basketball anon emerging from hideyhole. I definitely forgot about Stockton. He should be in there above Wilkins. Malone is not on the list purely because of offcourt reasons. Baylor has a case, but I don’t care how good those Bill Russell Celtics teams were you do not go to 7 finals and lose all of them. Ewing was a god but as a born raised and current Pacers fan (remind me to show you my signed Roy Hibbert jersey) I have to underrate all Knicks players. It’s in my contract. Bonus, I think Chris Paul has to be in there. He’s probably the third best pure point guard of all time after Stockton and Magic. Not that high on my actual PG list but close.
Basketball (no longer)anon! 🐧❤🐧
I totally agree about Malone. I felt icky when I re-read that I had posted his name. Him and Stockton are always just permanently linked in my mind, but in all honesty that's not really giving "Human Assist Machine: John Stockton" the credit he's due. I think he would still have beem an all-time great without Malone, while I'm not sure the same could be said the other way around. Can't argue with your Knicks stance; in the same way, as a lifelong Lakers fan, I simply must despise all Celtics players/teams ✊🏼🐧 (though I will grudgingly give Russell and Bird their due respect). Also couldn't agree more about Chris Paul. I would definitely put him up in that same tier of "true" PGs along with Magic*, Stockton, Oscar Robertson, and maaaaaybe Steve Nash?
*(I am vibrating at a frequency detectable only to penguins at the mention of Magic. He's my all-time favorite player, but I don't want to geek out too hard 😬)
