yeah ok lmk s5 is pretty great
#lego monkie kid#monkie kid#lmk#considering the season was probably crunched and seemingly has no special i think they did a great job holding up to old seasons#the animation could be better in some parts and isn't gonna live up to flying bark but its honestly not that bad#like it was pretty good too and would never really distract from the story#and they were right the story was still peak#idk i might have to rewatch but yeah that final part was great and am loving the implications for future seasons#like the whole pillars of creation thing? snake guy and the whole chaos stuff? everyone gaining powers at the end?#so many directions to take future stuff#the whole conflict was fun mk's whole journey was peak as always and the spotlights given to the others worked well too#i am honestly very interested where the show goes next (though hopefully they'll take more than a year to cook please don't rush things)#anyways those are my thoughts yippee#alttalks

uuhhh in other new that lmk s5 trailer dropped and people are very
mixed
for context the new season is being partly animated by wildbrain i think. flying bark is still working on the show but probably due to all the other projects they've been working on like the atla movie the animation is off.
its understandable that people are upset. lmk has some of the most consistently dynamic and lively animation ive ever seen, and going from that to ok animation kinda sucks. as a culmination of a lot of what the series has been building up to people were inevitably going to be disappointed
at the same time people shouldnt harass animators. like ever. no amount of trying to petition or anything will change the s5, people are just trying to do their job and theres no probably no major changing to the finished product by now. and theres still a lot of that lmk charm in there, and we haven't even seen the whole season yet to judge it. flying bark is still working on it, and even if the animation never reaches the peak of the old seasons it still has the same writers so at least the writing has the chance to live up old standards. idk though we'll just have to wait and see
#i do think they could have just delayed it after dealing with other projects but with the anniversary lego might have jsut forced them????#and with how the animation industry is i guess they didnt have a choice#tbh im still really sad about the downgrade but after rewatching the trailer a bit more its not that bad despite the tweening#we've been spoiled with the other seasons but i think people will get used to it at some point. maybe#though i cant forgive some of the new stuff like li jing and that dragon tiger duo they do not fit the artstyle at all#though for li jing i think the problem is mostly proportions and how small his eyes look#but the dragon and tigers snouts just look bad.#ok looking at it again i think it looks weird because theyre dissolving. the design's still off but it wasn't as bad as i first thought.#but the proportions and shapes feels like it just isn't from lmk#idk i could nitpick but negativity is tiring and these guys have big shoes to fill for a show they werent prepared for it was inevitable#for any last takeaways please do not be mean to the animators#also studio changes are normal so its not some horrible injustice or the sign of the end times im more upset lego didn't handle it better#i still hope s5 is good and i want to believe it'll still be satisfying by the end the plot so far sounds pretty interesting#or atleast that the atla movie is good enough to compensate#and if im feeling greedy there will be a 6th season that gets better#and there are still good shots throughout all of this so maybe it'll work out with the season as a whole#with how popular it is in china i dont think its out of the question#idk though a lot of information is still up in the air so i guess we just wait#lego monkie kid#lmk#monkie kid#alttalks

i swear lmk distribution is cursed because for a good while it was barely accessible in places other than china. i get the show was made for china but it’s ironic the english version the show is originally recorded for is less accessible. then it starts dropping on the most random streaming services ever that no one owns out of nowhere which is the only legal way to find it. one of them was an old elsagate channel of all things, which dropped the entirety of season 4 with no warning. the english version of season 4 was still airing at the time. then happykids say they’re going to drop the specials in a week but proceed to only post the final episode of the special after like an hour. only one episode. out of 4. a week before they were supposed to. the exact day they announced it.

guys guyg uys the monkie kid soundtrack would have such a stranglehold of me if they actually released it i need the soundtrack out now
like the score is an essential part of so many of the most iconic parts of the show it adds so much emotion and gravity to the scenes
and i would honestly listen to it on its own on repeat is so good sounding with the melding of different genres of music
i know nothing about how music works but i’d really like to analyze all the the leitmotifs and sounds associated with all the characters and it would be a whole lot easier if they officially released it

#a show with a constantly fire soundtrack must be cherished ok#lego monkie kid#monkie kid#lmk#also characters have multiple leitmotifs judging by the piano cover so i might have to look for that too#but i did notice motifis for flowerfruit mountain mk/swk mei tang pigsy/sandy nezha red son azure macaque lbd and the villains in general#and more#also idk why pigsy and sandy share a leitmotif like i get mk and swk but why didnt sandy get something#ok after rewatching the show again i THINK i might have heard sandy's motif but it isnt played enough for me to be sure and he shared pigsys#like three times already so idk#update again i was just stupid sandy doesn't share with pigsy i was just put off by pitiful creature's combining both motifs#listen sandy's motif is really short and leads from pigsy's really well#also sound cues and associated instruments for a lot of things like the ink curse subodi's training grounds all the characters etc etc#the soundtrack alone could be put under a microscope so you can understand the insanity i feel#lmk advertizing on my blog i know like zero of my followers know wtf im talking about so that better change soon#alttalks

idk why it took this long for me to realize the reason S4E3 Show Me the Monster was formatted that way was because the two plots have the same theme of embracing fate/ the monster your fated to be
#no special spoiler dw#lego monkie kid#monkie kid#lmk#like for one it's because they needed a duo plot ep to resolve one thing and introduce another#but i always felt the two plots were a bit disconnected#in a way that was understandable but now i think the eps even better#but like the line from sandy about ''being too weak to be who you truly are''#and ''the world wants me to be a monster so thats what im gonna give them''#with the second plot being the leadup to the pitiful creatures ep which is the start of a potentially big story arc later on#like idk if everyone else noticed but wow#alttalks

i remember during the final boss of wandersong i didn't realize you were supposed to control the dream king's attacks to stop audrey so instead i just got kicked by her 20 times and that somehow meant the healthbar didn't even reach half.
when the next cutscene played and she killed him with one hit i was like no you didn't
#wandersong#i kept interrupting her charging so i guess she never got to attack#was watching a playthrough and only really realized how the fight was supposed to go and that the dream king would have been on 1hp#also only now realized that the ringing of the dream king's bell made you hit the purple and yellow notes that represent the dream king#kinda representing the beginning and end#also i haven't talked about wandersong yet here which is a shame because damn do i love this game#music slaps platforming is fun and unique artstyle is so pretty i love the characters and the end of the world story just hits different#in 2023#idk man you should play it its great#alttalks
