They're natural! He's missing triangular notches on the outer edges of both, but they're supposed to be tall and pointy.

All dogs are born with soft and floppy ears, and it can take some time for the cartilage in them to harden enough for the ears to stay upright reliably, especially if they're particularly big, thin and batlike.

I made this little age chart a couple of years ago, specifically to demonstrate the evolution of his ear situation.

The same progression can be seen in many real dogs, like these ibizan hounds for example.

sorry to bother! on may 18th, you posted a drawing of silco (i think) with long hair saying you were showing some brushes to a friend. i love the watercolor texture of the brushes you used to color, are they a custom brush or just the default watercolor brush in csp with some kind of overlay and blended together in parts??

They were defaults, since I was showing her mine and other examples of how good the defaults can look!

(they say "2" at the end bc i had initially deleted them and had to readd them)

Along with this I use a paper texture from this csp marker brush pack! The one in the "update" folder, it has the words "soft light" in it. I use this paper texture for everything, it's my favorite one I've found and it carries my work sometimes!

The markers themselves are quite good too!!!!

it's loathing, but like, the kind of cartoon hero/villain rivalry where it's gone on so long that sometimes they get weirdly casual about hating each other. Although there's no real evidence to support the idea that Aku's harboring secret adoration for Jack, there's just enough empty space where you could insert that if you decide to. If tomorrow the showrunner declared "btw Aku was secretly gay for Jack" I'd go "sure."

if you WANT it to be gay, here's what you've got to work with:

– when Jack first time travels to the future to hunt Aku, Aku makes a big deal about how he can and will be watching Jack's every move. There are multiple scenes where he's just glowering at Jack through a magic window, occasionally asking why he won't just die. Which isn't affectionate, but IS obsessive.

– Eventually he's so distraught by the fact that this guy just won't die that he gets a therapist who bans him from mentioning Jack's name during their sessions. (The therapist is himself. Aku's not in a great place.) so, like, again: not affectionate, but sooo obsessive. I cannot stop thinking about this guy to the point it's becoming a problem obsessive.

– (and you only asked about Aku's feelings but I'll mention on Jack's end: from the age of 8 Jack spends 17 years traveling the world just to train to kill Aku, and then 50 years solely dedicated to trying to kill him. So, the obsession goes both ways.)

– Aku loves to hang around after Jack's lost just so that he can laugh and taunt him. And when Aku finally captures Jack, he makes a big deal about choosing his method of execution and making a public show of it. So like, he hates Jack but he doesn't hate him so much that he doesn't even wanna look at him. You could even say he likes Jack... as long as Jack's suffering.

– there's an entire episode where Jack searches for a magic jewel that can help him defeat Aku, and he teams up with a pretty gal who tells Jack about how Aku's tormented her. they spend days (weeks? I'd have to rewatch) traveling & camping together. when they find the jewel, the gal smashes it and reveals she's actually Aku in a shapeshifted disguise, at which point he laughs at Jack and leaves. The dynamic between fake-gal & Jack wasn't quite romantic, but it was very friendly and Aku didn't break character once during their journey.

– there's another episode where Aku, this time disguised as a Wise Old Hermit Mentor Figure (albeit a particularly crabby one), tricks Jack into collecting the parts of a weapon for him. This time it's Jack who sees straight through Aku's disguise and only pretends to play along so that he can catch Aku off guard and try to kill him. So, they're mutually willing & able to (pretend to) play nice with each other if it's for some other benefit.

– this is where it really gets weirdly casual: there's an episode where Aku goes "look, Jack, every week or so I pop up and we fight and you almost kill me with your sword and I fly away going 'you haven't seen the last of me!' and a week later we do it again. How about we just have a duel." Jack's not sure where Aku's proposed duel site is; Aku offers to give him a ride there. Also they decide they need to wrestle in loincloths for some reason.

– Their duel rules are no sword, no magic, no minions, Aku restricted to a human form/strength. Aku cheats, so Jack cheats by going for his sword; Aku reveals he's additionally cheated by bringing a minion that already stole Jack's sword; and this conversation ensues:

So, taken all together:

they're mutually obsessed with each other

as long as both of them exist at the same time their lives are defined by each other

they're mutually willing to swallow the hate for extended periods when it gets them something beneficial

Aku's put himself in a position where he was willing to act very friendly/potentially romantic with Jack

Starting with Aku, they're willing to treat this murdering-each-other business like a chore they both just have to deal with rather than something driven by burning loathing

they both know each other so well that they can predict each other's moves several steps ahead

they've fought near-naked, voluntarily

aaand Aku signs notes to Jack "Love, AKU ♡"

And as a bonus, they were both born on the same day, Jack as the heir to the sole weapon that could kill Aku, Aku knowing his whole life that Jack was & is the only person that could destroy him. Something something entwined destinies.

As a bonus-bonus, Jack ultimately hooks up with Aku's daughter so like, you could read into that if you want to. She doesn't resemble her dad much though. I don't count it but I wouldn't knock someone else for counting it.

So, it's not enough material for a shipper to say "this is gay." Neither one of them expresses any hint that they'd feel empty or unfulfilled if the other one was dead; neither one expresses a grudging admiration for any of the other's traits; neither one hints that he has some sort of void in his life that the audience realizes the other one of them could fulfill.

But it's enough material for a shipper to say "I can make it gay."

It'd be easiest to push it straight into "homoerotic foe" "my hatred fuels my passion" "I'm so obsessed with you that it simply transmuted into another kind of obsession" territory.

But a ship based on them liking each other would take more creativity and either a major AU or a major characterization adjustment. Some hero/villain ships you can go "well one's good and one's evil, but that isn't necessarily a dealbreaker"; this is one ship where it's 100% a dealbreaker on Jack's side and 80%-100% a dealbreaker on Aku's side. (It's clear Jack hates evil & evildoers; but we don't know whether Aku HATES good & do-gooders, or just looks down on them and hates them when they're trying to stop him. But however he feels, he sure doesn't admire good.)

Someone claiming they could make them like each other without changing someone's characterization would very much be an "I'm skeptical that you could, yet intrigued that you may" situation.

Also kind of related to the last alicent ask-- how objectively funny is it that the targaryens pulled alicent kicking and screaming into their weird blood purity incest tangle. For them, having uncle fathers and brother husbands and just generally blurring all the lines between family and romantic interest is sooooo normal. Yes its done massive damage to their psyches as we've seen with daemon in particular- but its passé to them at this point. For Alicent its breaking her BRAIN.

Like, Alicent who's deeply religious in a very westerosi faith and has classic nuclear family adjacent issues in contrast- overbearingly strict father, dead pedestalized mother to emulate, estranged sibling- is just SHOVED into the targaryen familial polycule and told to figure it out.

She keeps trying to bind herself to westerosi gender roles for comfort and safety, but bc of the targs she's now married an father/uncle figure, the girl who was supposed to be her sister growing up is now her daughter AND shes in love with her, her children are basically her siblings, and ALSO she's two of their mother in law(s?). Throw in the desperate parentification of aemond bc its not like viserys is helping her raise these kids-and its fucking her up!!! how is she supposed to have any sense of self when every role she would define herself by in a patriarchal westerosi culture has been fractured into twisted branches!!

It spiders into her other rationships too!! Her father otto has been treating her like both a daughter AND a pseudo wife, criston her lover keeps trying to assert himself over her choices in a very fatherly condescending way, and her brother gwayne is out in oldtown fathering her third son.

I sent an ask a while ago about how the tragedy of the alicent/rhaenyra/aegon triangle is that its an allegory for how targs just cant acclimate to westeros at all and end up breaking their dynasty AND the country by trying to force their culture to fit anyways, and i think you were so right in ur response that its not just rhaenyra/aegon/alicent who are the allegory but its ALL the targs in relation to alicent thats the allegory- they just cannot work with Alicent/westeros while she/its trapped in the current westerosi culture.

this is a great point, and if you also go back to her as a child saying "you targaryens do have very queer customs" with noticeable disgust on face, and flash forward a decade later where she's marrying two of her children together in typical targaryen incest practices. I wish they had explored this more in the show and looked into how she feels about this currently, but I can't imagine she feels too great about it, and it's probably the reason why she went ULTRA religious with a five pound star medallion almost hanging from her neck. she wants at least some repentance for playing along in targaryen incest rituals, which goes against everything she was raised to believe

and like you mentioned, if you look close enough, almost EVERY relationship that alicent has is majorly twisted by either targaryen customs or her own stunted growth from being a child bride. she's now a grown woman who still has the mind of a 15 year old and is trying to navigate a civil war that she helped ignite in her rage and jealousy over her own private hell for last decade. she also swings from a protective parent role to having an almost eldest sibling like relationship with her kids who desperately crave more motherly affection from her that she is just not able to give (because she cant completely seal off her deep down resentment of them)

and to top it off, the purest relationship in her life (rhaenyra) with genuine love was also twisted into a familial one through an arranged marriage. if you also headcanon her possible romantic feelings for rhaenyra, you can times three that trauma on your score card as well

alicent literally was forced into the targaryen world of the snake eating its own tail (reduced to a bargaining chip for otto) with decades of inbreeding and family infighting for power and control and was told to play nice with them. no wonder she's out in the woods wandering around and dissociating lmao

Mmm, maybe? Asmr is a pretty varied genre, and I feel like there's a lot of irregular/messy/gross/unpredictable material that would have an irritating effect on him rather than relaxing.

Machete might occasionally give mindfulness exercises and audio guided meditation a honest try, thanks to his therapist's recommendation. He'd be secretive about the whole thing because of his own scepticism and embarrassement about having to resort to such "unscientific methods" to keep himself stable. His results would vary, but it would be vastly preferable to his previous favorite coping habit of stress smoking.

Vasco would be a rain/fireplace sounds enjoyer, yes, and I can imagine him layering them with his music of choice on occasion. But he's also a natural-born grass toucher so if he needs a moment to clear his head, he might just go for a walk. Lately I've been envisioning him having an interest in vinyl records and (film) cameras, so he might not be overly reliant on screens for fun and relaxation as a person.

I wonder if Jazz could be a catalyst for Orion realizing he isn’t that special. Because B-127 definitely is going to view Orion as extremely special and important, and Elita may view him as especially annoying. But to Jazz, Orion is just a cool coworker and a fun guy to be around, who does reckless stuff but also likes to help. So long as he doesn’t get Prime-dazzled, he could be a great part of Optimus grounding himself in realizing he is also just some guy.

ooohh i love that idea! personally i think elita would still be critical for orion's character development in this au, but adding jazz to the mix could be really fun!

the thing about orion's arc in this au is that he has to let go of the idea that him being a prime since birth makes him inherently worthy of leading. both because that's a pretty conceited way of thinking and because it places an unreasonable amount of pressure on him.

the high guard are absolutely no help on this because to them orion being a Prime is the foundation upon which they've set all their hopes for the future. he's their last hope and they've built up an idea of what he would grow up to be like throughout all the years they've been apart. and when they finally reunite and he inevitably fails to meet up their expectations, their disappointment is so great it causes a lot of them to lose all their faith on the Primes and Primus as a whole.

which. not a great thing to put on a twenty something years old kid who just got his entire world shaken to its very foundation!

bee is not nearly as bad as the high guard about this, but he's definitely a little bit too starstruck to really give orion the grounding presence he needs for this. like. bee would've followed orion pretty much to the end of the world simply because he was the first friend he'd had in so long. so add to that orion being revealed as a Prime and bee is simply too attached now to really tell orion off in any way.

not to mention orion feels a bit too responsible for bee to let him know just how shaken and terrified he is by what bee clearly sees as something amazing. personally i see bee as just a couple years younger than the rest of the squad but enough so that orion feels compelled to take care of him in some level. more like a younger brother than a son, but still firmly in the "I have to be strong for him" zone.

now for elita i think she would be perfect to make orion understand he's being incredibly idiotic by thinking being a Prime inherently makes him a good leader. she worked her aft off to be captain of just one (1) miner crew and she's better than him in everything so what makes him think just being born with a fancy title is sufficient to lead an entire army. he has to put in the work too. there's simply no way around it.

and in contrast jazz can make him see that it's okay. it's fine that he's not the perfect Prime already. that he's not an irremediable failure just because he failed once. orion saved his life back when he was nothing but a reckless miner with nothing but spite and a good heart to his name. even when he messed up and got in trouble, he never stopped trying to help. that's why he liked him. why would him being a Prime change that.
