SLEEP TOKEN
Anonymous Brit metal cult big on peering down the rabbit hole…
Sleep Token are a band shrouded in mystery. The London metallers' mix of high-tech riffs and dreamy soundscapes have earned them a good name for themselves since forming last year, but if you want to give them credit for it, you must do so to the masked, anonymous face of their enigmatic frontman, known only as Him. Him declines to reveal specifics about the ancient deity the band worship, Sleep, but he's more forthcoming about his own artistic motivation.
"There exists a considerable body of art that explores the deeper recesses of the human mind," he explains. "Sleep Token serve as a means to explore this on an individual basis. The music is a representation of one individual's deepest and most fundamental emotions and desires. This is what people connect to. They see themselves in this individual, and the music becomes about them."
Easy-going fare this isn't, but there's no denying it's pretty captivating. Sleep Token have played fewer than 10 times (they refer to their gigs as "rituals"), but they're already Download alumni. The industrial-ish thrust of new single Jaws, meanwhile, continues their philosophical, lyrical path.
"Our jaws are the tools we have to rend apart," Him explains. "They show our concealed aggression, and take something once hidden and burst it apart. You don't know someone until you have seen
them destroy something. Jaws is an exploration of the frustration which accompanies the sense that someone close to you is hiding their true self."
But while Jaws looks to expose the darkness that lies inside us, when it comes to the band's own identities Sleep Token are steadfast in their belief that art comes before aesthetic.
"Art has become entangled with identity," Him says of the band's anonymity. "The aim is to provide something people can engage with without being obstructed by the identity of its creator. The true identities behind Sleep Token are irrelevant. Our identity is represented through the art and music itself."

Anonymous Brit metal cult big on peering down the rabbit hole…
Culto anônimo britânico de metal explora a toca do coelho...
“WE EXPLORE THE DEEPER RECESSES OF THE MIND…” - HIM
“EXPLORAMOS OS RECANTOS MAIS PROFUNDOS DA MENTE...” - HIM
Sleep Token are a band shrouded in mystery. The London metallers’ mix of high-tech riffs and dreamy soundscapes have earned them a good name for themselves since forming last year, but if you want to give them credit for it, you must do so to the masked, anonymous face of their enigmatic frontman, known only as Him. Him declines to reveal specifics about the ancient deity behind the band worship, Sleep, but he’s more forthcoming about his own artistic motivation.
“There exists a considerable body of art that explores the deeper recesses of the human mind,” he explains. “Sleep Token serve as a means to explore this on an individual basis. The music is a representation of one individual’s deepest and most fundamental emotions and desires. This is what people connect to. They see themselves in this individual, and the music becomes about them.”
“Existe um corpo considerável de arte que explora os recantos mais profundos da mente humana,” ele explica. “Sleep Token serve como um meio para explorar isso de maneira individual. A música é uma representação das emoções e desejos mais profundos e fundamentais de um indivíduo. É isso que as pessoas conectam. Elas se veem nesse indivíduo, e a música passa a ser sobre elas.”
Easy-going fare this isn’t, but there’s no denying it’s pretty captivating. Sleep Token have played fewer than 10 times (they refer to their gigs as “rituals”), but they’re already download alumni. The industrial-ish thrust of new single Jaws, meanwhile, continues their philosophical, lyrical path. “Our jaws are the tools we have to rend apart,” Him explains. “They show our concealed aggression, and take something once hidden and burst it apart. You don’t know someone until you have seen them destroy something. Jaws is an exploration of the frustration which accompanies the sense that someone close to you is hiding their true self."
But while Jaws looks to expose the darkness that lies inside us, when it comes to the band's it comes to the band's own identities Sleep Token are steadfast in their belief that art comes before aesthetic.
Mas enquanto Jaws busca expor a escuridão que reside dentro de nós, quando se trata das próprias identidades da banda, Sleep Token é firme em sua crença de que a arte vem antes da estética.
“Art has become entangled with identity,” Him says of the band’s anonymity. “The aim is to provide something people can engage with without being obstructed by the identity of its creator. The true identities behind Sleep Token are irrelevant. Our identity is represented through the art and music itself.”
“A arte se entrelaçou com a identidade,” diz Him sobre o anonimato da banda. “O objetivo é fornecer algo com que as pessoas possam se envolver sem ser obstruído pela identidade de seu criador. As verdadeiras identidades por trás do Sleep Token são irrelevantes. Nossa identidade é representada através da arte e da música em si.”

i want to get back the energy i had as a kid where i would just put down things that came into my head ,, this is a personal art post technically so ill allow myself some 2 am personal thoughts feel free to skip
im realizing.here doing the art school things and being constantly surrounded by students and profs all with high standards and high expectations bc of the reputation of this program,, seeing classmates work played on the screen or put up on the walls, upper year students work, award winning thesis films, alumni getting spots in big studios, films + series, its so so easy, encouraged, to focus entirely on improving, like how to consistently make a clearer pose, smoother line, more engaging story ideas.and. of course its necessary and important and adaptability and fast improvement is something good to strive for when my eventual goal is a job in the animation industry when skill and efficiency and reputation will be what gets employment opportunities
but right now at least it is so.difficult to want to improve in a way that matters. and pretty soon ill stop making any sense here but the competitive nature of .how commercial art works ,combined with that of the academic setting with everything we make getting graded has been making it all just a non-stop trucking along to complete one project after the other which i do think is giving us huge + quick improvements in our tool skills, observation, storytelling yadayada but i am so.., its easy to forget why i wanted to become an artist to begin with,, . like when i was 6 and scribbling dragons onto sheets of lined paper and of course looking back now the drawings are formless, illogical but at the time i was so proud because dragons were cool and i made my own dragon right there on the paper and it had cool horns and scales and that was all and it all has gotten so complicated and its like.i am working to improve my skills just for the sake of improving with so little wiggle room in my brain for original concepts and i need to remember the insane visions for full song animations and magic fight sequences and mary sue ocs that started and kept me drawing way back and anyway ill stop for now if you read this far i love you and pls be kind

As I wrote before, today's cases show clearly how this is a 3-3-3 court, with a radical right-wing trio willing to blow up precedent at any turn; a right-wing trio that is more traditionally conservative most of the time; and a left-of-center (but definitely not left wing) trio. In today's two cases, the right-wing trio joins with the radical right wing for one 6-3 case and joins with the leftish trio for a different 6-3 case.
Snyder v. United States, bribery
Let me begin by saying that this case is not an aberration. The Court has been engaged for some time in comprehensive narrowing of the federal statutes against bribery, led by the right wing, and it is flatly incomprehensible what their motive could be outside of bribery itself, or, worse, empathy for the bribee that they absolutely do not extend to any other kind of defendant.
Snyder, mayor of a small town in Indiana near my alma mater, where the city bought five trash trucks from a Peterbilt dealer for $1.1M. Snyder subsequently (the order of events is important for terrible reasons) walked into the Peterbilt dealership and said "I need $15K", and the dealer negotiated him down to $13K. Snyder later claimed this was for consulting services, but the dealership employees testified that no services were provided.
You will not believe the Court's opinion (Kavanaugh for six).
The Court draws a line between "bribery" and "gratuity", where bribery has to be paid in advance of the corrupt act, and gratuity gets paid after the corrupt act. Note: The statute does not use the term "bribery" or "gratuity". The Court concludes that the statute applies only to bribery. Note that the statute refers to engaging in corrupt acts in the expectation of a "reward", which absolutely sounds retrospective and hence a "gratuity" than prospective and a "bribe" but fuck textualism when it suits us, I guess.
Since Snyder got a gratuity rather than a bribe, his conviction is overturned.
Kavanaugh characterizes "gratuities" as things like gift cards, lunches, plaques, and books. Snyder got a check for thirteen thousand dollars. But that's definitely the same as your alumni association giving you a book on the history of the university when you give a speech at the reunion.
Kavanaugh claims this is a federalism issue, because somehow the feds can regulate bribery but leave it to the states to prohibit corrupt gratuities. Note: I am absolutely not agreeing with his category difference between bribes and tips; I am reporting his frame.
NONE OF THIS IS REMOTELY CONVINCING. This is a defense lawyer shooting the moon for his client when there's pictures of him accepting a fat envelope of cash from the union president.
But that's the Supreme Court's project: bribery isn't a federal crime unless you're basically on tape saying "if you give me big wads of cash, I will get you that building contract". The same moron who takes notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy could escape a bribery conviction under those conditions.
Gorsuch has a short concurrence where he -- this is hilarious -- invoked the rule of lenity to justify Snyder's innocence. How could Snyder possibly know that demanding a fifteen thousand dollar "gratuity" was corrupt and criminal?
Jackson for the left three. She is unkind to the majority opinion, because it deserves it. She mocks its theory of the case as being absurd, she jams "textualism" down their throats (since it's one of the tools that many in the majority claim to value most for statutory analysis), and flenses them over their crocodile tears for all the other government employees who'd have to worry about accepting a plaque while a man who delivered a million dollars of government money to a dealership then walked in and said "give me money" walks away fat and happy.
What a goddamn joke.
Again, this is the sort of thing that Congress could fix with a trivial update to the law. But Congress doesn't do its job.
-------------------------------------------------
Surgeon General v. Missouri, jawboning
Jawboning is the venerable practice of the government going to reporters, newspapers, and other media people and telling them to write stories favoring their interests and yelling at them when they write stories that expose their weaknesses or cast facts in an unfavorable light.
Cast your minds back to the long distant time of 2021, when government agencies like the CDC were trying to get entities like Facebook and Twitter (!X) to, y'know, not promote false stories about horse dewormer and vaccine dangers.
Now, the list of plaintiffs/appellees in this case is instructive. It's not Facebook, Twitter, et al. It's a couple of states and a handful of yahoos.
The claim is that the government coerced the social media sites into censorship and they were harmed by this (the states are exerting the "right to hear" of their citizens). They're advocating for the right to be told clearly false bullshit. And they're making shit up.
Naturally, they brought suit in a small town in Louisiana so that they could get a specific crazy-ass judge. The judge found for them, and in extensive "fact-finding" found many false things, like misquoting a CDC official to make it sound like he was issuing orders to Facebook. (Mike Masonic at Techdirt documents a lot of the falsehoods in the lower court opinion.) The lower court crazy-ass judge issued a breathtakingly broad injunction, basically preventing hundreds of officials across dozens of agencies from jawboning the media. Not compelling the media from doing anything, because the government cannot in fact compel the media; just jawboning them.
The Fifth Circuit narrowed the injunction to only the agencies that were actually sued. But they upheld the injunction for them. The Court stayed the injunction almost immediately.
Today, they throw the case out altogether. On standing grounds, of course, because this case should never have been allowed in the first place. To bring a federal lawsuit, you must show a) that you were harmed in a particular way b) that the harm can be traced to the defendant's particular act c) that the court can do something specific about. This case fails comprehensively and obviously on the first two -- the plaintiffs were not harmed by social media deciding what to show them and deciding not to promote their posts, and the social media corporations' moderation decisions are not traceable to the government actors. (In fact, if you look into details, the reason for much of the government jawboning is how often the social media operators are not in fact suppressing stories that the government doesn't like.)
This is exactly the same as the mifepristone case from last week: No harm, no case, get this shit out of here, Fifth Circuit smackdown.
Barrett for six, Alito for the BTA in dissent.
Barrett comprehensively dismantles the lower court (and calls out its fictive "facts") and the Fifth Circuit. It's nicely done. It stands as a pendant to Kavanaugh's opinion in the mifepristone case. I would suggest that there is, in fact, a very easy compare-and-contrast paper between the two (and that Kavanaugh would come off the worse in terms of style and originality).
Alito, who will swallow any horseshit the radical right-wing legal cabal gins up, clutches his pearls and falls onto the nearest fainting couch, he's so shocked and appalled and dismayed about how awful the government is, and hyperbolically calls this case "one of the most important free speech cases to reach this Court in years".
Sidebar: Of the three BTA justices: Gorsuch is the most like Scalia, with some principles and only mostly in agreement with the radical right-wing legal cabal, not in the tank for them; Thomas has taken his wins and used them to only move further out his SO UNIQUE YOU GUYS axis (e.g. his insistence on exactly historical models in rights cases). And Alito has gone into his dotage, unable to think any thought that did not ultimately originate in a Federalist Society model argument.
Again, this case is not a victory; it is only a refusal to cede ground. One hopes that the Fifth Circuit's judges learn from their zero-wins term at the Supreme Court. But realistically, no, they won't. They are true believers over there, unbothered by legal reality.

In childhood we had learned about our history from my grandfather, Salim. I recall how my brothers and I used to sit in a circle by candlelight at night, listening to his stories. Our tragedy – the Nakba – began in May 1945, he told us, while he was harvesting his olive trees. Zionist terror gangs had begun forcing our families out of their homes, killing men, women, and children, and prompting others to flee. Those who stayed witnessed the foundations being laid for the discriminatory policies we see today. My grandfather urged us never to stop sharing these stories of Palestine. Over the past two years, during lunch breaks at my university in Malaysia, where students from all over the world study, my classmates and I have often engaged in discussions about everything from culture and religion to politics. These are precious opportunities to share my grandfather’s stories and my own perspective on the Palestinian situation. In all these discussions, I passionately defend our right to defend ourselves from aggression and to challenge the occupation of our land. [x]

Dear UWM students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater community,
Today is the fourteenth day of the encampment started on Mitchell Hall lawn by the UWM Popular University for Palestine Coalition. This encampment was launched to urge UW-Milwaukee to end its complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide and occupation of Gaza and Palestine. Additionally, we sought to spread awareness and educate our campus about the horrific oppression and violence Israel has inflicted on Palestinians for over 75 years.
Our university encampment, “Falasteen Lawn”, has been a vital tool in pressuring UWM to cut any and all ties with the occupying, oppressive, settler-colonial regime of Israel. Over the past year, student organizations have made numerous attempts to have these demands addressed through traditional and diplomatic avenues. The UWM administration was unable to provide any concrete action and maintained a stance that there was nothing more they could do.
We are proud to announce that today, Sunday May 12th, as a result of our willingness to stand up for the human rights of the innocent people of Gaza and our determination to challenge any complicity with Israel’s occupation, ethnic cleansing and genocide, we have come to an agreement with the university regarding our demands. We want to emphasize that, despite efforts by individuals and groups inside and outside the university to denigrate us and to silence our voices, we stood firm. We have felt empowered by the brave people of Gaza, by national student movements across the United States and the world and by the support of our community.
Throughout our meetings and negotiations with the UWM administration, we remained committed to our demands that were not meant for our personal benefit, but for the suffering people of Gaza. We engaged in countless email communications and lengthy meetings with the administration, always emphasizing the reasonableness and importance of accepting our demands in their entirety.
After hard fought edits and careful consideration by the coalition, we determined that we had obtained all possible benefits from our encampment. This does not mean that we have ended our struggle. In fact, we now call on all our allies and community members to join us in our ongoing efforts of negotiating with the UWM administration and the UWM Foundation. For the benefit of the people of Gaza and Palestine, we strongly believe in the need to divest from the Israeli regime, and we believe that many of our efforts will be directed at the UWM Foundation. We will not stop applying pressure and we refuse to back down until we are granted complete disclosure and divestment.
Below is a breakdown of the agreement reached with the university:
1. UWM, in an official and public statement, will not only call for a ceasefire, but will explicitly call out Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Additionally, UWM will condemn the scholasticide, specifically Israel’s military assault on Gaza, the deliberate targeting of students, teachers, professors, educational facilities, libraries, mosques, churches, and more. UWM will cite the International Criminal Court in their findings of plausible genocide in Gaza.
2. The Water Council, in which Chancellor Mone sits on as Treasurer, has officially ceased relationships and cut all ties with both Mekorot and Israel Innovation Authority, two Israeli-government-owned water companies. UWM will acknowledge that both companies are accused by international aid organizations, including Amnesty International, of cutting off access to drinking water for thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, exacerbating water scarcity. Additionally, despite past relationships, both companies have been removed from the Water Council website.
3. UWM has repeatedly separated itself from the UWM Foundation, which is the entity responsible for disclosure and divestment. It should be noted that the Foundation operates solely for the benefit of the UWM and its staff and students. UWM has agreed to support students in expressing their requests for disclosure and divestment to the UWM Foundation. The university administration’s first step in this support is to facilitate a meeting between student representatives and the UWM Foundation within a 48 hour window of the agreement, which has been confirmed for Tuesday, May 14. We recognize that divestment is not an overnight process; however, our coalition will now turn its attention and focus to the Foundation in pursuit of divestment. We expect to come out of this first meeting with an agreed upon timeline for disclosure. Updates will be provided and appropriate action will be taken by the coalition and with support of the community.
4. We have confirmed that UWM does not have any active study abroad programs in Israel, and no contract with any Israeli university has been utilized since 2018. After sharing a plethora of evidence with the university about discriminatory and racist policies of Israel and after providing credible and flagrant examples of discriminatory Israeli policies, UWM will begin a thorough review of its Discriminatory Conduct Policy for all study abroad programs before moving forward with future trips. We are confident that this review process will effectively end all future study abroad trips to the apartheid state of Israel.
5. With regards to cutting ties with companies that do business with Israel, the university has invoked Wisconsin Statue Section 20.931, an unconstitutional law enacted by the pro-Israel community with the sole purpose of protecting the extremist Israeli regime. The law was passed in the State of Wisconsin during the tenure of Governor Scott Walker. We are focused on exploring all avenues of legislative and judicial pressure or litigation to change this law and revisit this issue. When this law is changed either through legislation or by the court system due to its unconstitutionality, our focus will immediately turn back to UWM.
6. UWM has repeatedly stated that this encampment is in violation of state law as well as the student code of conduct. While threatening disciplinary action multiple times throughout this process, the Chancellor and the Provost have agreed to forgo relevant citations and conduct violations for the students involved in the encampment since the purpose of the encampment was related to student protest of Israel’s genocide.
The Popular UWM university encampment, Falasteen Lawn, has been a phenomenal and historic step in the movement for ending complicity with an occupying and genocidal regime and working for a free Palestine. The encampment included student, anti-war, labor, and national liberation movements converging for a common cause. Our struggles are connected, and the Popular University for Palestine was the manifestation of this fact. The encampment was the first phase in our efforts. We will continue to communicate and negotiate with the university administration, with the UWM-Foundation and other stakeholders. We are determined to make sure UWM, our university, thrives educationally and financially based on moral and ethical programs, policies and investments.
To close, we want to acknowledge that Falasteen Lawn was a student protest, an emotional outlet for our grief and a labor of love. Throughout its existence, Israel has always sought to violently silence and censor the people of Gaza and the Palestinian people in general. Our goal was to be the voice of the people of Gaza and the conscience of our campus community. We wanted to be a voice for the over fifteen thousand Palestinian children who have been slaughtered by Israel. We wanted to be a voice for the thousands of murdered university students, professors, researchers and instructors. We wanted to be a voice standing up for humanity and human decency. The trauma that Israel and the local supporters of its genocidal war have inflicted on many of our students and their families is beyond comprehension.
We believe that our encampment was successful due to the coordinated efforts of an entire community composed of many religions, races and ethnicities. We are eternally grateful to the various community organizations, community members and local businesses that helped us maintain our encampment for two weeks. We thank our committed security team for keeping our encampment safe from outside extremists 24/7. We thank our supplies team for coordinating donations to keep our encampers warm and well-fed. We thank our community members who provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every single day for two weeks, without a single penny spent by students. We thank our logistics team for organizing programming for each day of our encampment. Our programming was amazing. Befitting a university setting, many of our programs were teach-ins about Gaza, Palestine and other parts of the world; about politics and race; about our diverse religious traditions, including Islam and Judaism; and so much more. We also want to thank our media and communications team for developing flyers, social media posts, and press releases.
This movement began with a few tents and ended as a robust family of people of many backgrounds and traditions united in the belief that we are all equal before God, that any regime based on ethno-religious supremacy and violence must not be supported or enabled, and that our schools and institutions must reflect moral and ethical values that recognize the humanity of all.
The Popular University for Palestine encampment was a space created by the community, for the community. Falasteen Lawn shows that we can all make a difference. We will continue to fight until the people of Gaza are free and all oppressed people are free. Peace be upon the people of Gaza. Peace be upon the martyrs. Peace be upon the people of Palestine.

Unlocking LinkedIn: Creative Tactics for Lead Generation
Tumblr media
LinkedIn is more than just a digital resume; it’s a bustling marketplace brimming with opportunities for those daring enough to think outside the box. While the basics are essential, a sprinkle of creativity can sometimes differentiate you from the crowd. Dive into these ingenious tactics to boost your lead generation on the platform:
Cold Messaging with a Twist: The cold approach isn’t new, but the secret lies in the delivery. Instead of launching into a sales pitch, why not start with value? Share a relevant article, a compliment about their recent work, or even a free tool. Your prospects will appreciate the non-pushy approach.
Profile Funneling: Your LinkedIn profile shouldn’t just be about past jobs; it should guide visitors toward a desired action. This could be visiting your website, subscribing to a newsletter, or dropping you a message. Craft your profile strategically to funnel visitors seamlessly.
Engage with Comments on Popular Posts: Visibility is the game. You can get your profile in front of a vast audience by commenting on popular industry posts. But remember, your comments should be insightful and add value to the conversation.
Run Thought-Provoking Polls: LinkedIn’s polling feature isn’t just for fun questions. Use it to generate insights, understand market needs, or spark a debate. Engaging in polls can set the stage for deeper conversations with participants.
Harness Advanced Search: This feature is a gold mine. Find prospects based on specific criteria such as job titles, locations, etc. Creating a targeted list can make your outreach more personalized and effective.
Dive into Video with Cover Story: With LinkedIn’s “Cover Story”, make a lasting first impression. Create a personalized video pitch that gives visitors a snapshot of who you are and how you can help.
Host LinkedIn Live Sessions: If you can access LinkedIn Live, you’re sitting on a treasure. Hosting live sessions, be it Q&As, webinars, or discussions, can attract a large, engaged audience.
Engage with Your New Followers: A simple “thank you” can go a long way. Reach out to new followers with a warm message. This can open the door for more profound interactions down the line.
Showcase Recommendations and Endorsements: Social proof is powerful. Encourage satisfied clients or colleagues to endorse your skills and pen down recommendations. This not only builds credibility but also showcases your expertise.
Launch a LinkedIn Newsletter: Regular updates, insights, and valuable content sent straight to your network can solidify your position as an industry thought leader.
Reconnect with Alumni: Old classmates or colleagues could be potential leads or offer referrals. Use LinkedIn’s Alumni feature to rekindle those connections.
Humanize with Employee Testimonials: Let your team share their stories. Employee testimonials humanize your brand and portray a positive company culture.
Collaborative Ventures: Partner with non-competing businesses on LinkedIn. Whether it’s sharing each other’s content, co-hosting webinars, or running promotions, collaboration can amplify your reach.

eJournal #1
In this journal entry, I will reflect on insights from the alumni panel at GBC. The three speakers: Monica Cardona, Vishal Sharma, and Bonnie Asani, gave perspectives on business communication, networking, and career development which made me introspect on my professional journey.
Monica emphasized the importance of business communication. Her discussion highlighted that effectively showcasing a product is key to making a lasting impression. This resonated with me, especially given my background as a multimedia designer, where communication is not just verbal but visual as well. My experience in UI/UX design at the Toronto Railway Museum further reinforced this idea. During my tenure, I worked on creating interactive digital displays that required me to translate complex information into engaging, user-friendly designs. It became evident that strong communication skills were just as crucial in design as they were in other business functions. The ability to present and "sell" a concept effectively could make or break a project. This is a lesson I will carry forward, knowing that refining my communication skills will enhance my ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to clients and stakeholders.
Vishal spoke about the power of networking and how creating a good first impression can be pivotal. His own experience of meeting someone through a co-op placement serves as a reminder that opportunities often arise through interpersonal connections. He also reiterated the importance of business communication, which further strengthens my belief that I must constantly work on honing my ability to convey ideas clearly and professionally. Given my experience in public relations at C&M Media in New York, I fully understand how essential it is to make meaningful connections. In that role, I had the opportunity to manage high-profile clients like Moncler and Missoni. I saw firsthand how developing strong relationships with clients and colleagues leads to collaborative success. Vishal’s insight, particularly about attending events, reminded me to continuously network, a practice that could open doors in ways I might not expect.
Bonnie’s advice centered around the value of mentorship and the importance of having the right resume. Her suggestion to keep your LinkedIn profile updated is particularly relevant today, as more employers seek to learn about candidates through online platforms. As a designer, my portfolio is central to how I market myself, so I’ve prioritized keeping both my LinkedIn profile and portfolio updated with recent work. Bonnie also spoke about the power of mentors—a concept that I’ve come to appreciate over time. I’ve benefited from mentors throughout my career, particularly during my certification in Interactive Media Management at George Brown College, where instructors provided invaluable guidance. Additionally, Bonnie’s emphasis on nurturing work relationships, even if they don’t result in immediate job offers, aligns with my own career experience. In my service coordinator role at Little Treasures, I learned that every interaction—whether with clients, colleagues, or potential employers—could yield long-term benefits, even if it didn’t produce immediate results.
Each speaker underscored a common theme: success often hinges on relationships, communication, and networking. For someone like me, whose career path spans content creation, marketing, and design, the importance of these soft skills cannot be overstated. As I continue to evolve in my field, I plan to integrate their advice into my career development strategy. Moving forward, I’ll prioritize attending networking events, maintaining strong relationships with peers, and honing my communication skills. These are not just tools for getting a job but essential skills for thriving in today’s interconnected, digital-first world.
In conclusion, the speakers’ advice has prompted me to think more strategically about how I approach my career. From ensuring I present my work clearly, to leveraging networks and maintaining relationships, each insight has helped me realize areas where I can improve. Their collective wisdom has influenced how I will shape my professional journey moving forward, particularly in making the most of the opportunities that come through communication and connection.
