Congrats to Velma in the latest movie for being a lesbian.
Also a reminder that the company who owns Scooby-Doo, Warner Bros. Discovery, recently:
Laid off countless staff
Is likely doing more layoffs we don’t even know about
Cancel completed projects to get tax breaks
Removed countless animated series with no warning and without telling the staff
Is being sued for inflating HBO Max user numbers by Tens-Of-Millions
Turned beloved IPs (The Matrix/Harley Quinn/etc) into NFTs
Is STILL making “Bad Wizard Lady” projects
AND SO MUCH MORE!
I wonder, really, if the staff who made the most recent Scooby-Doo movie where Velma is a lesbian were even paid properly or even still have their JOBS…

First of all, Scotland, for passing the Scottish Hate Crime Act and trying to protect trans people, thank you. Thank you for treating us as humans, thank you for recognising our identities.
However....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fuck you JK Rowling. fuck your TERF rants that endanger our lives. fuck your Nazi attitudes.
fuck you Police Scotland for proving that you're fucks and will not take this law seriously, even when someone intentionally, repeatedly, maliciously and gleefully breaks this law in a very, very public forum.
Tumblr media
fuck you Police Scotland for not only refusing to take action when someone is breaking this law intentionally, repeatedly, maliciously and gleefully, but also proving that 1) this new law will NOT be taken seriously by you 2) this tells every TERF and Tory out there that the law is NOT valid, and that the law does NOT include queer people, specifically in this case Trans people; and 3) this tells every queer/Trans/enby/multi-sex/hermaphrodite person that we are NOT actually protected as this new law promises, and you can and will continue abusing us and destroying our lives. Fucking thanks. Cos it wasn't obvious enough that every day gets more and more dangerous for us trans/enby people, so thanks for just making it clear to the fucking world that even when someone mocks this law openly, you don't fucking care because we are not fucking people. Got it. So fuck you Police Scotland, specifically, for doing NOTHING when someone blatantly flouts this law. Fuck every one of you ACAB fuckers.
fuck everyone who still works with you, Rowling and still even speaks to you after knowing what you are.
fuck everyone who still buys anything related to the Harry Potter franchise knowing the money is going into the pocket of someone like this. Because she sends that money back out to fucking Anti-Trans orgs that hurt us.
fuck you HP fans who plan to watch her new tv show. You cannot be a fan of a massive transphobe trying to destroy us, and an ally at the same time. so fuck you.
fuck harry potter fans who wear HP merchandise stuff knowing what she has said and done, yes I don't care if you bought it before she said it, fuck you because you know exactly what she represents. Not apologising. Yeah, I'm totally judging you if you're wearing HP merch, even if especially if you're queer. I don't care how much HP meant to you as a child. I don't care about fucking nostalgia. I care about the Trans lives that are in danger every day because of monsters like this fucking woman.
fuck you Rishi Sunak for backing and legitimising this horrible woman and her bigotry.
fuck you British politics, fuck you Tories. Fuck you all for destroying this country and making every day more dangerous for Queer people.
fuck you CEO David Zaslav. fuck you Warner Bros. for being willing and happy to work with this fucking woman for her fucking franchise so she can continue to fucking make millions and fucking fund anti-trans orgs.
fuck every single one of who who protects, excuses and funds this fucking behaviour. And fuck every one of you who doesn't give a fuck at everything that is happening.
fuck these fucking fucks. fuck you TERFs and transphobes and fuck every single one of you fucking fucks.
Tumblr media
Thank you for trying, Scotland. Thank you.
But please explain to the fucking POLICE and the fucking evil POLITICIANS that this new law means we are legally recognised as protected under the Scottish Hate Crime Act, so they all need to stop fucking about and treat it seriously.
and the fucking PRIME FUCKING MINISTER fucking backing this fucking TERF. I'm not surprised, just angry.
This is on you. so, fuck you if you are supporting these fuckery fucking fucks.
As is EVERY SINGLE FUCKING INCIDENT a trans person has in this fucking country. Every time someone fucking deadnames us, every time someone intentionally misgenders us, every time someone threatens our safety, every time someone fucking assaults us? every single incident is on your fucking head, you fucking fucks.

The fact that Warner Bros has cancelled some events for DWD is not a good look. It just shows they also no longer have faith in their own move.
They never had faith in it. Harry was brought in to save it. They only care to draw Harry fans in to get some return on investment in the box office. That's why they're using Harry's name/image in all advertising, and are specifically sending it to fan UAs and spreading it to Harry fans. Doing anything to trick fans into going. Like that video said: it's youth marketing at best.
Holding more promo events is super expensive, and they know they won't get a large profit margin from doing that, so it's a waste of their time and limited marketing budget. So they cut their losses. Now it's all Harry Styles and his fans.
EDIT: Case and point:

Adobe Film And TV Fund To Support Underrepresented Creators And Filmmakers – Deadline
EXCEPT Adobe, highly corporatized, will be partnering w/other corporatized orgs, one of which is the Hollywood NAACP Bureau, run for a year by another Hollywood insider, Kyle Bowser, who among other things, worked for NBC FOX HBO and warner bros AND oversaw the Scientology-linked show In Living Colour. What's also interesting is how much the words 'diversity' and 'inclusion' are used by both Adobe and Bowser, but they never talk about what kind. I'm just going to say it. This is just another avenue for the Cult of Scientology and Hollywood Gay Mafia to add more people to their little army. Don't doubt for one minute that being QUEER is going to be the default. Might as well warn young heterosexual creatives not to bother with the Nuclear Family-hating Hollywood.

This is how we cope with the fact that Infinity Train is basically gone now.
Tumblr media
As someone who wants to study animation and have a career in animation, its horrible knowing that this can potentially happen to a project I work on. All the animators and creators hard work, all thrown away like its nothing! Animation is already disrespected enough as it is, but this is the most awful thing one can do in the history of animation. The fact that Infinity Train already got cancelled was enough to upset its fans, basically deleting it is a huge insult. Now we have to resort to pirating this show when it was conveniently on a streaming service. And not everyone can pirate this show either, since the target audience are children and middle schoolers, they'd be exposed to weird porn ads and viruses, which isnt safe at all. While its best to support the show directly, we unfortunately cant do that now since only seasons 1 and 2 got physical distributions and we dont know how long the show will be on Amazon Prime to buy digitally and on Hulu Live as well. What Warner Bros Discovery did just shows that they dont care about animation, the creators and animators hardwork, they just care about money; even though they lost like 20 billion since Friday, deserved honestly.
Fuck you Warner Bros Discovery.

My brothers in Christ...
You are entirely entitled to express your distain for a TV show or movie, even if plenty of people love them and wish to see more of it.
The animation community does this all the time with Illumination Entertainment.
But the thing is, we’re not out here dreaming of the day the company not only crashes and burns, but also that the films they made become lost media in the process.
So the moment you start praising companies/CEOs because they are using their powers to not only cancel multiple TV shows/movies, including upcoming projects, but also completely erasing any mention of them from their social media pages, and removing the physical releases from online shopping websites, simply because you don't like them personally, even going so far as to belittle the people who care deeply about these works of art and say they deserved it?
Is the moment you expose yourself as a an entire circus of clowns, who deserve no sympathy for when those same companies/CEOs inevitably turn on you and your favourite content.

Ok, this is going WAAAY too far. First my favorite cartoons disappear, an absurd amount of lost media has been created, AND NOW THIS BULLSHIT. I don’t watch Final Space. Never have, and unfortunately, it looks like I never will. How has there not been an investigation on this. ESPECIALLY from the IRS or something along those lines because of the Tax write offs. (They saved like, 7 dollars, I think.)
This is the one time Twitter needs to do it’s thing and cancel someone. (Even though that’ll never happen because it’s a toxic cesspool of shitty internet dweebs.)
I’m done. I-I’m just done. No one’s on their side and I DOUBT the employees are happy getting rid of people’s childhoods!
Something needs to be done. Immediately.

“After meaningful conversations, it is clear that the gap between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA is too great, and conversations are no longer moving us in a productive direction,” the AMPTP wrote in a press release on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, SAG is calling out Hollywood CEOs—including Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, Disney’s Bob Iger, NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav, who are all present during the talks—for low-balling and using “bullying tactics.” “It is with profound disappointment that we report the industry CEOs have walked away from the bargaining table after refusing to counter the latest offer,” SAG’s TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee announced on X on Thursday. “We have negotiated with them in good faith, despite the fact that last week, they presented an offer that was, shockingly, worth less than they proposed before the strike began.”
SAG-AFTRA Strike Looks Bleaker Than Ever as Talks Break Down
Oh, look, the same reprehensible billionaires are using the same failed tactics with SAG-AFTRA that they tried with WGA.
Fuck you, David Zaslav, Bob Iger, and your fellow scumbags. You’re nothing without the creative workers who are the heart of the entertainment industry. All we are asking for is reasonable protections so we can earn a living and qualify for health insurance. You want another helipad on your yacht.
As long as it takes. One day longer, one day stronger.

the thing about variety describing warner bros discovery making "unsuccessful attempts to sell the unprofitable fandom" is that this shifts all the blame on the audience. how are you gonna try that with a fandom that crowdfunded films on a record-breaking scale, raised millions for extra life for years and years, and spawned their own fucking convention because RT was so goddamn popular?? insane that poor business restructuring and shitty company practices from WBD is being spun into "our audience didn't give us enough money so unfortunately, we have to sell RWBY (a western show that enjoys enormous popularity in japan despite not being a homegrown anime) and RvB (a show which pioneered machinima as both a genre and medium)"

HBO Max was the best streaming service available and the new CEO of Warner Bros Discovery seems determined to burn it to the ground for absolutely no fucking reason. Now on top of cancelling projects that were 95% complete, they are removing some of their own original content, leaving consumers with literally no option other than piracy in order to watch it. In what universe does this make any sense?
On a personal level, I had just started watching Close Enough, and now I'm being told that I have to resort to piracy in order to finish it. At that point, if I'm already being forced to pirate HBO Max shows, then why would I even keep HBO Max?
Say what you will about Netflix consistently making idiotic decisions, at least you can rely on the content that they produced and own the rights to to stay on their fucking service. I thought that was the bare minimum we could expect from streaming services, but HBO Max seems determined to sink below our lowest expectations.

Thoughts on "Quiet on Set"
I imagine, being one of Youtube’s “Nickelodeon Content Creators”, you want to know what I thought. QUIET ON SET, the new four-part documentary detailing inappropriate behavior and abuse on the set of Dan Schneider’s various Nickelodeon shows, starts off on its worst foot, with all the earmarks of trashy tabloid journalism. A couple of gossip journalists walk us through events and interject how you’re supposed to feel about them. There’s one moment where Leon Frierson, former ALL THAT cast member, talks about how uncomfortable some of the costuming made him, about how the noses on a nose-themed superhero costume has some unfortunate phallic resemblances, and then we cut to a writer from Buzzfeed going “and then the sneeze gag is basically a cum shot joke!” Frierson never says that. In a later episode, a similar comparison is made to a gag on ZOEY 101, but there it’s actress Alexa Nikolas making that connection from the workplace environment she had found herself in. It’s an authentic observation, where in the earlier example it was outsider sensationalization, playing to the “crusaders” on Twitter and Tiktok where the public side of Schneider drama has mostly lived over the past decade. They bring on Marc Summers, Nickelodeon elder statesman who had virtually no presence in this era of the channel, for all of twelve seconds so that he can watch a clip of a Schneider show and go “oh, wow, they aired that?”
You can imagine how the producers' eyes must have lit up when they learned that Brian Peck, former Nick dialogue coach and convicted sex offender, owned a John Wayne Gacy painting. I mean, yeah, that’s fucked up, but it has virtually nothing to do with anything. It is, however, a perfect “can you believe this” moment that can be clipped and shared on social media for shock value. It’s something that the documentary can ride as a viral moment.
QUIET ON SET was produced for Investigation Discovery, whose bread and butter is schlocky true crime documentaries. Shows like EVIL LIVES HERE and WHO THE (BLEEP) DID I MARRY. Not exactly tasteful television. The channel is owned by Warner Bros Discovery, and was simultaneously released on Max. Warner Bros Discovery owns Cartoon Network. The documentary puts emphasis on Nickelodeon being on the top of the children’s cable game, and often brings up the Disney Channel as Nick’s main competitor. At no point is Cartoon Network mentioned, because, well, nobody wants to say their competitor is doing better than them, and saying you’re doing better than Nickelodeon would defeat the documentary’s narrative. My point is that I do not believe QUIET ON SET comes from a genuine place. It’s cheap schlock shock documentary filmmaking that wants to attract the same crowd who watch serial killer shows for fun. However. It’s also a space where a lot of people who were hurt during this time at Nickelodeon have come forward to tell their stories, and that pretty much nullifies all the gross exploitation elements present in the early parts. When these people start speaking for themselves, the documentary has no choice but to let them speak, and its more garbage instincts fade away. By the time Drake Bell starts telling his story, the gossip journalists all but vanish until the end, and there’s a stronger sensitivity to everything. The topics raised are harrowing. Workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, child abuse, sexism on set, racism on set, and general mispractice paint a meaningful picture of the toxic environment Nickelodeon was allowing at this time. The stories told by AMANDA SHOW writers Christy Stratton and Jenny Kilgen are infuriating. And then the sexual assault of Drake Bell by Brian Peck. Not an easy watch. It shouldn’t be an easy watch. What a fucking awful thing. It’s heartbreaking to watch. The documentary handles it with an unexpected tact and evenhandedness. It doesn’t excuse Bell’s later behaviors, and it allows Schneider to come off as one of the few adults who handled the situation correctly, even if the rest of the documentary is largely against him. I wish this had been the tone of the entire piece. QUIET ON SET is an important document of a terrible entertainment workplace. It’s a shame they dumped a bunch of trash on top of it. It’s not an easy watch, but it’s one of those things that’s going to be referenced to a lot over the years, and I hope that the people who make children’s television were learn the right lessons from it.

i get so much satisfaction (and despair. but mostly satisfaction) out of watching warner bros-discovery shit the bed over and over. like on a personal level
so they did this right
Tumblr media
hilariously bad. stripping away meaningful credit (which thus makes it impossible for those "creators" to actually sell their skills because they're so indistinct) during an ongoing writer's strike, while SAG-AFTRA is currently voting to authorize a strike, and while the directors aren't striking yet but sound like they really fucking want to...but you're breaking the terms of the contracts you have with the WGA and DGA concerning credit...?????
lol
so then mere HOURS later,
yeah ok. lmao
