Trump’s Ukraine Wake-up Call: Points He’s Now Making Are What Russia Said All Along

When A War is Built On Lies, Making Peace Will Hurt The Liars

Let’s play a game: It’s called “Putin says, and so does Trump.” Because, recently, after years of disagreeing on, really, everything – from the order of the world to the meaning of simple phrases such as “not one inch” – the leaderships of Russia and the US have suddenly found not merely a common language, but a lot to agree on.

In particular regarding Ukraine, which used to be the Ground Zero of their great disagreement. That’s a good thing in case you wonder. As in, the good things that keep the world from burning, literally. The US president has just observed that World War III had become a real possibility under the preceding Biden/Harris (or whoever was really in charge) administration. And he’s correct: There’s a reason why the metaphorical fingers of the famous Doomsday Clock of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists have crept “closer than ever” to “midnight.”

Now, the American president agrees with the Russian one that Ukraine’s leader Vladimir Zelensky is one election short. Indeed, in a withering social media post, Trump has been blunt: Zelensky is a “dictator.”

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin also see eye to eye concerning the root cause of the Ukraine War, namely NATO’s – that is, let’s be frank, America’s – predictably catastrophic yet perniciously obstinate policy of overreach. That in turn, means Trump and Putin also share a sensible and rather traditional assumption which – somehow – many in the West’s elites have managed to forget: namely that all great powers have legitimate security interests in their neighborhood.

With thinking in Washington and Moscow converging this far, it is no wonder that there is agreement now as well on centering their relationship on sensible and mutually respectful dialogue on national interests.

And speaking of national interests, Trump has been clear that he can’t recognize any in sinking ceaseless billions into the Zelensky regime, its war, and its humungous corruption. True, the American president may have gotten his precise figures wrong, but for all the NAFO-id “fact-checkers” (i.e. info-warriors) out there: Don’t be silly: Trump’s key point stands, whether the US has wasted 500 or somewhere between 100 and 200 billion dollars on this bloody and stupid business.

So does, by the way, his characterization of Zelensky as a “dictator.” I know, for many in the West it feels like root canal extraction to finally face that reality, but the Zelensky regime is authoritarian and its leader had no right to give himself a waver on his last election. Therefore, his term ran out on 20 May 2024. Since then, like it or not, Zelensky’s legitimacy has at the very best been in an extremely murky gray zone. Moreover, he did not turn so bossy because of the military escalation of February 2022. In reality, his many prewar opponents and critics in Ukraine were accusing him – correctly – of severe authoritarian tendencies in 2021 already.

And make no mistake: this is not a “soft” authoritarianism. It hasn’t “merely” muzzled the media, as even the staunchly bellicist New York Times has admitted. Instead, this is a regime with teeth and claws and a great appetite for harsh repression. Ask the members supportterts of the 11 - yes: 11 - opposition parties the Zelensky regime has long suppressed. Or the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) that has simply been banned. There are also individuals suppressed by police-state methods and even murdered in detention. Consider the cases of, for instance, the socialist activist Bohdan Syrotiuk, currently being subjected to a political trial, and the libertarian Gonzalo Lira, a US citizen and social media journalist, whom Ukrainian authorities tortured and killed for his criticism of the proxy war and the Zelensky regime (and also robbed him).

As should be clear by now, Trump and Putin and more broadly Russia and the US are not agreeing because of some dark Russian information war magic. Zelensky’s silly – and very arrogant – attempt to depict the American president as a helpless victim of Moscow’s “disinformation” only made Trump even angrier. And rightly so. Because the reason for the new spirit of agreement between Washington and Moscow is simple: Regarding Ukraine, the US government under Trump has rediscovered reality.

That reality includes another fact Kiev hates to hear about: Russia, in Trump’s words, has “the cards” in the war. True again: Moscow does have the upper hand on the ground, and any negotiation that aims to actually end this senseless war will have to start from that reality. If not, the war won’t end.

It is true that there are rumors – partly due to Germany’s Annalena “360 Degrees” Baerbock not mastering the diplomatic art of discretion (surprise!) – about insane EU-European ideas of pumping another 700 billion euros into the meatgrinder. But Euro-fantasies tend to fall short. And even if they don’t this time, all that would happen is making the EU’s economic malaise much deeper and Ukraine’s defeat much worse.

In that regard, let’s not overlook something simple but very important about Trump’s harsh approach to Zelensky and his regime: As US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has highlighted on Fox News, the US president is exerting pressure to speed up the process of ending the war by diplomacy. About that, Trump is, of course, absolutely right, because every single day of fighting is completely superfluous. This war should not only never have happened, it is also over. For those not blinded by wishful thinking and ideology, the result is clear: Russia has won. The sooner this futile madness finally ends, the more Ukrainians – and Russians, too – won’t be killed, injured, or maimed for life in a fight that does not even have a prospect of making a difference.

Trump’s political opponents are, of course, trying to exploit this moment, namely by shouting “betrayal!” Such as senator Richard Blumenthal from the Democratic Party, for instance. For good measure, the senator also denounced the president’s actions as “utterly despicable” and “disgusting.” Trump, he charged, has disregarded the “truth” and the “sacrifice of brave [Ukrainian] men and women who are upholding their freedom and ours.”

Really? Let’s talk about the truth then: In reality, Ukrainians have been sacrificed indeed, but not for anyone’s “freedom.” Instead they have been used as cannon fodder in a proxy war that was explicitly designed to inflict a strategic, that is, crippling defeat on Russia. Ukraine has been devastated but not for any noble values, whether “freedom,” “democracy,” or even gay parades and mixed bathrooms. Ukraine has been sacrificed, as so many before, in a US play for geopolitical advantage.

Trump is right to pull the plug on all of this. And he is right to stop babying Zelensky and his regime. And he is right to agree with Putin where both simply agree with reality.

saad kareem had 2 children with his late wife. she died when the youngest, zakariya, was five years old. until that age, ariya remembers saad to be kind and loving, but afterwards he was not-all-there. he threw himself into his work, went back for his phd in biomedical engineering, and quickly climbed the ranks into the c-suite of apex biomedical

ariya's older brother, amar, was always smarter, more talented, and overall more beloved by their father. ariya hypothesizes it's because amar is the splitting image of saad, while ariya sees more similarities to their mother. womp womp part two.

nothing ariya ever did really pleased saad, even when he did everything that amar did because then he was just 'jealous and copying his older brother' boooo... amar went to oxford, ariya went to oxford, amar got an mba, ariya got an mba.

amar went to jail for insider trading, ariya is sitting pretty in his corner office. haha!

we're skipping ahead too fast. long story short ariya refused to get help from his dad to get work and ends up finding his way into an internship and entry level job at comoedia and became very very close to some people in order to climb ranks there. he left after a couple years because he was offered a much better position at bulletin broadcasting, and very easily cut off his so called 'friends' at comoedia.

around the same time that zakariya got his position as cmo, amar was caught for insider trading at apex. ariya knows that he's taking the fall for their dad, who it most likely actually was, and is actually very bitter about that because like wtf how dare you do basically the ultimate sacrifice for the man that didn't raise them. anyway.

is zak happy with his current title? yes and no… he wants to prove something to his father but still isn't sure what. his dad is in the c-suite of a prolific biomedical company and has always touted zak's elder brother's success. mind you, said elder brother went to jail for insider trading but that's neither here nor there.

zak absolutely wants a promotion. he feels that, despite being cmo, that the title is somehow below him. is he doing anything to prove that he deserves a promotion? hell no. wants one, doesn't want to put in the work for it. he ended up at bulletin as a director of marketing through a combination of manipulation and nepotism and hasn't put in as much work into this job since getting into an executive level position.

he is absolutely proud of himself! look at where he is! executive member of a bulletin subsidiary! and look at his brother! rotting in white collar prison! zakariya wins again! good for him! (mind you, he is unbearably unhappy and unfulfilled. he has little to no real personal relationships, he doesn't care about his job as much as he should, his dad still won't look at him properly, but he doesn't do anything to change any of this.)

BrAmHa B or Brother Amitabh Harivansh Rai Bachchan is the living legend of Hindi Cinema.. 

Some facts about the Man in a sort of a chronological sequence.. though not always with dates or years..

October 11 1942 - Birth - Born as the first son of Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan at Allahabad (Now Prayagraj)

Attended Sherwood College Nainital -  First introduction to Stage acting

Graduated in Science from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University 

Served at Kolkata probably as a an executive at Blue Bird 

Ajitabh pushes him to join Madhuri contest to join films (probably the same year as Rajesh Khanna is picked and he is not)

Comes to Bombay to try his luck in Hindi film Industry.. Khwaja Ahmad Abbas gives him his first chance to prove his worth with Saat Hindustani

November 1969 The first film wins him a national award

Many producers and directors turn him down stating ‘ Kaise baans jaise log bhi actor banane chale  aate hain ‘ 

1971 Hrishikesh Mukherjee cast him as Babu Moshay or Dr.Bhaskar Banerjee  in Anand along with Superstar Rajesh Khanna who was suffering from Cancer.. Wins his second national award.. I think as best supporting actor

Luck still does not favor him much films after films bear the label of flops including Bansi Birju with Jaya Bhaduri who had established herself as a great natural actor in Guddi with Hrishi Da.. 

The stories say he had almost decided to quit and return and  had spent a night at Nariman Point benches (hearsay, I have no proof) when comedy star Mehmood took him home and made Bombay to Goa casting him in lead role opposite Aruna Irani

1973 Zanjeer released - He tastes the first success in a role which was turned down by quite a few heroes siting anti-hero image.. It seems pran sahab suggested Prakash Mehra to try it out with Amitabh Bachchan .. it unshackled his career like nothing before.. 

June 1973 Married Jaya Bhaduri at the request of his parents who permitted him to go with her for a vacation only if they could first marry.. 

Abhimaan and Namak Haraam established the Angry young man Image

Deewaar and Sholay with scripts from Salim-Javed launch him into superstardom at par with Rajesh Khanna or I would say even ahead of him that year.. as he also gave Chupke Chupke and Mili with Hrishi da in the same year

Yash Chopra experimented with him in Kabhi Kabhie to cast him into a romantic image.. the title song by Mukesh topped the charts at Binaca Geetmala

Manmohan Desai cast him in big budget film Amar Akbar Anthony along with Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor in the title roles a film of lost and found sons it was a great blockbuster and set the trends for multistar films  

1978 Don did so well in the times of mutistarrer films that he could pull up success with anything he touched .. The same year Trishul and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar also turned out to be mega blockbusters.. in spite of the fact that they were released within a short span of each other

His first decade ended on a high note with such success stories as mentioned above.. He was considered almost a sure shot for the success of a film

‘Mere Paas aao Mere Doston’ - Recorded first song as a playback singer for himself in Mr. Natwarlal

Yash Chopra cast him in a great film ‘Kaala Patthar’ without a single song for him and I consider it as one of the top films for him.. in fact he had not been offered many dialogues either .. his temperament alone made his role click so well

Real life rumors or stories of his affair with Rekha were weaved into a great film Silsila in 1981 by Yash Ji.. who must be said to be a director who really brought out the best in him besides Hrishi da

He is injured on the sets of ‘Coolie during a fight scene with Punit Issar and battles for life.. I think if I am right he was declared dead in some newspapers or bulletins only to be revived by doctors at Breach Candy Hospital.. His fans and family celebrate 2nd August as his second birth.. life after death.. too dramatic

During his battle for life producers and directors would often be going through anxious moments that had invested too heavily on him.. he was the most successful actor and superstar.. 

India and Indians prayed for his life in different places of worship.. here was a man who was above all cast and creed and would make his way into the hearts of millions of Indians of all ages

I conclude this first innings of his career slightly beyond the first decade of his life in Hindi film industry.. probably eight of my top 10 favorite films are from this first innings of his career.. he still acts and acts quite well at that.. Black 2005  and Piku much later are the only other two films which make into my top 10 fllms.. and not find a mention here

A really short research that deserves to be deepened: Stipple Master

Around the years 1692–98, the Stipple Master served as painter to Prince Amar Singh (the future Maharana Amar Singh II). In this work—as in many others by the Stipple Master—Amar Singh II appears naked to the waist. Particularly apparent is the artist’s use of a hierarchical ordering that depicts the prince larger than the attendant ladies of the zenana.

Compte-rendu de la réunion de l'EAP du 12 octobre 2020

Présents : Abbé Guillaume Caous, Maryvonne Arzul, Rémi Ban, Véronique de Beauregard, Sandrine Colin, Jacques Couvreur, Cathie Guillo, Marie-Laure Quillévéré.

L'entrée en réunion s'est faite dans la prière.

I – Le Caté

La rentrée diocésaine, le 3 octobre 2020 à Saint-Brieuc, organisée par la Pasto-Jeunes

Le bilan de la Pasto-Jeunes, réalisé par le diocèse, est à venir.

Voici le bilan de la paroisse de Tréguier :

Le contenu était décevant : il y avait peu de caractère catéchétique.

Les jeunes ont beaucoup apprécié la veillée avec le concert d'Avelig. Mais est-ce suffisant pour une rentrée pastorale ?

Trop d'écart d'âge entre les participants (de la 5e à 25 ans), et les activités n'étaient pas toujours adaptées à l'âge des participants.

Cela ne s'est pas très bien passé au niveau de l'organisation : la préparation en amont n'a pas touché les paroisses en dehors de celles de Saint-Brieuc. Les accompagnateurs venant des autres paroisses manquaient d'informations, n'ayant pas été inclus dans le projet.

La paroisse de Tréguier ne reviendra pas une autre année dans ces conditions : pour 35 jeunes, le dimanche caté a été remplacé par cette journée qui ne leur pas apporté un contenu catéchétique substantiel.

Les inscriptions au caté

Le nombre est semblable à celui de l'an passé (96 enfants inscrits). Il est à noter que le courrier envoyé aux familles des baptisés ayant l'âge du caté a rapporté une inscription.

Les confirmands pour les deux années et le dîner des 3F

Les 35 confirmands seront divisés en 2 groupes pour le dîner 3F et la veillée (le groupe de ceux qui auraient dû être confirmés en 2020 et ceux de 2021). Mariette Mignard viendra rencontrer les groupes pour la prochaine soirée pour témoigner de ses différents engagements dans l'aumônerie hospitalière.

Les projets

Les séminaristes qui avaient prévu de venir à la Saint-Yves de Tréguier en 2020 reviendront-ils en 2021 ? Ils devaient encadrer la veillée de la Saint-Yves des Jeunes. Ils pourraient assurer l'accueil et l'animation avant la veillée du 15 mai.

Peut-on organiser des mini-camps avec les jeunes (3 nuits maximum) ?

Le groupe HOLI, groupe de rock chrétien, est invité à la veillée des jeunes.

Pourrait-on faire venir l'abbé Pierre Amar pour la Saint-Yves ou dans un autre cadre ?

II – La Toussaint

les prières au cimetière ont trouvé leurs célébrants : Guillaume Caous, Loïc Quellec, Louis Caroff pour les prêtres, Guy Fèvre et Patrick-Charles Franqueville pour les diacres, Xavier Le Flem, Eugène Salic, Thérèse Jamet, Lucien Paranthoën, Ange Guyomard et Lucienne Paranthoën pour les laïcs. Merci à eux.

Une messe de réconciliation aura lieu à la chapelle Saint-Marie-Madeleine le jeudi 29 octobre à 18 h, suivie d'absolutions individuelles.

Le chauffage de la cathédrale est prévu après le Petit Pardon de Saint-Yves.

III – La préparation des fêtes de Noël

La réunion paroissiale

Il n'y aura pas de réunion paroissiale à Pleubian à l'issue de la messe communautaire à cause de la pandémie.

Peut-on réaliser une consultation paroissiale par mail, avec parution des questions sur la feuille paroissiale ? Nous devons y réfléchir pour la prochaine EAP. Ensuite il faudra expliquer dans les églises le bien fondé de ce questionnaire.

Une idée suggérée, à l'images des petites fraternités locales qui avaient déjà été préconisées par notre Synode diocésain : constituer des petits groupes à domicile pour discuter de l'évangile de saint Marc (nouvelle année liturgique) pendant l'Avent.

Les animations

Premiers contacts pris avec des animatrices de chorales. Il faut contacter d'autres personnes. L'idée est de mélanger des chants de Noël d'église et des chants familiaux. A la cathédrale, la crèche utilisera tout l'espace de la chapelle des Fonts baptismaux. Nous nous mettrons devant en modifiant la place des chaises. La messe aura lieu à 17 h à la cathédrale et les chants à 18 h.

Les messes de Noël

la messe du 24 décembre à 18 h aura lieu à Prat et non à La Roche-Derrien comme annoncé dans le dernier compte-rendu de l'EAP.

La messe de 19 h 30 le 24 est maintenue à la cathédrale pour des raisons de distanciation. La Psallette n'assurera pas la veillée de Noël. La crèche vivante habituelle à Penvénan pourrait avoir lieu à la cathédrale. Il faut prévenir les jeunes mamans concernées.

IV – Suivi des projets en cours

les dîners paroissiaux que l'EAP voudraient lancer sont repoussés pour le 1er trimestre 2021 à cause de la pandémie.

Si le friko prévu fin janvier ne peut avoir lieu, on pourrait le remplacer par des déjeuners de 8 à 10 personnes dans des familles volontaires… A voir.

la récollection des membres de l'EAP. Le projet a peu avancé.

V - En dehors de la paroisse

Retour sur la réunion de la zone pastorale de Lannion (18 septembre dernier) :

A cette réunion, les 5 paroisses ont partagé ce qu'ils avaient vécu pendant l'été : beaucoup de monde dans les églises, mais depuis la rentrée, il semblerait que de nombreux habitués ne soient pas revenus à une présence paroissiale… en cause, la peur de la contagion ? Le confort de la télévision ? Ou le désamour ? Certains ont proposé plus de messes de rentrée (Lannion), des cérémonies pour prier pour les décès pendant le confinement (Plouaret). Les célébrations dans les EHPAD et les hôpitaux reprennent au cas par cas.

Lannion renouvelle la proposition de rencontre pour les malades et les accompagnants pour la fête de Notre-Dame de Lourdes. La messe et le sacrement des malades seront proposés à l'église Saint-Yves de Lannion le 11 février 2021.

De très nombreux reports pour les mariages et les baptêmes dans toutes les paroisses.

Les prêtres et les paroisses sont de plus en plus souvent considérés, par certaines familles, comme des « prestataires de services » dans l'organisation des mariages en particulier. C'est vraiment regrettable. On en parle dans les préparations au mariage.

Saint-Yves des jeunes : rendez-vous avec l'évêque le 15 mai à 17 h à Tréguier.

Le diocèse propose une formation pour les guides des funérailles. Une date pour la zone de Lannion est proposée, le jeudi 10 décembre à l'église Saint-Yves de Lanion, de 10 h à 16 h. Les membres d'équipe le matin et les guides l'après-midi.

La prochaine réunion de zone aura lieu le 6 novembre à 10 h 30.

Retour sur la réunion des acteurs paroissiaux proposée par le diocèse (29 septembre).

Nous étions 4 pour représenter Tréguier sur un public d'une cinquantaine de personnes pour la zone, mais les sujets abordés étaient très techniques :

les finances : si le denier du culte n'a connu qu'une faible baisse, il est à noter que le nombre des donateurs est en baisse réelle. C'est surtout les legs qui sont en baisse. Les quêtes sont en baisse et les quêtes par les nouveaux moyens de communication (smartphones) sont à mettre en place. Le casuel diminue et certaines paroisses n'ont pas enregistré les nouveaux tarifs :

messes 18 €

baptêmes : de 70 à 140 €

mariages : de 200 à 400 €

obsèques : de 190 à 250 €

les ressources humaines : les nouveautés sont surtout marquées par une sécurisation accrue de tous les moyens de paiement des salaires (versement et bulletins de paie). Un logiciel permet de gérer les congés. Rappels aux curés de réaliser les entretiens annuels avant le 15 octobre. La masse salariale globale a baissé. Il est à noter que la moyenne de salariés dans les paroisses est de 1,80.

un autre sujet abordé a été la sécurité des bâtiments : plus de vigilance ; sécurité incendie ; rappel que la plupart des incendies proviennent de défaillances électriques donc, contrôles réguliers ; constituer une équipe de sécurité pour les vérifications et la maintenance.

Tout acte d'incivilité, tags, vols, dégradations doit être signalé au diocèse et donner lieu à un dépôt de plainte.

VI – Questions diverses

Compte-tenu des dégâts causés par les dernières pluies sur le transept de l'église de Lézardrieux, la messe du samedi soir à 16 h 30 sera déplacée à Pleumeur-Gautier. Cela, à partir du mois de novembre.

La préparation au mariage : quelques changements dus aux mesures sanitaires imposées :

La première rencontre aura lieu le samedi 12 décembre de 17h30 à 18h30, suivie de la messe à laquelle vous êtes cordialement invités à l'église Saint-Yves de Ker-Uhel de Lannion, boulevard de l'Armor.

Les préparations au mariage, pendant cette période critique de pandémie, seront réservées aux paroissiens d'ici. Les couples habitant ailleurs et désirant se marier ici doivent suivre leur préparation dans leur paroisse d'origine.

Une session est proposée pour chaque couple parmi les quatre dates suivantes :

soit le samedi 16 janvier 2021

soit le dimanche 17 janvier

soit le samedi 27 mars

soit le dimanche 28 mars.
