1 and 3 are the clear best starting pointts for Classic Who and I've been trying to watch both but I think I like watching 3 more and I feel bad cuz I DO plan on eventually coming back but I might go through 3-7 before then and do 1-2 so it feels like not giving 2 a chance.
Do I just watch a couple of his serials and see if I can avoid any big arcs? Or does 2 have a good starting point that I can watch knowing only a bit about 1? I'm okay with coming back but I wanted to give both 1 and 2 a chance before I did ya know?

2000 followers!!!!
Graphic by @not-a-unique-snowflake-blog 🥰🥰
Wow, I'm in tears y'all I can't believe I'm at 2k!!!!!
I'll be straight up, the 1k celebration was a lot ;-;
And with school, I can't commit to a whole lot especially writing things for people who don't interact with my shit at all. So, I decided to do something specific
My talent lies in series more than one shots. It's where I shine. So I think the celebration will be centered more around my different universes! Acceptable universes will be listened an linked at the bottom.
Here's how to participate!
Fuck Marry Kiss
Pic 3 canon characters or OC's from any universes. If you say "Marc Spector" Specify if its from Seattle or Sunshine. Make sure I know which series bc there slightly different characterizations sometimes. Same with reader. MOST of my readers have a nickname like Little One or Madonna. Example: FMK: IYWBW Santi, Lorenzo, and Puppy Girl reader
2. Bonus chapter or thoughts (or thots)
Ever wanted to know how Zach and Lorenzo fell in love? Ever wondered what Jana and Will's friendship is like? Wanted to see what Guard Dog! Joel and Reader do for fun? Now is your chance! Please be clear if you're looking for thoughts or an organized chapter. Example: Can I please request a scene with how Santi calms down Laci when she has PTSD now that's she's a few years into healing? Example 2: Was wondering if you had some random thoughts of what shows Jake and Sam have watched together over the years?
3. Crossovers!
Want two characters from different universes to meet? Have a cross story ship? Think two readers or OC's would be besties? Think a pair of characters would be fun in a different AU? Come on over!
Example (From Fen): Leather and Lace Santi and Laci meet The Wrong Way Joel and Little one
Example 2 (Also from Fen): What if Sam met Becca.
Example 3: I think Angela from Blessed be the Fruit would absolutely love Candy and they should date.
Acceptable universes to ask for fics or crossovers from:
If You Wanna Be Wild (Santiago Garcia x Latina!Reader/OC x Javier Pena) with @my-secret-shame-but-fanfiction Sunshine Starlight Sweetheart Brightside (Steven Grant x OC x Marc Spector) Seattle (Marc Spector x Jewish!OC) Leather and Lace Universe (Santiago Garcia x OC, Frankie Morales x AfroLatina!OC, William Miller x Vietnamese!OC, Ben Miller x M!OC) Awakening (Reader x all 4, IronPope, FishBen) Darkness on the Edge of Town (Joel Miller x reader, no age gap) DBF!Joel Miller Holiday Fucks (Joel Miller x reader, large age gap) Pieces from my dark side blog @romana-after-dark are allowed too. I have 2k followers here but Ill want to open the worlds in here to the event.
The Wrong Way (Dark!Joel Miller x reader, Dark!Tommy Miller x reader DDDNE) Guard Dog (Dark!Joel Miller x Dark!reader) Blessed Be the Fruit (Dark!Joel Miller x darkish!reader) Puppy Girl (dark!Joel Miller x reader, pet play) Room's on Fire (Reader x Santiago, Francisco, Will, Ben, FishBen, FishPope)
If you have other ideas, just ask!!!
Spring Break is coming up so im excited to do some of these and my commissions!
I CANNOT thank my lovely followers enough for all this!!! I love writing so fucking much and many have reached out to me about fics being healing for them
so, thank you. I mean it. Man of these stories, like LaL universe or TWW have been healing for me, processing a lot of feelings through them and i pu tmy heart and soul into my stories, so it makes me so happy and proud yall want to read.

Y'know, I'm not actually sure how I feel about the twist / ending in Doctor Who? I'm going to have to sit on it for a while - because I'm certain RTD has plans for this - but right now I'm just a bit 🤨 Cut for spoiler talk;
So I was mostly excited about this episode because I wanted to see Tennant's Doctor go up against the Toymaker (NPH was just an added bonus in the role) and for the most part the Toymaker did not disappoint. NPH did an incredible job with the character and the chaotic fey-like quality that character brings. I think the last time I felt truly uncomfortable in a DW episode was Don't Blink back when it first aired, but the dolls in this episode really gave me that 'oh shit, I do not like this it's creepy' energy. I'd rank that part of the character up there on my favorite interpretations in New Who next to Capaldi's classic Cyberman episode.
... But the Toymaker is undefeatable. He is a celestial fiend, a being of cosmic power. You don't defeat or kill him - you trick him, and then he waits until the next meeting. And I don't feel that the 'trick' with the ball game worked. It felt like a cop-out. I think the episode was rushed towards the end, which kind of sucks because this could have been something really special. I would have rather that they won the game and the Toymaker grudgingly accepted it, until next time. (Although my God, this is a character you do not introduce often unlike others the show has worn out. Keep their mystery and only release them every so often).
The ending itself left me ... lukewarm as of right now? I don't know how I feel about the bigeneration, and I'm not sure I like it? Also what does this mean for however many timelord / variant timelords are now running around? We have two doctors (Tennant and Ncuti), the Doctordonna, Donna's Daughter, The Master, Jenny's still out there somewhere - there's so many and I'm just like 'we still haven't brought in characters like Romana or Rani! We still haven't used Gallifrey - and it's been ten years since we used a whole anniversary special to save it!'
I wish we had more old who characters pop up in these specials too :( I love that they explored further material and older episodes for them (the Star Beast was a treat, and I don't think anyone expected the Toymaker of all characters to return, especially given the erm ... racism/cultural appropriation conversation the old 60's version brings up these days). But I feel like Jodie's last few episodes are the best tribute to them, and those aren't even specials. While it's nice to see Mel again, I miss my darling Ace, and she would have fit right in at the Doctor Donna family table at the end. Although it was nice to have Fourteen and Fifteen acknowledge Adric, and our dear Sarah Jane.
The best part of the episode however was the Toymaker dancing to 'Spice Up Your Life' and causing havoc. That was a peak 'I Can't Decide' with the Master moment, and it will forever be a fav.

/this is so very on time/ characters: Romana, Sartia (redemption verse) ship: Mana/Sartia and Romana/Leela/Narvin (conspiracyverse)
I believe this ask is from a year or so ago, which means I’m very much the not-timely one. 😅
Romana — Redemption Verse
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
How I feel about this character: she is The Blorbo in whatever verse, but I've particularly enjoyed exploring her in the direct aftermath of Etra Prime in this verse. she pushes and pushes herself because she can't rest until the Dalek plan is stopped, until the prisoners are rescued. her trust issues are just as pronounced as in canon, but there's a slightly different flavor to them - because Sartia found and rescued her, Romana has all the more reason to believe that The Powers That Be on Gallifrey never really tried to find her. (since crucially, she doesn't know that Sartia only found her via working with Free Time and the Daleks.) she also has one (1) friend in the aftermath of Etra Prime, but it's a friend who sort of tried to kill her once, and she's swinging back and forth between holding Sartia at a distance and breaking down in front of her, as if daring her to use Romana's vulnerability against her. Romana is, as always, going through it <33
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I feel like I should answer this only in the context of what's already happened in the verse, because we know who I ship with Romana in general. but at this point in redemption verse, it's really just Sartia - they have this terribly messy unspoken tension Thing going on that might be feelings and might be relief at having Someone, and they both are approaching their relationship as transactional, and Sartia's betrayal of Romana is haunting everything. and Something very nearly happened between them on the sofa late and night and that scene was so !!
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: at this point? Narvin, absolutely. I am fascinated by how she meets him much earlier and dislikes him much earlier - and it's a more personal, irrational dislike at this point. he is That CIA Agent who has seen her in a vulnerable position more than once, and she hates that. she very much wants to never see him again, but he keeps, unfortunately, turning up. and on the other hand, he is much more forgiving of her than in canon because he was the first person from Gallifrey who saw her only a couple days after she escaped, and he was there with her on Etra Prime during the mission and saw how she reacted and watched her push herself until she collapsed. them starting at this point where he's already seen her vulnerable, and she resents him deeply for it, is super interesting to me.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I don't really have any wishes for her personal story in this verse, because I want to just chase the ripple effect of the changes to canon. how will these different post-Etra Prime experiences impact her issues with trust and friendship? how will pushing for a mission to liberate Etra Prime - a mission that only succeeded because Sartia temporarily seized godlike power to wipe out the Daleks on Etra Prime - impact her as a politician going forward? how will not being the sole survivor of Etra Prime affect her? I dunno where these things could go, but when my writing brain kicks back into gear, I'm excited to find out.
Favorite friendship for this character: I mean, at this point it's Sartia, for all the reasons above. and my god it's a messy friendship, and Sartia is keeping massive secrets from Romana that would change everything, but she is also genuinely the only person looking out for Romana as a person right now. and Romana really needs that.
Sartia — Redemption Verse
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
How I feel about this character: oh I am rooting for her so very much. yes, things are gonna get worse for her at some point before they have a chance of getting better better - because she has spun a massive lie, and that will come back to bite her eventually. but the reason that's gonna hurt is because she isn't lying anymore about her motivations. she's had her realization that the intensity of her resentment for Romana was unfair - Romana didn't mean to hurt her, while Sartia definitely meant to hurt Romana on Funderell. Sartia has chosen where her loyalties lie, she's genuinely trying to rebuild something with Romana. to confront her own past and carve out a place for herself on Gallifrey. there is no sinister agenda. but there was an agenda once - she was an agent of Free Time before her world was tipped sideways. just because you want to move on from your past doesn't mean your past will let you.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: *gestures at my response for Romana* although because there isn't anyone else I naturally ship with Sartia, it'll be really fun to see if any other shippy dynamics do develop. but yeah her thing with Romana is the main one - the intense teenage crush turned deep resentment turned Complicated.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Narvin is also a strong contender here, given that they've already tried to kill each other, which I find hilarious - but actually, for me it's Brax. I love that this AU being canon divergent is a plot point - that Sartia changed time through force of will without realizing it, and now the timeline's gone off the rails, and all of Brax's careful plans that rely on knowledge of this particular timeline are at risk of crumbling. I love how this creates an inherent rivalry between them, but only Brax is fully aware of it, at least for now. and the other thing that gets me about Sartia and Brax is that, yes, they have this methodical vs. impulsive clash happening, but it's not a clash of equals. they may be (consciously or not) battling each other for control of the timeline now, but once upon a time, she was his student, and she asked him for help, and he dismissed her. she was collateral damage in the timeline.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: as much as there's a painful angst factor if she also becomes friends with Leela and/or Narvin eventually, despite knowing that they're both Romana's Friend first.....I do hope someday she's able to make connections with people who aren't also deeply tangled up in Romana. I think it would be good for her.
Favorite friendship for this character: see everything above about Romana and Sartia, although I'm really intrigued to see what other friendships (with canon characters or not) she ends up having.
Mana/Sartia — Conspiracy Verse
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
When I started shipping them: I mean, I already shipped Romana and Sartia in much messier ways, but Mana/Sartia was probably in my head when were first getting started with the verse. it's the innocent and sweet version of their relationship - first crushes, falling for your friend, no betrayals between them.
My thoughts: my children!! my main thought right now is that image of them grabbing each others’ hands on the steps of the presidential palace and running off into the night. they’ve been through so much, and they’re gonna go through even worse, but my god they are trying to look out for each other.
What makes me happy about them: Romana assumes their friendship is a lie on Sartia's end. Leela and Narvin are worried that whatever went wrong between prime universe Romana and Sartia will happen again. they’ve been thrown into another universe, they’ve had a big fight with each other. there is so much against them, and so many folks skeptical of their friendship. and they’re out here going fuck that, we’re sticking together. you’re my best friend. (I also love how Sartia has weird feelings about adult Romana’s potential love life, for reasons she has yet to unpack.)
What makes me sad about them: how they can never go home. they lost their world to the Daleks at such a young age. and their bond is so much more intense because of being survivors together, but it’s also a Lot to have one person be all that’s left of your world.
My wishlist: vampire hybrid Sartia and Pandora possessed Mana, of course, and all the inherent angst of both situations. I’m also super looking forward to them finding out what Sartia did to Romana in this universe, and how devastating that’s gonna be.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: they're like. the Time Lord equivalent of thirteen, so they've got plenty of time to end up with other people throughout their lives. but in the short term - I don't think there are any other kids their age in the story, unless I'm misremembering one of the OCs ages, and really, in this verse it wouldn't make narrative sense for them to end up with someone else.
My happily ever after for them: ooh now that’s a question. because they don’t have a home to go back to, but they’re always going to be out of place in this universe. possibly it’s them somehow being able to attend the Academy and then at some point running off to become renegades because they both still have that desire to see what’s out there. but while I can see them ending up not on Gallifrey (I have contemplated the idea of them being companions to the Doctor for a bit, and the Doctor experiencing the weirdness of hanging out with a teenage Romana and teenage Sartia—having actually been there on Funderell!), I dunno if they’ll get a lot of choice in the matter. especially if Sartia ends up part vampire.
Romana/Leela/Narvin — Conspiracy Verse
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
When I started shipping them: well, they are fundamentally the same as canon ot3 up to the end of series 6, so the answer is “when I binged series 4-6 in a day in 2019 and my brain went ah about the three of them.”
My thoughts: loving the opportunity to explore their tangle of relationships post series 6! it’s one of the two really juicy time gaps in the audios, and I’ve done a lot of ot3-centric post-Enemy Lines writing, so. and because we’re actually exploring the ramifications of rebooting Gallifrey and the new stress this creates for everyone—they’re in this weird place of having to go go go, respond to whatever crisis is in front of them, keep things under control. while at the same time, the three of them suddenly being back on their original Gallifrey and all together is quite an adjustment after many months away and many months of Leela living separately and only barely speaking to the other two.
What makes me happy about them: I love writing them in this “there Something between each of them but they’ve got various levels of self-awareness about it and aren’t gonna talk about it regardless” stage. the complexity and intensity of feelings between pair of them is its own distinct Thing, and they have too much going on to really unpack any of it, and I love unfolding this slow burn Thing. (I also think it’s hilarious that Sartia strongly suspects there’s Something Going On between Romana and Leela, even if she can’t quite articulate what that is, and Mana just as strongly suspects that there’s Something Going On between Narvin and Leela, and they’re all not wrong.)
What makes me sad about them: oh, it’s similar to Romana/Sartia in redemption verse, in that there’s a Secret waiting to detonate. I know I’m an angst loving person, I know I’ve already written a “Romana finds out what Narvin did” fic, but I’m also enjoying the romcom-vibes-in-the-middle-of-a-crisis, and I’m rooting for them, and of course Romana has to find out eventually what Narvin did.
My wishlist: mainly I just want more scenes with the various ot3 pairings! it made a lot of sense to focus on mixing and matching them with the kids because new dynamics to explore, and those scenes have been so good. but now that the kids have run off and they’re not gonna find them for a while, we have an opportunity to have scenes between them that focus on other crises, beyond the AU kids at large, or that look back at what they’ve been through together and really poke at the layers of what their relationships are like now. and lean into that unresolved tension thing maybe…..
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: they’re really the only people they could each end up with (in this verse)—they don’t have that emotional closeness with anyone else. they’ve been through so much together, they like each other so much, even when they’re completely disagreeing. if later canon follows a similar path, there’s one option for Leela, but I don’t think this verse will ever get to that point—and even if it did reach the Time War, I don’t think events will play out the same way.
My happily ever after for them: oh, I don’t think they get a happily ever after—unless something really bonkers happens with the multiple universes, the time war’s already been set in motion. there is a tragic endgame (unless I start bringing in my post-time war fix it headcanons). and I think a happily-for-now for them would be something like what I wrote for them in my post-Enemy Lines fics, but in the context of this verse: the crises spawned by the memory wipe are addressed as best they can, and simmer down over time. Romana learns to trust that young Sartia won’t betray Mana, which is a big ask, but also the only way I think she’d ever somewhat relax about young Sartia being out there on the planet or in the universe. somehow Narvin’s secret comes out and it doesn’t ruin everything in the long term. possibly Romana is less of an asshole about taking over the CIA. Leela gets closer to finding a place where she fits on Gallifrey—where she’s not just a tool of the Time Lords, but also doesn’t have to leave her friends. feelings get confronted in one way or another, which would definitely be awkward and messy and very fun to write, but I am rooting for them.

I'm glad I saw your post because I'm always down to talk about dw and I really need some distraction right now.
So wishlist for season 13 : Sacha Dhawan, Jo Martin and Paul McGann. All in the same episode because why the f not?
I also want an episode written by Vinay Patel because I really love his work.
Also I dreamt about the 60th anniversary episode the other night and it was a four-doctor special with 13, 8 and 6 (don't remember the last one) and yeah, I could totally see that.
Fave audiosode : Absent Friends (from DC3) because many reasons. Mainly for Eight being a little sh#t with Helen and Liv and how it really hurts. Also UNIT Dating now because gay rights and Helen. Just Helen.
Fave companion : can't choose just one, that's too hard. So like for the classics I would choose : Steven my baby, Jamie ofc, Romana I, Turlough and Ace. For Eight's era : Fitz, Anji, Lucie and Liv. And new!who : Martha, Donna and Graham
multidoctor ep but the doctors are 8 and ruth... god that would be so smashing... i haven’t listened to doom coalition yet ! (or any of the 8th dr boxsets yet tbh i’m still on lucie’s last season) but i’ve heard so much about the companions and i’m so excited to meet them... and ohh a steven fan i see... basically just wanna say you have impeccable taste and reading your list of favourite companions made me smile

not sure if i'm late for the character asks but... braxiatel and sartia?
Sorry for hanging onto this ask for ages — you weren’t too late, I was just trying to figure out an answer to one (1) question and then I waited so long that I forgot about this ask….and I still don’t have an answer to that one (1) question, but I figure I’ll just post what I’ve got, it’s been so long already 😄
SARTIA
favorite thing about them: she’s so hard to pin down, I’m fascinated! she’s such a good actress and has all these masks, and it’s so interesting to try to pick apart how much is true? she leaves Romana to die and then later wants the guy on the crew to rescue her, she tries to tempt Romana into ruling the universe with her and then says she wants it all to herself - she’s bitter but really good at pretending to be sweet, she’s a mess of contradictions and layers and we get so little time with her that there’s so much open space to analyze and headcanon!
least favorite thing about them: I should say ‘left my favorite character to die and emotionally traumatized her’ but um. that’s one of the interesting bits. so really it’s that she’s only in the two audios? she has such an interesting slash horrifying dynamic with Romana, bring her back!
brOTP / OTP / nOTP: I’m condensing the relationship asks into one because Sartia really only has one important relationship in her actual episodes — her relationship with Romana. and I have a lot of feelings about the toxic, abusive mess of their friendship! I want to know more about it! I love thinking about their dynamic in school together and the many possible outcomes of them meeting again when they’re older, and the ramifications of this relationship on Romana’s life. and I also love thinking about a teenage crush turned sour as part of that history (aka i do kinda ship them but in a fucked up way because hey. there were gay vibes in Sleek). and I think Romana needs to absolute stay away from Sartia, holy shit. so it’s uhhhhh complicated. (it gets even more complicated when you throw AUs into the mix — long story short, I have a lot of feelings about their relationship, but what exactly those feelings are, and how much I’m rooting for their relationship vs. wanting them to stay away from each other, depends on the universe. ….and yes this is partially about Romana The Promise by @presidentromana, highly highly recommend this fic, it will break your heart.)
random headcanon: Sartia and Romana got up to Shenanigans together during their Academy days. we know Academy era Romana decides to wander down to the catacombs. we know Sartia finds forbidden places exciting. Sartia definitely goaded Romana into poking around some weird places where they weren’t allowed. and yes, Romana was willing to go along with Sartia’s plans because Sartia was the only person who would hang out with her, and she didn’t want Sartia to drop her because she wasn’t interesting enough….but also Romana was into it. Sartia was also good at convincing Romana to take the blame if they ever got caught because Sartia knew that Romanadvoratrelundar, heir to the House of Heartshaven and top student of their year, could get away with a lot more. and she liked knowing that she could make Romana do things for her. (and this is how we get Romana instantly covering for Sartia in Sleek.)
unpopular opinion: I don’t have any, so instead you get an unoriginal Sartia opinion (but one that’s very important to my view of her character): I don’t believe Sartia’s friendship with Romana was always an act. yes, she does end up stringing Romana along and enjoying her suffering, but Sartia’s so bitter at Romana. it feels raw, personal. she’s cruel, but she’s also angry, and that anger makes it seem like she had some kind of genuine attachment to Romana. but Gallifrey doesn’t teach its children how to process jealousy and anger in a healthy manner. (related: I’m ridiculously attached to @presidentromana’s Sartia backstory, also highly highly recommend The Most Arrogant of the Species, aka The Fic That Made Me Sympathize With Sartia.)
song i associate with them: ….I may have spiraled and made a whole Sartia playlist. but if I had to pick one song: Ignorance by Paramore was the first song I added to the playlist. “If I'm a bad person, you don't like me / Well, I guess I'll make my own way / It's a circle, a mean cycle / I can't excite you anymore / Where's your gavel? Your jury? / What's my offense this time? / You're not a judge, but if you're gonna judge me / Well, sentence me to another life” - for Sartia @ Romana vibes, these lyrics especially remind me of the end of The Thief Who Stole Time
favorite picture of them: there aren’t any pictures other than the audio cover :(
BRAXIATEL
I’ve only heard Brax in Gallifrey, so this is going to be about that version of the character!
favorite thing about them: his….theatrical-ness? I’m not sure what the exact word I’m looking for is, but it’s some combination of the voice acting and his sense of humor and flair for the dramatic that makes him a really interesting personality for the other characters to bounce off of and a very entertaining character to have around. (this is very poorly described and I’m thinking more of the early seasons here, but idk Brax just has a Vibe that makes him really engaging to listen to?) (this is what happens what I get asked about characters I haven’t thought a lot about, you get vague statements about Vibes 😄)
least favorite thing about them: please Big Finish stop using Brax as a deus ex machina….I’m really tired of Brax being used as a plot device to get Romana out of trouble, it does a disservice to both characters. (if there was more complex emotional follow up - especially when Brax is overruling her own choices to save her - that could be interesting! but they never explored that in any satisfying way, so it’s just deeply irritating.)
brOTP: Brax and Romana -  in a “this friendship is deeply complicated and kinda messed up and very interesting” way. the mentorship dynamic is so intrinsic to their relationship - Brax guides her and believes in her but also puts her on a pedestal (the image of her as this Magnificent President), Romana leans on his guidance and also puts him on a pedestal in a different way (as someone who has answers, who can get her out of trouble). they both have so many masks - and some they let slip around each other, but others they put on for each other. she is more than his shining student-turned-president, and he is more than her trustworthy teacher-turned-advisor, but they want to be seen that way. and so, inevitably, they fail to live up to those masks and it hurts. but there’s a history of trust and affection that’s hard to shake, no matter how much hurt is in the way, and that creates such a complex dynamic! (it’s a fascinating relationship that I think I would be much more interested in if there wasn’t that overt layer of one-sided romantic interest.)
OTP: none. I can read and enjoy shippy fic with him, but I don’t really ship him with anyone?
nOTP: romantic Brax/Romana, sort of, except for when a fic Hits Me (I went into more detail here and here)
random headcanon: this was the question that was killing me because I realized….I’m not sure I’ve spent enough time thinking about Brax to develop any solid headcanons? My lack of knowledge about Benny has made me super hesitant to develop any definitive opinions and headcanons even about Gallifrey!Brax, so I probably have a Brax headcanon somewhere, but I keep drawing a blank whenever I’ve gone to answer this question, oops.
unpopular opinion: …I’m not super interested in him? I found him an entertaining and interesting character to have around in the early seasons, but then I kinda lost interest once I realized he wasn’t actually a main character and his relationships with the other characters weren’t going to grow and develop as the series continued (I also talked more here about how I felt like I should ‘reserve judgement’ on Brax, but that ended up resulting in me just….not forming any major opinions about Brax or interest in his character). although I am interested in hearing him in the Benny stuff - maybe because it seems like he’s a more important part of the narrative there?
song i associate with them: I don’t really have one, although I remember liking this playlist by @patrexi!
favorite picture of them: this one by @stillthesunkenstars and this one by @nighthair-art

hey, i'm thinking about watching some classic who episodes for the first time, ik u can really start from anywhere but where do u recommend i begin with those seasons (esp cuz there's so many lol)?
it really depends on what you want and what made you want to watch it!! are you excited to meet a particular character or see a certain storyline? do you want to just get an overall feel of the classic doctors?
that being said, there are great episodes from every season and every era so here are some recs! (in vague chronological order and under the cut cos it’s so long)
an unearthly child is the first ever story of doctor who!! you don’t learn much about the doctor and the pacing is rough, but you do meet companions susan, barbara, and ian in a fun, lowstakes story
the daleks is a better first impression for the first doctor and an introduction to the daleks themselves (+a really cool setting like seriously what they did with all sets and props was amazing)
the war machines is a really important episode for the doctor’s overall character development, and it’s just a fun one
the macra terror is a great story, a great serial to get an impression of the second doctor, just a super fun one
evil of the daleks.. oh man this is also an important one in terms of doctor’s character development in that he makes a Big mistake, promises not to do it again, and in later seasons (esp in new who) he starts making similar mistakes... thinking emoji... also just a great one for character stuff and a smashing story
the war games is super important for backstory stuff. it’s the story that establishes the time lords!! and it’s just a well written well paced plot with cleverly written and acted emotional aspects
inferno!!!! ughguhgh i love inferno so much it’s my favourite third doctor story i think. totally perfect characterization for him if you want to get to know him along with a smart environmentalist plot and the absolute delight of the doctor going to a parallel universe where all his friends are evil
colony in space is really sweet and has a lot of great moments between the third doctor and his companion jo, plus a solid plot and the master is fun in it
genesis of the daleks is probably on everyone’s classic who recs list but like. it deserves it... this story has amazing characterization for the fourth doctor that turns out to be one of the factors that shapes the doctor in new who + good dalek content. one of the few dalek stories that isn’t super dull
horror of fang rock is a really fun lighthouse murder mystery with aliens just really good fun tbh that’s all there is to it. it’s a super enjoyable one just because of the setting and also leela is terrific in it
city of death!! is peak douglas adams silly sci fi weirdness. best characterization for the fourth doctor plus great location filming plus a really fun bouncy vibe plus romana who is soooo cute
logopolis/keeper of traken/castrovalva- ok so this one is actually three stories but they’re all part of one arc and it’s jsut really fabulous in my opinion. a lot of brilliant sci fi worldbuilding and a really good regen from 4 into 5. sooo good though
earthshock is pretty important to watch just because it’s a really important moment in the doctor’s life, and also because it has some great characterization for the fifth doctor that lays the groundwork for the tenth doctor’s schtick later.
enlightenment is pretty brilliant and has some really interesting character moments for turlough, but you’d be missing plot stuff if you didn’t also watch mawdryn undead and terminus
i’m hesitant to do this but i’m also going to recommend trial of a timelord. this is a season-long arc with fourteen episodes, some of which are admittedly hit or miss, but it’s an excellent dissection of the sixth doctor’s character and a really interesting deep dive into gallifreyan bullshit politics
the happiness patrol is full of allegory and distopian political commentary but contrasted with the most batshit villain concept you’ve ever seen. honestly it’s so much fun and a good example of the seventh doctor and ace’s relationship
ghost light... i’m also hesitant to recommend this one but if you like evil of the daleks this is a story with sort of similar stuff going on - an old victorian house, the doctor lying to a companion and breaking their trust - just fun stuff like that. it’s also a great great character development one for ace
survival is kinda silly and there’s furries in it but it’s the last story of classic who and it’s fun.. good content from the master, the doctor, and ace, and honestly a sweet send off for the show
if you want recs for a specific character let me know and i’ll give you some that touch on all the important stuff for their character arc!!
