When they make Sherlock Holmes and Irene Norton née Adler have sexual tension I get so angry that steam comes out of my ears. I really feel like one of the best details in “A Scandal in Bohemia” that I never see people fixate on enough is that the story starts with Watson stopping in to see Holmes at Baker Street on a complete whim, because he happens to see that he’s home (and Watson is now married and living elsewhere). Like he doesn’t send word first, he’s not invited, he just shows up and surprises Holmes. Which is not that weird but then Holmes is like “oh good, I’ve got a case anyway, you might as well hang out!” which just makes it funnier when the King shows up and is like “I’d really rather speak to you alone, actually” and Watson tries to leave and Holmes is just like “anything you can say to me, you can say to my best friend John Watson, and if you ask him to leave, I would consider it a grave insult, you would be my enemy and I will not help you ever!!” And the king is like “…ok” and just moves on.

like, that is crazy behavior. Holmes is talking about how there’s probably lots of money in this case, and then almost turns away the client for…not knowing who the fuck Watson is?? He’s not even supposed to be there?? He just came to say hi?? “It is both or none”… girl, GET UP.

granada holmes and watson are so married. holmes bought watson’s favourite cigars as a welcome home present. watson sits beside holmes rapt as he de-disguises himself and tells him about his day. watson reads his paper as holmes conducts his experiments. watson tries to get holmes to eat supper with him. do you see how they are husbands??

I absolutely LOOOVE Irene Adler in the books

The way that she just declined a marriage to a KING cuz she didn’t like the vibe of him and then married some lawyer in a church as quickly as she could with Sherlock Holmes as the only witness (dressed as an old man)

And that she says that she often uses male clothing and takes advantage of the freedom it gives her

irene adler's adaptations make me so cross. there's the obvious tragedy that clearly barely any of the writers even READ a scandal in bohemia, but also. it couldve been SO GOOD. she and holmes shouldve been besties, not 'in love' with each other.

imagine an irene adler that's holmes' penpal. an irene adler that gives THE sherlock holmes tips on his cases, writing from the backstage of her latest opera. imagine an irene adler who comes over for brunch with holmes after the king of bohemia meets his inevitable untimely end. an irene adler whose husband is vaguely concerned about this until he gets invited too and meets watson. most importantly, imagine an irene adler who actually gets called irene NORTON

Lets address this real quick. Please. What is this. Holmes what are you doing. Please continue tho, this is not a complaint just. What. The scene that implanted itself onto my head probably isn't what ACD thought BUT. The king must've been flabbergasted. Or not. Maybe I am seeing things. Maybe I should stop or maybe not maybe I'm crazy what. I read this, thought about it. Then I went to sleep, thought about it. Ruminated on it. then I woke up, thought about it. I am thinking about it.

I cannot stress enough how much Holmes did not actually need Watson’s help in Scandal in Bohemia. The entire street was in on his plan and he basically just had Watson throw a smoke bomb through a window. But heaven forbid he do anything at all impressive and NOT have Watson there to assist/watch/be impressed

love the part in a scandal in bohemia where watson is like i feel so bad that i'm in front of a pretty lady's house about to trick her but it's not as bad as i'd feel if i disappointed holmes so oh well then he throws a smoke bomb or whatever and yells fire
