HP Next Generation Appreciation Week - Day 5: Beach AU

Hello! This is my entry for the final day of @endlessly-cursed's HP next gen appreciation week! On this one, we're invited to share an idea of how a visit to the beach would go for our OCs!

Now Brian would love to spend a day on the beach! His favorite activity could be to play volleyball, tennis or badminton with friends. The kiddo likes the soft, loose texture of the sand. Nothing is better than cooling off in the wave on the hottest days, and he finds listening to the cries of the seagulls while lying on a mat on lounger relaxing. Maybe he'll also watch the horizon and see if he can catch a ship, sailboat, or even a plane or helicopter. Brian never saw himself as being a surfer, but he admires the sport.

The best time for him to go would be the later afternoon when the skies have the best potential to be beautiful and the temperature a little cooler. Brian's both adventurous and relaxed. He's ready to catch and enjoy the rushing feeling of the ocean breeze. It could be happening while he's reading a book or studying a map. And of course, he wouldn't hesitate to invite his dear Alyssa @mjs-oc-corner

Complaint! (Sara Ahmed, 2021) - necessary for anyone doing diversity work in higher education, tbh

America is Not the Heart (Elaine Castillo, 2018) - achingly gorgeous novel of heartbreak and healing.

The School for Good Mothers (Jessamine Chan, 2022) - honestly? I feel very good calling this my favorite book of the entire year. sensitive, smart, chilling.

Black Feminist Thought (Patricia Hill Collins, 1990) - truly ashamed to say I didn't read this sooner. Collins' clear-eyed analysis remains crazily spot-on 30+ years later.

Hurts So Good: The Science and Pleasure of Pain on Purpose (Leigh Cowart, 2021) - I read this book so early in 2022 and literally have not stopped thinking about it since.

Batman: King Tut's Tomb (Nunzio DeFillippis, Christina Weir, José Luis García-López, and Kevin Nowlan, 2009) - dare I say the most fun I had with a comic all year.

You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty (Akwaeke Emezi, 2022) - a romance unlike any other. queer, fun, sexy, bold as hell, and joyfully life-affirming.

The Dangers of Smoking in Bed (Mariana Enríquez, trans. Megan McDowell, 2021) - DELICIOUSLY creepy short stories that will lurk in your brain forever.

Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century (Kim Fu, 2022) - if a more perfect short story collection exists I am yet to find it.

The World We Make (N.K. Jemisin, 2022) - I normally hesitate to include sequels on a list like this, but god DAMN Jemisin is the queen of modern spec fic for a reason.

We Do This 'Til We Free Us: Abolitionist Organizing and Transforming Justice (Mariame Kaba, edited by Tamara K. Nopper, 2021) - excellent collection of Kaba's abolitionist writings, drawing on years of organizing experience and wisdom.

Jade City (Fonda Lee, 2017) - look out! new favorite doorstopper fantasy series alert!

Priestdaddy (Patricia Lockwood, 2017) - about the best damn memoir I've ever read. heartbreaking and hysterical in turns, poetry the whole way through.

Batman: The Long Halloween and Batman: Dark Victory (Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, 1996 and 1999) - it's always so exciting when something much-hyped lives up to the hype in every way. Batman at his grim and moody Batmaniest with a Gotham that’s deliciously bleak.

Station Eleven (Emily St. John Mandel, 2014) - I didn't think I'd like this book much at all, then ended up proposing on the second date. oops!

I'm Glad My Mom Died (Jennette McCurdy, 2022) - you will also be glad McCurdy's mom died, and also experience every other known human emotion along the way.

Kaikeyi (Vaishnavi Patel, 2022) - SPLENDID mythology retelling + political fantasy.

My Body (Emily Ratajkowski, 2022) - haunting haunting haunting personal essays about Ratajkowski's life as a model and subsequent alienation from her own body.

Batman: Bruce Wayne, Murderer? (Greg Rucka et al, 2002) - genuinely what can I say I'm a messy bitch and I love when the Bats are having a terrible time.

The Batman Adventures Vol. 2 #1-17 (created by Dan Slott, Ty Templeton, Rick Burchett, Terry Beatty, and Bruce Timm, 2003) - a continuation of the Batman: The Animated Series universe that frankly just fucking rules.

Little Rabbit (Alyssa Songsiridej, 2022) - a potent and erotic adult coming of age story.

The Right to Sex: Feminism in the Twenty-First Century (Amia Srinivasan, 2021) - thorny, difficult, vital essays.

Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia (Sabrina Strings, 2019) - jaw-droppingly thorough research into the role of fatpobia played and plays in the project of race-making.

If y'all know me,I'm trying to write my own TVDU crossover with AHS and other properties such as Teen Wolf,called the Millennium Of Hellfire.

The reason I'm writing this series,is because I'm tired of watching the characters of color and queer characters get shafted and shitted on while white characters get to be complex and given victimhood,when many are abusers and oppressors.So,for MOH,those characters such as Tyler Lockwood,get to live instead of dying in canon and have a happy ending.For my series,I created three oc characters that represent their species and their collective traumas:

Desmond Jameson

Marcos Corazón

Simon Quinn

The reason,I created them was because I was so tired of the treatment of their species,hell even the vampires,the Originals treated them horribly,and it just made my blood boil.But after watching Legacies,it just made the fire brighter and I started the Millennium Of Hellfire Series.

Each character has a past with the Mikaelsons since I don't really like the family and how their victims get treated like villains for getting their revenge for their cruelty.So,I started writing the Trio's stories.Each of them have a particular one in the family,that they consider their nemesis & the one that they share with similar traits with.

Desmond>Freya

Marcos>Klaus

Simon>Elijah

So,I decided to write a Legacies Rewrite with them as the mains instead of Hope Mikaelson and Landon Kirby.But that doesn't mean they aren't in the story,they are secondary mains.But the season 1 rewrite will deal with the monsters & Malivore along with the demons of Des's past so,we can get mythology such as the origin of witches and their ties with other beings such as demons,angels and deities.It also connects to other property's mythology such as Marcos's matriline being descended from Lycaon,the first Lycan,from Teen Wolf.

Also the idea of a black witch being one of the most powerful supernaturals,always gets me giddy since we got that in Bonnie,Vincent and Cleo,which is why Desmond will be the one that challenges Hope's beliefs around her family and the myth of her being the most powerful being in the world,since he is a Tribrid like her but he comes from a ethereal and infernal origin,while she is made up of the basic supernaturals.

The trio also are the living embodiment of the Generational Trauma that the Mikaelsons had afflicted over the centuries,which is one plot that I hated,Hope never had any beef with any of the students,who's family were killed by her family,so I was like,what if she had to deal with that?This story also centers their trauma and pain instead of Hope's constant belief that her dad was a good person with flaws,it really deals with the Legacies that these characters left for the next generation.

But this book also is more focused on what it means to be a minority in the supernatural world since let's be real,it's very white-centered and I'm so bored by it,so the characters of color are centered,so in this Kaleb and MG's sireing are told,which should have been in season one but we got Sebastian's whole origin and Alyssa is not seen as vile,she actually has a point.She was going to be sent to a prisoner world with Kai Parker as a child but God forbid,Josie kills someone oh wait she did and she was forgiven.

Klaus’s pov

Standing outside Raelyn’s bedroom I was quiet enough so that she couldn’t hear me. She was currently peacefully sleeping in her bed and I had decided to stay in the other room of the mansion. Clasping my hand together behind my back I turned my head confused seeing my wife stirring in her sleep. “What’s troubling her this time?”

I was aware she had nightmares after Jaocb died because of her family’s poor communication. But she should have nothing to fear now that he was alive as a heretic like she is. “Raelyn…” I whispered vamping over to her bedside about to touch her shoulder.

“Urgh!” She winced but I drew my hand back before I even had the chance to touch her. Shifting my gaze it took me a second before I saw her shoulder turn red and there was a hand touching her back clearly siphoning her.

Clicking my tongue I snagged the wrist that was siphoning her and the person winced when I growled quietly under my breath. “Show yourself witch!”

“Uncle Klaus, stop it.” I recognized the voice of Elizabeth Saltzman who revealed herself visibly to me quickly.

Another voice also came to the surface showing me Josie. “We were trying to bring her memories back.”

“I didn’t tell you to do anything of the sort!” I accidentally raised my tone of voice hearing my wife tossing in her sleep so I focused my attention back to the siphon twins. “Whose idea was this exactly?”

Lizzie rolled her eyes slightly. “I don’t know why Hope thought this was gonna work.”

“Gather whoever else came up with this ridiculous plan and meet me down at the old Lockwood cellar immediately.” I declared to the girls before they left the room. Running my fingers through my curls I sighed heavily in frustration not wanting them to do any spells on her. The only thing they should be focusing on is getting the Hollow’s magic out of Alyssa so then I could handle her accordingly on my own terms. It took them a lot longer than I cared for but half of them are mortals and don’t have super speed like most of us. Shoving my hands inside my black jacket I heard multiple heartbeats entering the abandoned cellar. “You’re late. I thought I made it clear that this meeting was urgent.”

“Sorry if one of us is pregnant and also we didn’t want to wake Rapunzel and Charming in the middle of the night.” Alina crossed her arms over her chest wearing one of Jackson’s shirts and some baggy pants.

Missy rubbed the sleep from her eyes. “Why the late night emergency meeting dad. Is it another Malivore monster?”

“Stop playing dumb, girls. I found the Saltzman’s in your mother’s room. So tell me what you think is okay to bring back your mother’s memories back without asking me.” Throwing my hands away from my sides I flashed my werewolf eyes at Lizzie and Josie who were standing in the corner.

Hope remained by the cellar exit leaning against the wall. “Yeah it was my idea dad but can you blame me after knowing how mom changed you. We’ve all read Dr. Saltzman’s journals on you before she came into your life.”

“That doesn’t give you the right to not ask my permission first.” I snapped back at her.

Lizzie scoffed towards her uncle. “We’re not kids anymore. We’ve done a lot of stuff without my fathers permission.”

“Lizzie.” Josie whispered under her breath.

Glaring at the twins I growled not liking how this conversation was going at this point. Straightening my back I moved my gaze between my daughters and my supposed nieces. “You may be or almost be adults but it doesn’t mean that you get to do whatever you wish. We are all working together to make your mother fall in love with me…again.”

Missy eyed at me silently for a second slowly walking forward until we were standing almost chest to chest. “Dad, don’t yell at me but you’re afraid that she might not fall in love with you again aren’t you?”

“That’s completely ridiculous, Melissa.” Rolling my eyes I was in disbelief.

The heretic teenager spoke up again. “No it has to be true, dad. Why else would you say we can help but when we try, you get all bent out of shape.”

“Because it's a risk if she never loves me again.” I spat at the group.

Alina shakes her head at me. “So we're just supposed to cross our fingers and pray that you can charm her all over again for the fun of it. All along when we know that Josie can do a memory spell and she can return to her old self with no problems.”

“We have no clue if that spell is strong enough to undo what the Hollow’s magic did.” Dropping my hands at my sides I sighed heavily leaning against the cold wall. “I don’t want to say goodbye to her…she's the only woman I have ever loved.”

Lizzie put her hands on her hips. “That’s sweet. But we should do something to bring her back.”

“She's right, Uncle Klaus. But I understand if you want her to at least trust you before we do a memory spell on her.” Josie points out softly.

Hope shifted her gaze upward to me crossing her arms over her chest not saying anything for a few minutes. “I don’t think this is necessary to my previous plan but you're the one who knows our mother best so I guess we have no choice but to go with your plan dad.”

“Good that's settled then. I'll make your mother fall in love with me on my own terms.” Clasping my hands together I vamped off and the kids all headed back to the school until the sun would rise in a few hours. But unknown to the group Josie’s spell had started making an effort on Raelyn Lane-Mikaelson.

Raelyn’s pov

Walking through the streets of Mystic Falls I was wearing a long tan coat, a red sweater, some blue jeans and brown boots. Tying my hair up in a ponytail just taking a morning stroll by myself. I didn’t sleep very well last night feeling something poking around in my head and so I couldn't sleep which made me decide to get up and take a walk. I was about to enter the grill until pain shot through my head where I stumbled against the brick wall leaning against it seeing some odd images flashing through my mind.

Pushing the door open with my foot I shake my head giggling at him sitting at the bar. “What makes you think of coming here of all places, Niklaus?”

Klaus sat down on a barstool holding up a glass of bourbon and he tilted his head down at the drink for me. “This particular place is special to you and I. This is the first place we ever met one another.”

“I remember every detail. I launched you into that wall with my magic.” I climbed up on my barstool picking up my drink taking a long sip still smiling longingly at him

Nik tilted his head to the side smirking. “And it hurt very much, love. All for asking you for your name.”

“Now we are married and have four kids. We’re certainly a long way from the big bad wolf.” Raising my glass I clonked it with his when he responded back to me grinning

“And his siphon Gemini runaway. I love you, Raelyn. Always have and always will..” He leans forward pressing his lips against mine softly sitting his glass down he cupped my face in his hands deepening the kiss.

Wrapping my arms around his neck I kissed him back smiling into the kiss. I savor the feeling remembering the night we met so clearly and I was proud to see where I was now. “I love you too, Klaus. Always have and always will.”

Sliding down the brick wall beside me I groaned, feeling a rather bad headache shooting through my forehead. “What the hell is happening to me?” I mumbled to myself gripping the ends of my hair in between my fingers.

“Raelyn.” Someone called my name but I clutched my eyes shut seeing another memory that must be fake because I don’t know the hybrid that everyone thinks I supposedly do.

I giggled moving it out of my view seeing that he was hovering above me now and we were still close like we were before. Raising my hands over my head I laid them on the pillow frozen looking at him like this. “Klaus!….”

“Don’t test the wolf in me, Ms, Lane. You won’t be able to beat me.” His blue eyes were brighter than I had ever seen up until this moment. He had a kind smile on his lips that made it almost impossible to not grin as big as he was

I smirked a small grin testing this playful side in him that I had yet to see come to the surface so I was going to enjoy it for as long as possible. When he was happy it made all my fears disappear and made me forget that I was on the run from my entire family of witches. “And what would you do to me hmm?”

“Now you're insisting on a challenge, love.” He leaned his head down to mine where my heart quickened thinking he was going to kiss me until I felt his hand move to my sides beginning to tickle me on my hip and I couldn’t run away since he had me pinned between the bed and him

I pushed my hands against his chest trying to squirm out of his grasp but I wasn’t trying as hard when I heard a beautiful laugh come from his lips. “Klaus…no…stop. I can’t handle….being tickled. Nik….Niklaus!”

“Do you cave yet?” He asked, making our eyes finally lock onto one another.

Pushing my hands against his chest I gently shoved him off scooting upright onto the pillows behind me. “Yes I cave. I’m going to get my revenge one day.”

“Oh I’ll be pleased to see you try, Rae.” He flopped down on his side of the bed placing his hands behind his head smiling

Feeling a hand touch my shoulder I flinched using my speed and grabbing their wrist shoving whoever it was against the wall. The person grunted, croaking out my name once more to gain my attention. “Ra…Raelyn, it’s me.”

“Why are you here, Cami? I thought your permanent resistance was New Orleans.” I snapped at the blonde bartender in front of me holding her by her throat and if she was still human she would be gasping for air.

She gasped but held onto the wrist of the hand that was around her throat. “Your kids called me asking for my help.”

“I don’t need you to be my therapist.” I flashed my fangs at her. “I’m not troubled with demons or anything.”

“But your mind is fighting against what you should be feeling for your husband. You know that you should feel something for him. I can see it in your eyes.” She explained it to me.

Rolling my eyes at one of my sired vampires. “You may have that fancy degree but you don’t know what I’m feeling. You don’t know what it’s like to see memories of someone you don’t recognize. You don’t know how frustrating it is when everyone keeps telling you that you are this person's other half. All the while not being able to believe the things they say because of a damn spell from a witch that we killed years ago that somehow came back and wanted to make me suffer. But please Camille go on and tell me how I feel because you can see inside my mind!”

“Raelyn, I….I’m sorry. I know your kids have good intentions but I won’t make you suffer anymore today.” The bartender responded when I released my nails from her throat and she collapsed onto her knees quickly getting to her feet in front of me.

Crossing my arms over my chest I nodded to her in respect, turning on my heels and starting to walk away from the women. “Thank you for understanding. I’ll be sure to visit more often and thanks for not making me use the sire bond on you. I’ll see you around New Orleans.”

“I’m sorry about this, Raelyn.” I heard her mumbling under her breath with my heightened hearing but wasn’t fast enough before she vamped behind me. She held tightly onto my hair and stuck some needle into my neck where my eyes got heavy and she lowered our bodies to the sidewalk.

Gripping her forearms I was struggling to stay awake with the amount of vervain in my system. “You helped him trick me!”

Yet before she could say anything more her hair went flying around and her neck was snapped right in front of me. Blinking my eyes I could barely keep myself awake and my mind was running slow but I could tell who had ever killed her shortly. Klaus’s blue eyes were trained on me with him offering his hand that I reluctantly put mine in. He tugged me upwards seeing my body go limp from the vervain finally leaving me in his embrace. “Before you think I had anything to do with this I’ll say I had no idea. Just know all I ask is that you trust me.” My right hand wrapped around the dog tag necklace he wore and he knew that was a small sign of trust before he picked my unconscious body up bridal style vamping us back to the old Mikaelson mansion.

SYNOPSIS- WHAT HAPPENS WHEN LUCY AND ALYSSA’S MOTHER TURNS UP AT THE AGENCY TO BRING THEM HOME TO THE SHITTY TOWN THEY CALL HOME? 

ALYSSA’S POV

Our mother had turned up at the agency 20 minutes ago. She had told Luce and I to go ‘Pack up all of our shit because we were going home.’ Lucy started to argue back but I grabbed her arm and dragged her up to the attic so she could pack her stuff up. She was crying not wanting to leave Lockwood and Co because it had become our home. I told her to wait up there. I was the oldest twin so I had to stand up to my mother more. ‘Mother where the fuck are you? You bitch. Making Luce and I leave the only real home we have ever known.’ I screamed through the house. My mother rounded the counter faster than light and slapped my face. ‘Say that again, I fucking dare you!’ she screamed as she spat in my face. ‘I fucking said mother where the fuck are you? You bitch. Making Luce and I leave the only real fucking home we have ever known.’ I screamed back louder. She slapped me again. Harder this time. ‘You useless piece of shit! You know that right? You’re a piece of shit and a fucking murderer both you and that piece of shit twin you call your sister!’ Lockwood had rounded the corner almost instantly after she said this and drew his rapier to her throat. ‘Stay away from my fucking girlfriend! Get out now!’ Lockwood shouted. My mum visibly flinched. ‘Lyssa, I see you’re a slag now too!’ I flinched at her words. I looked over to Lockwood. He had visibly gotten angrier. ‘Alyssa, Baby. Why don’t you go upstairs into our room and throw on some pj’s today is a chill day. No missions. I’ll be up in a sec just gotta deal with some filth.’ He glared at my mother and kissed my forehead. I took one last glance at my mother and waltzed upstairs.

LOCKWOOD’S POV

‘RIGHT YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT! YOU WILL LET MY DAUGHTER’S COME HOME RIGHT NOW OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE FOR A KIDNAPPING!’ I felt my blood boil at this. How dare she hit my girlfriend twice and call her a slag in front of me. ‘NO! YOU WILL LISTEN HERE MISS CARLYLE! YOU EVER FUCKING DARE TO EITHER COME TO MY AGENCY OR TALK TO EITHER OF YOUR DAUGHTER’S EVER AGAIN AND I WILL HAVE YOU ARRESTED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND MORE. SO GET OUT OF MY FUCKING HOUSE NOW!’ I shouted back how dare she fucking insult her daughter like that she has been through so much shit. ‘I SAID GET OUT!’ She still didn’t budge. ‘YOU HAVE FIVE SECONDS BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE! 5, 4, 3…’ Their mother was out of the house by then. I apologised to George then walked upstairs towards my room. To my surprise there was sniffling and sobbing coming from inside. I opened the door and again to my surprise Lyssa was there sobbing her heart out. 

LUCY’S POV

I walked down from the attic to see my sister run into her and Lockwood’s shared bedroom and start to whimper. I ran in there ignoring the screaming match drifting up the stairs from the front hallway. I grabbed a cold flannel from the bathroom and placed it on my sister's face to soothe the pain. ‘Thanks Luce’ she whimpered as I dabbed the flannel onto her face. I moved towards Lockwood’s closet and pulled out one of Lockwood's hoodies and a pair of his grey joggers. I let my sister get changed before coming back into the room and giving her a book to read. 'There you go Lyssa. I got you your favourite.'

ALYSSA'S POV

Luce was being really kind in distracting me from the chaos from outside. She had me curled up underneath Lockwood's duvet. I heard the front door open and slam shut. I flinched at that. Luce placed her hand on my shoulder as the tears began to build. The screaming had stopped. That's when I let it all out. All the sobs. All the tears. I let them all out. The tears flooded my eyes as Lockwood walked into the room. He saw that I was crying and ran up to me. He threw himself on top of me. His arms wrapped around my torso. I wrapped mine around his head. Lucy walked out of the room to give us space. He kissed my torso. He then lifted himself up on his elbows to kiss all over my face. 'It's going to be okay darling. We will get through this. You won't ever see your mother again.'  I started crying even more. Lockwood picked me up bridal style and took me down to the Kitchen. 'Take as many biscuits as you want.' He mumbled to me as he made the biscuits. 'What about the….?' ' Fuck the one biscuit at a time rule!' Lockwood seems really agitated. 'Your mum's a bitch isn't she!?' Lockwood muttered as he sat beside me. I just nodded to him and he kissed my cheek.

LOCKWOOD’S POV 

I hate that Alyssa and Luce had to go through all this bs with their mother. I made Lyssa my Lockwood's hot choc special. It always makes her smile. That's what she needs. She takes the hot choc with a smile and a nod. She finishes the drink in like 20 seconds. She seems happy though. 'Hey love, why don't we bake a cake for everyone?' Either one  would be fine baby girl. But do you want to make cake tomorrow?' I nod eagerly like a child just asked if they want to go and get McDonald's. She just giggles. 'Thank you Anthony, you make me feel safe when I'm with you. Especially after today and the mansion incident. That wasn't your fault. I hope you know that.' Lyssa was speaking softly. Just like she did before she fell asleep. I picked her  around my neck and legs around my waist. I walked upstairs and laid her down on my bed whilst I got changed into pj's. I looked at the time 00:00 am.  I looked down to see Lyssa passed out on the bed. 'Happy birthday my love' I whispered to her as I pulled her close and fell asleep almost instantly as my head hit my pillow.

Flames'  note- so this is so fucking cute. I'm feeling like shit mentally and physically. But I wrote this to try and finish up the series. I want to do like a couple of more chapters just focusing on Alyssa’s and Lockwood’s mental health. So hope y'all enjoyed and will blow this up <3

HP Next Generation Appreciation Week 2024 - Days 1 & 2

Hi everyone! I was busy yesterday, so I decided to combine my first and second entries for @endlessly-cursed's HP Next Gen appreciation week event.

Day one covers an OC belonging to you that you consider your favorite. I just have my boy Brian Haywood-Reese, so I will share a bit on what I like about him. He's been a quidditch aficionado since he was little. Young Brian has watched the games, kept memorabilia, and had dreams of playing for Hogwarts and later for a pro team when he grows up. He is a big believer in good sportsmanship and teamwork, ready to help people in need and very loyal to his mates. However, that also makes it easier for him to be swayed by bullies and rivals who play dirty into doing things such as unsanctioned races out of pressure to preserve his good name. Brian was afraid of his reputation being destroyed by rumors and gossip, so he fell for such challenges. However, he learns to stand up for himself more and is dedicated to building his own strengths and academics, becoming more confident in the process.

Today focuses on another person's OC that is your favorite. My choice has got to be my good friend @mjs-oc-corner/@clovermunson's Alyssa Lockwood. Not only is she the love of Brian's life, she's very driven to learn while looking out for her family and friends. Alyssa can stay at something for a while, whether it be class or being there for someone feeling down. A compassionate and kindhearted Ravenclaw, she also has a beautiful cat named Star with white fur who can be very soft and soothing. Alyssa fervently supports her friends in their endeavors, and you can always count on her if you need a friend to study with or just cheer you on. She may get deep into her work and seem distant from other things going on around her, but it’s never out of ill-intent and Alyssa has just as much fun getting out and spending time in the nice warm weather on a sunny day.

“Just one more page, please?” Alyssa looked up from the page with a smile, one that she knew would get Brian to cave and let her read a little more.

“Alright.” Brian slid the bookmark from his back pocket across the table to her, a smirk on his face, as he knew he’d lost, “one more page and then we’re off to class. There’s no way I’m leaving you behind.”

“Deal. I get one more page and then you won’t have to worry about finding something else other than me or the subject to focus on during history of magic.” Alyssa gave a coy smirk, her eyes diverting back to the page she was reading.
