I've been an mlp fan since g3 and fim will always be a huge comfort to me, it introduced me to fandoms and it's where I learned to have fun and let loose with redesigns and ocs, and I've met so many talented people!! It has given me so much inspiration and motivation for art, and I think my art has evolved in a way that would make little 9 year old me proud ☺️💜💜

It's funny to me that I see 3 major parallels for Felix, but people only really talk about Frankenstein. 2 other certified abominations for comparison:

HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey? Felix is the one who directly invokes Stanley Kubrick in Representation. A sentient computer onboard a spaceship with a paradox built into his programming: he's supposed to keep the human crew safe and give them accurate information, but is also forbidden from revealing their mission's true purpose, driving him insane. Anyway. Felix does a lot to Adrien but never outright lies. Says he wants to protect him but withholds vital information from him. Turns murderous over it. HALcore. To me.

And ML takes a lot of inspiration from Spider-Man comics. Felix is no exception- he's Kaine Parker. An imperfect copy, abused and objectified by his creator, incapable of living as a 'normal' human and resents his more human twin for being able to do so? But they are irrevocably tied together, bound by platonic love and they will always find their way back to each other because they are their brother's keeper? Seen that one before!

That’s true, Representation is very Kubrick-like!!! I’m sure there’s something really cool to do with HAL and lies and the inherent horror of being trapped in a universe that wasn’t built for you.

I’m much less familiar with the Spider-Man comics, but if you like these themes, may I subtly-not-subtly recommend you read East of Eden, the 1952 hit by John Steinbeck —
