A little Christmas magic for the gardener! My first amaryllis, the variety is called ‘Apple Blossom’, opened fully today. Everyone who has ever grown amaryllises knows how hard it is to time the opening of the flowers. So I will just consider this a good omen. I hope your Christmas celebrations are lovely and you are having a beautiful day! Here the weather is absolutely wonderful and we sat long in the garden and simply enjoyed the sun. We will be going for a dog walk later and look at the beautiful Christmas lights in our neighbor at dawn. Then its time for a special Christmas dinner and after that to retreat under the Christmas tree and enjoy the Christmas presents. I am wishing you lots of love and peace on this special day. This amaryllis sprang from one of those wax-covered balls. I got it at Trader Joe’s. Unfortunately, someone knocked off one of the flower buds just before it bloomed. Mad!!! It says the course with the course number you've listed for the mini comics class doesn't exist!!! I looked it up and it says it is 13049. Sadly I can't qualify because I don't have the prereqs, but it sounds AWESOME.

Hey there! A few people asked me about this so I'm gonna answer publicly to clear up any questions! 

I guess the course number doesn't match in the email I got but it's definitely there if you search Sequential Art classes for Fall 2014! 

As for the prerequisite classes, sometimes you can submit a prerequisite waiver (found in the FORMS tab on myscad) that lets you take classes out of order. You won't get out of taking the prereq classes, but you can put them off until later or take them at the same time. I transferred into SCAD undergrad in my sophomore year from a different college, so I became a master prerequisite waiver filler-outer to get all of my classes done in time to graduate with my class. Also you can email Professor Fisher about prereqs and stuff like that! If you've been getting good grades and have a reputation for working hard and getting your projects in on time, the waiver will definitely go through!

The beauty of my amaryllises in full flower is blowing me away at the moment! How could I ever live without them? One thing is for sure this won’t be the last time that I have forced them. I am dreaming already ahead which varieties I will grow next year. Are you growing amaryllises this year? And if so, how are yours doing? Do you have any favorite varieties? Hi guys, anyone else growing amaryllises (hippeastrum) this year? I planted mine late but they are growing now very fast, I would say an inch or so a day. If I am lucky, I have blooms at Christmas. How can something as simple as growing amaryllises be so exciting? I guess only plant nerds can relate! I hope you all had a lovely fourth of Advent weekend! My husband and I took it easy, we relaxed, cooked (duck breast), baked, and enjoyed the Christmas decorations. I am still adding to it every day a little bit. I like to do that until December 24th, so that there is something new and exciting until it all comes together on Christmas Eve! Anybody else still decorating?
