person putting up a shield to deflect emotion. But it also feels unfair to make direct comparisons when the two voice actors are doing two different things.
Anyway, those are characters I have strong opinions about. Overall, I far prefer the English dub but there are definitely pros and cons to each and it’s fun to listen to both. I have respect for all of the va’s involved with this project because of the sheer amount of lines they recorded and it’s really a matter of opinion as to which voices and interpretation of the character is preferred.

Hallo. This is kinda weird, I suppose. I'm a gnc lesbiam (bio female) but I tend to lean more conservative or at least traditionally liberal. I feel a bit lost in all this. In my head, gender isn't a real thing. It's just a concept to keep women and guys subdued. Simultaneously, I do have certain ideas about government and personal independence. What's difficult is at at the end of the day, idk where I fit. I don't fit with the conservative crowd and I don't fit with radfems. (1/2)
…I want to fit, you understand. I have tried to ignore my beliefs to fit into this libfem ideology, and then I try to fit into this radfem ideology, but I just don't fit anywhere. I don't know how to find a place to belong without sacrificing a piece of myself. Occasionally, I'll connect with conservative LGBs, but they still hold tight to their ideas of "gender." Its just so...disheartening for me. Im.just a bit tired of feeling alone (2/2) Im so sorry to be a whiny little child about this but I've just come off a hunting trip and all the participants were male and they said things like, "I wish me wife were like you." And after a week of this I snapped and said, "That's bullshit, mate. You want your girl bare foot and pregnant like every other arsehole on this trip." I hate these fucking men. Sorry. I'm just drunk and struggling today. I fucking hate men. I guess...I just feel like there's this idea that conservative gender crits aren't "valid." But regardless of our emotions and our political leanings, we should be able to look at "gender" and say, "This is obviously a tool of oppression."
hey! i don’t know if i can give very good advice, but im glad you sent me this. sorry to hear about the hunting trip, i think id die being around those men. i do wonder what you mean when you say you’re conservative leaning, especially when you mentioned “personal independence.” if you mean that you lean libertarian, then i’ll say i know a few other radfems who are libertarian-leaning, to varying degrees of left or center-leaning when it comes to economic beliefs. (i myself skew very leftist but find myself valuing self-sufficiency and the protection of civil liberties more and more recently.) it does seem to me that you’re truly gender critical and not just transgender critical as a lot of conservatives are, in which case i think you can find community among rad-leaning women if you want to. even if you cant find perfectly likeminded women to you, what you need are just good, decent people who approach disagreement with the desire to understand each other. (not often found online)
so it’s fine if you’re not a radfem, although i will say radical feminism is more a lens of analysis (that guides liberatory action) than it is a rigid belief system. it is a leftist ideology, yes, but i think it’s possible to draw and learn from it while analyzing or disagreeing with other aspects, if you want to clarify your beliefs. but if what you really want is to just find other gay people and other women who understand you, you don’t have to fit any group if you’re willing to be challenged sometimes. i might focus on just befriending more gnc lesbians. although i cant give much advice at making those connections since im so bad at it myself. feel free to message me if you want to talk

Okay I’m gonna do the thing and just get my complaints with the show out, if you’re not interested in reading criticisms (half of which are just being attached to the way things were in the book) please ignore this, I’m going to say all sorts of nice things in a minute. Also please don’t rb this one. If we’ve talked before feel free to comment or disagree, if we haven’t please don’t just this once—I’m usually happy to have people jump off things, but I just got back and I’m not in the mood to start any Discussions just now. Cool thanks!
1. I’m not saying that the show going in for more angst and making some of the central characters more insecure and making Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship more tenuous and uncertain was *objectively* the wrong choice. I mean I could argue that it was but ultimately it’s probably more just different than right or wrong. But it did make me realize how much I had appreciated having a fandom that was built around material that for all its angst potential (which I also enjoyed) was so fundamentally cozy.
2. Yes I am of course going to take issue with Anathema and Newt. For the record I found Newt notably more likable in the show than the book, even if watching Anathema have sex with a guy she had shown no interest in just because a book told her to was even more uncomfortable than reading it. And there was more of a sense of mutuality in the show—partly because of Adria Arjona playing Anathema as genuinely liking and being charmed by Newt at times, and partly because Newt actually does offer her emotional support and contributes to decision-making at several points instead of only with the “do you want to be a descendent for the rest of your life” line at the end. And that’s nice—mutuality in a relationship is important! The lack of it is one of my biggest issues with their relationship in the book! What really gets to me here is that they got to that mutuality not through strengthening Newt’s character but by weakening Anathema’s—by making her more uncertain and insecure so that Newt could sweep in to support her. And look—obviously there’s nothing wrong with female characters having insecurities and needing support, like everyone does. But we’ve got an awful shortage of weird-looking female characters who swagger around with breadknives and bucketloads of well-earned confidence and decide to try and stop the apocalypse without being told because it’s worth a shot, and the fact that they seem to have undercut her confidence and independence specifically so that she would have to lean on the sub-par dude she’s saddled with as a love-interest reeeally rubs me the wrong way. (Shoutout to my brother for pinpointing this before I was able figure out exactly what was bothering me).
3. Okay and while I’m on the topic of Anathema, the way they played up the whole ‘professional descendent’ thing? Hmmmm, not a fan. I think I kinda get why they did it, (it makes her fit more neatly into the ‘people breaking out of their prescribed roles’ theme), but they make it into a sort of ‘chosen one’ storyline where she was ‘fated’ to help stop the end of the world, which is fine, I guess? But to me one of the central appeals of the book is a motley crew motivated not by duty or predestination but instead by love of the earth and plain old selfish, stubborn attachment to the lives they had built there going ‘okay realistically there is no way we, of all people, can keep the world from ending, but I guess we’re just gonna try anyway!!!’ Making Anathema some sort of prophesied savior sort of removed her from that narrative, and reduced the strength of that narrative thread overall.
4. Oh and I think I’m in the minority here but I also did not enjoy the kids getting stabby with the horsepeople. There were some great elements to the scene for sure, but that just didn’t feel good to me. The children felt a little more ... protected from enacting that kind of violence in the book, and while there could be legitimate reason for changing it, on a thematic level it also took attention away from the whole ‘power of human belief’ thing, so it felt unnecessary and weaker as well as harsher.
5. I’m not ... actually particularly bothered by any of the changes to Aziraphale? I mean don’t get me wrong I do miss him being a much more overt bastard who is comfortable in his own skin, who collects blasphemous Bibles and is rude to  customers and still walks around with his sanctimonious Holier Than Thou convictions because he is THE WORST. But tv Aziraphale is still a proper bastard, even if you’ve got to pay attention a bit more to see it, and I do rather like the way his softness is in itself framed as a rebellion against Heaven. So yeah, I think the changes they made worked and were compelling, and I don’t really have comprehensive complaints about his character. HOWEVER I did not like him indirectly killing the executioner. Having a scene where he indirectly but intentionally causes a death was a good idea in concept, but to my mind it was the wrong circumstances, wrong target, and wrong tone for the scene. Still, it doesn’t bother me that much because it just felt SO off that it feels kinda laughable and my mind just cheerily decided that the filmmakers were misinformed and that did not actually happen.
6. Crowley’s changes I’m having a bit of a harder time reconciling myself to, although I’m having a bit of a hard time pinpointing why? Some of the changes are of the ‘I don’t prefer the change but that’s more personal preference and attachment to my initial vision of the character than critique’ variety, like the ways in which his fear manifests less as anxiety and more as anger in the show. But if I had one central complaint (and this might sound weird at first) I think it would be the way that his world is reduced to Aziraphale. And okay, let me explain—I’m not complaining that their relationship was more emphasized in the show, which I actually loved, and also this is probably a bit hypocritical coming from me when 80% of my posts are about their relationship. The thing is, I find romances more interesting and compelling and moving when both parties have defined personalities and interests and attachments and character arcs outside of one another. And Aziraphale did have that—arguably he has a more defined and complete arc than in the book, in fact. And Crowley definitely has a defined personality. But besides the Bently, what does he love? What are his interests? How does he feel about humanity and the earth? Why does he prefer the earth to hell beyond ‘hell sucks’? How does he feel about his fellow demons? Why does he want to save the earth? Does he care about saving the earth, or is it really only about saving and being with Aziraphale? Idk, I’m exaggerating a bit here, and certain answers to these questions can definitely  be inferred. But I miss the Crowley who loves humanity in all its mess, who finds in it an alternative to the restrictive roles demanded by heaven and hell alike, and who has his own arc of going from knowing that he is harming humanity but not doing anything about it, to facing Satan with a tire iron because Aziraphale convinces him to face up to the harm he has caused and do something about it, even if the odds are impossible.
7. I cannot BELIEVE they took out Tim.
8. And I’m running out of steam here so I’m not fully going into it, but it did feel like the show lost a bit of its sense of the earth in all its disastrous glory. I mean, there are plenty of stories that compare Heaven and Hell, but part of what set Good Omens apart for me was the particular way it triangulates Heaven vs Hell vs earth. I haven’t read enough similar fiction to know if it does this in an especially complex or unique way, but what comes of it is this gloriously defiant optimism. The show goes further into Heaven vs Hell (which I enjoyed) but it felt to me as if the earth was a little (although certainly not entirely) lost in the mix.
9. Also definitely not a fan on how hard Crowley pushes for child murder as long as he’s not the one doing it, but so far as I’ve seen the fandom has chosen to collectively forget those lines in favor of ‘you can’t kill kids,’ ‘I’m not personally up for killing kids,’ and THE LULLABY, so I’m the end those lines aren’t anything like the disaster they could have been. Good going, folks.
10. There are of course big-picture things like racism and sexism and homophobia that are. there in varying degrees. Not necessarily more than average, though that’s an even more depressing sentence. But for some of those things I’m not the best person to dissect them, and for the rest I’m tired and I don’t wanna.
11. In conclusion I have a pithy line that encapsulates what I’m having a hard time adjusting to in the show, but I’m pretty sure the first clause would annoy one half of the fandom, and the second clause would annoy the other half, so I’m gonna to cut my losses and shut up now.

Aziz? redemption ?
AZIZ DIDN’T FUCKING DO ANY GOD DAMN THING WRONG!!!!!!
God, I love being white,” said Louis C.K.
“Here’s how great it is to be white,” the comedian went on: “I could get in a time machine, and go to any time, and it would be fucking awesome when I get there. That is exclusively a white privilege.”
The bit, part of his 2008 special Chewed Up, was emblematic of C.K.’s approach: poking fun at the inequalities of American society, while simultaneously acknowledging the ways they benefited him.
Contrast that with a set he performed in December 2018, a little over a year after he admitted to masturbating in front of women without their consent. During the December appearance, apparently at a comedy club on Long Island, C.K. joked that Asian men are “all women” and poked fun at school shooting survivors and gender-nonconforming teenagers, according to BuzzFeed News.
“They tell you what to call them,” he complained of teens who use the pronouns they/them. “Oh, OK. You should address me as ‘there’ because I identify as a location. And the location is your mother’s cunt.”
Imagine thinking the best way to resurrect your career after admitting to sexual misconduct is to mock trans people and Parkland gun violence survivors.
2018, during which his standup special and the wide release of his film I Love You, Daddy were canceled, seems to have wrought a change in C.K. Where once his comedy offered a fresh look at established power structures, he now seems set on ranting about kids today and their pronoun choices.
Fellow comedian Aziz Ansari has followed a similar trajectory. He once decried sexual harassment in his act — and addressed the issue in a nuanced way on his show Master of None. But in 2017, a woman told the website Babe.net that he had pressured her for sex — Ansari said he had believed everything that happened between them was “completely consensual,” and that he was “surprised and concerned” by her account.
After the incident, his comedy took on a different tone: In a fall 2018 appearance, he made fun of online debates about cultural appropriation and complained that nowadays, “everyone weighs in on everything,” according to the New Yorker.
The bigotry in C.K.’s set is disturbing, especially coming from someone who seemed at one time to have a relatively clear understanding of how power works in America. But what is also striking about C.K. and Ansari’s post-#MeToo material is its banality. Before they were publicly accused, these men wrestled with thorny questions of identity and power in ways that, while not always satisfying, were usually thought-provoking. After the allegations, they began parroting tired complaints about political correctness.
Of the many people accused of sexual misconduct as part of the #MeToo movement, C.K. and Ansari seemed like they might be uniquely equipped to reckon with the allegations against them, perhaps even adding something to the public conversation around #MeToo. Instead, they have retreated into boring and offensive stereotypes, perhaps playing to those who never thought they did anything wrong.
We’re all worse off for their decision, missing out on the art C.K. and Ansari might have created if they’d been willing to really face their accusations, and robbed of the opportunity to see two intelligent and thoughtful men really wrestle with the implications of #MeToo. In a time when more and more of the accused mull their comebacks, it’s natural to wonder what real redemption — complete with an acknowledgment of harm and a commitment to atonement — might look like. Apparently, Louis C.K. and Aziz Ansari will not be the ones to show us.
Louis C.K. used to talk about violence against women. Now he makes fun of genderqueer teens.
Before #MeToo, Louis C.K. was beloved by many for his often self-lacerating comedy. In his standup and on the autobiographical FX show Louie, he portrayed himself as a sad-sack weirdo disturbed by his own sexual urges — he once called himself a “prisoner” of “sexual perversion.”
C.K.’s work could be offensive, as when he complained that he missed being able to use a homophobic slur (and claimed, unconvincingly, that the way he used it had nothing to do with homophobia). But some hailed his comedy as feminist, and he showed a remarkable ability to mine humor from the dangers and biases women face — a difficult feat for a male comic.
“How do women still go out with guys when you consider that there is no greater threat to women than men?” he asked in a 2013 special. “We’re the number one threat to women! Globally and historically, we’re the number one cause of injury and mayhem to women.”
But C.K. was also the subject of long-simmering sexual misconduct rumors — and in November 2017, four women told the New York Times that he had masturbated in front of them or asked them to watch him masturbate (a fifth said that he masturbated while on a phone call with her).
In a move that remains unusual among men accused as part of #MeToo, C.K. admitted to the allegations against him. “These stories are true,” he said in a statement to the New York Times.
“I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want,” he added. “I will now step back and take a long time to listen.”
But as many have pointed out, the listening didn’t last very long. C.K. was back onstage in September 2018, less than a year after his pledge to step back. In an October appearance at the West Side Comedy Club in New York, he addressed the fallout from his sexual misconduct revelations, saying he’d been to “hell and back” and that he’d “lost $35 million in an hour.”
While many were critical of C.K.’s comeback attempt, West Side Comedy Club host AMarie Castillo told the comedy website LaughSpin that the comic “was so genuine and reflected on how weird his year was” in his October appearance. “Sounds to me he is owning up, acknowledging, and trying to figure it out,” she said.
But in a December set, he didn’t sound much like someone trying to figure anything out. In audio posted on YouTube, apparently from an appearance at the Governor’s Comedy Club on Long Island on December 16, C.K. poked fun at gender-nonconforming youth, Parkland school shooting survivors, and Asian men, among other groups. (The club was unable to confirm to BuzzFeed that C.K. was there that night, though multiple people posted on Instagram that they had seen him perform there.)
“You know why Asian guys have small dicks,” he said at one point, according to Patrick Smith and Amber Jamieson of BuzzFeed. “’Cause they’re women. They’re not dudes. They’re all women. All Asians are women.”
C.K. also said he thought it was ridiculous that the term “retarded” was now viewed as inappropriate, Smith and Jamieson reported. When some listeners appeared shocked, he responded, “Fuck it, what are you going to take away, my birthday? My life is over, I don’t give a shit.”
C.K. has not responded to a request for comment from Vox.
Aziz Ansari once included a sexual harassment storyline on his show. Now he’s complaining about Twitter outrage.
Ansari’s comedy has always been more lighthearted than C.K.’s, but he hasn’t shied away from difficult topics. In a 2015 Netflix special filmed at New York’s Madison Square Garden, he asked women in the audience to raise their hands if they’d ever been followed by a “creepy dude,” according to Eren Orbey at the New Yorker.
“Yeah, that’s way too many people,” he said when hands went up. “That should not be happening.”
The second season of his Netflix show, Master of None, also included a storyline about sexual misconduct. Ansari’s character, Dev, teams up with celebrity chef Jeff Pastore (Bobby Cannavale) for a show called Best Food Friends. But Dev is forced to make a choice when a female crew member reveals that Chef Jeff repeatedly harassed her. The episode, which aired before #MeToo gained steam in fall 2017, felt true to life, as Isha Aran pointed out at Splinter, “from the fears victims face in going public to the misogynist skepticism they’re met with when they share their stories.”
But in January 2018, a woman going by the name Grace told the website Babe.net that Ansari had repeatedly pressured her for sex while the two were on a date. She called it “by far the worst experience with a man I’ve ever had.”
“We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual,” Ansari said in a statement on the allegations last January. “The next day, I got a text from her saying that although ‘it may have seemed okay,’ upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned.”
“I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture,” Ansari concluded, presumably referring to #MeToo. “It is necessary and long overdue.”
By fall 2018, however, his tone sounded different. In a Connecticut stop on his “Working Out New Material” comeback tour, he complained about Twitter users debating whether a teenager’s prom dress constituted cultural appropriation, according to Orbey.
“Everyone weighs in on everything,” he said. “They don’t know anything. People don’t wanna just say, ‘I don’t know.’”
He also decried “the destructive performativity of Internet activism and the fickle, ever-changing standards of political correctness,” according to Orbey. He compared left-wing Twitter users to Trump supporters (“at least with the Trump people,” he said, “I kinda know where they stand”) and accused them of competing with one another in a game of “Progressive Candy Crush.”
“One might have hoped that, nearly a year later, [Ansari] could find a way to reckon with one of the movement’s messiest lessons: that even men who wish to serve as allies of women can, intentionally or not, hurt them in private,” Orbey wrote. “Instead, like other men who have reëmerged in recent months, he seems to have channelled his experience into a diffuse bitterness.”
Ansari has not responded to Vox’s request for comment.
If C.K. and Ansari can’t reckon with the allegations against them, can anyone?
Allegations of sexual misconduct against C.K. and Ansari hit fans hard in part because of the thoughtful nature of their comedy — these were supposed to be the good guys.
The accusations prompted fans and critics to reevaluate both men’s work. At Splinter, Aran notes that despite its sexual harassment storyline, Master of None’s second season displays some underlying misogyny. Dev’s relationship with love interest Francesca, in particular, sends the message “that a woman’s initial reluctance can be chipped away at, that indifference is a wall to be torn down.”
C.K., meanwhile, had been telling masturbation jokes for years. As Melena Ryzik, Cara Buckley, and Jodi Kantor reported at the New York Times, “he rose to fame in part by appearing to be candid about his flaws and sexual hang-ups, discussing and miming masturbation extensively in his act — an exaggerated riff that some of the women feel may have served as a cover for real misconduct.” His film I Love You, Daddy, which was initially scheduled for release in November 2017, dealt with a relationship between a famous filmmaker and a 17-year-old girl.
And C.K.’s December set does recall some of his earlier work — the man who complained about teens today and their pronouns is clearly the same one, for instance, who expressed nostalgia for a time when he could use homophobic slurs without being criticized.
Still, C.K. and Ansari were somewhat unusual as male entertainers willing to delve into issues of power and privilege and talk about the ways men hurt women.
That’s what makes their current material so surprising. Ansari and C.K. aren’t just avoiding the subject of #MeToo — they’re going in the opposite direction, complaining about political correctness and outrage culture when their comedy once sent the message that women were absolutely right to be outraged.
Their new work is reactionary — crude jokes about Asian men wouldn’t be out of place at a Trump rally — and it’s dated. C.K.’s complaints about they/them pronouns aren’t just offensive; they’re also tired, well-worn platitudes parroted by everyone from psychologist Jordan Peterson to TV host Piers Morgan. C.K. may think his new material is edgy, but his rant about young people today sounds like it could come from Grandpa Simpson.
Some have speculated that C.K. is consciously courting a more right-leaning audience with his new material after losing the trust of his previous fans, and it’s certainly possible that he and Ansari are pivoting to please the people who were eager to explain away the allegations against them — those who think sexual misconduct only matters if it rises to the level of the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, or who believe that men who are accused deserve swift and unconditional forgiveness.
Whatever the case, the trajectories of C.K. and Ansari are doubly disappointing — first, because men whose work had a feminist bent were accused of hurting women, and second, because they let those accusations destroy the nuanced social awareness their earlier work displayed. Apparently, C.K. and Ansari were only interested in challenging the status quo when they remained unchallenged — once women spoke out against them, they performed the comedic equivalent of packing up their toys and going home.
That’s sad for all of us. We don’t get to see the comedy these men could have created if they’d wanted to face, rather than flee from, our current moment in history. And we don’t get to see two thoughtful entertainers bring their talents to bear on a project that matters to all of us — figuring out what it should look like for men accused as part of #MeToo to apologize, atone, and move forward.
Ever since the #MeToo movement gained mainstream attention in 2017, there’s been a lot of talk about what accused men can do to redeem themselves. Now, more than a year in, it’s certainly possible to imagine some of the accused truly reckoning with their pasts — Dan Harmon’s apology for sexually harassing a writer on his show offers a view of what that might look like. But it’s hard to hold out much hope for such a reckoning on a large scale when two men who seemed like they, of all people, might be able to look deeply at their own behavior have instead chosen to pander to those who would excuse them.

Coming in and I'd like to give a big shoutout to that header image on the comic's Tapas(edited)
I dunno, I thought it looked badass
RebelVampire
it is a nice header image. although what sells it for me is the logo design. its a really nice logo.
for favorite scene, hmm. ya know, i cant not pick it. the convention scene. that scene legit almost made me cry at how touching it is both with its message about how anyone can cosplay whatever they want regardless of how they look. not to mention the themes of reaching out to others. all wrapped in a nice package of no dialogue so that its the emotions at the center forefront.
Superjustinbros
Yeah.
Also this guy's hair.
RebelVampire
i like his hair and his smile combination. like both scream cocky little shit design wise and i love it cause he kind of is a cocky little shit. XD
Superjustinbros
Oh yes XD
Cocky little shits are my favorite
RebelVampire
another scene i want to show some appreciation too is the scene where we first meet kit's mom. like, i knew it was coming from the chapter title. but i enjoyed the twist it was her step-mom and theres a deeper issue going on. it turned what was easy to guess to something surprising again just by how the story plays out the reveal
Superjustinbros
https://tapas.io/episode/1370747 This is a pretty good page.
Hm, Doug McClure sounds a awful lot like this chap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUg6e072vgA
RebelVampire
anything in particular you like about it super?
Superjustinbros
The last two panels.
And the followup
https://tapas.io/episode/1371714
dat backside
RebelVampire
i really love the back shot composition. like what a great way to show overwhelming odds
mathtans
Evening. Made it as far as the start of the Bully arc, so late 2018.
Superjustinbros
Yeah. Also ello
I love also how Doug's got like, a million pouches on his belt
I dunno it's a detial I like
mathtans
Yeah, the convention stuff was good. Some of those real-life scenarios that made you want to shake people are good when done right.
Superjustinbros
Yes
mathtans
I'm not sure if I have a big favourite moment, but I have some little ones. Like when that "pinball wizard" thing played as Kit was taking on that nozzle in the gaming store, and it turned out it was the coworker.
The guy at the school in the knight suit, who had the fascination with corndogs. Weird background detail, added some humour to an otherwise tense scene.
RebelVampire
i love the corndog knight
i want a spin-off comic of just them
cause i want to know about them
why are they a knight
why corndogs
so many questions
mathtans
Heh. Made me think of that other bounty hunter, pointy-ears, who also couldn't speak.
Also, did not expect the female reveal there.
And I liked how the scientist flipped out over his research having the higher bounty than himself. Like, that trumped everything else he was in the process of dealing with and he went on a rampage. Amusing.
RebelVampire
yeah the scientists in general was fairly hilarious in everything he tried to prioritize. although i enjoyed that at the end of the mission the crystal wound of broken anyway. cause i felt it was fitting given everything it had been through
mathtans
I thought it was really clever how the rock was used to blind the scientist. Kitty is this weird mix of hyper competent (like when she used the snack habits of that one guy to track him down) and absent-minded (like when she then didn't make a grab for the compound).
I'm not saying that's unrealistic or anything, I can totally see it.
Very "living in the moment" with a dash of forward thinking.
RebelVampire
nah i agree shes a really interesting character. like at first i wasnt sure id like her but some of her plans have been pretty spot. and to be fair a lot of the absent-minded ness you could write off as it her being a kid. so of course shes expected to be a kid and not always think through with her actions.
a more comedic moment i liked was at the end of Mor where Kit and Mary both have to stand there awkwardly making their false apologies to the whole school. this page especially cracks me up just cause of the sheer height diff between the two. i think that makes it extra hilarious https://tapas.io/episode/1215017
mathtans
It's true. And I'm still wrapping my head around the kid thing.
RebelVampire
QUESTION 2. One of the comic’s focuses and highlights are the action sequences found within. Of the characters Kit has pursued so far in her bounties, which has been your favorite? Why is that? Likewise, which bounty did you think had the best fight choreography? What do you specifically think makes the choreography the best one? Do you think we’ll see any of the criminal characters again? If so, what could that mean for Kit? Considering many of the villains parody stereotypes and similar things, what other sorts of characters do you think or hope we might see? Lastly, do you believe Kit will encounter more of her professional rivals? If so, what do you think will happen?
its okay i had my struggles wrapping my head around but the convention scene really cemented it for me for some reason. but that might just be personal association of conventions being largely for the youth.
mathtans
Incidentally, I wondered initially about the use of "der"... and then when Kitty used the term "Hoser" I thought she was Canadian. That proved incorrect, what with the Norwegian thing.
Ahh... yeah, I went to a certain convention for 20 years straight soooo...
Like, I want to ship, but it feels wrong. Normally if they're young I just think of it as cute, or picture them as older, and neither of those things kinda work here.
I wonder how big Kitty's gonna get when she's 20.
RebelVampire
i didnt start going to conventions till i was an adult but at the same time my experiences is that theyre largely dominated by the youth. not to say there arent older adults there. but the youth are the ones always around drawing attention to themselves being loud. but i digress, just wanted to give context for why it worked for me
mathtans
That's fair.
RebelVampire
tbh i just assumed she was full grown. cause i was actually only an inch or two shorter than my full height at 13 cause i sprouted up early
mathtans
As to the question of the moment, I admit I'm not huge on seeing action and choreography, tending to be bigger on characters anyway. Which is probably why that scientist one sticks out so much, since we got his whole backstory and everything.
I am gonna be in for such a shock when my little one grows up, aren't I.
That short gangster guy who stole the boat might return. It was implied.
RebelVampire
and i legit cant imagine kit taller cause she literally towers over everyone. although is she still shorter than her dad? cause if she is, shell probably be his height.
mathtans
I think she is. I'm equally bad at noticing that sort of thing.
RebelVampire
id have to look again just cause it wasnt something i was looking for and her dad was only in so many scenes XD
im torn on my answer to this question of the moment. i think i agree i like the scientist the best cause he got a lot of backstory. not to mention when kit was doing their dialogue for them from the roof i was like "nah shes gotta be exaggerating" then we meet the scientist and nope, he really is just that arrogant and she was spot on. so overally he was definitely the most entertaining
but for fight choreography, im picking the first bounty with the spin off kool aid man. i really enjoyed the use of the environment and just the sheer level of destruction that was visited upon that grocery store
mathtans
She knows her business. I wonder how long she's been at it.
Oh yeah, almost forgot about that one. I liked when Kitty roped the random customer.
RebelVampire
i liked when after the fight ended, the old lady asked if the employee who was buried under rubble basically could get her a new box
MoeAlmighty
And that was most difficult one to come up with
mathtans
The one with the orcs going after cows was also good, not for the fight (which I think was offscreen) but world building. Until then it was sort of, like, what's reality here anyway.
Oh, hello creator.
MoeAlmighty
Hello there all ^^\
mathtans
Rebel: That was a good scene for setting the tone.
Superjustinbros
Hello Moe!
MoeAlmighty
Thank you. It's always a challenge to come up with a beginning for a series.
Superjustinbros
Thanks for this cool comic of yours.
MoeAlmighty
Howdey
Thanks
Superjustinbros
No probs
And yeah all this talk about conventions is reminding me of all the ones I've been going to lately. Comic focused ones and hugely commercial conventions are easily the most populated-by-youth ones.
mathtans
"Annie" con was a clever name.
MoeAlmighty
It was a little play on words. I always like to make those little puns when I can(edited)
RebelVampire
i did enjoy the orcs with the cows. probably just cause of the extreme accent going on in that dialogue. but i also just love this concept that someone would think clearly humans are only good cause they drink milk. like someone really watched those got milk commercials too much.
mathtans
I very much approve of puns. Also Senshi Kitty.
The head orc was milking his time in the spotlight.
Superjustinbros
Puns are always good
RebelVampire
i do agree with you math that i got the impression well see the gangster who got away from the scientist again at some point. what it means for kit? i could see her being extra determined to catch him since he got away last time. but then maybe thats when well see buff elf chick again who is out for revenge.
MoeAlmighty
Defintely. Orcs have always been my favorite fantasy race to play around with
mathtans
biab
RebelVampire
i do appreciate orcs getting some love in a way cause in my experience theyre really underutilized in a lot of fantasy settings. can find elves everywhere, but nobody wants the orcs.
MoeAlmighty
Well nothing is off the table.^^
Orcs have always been treated as the bad guy or the henchman merely due to their monsterous appearence.
RebelVampire
speaking of not elves, i really like that this guy turned out to be the real villain from bully bully https://tapas.io/episode/1348464. partly cause it was a good twist that it was a bully victim becoming the bully. since that is very true to life. but also, selfishly, i noticed this character immediately in the background one time and i was like "ah man what an interesting looking side chara too bad well never learn about him" and then we learned about him.
QUESTION 3. Even in Kit’s dynamic world, she still has some unique mysteries surrounding her. Why do you think Kit is the only female in her family to receive Freyja’s blessing/curse, especially after it’s been so long it’s almost a myth? What do you think the story is behind Kit’s rage modes that seem to take over when she gets mad? What do you think happened to Kit’s mother, and why is Kit so sensitive about the subject of her mother in general? Additionally, why did Mary calling her mother a whore set her off in particular? Lastly, how do you think Kit got involved with being a Bounty Killer? Why do you think her family lets her pursue the career given how dangerous it all is?
MoeAlmighty
Oh yeah the Goblin. I thought it was a perfect opprotunity to not just introduce the Goblins , but I was also playing around with laying out clues in plain site for the reader to notice.
Superjustinbros
That's smart thinking/writing
MoeAlmighty
There are plans for future stories that are straight up mysteries Kit will have to sovle.
RebelVampire
that sounds exciting and like a good challenge for her character too.
in regards to the current question, i want to dissect the fact that kit's specific phrasing about her mother was that mary hadnt even cared who her mother was as a person. and to a degree, i kind of feel like it was projecting that set her off. that kit herself didnt know a whole lot about her mother. so it might not be so much that her mom was called a whore that did it, but that someone would make a bold claim about her mother when kit herself didnt even know her that well and has since lost the chance to get ot know her. but thats just me theorizing.
mathtans
Back, little one's asleep in the crib again. For now.
MoeAlmighty
Mm hm, It would show that Bounty Killers in the world aren't used for just nabbing a bad guy with a hefty sum on their head. Sometimes folks need someone to investigate with the police's involvement and not ask any questions
mathtans
Was Kitty maybe given up for adoption? (Is that what makes her worthy of the cat ears?)
The police were handy against the scientist too, for a little while.
Superjustinbros
That's a good way of expanding upon bounty hunters.
RebelVampire
i dont think given up for adoption fits cause mor said shes the step mom which implies kit's father is her biological dad. that and there is one pic where the dad is with the mom
mathtans
Oh, right. We did see her biological mom in that holiday special though, didn't we? And Kitty must remember enough to have taken up violin playing (on the roof). So... yeah I dunno.
RebelVampire
thats interesting to know that the bounties arent just for nabbing bad guys. although makes me wonder what kit is going to do when shes told to do something shady and just not ask questions
mathtans
Or was that not the biological mom, was that a younger Dar?
I can't see Kit not asking questions.
RebelVampire
that was her step-mom. her bio mom we only see briefly in a pic
https://tapas.io/episode/1279607
mathtans
I wasn't sure if it was her dad remembering another time in that scene though. Like, the previous stuff was a memory.
(I also don't get enough sleep these days.)
RebelVampire
i could see how youd get that interpretation but pretty sure it was the step-mom and the bio mom was just in the picture
MoeAlmighty
There are a lot of things I don't want to say because of spoilers and I'll be answering those kind of questions down the road. But to answer the question pretaining to Mary, they do indeed have some History as hinted.
mathtans
Mary is actually the younger cousin of the short boat-stealing gangster.
It's why her dad went into law.
MoeAlmighty
heh. that is a pretty interesting theory.
mathtans
(I need to have at least one insane theory and one ship per comic chat. I think it's in my contract.)
RebelVampire
puns are also in your contract math. although you already fulfilled that one.
mary's dad kind of spooks me. like hes a really domineering presence and idk if i want to believe hes good or bad.
MoeAlmighty
Truth is, when I created Mary, she was developed as just the rich girl who presented herself as Ms. Perfect while also having the spoiled brat persona as well
Superjustinbros
lol
mathtans
Oh right. Well, those come naturally. I wonder if her dad is part orc.
Superjustinbros
That's one of many ways to describe that
MoeAlmighty
Best way to describe him is that he's a Lawyer... a very wealthy lawyer.
Oh no, he's part Dutch lol
mathtans
Incidentally, I kind of like that Kit's got both cat ears and human ears, it tends to be how I draw my characters too (even if mine are just headbands). But it does make me wonder how the curse might have rewired her brain to deal with the extra input.
Oooh, a flying dutch man.
RebelVampire
all the dads just drink lots of milk
Superjustinbros
What about Doug.
RebelVampire
to be fair if kit's cat ears are more sensitive than her human ones the extra input probably doesnt matter cause one would hear it better than the other anyway. at worst i imagine things just sound even louder XD
mathtans
It's that special beer.
Maybe it's partly why Kat's so on edge at times.
Superjustinbros
mm, beer
Wait, what kind of beer we talkin
MoeAlmighty
It's kind of a mix bag with it comes to her ears. Internally they do connect to her regular ears and she can hear through them, but only if she concentrates. Mostly they just act like a short range radar or a sixth sense. Something like spidey's spider sense.
Ah yes, I've notice some folks like our esteem adventurer. Others not so much
RebelVampire
QUESTION 4. Besides the action, there is still a lot of slice-of-life material to be had in the comic as well. Do you think Kit will eventually tell Bia about her career? How do you think Bia will react to finding out about it? What challenges do you foresee awaiting Bia and Kit as their relationship continues to develop and secrets reveal themselves? Further, how do you see Kit balancing her school life in general with her job? Will she manage to maintain her grades and everything, or will things prove tougher than she expects? In terms of Kit’s regular life, what things are you hoping to see be explored in how she lives her day-to-day life? Lastly, are there any themes (like bullying) that caught your eye from the slice-of-life segments? What about them did you enjoy?
mathtans
It's cool that youv'e thought about that.
Honestly, the bounty-hunters clashing, while not necessarily slice-of-life, felt realistic and added depth to the idea of the job. Also revealed how their methods are non-lethal. And was the first ship I considered.
MoeAlmighty
Ah yes, I had a lot of folks doing a double take when I revealed her age.
RebelVampire
unrelated to the current question, i really hope we get to see more bounty killers in the story just cause they cant all work out as well as buff elf chick. also id really like to get a feel for the age range cause its concerning the gov was like "nah a 13 year old bounty killer? thats fine"
mathtans
That's a good point. Did she register under an assumed name?
Superjustinbros
Seconding Rebel.
MoeAlmighty
Well due to Kit's size, she may or may not of lied about her age when she took the job
mathtans
Also, I feel like the construction job field gets a lot of work in this universe. We only see Kitty's exploits but there have to be other incidents in the world as well.
Actually, magicians too must be a thing. And mimes.
Did not expect the mimes.
MoeAlmighty
Their are plans to explore other parts of world. One in particular is the Bounty Pick Up units sent to pick up the bounties and make out the reports.
Yes, beware the mimes ^^
I will be exploring a lot more of the Magis and how the magic works as well.
mathtans
Silent but deadly.
MoeAlmighty
very
mathtans
That short magic comic did a good job, I thought.
And I liked the money van guy critiquing the pun.
MoeAlmighty
Hm Hm, well not everything can be a homerun for our little cat girl
RebelVampire
yeah i really liked the short magic comic. cause it was funny and really did some good world-building
i also loved the cowboy bank robber
just cause he was a cowboy
and that was ridiculous
mathtans
Oh yeah, forgot about him.
I wonder how Kitty practices her quick draws.
Where do they lock these guys up, anyway? Regular jails seem like they wouldn't be sufficient.
MoeAlmighty
Yes, you don't see that many cowboys these days. But it was a perfect nod for one of the inspirations of the comic
Superjustinbros
Cowboys are fun.
MoeAlmighty
Um, they go to regular prison and go through the same process as the law provides^^
Superjustinbros
Always love one with an appealing design when one shows up.
MoeAlmighty
Very much so
RebelVampire
what sort of lawyer is mary's dad?
mathtans
How do you lock up an orc so that he doesn't just bend the bars?
MoeAlmighty
He's a defense lawyer
mathtans
He lawyers der fence.
RebelVampire
ah so i can say maybe mary's dad defends all these criminals kit tries to send to jail.
MoeAlmighty
Booooo
It's a possibility and her dad is very much against the Bounty Killer and the Bounty Board in general
Superjustinbros
ooh, is that so(edited)
mathtans
Circling back to Bia, it'd be amusing if someone in her family was also a bounty hunter. Kitty admits it and she's like, "oh, okay, I can see how you'd be good at that too".
RebelVampire
just to talk a bit about the current question, i do feel its inevitable kit has to tell bia about her job. cause i mean...kit isnt the most undestructive. just takes one time of showing up burnt to a crisp to school to give it away. but i think bia is gonna take it better than kit thinks shell take it. cause tbf, if i was bia i would not be surprised.
tbf i kind of agree with mary's dad. they might be catching criminals, but holy shit that property damage
mathtans
I feel like Bia might find out not through Kit though. Like maybe even via Kit's brother. Which could strain the relationship.(edited)
RebelVampire
especially the property damage caused by the scientist
cause even if they have the money to fix it, it still takes time
mathtans
Or magic.
MoeAlmighty
Bia finding out Kit is a Bounty Killer is inevitable, and it might happen happen sooner than you think
RebelVampire
it could strain their relationship too. though for some reason i feel for bia itd be more about the age thing than the danger thing if that makes sense. cause the career suits kit. just maybe not when kit is still 13, in school, and all that
mathtans
'Cept her dad is okay with it.
I feel like I'd totally be that dad by the way. Who makes concessions. Then ends up in trouble with mom too.
MoeAlmighty
It is going to a very unique exploring the relationship Kit and Bia have. In many ways, Bia will act more like the straight man of the relationship
Well Edward looks at it more like she's hunting game. expect the part of gutting it and cleaning it for food^^
RebelVampire
i just want to say i really love kit's dad and i hope we get to see him more. he seems just so utterly likeable. like a gentle giant
mathtans
Just want to give a shout-out to the school nun badass. Possibly like the opposite to dad.
MoeAlmighty
He is indeed^^
Superjustinbros
Since the CTP is wrapping up in a bit, I'd like to wish @MoeAlmighty the best of luck with Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, it's got a great artstyle, story, and some good humor.
mathtans
Oh right, pretty good stuff done with only black and white too.
MoeAlmighty
Yes, Beatrice is indeed a beast^^
Thank you so much^^
Superjustinbros
You're welcome! ^^
RebelVampire
yeah i loved the nun. especially her epic entrance and this page https://tapas.io/episode/1188530
like everything about that page is perfect
"Keeper of the Lunch Period"
MoeAlmighty
God help the guilty
mathtans
Indeed.
Probably a bumper sticker on her car.
MoeAlmighty
I'm sure everyone here remembers that one teacher that kept everyone in check at lunch period
best bumper sticker ever
mathtans
Kitty has some nice exclamations too.
Superjustinbros
lol
Anyways, cya till next time, and thanks for dropping by @MoeAlmighty
^^

Wonder Woman
I had such a roller coaster of expectations before seeing this movie. If you read my list of anticipated films on new years, you’ll know I was looking forward to this the most. I was ready to defend it from critics just because of my love of Wonder Woman and female superhero movies.
And then critics started coming in RAVING about it, and I was so happy!....until I realized it couldn’t possibly that perfect. Until I realized that maybe critics liked it because it was basically a marvel movie instead of a DC movie, or they liked it for some reason that I’d end up hating, and my expectations started getting worried.
But then I came out of that theater, and you know what, its not a perfect movie, what is? Sure there were some changes here and there I could make, some things that weren’t the best, but you know fucking what?
Wonder Woman’s heart was there. It was there, right there at the center. And because they nailed that, nothing else matters.
Lets talk about the flaws real quick, though.
The Bad Stuff
So, right off the bat the greek god legends they put into this were weird as heck. It was not a traditional greek god telling, and I only realized after I got home that its because they were doing christian greek gods. Okay, but really, Zeus as god, Ares as the fallen angel who hates humans and whispers in their ears to influence them (shush he kinda does a bit) and Diana as Jesus because.....well, it is still a DCEU movie, folks.
On the whole it didn’t bother me too much it was just weird and I think there were ways to have like....not made your hero jesus? but at least it was love jesus, so okay.
I felt like there was a scene missing of Diana going back to Themyscira before going into modern times. IDK. MAYBE they’ll want to pull another movie out of that, but i doubt it.
Am I the only one who kinda wishes after the reveal they replaced David Thewlis with a different actor? Like. Eh. This villain did not feel very Ares god of war. Honestly none of the villains were really that great, but its still a superhero movie, so *shrug*
Did Charlie ever actually snipe someone? we never really found out his story. Was the point he DIDN’T snipe someone?
This also shows its a DCEU movie because like....every action scene had about 10 times more than necessary slow mo. Some of them were needed. Not all of them. if you played all of those at regular speed you’d cut 10 minutes off the film.
aaaaaaaand thats it for Bad Stuff, lets talk about Good Stuff
The Good Stuff
The biggest thing here, and I mean the BIGGEST, was the message. It was clear, concise, but...also complicated? and Very very wonderwoman. About humanity not being perfect, but still should be protected, guided to be better. Its about believing in Love in all things.
And geez the way this played out? The dawning realization for Diana that not one single entity, even a god, caused the cruelty of mankind, but that its more complicated. Its in everyone, even those she loves, maybe even herself. That Good and Evil is not so straightforward. Holy shit. So good.
The ‘godkiller’ part was also thematically appropriate. I remember a post talking about being disappointed that Wonder Woman was often depicted with a sword these days, and I get that. I thought it was just going to be a truth of the films that we’d be stuck with violent Diana. But damn, when that sword SHATTERED! I mean, I wasn’t totally surprised, I kinda expected that the god killer would have actually been her, but still FUCK. The whole final battle sequence was with  her lasso, and her final move to defeat Ares was one of protection.
Okay this is going to be something I’ll need to see the movie again for, but from what it looked like, while Wonder Woman was totally 100% on board with killing people, for MOST of her fight scenes, The killing blow was always her second. She’d first try to do some nonlethal damage like punching, or using the lasso to trap them. It was only when they continued pursuing she used a sword, and holy fuck if THAT isn’t thematically appropriate for Wonder Woman. The others, sure, Steve was ready to shoot to kill. But that was Diana’s 2nd move.
The dialogue pieces were nice. People keep saying the romance between Steve and Diana is on point, and it is. Its MAYBE a tad rushed when they get to the actual kissing part, but I’ll put that down as it was war and they had little time. I DID appreciate that even after the kissy stuff, they didn’t treat each other any different.
That’s actually another great point, Steve Trevor was marvelous. He was sorta the comedic relief (brilliant idea to combine that with the love interest) but he was heartfelt when he needed to be. I was so in love with the moment he wrapped the lasso around his own hand. After he had been imprisoned in that thing, it was like, the ultimate trust move on his part. And trust clearly doesn’t come easily for him. Plus he was such a good counterpoint to Diana’s ideals. I was sad he died, but did kinda expect it.
THIS FILM HAS DIVERSITY!!!! Its not perfect, and there’s still a LOT of white, but of the main crew, one was brown, another Native American (actually that was another great point in the thematically “things are more complicated than they appear”) Although...did they say his tribe? Hmm. That is disappointing now that I think about it.....BUT the BACKGROUND characters were also pretty diverse and that was...that was amazing for a ‘historical’ movie. Honestly, they could have made everyone white and there would have been complaints, but they’d be protected mostly. First off there was Nyobe with the Amazons (!!!!!). Then in the background you had even more, I saw multiple background actors with Turbans and everything and it was...it was glorious.
Also I think they tried to sneak in some lesbians. They never made it overt, but we all saw the scene where Antiope died and was crowded by her niece, her sister, and Other Amazon who came running. Also, she’s dead, what more proof do you need of lesbianship? (cries forever)
But yeah. Flawed? Maybe. But Holy SHIT this was a good movie. It had that good balance of humor and action and moral compass. But like I said, it had heart. And thats what makes a superhero film.
Also a boss soundtrack, holy SHIT

A Full Timeline of Iggy Azalea's Beefs, From Azealia Banks to Halsey
A Full Timeline of Iggy Azalea's Beefs, From Azealia Banks to Halsey
Although she hasn’t released an album in three years, Iggy Azalea’s name hasn’t been forgotten. Known for causing controversy — usually having to do with racial appropriation — the Australian rapper has beefed with everyone from Azealia Banks to Snoop Dogg.
We put together a complete history of all of her celebrity feuds from 2011 all the way up to Azalea’s latest beef with Halsey. Check out the timeline below.
September 9, 2011
Days before the release of her debut mixtape Ignorant Art Iggy releases a video for her song “D.R.U.G.S.” In the video she sings over the beat of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Look Out for Detox’, “When the relay starts, Im a runaway slave… Master, hitting on the past gotta spit it like a pastor.” This is an allusion to the lyric from his song, “When the relay starts, I’m a runaway slave.”
September 13, 2011
Iggy begins one sided beef with Kreayshawn on Twitter. She later responded and retweeted more negative statements.
October 9, 2011
Iggy claims that getting booed offstage at Canal Room in New York was the driving force for her career. After the show, she took to Twitter to address the alleged female haters. “It was kinda awkward cause this girl stood in the front row my entire set screaming ‘your pussy suckssss!!!’ ! Lol #whyyoumad.” The video from the show that night tells a different story however or a particularly happy crowd with only one male booing her at the 6:26 mark.
October 19, 2011
In a tweet that was later deleted Azealia Banks wrote, “how sexy is iggy azalea?? it’s kind of ridiculous … *tugs collar to let out steam*.” Starting out as a girl crush the feud with Banks will become one of Azalea’s worst.
October 20, 2011
Azealia Banks tweeted, “once wrote a song called ‘Barbie Shit,’ but nicki minaj blew up like the week after so i took it down, lololz. i felt corny. Also wrote a song called P-U-$-$-Y before Iggy Azalea.” Iggy responded with, “its NEVER been about who did it first… its ALWAYS been about who did it better.” Banks retweeted Iggy’s insult and wrote back, “i know right?? lmfaooo. haha.” And the beef begins.
In an interview not long after the tweet, Iggy reflects on the tweet claiming Banks said, “I’m next level, I had a song about being a Barbie before Nicki Minaj had a song about being a Barbie. Generally speaking, I’m unbothered by anything that ‘happened’ at the BET Awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time. Anyone who wishes me well is welcome in my life, and those who don’t can’t get any more of my time. I hate to see everyone exhausting themselves on my behalf over things that I’m still not 100 percent sure even exist and don’t matter. Just let it go.” Nicki later backtracked and responded with “The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. As the notheners of the UK say, I’m in a ‘bad way’ right now
I am a woman, a human woman.
And ofcourse despite my ordeal over the past three/four months I ended up at Asher’s on Sunday.. Its not what you think it was though.. Things are different, its weird.
I was sleeping with his friend before I had ever even met him and i kinda went back there a week after we had broken up..
I think he might know, but at the same time I dont see why he should care.
But.. boys will be boys.
It hurts, but at the time of penetration I was genuinely 1000% sure that I wouldn’t get back with Asher. But somehow his penis accidently fell in my mouth and here I am.
I am a woman, a human woman.
It breaks my heart that he’s treating me this way but its all for the best, He’s not the one. There’s a famous saying, something along the lines of, its not how he makes you feel that matters, its about how he makes you feel about yourself.
I’m the kind of gal that like acknowledgement. I like to be acknowledged more for my positives than my negatives. All Asher has ever done is point out my flaws, from the very first moment I met him to now, that’s all he’s ever done, criticize me for my personality. Making me feeel worthless.
Ever since he broke up with me a couple weeks ago I’ve been getting my happy back. There’s always a permanent smile on my face at work everyone has noticed the difference. I’m only ever unhappy or angry when I’m around him..
Omg guys, *side note* I had THE BEST day at work ever today. I’ve been working closely with our marketing manager and I spent the day doing everything I’ve ever dreamed of doing. Dealing with creatives, resizing logos, sorting out bag, pen and notebook designs, checking out venues for a corporate event we’re having on Friday.
I think I might end on that note you know, although my heart still yearns for some kind of love, his love isn’t what I need, he hasn’t got the right influence on me. I need to surround myself with people smarter, more motivated and better looking than me lol.
My marketing manager is tensioning a bitch big time, shes so fucking fly, she always looks on point, her weave, her dress sense, her make up and nails. I want to be that girl, I just need fucking money.
I might start paying my nail salon a lump sum. Like 15k just so I dont have to worry about when the next monies is gonna come. Sounds like a plan.
But yeah, things are looking up and my future ooks brighter the longer I stay sober. Hanging around him just makes me want to start blazing again. I need my head to be clear at this critical point in my life.
Eventually I will do a post on my colleagues and how incompetent some of them are. What i love about my marketing manager is the fact that she’s exactly like me!! We think exactly the same and she motivates me to be the best I can be! She’s like a female Juju (my ex- who i will eventually do a post on too!) I’m feeling so fulfilled at work and I just pray God continues to send people like her my way.
I could really use some support at this point in time of my life and if they help me achieve my goals at the same time then that’s absofuckiinglutely fantabulous.
I’m not gonna bother reading over this, so apologies for all the grammatical mistakes. I’m off to watch Celebrity Big Brother Muthafuckasssss!
