Prongsfoot Week 2022: Day 1

When and Why did you begin to Ship Prongsfoot? 

my memory is trash so i’m not sure i can give a ~precise answer but here’s what i can say with complete confidence.

i’ve always, always considered james and sirius to be soulmates.

i’ve been writing fic since 2017 and even as far back as then, the one thing i cared about was the bond these two share. i was absolutely in love with their dynamic and had a whole series called ‘Behind The Scenes’ which was just the most random stuff centred around these two. i think, even before harry & sirius, i fell in love with these two idiots.

when it comes to prongsfoot, specifically in a romantic/qpp context, i think that was a bit later. i don’t really care for romance, as much as i do read it. i shifted to this bc i ran out of all friendship fics and needed more stuff where they were each other’s no. 1. i was also, admittedly, spoiled by daily chan’s works where have the most amazing friendship. which is how i discovered prongsfoot and basically just never left.

What makes you Ship it? 

oooooh how do i answer this 🤔

fiction, for me, is a form of extreme escapism. i read so i don’t have to think about real life. i read so i can discover new possibilities and universes. it’s why i’ve read the weirdest, most interesting selection of fics hp has to offer (and if you’ve truly taken a deep dive into the fandom, u know what that’s like)

in that context, prongsfoot is literally the single most comforting dynamic i’ve ever seen.

they embody everything i love in theory but wouldn’t be able to stomach if it happened to me. their ride-or-die closeness, the emotional & physical intimacy, being two halves of the same mind, body, soul—it’s just so, so beautiful. like the stuff of legends.

i love how the two of them complete each other. they’re both privileged, smug bastards but they’ve got these little nooks and crannies that’s filled by the other, effortlessly. i love how out of everyone’s league they are, and the contrast to how they are w others vs each other. there is no scenario i can imagine that would break them up ykno? they’re just that close.

also ok. as i was thinking of ending this here (bc brain isn’t cooperating lol words aren’t easy these days) i remembered me ranting to my friend one day about sirius and his relationship with the potters, particularly james. it is a point of pride for me that i literally made her so emotional that she actually teared up and had a dramatic drop trail down her cheek bc of how passionately i was monologuing & the picture i was painting. (my other friend who doesn’t rly know/care ab hp but loves me also sat through the whole 20min presentation and was moved as well)

the gist of it is this: i love, love, love sirius black. he’s my first and only love. and one of the biggest reasons is how fucking loyal he is. he’s so selfless and so wonderful and a fkn godsend to have in ur corner. and he was so devoted to james and then harry that he tried to do everything in his power to protect these two, including putting himself in harms way multiple times without even caring about his life.

that kind of ‘i’ll do anything for you—burn the world down and rebuild it’ energy? my absolute favourite dynamic ever. i go batshit feral over it. and the way i see james, he’s the same for sirius. he’ll go to bat for him at all times, zero hesitation. he might be a chill, laid back guy most of the time but try coming after his Si and he will fuck you up. he’s underestimated bc he’s such a puppy but nope, he’s v deadly and v dangerous too. and he will not hesitate to show it when he’s protective.

i also just think they fit so fkn well ykno? like yah canon’s trash and all + Ash was so right for mentioning the advantage of only getting 5 lines but what we did get for these two??? i’ll forever be mad that j/s didn’t become the primary mainstream ship for the fandom. its so ??? like literally all ur material is right there. ‘not a day goes by…’; the mirrors???; the symbolism of azkaban—sirius losing his joy and hope and life the literal moment he loses the potters (esp james?); always, always being together; the entirety of swm!!!!! literally there’s no lack of content. u even have fkn outsider pov of a classic ‘historians: and they were just friends 😌’ scenario. it’s literally a queer tragedy, ok?

tbh, as a relationship ideal, prongsfoot isn’t something that would ever appeal to me irl—that level of intimacy—but to read? to imagine? it’s wonderful. and that’s not to even mention how enjoyable this niche is. i get consistently good fics (when i can find them amongst the mess of tags lol) and the best community <333

attack on titan characters - birth chart analysis 🌙

Here is my take on the big 6 of Levi, Eren, Armin and Mikasa of attack on titan/shingeki no kyojin! I kept their sun signs since we know the day and month of their birthday and since I think they’re absolutely perfect. If you want me to do my take on the others (like Jean, Historia, Erwin, Hanji, Connie, Sasha, Reiner, etc) please let me know! (spoiler warning!)

Levi Ackerman

sun in capricorn - levi mf ackerman is fuelled by three things and three things only: LOYALTY, a strong moral code and power. he is seen by most people as a heartless, unemotional bastard but is canonically the most emotional character - he shows love through very indirect ways and he’s the peak of capricorn in the sense that he represses his emotions – he smiled literally ONE time in four seasons, and didn’t once shed a tear. he’s very hard to read. has a lot of respect for his superiors and follows the orders of only those he’s loyal to. he’s driven by his moral codes in the sense that the protection of humanity is his prime motive for fighting titans. like a true capricorn, is the master of his field of work and cares the most about being a survey corp member. please protect this tragic baby. 

virgo rising - two words: CLEAN FREAK. this man has a strong need to be presentable at all times and hates getting blood on his hands for the single fact that he needs himself and his environment to be clean. his obsession with being clean is very much due to his childhood trauma and how he lived in in poor conditions in the underground. he has many quirks that correlate with this: the way he holds his cup, the carvat he uses bc of his mother, and the way he always cuts his own hair because that’s the way his mother used to do it.  intimidating and demands respect. DRY HUMOUR. 

moon in scorpio - i think he has many similarities with mikasa, especially in the moon and venus. introverted and hates people but will go to the ends of the earth to protect the ones he loves and respects. represses emotions and internalizes his hatred until he has a mental breakdown - which happens in the form of extreme violence. VERY sensitive and emotional even if he doesn’t show it. he’s very intuitive and often acts based on gut; he’s secretive and vindictive. very wise and great at giving advice. doesn’t let himself get manipulated and uses shitty situations to his advantage (like with the reeves company). trust is the most important thing to him.

mercury in aquarius - levi is extremely logical, and hates when others involve their feelings in the making of decisions. his decisions are always backed up by strong arguments and others often see him as cold and detached. i saw someone  mention something extremely interesting about aquarius mercury’s/people with their mercuries in the 11th house: despite not being very sociable, others are drawn to them for friendships – and often they’re the introverts who get “adopted” by extroverts. this is 100% levi’s case, hanji and erwin practically adopted him. being very vulgar with his words and having a distinctive sense of humour, he’s very humanitarian and is actually really talkative but only when he’s very comfortable around someone. blunt, always tells it like it is – like when he tells eren he can’t know what the right choice really is and he needs to choose it himself. teases and insults his friends as a form of affection.

mars in scorpio - levi’s a fighter, a survivor. he knows what it’s like to come from nothing and have to build himself up. very confrontational. reclaims his power by exerting intimidation and mastering violence. others fear doing as much as make a joke at his expense. understands other’s motivations and characters very easily. he’s very intuitive. very serious due to his need for having an intense and demanding presence, for being respected and valued. he’s the one who everyone sighs of relief when things go to shit and he appears because you know he’s the strongest and most dependable person.

venus in capricorn - good luck getting this motherfucker to open up. his trust is very hard to gain but is necessary for working with him – he places his full trust in his comrades and demands the same from them. very work-oriented and takes relationships very serious; it’s really telling that he cares little for romance because capricorn venuses are the ones to date to marry, and will only devote themselves to someone once they believe they’ve met the one. they either want a more powerful and mature partner or they exude that energy (levi is the latter). slightly parental – we see this in the way that levi is pretty much the dad figure. it’s called squad levi for a reason, after all. very responsible. takes care of loved ones and often uses tough love as a form of discipline.

Eren Jaeger - im not even kidding with this one, he has extreme aries energy

sun in aries - eren feels the need to be very independent and he hates whenever he has to depend on mikasa and others, wanting to be strong enough to reverse the roles. he’s very self-confident, bold and direct. very impulsive, he’s quick to anger but is also very quick to forget - especially seen with his arguments with jean, fighting him is basically a love language at this point. aries suns are very fast thinkers and their strong energy may come off as intimidating. they have great intentions but that often becomes muddled with their impulsivity and the fact that they don’t think ideas through. eren is unabashedly himself and fights relentlessly for what he wants. his aries energy also makes him extremely motivated! he believes in the impossible and will make it happen no matter what.

aries rising – aries risings are the trailblazers. they ooze intensity. eren has very much a baby face and, due to his impulsivity and childish charm, people tend to baby him a lot – in the sense that he’s this kid surrounded by adults who needs supervision at all times or he’ll get into deep shit. aries risings are also marked by their extreme need for action, they’re the ones to do now and apologize later instead of asking for permission to do something in the first place. he is guided by his passion and is a natural leader who inspires everyone to fight alongside him. aries risings have a lot of energy which they need to express in a physical way, making them be prone to be very athletic and lead very active lives. he’s also extremely competitive and is driven by the force of becoming stronger than mikasa, and often feels angry when he realizes how stronger than him other people can be. at the same time, this pressure to be better is put solely on himself. he’s a dumbass with a good-heart and pure intentions.

moon in sagittarius – all this motherfucker talks about is freedom and seeing the world past the walls. he craves adventure and is extremely optimistic. but even if a sagittarius moon needs their freedom, they are still absolutely ride-or-dies and once they’ve commited to something, NOTHING or NO ONE can stop their determination. these are also the people to try their best to always appear cheerful and full of determination to hide their sad façade – like when he was nearly vomiting when talking about the titans to the other recruits when they began the training in the military but still forced himself to say that the titans aren’t scary at all and that they aren’t a big deal; he naturally inspires others and fills them with courage. but the way they put on this strong and brave façade leads to a strong emotional turmoil, violent urges and a sudden hostility to others. they are filled with surpressed anger that can lead them through very destructive paths – and the happy-go-lucky child might just lose her hope. we see this in eren in the most heartbreaking way.

mercury in aries – LOUD!!! eren speaks what’s on his mind with NO hesitation whatsover. he’s very quick to defend his friends and points of view, and speaks openly about his passions and dreams. he’s very assertive and tenacious. short attention span and not afraid to give a different opinion from someone else’s. very passionate about what he argues about. very expressive and when an aries mercury disagrees with you, you’ll know it immediately by their facial expression. confident and thrives on inspiring others. remember him being mad when it was discovered the possibility of all titans being humans because now he didn’t know who the enemy is and he NEEDS to hate someone and blame them in order to keep going? ARIES MERCURY ENERGY!!

mars in aries - people look to mars in aries to lead them. they’re full of energy and dynamic, and very athletic - eren exceeds at hand-to-hand combat and, in the other subjects where he’s not so good, his determination makes him push forward and become better. VERY hot-headed and confrontational, which is both the source of all their problems and their strength - they are not afraid of going after what they want and are willing to go through any obstacle to do so, and they’re also not afraid of upsetting other people in order to do so. eren is courageous, loves to take initiative and is very enthusiastic - something that is very contageous. competitive and hates compromise, he likes getting his own way. aries mars are also very individualistic and can have a huge ego.

venus in pisces - i know this is going to confuse a lot of people - like, how does he have so much aries energy, how is he so intense yet has one of the softest venus placements? i deeply believe he’s a pisces venus, and here’s why. his friends are EVERYTHING to him. pisces venus’ love very deeply and are very dependent on their loved ones, and eren is extremely protective of his loved ones and is willing to do anything to protect them. pisces venus’ are very vengeful, too, something that people seem to brush off about them - they might not do anything when you mess with them but as soon as you mess with their friends it’s game over. i also get a lot of “there was no other way, the word had to be fixed” vibes from this placement? like, this placement gives me the energy of someone willing to commit awful crimes under the excuse of it being for the greater good, which is something he dramatically experiences as he grows older and witnesses the cruelty of the world.

Armin Arlert

sun in scorpio - armin very resourceful!! he easily adapts to the circunstances he’s in and works his way around it. very intelligent and with great memory. extremely manipulative, cunning and perceptive. scorpios are known for their capability to be great investigators due to their natural curiosity, and armin has this deep need to see the world outside of the walls and he studies all there is to know about it with great passion. determined to succeed. 

cancer rising - armin just wants to achieve his dream and it’s so soft. cancer risings are very receptive of other’s emotions and incredibly sensitive, but it’s difficult for them to open up to others. his appearance is very soft and delicate. loves to help others and has a naturally warm presence that makes others feel comfortable in his presence. give off a very grounded and stable energy, but this is often because they try to hide their most intense emotions and don’t know how to deal with them/don’t want to bother others by opening up about it. 

moon in pisces - one word: EMPATHY!!! very compassionate. tendency to become a martyr and be very self-sacrificial. VERY imaginative, he is the strategist, after all. can feel others emotions and read them very easily. avoids confrontation but feels a strong need to take the weight off of others’ shoulders and to solve all their problems. very loving and giving, in tune with his emotions and emotionally intelligent. on the other side, this caring side of him can make him see other people through rose-colored glasses, and he is prone to believing in the best in people and giving them the benefit of the doubt. but when they’ve proven their true nature to him, he’ll see them for what they are and will no longer defend them, even if still feeling remorse. notice how he’s always like “this had to be done, we had no other choice” to justify his actions.

mercury in scorpio - bro armin’s eyes are so intense. when he gets on his manipulative bullshit it’s IMPOSSIBLE to look away from his gaze. he practically communicates through the eyes. armin is very sharp and his innocent appearance has everyone still thinking of him as a sweet angel as if he isn’t a whole war criminal. he easily psychoanalizes others to know what they want and uses it to his advantage, like how he used berthold’s love for annie to manipulate him to let eren go after him and reiner kidnapped him. scorpio mercuries be knowing shit, they be knowing everyone’s secrets and others usually confide in them as if they’re their therapists.

𝐋𝐄𝐎 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐃𝐄𝐙 𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 have had the boldness of saying he was having a good day. No bloodthirsty monster nor megalomaniac Titan had decided to take over the world or rip him to pieces; he hadn’t had to dodge a meteor or plunge into the heart of a volcano; and to top it all off, he had not heard Percy sing once.

No, really, despite the cold, biting wind that froze the February morning, Leo Valdez was having a good day.

That is, of course, until you showed up.

Maybe it was his wind-swept curls blocking his eyes, maybe it was the whirring of Festus’ mechanical breathing under his fingertips, maybe it was the total peace of mind that inhabited him as he whistled to himself, but he had been impervious to his surroundings, surrendered to the memory of his aerial stroll with Calypso earlier in the morning, completely devoted to patching the dragon’s attrition up, so much so that he hadn’t heard you approaching at all. In his defense, he wasn’t expecting your visit after this many years, especially not on a cold morning in the woods of Long Island.

“Leo?”

“Woah, buddy, your clicks are starting to sound more and more like a real human voice. I might have to celebrate your first word soon.”

“Leo Valdez, behind you.”

He whirled around, and stupidly enough, the first thought that went through his mind was disappointment—so Festus wasn’t learning human communication after all, despite his best efforts. But when Leo pushed the hair out of his face and devised for the first time in four years your slightly embarrassed figure, hands buried in your pockets and abashed smile on your face, he couldn’t stop his jaw and heart from dropping.

So the suspect, gravelly grunt he had heard just before was not Festus protesting—duly noted. It was you, impatiently—and rather awkwardly—scratching your throat to catch his attention... You! After four years!

“Y/N?” he called out, and the way your name rolled off his tongue, with incredulity yet ease, was enough to remind you of how familiar his voice had once been.

“In the flesh. Ta-da,” you tentatively exclaimed, unsure about whether you should step toward him.

Leo seemed just as lost and confused as you were, eyeing you without truly processing it. No one, nothing had ever prepared him to face the return of someone he’d loved so dearly after losing them for so long. No prophecy had foretold any of this, no mischievous god had ever sent a cryptic message in a dream or smoke patterns. One day he had more or less started to accept the unshakeable hole you had dug in his heart when you left, and that he had tried to fill up as well as he could with new memories and songs and adventures — and the next you were waltzing back into his life as though he hadn’t spent the better part of four years struggling to forget you?

He took a small step forward without realizing it, but his body language read all but cordiality. A bubble of irritation started to form in the pit of his stomach and throat; he had started to fidget with his adjustable spanner.

“What are you doing here?”

“I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Behind him, Festus grated, a low and rumbling sound like still water stirring upon the approach of a storm. Leo swore he heard his heartbeats echoed in the loyal beast’s enormous ribcage.

“What do you want from me, Y/N? Haven’t you done enough?”

Oh, you had done more than enough. When you were friends and he had first fallen for you — you had mended his broken heart, stayed by his side as everyone went on to celebrate life and renewal and he was stuck in the downpour that Calypso’s first departure had wreaked. That was more than enough. When you were just a little more than friends and he had started to learn anew, step by step, what it meant to love, and first and foremost let himself be loved — you had been patient and kind, you had walked hand in hand with him on the road to healing, never pushing him to go further than he could. That was more than enough. When you were definitely more than friends, and he had found himself falling deeper in love with you with each passing day — you had loved him all the same, or so you promised, and made his every day an adventure and a safe embrace like no other. That was more than he ever deserved.

When you had left without warning for some foreign place on the other side of the world, leaving him only a note and a handful of colored glass shards, never to give a sign of life in four years...

That was more than enough.

You had dared to take one step forward, palms outstretched as if you were calming a wild animal. A frenzy of conflicting flames bubbled in Leo’s stomach — you were a stranger now to him, and he was once again happy with Calypso. Then why did he get the overwhelming urge to jump into your arms and rediscover the sweetness of your embrace?

“I’m so sorry, Leo, I never wanted to leave, I truly didn’t, but you have to understand —”

“Understand what? That whatever business you had to attend to was more important than me? That I meant so little to you that you just left me a post-it note with a sad smiley face on it and never came back? You didn’t send a word in four years! I bet you didn’t even think about me on February 29th!”

“Actually I left in April, but —”

“Can you imagine how hard it was for me to get over you? To forget you? No, scratch that—I haven’t forgotten you, no matter how hard I try to convince myself. But I was doing just fine, and you have a whole lotta nerve coming back now that I’m finally happy without you! ¡Pues huevos! ¡Al carajo todo esto!”

And he went on and on in a string of all the curses he’d remembered from when his mother argued on the phone, his cheeks reddening progressively, his breath faltering.

You stayed immobile, just an arms’ length apart from him until he had spewed out everything he’d carried for years. His chest trembled, shuddering at all the dust and waste it had swept under the rug, now displayed in full light before him; and you ached for him, underneath your cool composure, you truly did, just as you had ached yourself when you had left. How could you not? Leo had been light and warmth and fire and a comforting smell of smoke and gasoline and coffee-stained fingertips on your cheek and your neck... and most of all, the heart you would least have wanted to break.

“Leo...”

You murmured his name a few more times, until he looked up at you. Oh, that face, red and weepy and distorted by rage and overwhelm! How you hated it in those moments, like a cheap mask over a Roman statue!

“Leo, I’m so sorry. I know it doesn’t excuse anything, but trust me, I would never have done that if it wasn’t absolutely necessary.”

“What was, Y/N? What was more important than me?”

“I... I can’t tell you, Leo. I would if I could, but — “

“Of course! Even after four years, you’re still so full of secrets!”

“Jupiter told me not to say anything. To anyone.”

Leo’s parted lips, already fuming with more witty remarks, closed shut, and his chocolate eyes widened. The god of gods’ name was always enough to temper even the most boisterous of heroes’ fumes of anger, but not Leo’s erratic heart.

“Jupiter?”

“I got a mission from the gods. That’s why I left. To Rome. But they made me swear I didn’t say anything... not even an excuse.”

Leo swallowed, with difficulty, as if the information was a toxic flame permeating his throat. Before he could even register it, you continued, breathing deeply to steady your breathing:

“I owe you more than an apology... an explanation, at least. If you want to hear it... meet me in the woods at the gate of Camp Half-Blood at sundown. I’d understand if you didn’t come, but... just know that I’ll be waiting for you.”

For a split second, you were traversed by the thought, almost automatic, of leaning over to kiss Leo’s cheek, just like you had done it thousands of times to wish him goodbye; but you cut your impulses fast enough, only staring at his eyes for a few long minutes of dumbfounded silence before you turned on your heels and left.

In a single blink, the wind had caught your silhouette and carried it into the shadows of the trees.

And Leo stood there, colder than he would have admitted, motionless and partly oblivious to Festus’ impatient whirring over his shoulder. His chest rose and fell rapidly, quicker than the leaves rustling in the breeze; it had dried in his eyes too much for any tears to well up, despite the painful pang spreading in his chest. Had it not been for the weight in his ribcage, he could’ve believed you were but a ghost in the forest...

When you had left him without a word nor even a glimpse of a smile, Jason had admonished him to be brave and stronger than whatever misery you had inflicted; to not let any of your little games gnaw at his head and drive him wild. It was how Jason had always dealt with heartbreak and hardship because he was built of cold marble and electric stone; but despite Leo’s best efforts to follow his advice, he was Hephaestus’s son. Neither of them was exactly known for their fine handling of matters of the heart...

He had believed his inalterable strength would come back to him with Calypso. It was an endless ebb and flow between the two of you, each consoling him after the other left and tore a little piece of his heart. She had promised she’d be better — better than you, or than herself the first time around, he didn’t know, but he had believed her all the same.

But maybe what Leo had mistakenly taken for strength when he laughed himself to death with Calypso and captured her entirely with his lips, might have been solely absence. He had always had a knack for following in your steps... just like you had slipped from his embrace without a word, he had disappeared from himself imperceptibly.

Maybe he loved Calypso, truly and sincerely... but not in the way that allowed him to find himself.

Well, to hell with courage, with Jason’s heroic virtue and rectitude. Leo was realizing just then that the reason he clung so desperately to your memory was that he wasn’t ready to let it go just yet, and if it made him a coward, he accepted the fate with open arms.

Klaus is surprised, to say the least when you come into the apartment raging, fingernails chewed off and eyes red as if you'd been crying on your walk home from work. Work was your only place, save for home, where you seemed truly happy. He notices your shaking and the barely contained rage behind the clench of your jaw.

“Hey! Hey, is everything alright?” he puts a hand out to stop you from pacing, and you turn on him, eyes glassy and red.

“Do you know what she said about us?”

What the fuck? Who would have said that? You talk to his siblings. Your boss. And. Oh. Okay, you talk to Gwen, your roommate from your University days that you recently gotten in touch with again. Klaus doesn't like her. It’s hard to get on Klaus’ bad side, but she seemed… pushy. Not pushy. What's the word he’s trying to use? Controlling? Scheming? Yeah, those are the ones. Accuracy cuts deeper, you always tell him. He pets your arm, feeble in trying to calm you down but after a few ragged open-mouthed breaths, you’re ready.

“She called us Sid and Nancy,” you continue, “She said we live in a sex den above a bodega slowly killing each other, if not outright doing it. She thinks you’re gonna get me high again. She basically met up with me up to judge me and tell me everything I’m doing wrong. I didn't even get to tell her about that paella we made last week for your whole family.”

He knows how you feel right now, better than anyone. He’s used to being the one discounted and lectured. His own siblings, as much as he loves them dearly, only just started trusting him in the span of the past two years. It felt like something divine, that despite how mean and secluded you were at first, how you trusted him so deeply so quickly. He’d known you for almost a year, and in that year dragged you to another century, gotten you involved in a cult, exposed you to his family, ghosts, challenging and difficult situations other people could have easily cracked under without disease plaguing their mind. Klaus is capable of great cruelty and recklessness, he knows it. He knows you shouldn't trust someone who has seen and done the frankly fucked up shit he has, but you do. And he trusts you fully in turn, if not more. She cares for a lot people (though considers very few her friends), so I’m going to limit it to a few of her prominent “anchors” (her boon/curse makes it very difficult to discern what feelings are her own, so Del’s anchors are people she knows for certain she has her own connection to, they “anchor” her to her humanity, and for reasons she doesn’t understand, their emotions impact her more strongly than others. There are also negative anchors, like some of the people she’ll kill in the course of her Fourth Ideal, but this ain’t about them). 

Jasnah -- Del has worked for Jasnah ever since she was sent to kill her, about a year after Gavilar’s assassination. Whatever it was she sensed in Jasnah’s heart broke her brainwashing and convinced her there were greater causes to serve. It took Jasnah years to trust her, and Jasnah keeps even those dear to her at arms length, but they care about each other and are as close as two people like them can be. Del isn’t really capable of seeing anyone with rose tinted glasses, but she served Jasnah unquestioningly for years, and I live for her showing up at Jasnah’s door just before RoW (she returned to Rall Elorim after OB expecting to be executed and Nale ruined everyone’s day by conscripting her to the Order of Skybreakers) to tell Jasnah that she needed to prove that a Skybreaker swearing themselves to her would be a wise decision. Tbh, I’m pretty proud of their weird and complicated dynamic. Also if anyone ever guessed that Del once had feelings for Jasnah... you are correct, and I still kinda wish that ship could have worked.

Talion -- highspren are generally considered distant, compared to the spren of other Orders, but Del nevertheless draws a lot of comfort from Talion’s presence, when they bond near the end of RoW. As long as Del never breaks her oaths, she is no danger to Talion. I’m looking forward to writing their KoW scenes; the nature of nahel bonds and what Del is means that Talion (re)learns human understanding and pain faster than she ever has before (she’s OLD even by spren standards, and has bonded plenty of Skybreakers before). It’s gonna hurt and I’m looking forward to it [finger guns]. 

Kaladin -- their dynamic is my bicycle for exploring the similarities and differences between Windrunners and Skybreakers, and I’m really fond of it. Del understands him, not only because of her empathic nature, but also because many of her own issues mirror his. She could have an interesting discussion with Syl about the fact that sometimes complete understanding of another’s burdens freezes you up and makes you even less qualified to help them. By RoW, I’d say they’re friends, after two years of him squinting at her for being an assassin (valid), and she’s gonna spend KoW going “nice try, buddy, I’ll go to therapy when you do” while he tears his hair out in annoyance and I think that’s just very sexy of her. 

Moash -- though Del doesn’t remember her older brother or anything of her life before joining those of no name, Moash calls to her mind the feeling of caring for someone so much that she would be willing to die for them, and she quickly grows attached to him in WoR. This feeling has remained all the way through to the present. She is incapable of seeing him as some irredeemable evil, despite acutely feeling the pain of people he has hurt, rather she understands that Moash actually represents a very common world view among humanity, and she quietly wants so badly for him to find his place of belonging. Kaladin and Talion are the only people she has confided in about this.

Oro -- her mentor while Del was among those of no name. They’ve known each other since Del was 12, holy shit. Oro at the time played the part of an antagonist, and had goaded Del into her first kill. I don’t think Del understood until her visit to the Nightwatcher that Oro encouraged wholesale devotion to the organisation, not because she loved it and was unflinchingly loyal, but because she was broken and couldn’t stand the thought of seeing any more children killed for disobeying orders. Even before this understanding led Del to love her like a mother, she respected her greatly. And Oro definitely taught her that it is worth being hated by people you care about, if it means you stand a better chance of keeping them safe. 

Kazien -- her mentor among the Skybreakers. They disagree 67% of the time but they’re FAMILY and Del definitely breathed a sigh of relief when the battle of Emul was over and she knew he was still alive. 

Nale -- I’m gonna leave this for another time because it’s LONG, but in short: he makes her very angry and very sorry for him all at once. 

THIS IS GETTING LONG, SO: Masha (who belongs to @theropunk), a Dustbringer who is her opposite in a lot of ways. Ryz, a Lightweaver she has known since she was in those of no name and reconnects with years later bc spren are meddlesome. Harry Mason: Harry is peak boyfriend & husband material without a doubt. He has some issues with staying in his own lane (always getting involved in other people’s business, even though he usually doesn’t mean to), but that just means you get to gossip together once he’s done working for the day. He’s a little on the sporty side surprisingly enough, but mostly because being an author requires being mostly sedentary. Harry prefers hiking, but he’ll go to the gym if he doesn’t want to/can’t do the drive. He’d be thrilled if you came with him, but equally happy if you looked after Cheryl/Heather so he can have a quick break.

Pros: considerate, respectful of you and your space, always makes time for you.

Cons: has a kid and that’s not a lot of people’s thing, a little airheaded even tho he means well.

Conclusion: You should date Harry Mason (if you’re okay with kids).

Henry Townshend: The shy, creative type of boyfriend. Marriage is a little hefty of a word; you’d have to be together for a long time. He really does try his best, though; he knows how bad his parents were, and he wants to do better. His favourite thing to do is play sports in the park with his friends, and it’s kind of a dream date for him. However, Lisa’s addiction isn’t something to be romanticized or taken lightly. That, on top of being a prison escapee- even though Anne presumably covered for him as per the good ending, he’s considered a dead man. It wouldn’t be a normal relationship, and it wouldn’t be easy. You can rarely go anywhere with him and you move frequently, putting a strain on your relationship. Murphy would love you, but he may break it off, just to keep you out of harms way.

Pros: honest, loyal to a fault, and passionate about everything he cares for, including you.

James Sunderland: James’ marriage lasted for years, so it’s safe to say he understands relationships. That being said.. we all know how that ended. James is miserable. He’s devoted to his partner but keeps to himself; a relationship with James is a relationship with his own desire for punishment. He wants his partner to treat him the way he deserves to be treated. Unless you have extreme patience and are willing to help James (and most likely Laura as well, going by the Leave ending), and even then, it’s not a healthy relationship. James can never move past the guilt of what he’s done.

Get ready to hurt.

It happens so suddenly that Geralt finds himself stunned and stumbling like a soldier in his first battle.

He’s surrounded in a field full of growling, snapping ghouls trying to kill the fucking massive alghoul in the center when he hears it.  Unmistakable despite the unexpectedness.

“Geralt!”

Jaskier’s voice is high on adrenaline and foolish courage as he rushes into the fray with his Geralt’s spare sword held high. He slashes at the ghouls who turn toward the noise, managing through luck or skill to hack off the head of the first and shove another away.

Geralt curses viciously--torn between the need to protect the damn fool and the logic of killing the alghoul first.  

The beast decides it for him, slamming one hand into Geralt’s chest and leaping to close the distance between itself and Jaskier.

Jaskier turns--blue eyes wide and frightened--and takes the hit on his side, falling beneath the onslaught of a monster of nightmare and legend.  He disappears beneath the weight of it.

And Geralt sees red.

He feels his hands grip onto the oily, slick, and rotting skin of the next ghoul and yanks its head loose in one vicious pull.  His sword moves in a violent arc through the next, clearing the way to the alghoul with almighty purpose.

He can’t get the image of Jaskier’s expression out of his mind.

It drives him to madness as he roars and slams his weight against the alghoul--the last of the monsters left in a field of blood and viscera.  The beast shrieks, bloodied jaws reaching for his throat, but Geralt is beyond caring.  His sword is too large for such close conflict so he lets it fall to the grass, rolling with the rotting creature as they struggle bodily for control.

His hand slips low and finds the familiar hilt on his thigh.  

He thrusts upward, blade moving like an extension of himself.  High and sharp and cutting deep--

He feels the wet pull of muscle giving way beneath his fingers and snarls into the face of the beast above him--

A twist, and then it goes still, face frozen in a permanent maw of agony.

Geralt lays still for a moment, panting, before he shoves the carcass off of him and gets to his feet.  His heart is still pounding a vicious rhythm in his chest thanks to the adrenaline and potion he’d downed before wading into the fray.  He scans the impromptu battlefield desperately, terrified of what he’d find.

Then, a groan and a small shift of movement.

Panic and terror gives way to anger as Jaskier slowly gets to his feet using Geralt’s sword as a crutch.  He turns--his face streaked with mud and oily blood--and beams at Geralt.

“Well, Geralt, I think we really proved--”

“What the fuck do you think you were doing?” Geralt’s voice is whip quick and carries the same sting.  He sees Jaskier’s expression falter, but he’s near seething now.  “I told you not to come near this area.”

“I know, but you didn’t come back when you said and I--”

“What?  You thought you would be able to come in and save me?” Geralt’s sneer felt as sharp as the ghoul’s hunger.  “Did you really think you would be anything but a gigantic pain in my ass here?”

Jaskier’s voice trembles slightly and he leans more heavily against the sword.  “Geralt-”

“The only thing you are good for is crafting lies to charm women into your bed and getting on my last damn nerve--neither of which is any good here!” Geralt paces away from him, trying to blow off some of his frustration by kicking on of the corpses.

“Please, I--”

“What, Jaskier?  How could you possibly think that I would be glad to see you rush in like a damn fool just to get yourself included in the next stupid ballad you--”

Geralt’s words give way to horrified silence a moment after Jaskier fell unconscious on the ground.

He runs forward, ignoring the mud soaking into his clothes as he pulls Jaskier up against his chest.  The bard is pale, completely limp in his grip.  The stolen sword falls to the ground from lifeless fingers and Geralt feels his fury drain away so quickly he is breathless.

“Jaskier,” he calls, shaking the man.  “Jaskier, wake up.”

Nothing.  

The only sound he hears is the echo of his vicious words and the heart beneath his palms beginning to slow...

The bite is high on the chest, just above a dusky nipple and the heart that continues to pulse weakly.

The sight of it makes Geralt feel a cold sweat creep down his back.  A ghoul’s bite is poison for human, Vesemir’s voice murmurs from his memories.  Better to kill the poor creature than to let it make the change.

Just the thought of using one of his blades to slit Jaskier’s throat makes him turn and vomit bile and  regret onto the grass.  

There are more injuries littering Jaskier’s body, but Geralt knows that it is the bite that will doom them both.  Already black lines filled with poison are spreading away from the cutting--taunting Geralt with their inevitability.  This close to Jaskier’s most vital organs, it might only be a few hours before the bard would draw his last breath and awake a monster.

Unless...

Geralt’s hands shake as the reach for the knife at his side.  It’s still caked with ghoul’s blood and he pauses to wipe it clean meticulously.  He reaches out and cups one of Jaskier’s clammy, cold cheeks and whispers,

“Forgive me.”

And begins to cut.

Jaskier’s wakes--wild and glassy-eyed--after Geralt makes the second incision.

The ghouls blood stinks like rotten pus and burns like acid as it drips sluggishly from each carefully placed cut around the bite.  His mouth is bloody from coaxing the black liquid free and his hands are forced to pin Jaskier flat against the earth as he works.

The bard screams, high and agonized.  His eyes fix on Geralt mindlessly and tear carve pale trails through the dirt streaked across his face.

“Please--no!  Don’t!” he begs, “Geralt, please!”

Geralt grits his teeth, feeling his own eyes burn at the betrayal in those blue eyes. “I have to get the poison out.”

His knife digs deep once more, the line jagged as Jaskier arches bodily in a weak attempt to escape the pain.  He thrashes, wild as an animal caught in a trap, and sobs.

“Please, Geralt.  I’m sorry.  I’m so sorry.  Please, I’m sorry.”

The bard babbling cuts off with another scream as more blood gushes from the wound.  His body seizes and Geralt is forced to lay bodily against his in an attempt to keep him from hurting himself more. 

Geralt’s heart is made of ice and stone as he sees the last of the darkened and sickly blood run clear of the wound.  His hand clenches around the slick handle of his knife and he takes a deep breath.  The scent of poison and rot has faded now beneath the acid sharp scent of pain radiating from the sobbing bard.

He takes a breath and tells himself he deserves this suffering.

His hands trace the sigil Igni as he looks over the trembling man beneath him, face turned away from the Witcher and teeth chattering in agony.

He waits until the blade is red hot before he presses it firmly against the bite.

Jaskier’s scream sends the birds into flight.

There are no towns close enough to risk moving the bard nor does he have some hidden trick that will summon a mage or a healer to his side.  It is the first time since the mountains of Cairgorn that he has wished to see Yennefer, if only for her ability to heal what he seems incapable of not destroying.

Jaskier is still in his arms as Geralt carries him out of the woods and down a game trail that takes him to the trapper’s cabin that had started the mess.  There are scratches and blood along the walls, but the door and windows are still intact.  The bed stinks of old sweat, but Geralt finds fresh sheets laying limp and forgotten on the clothesline outside.

He makes the bed quickly, the unfamiliar task sped by the sight of Jaskier lying silently on the ground nearby.

The silence, he decides, might be the worst of it.  It gives him plenty of time to remember the cruelty of his voice and the hurt he seemed to spew at Jaskier at every opportunity.  Somehow, he always manages to lash out against the only person who has ever remained loyal and devoted even after seeing the worst parts of him.

But this, this might be the final blow that brings Jaskier’s endless faith to its knees.

Geralt tries to tell himself that he could watch Jaskier leave him if it meant the bard would survive this.  

It is little comfort.

Geralt stands watch over the too-still body for three days before he begins to hope that Jaskier might live.

He’s barely left the small bedside except to call for Roach and bring water and food for the bard.  He washed away the blood and mud until Jaskier looks soft and young--so damn young--and almost peaceful.  If you ignored the red, angry burns across his chest.

The scars are brutal--far more fitting for a Witcher than a bard.  He winces when he thinks of what Jaskier will say when he sees them.  The vanity and snobbishness of the courtiers Jaskier plays for is foreign to Geralt, but he would  strip the skin from his bones to keep Jaskier from feeling their scorn or pity.  

Geralt has ruined so much of the man laying pale and broken before him.

He leans his head against the mattress, feeling his eyes burn once again at the reminder of what he had done.  Jaskier could have died with Geralt’s sneering and mockery still echoing in his ears.  He would have believed every bit of the poison the Witcher spewed in place of real emotions and to avoid the concern he truly felt.  It proved what Jaskier had been trying to disprove all along:

Geralt was a monster.

The Witcher wakes to hands carding through the tangled strands of his hair.

For a moment, his mind is at peace, enjoying a rare moment of calm with Jaskier--

Geralt’s head snaps up so quickly the bard jerks in surprise, wincing as the gesture irritates the wound on his chest.  Geralt feels his body tremble faintly and his voice is raw with emotion when he speaks. “Jaskier?”

Jaskier gives him an awkward smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.  “Ah, yes.  Sorry for waking you.  It just, it looked like you were uncomfortable.”

The bard’s voice is raspy and rough from the screams Geralt will hear in his nightmares for the rest of his life.  He stands quickly and grabs a cup near the water pitcher to press to Jaskier’s lips.  “Stay still,” he says, “You still need to rest.”

“Must be bad if you stayed,” Jaskier answers with a trace of bitterness.  Blue eyes flick to Geralt and then skitter away to focus on the fingers toying nervously with the sheets.  “You don’t have to, you know.  Stay, that is. I know I shouldn’t have distracted you like that.  You don’t owe me anything--it was my fault.”

Geralt’s throat goes tight and he falls to his knees beside the bed.  He grips Jaskier’s hand like it’s made of glass, pressing his forehead against his palm.  Tears drip unnoticed down his cheeks and his voice trembles, “I thought I’d lost you.”

“Geralt...”

The Witcher shakes his head when Jaskeir starts to speak, determined to release the words that had been swirling in his mind since he’d seen Jaskier charging into battle.  

“I should never have said those things to you.  It’s just--I thought you’d died when that alghoul turned on you and it was easier to be angry than be scared. Then you nearly died right after I said all those horrible things, and I--”

Jaskier’s hand shifts against him, coaxing Geralt’s chin up until he was staring at the bard while tears dripped down his cheeks.

“I would never survive losing you, Jaskier.  Not now, not decades from now when we’re both old and slow.  I will never forgive myself for all the scars and the pain I’ve caused you and I wouldn’t blame you if you chose to leave me for it.” Just the thought made his stomach twist in knots.  “But if you give me a chance, I will spend the rest of my life making up for every horrible thing I’ve said to you.”

Jaskier’s eyes are bright with an emotion that Geralt is too terrified to hope for.  His fingers tighten around Geralt’s jawline until the Witcher raises up on his knees to close the distance between them.

“Ready to start making it up to me?” he purrs and leans forward to swallow Geralt’s sigh of relief with his lips.

Nevertheless, you tried to offer the tall boy a smile, which he just nodded his head, cheeks tilted pink to get his sweet tooth exposed to someone from school. After you sat down, Muku began to explain how he accidentally bumped into you and spilled some of his drink on you. Juza got the picture and said nothing. Though, gradually he started to become more comfortable. Before you knew it, you befriend the young teenage boy with fluffy hair. You told Muku how you two first met, which he only exclaimed how cool his cousin was and how the scene was just like from a shoujo manga. So yeah, your friendship with Juza started that day and slowly but steadily developed into something more. You would see him at school and chat with him, give him snacks to eat together on the rooftop etc.

her history of magic project in sixth year was about how the founders are fake/fables (the real people still existed probs but certainly the names and traits make more sense as fables and anyway surnames didn’t exist like that at the time and she has a lot of points and i bet someone tells her it’s a dumb idea so she devotes herself to it as her history of magic project) so get ready for her to tell u about that if she remotely values ur academic opinions/thoughts

she was a chaser for gryffindor from a young age, and until she was in sixth year, she’d really intended on playing professionally and had been involved in the sport from her youth, playing in younger leagues and being part of professional youth teams during her hogwarts years. it’s something she’s still v passionate about, but what it really comes down to is that when she was having her academic careers meeting in fifth year, she realised: there were other things she equally wanted to do with her life. before that moment, it had never really been framed that way, like there was anything else she cared enough about to do for the rest of her life, that there was anything else she was good enough to do, but after that meeting and during the months following, she really came to understand that while her notable speed and physicality would always be things she connected to, she truly loved history and academia, and the theory of magic (as well as the practical execution of curses / unravelling them), and something about combining those aspects with her determined and dauntless spirit set her on track for cursebreaking (independently —- we aren’t here for destroying magics of antiquity and other cultures for capitalism n banks y’all)

cho is younger child of weisheng chang, who was brother to jia chang, mother to marlene mckinnon —- marlene and cho were cousins, except marls died when cho was a baby, rip (jia was younger and had her children when she was young, whereas weisheng had them later in life, and cho was his younger child). seeing as jia’s estrangement from their family was due to their parents and weisheng had no beef with her, they reconnected properly a few years before the mckinnons died (except now marlene is alive again, adult!cho’s popped out of existence, and viv’s now got a teenage mother who doesn’t know her and also her mother’s dead war hero of a cousin. it’s a Time™ aight)

re: time clash —- oof. ooooof. ok. well, not thrilled that her mother has, for all intents and purposes, disappeared. she realises that the cho currently around is literally her mother, but also she very much isn’t, and it’s a weird situation. trying to be there for her though, and also marlene & other mckinnons who have popped up, though from what she’s heard abt the mckinnon side of marlene’s family, she’s not super inclined to be welcoming (touched on in marls’ bio, but seeing as that’s only linked in discord bc her intro is still drafted for now, tl;dr is that the mckinnon grandparents were racist, mostly in the like... ‘i voted for obama!! how can i be racist, even w all these microaggressions??’ sorta way, though there were a few more Explicit Incidents). still, having her family around is weird, but it’s far, far from the worst of it all.

really interested in the actual logistics of the timeclash and is someone who is thinking abt the logical progressions that can occur from here, but also —- in line w being unforgiving, she’s... in theory, she does agree with the idea that you can’t punish someone for something they haven’t done yet. but she looks at people like theodore nott & peter pettigrew & that just burns away, and all the theory and thoughts go out the fucking window and she wants to step on them and grind them to dust with her heel.

alright! i’ll admit that this post is going to be geared a little more towards eridan (as d.ualscar’s lore is the one i hate the most and mituna’s life as the psiioniic bears almost no bounds to how he is as mituna), but here we are anyway! what i’m basically doing is shredding canon and picking out the parts i like to make a pretty little mosaic of things i consider truthful to my portrayal. tw for murder, execution, sexual assault, mind control, slavery, death in general.

O.RPHANER D.UALSCAR:

OF COURSE, i’m not a d.ualscar blog. this won’t really matter much in the grand scheme of me writing, but it’s important to eridan, so i feel like it’s worth saying, yk? this is what eridan has learned about since he was a grub, looked up to his whole life. this is eridan’s flarp character too yk? like, it matters to him.

dualscar embraced his status as royalty as soon as he understood what, exactly, that meant (even somewhat before that, too, if we’re honest). he was cruel and ruthless growing up, though not much is known about him before he gained a small following aboard his first seafaring vessel (a dingy little ship that he planned to raid before taking the captives as slaves). instead of submitting to their new ~leader~, they offered their treasure and services as a loyal crew. d.ualscar, not being an idiot, negotiated some very strict terms with the ex-captain of said ship and took the thing for himself. thus, his life as a pirate begins. king of the sea, babey.

there are a lot of stories centred around d.ualscar’s life at sea, most being tales of exceptional villainy and gory fights aboard enemy ships. eridan takes all of these stories as ~canon~ for his flarp character -- even the stories in which d.ualscar loses. loss is important to legends: it makes the story more interesting, and, besides, d.ualscar would always respond to loss twice as brutally, twice as underhandedly as before. 

he’s just a nasty bastard for a living. wields his iconic weapon and kills and steals without much discrimination. he gets his name during this stretch of his legend -- orphaner, thanks to all the lusii he kills. he’s after treasure, slaves, etc -- kid trolls are good as any, and usually more obedient. his crimes against lowbloods are told more often, but rest assured he was awful to everyone! 

m.indfang plays an active part in a lot of d.ualscar’s legends. they were the perfect example of a k.ismesis, after all -- constant rivals, competing for god knows what (even d.ualscar loses sight of what they were fighting about eventually -- his romantic hatred for m.indfang is, quite literally, stuff of legend) all across the sea, taking and relenting with each other for sweeps. i won’t mess with m.indfang’s lore -- consider all the stuff wrt mind control and how she uses her slaves truthful unless it isn’t true in your m.indfang canon. it’s not my place to dictate how far she will or won’t go!! 

after all that bs, d.ualscar loses the romantic hatred he’d harboured for m.indfang and just purely resents her. he attempts to turn her in to the h.ighblood because she’s become an issue rather than a rival -- she’s taking up space that d.ualscar believes to be rightfully his. he also isn’t an idiot -- an attack from him would be expected, right? m.indfang wouldnt expect him to get help -- he’s too proud for that, or so she thinks. here’s where i start to make shit up, folks.

the grand h.ighblood doesn’t want anything to do with d.ualscar, OBVIOUSLY. d.ualscar’s been doing whatever tf he wants and being a c.ondense loyalist this entire time, and he, in turn, is an issue for the purplebloods. he’s betrayed by the grand h.ighblood -- his ship is set ablaze and he dies aboard it. the charred remnants of his ship wrecks on land some time after the summoner leads his revolt. in between m.indfang being killed by the s.ummoner, she finds ahab’s crosshairs and steals it. after her death, ahab’s crosshairs is lost until eridan recovers it.

of course there’s more, and i’ll probably talk about that when it occurs to me, but this is the gist of it! 

THE P.SIIONIIC:

ugh psii how i love you. i like the psii’s backstory as much as i think it sucks for him like... i think it’s coherent and satisfying even though i want him to be alright yk? anyways

the p.siioniic is a mutant used as a slave. he hates it. he’s got a short fuse and is treated terribly as a consequence, but he won’t let himself be beat. the horrors that the p.siioniic went through are more horror stories than legend -- so unspeakable that a lot of people dismiss them as ways to scare other mutants into compliance. 

of course, he meets the signless, who motivates him to break his chains and leave to follow his cause. he quickly becomes devoted to the signless -- he feels indebted to him in a way, and is determined to use his unrivalled power to aid him in any way.

when the signless is captured and killed, as such is the p.siioniic. the condense uses him to power her ship thanks to his power (hence the helmsman), forcing him back into slavery and nearly killing him as he’s used as a living battery.

the condense takes a shining to the p.siioniic, prolonging his life with her powers. this takes a massive strain on him -- he simply isn’t meant to live as long as she makes him, his cause is failed, his friends are scattered and dead AND he can feel himself dying until the condense brings him back from the brink... our man suffers 

eventually, he overexerts himself and dies trapped in the helm, the victim of his unnatural lifespan and his extremely strong powers.

obviously, this is an alternate universe version of mituna, so i’m far more comfortable with writing the p.siioniic than i am d.ualscar, yk? i’m cool to explore the psii in threads bc well i love him
