i have to stress that i made brendan 20 at the start on inquisition and he’s all grace and humility, and scared shitless of being called the herald, while embracing people’s faith and trying to do right by them, and AT MOST, he’s 22 by the time they defeat corypheus and the inquisition is cemented into legend, and 24 by the time of trespasser (if im scuffing the timelines idc it’s my right) when the world is suddenly pulled out from under him by someone who he trusted, respected, and looked to for guidance.

all this is to say when he and solas are finally face-to-face again in datv and brendan is now 32, missing an arm (thanks pal), with permanent dark circles (because he hasn’t had a single good night of sleep since the anchor was removed), and a receding hairline, the stress of the years since written plainly on his face AND IS STILL insisting to everyone around him that solas is good and can be reasoned with in spite of it ALL… oh i hope it hurts like hell.

felassan things that kept me awake last night:

the 4,000 year time span between the veil and the masked empire during which felassan could only ever have spoken to solas in dreams when at all.

the years solas spent in the lighthouse with all those fucking notes from felassan around. "don't cause too much trouble before i get there."

the only time anyone says felassan's name out loud in the video games is when solas says it in an ancient arlathan memory

solas not painting felassan a mural in the lighthouse and only referring to him as "my agent," once, but still regretting what happened with him so much that it's one of the three big revenants powered by his regret, after the titans and mythal???? sir your repression

the ambiguity of "the betrayal of felassan" as the name of that revenant. whose betrayal of whom.

the heart of corruption/revenant dragon residing in the same place felassan used to go to get away from everything.

felassan calling it "our rebellion."

felassan being aware that he would die if he reported back to solas, seeing a plausible way he could run instead, and reporting back anyway.

the tone he takes during his death scene being so friendly and nonchalant, "what's the harm really" and "i suspect you'll hate this," like he's still trying to talk to solas like they are friends and equals even while he is aware solas is about to kill him.

felassan isn't even his real/original name and in one of his veilguard notes he refers to being felassan at all as being "solas's friend felassan" like that identity is inextricably tied to his friendship with solas, he cannot be felassan without also being solas's friend.

If Felassan had a nickel for every time he fell for his boss, he’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.

I mean, if you think about it, Felassan's slow arrow worked. By refusing to get the Eluvian key, he bought just enough time for Solas to grow attached to the world, just attached enough that he could be either saved or stopped.

Solas had to kill Felassan because Felassan would have heard that a man named Solas joined the Inquisition and signed up immediately just to follow the Inquisitor around and be like “you know this reminds me of a Dalish legend about Fen’Harel stop me if you’ve heard this one before have I told you about the time Andruil almost tricked him into being her lover for a year” while Solas sweats bullets in the background knowing he can’t interrupt or stop him without looking suspicious as hell

Felassan is a fucking weirdo. He's so over everything. He says the most insane shit. When asked about it he pulls "idk, I'm Dalish?" out of his ass and doesn't even have the decency to make it sound true.
