When we're talking about Griffins color change...

Can we please talk about the fact that Darcys color of her casual outfit is light purple too? A outfit she wears in the first season a lot comparing to the other seasons where she only wears the dark purple one (I know she starts to wear it ik seaosn 3 again but after that we never saw it again)? Just like Griffin, she changes from light colors to dark and like Griffin she also stopped wearing her cute glasses (WHY both of them looked so good with their glasses!). It's like both want to stop being associated with that previous version of themselves while they still hold on to that color scheme bc not everything was just bad about it.

Griffin hated what she did but that doesn't changed anything about the feelings she had/has for Valtor and the moments they shared with eachother just for them. And Darcy maybe hated Griffin and everything that had to do with her when she kicked her and sisters out but she cloud tower was for several years still something like a home and maybe one of the safest places she was during her teenager years. Despite the ending I think she has some really good times there. And both hold on to that memories through the colors. Griffin a bit diffrently but still in the same way.

I hear what you're saying and it makes a lot of sense but Darcy's different outfits coexist in the first season. And the lighter civilian outfit vs darker battle outfit is true for Icy too while Stormy's are pretty much the same color which I think is exactly the significance here? Because the Trix were supposed to appear as random if even excessively mean-spirited school bullies in the first season who are then revealed to actually be villainous enough to want to conquer the entire universe and almost succeed. So Darcy and Icy have a lighter color scheme in their civilian outfits because they're putting up a front while Stormy doesn't even bother to do that as she's always a chaotic baby.

Also, their battle outfits are just more practical for... battle in season 2 as that's all they do. They don't have any chill time and they're always on missions when they leave Shadowhaunt. Only time they wear something else is when they're trying to be undercover at Red Fountain in 2x08. Compare that to season 3 where Valtor doesn't always need them and they are more comfortable in their hideouts so they just hang out in their civilian outfits again. (Lmao, "Valtor is a better boss than Darkar" is not the take I expected to emerge from this 😂 (considering all his manipulation of them while Darkar wasn't even trying in that department.))

I'm just analyzing canon here. However, I do think that you're right about Darcy (and the rest of the Trix) holding on to the good times they had in CT and feeling slighted by Griffin expelling them. They are always looking to muscle back in on CT and take control of it away from Griffin. First in season 2 through their Gloomix power-up and then instantly looking to make use of Valtor's unchecked power by having him secure it for all of them. While a big part of this is definitely their egos being hurt by being kicked out by Griffin, I think there's also a part of them that really perceived CT as their safe haven, their fortress. We don't know anything concrete about the treatment witches receive in canon (besides the ton of unfortunate implications) or about the Trix' lives prior to s1 but I think that they truly felt that with all their power and their ancestry, CT should sort of be like their birth right, that they have a claim on it. Which adds very interesting nuances to them as they seem to have gotten attached to it as not just a comfortable and convenient base of operations but as a stable home, implying they've never had that before. There's certainly a lot going on here!

P.S. The glasses were cool and I wish we'd seen more of them by virtue of more flashbacks with Griffin/more downtime for Darcy as I can't see Griffin making them work in her show outfit (they'd have to be redesigned too) and I think they could be a bit of a safety hazard for Darcy in battle.

i need loid and yor to fall in love already and kiss bc this slow burn is killing me (but i love it tho). we're already at 60+ chapters and we've only had crumbs, except maybe for that almost (fake) kiss. but i guess it's already been established that they've got a loooong way to go. especially since loid keeps holding himself back bc, as frankie said, with their job, they're not supposed to form (genuine) relationships. however, i hope there'll be some shift in loid soon, bc im dying for some romantic development

sigh aren’t we all waiting for them to kiss and fall in love anonie? you know, despite there only being 60+ chapters so far i am absolutely loving the slow burn between loid and yor. there are moments here and there but they really are meaningful and hold weight to them.

since we’re here can we just talk about a few loid moments ? because i think we can all agree that yor is somewhat there but let’s go on about loid being all “it’s for the mission” yeah sir my ass that line between fake and true is blurring.

the communication between the two is everything. the way loids was having some doubt in his ability to be a parent but yor reminds him that anya gave him a perfect 100 points— and then yor starts panicking saying it’s not her place to tell him what to do but loid interrupts yor and tells her this is exactly her place. he relies on her to be everything that he is not. the communication between them is so freaking good. tears.

the whole playing the perfect mother/wife role. loid doesn’t want yor to have to live up to that role as the way society expects someone like to her to be, how those ideas constrict you and you lose yourself — he just wants yor to be exactly who she is, who she’s always been. (he understands this well)

and after that frankie’s comment ‘don’t tell me you feel guilty for doubting her?’ comes to his mind, perhaps he did feel guilty for doubting her and her intentions.

loid’s always reassuring yor that she’s doing enough, there’s nothing more than he can ask of her and it’s all true. hell even fiona could see that he was being genuine. WISE? their greatest agent? twilight? telling truths and smiling genuinely while doing so? who would’ve thought.

and then we have the whole meal, chapter 35. god i love this chapter, there was a vulnerability here that loid displayed to yor when he was talking about his past, his mother specifically. how he spoke so fondly of his mum and how he always felt a sense of security being held by her. now he sees it in the same way yor cares for anya, it reminds him how he felt and knows anya feels the same way but with yor.

loid twilight whoever he is never speaks about his past, so for him to share this with yor— tears.

small moments too. they’ve been together for a while now that both he and anya do feel a little lonesome without her. they are family your honour. do not separate.

loid noticing when somethings wrong with yor: when yor came home with bandages on her hands, going straight to bed and not eating with them

when her injuries were visible from missions of course. he sure is v attentive when it comes to his girls.

i’m just gushing at this point and could probably go on forever but these were some of the moments that came to mind when writing.

but the development between the two is slow, steady, it’s gentle, it’s subtle. it’s just so them. i have to say it: their love languages are— words of affirmation, quality time and acts of service. and i’m certain in the future we’ll see the two of them finally come to terms with how they feel. as of now it’s obvious that they are care for one another, i understand loid (twilight) forming genuine relationships while being a spy is dangerous. you’ll end up either hurting yourself or those around you.

but little does he know that this “fake family” bond is already looking real. loid needs them as much as they need him.

(plus you know what slow burn means? angst, angst is gonna be there before any of these grown dorks get it together, we love pain. once thorn princess gets assigned to twilight it’s over for us)

Just for fun, are there any circumstances under which you might have actually shipped S-lki? I'm not a fan of it either but sometimes when I have a NOtp I try to make it over in my mind until its palatable lol

Unpopular opinion, but actually yes, because I enjoyed Sylvie and I honestly loved her dynamic with Loki in the moments where he wasn't acting weird and lovestruck and, her, uncomfortable lmao. I liked when they were arguing, exchanging quips, when Sylvie would call Loki out on something and he wouldn't be able to argue with it bc he knows she's right (and I wish there could've been more of it from Loki's side too towards her, fair dos and all that).

The problem for me is mostly two-fold:

- Yes, as far as we can tell they are the same being, share the same family members and are for all intents and purposes more or less twins (not quite, but that's about as close as one can get to a real life comparison and it's mostly true). Again, this alone didn't necessarily have to be a dealbreaker for me, but I don't like that it's never really addressed? Yes, Mobius acknowledges it as strange and maybe even toxic in Loki's last interrogation, but I feel like we're being led to believe this isn't a reliable take to have on the relationship because Mobius is feeling angry and betrayed and speaking from a place of hurt. Like yall, even Jamie and Cersei are known to have debated the strangeness of their dynamic back and forth. There were real, tangible consequences. Cause like, if you're going to do a plot that is more or less incestuous? Don't be a fucking coward about it. Acknowledge it for what it is instead of pretending that everyone's discomfort with the situation is just contingent on shallow factors (you know this was their attempt to shut up anyone in the audience that had issues lol). OR make her not a Loki variant maybe. She could have easily been Amora for instance and we could've avoided this whole discussion. I'm not even sure why making her 'another Loki' was so necessary tbh, considering there are apparently no female Lokis anyway except for her. Even though Loki is supposed to be genderfluid and chaotic regardless so why on earth WOULDN'T there be more if not QUITE A FEW fem Lokis running around- is anyone else's brain melting yet?

- The other issue for me being the fact that Loki falls so hard, so fast, trusts her so hard, so fast, and reprioritizes everything so that she is first. His ultimate motive and concern is her. Now, short of him being under an enchantment, I find this behavior both an annoying and nonsensical choice for what we know of Loki's character thus far, and establishing the potential of a romance between Sylvie and Loki doesn't necessarily require dumbing Loki down and changing his personality completely or even making Sylvie his first priority after they've known each other a collective 12 hours. Compared to Lokius, we see the slow progression of Loki lowering his walls for Mobius and gradually, piece by piece, falling into a kind of trust with him. We see Loki's eyes start to light up more and more every time Mobius talks or does something and it just seems a lot more organic of a progression to the character we've been watching for the past 10 years. And I mean...even after Lokius' development heavy scenes in ep 1 and 2, Loki ultimately still chooses to go through the portal door and against what he promised Mobius he didn't do. Whether this was justified of him or not is another debate, but I can say that it feels much more naturally 'Loki' to make many missteps in a close relationship first and not necessarily jump right to prioritizing that person above all things after a few cute dates. Because ultimately Loki has trust issues and giving all of himself like that to anyone so quickly, after knowing them such a short time doesn't feel honest. I can't imagine Loki trusting anyone that hard without first having a long period of development in which he fears it and subconsciously tries to sabotage things. GIVE ME CONFLICT.

- I lied, it's three-fold and this one is a lot simpler, because we literally got two episodes of a carefully constructed, slowburn, gentle dismantling of Loki's defensive walls with Lokius, such that really felt like a natural beginning to a close dynamic for a character that has never and probably will never trust easily, and then by the end of ep 3 we're told 'nevermind forget about that, Loki's in love with this person now ok?' and it's just...weird? Why not just focus the entire show on that so we're not having to deal with the whiplash that results from 6 episodes essentially being two different shows entirely? Why not give most of the time to the relationship you've deemed should be most important to Loki? It might have been better! It's like when the person with the stronger presentation goes first and leaves everyone after them to pale in comparison lol. It's strange to, in the same 6-ep length show, give Loki both well-written and forced relationships and expect the audience to find them both equally good. It's also not fair to whatever potential Loki and Sylvie might have ever had tbh.

-But honestly...the relationship was always going to be stronger/better as platonic, considering especially Marvel's history of mashing together any fem-presenting person with any masculine-presenting person that shares screentime with them. There is nothing about them, imo, that begs anything other than frenemies/chaotic twins/gay bestfriends.

That said though, yes, it could have been better and it maybe could have even been something I enjoyed if some simple alternatives had been taken instead.

But this is just my take, as always your mileage may vary

So on to my very long response!

I've watched SO much about the ride just so I'm prepared to catch any reference. They just released Behind the Attraction on Disney+ and ep 1 is about the Jungle Cruise ride (Dwayne Johnson is in it too!). He talks about how much he loved the ride as a kid and used to imagine himself as a skipper which is SO cute and I'm so happy his dreams came true (and I find it very relatable as someone who dreams about being a raptor handler at Universal).

I'm genuinely a lil mad that the spelling changed. Because if you google it really everyone thought it was McGregor, they must've at some point released something on the movie for the press with that spelling and then changed their mind. Now everyone has it wrong because I suspect these featurettes are also gonna be the DVD/Bluray extras so I'm confident this is the final spelling. However I will continue to live in denial until I see the other spelling ON SCREEN.

Frank is the cynic who thinks everyone just wants to cheat you anyway and miracles don't exist who eventually cracks and warms up to people and shows that there is a soft, warm person in there after all. Lily is wildly optimistic and aggressively individualistic, not trying to fit in or caring about what anyone thinks and will probably have a moment of losing that optimism and doubting herself after all. And McGregor is the person who appears to think he's better than everyone, who's pampered and refuses to sacrifice any of the luxuries he's used to until he reveals he's gay and you realise most of it was just a show to cover up how hurt he really is. Three PEAK character tropes we're working with here and COMBINED with a reluctant-allies to lovers and a siblings trope.

Based on the reports (that I cannot stress enough I have no idea how accurate they are) he doesn't say "gay" but it's unambiguous what he's talking about. Let's hope that's true! I'm imaginging some sort of "relationships with men" or "no interest in women but rather men" or sth like that. I hadn't really considered that it might be ambiguous to someone who doesn't know he's supposed to be gay so that's a new fear unlocked lmao

I'm going to be so sad if we don't get sequels cause so many franchises with several movies don't have a core group of actors that are just friends and get along as well naturally as these three. Or if we get more movies and Jack isn't in them or sth like that. Like any future where these three aren't the leading trio in more movies is a nightmare.

McGregor laughing at Frank's puns alone could sustain me another year if I had to wait that long for the movie. Luckily I don't have to. It is so wholesome tho, like the fact that they're gonna get along and also get closer and McGregor won't end up sidelined for being a bitch until the last minute or sth is so wonderful.

And yes! It's tartan! We've seen p little of the beginning of the movie in London and since that's gonna be focused on just Lily and McGregor I'm so excited bc we got so little content so there's gonna be SO much in the movie to look forward to that I can barely even piece together!!! (All we know is lily will steal the arrowhead before falling out of the window which mcgregor sees and he immediately follows her so I assume he knew to come there and that there's a scene where she asks him in one of their bedrooms about wanting to go on an adventure. So I'm assuming the bedroom scene comes first and she'll tell him about the arrowhead, he'll refuse to help her but decide to come last minute because he's worried about her (and the worry is immediately proven right as she falls out of a window lol). But we know so little that it's a really loose theory.

And yes!! Lily's costumes are so good. Frank calls her Pants so they will absolutely address that she's dressed very unusual for a woman of her status in 1916/17 and I hope they explore that a little and address where she even gets her clothes and everything. I mean Emily Blunt looks good in everything but the costume department really made something gorgeous with this. She is, for the time the movie is set in, very gender nonconforming which I love in a female lead. And Emily described Lily's fighting style as very Indiana Jones and brutal without much tactic or thinking and just brute force and I really would die for this characterisation. Like when I compare this to similar female leads like in The Mummy for example they're usually highly feminine, aggressive only in their attittude and witty banter but always emphasised to be beautiful and wearing dresses and lots of (usually historically inaccurate) makeup and they get like one scene where they smack the bad guy with sth heavy or sth so noone can say they're a damsel in distress even though they are. But Lily feels very much like a coherent person to me. She's very unusual for a woman at her time, her desire for adventure is in line with how she fights and dresses but she doesn't seem to have the "uwu I'm not like other girls" thing going on, she's just exactly who she is and wants to be.
