“Y/N, sweetie! Don’t go too near the lake!” Your foster mother said as she walked side by side with your foster father. Your 5 year old self was running around the park, trying to diligently catch the beautiful sky blue coloured butterfly. You ignored their calls of asking you to be careful because of course, kids will never listen. You got further and further away from your elders as you were so close to catching the butterfly when all of a sudden, your feet missed a step on the wooden bridge.
Within a split second, you plunged into the lake before your elders could chase after you. Water flushed down your nose and mouth, accidentally swallowing it in huge gulps while you were desperately crying for help. Since you were just a 5 year old kid, you didn’t know how to swim nor were you taught not to open your mouth and breathe underwater.
You were growing unconscious due to the large amount of water that had already started to fill your lungs. You were ready to just accept your fate that you were going to die right then and there. Except, luck has a different plan for you. Just when you were on the brink of completely drowning, a sudden new figure dives into the lake and swoops you into their arms before bringing you back up easily. Once you were on land, they began to do CPR on you until you finally managed to cough out a huge amount of water that had gotten into your lungs.
After you have recovered slightly, the voice of the person who had just saved your life, rings in your head like a lingering memory.
“Are you okay?”
It was a man. You glanced up but all you can see is a shadowy figure looming over you. Nothing about him or his appearance is clear and so it was pretty useless to even guess who or what he looked like.
Right after you’ve gotten a glimpse of his presence there with you, everything goes white. Even though this is just a dream, everything about this felt so entirely real. Almost as if this same exact scene happened before in your life.
And it did.
You just don’t remember it. Not yet.
And then you awoke.
Tumblr media
You’ve been getting that same recurring dream ever since you turned 16. They’re all the same dream where it stops abruptly after your savior asks if you are okay. As much as you want to figure out the details of the dream, you couldn’t because you don’t have much to work with aside from it being what looks to be an old memory of what happened to you years ago. Nevertheless, you lived your days like every other normal teenager until you were now in your last year of university.
That’s where you met two of your current best friends and their names were Hwang Hyunjin and Han Jisung.
You were like three peas in a pod ever since college days. Everywhere one goes, the other two follow. Except the toilet of course. There isn’t anyone on this earth (aside from your foster parents) that you could trust more than you trust them. Only reason being you were an only child. Not to mention, adopted. So everyone in school used to make fun of you a lot. They called you all kinds of nicknames and said that your real parents never loved you enough to take care of you.
It hurts a lot, having to hear those words being thrown at you when you were barely a kid. However, you loved your foster parents so much, you tried so hard to ignore the bullies and carried on with your life just to make your elders happy. You couldn’t bear to see them sad so you made a promise to yourself that no matter what happens, they will always come first and you will do whatever it takes to give them a happy and successful life when you’re older.
It wasn’t easy of course but you made it through. Not only that, who knew college would let you cross paths with two of the most genuine individuals who actually cared for you and not expect anything in return. For that, you’re thankful you met Hyunjin and Jisung.
Everyday is such a blessing with them around and today was no different.
You were heading to the parking lot after your class ended when you saw a group of four guys gathered at the near entrance of the campus building. Both Hyunjin and Jisung still have yet to finish their lectures so you told them you’d wait for them by the car. You were about to walk down the stairs when one of the guys blocked your path intentionally.
“Hey, um… Y/N right?” He asked, to which you frowned. You don’t seem to recognize him so how did he know your name?
“Yeah? Sorry, do I know you?” Your voice was timid and almost inaudible.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve introduced myself. My name’s Changbin. This is Wooyoung, Yeonjun and Haknyeon. I’ve uh… been wanting to talk to you actually but I didn’t know how. So I kinda asked your friend about you…” He said while scratching the back of his neck nervously. Upon this revelation, you frowned as you tilted your head slightly in confusion.
“My friend?” You asked.
“Han Jisung?”
“Ah… Right, Mr Dumber…” You said casually, earning a few chuckles from them.
“So… I was wondering, if you’d wanna hangout with me tonight? I know this really awesome billiard place downtown.”
“Um… Sure. Yeah, I think that sounds good.” You said as he asked to exchange numbers with you and so you did. Once you were done, you bid them goodbye and soon walked over to your car. It didn’t feel weird or creepy talking to him but it did catch you off guard slightly considering you’ve never gotten someone to actually come up to you bravely like that and asked for your number. So for that, you kinda respected Changbin for that.
A few minutes later, your friends finally came and Jisung seemed happy as he was seen bouncing in his steps over to where you were standing.
“You look overly happy and satisfied. What’s up?” You asked, only for him to smirk.
“A little birdie told me that somebody’s got a date tonight…” Jisung teased you in front of Hyunjin who looks like he had absolutely no idea what’s going on.
“It’s not a date.”
“Really? What time is he picking you up?” He smirked at you, ignoring Hyunjin’s wide eyes staring back and forth between you and Jisung.
“We haven’t set a time yet, Ji. Now shut up and get in.” You said in annoyance as you unlocked your car doors and entered the driver seat easily while the other two followed suit.
“I’m sorry but what is going on? Can some kind soul please fill me in on what’s going on?” Hyunjin asked as he turned his body 90° to face you and turned his head back to glare at his same aged friend. Finally, Jisung explained the situation to Hyunjin and you were thankful that Hyunjin was just letting it slide without actually teasing the shit out of you.
A few hours went by, and you were finally done getting ready to meet up with Changbin. You opted for a simple crop top, skinny ripped jeans and a thick oversized jacket in case you got cold during the night. Changbin soon picked you up at your apartment with his black mustang, bringing you to the billiard place downtown. You were quite surprised with how easy your conversation turned out with him in the car. He was quite bubbly himself so it wasn’t difficult for him to start the conversation every time. And so far, you feel pretty comfortable with him.
Once you arrived at the location, the place was dimly lit to give off a relaxing vibe to the venue. There were many pool tables occupied so there were a few empty ones near the back. Changbin and you went to book a table for yourselves, only to get the last table at the very last corner of the room.
The other tables near you were empty so essentially, you had the space to yourselves. Changbin took the cue sticks for you and him while you carried the tray of billiard balls.
“Just so you know, I have no idea how to play this.” You said as a disclaimer, only for him to chuckle.
“It’s fine. I can teach you.” He said casually, making you smile.
After you had both settled down your things on the table, he began to prepare the balls into the triangle and soon called a start. He was the first to break it up. Right after that, he walks over to you and asks which colour you wanted to aim for, solids or stripes. You glanced around the table top to see which one was the easiest target and soon chose the stripes. He led you over to where the ball you were aiming for and began to guide you on where to stand, how to hold the cue, et cetera et cetera.
Apparently, you were holding it wrong and had completely no idea what to do so Changbin came over to stand behind you while he reached over to position your hand properly. His left hand was guiding your hand while the other hovered over your waist, knowing not to touch you without your permission.
So when you could feel his awkward hand beside your waist, you glanced down at it and laughed slightly before you turned to him and said, “Isn’t your hand tired from being in the air for that long?”
Changbin glanced over to your waist, only to laugh a little as he got shy.
“Sorry, I just… I don’t know where to put my hand.”
“Just hold my waist if you want. It’s fine.” You smiled at him, earning a little giggle from him.
“O-Okay.” He replied shyly before gently putting his hand on your waist. He resumed teaching you and once you got the shot, both of you cheered excitedly. The game continued with laughter and occasional lessons along the way but so far, you were enjoying it. After you were done playing, he offered to pay for the game so you told him you’d pay for the food afterwards and he said okay.
You were walking back to his car when you didn’t realise there was someone walking ahead of you. It wasn’t until the sudden crash against your shoulder made you turn around. A young guy locks eyes with you from under the brim of his baseball cap, black mask covering his nose and mouth.
“Sorry.” He said softly to which you simply smiled and shook your head.
“It’s okay.” You said as he then walked away. For some reason, your heart was starting to palpitate in your chest.
Soon after, Changbin drove you to a pretty cafe a few blocks down from where you were, only to gush over the cute decorations outside the cafe. It was decorated with pretty fairy lights and small strings of roses attached to it. So minimal yet so pretty at the same time. Both of you went inside to get your food first before sitting outside.
The night was young, people were seen walking about the streets in all ages. You were chatting about your hobbies and what you do when you’re bored. You realize that he is a gym-addict and that he does dance occasionally and rap most days when he feels like recording a song. He is multi-talented and yet, his hard work is not published anywhere. Nevertheless, you found him charming and an absolute sweetheart.
You just… don’t have any special feelings towards him. So when you were ready to call it a night, he sent you home all the way to your doorstep.
“If it’s not too much to ask, is it okay if we do this again? It doesn’t have to be a date if you don’t want it to. I just… kinda like spending time with you.”
“Of course. I’d love to. Anyways, I should go in. It’s getting pretty late… Drive safely. Goodnight Changbin.” You smiled, before entering your apartment once he said goodnight.
Looks like you’ve gained a new friend.
Tumblr media
It was a bright Wednesday afternoon. You were seated at one of the wooden tables at the rooftop garden of the engineering building, waiting for the boys to finish their lecture. You had your headphones on so the world around you was just a blur to you. Mind focused on your assignment, you didn’t even realise the two individuals that had just entered the rooftop until one of them slams both hands on the table top to scare you. As expected, you didn’t flinch.
“Boohoo… You’re no fun.” Jisung pouts as he takes a seat opposite from you while Hyunjin slides into the bench beside you.
“What are you doing?” The long haired blondie asks.
“A research on Thomas Edison. I mean, come on. That man might have invented the light bulb, telephone and motion picture camera, sure. But did he figure out how many times the earth orbits around the sun? I’m pretty sure that’s more fascinating than inventing a device that most people would have come up with eventually.” You didn’t realise you were ranting until you finished talking, earning a soft scoff from Hyunjin.
“Relax, Miss Know-It-All… What’s with the ‘tude? It was just a simple question. Geez…” Hyunjin said as he flips his hair sassily before taking out his phone to text someone.
“Sorry… I’m just a little stressed from this stupid thing, I kinda need a break from it.” You sighed heavily with your head against the table. Jisung cooed softly as he suddenly clapped his hand together and suggested hanging out at the empty music room that nobody seems to use anymore.
“I don’t know, Ji… You tend to overlook some important details sometimes…” You said while packing your stuff, only for the male to huff at you.
“Trust me. I’ve done my research this time. It’s safe. Besides, if anything happens, you have two hot guys to protect you.” Jisung smirks at you cheekily, earning a roll of your eyes.
“More like two cowards.” You said quietly but still loud enough for them to hear, only for you to giggle right after. All three of you finally made it back to the ground floor and were soon walking towards the music production building on the other side of campus. Jisung was standing in the middle of you and Hyunjin. As usual, he was being chatty and bright like how he always was. You were just listening to the chatterbox called Han Jisung when you naturally looked forward to see where you were walking.
Almost instantly, you caught sight of two males walking in your direction, parallel to you.
One had striking neon blue hair while the other had bright purple hair. The purple haired one would be right next to you once you crossed paths with them too. You kept your eyes on them as they got closer and closer until they were about 3 feet away. As if on cue, the purple haired individual just happened to turn his head towards you, causing you to lock eyes with him.
Suddenly, a weird feeling washes over you while you felt as though your heartstrings were being tugged. It was as if there was an invisible thread being pulled.
The minute he had walked completely past you, a small sense of longing lingers in your veins. You frowned as you glanced over your shoulder to find that the two males were casually talking to one another like nothing happened.
You were confused. Yet, there was nothing to say or do so you turned back in front with the thought plastered onto the back of your mind. A few seconds later, the feeling of longing and heartstrings being tugged, suddenly evaporates. Almost as if it never existed.
What’s going on?
Who were those guys?
Why did you feel like you knew the purple haired one?
Tumblr media
Days passed since you first saw the colourful haired duo on campus. And it was pretty noticeable that you’ve been seeing them more often than not now. Even if they were on the other side of campus, you’d still spot them thanks to their brightly coloured hairs. You aren’t even sure if that’s a pro or a con at this point. What’s pretty sure though is that whenever the purple haired one is anywhere close to your range, you would casually lock eyes with him and that feeling you encountered the first time you saw them would come back again.
You still have no idea why but you weren’t one to dwell on it for too long. So after he leaves your radius, you’d either forget about it or you would just pretend like maybe it was pure coincidence and that you didn’t in fact know this guy because if you did, you would’ve recognized him… Right?
And yet for some reason, the one with purple hair seemed to linger in your thoughts more often than you wanted him to.
It has been 8 weeks now and today is a bright Tuesday afternoon. You just remembered you have a Netball tournament this evening in the indoor sports hall. They promised to come down and support you, despite knowing they’ve never missed a single game of your to begin with. All three of you were currently seated in one of the wooden tables right outside the main campus building, just hanging out there while waiting for your break time to pass before you had to go for your respective lectures.
“Omg, you know what? We should really check out that new club downtown this weekend! I heard they sell some amazing booze there.” Hyunjin suggested with a cheeky smirk on his face, one that leaves you rolling your eyes at him and Jisung to fake a gag.
“Sure, let’s see who drops dead drunk in less than 5 drinks first.” Jisung said, giving you a silent high five while Hyunjin straightened his back to retaliate.
“In my defence, I was already pre-drunk with beer the other night. That doesn’t count.”
“Yeah… Sure. You can’t even walk straight after a bottle of soju.”
“Shut up Han.” Hyunjin scoffed as he slapped a packet of wet tissue to Jisung’s face, causing the latter to dramatically stumble backwards. You were quietly watching the two children banter back and forth while your curious eyes began to wander around the campus ground. It wasn’t until two very bright, very prominent blobs of hairs were seen crossing the parking lot from the music production building to the main building, caught your eye.
You had to mentally rip your gaze off them by turning to Hyunjin who was sitting next to you to avoid looking like a creep. About 3 seconds later give or take, you casually turned to pretend like you’re looking around again and that’s when you almost panicked.
When did they get so close?
The purple haired one locked eyes with you as they were just 6 or 7 metres away from your table. Before it got any more awkward, you quickly turned away in hopes that he didn’t think you’re a creepy stalker of some sort because that is the last thing you’d wanna be labelled as. With that being said, the three of you left the table about 10 minutes later to head to your respective classes. You were just listening to Jisung rant about his crush’s kissable lips when you noticed your bracelet was missing.
That was your birthday present from your foster mother a few years ago and you’ve been wearing it ever since. So to know that you’ve lost it, really wouldn’t sit right with you.
“Shit! My bracelet! Where is it? Oh shit, she’s gonna kill me!” You panicked as the two boys couldn’t help but mimic you.
“How could you not feel it dropping from your wrist?” Hyunjin asked while staring at the ground and taking a few steps back to try and retrace your steps.
“Because I was too busy listening to you two idiots trying to differentiate between lipstick and lip gloss, for god’s sake.” You said only to glance at the time and realize that you were almost late for your lecture. They told you to go to class while they try to find the bracelet for you. With a heavy heart, you ran off to your next lecture, leaving it all in the hands of dumb and dumber whom you call best friends.
Hours later, you were in the hall where your tournament would be taking place. Hyunjin and Jisung already tried to find your bracelet but to no avail. You were devastated but what’s done is done. Maybe someone took it. Maybe someone used it. Maybe someone even threw it away. Only God knows. However, that’s not your main concern right now. The golden trophy is waiting for you tonight and you’re determined to bring that trophy home for the team and that’s exactly what you’re gonna do.
You were just stretching by the bench, facing the crowded bleachers where students from Hankuk U came to support you girls. Of course, Hyunjin and Jisung were amongst the crowd. In fact, you saw them earlier and even gave them a wave to acknowledge their presence.
As much as you’re upset about the bracelet, you promised yourself you shouldn’t let it affect your performance today during the game. It was hard, but you can do it.
The game was about to start in just 5 minutes. Your coach had already briefed your team about the rules and regulations, standard procedure, techniques to use, etc. you were just cracking your knuckles when your eyes naturally found its way to a few rows above Hyunjin and Jisung, only to find the coloured hair duo just calmly seated there. What made you not notice them at first was the fact that the purple haired one was wearing a baseball cap while the blue haired one was wearing his cap backwards.
This essentially hides their coloured hair so you didn’t quite spot them first straight away. Nevertheless, you locked eyes with the purple haired one and suddenly, the feeling of your heartstrings being tugged was present. You had to look away to make the feeling stop but it left a lingering tug in your chest. You were distracted for a second but was quickly brought back to attention the minute the whistle was blown.
Immediately, you went into alert mode as your game attitude comes on. The game was intense as you tried your very best to guide your team. You did a pretty good job until the end, claiming the victory title for Hankuk University. After everything was done, you were just gulping down your bottle of water when Hyunjin and Jisung suddenly ran to you and lifted you up on Hyunjin’s shoulders. A scream left your lips as you gripped his hair for balance.
You yelled at him to put you down and once he did, you slapped his chest a few times for nearly giving you a heart attack. They both broke into hysterical laughter as you shoved them away and told them to just go home and not wait for you.
The boys apologized after they'd stopped laughing and soon told you to have a safe journey home before bidding you goodnight. You didn’t leave the hall without taking a quick shower like you always do after every practice. About half an hour later, you’ve already changed into your earlier outfit you wore to classes which were ripped skinny jeans, a fitted tank top, an oversized jacket and a pair of jordans.
Once everyone was done, you all started walking to the entrance to head home. You were just walking ahead slightly from everyone else when you saw a familiar figure leaning against one of the pillars outside. The closer you get, the clearer it is for you to recognize them. A few more steps and you were finally just 6 metres away from him when he pushed himself off the pillar and turned to face you.
“Hey? Um… A-Are you looking for someone?” You asked, hoping he was there for you and not anyone else.
“Actually, I was looking for you.” The purple haired male said with the most gentle smile on his face. His lips curled upwards, reminding you of a bunny. An odd sound leaves you unconsciously while your head tilts in confusion naturally. He couldn’t help but chuckle upon seeing your reaction before he continued from where he left off.
“I wanted to congratulate you on winning 1st place today… And also to return this…” He said as he reached into his front pocket and soon took out your bracelet which you lost a few hours ago.
This made you gasp softly whilst staring at the item in his hand in disbelief.
“How did you-”
“I was sitting at one of the tables when your bracelet fell. I was gonna return it to you but you were gone. I didn’t know how else to contact you until I saw a poster on the notice boards all over campus about the tournament today so I decided to meet you here instead. I hope this doesn’t come off as creepy or anything.” He explained to you in detail, making you shake your head eagerly.
“No! Absolutely not! You have no idea how devastated I was when I realized it was missing… Thank you so much…” You said as he gave you a smile. Both of you were silent as neither of you clearly knew how to keep a good conversation going. Nevertheless, you broke the ice after not wanting him to leave just yet.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you before on campus… Not until recently at least. Are you new here?”
“Yeah. Me and my friend just moved to this city two months ago.”
“Where were you guys from?”
He looked like he was hesitating a bit but was quick to compose himself.
“Far from here actually…” He chuckled and for some reason, you didn’t feel the need to interrogate more.
“Well, I hope you guys will have good memories here so you don’t have to move again.” It went silent for a few beats before you asked, “Pardon my rudeness… My name’s Y/N. What about you?”
“Just call me Jungkook.” He smiled.
“It’s nice talking to you Jungkook, and… thank you again for my bracelet.” You said, to which he brushed you off.
“Anytime… Hey, uh… do you have a ride home?” He asked in the most gentle tone possible.
“Yeah. I drive to school everyday. It’s okay.”
“Alright then. Drive safe. I’ll see you around.” He smiled again, making you do the same. He then walks off with his hands in his pockets and he couldn’t look any hotter than that. The entire drive home, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. How his smile could melt your heart in a flash, how your heartstrings tug whenever you lock eyes with him, how he makes you feel like you’ve known him for years, how he makes you feel comfortable, etc.
You just wished you'd known him sooner.

It was a man. You glanced up and saw what looked to be a figure of a man looming over you. Though his overall appearance and face was somewhat a terrible blur, there was one thing you could easily make out. And that was the silver pendant necklace hanging around his neck. You couldn’t really see it that clearly but it was an oval shaped pendant, similar to the ones where you can open and close it.
This was new to your dream. All these while, you’ve always seen a shadowy figure, with unclear images of your dream. This time, things were slowly beginning to become clear.
Maybe this is a memory.
A recurring memory that your brain is trying so hard to remember every piece of detail that was left untouched at the very bottom part of your brain.
So you knew, this wasn’t just any ordinary dream.
And then you awoke.
Tumblr media
It was a Friday afternoon, your two best friends wanted to go to the club that night for some drinks and just lay off some steam. You, of course, could never get away with whatever plan they had so you had no other choice but to go. You were all gathered to do your assignments at one of the tables where the study building was. Suddenly, a thought came to mind and you just couldn’t get your mind off it.
“Hey, do you remember the dream I keep having? The one where I fell into the lake?” You ask as Jisung stopped chewing his sushi while Hyunjin stops typing and slowly glances up from the top of his laptop screen.
“Yeah? What about it?” Jisung asked curiously before looking at Hyunjin to see if he knew something.
“You know how it always stops abruptly after the voice asks me if I’m okay and I see a shadow figure standing there?” You explained, earning nods from the two children.
“Well… It’s not really… a shadow figure anymore…”
“What do you mean?” Hyunjin asked, his laptop long closed to pay full attention to your story.
“I saw… a male figure. Everything about him was blurry but I could see that it’s a man. And… he had this silver pendant necklace around his neck. Those where you can open and close.”
“You mean the ones where our grandmothers would put a picture of us in it?” Jisung asked.
“Yes. That kind.” You said.
“Hmm, do you recognize it?” Hyunjin asked, earning a firm shake of your head. “How did you feel when you saw him?” Hyunjin asked again. You couldn’t bring yourself to answer right away as your mind began to recollect the feeling you had when you saw that part of the dream.
“I… felt safe.”
“Well, that’s a good start, right? I mean, if you feel scared then it’s probably a nightmare.”
“But that’s the thing! I-I don’t think it’s a dream.”
“What do you mean? Of course it’s a dream. You were sleeping when that happened, weren’t you?” Hyunjin asked with a confused tone in his voice.
“I mean yeah, technically but… I think that actually happened to me when I was young. If not, why else would I keep having the same dream over and over again?”
“You’ve got a point.” Jisung shrugs while Hyunjin still tries to process this. He brings both hands up in front of him after waving it in a circle, closes his eyes to let the information sink in before he speaks up.
“So… you’re telling me… that the universe is somehow trying to make you recall this memory of yours through a dream?”
“It’s possible isn't it?” You asked.
“Okay? And then what? You’re gonna go to the place where you almost died and somehow meet up with the person who helped you?”
“No? Yes? I don’t know! Look… I think I’ll just ask my parents about it and see if they remember anything about it. I mean… there must be something they can tell me?”
“Good luck babe. You’re gonna need it.” Jisung said, making you sigh.
That evening, you were having early dinner with your elders in the small living room of their one bedroom house. Everyone was quietly eating their food, she was peeling some roasted sweet potatoes while your he was just folding some banana leaves to sell tomorrow. You glanced over at them once or twice before taking a deep breath and dropped the bomb.
“Hey grandpa?” You call softly as the old man pauses his actions and turns to you with a smile on his adorable little face.
“Yes, darling?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Ask away…”
“When I was young… did I happen to… fall into a lake by any chance?” You asked as he frowned in thought. He couldn’t seem to remember anything of it until she spoke up.
“Oh dear, how could I not remember? You were so busy catching the butterflies that I couldn’t even stop you in time.” She giggled as you couldn’t help but smile. “But then this brave young man jumped into the water without a shadow of a doubt. We thanked him for his gratitude and tried to offer him a lunch treat but he rejected us so nicely… I wonder where he is now…” She continued, making you frown.
“Do you guys remember what he looked like?” You asked.
“I’m so sorry dear, I can barely remember anyone I met.” He said to which you let out a soft sigh. Just then, her eyes lit up only for her to raise her finger up in thought.
“Oh, the only thing I could remember was his name… If I’m not mistaken, I think he said his name to be JK like the letters… Yes, yes… That’s it.”
With that being said, you tilt your head to the side in confusion before you stare into the bowl of potatoes, “J… K?” The name sounded like there was a hint of familiarity in it but you can’t seem to point your fingers at where it’s focusing. Nevertheless, you took your attention off that topic and chose to think of what to wear for later instead.
A few hours had passed and you were finally waiting outside the club with Hyunjin and Jisung. The security checked all of your ID’s before letting you in. Hyunjin locked fingers with you just so that you wouldn’t be lost or separated from them as Jisung stayed close behind you. Once Hyunjin has managed to navigate his way around the place and finally save a booth for the 3 of you, he lets go of your hand and allows you to sit in the middle. Jisung went to the bar to order drinks for you all while you stayed with Hyunjin.
Not long after, Jisung came back with a tray of 2 shot glasses, a bottle of tequila, along with a small plate of lime slices and a glass of mocktail for you. The club was pretty much alive with the endless amount of young adults enjoying their drinks and dancing freely to the music.
You had just finished talking to Jisung about the hot girl dancing on the dancefloor when Hyunjin tapped your thigh and soon said aloud in your ear, “Don’t look now, but I think that dude is into you… 10 o’clock.” With that being said, you took a sip of your drink while you let your eyes wander over to where Hyunjin told you, only to find yourself locking eyes with a familiar pair of eyes. It was the purple haired guy from school. Jungkook was his name if you remember correctly.
“Jungkook…” His name rolled off your tongue naturally, sounding so right.
“You know him?!” Hyunjin asked, making you scoff.
“He returned my bracelet to me the other day after the tournament. He told me his name then.”
“And you didn’t tell us this, because…?” Jisung asked, sounding offended almost.
“Not everything in my life has to be told to either one of you.” With that being said, you stood up and soon made your way to Jungkook. Once you were behind him, you slipped into the empty space next to him, dropping an order to the bartender. Right after you were done, you glanced over to him who was just running his middle finger over the rim of his glass.
“Hey… Jungkook right?” You were the first to break the ice as he finally turned to you and smiled.
“Hey, yeah. Y/N, correct?”
“The one and only.” You giggled, earning a soft chuckle from him.
“Are those your friends?” He asked with a slight jerk of his head to the side, referring to the two boys in your booth. You hummed in response before asking if he was here alone or with his blue haired friend.
“Nah, he’s in here somewhere… I just told him I wanted to get a drink at the bar.” He explained, to which you frowned.
“Well, I’m pretty sure he’d be occupied by now.”
“Are you tryna say he’s hot?”
“Am I wrong?” You smiled, earning a chuckle from him.
“Absolutely not. Anyways, enough of him… Do you wanna dance with me?” He asked, turning his body to face you now on the stool. You glanced at the dancefloor, seeing the group of people dancing freely to the music like there’s no tomorrow. You knew you wanted to, especially since he was the one offering it so you easily accepted it. Jungkook got off the stool and held out his hand to you. Without having to think much, you gently place your hand in his as he leads you to the centre of the room.
Once you were with the crowd, he turned around to face you. You comfortably placed your hands around his neck, swaying your hips to the rhythm. Both of you were moving your bodies in sync to one another despite everyone else stumbling and crashing into you. At one point, he twirled you around but you lost your footing. Hence, crashing into him.
You started to burst out laughing and he did too when he realized you weren’t injured. You didn’t notice his hands on your waist until he gently squeezed it to gain your attention. That’s when you glanced up to meet his eyes, your laughter died down as your heart began to beat rapidly in your chest. Heartstrings started to tug everytime he looked at you and it’s unhealthy. For your heart at least despite loving it.
“Are you okay?” He asked softly, his face was just inches away from yours. Suddenly, a part of your dream flashed through your mind upon hearing his question. You frowned a little from the abrupt thought. However, before you could reply to him, a frantic voice to your left made you jump only to meet Jisung’s heavy frown.
“Y/N! You have to help me! Hyunjin got into a fight!” With that, you basically tear yourself out of Jungkook and rush over with Jisung to where the fight was happening. Hyunjin was in a fist fight with two guys who were not much taller than him but were definitely bulkier than he was. You yelled for them to stop but they of course couldn’t hear you. Jisung went in to help Hyunjin but he got punched in the jaw.
“Stop it! Please! Hyunjin stop!” You yelled as he fell in front of you. His lip was busted, his cheek was bruised and his knuckles were bleeding from having a cut. You kneeled down beside your friend as you watched the guy charging over to you and Hyunjin.
So you got up and pushed the guy away with whatever strength you had. But instead, you got slapped across the cheek.
You collapsed to the ground with a hand to your face. Everything happened so quickly because right before the guy could throw a punch to Hyunjin, Jungkook swooped in from the side and landed a hard punch to the guy’s jaw making him fall to the ground with a harsh thud.
“Enough! Get lost before I call security.” Jungkook warned as you watched the two guys who were in the fight with Hyunjin began to scramble away. You crawled over to Hyunjin who was holding his jaw with a hiss. You cupped his face worriedly while you scolded him.
“What were you thinking?! You could have gotten even more hurt…” You frowned, only for Jisung to come over. That’s when you cupped Jisung’s bruised face as well.
Just then, Jungkook kneeled down asking for all of you to leave before the security came. Soon enough, Jungkook’s blue haired friend appears as well and the five of you leave the club through the back door. Once you were in the back alley, Hyunjin used Jisung as support while you held onto his waist and allowed him to sling an arm over your shoulder.
“Come on, our apartment isn't too far from here. We’ll need to get those cuts treated.” Jungkook said, only for Jungkook’s friend to come and ask for you to switch with him. You asked for his name, in which he told you it was Taehyung, so you thanked him afterwards. While they were walking ahead of you, Jungkook stayed next to you as he took off his coat and placed it over your shoulders. Eventually drowning you in his big coat. He chuckled at your ridiculously swallowed body, only for him to speak up.
“You were really trying to be a hero back there, huh?” You glanced up to him, seeing the small smirk on his face but it didn’t annoy you at all.
“He was going to hurt my friend. I can’t just sit there and do nothing...” You pouted slightly, to which his smirk melted and he sighed.
“No matter how dangerous it may be?” He asked as you frowned upon him. Nevertheless, you gave him a firm nod which left him to sigh. Silence falls upon you two, your gaze settles on the three boys walking ahead of you. Just then, Jungkook’s voice is gentle and soft, as if he didn’t want the rest to hear him.
“I’m sorry I didn’t help you sooner… If I did, you probably wouldn’t get hurt…”
“No… No it’s okay… it’s not your fault.” You said softly, making him shake his head. He feels responsible for not jumping in to help Hyunjin when Jisung came to warn you earlier. He felt like he could’ve done better and for that, he couldn’t forgive himself. So when you noticed how quiet he got, you carefully reached for his hand that was just beside yours and soon locked fingers with him to give him some kind of support. And maybe more than that too but he doesn’t have to know.
He glanced down at your linked hands, only for him to lock eyes with you again and this time, a small smile grew back on his face. You gave his hand a little squeeze for reassurance and was about to let go, thinking he might feel that it’s weird considering you barely know him. However, he held your hand tighter and said, “Keep it there. At least until we’re back at my place.” With that being said, you nodded as a blush creeps up on your face.
Once you arrived at Jungkook and Taehyung’s shared apartment, Taehyung tended to Hyunjin while Jungkook tended to Jisung. You were just walking around the living room when you saw a necklace on the table top. It was a silver chain necklace with a round pendant on it. What was even more intriguing is the fact that it looked so familiar to you and it was one of those pendants where you could open and close.
The question is, why did it look so familiar?
Just when you were about to open it, Jisung’s voice called for you as he reappeared into the living room while Hyunjin was still in the bathroom with Taehyung.
“Y/N, hyung asked me to call you over. He’s in his room, the last door on the right.” You gave Jisung a nod as you placed the necklace down and went to the said room. When you arrived, you gave the door a few soft knocks before Jungkook looked up and smiled at you. He told you to sit down on his bed next to him.
“Are you okay? Does it still hurt?” Jungkook asked and there it is again, a weird tug to your heartstrings made your breath hitch. Jungkook stared at you quietly before he asked if there’s something wrong. When you denied it, he went ahead and took a cool pack as he then pressed it against your cheek where you got slapped. You couldn’t seem to bring the words out so you opted to just put your hand over his that was holding the ice pack to make him look at you.
“This is random… but have… have we met before? Like before all this… Before university. I don’t know why but I feel like- like I’ve met you before. I keep getting this same feeling everytime I’m near you.” You said as he stared at you deeply without faltering.
It was nearly impossible to read his expression and thoughts but a part of you was telling you that he’s hiding something from you.
“Maybe we’ve bumped into each other before on the street or something.” Jungkook said as a small smile creeps onto his face. A genuine one at that. So without prying further, you nodded and gave him a soft smile. You thanked him for helping your friends as you excused yourself to let him and Taehyung rest. Jungkook offered to send all three of you home but you refused his kindness politely, opting for a cab instead so as to not trouble him any more than you already had.
“Are you sure? It’s really late out and I don’t mind driving you and your friends back.” He said as you both stopped at the foot of the hallway only to find Hyunjin semi-passed out on the couch after swallowing two aspirins you assume. Jisung was talking to Taehyung, well, more like ranting to the blue haired male about what went down at the club earlier.
With that, you turned to Jungkook and gently reached for his arm, holding it to give him some reassurance, “We’ll be fine. I promise.” You smiled as his eyebrows began to connect in the middle.
You let go of his arm, walking over to Jisung and Taehyung to retrieve your drunk friend.
“Thanks Taehyung. So sorry to disturb your night.” You apologized as Taehyung simply shook his head and told you that it was okay. Once you’ve gotten the green light, you snapped your fingers at Jisung and soon pointed to Hyunjin’s distraught figure.
“You take right, I’ll take left.” You said to him as he nodded. Hyunjin began to stir awake slightly but was still groggy and drunk. You struggled to get his arm over your head so Taehyung helped you with that. After you were ready to leave, Jisung and you began to walk towards the door where Jungkook was patiently waiting. Hyunjin tiredly opened one of his eyelids and was starting to slur over his words.
“Where am I? What are you doing? Where are you taking me, you kidnapper!” You slapped his chest quite harshly before earning a loud groan from him.
“We’re at someone’s house because your stupid drunk ass just had to get into a fight with two bigger dudes. You should be ashamed of yourself, you dimwit.” Hyunjin lets out a weird sound as he leans himself more towards you.
“H-Hyun… H-Hyunjin! Hwang Hyunjin!” You yelled as you were about to fall and get squished by him when a firm arm wrapped around your waist while the other hand was pressed firmly against Hyunjin’s rib to support his heavy weight. In addition, your side crashes against someone’s chest. You glanced up to find Jungkook’s chin directly above your line of sight. Jungkook pushed Hyunjin’s body slightly to stabilize the said man as you managed to stand up straight again.
Except, his arm was still around your waist. Almost as if he didn’t wanna let go of you. Not that you were complaining anyway. However, when he noticed this, he slowly retracted his arm from your waist and apologized to you. You shook your head, to tell him that it’s okay. After you left, Jungkook closed the door behind him only for Taehyung to smile at him.
“Ready to admit yet?” Taehyung asked simply, earning a thick eye roll from Jungkook who began to walk over to his couch.
“Shut up, hyung.”
“What? It’s just me…”
“You’re not seeing my vulnerable side. Uh uh. No way.” Jungkook shook his head diligently, causing Taehyung to laugh as Jungkook continued, “Besides, they’re gonna kill me if they find out.” With that being said, Taehyung sighs at the younger male. Knowing that he had a point.
“No they won’t. I won’t let them.”
“How? Stopping them is nearly impossible, you know that.” Jungkook said firmly.
After a few seconds of silence, Jungkook finally took a deep breath and said, “Whatever. I don’t care.” Jungkook was about to leave the room when Taehyung’s words lingered in his memory like a broken record player.
“You and I both know that’s a lie.”

“Grandma! Grandpa! We’re here!” Your 5 year old self exclaims the minute the cab driver brings the vehicle to a stop right at the entrance of the park. You hurriedly got out of the cab whilst your foster father was busy paying the driver for the fare. You run to the end of the footpath as it separates into two directions, leading you to different parts of the park.
“Grandma! Hurry! I want to see the swans!” You yelled excitedly as the elderly couple began to walk slowly towards you. Since they were just a few metres away from you, it was the perfect chance for you to run off towards the path on the left where the lake would be. Occasionally taking breaks while waiting for your foster parents to catch up with you. People around you give you smiles whenever you pass by them and say hello.
You were walking down the footpath, trying to find a pair of swans when a beautiful sky blue coloured butterfly suddenly hovered in front of your face. You flinched back in surprise as it landed on the tip of your small nose. A soft giggle left your lips as you reached up to touch its wings when it began to flutter away. Being the child you are, you started to trail after it.
The butterfly flaps its wings delicately across the park, freely and happily while you try to not lose sight of it. Unfortunately, your carelessness has brought you closer to danger than you would’ve thought at the time.
“Y/N, sweetie! Don’t go too near the lake!” Your foster mother said as she walked side by side with your foster father. Your 5 year old self was running down the footpath, trying to diligently catch the beautiful sky blue coloured butterfly.
“Y-Yes… T-Thank you, M-Mister…” You stumbled over your words as you saw your elders rushing over to you. That’s when the man said something that wasn’t quite understandable to you.
“I promise to keep you safe from any harm.” He said over a whisper but you heard him.
This was new to your dream. All these while, you’ve always seen a shadowy figure, unclear images of your dream, missing details, unknown situation. This time, things were slowly beginning to become clear with more details given to you in the form of this dream.
At this point, you were confident that this is in fact, a memory.
A recurring memory that your brain is trying so hard to remember every piece of detail that was left untouched at the very bottom part of your brain.
You just have to let time do the magic and fill you in with what’s left of the missing dream.
And then you awoke.
Tumblr media
Days passed gradually as both Taehyung and Jungkook started to become friends with you, Hyunjin and Jisung. Well, they were dragged by Jisung at least. That one just doesn’t know how to stop his bargains until he gets what he wants. So eventually, both the coloured hair friends decided to just accept the welcome to be part of the friend circle. Later on in the weeks, you began to have growing feelings for Jungkook. The butterflies in your stomach and tugging heartstring were still present whenever he was near but you’ve grown accustomed to it.
It was a nice, warm Friday afternoon. Taehyung and Jungkook were nowhere to be seen while Hyunjin and Jisung were seated at the wooden table with you near the garden. Your mind was somewhere else and the boys noticed this. It was easy to know that because your fingers were hovering over your keyboard but nothing was being typed and it’s been a good 10 minutes of you just staring at the pond. Just then, Hyunjin’s voice broke your train of thoughts.
“A penny for your thoughts?” He asked, to which you turned to him with a confused face.
“Huh?”
“You look like you’re grieving over there. What’s wrong?” Jisung was the one to ask this as silence falls over you for the next 5 seconds, give or take.
“Something… new appeared in my dreams. It doesn’t just start with my mom telling me to avoid the lake anymore.” You began to explain as both boys soon stopped whatever they were previously doing, just to listen and pay full attention to you.
“Then what does it start with now?” Hyunjin asks curiously as he and Jisung exchange looks before turning back to you.
“Me in the cab with my parents and getting excited once we arrived at the park… But that’s not the only change in my dream that’s new. The dream doesn’t just stop at the part where he asks if I’m okay… This time, the last thing he said to me was…” You paused for a second to try and remember the exact words. Once you got it on the tip of your tongue, you brought your gaze back up to meet theirs and told them what you remembered.
“I promise to keep you safe from any harm. And then I woke up.”
The two boys were shocked at how much details your dream was showing now but they just can’t decipher why these changes were happening so suddenly. What caused your dreams to be more clearer as if it wants you to slowly remember that day, that incident, that specific person.
None of it was making sense to them.
“I just… I don’t understand. Like, why now? Why after all these years, only now your conscience is showing you all this. Why didn’t it show you from the start? What is it hiding? I don’t get it.” Jisung said as he dramatically pulled at his hair.
You couldn’t help but giggle at his figure before speaking up, “It’s my dream but why are you the one stressed?”
“Aren’t you?! I mean come on. You’ve been having this dream for years, aren’t you even a tad bit curious as to why this is happening to you?” Jisung asked with his eyes wide open. He has a point.
“Maybe the universe just wants me to remember that tragic incident for the rest of my life.”
“Or it wants you to find the hidden clues in your dreams that might lead you to something big.” Hyunjin shrugged his shoulders at you, earning a shake of your head.
“What could possibly be bigger than my near-death experience?”
“I don’t know? Meeting your savior and thanking him for saving you that day?” Jisung said with his arms bent on either side as his palms faced upwards.
“That’s ridiculous. I don’t even know what he looks like. Besides, if he really was in his early 20s when that incident happened, he would be like what? Early 40s now? He probably doesn’t even remember me.”
“Fate works in mysterious ways.” Jisung smirks at you, earning a ball of tissue thrown to his face.
You thought his theory was a whole load of nonsense because theoretically, your savior would be in his 40s by now and it’s nearly impossible for him to remember who you are. It wouldn’t make sense. However, in other circumstances, the universe has different layers to it. So the chances of something out of the ordinary happening, would be a solid 1 out of 10 chance but it’s not completely impossible. It just depends on how you wanted to see it.
Your attention soon diverted past Jisung’s head only to see Taehyung and Jungkook walking over to your table so you warned the two, not to mention anything about your dream when they’re there. Nobody knows about your recurring dream except for Hyunjin and Jisung and you intend to keep it that way.
A few hours later, you were at the supermarket to get some groceries for the house when you stumbled upon Jungkook who was searching through the shelves for something so you spoke up first, “Jungkook? Hey. What are you doing here? I thought your apartment was like 20 minutes away from here?” You asked him casually, earning a smirk from him.
“Ah shit. Looks like I’m busted…” Jungkook said, knowing he was just fooling around. He soon laughed as he continued from where he left off, “I’m just kidding. I needed some stuff that my nearest supermarket didn’t have so I drove over to this one.”
“Well, at least that's better than you stalking me right?”
“Why should I stalk you when I already have you at one phone call away?”
Smooth.
“Maybe you’re just clingy and want to see me.” You teased him to see what he says. You didn’t really know what to expect until he gave you his answer.
“And if that’s true?”
You were quiet as you didn’t think he would be that bold and straightforward. Sure he can be confident and maybe just slightly cocky sometimes but he was never over doing it when he’s with you. For that reason alone, you found that side of him charming.
“Then… you need to see a therapist.” You joked but he took it lightly. A small laugh leaves his lips while he grabs the can of sweetcorn from the shelf. At the end of your shopping spree, he offered to send you home after seeing the amount of bags you had to carry after you told him your car was recently sent to the workshop and wouldn't be repaired anytime soon. Of course you told him you could make it home on your own the first time because you didn’t wanna trouble him. And of course, he brushed you off by saying he wouldn’t be able to sleep if he knew he didn’t help you tonight.
With that being said, he drove you back to your home while he chatted with you comfortably about a series on netflix. Once he finally pulled up in front of your home, he glanced down to where your home was and soon turned to you with a smile.
“You didn’t tell me you lived in a cute little house.” He said effortlessly but it made you frown slightly.
“Well, to many, it's a ‘tiny shack’.”
“Well, those people are assholes.” His words made you laugh softly. You knew he was trying to make you feel better about it so you secretly thanked him for that. Both of you fell silent for a few seconds before he turned off his ignition completely and clapped his hands together once to liven up the mood.
“Come on! I’ll help you carry the groceries!” He left the vehicle before you could stop him, finding it cute that he was eager to help when he really didn’t have to. After he stubbornly carried three bags in each arm, you were left with none despite wanting to help him. You rolled your eyes at his persistence even though your smile never lies. Jungkook walks with you to your front door, only for you to unlock it and is soon greeted by your foster mother.
“Oh hello dear, I was just about to see if you were making your way home yet.” She said as her gaze soon fell onto the male beside you.
“Oh? And who are you, young man?” She asked with a fond smile on her face.
“I’m Jungkook, Ma’am.”
“You seem like a handsome young man, Jungkook. And well mannered too. I think you’d be a great partner for her.”
With that, you gasped softly and scolded her politely. Jungkook simply laughed as he brushed her off saying that it’s okay. Just as he was keeping the groceries with you in the correct places, your father walked out of his room and greeted Jungkook warmly. They talked for a bit while you kept the last bag of celery into the fridge when you overheard your father ask, “You should stay for dinner, Jungkook. My wife and I would love to get to know you more, especially if you are someone special in Y/N’s life.”
Jungkook was too kind to reject their offer so he ended up staying, just like they asked. Thankfully, your elders were mainly focusing on Jungkook rather than trying to convince him into dating you or anything like that. At the end of the dinner, he excused himself so as to not disturb your parent’s privacy. He bid them goodbye whilst you told them you wanted to walk him back to his car.
Once you made it to the top of the steps, you glanced back at the house and naturally, a smile grew on your face. He noticed this and he couldn’t help but ask, “You seem a little happy.”
You turned around to find him staring at you fondly with a smile.
“I just… can’t imagine my life without them.” You whispered sadly to yourself, suddenly a whole series of emotions just got washed over you. It took you a while to come back to your senses with the help of Jungkook. Who gently cups your face in his hands, caressing your cheeks lovingly while he does. Jungkook’s sparkly eyes bore into yours but the connection feels stronger than ever tonight. Your usual tugging of heartstrings and feeling of longing just felt stronger tonight. As he was holding you, a small part of you was yearning for him.
You felt a sense of safety and comfort with him but you don’t seem to understand why. Jungkook could read you like an open book, it was fascinating. Just then, he said something that made you genuinely shocked.
“Your foster parents are really nice. I should’ve thanked them for taking care of you well.” This made you pull away from him slightly in shock.
How did he know they’re not your grandparents?
“How did you know they’re not my grandparents?” You asked as Jungkook visibly froze.
“What do you mean?”
“You said ‘foster parents’ instead of ‘grandparents’...”
“Uh… You must’ve told me before that they’re not your grandparents.” He chuckled softly while rubbing the back of his neck. You weren’t fully convinced by his answer because if you had told him that, you would’ve remembered. However, you weren’t in the mood to question him further so you simply stood there in thought. Jungkook didn’t want you to occupy your mind with it, leading him to take a step closer to you until his forehead gently pressed against yours. Both of you stayed like that for a second or two before he leaned over to the side and kissed your cheek.
“Goodnight Y/N.” He said with a small smile on his face that you couldn’t help but mimic. The minute he drove off into the distance, the thought remained stuck in your mind as you found it difficult to move on from it. And yet for some reason, a part of you knew that he might be hiding something from you. You just don’t know what it is.
Even so, the feeling of his soft lips on your cheek, lingered in your head. Feeling giddy at the thought of him kissing you even if it wasn’t on the lips. You felt like a little girl having a crush on a boy all over again.
But that night, you had the same recurring dream again. Except, a new change happened this time as your dream was slowly becoming clearer.

A few days later, you were going to your next class when Hyunjin told you he forgot something in the other lecture hall. Leaving just you and Jisung. Your mind was swirling around the latest dream you had where the image of your savior was starting to get clearer as the days went by. Jisung could easily sense your distraction because you had not paid attention to any of the things he just said. He got his answer when he snapped his fingers in front of your face and saw you flinch.
“Earth to Y/N? Are you okay? You’re barely listening to me…” He pouted at you sadly, making you sigh.
“Sorry Ji… I just have a lot on my mind.”
“Like what?”
You took in a deep breath and exhaled right before explaining to him what was bothering you, “You know how my dreams are starting to get clear?”
“Mhm?” He hummed in response to which you continued.
“I can almost make out what the person looks like now.”
“Wait! Wait… You mean… The person who saved you?”
“Yeah.”
“Really? That’s great! I mean… Isn’t it? Didn’t your dad tell you the guy’s name the other day? Maybe you can try and find him to say thank you.” Jisung laid out the options you could take but somehow, a part of you still wasn’t sure if this was enough for you to go find the person.
“Ji… How am I supposed to find him?” You asked desperately, thinking his suggestion was insane.
“We have advanced technology now! It’s not that hard.”
“I don’t know, Ji… I don’t think we can find him.”
“Y/N, don’t give up before you even start. We’ll find him together and I’ll be here with you, okay? So will Hyunjin once we tell him…” Jisung said with a bright grin, his full cheeks on display for you. Hours later, you were walking to the parking lot with Hyunjin and Jisung when you bumped into Jungkook and Taehyung coming from the music production block. They were busy talking to each other, not realising the three of you were right there until Hyunjin called their names. They finally turned towards the front only for you to lock eyes with Jungkook.
“Hey guys, wanna go check out that new horror movie?” Hyunjin asked, making them both shrug their shoulders.
“Sure. We’re not doing anything anyways tonight.” Taehyung answered for both himself and Jungkook.
“Great! Shall we meet at the mall?” Jisung asked as he turned to you knowing everyone had their rides except for you. However, before Jisung could offer you a ride, Jungkook had offered it first which you of course, couldn’t reject.
Once you had all separated to go to your respective vehicles, you followed Jungkook to his. You walked along the front of the parked cars with Jungkook behind you. Just then, right when you were about to take a step forward past a tall jeep, Jungkook harshly tugged your waist back. Exactly 1 second before the sports car speeds out of the parking lot right next to the jeep where it was hiding from plain sight. If he hadn’t pulled you back to safety, you would’ve been run over.
A heavy breath left your lips after you gasped in shock. Your heart was racing in your chest, unable to calm down after your second near death experience. Suddenly, you could feel his hands run up and down your arms in attempts to calm your tense muscles in which it worked.
“Are you okay?” He asked as you slowly nodded.
Jungkook whispered a soft ‘okay’ before he guided you to his car safely. As soon as he drove out of the school compound, you felt a huge relief knowing you didn’t die in your school’s parking lot. He must’ve noticed your trembling hands at some point too. Hence the reason why he reached over with his free hand to hold yours softly to give you comfort. When you looked down to find him doing that, you couldn’t help but glance up at him to see his gaze focused on the road ahead of him while he had one hand on the top of his steering wheel.
The ride to the mall was peacefully quiet, with his hand never leaving yours except when he had to park and change the gear stick to reverse. The minute he finally brought the car to a stationary position, you took this opportunity to thank him for helping you earlier.
“Thank you for saving me earlier… A-And for calming me down on our way here.” You said softly to which he smiled.
“Of course. I wouldn’t wanna lose you.” He said easily, making you blush.
“How did you know the car was driving out?” You asked him a bonus question that made him freeze for a split second.
“I saw the tail lights turn on, red light flashing onto the tree behind it.” Jungkook said, which was pretty logical if you think about it. You decided to let the topic slide as you met up with the rest at the entrance. Upon buying the movie tickets, you were all going to get snacks to sneak it into the theatres. After a few debates, you have all agreed to buy some seasoned fries and popcorn chicken bites from FiveGuys. While Hyunjin was queuing to buy the food, the four of you wandered around the same level to see if there’s anything else you could buy.
You were just looking at some stuffed toys through the glass windows of a shop when someone wrapped an arm around your waist comfortably.
“Planning to sneak one in or what?” Jungkook asked teasingly, to which you couldn’t help but giggle.
“And use it to shield my vision from the horror movie? Yeah, why not.” You said, feeling your heartstrings tug upon hearing his laugh. You stood up straight to walk away, only for him to do the same with his arm still around your waist. None of you wanted the other to pull away and you could tell. When you saw Jisung and Taehyung at the other shop ahead of you, Jungkook was debating on whether he should pull his hand away from your waist.
Unfortunately, his thoughts were cut short when Jisung’s voice sounded from a few feet away.
“Hyung… Y/N Is there something you’re hiding from us?” His voice sounded cheeky and you could tell. You looked at Jungkook and he did the same to you, not sure of what you should reply to your friend. Partly because neither of you declared anything of your status with each other. Upon realising this, Jungkook decided to answer for both of you.
“She got cold so I’m just offering her some warmth.” He said without a single hesitation, successfully convincing Jisung.
“Really? Do you want my jacket?” Jisung asked you as he unzipped his jacket and grabbed the hem, ready to tug them off his shoulders but you stopped him saying it’s okay.
After you had all managed to head into the theatre, you sat in between Jungkook and Hyunjin in the centre of the row. Halfway through the movie, you naturally snuggled closer towards Jungkook who easily noticed this. Your heart was beating so fast in your chest but you ignored it. At one point, Jungkook whispered something to you but you couldn’t hear him so you glanced to your right only to feel his lips brush over yours when you did that. You saw him glance down to your lips briefly as he smirks softly at you, causing your heartbeat to pick up its speed.
“I said… Do you wanna hold my arm? I’m sorry I don’t have a jacket to offer you.” He repeated his words to you, earning a soft nod of your head. You proceed to slide your arm behind his bicep, wrapping your hand over his forearm. Jungkook smiled as he leaned in softly only to feel him kiss your cheek so gently, you would barely feel it if you weren’t paying attention.
After the movie ended, the rest of them wanted to get ice cream before you went home. Once it was time to call it a day, Jungkook sent you home without being asked to do so.
When he finally arrives outside your house, he told you he’ll walk you to your door.
The minute he joins you by your side, he slips his hand into yours as you easily let him. He locked fingers with you, holding you close to his side as if he was afraid of losing you. When you made it to your front door, you turned around to face him. He had a bright smile on his face, eyes twinkling under the moonlight.
“Thank you for sending me home.” You said, earning a soft chuckle from him.
“No worries. Besides, how would I get my goodnight kiss if I didn’t send you home, right?” Jungkook teased you, making you blush hard.
“G-Goodnight kiss?” You repeated those two words in a whisper, catching his attention.
Jungkook laughed at you, not expecting to see you react so shyly like that. Jungkook reaches up with his free hand to cup your face, caressing your cheek softly with his thumb. You watched as he began to lean down, closing the gap until his lips were hovering over yours. Unfortunately, your fairytale thoughts were cut short because the minute you felt his soft lips brush against your own pair, your front door opened and there stood your mother with a bright smile on her face.
You jumped away from him in shock, clutching your chest where your heart is.
“Oh my! Goodness! Grandma! You shocked me…” You said with a heavy sigh, earning a soft giggle from her.
“I’m so sorry dear. I saw Jungkook’s car outside so I was wondering where you two were.” She said, making you sigh.
“You should go. It’s getting late. Goodnight Y/N… Goodnight Ma’am.” Jungkook said before he gave your hand a light squeeze before walking away. After he left, you entered the house with her only for her to ask you something you never expected.
“Are you finally dating the nice boy? What’s his name again? Jungkook, is it?”
“H-Huh? Oh… N-No, no. Jungkook, he… he’s just a friend.”
“Are you sure? I can see that he likes you a lot and I’m pretty sure you do too.”
For the first time in your life, you were speechless. You didn’t know what to answer. So you simply kept quiet as you guided her further inside before you head to your room.
Tumblr media
It’s been a week since the ‘almost-kissing-him-goodnight’ incident which neither of you dared to acknowledge it outwardly. Just hugging and holding hands and occasionally kissing your cheek like he’s been doing all these while. It was a Saturday evening, you were in your bedroom when your mom came knocking on your door and said, “Dear, someone’s here to see you.”
With that, she pushed the door open to reveal Jungkook standing there with a shy smile on his face. He was wearing a white shirt, a black and white large flannel unbuttoned over it and a pair of slightly loose denim jeans. You ushered him in as you patted the mattress, asking to sit down.
After she had closed the door to give you two some privacy, that’s when you giggled softly. Clearly not expecting his arrival.
“What are you doing here?” You asked.
“I was passing by the neighbourhood so I decided to come and say hi. I hope I’m not a disturbance to you or your parents at this hour.” He apologised to you as his eyes began to wander around your bedroom.
It was small but really cosy to you. All there is, was a small desk for you to do your school work, a super single mattress laid on the floor at the corner of the room beside the window, a drawer to keep your clean clothes and a full length mirror. You smiled as you watched him quietly, finding his curious face pretty cute with how his eyes grew round and his lips were parted slightly to show his adorable bunny teeth.
Minutes ticked by so fast when you’re not paying attention. Both of you were just joking around at some point when you saw his necklace fall out of his shirt where he had hid it. It was the same necklace you saw that night on his tabletop but what was even more intriguing is that it was the exact same one that the guy in your dream was wearing.
You reached forward for his necklace but stopped halfway. Jungkook knew what you were going to do so he held the pendant in his fingers and asked why you were going to reach for it.
“I’m sorry, I just… I feel like… I’ve seen the necklace you’re wearing, somewhere before. It’s okay. I must be mistaken though.” You said as you let out a soft laugh. Jungkook remained quiet as he nodded. Suddenly, you watched as he took off the necklace and soon put it around your neck. You frowned as you glanced down at his lips where his face was just inches away from yours, only to meet his gaze after he’s successfully clasped the necklace hook in the loop.
“Why did you put it on me?” You asked in total confusion, having absolutely no idea as to why he did that.
“Keep it.” He said.
“B-But I can’t! It’s yours!”
“I mean it. It’s yours now.” He said as he gave you the softest smile you’ve ever seen. With that, you simply clutched onto it like your life depends on it. When you finally walked him out to his car, you suddenly felt like you didn’t want him to go just yet. Jungkook could sense your hesitation so he lightly chuckled.
“Do you really have to go?” You whispered shyly, earning a laugh from him.
“I have to, besides, it’s getting late. I don’t want to disturb your parents. They need their rest.”
“Hmm… Okay…” You hummed sadly, only for Jungkook to chuckle. Just then, Jungkook takes a step forward as he slides one hand over your waist while the other hand cups your cheek. He tugs you closer as you glance up to lock eyes with him. Jungkook’s eyes glistened under the moonlight as he caressed your cheek with his thumb while his eyes flickered down to your lips. Neither of you said anything as he closed the gap and soon kissed you. Your heart pounded against your chest while you snake your hands around his slim waist.
You felt him smile against your lips before he pulled away to leave barely any space between your faces only for him to whisper, “I love you.”
You were about to reply but he stopped you.
“Don’t… Don’t say it yet.”
“Why?”
“You’ll get to say it when the time is right…”
“When will that be?” You whispered to him, unsure of what was going on and you couldn’t help but feel like something’s wrong.
“You’ll know it… I promise.” Jungkook said as you frowned upon him. You didn’t understand why but you obeyed his words nonetheless. Jungkook breathes out through his nose before he kisses you again longingly, making your heart swell for him. When he finally pulled away, you could feel your whole world slowly begin to crumble.
Something’s not right.
With a heavy heart, you watched as he got into his car and drove off into the distance. There was a voice in the back of your mind telling you that there’s something off with his behaviour. You just don’t know exactly what it was.
That night, your questions were answered.
That night is when it all happened.
That night is when your dream finally became crystal clear to you and all the memories came flooding back like a tsunami.
Tumblr media
“Grandma!
You glanced up and saw a young man probably in his mid 20s looming over you. His facial features were a blur but you could somehow see how defined and sharp everything was. The bridge of his nose, his beautiful doe round eyes, the silver hair falling down his forehead. Except, there was one thing you could easily make out. And that was the silver pendant necklace hanging around his neck. You couldn’t really see it that clearly but it was an oval shaped pendant, similar to the ones where you can open and close it.
“Y-Yes… T-Thank you, M-Mister…” You stumbled over your words as you saw your elders rushing over to you. That’s when the man said something that wasn’t quite understandable to you.
“I promise to keep you safe from any harm.” He said over a whisper but you heard him.
This time, when you glanced back up to meet the face of the man who saved your life, it was like the blur finally faded away and you could see clearly whoever was standing in front of you. That’s when you realised. The man who saved your life, the man that has been appearing in your dreams as nothing but a black shadow to begin with, the man who you owed your entire life to for giving you the opportunity of a second chance at life, was the same guy who you met a few months ago. The same guy who you became close to. The same guy who you eventually fell in love with.
It was him this entire time.
It was Jungkook.
But how? That’s impossible… right? How could he not age? How is he not in his early 40s by now if he really was in his early 20s when he saved you 20 years ago?
All these questions began to swirl around your head, filling you with a million different emotions.
And then you awoke.
Tumblr media
It was 3 in the goddamn morning but sleep was no longer in your to-do list. You quickly changed out of your sleeping shorts to your sweatpants, putting your bra on and an oversized jacket as you rushed out of the house without waking your parents up and soon made your way to his place. You gave it a few knocks, hoping he was still awake. A few seconds later, the door swings open only for you to be greeted by a shirtless Taehyung. He seemed fully awake as he gave you a confused smile.
"Y/N? What are you doing here at a time like this?" He asked as politely as possible.
“I’m looking for Jungkook. Is he here?”
“Uh… He’s not home… He probably won’t be for the next few days…”
“Why? Where did he go?” You asked a little impatiently. Taehyung stared at you in worry as he wasn’t sure what to say to you.
“He, um… He has a very important business to handle somewhere else. I’ll update you once he’s back-”
“I really can’t wait that long, I need to see him now…” You partially begged as Taehyung pressed his lips into a straight line in defeat.
“He went back to the cosmos…”
Now it was your turn to get confused.
“Cosmos? What cosmos? What are you talking about?”
“Me and Jungkook… We’re not from this universe.” You stared at him in disbelief but for some reason, you knew he wasn’t lying.
“T-Then… Then does that mean you’re… immortal?”
“Correct. How did you find out?” Taehyung asked as he stepped aside for you to enter. Once you made it inside, he guided you over to the couch where you decided to come clean.
“When I was five, I almost died… But someone saved me from drowning. I never got to remember who it was. Right after my 16th birthday, I started getting these blurry, recurring dreams about my accident. The dream wasn’t clear but I kept seeing the same scenes happen again and again. A few months back, my dream slowly began to get clearer but I still couldn’t see who saved me that day… And just now… just now is when my dream finally became crystal clear and I saw everything. Now I remember.” You said. Taehyung smiled as his eyes travelled down to the necklace around your neck.
“He gave you his necklace, huh?” He asked softly. You held it in your hand as you reached forward with your other hand to hold Taehyung’s forearm gently.
“Taehyung, I need to see him. All these years, I’ve been trying to figure out who saved me that day but I have no idea who it was. Now that I know, I have to tell him.”
“There is something I have to tell you.” You remained quiet as you stared at him desperately so he took that as his cue to continue.
“Jungkook was never supposed to save you that day. His task was to simply watch over you. Sort of like a guardian angel. He can’t help you no matter how fatal the situation was for you because that’s just how it works for us. But that day, he couldn’t bear to see your parents cry. He didn’t have the heart to watch you drown in front of your parents…” Taehyung paused as you slowly began to piece this whole thing together.
“So that’s why he saved me…”
“Correct. However, because of that, the higher deities did not approve of his actions… So, he had to receive punishment. And his first punishment was that he has to watch over you from afar as you grow up without getting into close contact with you until your 16th birthday. The recurring dreams you had since you turned 16 was the second punishment. You were made to slowly remember that it was him who saved you that day. And once you fully remember that it was him…” Taehyung stopped abruptly as if he was afraid to continue.
“What happens if I remember it was him? Taehyung tell me! What happens if I remember?” You asked desperately as Taehyung frowned at you sadly.
“He will forget that you ever existed.”
“What…?” Your heart stopped as you couldn’t get this thought through your thick head.
“That’s his punishment.”
“N-No… No he… he can’t forget me. He’s been there for me my entire life, he can’t just forget me… No…” You began to get anxious as Taehyung felt bad for you. You were determined to not let Jungkook forget you so you begged Taehyung to bring you to the cosmos and see Jungkook. Taehyung didn’t want to risk it at first but after seeing how determined you were and knowing that Jungkook would not want to forget you, Taehyung decided to help.
Tumblr media
Jungkook stood in the middle of the courtroom up in the cosmos, ready to receive his punishment. Though his heart was already shattered into a million pieces, he told himself he had to stay strong in order to have even the slightest bit of hope that he would somehow remember you after all this was done. He couldn’t bear to lose you. Not again. Not ever. He has loved you from the start. He fell in love with the little girl he was told to look after. The minute he laid eyes on you on the day you were born, he knew that he would look after you to the best of his abilities.
He made a promise to himself that he would do whatever it takes to protect you from any harm that may come in your way. Jungkook wouldn’t know what he would do if he just watched you get hurt no matter how little or fatal the accident may be. And on that unfortunate day where he was just watching over you from afar, running along the edge of the lake trying to catch the butterfly, he already saw it coming. He just wasn’t sure if he should obey the words of his deity or defy them by doing exactly what he was told not to do.
In which he ended up choosing the latter for he could not bear to see your parents crying and struggling to save you. Jungkook wasn’t heartless and he wasn’t planning on becoming one. Hence, why he decided to dive into the lake that day and save you. He knew his actions would result in a heavy consequence but he didn’t care at the time. All he wanted was for you to have a second chance at life and thanks to him, you got it.
So as he stood there, his mind was filled with memories of you. From when you were a kid to now. Every single memory he had of you, lingered in his mind like posters and pictures pinned to a bulletin board. Suddenly, all he could think of was kissing you. How soft your lips were. How good it felt to finally tell you how he feels about you. To be able to hold you in his arms and tell you he loves you because he wouldn’t get to say it to you again after tonight.
It broke him but he was satisfied.
“Jeon Jungkook. You were called upon the courthouse to receive your punishment for the offence you committed years ago. Are you aware that the girl has finally seen the truth in her dreams?” His deity asked, earning a scoff from Jungkook.
“If she hadn't, I wouldn’t be here.”
His deity leaned back in his seat feeling slightly furious with how Jungkook was showing lack of respect for them. Nonetheless, they continued with Jungkook’s sentencing.
“Very well then. By the power vested in me, thou shall have no memory of the said girl after tonight. Every single memory of her shall be erased, leaving no traces of her behind. In addition, thou shall not remember any mortal from the past 2 years and vice versa. It shall be as though they never existed in each other’s lives. If there are no objections-” As soon as this was said, a familiar voice catches Jungkook’s attention.
“I object!”
He whipped his head up in search of the owner of the voice. The minute he found it, his eyes grew wide as he stared in shock upon witnessing this discovery. There you stood, at the very top of the stairs in the courthouse right next to Taehyung. He knew he had to stop you but he didn’t. He wanted nothing more than for his best friend to be happy so he decided to let you do what’s right to get his best friend out of his misery.
“Who dares to go against our ruling?” The deity said, making you speak up bravely.
“I do.”
He whispered your name under his breath as he watched you descend the stairs while keeping your eyes locked on the higher authorities.
“And just who do you think you are? Strutting about and bravely make your call to stop this trial?”
“Someone that will stop you from carrying out his final punishment.”
“Ah… you must be the girl from the lake… You must be stupid enough to think that you could leave this place alive.”
“No! Please! I’m begging you, don’t hurt her please. Give me my final punishment, just leave her alone.” Jungkook said as he stood in front of you to shield you from them.
“What are you doing? Don’t you wanna remember who I am?” You asked in confusion as he turned to you with tears in his eyes.
“Of course I do. But I also want you to leave this place alive.”
“I don’t want you to forget me! I can’t lose you again. Jungkook please!”
“You won’t lose me. Because you remember me. Promise me that you’ll make me remember you.”
“I promise.”
With that, Jungkook cups your face with both hands as he pressed his forehead against yours softly. Your eyes were closed, feeling him caress your cheeks with his thumbs. Just then, you didn’t want to lose this chance so you pushed your head forward only to kiss him. You let your lips stay there for a while before pulling away. The minute you did, you wrapped your fingers around both of his wrists while you whispered against his lips, a sealed promise.
“I love you Jungkook and I promise I’ll make you remember me.”
Suddenly, everything happened so fast as a blinding white light began to fill your vision. The next thing you knew, you were in your bedroom. It all felt like a dream to you. Except, you remembered everything vividly.
The next day, you made your way to school, only to find Hyunjin and Jisung seated at the wooden table in the garden. You came over and soon asked them curiously about the other two. However, what they answered came as a surprise to you.
“Who’s Taehyung and Jungkook? Are they your friends?” Hyunjin asked, making you frown.
What the…
A few hours later, the three of you were walking to the CS building across the campus when you caught sight of two males walking in your direction, parallel to you.
Your heart began to race in your chest the closer you got to them. The minute you walked past them, with the purple haired one being the closest to you, the same feeling you felt the first time this happened a few months back repeated again today. The feeling of a string being tugged at that was invisibly linked to your hand and his, a small sense of longing lingers in your veins. However, you continued walking despite sensing him turning back to look at you.
So when you felt like it was safe to turn, that’s when you glanced over your shoulder to see him tilt his head in confusion but nonetheless continued walking. You whispered something under your breath, feeling your heart shatter with every word you say.
“I remember you.”
You turned back in front, your mind was already somewhere far. There was absolutely no way in hell that you were going to let this slide.
Why? Because you were determined to make him remember you for you had made your promise to him.

Milano's Trailer Breakdown Vol 1 Part Two
Tumblr media
Sigh. Props to Chris Pratt, he really does look like a man whose girlfriend came back from the dead just to kick him in the babymakers twice. That's simplified of course, but you get my point. He's so beautiful but he's married and I have my own hero IRL. In another life, Chris.
Tumblr media
I do find it interesting that Mantis is the one to share the wisdom that is staying true to your roots and not forgetting where you come from. I don't know her history - yet. Was she taken from her mother as a newborn baby? Do her species hatch from eggs? Was Ego always her home and family or did she have a life before? God, I can't deal with Mantis feels. Pom Klementieff just has this incredible, perfect delicate balance between soft, fragile innocent and steely badass for Mantis that I don't believe any other actress could duplicate.
Tumblr media
Oh hell no. Oh hell no. This was what I was both eagerly anticipating and dreading. Baby Rocket. Those ears! Soft fluffy baby raccoon fur!
Tumblr media
That motherfucker. I hate James Gunn. I just know that sadist picked out the cutest little baby raccoon he could find. I bet he had a big warehouse full of them and spent half of production choosing the cutest one just to torture us. That bastard.
Tumblr media
He looks like he's just had a flashback here. Background shows people, so I'm thinking he's in Knowhere, perhaps reminiscing? Whatever is going on, he looks sad. Once again, I am torn between hating and loving James Gunn for this.
Tumblr media
Who's the murderer? God knows but I think this must be the home or even breeding ground of the interdimensional beast that's coming up shortly. It's very similar to the creature itself.
Tumblr media
Gamora!!! I would kill to see what's on that Polaroid. I hope it's a family photo. She's so cool about whatever's on there. Zoe Saldana has a really cool storyline here - her other life had it all. Sister, family, boyfriend, a little tree baby, free from abuser. But that other self is dead, now there's a group of people who love you, but you just do not know them at all and one in particular is seriously broken up about it. And you're a good person, you're a kind person so you feel bad for him but you've been through enough crap that you need to protect yourself, even and especially if he loves you. Zoe's playing a different Gamora for sure, but as always, she's just so perfect for the character.
Tumblr media
See that wistful, yet focused look? Whatever was in that photo, Gamora longs for. My guess is, this is around the midway point of the movie, where she starts to make peace with what's gone on and maybe reconsiders Quill.
Tumblr media
God this cracks me up. Nebula carrying Peter like he's a kid who is fell asleep in the car, Cosmo trotting eagerly along, Mantis distractedly staring around...
Tumblr media
And let's not forget Rocket's smoothie. On a more serious note, it's sad that they're acting like Quill getting blackout drunk is completely normal. Which it most likely is due to the everything that went on.

Supernatural season 13
I've heard of the widower arc that takes place during the early part of this season but geez
Dean looks so depressed – the desolation, the hopelessness. Poor Dean Bean, lost his angel yet again. You can't help but feel for the poor guy (for now…)

Then the instant 180, uno reverse this man takes in his demeanor. He's so happy Cas is back. AND having a big cowboy adventure! They're spoiling this man after the widower arc. Jack & Sam are not down for it but Dean's been so miserable they shut the fuck up.
Dean swallowing deeply when Cas quotes Tombstone – confirmation they have movie nights together (ALONE??????) if they were alone during these movie nights – they're basically dating w/o clarifying that they are actually dating – and they're coparenting, my goodness! The domestication is real!
We later find out Dean snuck a quick shot of Cas in the little cowboy hat he made him wear for the case. Wow.
Tumblr media
But as a side note - I did NOT appreciate how shitty Dean was to Jack. He was basically abusing him verbally like WTF give the kid a damn chance - don’t make death threats to the newborn child that was literally born yesterday like the fuck #jackdefensesquad. Like anything bad that jack actually does, he’ll think back to the moments where Dean was like ‘oh he’s a monster’ ’when you go dark side, I’ll be the one to kill you’ yeah like maybe that’s what pushed him to that point. It’s no surprise Jack chooses to leave. My ass would’ve been gone. Also was Cas made aware of the threats Dean made to Jack???
They’re making it REALLY HARD to like Dean this season. MoC was bad, Demon!Dean too but evil forces were at work. This time he got no excuse — threatening at 16 yr old girl who has no one in her corner. They’re basically forcing her to help them for nothing in return. Unbelievable 🤬 And Sam, wtf? Would it kill you to stand up to your fuckin’ brother!
Anyway - Jack’s power is totally cool though.
Kaia…was killed by an alternate self? Whaaaaaat?
So this was the season they tried for the Wayward Girls? Shame it didn’t work out…like the premise is cool BUT since the main show barely give the women characters the time of day, is it any wonder that a pilot didn’t work? The showrunners only seem good with moments - but no building up of the narrative like the male counterparts AKA main cast. Also - what would be the conflict - give people a reason to keep watching the girls - their storylines seem more or less resolved - Jody has already mourned the loss of her family, its not like she became Batman or something to fight a war against criminality. Claire has also gotten past the loss of her parents (as far as we know but honestly she should’ve been part of the main narrative as her life had been directly affected by Castiel’s actions and we all know why Cas bothers to get up in the morning…anyway), Donna doesn’t seem to have anything going on - she’s divorced but over it, Alex is over her dark past, Patience is just seeming to get a hand of her abilities - like where are the stakes??? Sam and Dean had a whole quest to embark on, then they had to navigate fraternal relationship while fighting monsters all the time, slowly unraveling an overarching narrative that’s taken over their lives. Where’s that for the ladies????
I spoke too soon - Donna’s niece gets kidnapped and Doug is her boyfriend (wow totally forgot about that guy, certainly didn’t think he’d return) and once he gets turned into a vampire but cured of it, he’s done. Before he leaves Donna, he calls her a hero. Honestly, if I ended up having a partner/lover who killed dangerous supernatural creatures, I wouldn’t leave them. I’d stick by them and have them teach me a few things. Oh well. Maybe Donna will run to Jody to have a shoulder to cry on ;) I know y’all JodyxDonna shippers are out there.

Scoobynatural was fucking legendary! I loved watching Scooby doo as a kid, from when they were literal babies, to the OG episodes, to the revamp from the early 2000s, all the movies! (Zombie Island was the best!). It was a genuine delight watching the Winchesters (and Cas) cross paths with Mystery Inc. makes me wish they met Buffy and Ash from Evil Dead. That would’ve been awesome! Watching Dean say scooby dooby doo was total cringe tho :/ I love that Cas shut him down 🤣🤣
That ascot though? He’s wearing it all wrong, its supposed to be stuffed in, like how Fred wears it. And certainly not worn with plaid. SMH…
But now I totally want Supernatural as a fucking cartoon! Just like Scooby Doo - it would’ve been fucking glorious, Dean’s unhinge-able jaw, the kooky facial expressions, the comedic effects, and who knows, it would’ve given the show-runners the artistic freedom to reveal the true form of angels, namely, Castiel’s. Oh well.
Tumblr media
Donatello is…dead? I know they said Brain dead but after Amara sucked out his soul and Cas fucked up his brain, isn’t he better off dead? Par for the course for a prophet though, sucks for him.
Funny how Rowena suddenly wants to be the good mom and try to bring her demon son back after CENTURIES of chances. Sure she may not have known what became of Fergus since she left him, but I’m sure it wouldn’t have taken much to find out. She just didn’t want to. Now she’s filled with regret. And Sam’s destined to murder her? And she didn’t take him out? Okay, well then I guess it’s only a matter of time until she dies😒 not this season though, she’s too useful with her witchy powers to be killed off until she serves whatever purpose is convenient 😒
Angels are almost extinct :( I know they’re meant to be seen as controlling jerks but so is Dean XD lol anyway that’s a bummer with devastating consequences cuz if there’s no angels - they said all the souls will fall to Earth and become ghosts - billions in number - yeah. If it were me I would’ve just said the souls disappear but it ain’t my show 🤷🏽‍♀️
Naomi is back and I don’t even care - I’m sorry but I just don’t care about Apocalypse world either, I feel like it’s a grand waste of time. The fact that Charlie and Bobby are there doesn’t even matter cuz it’s not them. It’s not the Charlie and Bobby we got to know before. They’re just counterparts of another world, echoes of the fallen. When Dean says I can’t lose you, dude you literally just met her. And they’re expected to what, abandon the world they were born into? The fuck?
And fuck this show for killing Kevin TWICE!!! Kevin you were too precious for this universe/multiverse, whatever.
ketch is the latest (aside from rowena) of former villains/enemies/antagonist in supernatural that's suddenly we're supposed to be sympathetic towards since they switch sides and help the winchesters for a change but what's the reason??? I feel it's a little out there that Dean especially would let ketch live after what he put his mom through but whatever. since the show runners insisted with this whole apocalypse world crap, Dean would have died without ketch's help 😑
Gabriel has returned…only to die…again…awesome. at least he got to fuck rowena before he passed away 🤣😅
Tumblr media
Luci got fucked over hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahaha
Bobby x Mary, oh man John would be roaring in his grave…if he had one 🤣 [got burned to ashes in season 2], Bobby finna take his whole family, first his sons now his wife ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Luci resurrected someone? And nothing bad happened? Now tht’s a twist. I figured since he’s Satan she’d turn into a demon or something, but i guess not cuz we’re definitely not gonna see her again…
You know since I’ve seen The Boys I can see a resemblance between homelander and the devil, they both blow up in anger very similarly. When jack tells Luci, you’re not my father, he raged in a way that was eerily like Homelander would’ve. Just thought I’d point that out…
Tumblr media
Dean lets in Alt-Michael - Oh Lord above its the apocalypse all over again (this was a cool shot though) - meanwhile what’s OG Michael doing? Is he still in the Cage with Adam? Really? You had to bring an extra Michael into this nonsense? Ok 🙄 You know if Luci had possessed Sam too, it would’ve been a wrap!
Jack is powerless…for now? This poor kid was gonna kill himself?! Honey why? Ugh I’m blaming Dean for this. He put the seed in that kid’s head he was nothing but trouble and he was going to sacrifice himself, poor baby!
Cas why would you let Dean go?!?! Too sad to follow him into battle after Dean let Alt-Michael in?
Why can’t Sam get a super powerful Big Bad kill huh? Why is it always Dean? Geez.
So the only good things to happen this season were Scooby Doo and Jack meeting Cas. Ugh, their meetup was soo cute ^_^
Tumblr media
Welp only 2 seasons left, the last that’s over 20 episodes. Which means we only have 40 episodes to go til the end…goodie 😅

Sometimes I can just never understand the hate that Beth receives from the GA. I’m always reading posts and comments about how Beth was a useless character or a brat or whatever, but they don’t really understand how important her character is. We don’t even have to view this in a Bethyl way—even if she did cause Daryl to burn down his past and become the character we all love and know now. Beth was just the epitome of good and hope and yeah even if she was a tinyyyy bit stubborn with getting a drink, she was able to drag Daryl out of his catatonic state and change him for good. Also hello—she was literally a surrogate mother for Judith and that was an extremely important role she had to play but she NEVER gets credit for it. She saved Carol at the hospital too and we all know just how much the GA cherishes Carol, yet the GA still calls Beth useless. Idk, it’s a bit frustrating and it’s so obvious people hate her mainly because she was paired with Daryl and like, kinda stole his heart..lol.
I have so many responses to this, lol. First of all, obviously I totally agree with you. I loved everything you said here.
The thing is, I don't think most of the GA hated Beth or still does. I think it was mostly the other shippers, especially the Carylers. For exactly the reasons you said: it was obvious they were setting up a Bethyl romance and that really threatened the other ships. Even though many of those shippers are very loud online, they truly are a minority. Most the GA either really liked Beth and Daryl together or at least didn't hate her. A lot of them probably had a meh-whatever-as-long-as-Daryl's-happy mentality about it. But again, they didn't hate her. It just seems like it's a lot of people because the online shippers are so loud about their beliefs.
As to her getting a drink, people's reaction to that has always bothered me. Because we've seen similar storylines with other characters. Maybe not the drink exactly, but what she did here to deal with her grief wasn't terribly different than Rick going to crazy town for a minute after Lori died. People might possibly wonder why Rick was like...frolicking with the butterflies in the yard when his family--including a newborn--needed him. But no one really said anything like that. And then there's Daryl in Find Me, who was so depressed for months and months that he hung out with the woods and didn't go back and see his family at Alexandria or the other communities for the better part of 2 years. Why doesn't anyone criticize him for that?
And don't get me wrong. I'm not being critical of either of our favorite heroes here. It's called trauma, people, and everyone deals with it in their own way. Beth dealing with it by looking for a drink probably sprang from what had already been established about both her character and her family (Hershel was an alcoholic in his youth).
So, all I'm saying is, keep in mind that the people who hate on her for that and think she's useless are being extremely hypocritical and exercising a truly shocking double standard. And the truth is, that kind of hate comes way more from women in the fandom than men. Think about that.
Obviously I also agree with you about Beth's affect on Daryl. That's been well established in our fandom, and I don't think I need to go into too much detail about it here. (Plenty of other metas already written about that.) But even outside of Daryl and their magical dynamic together, Beth's own arc was so much more than the haters make it out to be.
It's funny that you mention her taking care of Judith. My fellow theorists and I have been talking about the storyline, mostly in Fear right now, though I think the Maggie/Negan spinoff will get wrapped up in the same thing, of the children being kidnapped. From the very beginning, we saw children and babies around Beth, and we firmly believe Beth will be a big part of that storyline.
And what that means, is that the writers didn't have Beth taking care of Baby Judith back in S4 just because it was convenient or because they didn't know what to do with her character. They did it, at least in S4 and on after Gimple took over, because they were already setting up an arc for her that is just now playing out.
I get that most of the GA doesn't know or see that. Even so, these two arcs--Beth taking care of children and now children being taken by the CRM, when it's so obvious Grady was connected to the CRM--are so clearly linked over time. Believing that Beth was nothing more than a "babysitter" is severely short-sighted.
I could probably say more, but I'll stop there. Thanks for your thoughts, Nonny! As I said, heartily agree! Xoxo! 🍀💕

10/27/23: r/SketchDaily theme, "Drawlloween: Got My Mind On My Mummy/Free Draw Friday." Drawlloween theme, Oct. 27: "Got My Mind On My Mummy."
...
This week's character from my anthro WWII storyline is Ilse von Dobermann. She's Louis Dobermann's (he drops the "von") mother, and a baroness. She and the rest of his family die of the flu long before the main story takes place. She's the opposite of Louis, a social butterfly whereas he's quite solitary and ill at ease in public, though she tries hard to understand him. Dobermann later gives his daughter Adelina the middle name Ilse. There'll be more about her later in my art Tumblr and Toyhou.se (she's already featured in his Tumblr entry).
Regarding her design, she's a fawn-and-tan doberman pinscher. I'm iffy on her hair; it's supposed to be kind of a pompadour as this part of the story is the late 1800s/early 1900s.
TUMBLR EDIT: Well, glad I checked Louis Dobermann's entry to refresh my memory, because it turns out the info I gave about Ilse von Dobermann is in Katharina von Thiel's entry instead. Oops! Anyway, Katharina's story goes into a good amount of detail regarding the personality differences between mother and son, and how Ilse is the only member of the von Dobermann family to really put any effort into understanding where her younger son is coming from, and in lieu of that, at least trying to make accommodations for their differences. The von Dobermanns--father Rudolf, his brother Ewald, mother Ilse, and older son Horst--are loud, cheery, sociable--except for younger son Louis--he's the exact opposite of all his relatives, being quiet, overly serious and stoic, and reserved to the point of appearing asocial and standoffish. Everyone gets the wrong first impression of him, that he's a disinterested snob who thinks he's better than everyone else and looks down his nose at everyone. As an adult dealing with the Nazi regime, this appearance serves him well. For much of his younger life, Ilse is there to make excuses and offer explanations for his behavior. He has to learn rather early on how to deal without her...then Inga comes along.
Let's back up now.
Freiherr (Baron) Louis Ludwig von Dobermann (yes, he's basically named Louis, twice) is born slightly before the turn of the 20th century (circa 1897, I believe) to Junkers Freiherr Rudolf and Freifrau (Baroness) Ilse; Ilse briefly panics following the delivery, as the baby doesn't cry. The midwife (Louis is born at home) reassures her it's a healthy baby boy, and he makes a small disgruntled noise and wiggles when presented to her so she knows it's true, though it's just so bizarre to her that he isn't squalling--his older brother Horst certainly screamed up a storm when HE was born. Still, aside from his refusal to carry on like any other newborn, he's perfectly normal, and she croons over him as he nurses. Rudolf wants to name him Ludwig. Ilse had agreed on this name for a son, but now that he's here she has second thoughts. "He doesn't look or sound like a Ludwig," she muses; "I think he's a Louis." The parents agree to a compromise of sorts, and the baby is given two variants of the same name--the implication is that he'll be referred to by his middle name, Ludwig, yet it never sticks. He becomes Louis von Dobermann.
Ilse has always been a social butterfly. She's extremely charming and outgoing, making friends with everyone, able and willing to carry on extended conversations about anything, knowing all the right things to say. It doesn't hurt that the von Dobermanns are rich as hell; they're the last of their line, but their family money has gone a long way, and they not only live very comfortably on their big old estate, but have more than enough to give freely to others as suits them. Rudolf and Ilse decide early on on a life of charity to go along with their social life; while money goes a long way toward greasing wheels and influencing people (and the von Dobermanns aren't above making use of it so), they do also genuinely believe in helping others. They definitely aren't coming from any position of knowing what it's like to be in need; they've been pretty well set all their lives (Ilse came from a noble family herself before marrying into the von Dobermann family). It just feels good to do good and to be liked. Although they're old country folk, most of their charity goes to the nearest city; the result is that the city folk adore them, and they're frequently invited to social events and parties. Rudolf's brother Ewald and Louis's brother Horst like the positive attention just as much. The von Dobermanns are often to be found mingling with the grateful city folk or, closer to home, visiting with their neighboring Junkers, including the von Thiels. Then Louis is born.
Ilse starts to realize her younger son is different in more ways than just the one. Unlike Horst, who joins the other children in running around, playing pranks and games and chattering, he tends to stay near Ilse, lurking behind her dress, then, after she urges him to go off on his own, he takes to sitting at the sides of the rooms, always near a window or a door; it takes Ilse a while to understand Louis is always near an escape route. He doesn't approach the other children; he doesn't join in their play. Whenever one approaches him first, he responds, if only to be polite (as he was taught), but when invited to play, he seems unsure what to do; a few times he does try, but always ends up standing off to the side awkwardly before being ignored and left on his own anyway. Eventually he just shakes his head and draws in on himself when asked to play, then he stops being asked altogether.
Ilse's heart breaks seeing her son grow more isolated with each outing. He looks miserable sitting by himself, yet the few times he's made to go interact with others, he seems even more resentful. Oddly, he gets along better with adults than with children, but still mostly stays to himself. Not wanting to force him, yet also not wanting him to be lonely, she takes him out for walks in the countryside sometimes, teaching him the names of the flowers, the trees, the insects, the stars. He responds to this much better than to the one time he goes on a hunting outing with Rudolf, Ewald, and Horst; while Horst cheers to shoot his first bird, Louis can't even take a shot, his eyes big and wet and his lip trembling although he doesn't cry. Ilse decides he prefers life to death, and she appears to be right. Rudolf expresses mild concern at first: "Do...do you suppose he's soft, a Muttersöhnchen...?" Ilse pooh-poohs the idea: "I think he just likes nice things rather than guts and blood. Can you blame a child for not wanting to get his hands dirty if he can help it...? Perhaps he'd rather paint a picture than skin a rabbit, do you think...?"
Louis turns out to not be particularly artistic or passionately creative, either, though Ilse can tell he has deep feelings, he just keeps them to himself; he doesn't seem to dislike people, just seems painfully self-aware when dealing with them. He does take comfort in books, and in the stories Ilse tells him. He enjoys hearing and reading tales of the old history of the country, and while he never puts much stock in the traditional fairytales and legends like many children do, he still likes being told them. In particular, he's drawn to the history of his own family and people and where they came from, what they long ago did. He's fascinated by the old family tree and genealogies Ilse digs out and shows him, of their distant connections to long-ago nobles and royalty. Horst had never shown any such interest, so Ilse enjoys these more introspective moments she gets to spend with her younger son.
She takes him on a walk one winter evening while the others have gone on another hunt, heading off in the opposite direction so their chances of running into each other are small. She notices how Louis flinches at the distant echoes of gunshots, and gently touches his shoulder. "Are you disappointed in me...?" he murmurs, to which she replies, "Stern meines Herzens, I could never be disappointed in you. You have your own path to take...if it's not the same as theirs, then so be it. There's no shame." She leads him to a clearing and points upward, telling him to look. Colors glow and swirl in the darkening sky.
Louis: "What is it...?"
Ilse: "The Northern Lights. The scientists call it the aurora borealis."
Louis: "What makes it do that?"
Ilse: "No one's quite sure yet. The scientists have their theories; maybe someday one of them will finally figure it out." *pause* "There are old stories though, folk stories, that try to explain them."
Louis: "Folk stories...?"
Ilse: "An old story says the lights are the souls of our ancestors, those who've left us...on dark nights when it's still...they come out to look down at us, and let us know they still watch over us...and they like when we look up at them, so they wear their finest clothes, and they dance a waltz. See...?"
For a while, mother and son gaze at the aurora, comparing the lights to themselves--a flashy, rapidly moving light is Horst, for example, while a more muted, steadier light off to the periphery is Louis--before heading home to meet the others following their hunt.
Over the years, Ilse learns how to better handle Louis's social sensitivities to help him maintain his boundaries without feeling excluded, though she does make a false step here and there, such as when she conspires with Frau von Thiel in hopes of setting Louis up with her daughter, Katharina; turns out Louis and Katharina are merely good friends without any romantic feelings for each other, and Ilse learns the hard way that you can't force romance, and if you try to push someone like Louis they just stubbornly double down on their standoffishness. The humiliating fallout of this incident is outlined HERE; Ilse apologizes for her mistake, though Louis's fatalistic response that perhaps he's just meant to be alone, and nothing can change that, makes her heart hurt. She hopes that he's wrong about that, at least.
Louis and Katharina do grow closer, but merely in a brotherly/sisterly fashion, following the loss of Katharina's family in a fire; the von Dobermanns take in Katharina and her remaining help staff and she and Louis become nearly inseparable as he helps her through her grief. Ilse notices how often, Louis makes his best points without even saying a word; he's a skilled listener, and often that's all that's needed to resolve an issue. Katharina, in turn, seems to understand and accept his need for distance from others; she encourages him to accompany her when she socializes, yet never pushes him into interacting when he doesn't wish to. Ilse learns a few things watching the two teenagers at the occasional large Junker gatherings where the noble families reestablish old ties and forge new ones. When Katharina is present, Louis finally moves away from his corners and his spots near exits; she seems to lend him courage he otherwise lacks. Ilse worries sometimes that he'll become too dependent on Katharina's influence, though as it turns out, that never has a chance to happen.
Katharina eventually semi-parts ways with the von Dobermanns, returning to her nearby home (she's their closest neighbor) once the fire damage is fixed; she declines their offer to stay with them indefinitely, insisting that, as the last von Thiel, it's time for her to grow up and accept her place. Ilse notices a subtle shift in Louis's attitude after Katharina leaves; he grows even quieter and more introspective, spending much of his time browsing the old family records or staring out the windows across the von Dobermann land. Ilse of course mistakes this for sadness over Katharina's departure from the household, yet when she tentatively asks him about it, he insists he's fine and he's not upset about her leaving, though he does admit that it's gotten him thinking about things. Ilse gently asks what he means. It's a little while before Louis replies, obviously choosing his words very carefully: "I've just been wondering, what is my place, my role in the family. She found hers, though she had no real choice. I have a choice...yet I'm not sure what it is." Ilse asks if there's anything she can do to help; Louis declines, though he makes sure she knows it isn't anything personal: "I think this is something I have to find out on my own." He reassures her she has nothing to worry about; whatever he decides, he'll be fine. He pauses before adding, "You helped me get here." He never makes such comments lightly, so Ilse is touched that he said it at all, and she gives him his space.
Horst returns breathless from a visit to the city one day, face pale and newspaper in hand; he unfolds it to show the others seated in the parlor. The Archduke of Austria has been assassinated. "It's all everyone in the city is talking about," he says as they peruse the paper in shock. "They think war could break out any day." Rudolf and Ewald start discussing plans to get the estate farm more operational and strengthen communication with the other Junkers so they won't have to deal with supply chain issues in the event of rationing, and they depart. Horst says he'll start reaching out to their neighbors for further news and also leaves. "Perhaps it's not so bad," Ilse tries to convince herself. "There's no war yet, maybe there won't be. Maybe cooler heads will prevail." Still, she suddenly doesn't feel well--"It must be this heat"--and lies down on the couch. Louis is left staring at the paper with a pensive look on his face. "Do you think it's a sign...?" he murmurs; "What...?" Ilse asks, but Louis just shakes his head. "Nothing," he replies.
Ilse is preoccupied with her thoughts for the next few days, and Louis doesn't make his plans known, so she's unaware of what he gets up to in the meantime. He spends a long night sleepless, staring at the canopy and thinking. He goes to visit Katharina, tells her the conclusion he's reached, and asks for her advice; she declines to give any, telling him that this is a decision he has to make on his own: "You won't always have someone there to help you decide." He then asks if she thinks he's foolish. "You're the least foolish person I know," she says, "which is how I know you'll make the right decision." She hugs him before he leaves, whispering in his ear, "You'd better write to me, or I'll track you down myself."
The next day, Louis asks Horst if he can borrow his car to drive into the city; he returns later that afternoon, seeming nervous but resolved. He tells his parents that he's enlisted in the army. They stare at him in silence for a moment, stunned; Ilse is of course the one to speak up first. "Louis," she exclaims, "the army...? You? But...you can hardly even pick up a gun. You haven't a violent bone in your body! You, a soldier--? How would you handle it? What would you do...?"
Even as she entreats him, she can see the stubborn look enter his eyes, and knows she's losing him. "Ilse," Rudolf says, touching her shoulder, "give him a moment to explain himself, ja? Let him speak." But also: "Louis. Are you sure of this...? This is a very serious decision, are you sure you've thought it through...?"
Ilse bites her tongue. Seeing that they're willing to let him explain, Louis does so. Ilse had reassured him that whatever path he chose would be his to take; well, this is the one. It's a longstanding custom for the younger son in Junker families to enter the army while the older son stays to carry on the family line; he feels he can do more good this way rather than sitting at home. He'd already been pondering this option in the days following Katharina's return to her home (thus all his poring over the old family records, reading the accounts of all the soldier-ancestors who'd gone before), but the news Horst brought finally decided him. Louis isn't typically a superstitious sort, he's pretty agnostic, but this dreadful news arriving when it had seemed almost like a sign. He'd watched Katharina grow up and move on on her own, taking responsibility for her own life and forging her own path; well...now it's time for him to do the same.
Rudolf offers no argument. Ilse desperately wants to, yet knows it'll do no good; she's never seen him so certain of anything in his life, and the irony is that she's the one who taught him this. Sensing that they need the time, Rudolf excuses himself to go inform Horst and Ewald, leaving mother and son alone. There's a long silence.
Louis: "You're disappointed."
Ilse: *wearily* "Nein...not disappointed, mein Stern."
Louis: "It's childish, but I'd hoped you would be proud of me."
Ilse: "I am, Louis, I'm always proud of you, you know that."
Louis: "Yet you don't seem so, now."
Ilse: "It isn't that. I just...I wish you'd found some other way."
Louis: "What other way? This is the way."
Ilse: "But how do you know--? How can you be sure--?"
Louis: "How can you ever be completely sure of anything? If I sit around waiting for the answer to come without any doubt, I'll be sitting forever. Sometimes, you have to take a leap. You have to face what you don't know. Katharina did."
Ilse: *exasperated* "Katharina!"
Louis: "And you, you'll tell me you never once took a risk--? Your whole life has been facing what you don't know, unafraid. Horst's life, Vater, Uncle Ewald. You've all gone through life unafraid. When I was little you tried to convince me to do the same. And now when I do, you ask me to find some other way...?"
Ilse: "Liebe, we've NEVER gone through life unafraid. To do so is foolish! We were afraid but acted anyway, in spite of it."
Louis: "And that's exactly it. Maybe I don't know everything I'm getting into, but I'm doing it anyway. That's how you move forward, ja? At some point, every ancestor took a leap."
Ilse: "Not every ancestor! Some didn't fight. Some started families."
Louis: "Starting a family is a leap. It takes courage. Doesn't it?" *Ilse is silent* "That doesn't look like the path that's open to me. And I accept that. Horst can take that path, if he wishes. He's the eldest; the family line goes through him. This, this is my path. I've thought it through. I'm afraid, ja, I admit it. But you just said. It's foolish to go through life completely unafraid. Just as foolish as letting the fear keep you stuck in one place. You told me to find my own path. I think I've found it. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But how else am I supposed to find out...?"
Ilse: *long silence, eyes downcast* "My heart aches, Louis, wondering how you're going to handle it. You're not a soldier. Taking up a gun seems to be against everything you stand for."
Louis: "I don't even know what I stand for, aside from our family. But if this is what it takes to keep you safe..." *trails off; they both look at each other* "You've all always watched over me. Now it's my turn to watch over you. If you were in my place, wouldn't you do the same?"
Realizing that Louis's choice has very little to do with nationalist pride, and everything to do with ensuring the family stays safe, Ilse has nothing left to say. She's heartbroken, but accepts his decision, understanding the role she herself played in him reaching it. He assures her not to worry about how he'll handle combat or even just the everyday experiences of interacting with his fellow soldiers: "I'll figure it out, you prepared me for that." The whole family accompanies him to the train station to see him off; Ilse presses a small gold ring into his hand although he protests, "Mutter, a woman's ring--?" "To remind you," she explains; "to remind you to come home to us." She embraces him--"I'm so proud of you, always," she whispers so only he can hear--then stands back with Rudolf's hand on her shoulder and tears in her eyes as Louis boards the train. He peers out the window at them and holds his hand up to the glass; the rest of the von Dobermanns raise their hands to wave goodbye, and Ilse's eyes finally spill over as the train carries her baby boy away to training.
A month later, Germany goes to war.
Ilse agonizes over the papers. These are the only real means of updates, and they're of course always out of date by the time they hit the shelves. She--and Katharina--practically fall upon the first letters Louis sends them from the Western Front. Surprisingly, he finds himself quite suited to military discipline; although he still isn't big on socializing, he handles group interactions well, as long as he has his orders and knows what he's expected to do. He hasn't seen any real combat yet, though he expects that to change soon. He's about as terse in writing as he is when speaking, so the letters aren't especially lengthy, though both women cherish any word they can get from him. Ilse tells herself to prepare for very long waits in between communications, and tries her hardest to be patient and keep herself busy in the meantime; this includes tending to the plants in the household's solarium. Louis always loved the solarium, especially the large ash tree at its center, extending up through the different stories of the house. Ilse hopes for the war to end and Louis to return soon so they can wander among the greenery again.
The Great War drags on for four long years. Louis never has the chance to return home even for a brief visit; despite Ilse's and his own doubts, he repeatedly proves himself and quickly rises through the ranks, becoming a Hauptmann, or captain. This leaves him little free time, meaning he sends fewer letters as well. Ilse has the impression that the war is wearing on him but he doesn't wish to complain; she reassures him in her own, more frequent letters, which he lets her know he appreciates, even if he can't always respond. She still can't help but worry about him, but she's exceptionally proud of his accomplishments, especially when she remembers the way he flinched at the mere sound of gunshots on the hunt so long ago. "My baby boy has grown up," she murmurs to Rudolf as they sit in the parlor reading his latest letter.
Horst and Ewald continue their visits to the city for news. Ewald is dull and listless following one visit, and heads to bed early. He develops a fever, then a cough. Shortly after, Rudolf, who hadn't been to the city, comes down with the same symptoms. Horst and Ilse put them both to bed and tend to them, their alarm slowly growing as members of the help staff and farm start falling ill in quick succession. Ilse, sleeping separately from Rudolf now, wakes one morning with a distinct chill and knows that whatever it is, she's caught it, too. She still feels well enough to get around, though, and they're starting to run short handed, so she and Horst keep seeing to the others. They put on cloth masks while doing so, casting each other fearful looks; the papers, upon Horst's and Ewald's last visit, had been reporting on some sort of nasty bug making the rounds, but they hadn't had any reason to think it would make its way out here. Ewald got sick so very fast.
Ewald's and Rudolf's health deteriorates rapidly; they can hardly stop coughing, and keep gasping for breath. Ilse develops a cough too, and Horst calls a doctor they know. He says he can't come out to the estate--the illness is already tearing through the city, and they need all the help they can get--so if they need to see him, they'll have to come back to the city. Katharina stops by; Ilse has a member of the help staff inform her through the door that nobody's well enough to see her, and they don't want her getting sick as well, so she heads back home. Ilse hopes that they can simply recover at home, but while tending to the others she notices the flush in Horst's face and presses her hand to his forehead--"You're burning up!" she exclaims in alarm--and finally decides they have to head to the city. Horst, still the best off of the four of them, insists on driving them there, and they manage to bundle the coughing and wheezing Rudolf and Ewald into the back seat. He promises the chief of the help staff he'll return as soon as he can to pick up the staff members in the worst shape and transport them to the city as well; helps his gasping mother into the front passenger seat; then speeds off toward the city as fast as the car can go.
It takes over an hour to reach the city and the hospital, which is alarmingly busy with scores of hacking, blue-lipped patients. Ilse frets that they'll never get help but Horst manages to locate the doctor, frantically directing him to the car--"My Vater, my uncle, they're dreadfully ill, my Mutter isn't doing so well, bitte, help them"--then collapses. All four of the von Dobermanns are carried inside on stretchers, only Ilse half conscious by now, and put to bed. Ilse swims in and out of consciousness for a time before she awakes, hot and cold and coughing, struggling to breathe. All that happened suddenly hit her all at once and the force of the realization woke her. She asks where her family is, what's going on.
The doctor, wearing a mask, fills her in: She and her entire family have caught the flu. "Flu--?" Ilse gasps, confused. This doesn't feel like any flu she's ever had before. Additionally, the doctor informs her, Ewald, Rudolf, and she have developed pneumonia. As for Horst, he doesn't have pneumonia, but the virus seems to have hit him quickest and hardest of all; his blood pressure has plummeted, his fever has skyrocketed, and he's delirious. None of it makes any sense to Ilse--it's just the flu, all of them are healthy, especially Horst, all he had was a fever, he drove them there, how did this happen so fast--? The doctor starts to explain that this is an especially awful flu that's been sweeping through the army and multiple countries; unlike other flus, it seems to be targeting younger, healthy people like Horst, turning their own immune responses against them. There have been multiple reports of people waking up with a slight cough...and dropping dead by nightfall. Normally, this would be more than enough to alarm Ilse and make her demand to see Horst...but partway through the doctor's explanation she starts swooning, and again loses consciousness.
Then, deep in her fever dreams, her lungs heavy, she finds herself swimming through smoke--flails her arms to try to clear it away so she can breathe--and instead of a hospital room, she's standing in a watery trench, surrounded by skeletal trees, mud, and barbed wire. A soldier so covered in mud and dirt and blood that only his eyes are still white blinks at her, confused--"Mutter?" he says--and Ilse gasps herself awake before breaking down coughing. The doctor and nurses appear, grasping at her arms when she flails and tries to pull herself out of the bed. What the doctor had said earlier--about the illness sweeping through the army--finally hits home. She can't remember the last time she got a letter from Louis.
"My boy!" she gasps. "My baby boy...where's my boy? Where's my son?" "He's here," the doctor reassures her. "He's in another room. In another bed. He's here." But Ilse shakes her head--"Nein, nein, that can't be, my baby boy is in the army! Where is he?--where's my son...?" She wants to tell them--she's not talking about Horst, she's talking about Louis--her baby boy, in the army--where is he, is he sick too, or is he safe?--she hasn't gotten a letter in ages, is he sick?--is he well?--can they find him? She doesn't want him to return home and not know where everyone is. She can't bear for him to be all alone. She can't form the words to say all this, though, as the coughing and then the fever set back in. "Poor woman is delirious, she thinks her son's in the army," she dimly hears the doctor murmur, and, realizing that they have no idea she even has another son--that's right, he always kept to himself, he's easily forgotten--she wants to yell, Louis, Louis, Louis!--where is my Louis?...but is too far gone to do so. She loses consciousness yet again.
Ewald dies first, then Rudolf, both of them coughing and drowning in their own lungs. Horst goes next, the cytokine storm too much for his body to handle. Ilse holds on as long as she can, still crying for Louis--"My baby boy, my baby boy is in the army"--before the flu takes her as well. Within days of entering the hospital, in the blink of an eye, the von Dobermann family is snuffed out. The chief of the help staff, heartbroken, sends out a telegram and a letter which he expects will get nowhere, as the war grinds to an end and Germany surrenders and the army is thrown into chaos; all that's left is for those who are left behind to mourn the dead. A pall settles over the von Dobermann estate; the world slowly, wearily trudges on.
And then, one day weeks later, the hospital director and the mayor receive telegrams: Massive monetary donations have been sent to the hospital and the city, to help combat the pandemic. The telegrams bear the name L DOBERMANN.

Hip Hip Cartoons!
Huge glistening eyes, brightly shaded hair, obscure nose and exaggerated facial foundation expression jogs my memory of just one single thing. Are you able to guess what it truly is? If your solution is Anime, then BINGO, you just read an otaku's intellect! Anime (pronounced: "Ah-nee-may") is known as a type of animation usually via Japan. They may have their own design and style and it can show that during strange and wonderful techniques. Anime also provides its own sensation of comedic and has a specialized way of thinking. It could possibly get seriously deep and serious, as well as it can become silliest (like: "Lucky Star", "Kill Me Baby") and hectic (like: "Death Note", "Gintama") thing you have ever seen. Most Anime shows derive from popular mangas (Japanese Comics), just putting a little more lifestyle into all of them. Anime sometimes covers worse topics when compared to typical shows. In America, cartoons are considered a sort of entertainment intended for children. In Japan, many people coming from all ages (no, not newborn baby babies! ) watch cartoons. Most shows and movies happen to be centred for childrens, adolescent or perhaps young adults, yet there are also various anime that are made for more aged crowd sometimes businessmen and housewives! The word "Anime" is a abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" in Nippon, where this kind of term work references all animation. Outside Japan, anime is required to refer specifically animation from Japan or maybe Japanese disseminated animation trend often seen as colourful images, vibrant personas and imaginary themes. Japanese people animation started out in twentieth century. Katsudo Shashin is usually claimed as the earliest Western animation. The 1923 Nice Kanto earthquake resulted in wide-spread destruction which include demolition of earliest Anime Studios and anime gets results; leaving Kouchi's Namakura Gatana as the oldest surviving computer animation. The primary anime tv series was Otogi Manga Work schedule aired by 1961 to 1964. My own introduction to anime was in elegance four as i watched "City Hunter" within a T. Sixth v. channel, Animax. Though I could see anime (as a matter of fact the plural in anime can be anime) just like "Doraemon", "Shinchan", "Avatar-The last airbender", "Summer Days with Coo", "AstroBoy", "Dragon Ball-Z", "Naruto" long ago before but I did not realize the unique sense in anime when it was dubbed in Hindi (rather I would declare "contaminated" instead of "dubbed" by means of old, absurd male voices in Hindi who would crack unnecessary, slap-stick jokes deviating viewers in the plot and land you in a hotch-potch of indianised anime). My sister ( 3 years younger when compared to me nevertheless I won't admit jane is more mature as opposed to me) had taken strange affinity for Japanese anime like micron Tears to Tiara" and "Stigma with the Wind" shown in Animax: which I believed strange at that time as my own "patriotic inertia" would prevent me right from accepting not Indian solutions. I was first repelled by the fact that all of the voice casts were on Japanese also to understand the storyline I had to adopt trouble from reading the English subtitles together to coordinate the dialog with the video tutorial shown; for which great deal of focus was required. It was out of the question for me to carry out both those tiring assignments at the same time, thus i returned to my good old T. V. channels: Animation Network, Nickolodeans, Hungama, Pogo, Boomerang and Jetix. After https://youtube.com/channel/UC6D5Qb-rkuN9Dxr3qVIjEzg , in class seven, I once again started experiments my skills in understanding anime which turned into a success, when I first indulged through anime like "Hayate the Combat Butler" and "Fairy Tail". Also! Such a special poison! After having a whole hectic day in school, tuition, golfing classes, artwork and beats classes, and whole various heck number of activities; We waited just to sit back and relax to look at these cartoons. At that time, nothing at all mattered if you ask me; not even my parents, friends and teachers. In this virtual area of pleasure I was able to tackle my own defeats and sufferings simply because easily the time i had consumed successes. Nothing bothered all of us, except once i had to enroll in phone calls or to open door, if any sort of guest comes when the anime shows are ongoing. Yet , anime barely did change my studies as following watching two hour very long program, My spouse and i suffered from SAFEGUARDS (Post Cartoons Depression Syndrome) for which We suffered the guilt in wasting time period which was additional intensified simply by my mom's rebuke (I would like to identify this situation seeing that "Kata Ghaye nuun-er Chheta") and this guilt would catapult me to examine harder, focus and help longer time and this transpired as day to day routine for me; thus i could very easily outdo the vast majority of students specific studying or perhaps swimming or any type of other give good results. Thus to all guardians, I want to ask for to allow young kids to watch anime as it figured out for me (maybe I have odd wirings during my brain! ). Watching cartoons would definitely assist you to hone the literary, language and synthetic skills. Moreover, it would function as an astounding source of entertainment, at least technique beyond the league of daily American native soaps. Comprehending the culture in origin is very important to realize the plot, whether Japanese anime, Korean Aeni webtoons, Asian Manhua Cartoons or North american sitcoms (which I encountered when I was novice during watching anime). If you have enjoyed any cartoons, you will probably observe that the characters behave in another way and points in general (like houses, transport, eating etc . ) are bit unlike what you employed to. Probably the most conveniently apparent disparities between Japanese people animation and more is the art where enormous eyes (bigger than nose), brightly female hair, a bit of well-endowed characters and exaggerated emotional words and phrases and gestures are typical of cartoons. Being hand-drawn, anime is certainly separated out of reality featuring an ideal course for escapism into which audiences can easily immerse by yourself with general ease. The production of cartoons focusses much less on the toon movement and even more on the realism of settings like "The Garden from Words". The opening and credit sequences of most cartoons are accompanied by Japanese rock or put song which inturn maybe related to the anime series, by means of popular rings. "Nanairo Namida" by Tomato n' Pine of cartoons "Beelzebub" and "Just Awake" of cartoons "Hunter Populace Hunter" are a couple of my favourite anime songs, that you can try out. And there is several types of cartoons, one will need to classify them in different types, some of them are: Action, Music, Mecha, Grand adventure, Mystery, Bishounen, Yuri, Yaoi, Akuma, Seinen, Shoujo, Shounen, Kodomo, Portion of Lifestyle and many more. If you're a fabulous die-hard cartoons fan (such me generally labelled seeing that "otaku"), a casual watcher, an interested onlooker or commoner from non-anime domain: cartoons genres would certainly equip you with some basic knowledge to help you to venture the anime world effortlessly and satisfaction. I am going to share some remarkable quotes of anime which etched these heart happen to be: • Motoko Kusanagi in "Ghost inside Shell a couple of: Innocence" "We weep designed for blood of your bird but not for blood of a seafood. Blessed will be those with your voice. micron • Shinchi Akiyama from "Liar Game" "People Needs to be doubted. A lot of us misunderstand idea. Doubting persons is just a component to getting to know them. What a lot of us call "trust" is really merely giving up in trying to understand others which very work is far worse than doubting. It happens to be 'apathy'. very well • Hachiman Hikigaya in "My Youngster Romantic Comedy SNAFU" "If truth is harsh Then Are lying must be kind Then Closeness must be lie"

A/N: and here we are... the FINAL (temporarily anyway hehe) chapter of Fated! It’s a pretty bittersweet feeling since I grew so attached to this series, I don’t really want it to end, which is why I have plans to continue it with the next few seasons of the show! And I know that the gif I used for this chapter was from season 6... but it was so hard to find any gifs of Daryl smiling... which is sad :( ANYWAY, let’s go forth with the last chapter!!!
Chapter 10
Tumblr media
It was mid afternoon at the Hilltop, people were going about their lives and doing their chores around the community. Gloria lies in her bed with a tired smile as she watches Daryl cradle the newborn baby girl in his arms, cooing at their daughter she had just given birth to mere hours ago.
“Hey,” Gloria calls out as she sits herself up on the bed, “haven’t you hogged her enough?”
Daryl looks at her and scoffs playfully, “ya’ve had her for nine months, and ya say I’m hoggin’ her.”
“That’s not even the same thing! And for the record, I didn’t even know I had her for the first four months.” she argues with a pout.
“Tha’s yer fault.” Daryl replies with a smirk then looks down at the baby girl in his arms, “isn’t it? Hm?”
Gloria isn’t able to hide her smile as she sees Daryl talking to the baby, she then opens her arms in his direction, “can I at least get some affection from my husband then?”
Daryl looks at her and smiles at her words, he steps towards the bed as Gloria scoots to the side, making room for him to sit down. Cradling the baby in his arm, wrapping his other around Gloria who snuggles into him. She leans her head on his chest as she smiles down at their daughter.
“How did we make something so innocent and pure like her?” Gloria says softly, not wanting to wake up the sleeping girl.
“She gets all that from ya,” he says, pressing a kiss on Gloria’s forehead, “she wouldn’ be here if it weren’t for ya.”
“You say that as if you don’t know how babies are made,” she chuckles, making Daryl roll his eyes.
“I mean it,” he looks at her sincerely, “ya carried her for 9 months, yer body protected her, even from the Saviors and ya didn’t even know ya had her. If ya weren’t as tough and strong as ya are, she might not’ve made it.”
Gloria smiles at his words and brushes their daughter’s cheek gently with her finger, “I can’t take all the credit for that, she’s a little fighter too, I just did my role as a mother, even if I didn’t know it yet, my body for sure did.”
Daryl hums in agreement, “an’ I’ll protect ya both, like a dad’s supposed to.”
Gloria looks at Daryl at his words, “hey,” she calls out to him in a whisper as she caresses his face.
There was a sadness in Daryl’s voice and Gloria knew where it came from. She knew very well what kind of man Daryl’s father was and what he did to Daryl and Merle when they were kids.
“You’re gonna be such an amazing father, I can tell.” she says with a soft smile.
“Can ya?” he lets out a small chuckle.
Gloria nods, “just by the way you hold her, you’re a natural. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you had more experience, and I’m not just talking about Judith.”
“Hmm... maybe I do an’ jus’ never told ya.” Daryl teases with a smirk.
She eyes him playfully, “you’re lucky I love you.”
“You’re right, I am,” he says, pulling her in for a kiss, “I’m the luckiest man alive.”
Gloria giggles into his lips and kisses him back tenderly. Their kiss is interrupted by a knock on the door, the two pull away from each other as Maggie opens the door with a smile.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” she asks.
“Not too bad, given that I just popped a baby out of me,” Gloria says with a chuckle.
“Are you able to walk?” Maggie asks, “Carol’s downstairs with the others, if you’re too tired I can let them know.”
“I think I’ll be okay, I may need you to help me down the stairs though,” Gloria smiles.
Maggie chuckles and nods, going over to Gloria as she gets off the bed, “since you got attached, you hold onto her,” Gloria says to Daryl.
He scoffs playfully and gets off the bed as well, not denying that he did get attached to their daughter fairly quickly. The three of them make it out the room with Daryl carrying the little girl in his arms as they go down the stairs. Maggie gently holds onto Gloria as she takes each step and finally they’re on the ground floor. Gloria turns into what she considered the lobby of the Barrington house and she’s greeted by delighted smiles of people from Alexandria and the Kingdom. Carol is the first to go up to hug her.
“We came as soon as we heard it was happening,” she says as she pulls away from the hug, “how are you feeling?”
“Tired, exhausted, can’t wait to sleep,” Gloria says with a chuckle.
“I have some bad news for you then,” Rick says with a teasing smile, “you and Daryl aren’t gonna have a good night’s sleep for a while.”
“I don’ sleep much anyway,” Daryl mutters then turns his attention to their daughter who had woken up, “right? You’re gonna keep us up, aren’t ya?”
“I’ve never seen Daryl like that before,” Aaron says in awe as he watches the two.
“He was like that with Judith,” Michonne grins at the sight.
Daryl looks at the others who are staring at him, slight blush creeping on his cheeks, “what?”
Tara shrugs, “I just don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard you be so... gentle before?”
“Yeah, it’s amazing what kind of hold she has on you,” Rosita grins as she teases Daryl.
Eugene nods as he stands beside her, “I have to say, witnessing Daryl as amiable as he is right now is really a sight to behold.”
Daryl purses his lips and looks to Gloria for help and she chuckles as she shakes her head, “alright guys, that’s enough, you’re embarrassing him.”
“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, Daryl,” Ezekiel smiles warmly at him, “I believe what the others are trying to say is that you are a natural with your kin.”
“You’re a natural, dude!” Jerry chimes in cheerily.
“Thanks..” Daryl mutters, his face still a light shade of pink.
“So!” Jesus starts, clapping his hands together, “Have you two decided on a name for your little girl?”
His question turns their immediate attention to Daryl and Gloria, patiently waiting for their answer. They all look eager to chime in with suggestions if needed. Gloria smiles at this and glances at Daryl.
“Go ahead,” he says with a small smile.
Gloria nods then looks at the others, mainly focusing on Maggie and Carol, “we decided to name her Sophia Bethany Dixon.”
Grateful smiles light up Maggie and Carol’s faces as they hear the name given. Gloria lets out a breath of relief when they thank her with a deep hug. She and Daryl had discussed it when they found out they had a daughter. Gloria thought it was only fitting to name her after Sophia and Beth to honor the girls.
---
Sophia is now a few days old as Gloria places her in the crib beside Hershel’s. She’s finally drifted off to sleep after a crying fit. Gloria lets out a soft sigh then goes to check on Hershel and smiles at his little sleeping figure. She tucks them both in to make sure they’re sound asleep then leaves the nursery. She makes her way to Maggie’s office and knocks three times before opening the door.
“Hey Maggie-” Gloria says as she opens the door but cuts herself short when she doesn’t see her sister-in-law in the room.
Instead, she’s met by Jesus standing by the door, Rick leaning on the desk, Daryl sitting on one of the chairs placed along the wall, and Ezekiel and Aaron standing by the chairs facing the desk. Gloria blinks as they all turn to look at her.
“Everythin’ okay?” Daryl perks up when he sees his wife in the doorway as if he’s ready to ditch whatever conversation is going on.
“Yeah, I’m just looking for Maggie, wanted to let her know the kids are out,” Gloria smiles at him then glances around the room, “so what’s going on here?”
“Nothin’-” Daryl tries to speak but he’s interrupted by Rick.
“Shouldn’t she have a say in this?” Rick says, gesturing to Gloria.
Gloria furrows her brows in confusion, crossing her arms and leaning on the door, propping it open, “have a say in what?”
“We’re trying to decide who Sophia’s Godfather should be.” Aaron informs her.
“Godfather?” Gloria lets out a chuckle, amused, “let me guess, you all have amazing reasons for why we should pick you?”
“I’m a King!” Ezekiel exclaims.
“I saved your life,” Aaron reminds her.
“Daryl’s my brother.” Rick says matter-of-factly.
“Come on, you call me Jesus.” he says, giving Gloria a knowing look.
“Ya see what I had to deal with in the last hour?” Daryl groans.
She shakes her head as she lets out a laugh, “okay... Ezekiel, you’re gonna be too busy taking care of the Kingdom and looking after Henry. Aaron, as much as I am very appreciative of you saving my life, you have your hands full with Gracie, already. And Rick, being Daryl’s brother means you’re already her uncle. Plus, all of you are busy in your own communities anyway.”
Jesus looks at her with a grin, “does that mean I win?”
“I can’t say I don’t like calling you Jesus and being her Godfather. ” Gloria tells him.
As she speaks, the main door to the Barrington house opens and Maggie, Carol, Rosita, and Tara walk in. The women glance at each other as they see Gloria standing in the doorway of Maggie’s office, propping open the door with her body.
“What’s going on?” Maggie asks as she walks towards her office.
Gloria turns to look at Maggie, “the guys are fighting over who’s Sophia’s Godfather.”
“My bet’s on Jesus.” Tara chips in, “his name, it’s Jesus!”
“Thank you!” he exclaims from inside the room, then grins cheekily, “and you were about to name me Sophia’s Godfather before they walked in?”
“Well, no,” Gloria chuckles as he pouts, “I was about to say that you’re going to have to fight Carol on the Godparent position.”
Gloria had this conversation with the women before Sophia was born. Maggie and Gloria had an agreement that since they were directly Hershel’s and Sophia’s aunts, it wouldn’t be fair for the others to give each other the title. Maggie had appointed Tara as Hershel’s Godmother. Rosita was perfectly fine with being their aunt. Daryl was more than accepting of Carol being his child’s Godmother.
Rick, Jesus, and Aaron groan in disappointment, knowing that it was impossible to beat Carol in a fight, as Ezekiel grins happily, “oh glorious day! I have been named Godfather of the lovely Sophia Bethany Dixon! Haha!”
The others look at Ezekiel in confusion while Carol freezes at his words. Gloria glances over at Carol and notices her cheeks flushing a light pink. A grin spreads across Gloria’s face and her grin is noticed by the other women and they all turn to look at Carol. She looks at them nervously and fidgets, making the other women giggle.
“Congratulations, Carol.” Gloria chuckles, patting Carol’s arm.
She rolls her eyes playfully at her and smiles, “thank you, now if we can stop him from announcing it to the world, that would be nice.”
They laugh at her words as Ezekiel says his speech, announcing his relationship with Carol, earning a groan from her. Everyone except for Carol is immersed in Ezekiel’s poetic proclamation of love for her when a baby’s cry catches Maggie and Gloria’s attention.
“That’s Hershel,” Maggie says, instinctually heading towards the nursery, then a second cry can be heard.
“And he woke Sophia...” Gloria sighs as she follows Maggie into the nursery.
---
A few months have passed since Sohia was born. She is now able to sit up with some assistance as she plays in the nursery with Hershel beside her. Gloria sits on the other side of her in case Sophia loses her balance and falls. Maggie comes into the nursery with two bottles of formula and sits down on the ground beside her son.
“Here,” Maggie says, handing a bottle to Gloria, “just so they don’t whine when they’re hungry.”
She chuckles and nods, “thanks, we both know how impatient these two can get.”
Maggie smiles and hums in agreement as they watch their children. Hershel and Sophia were both busy playing with the toys in front of them. As the two of them reach for the same toy, Hershel reaches it first but lets go of it when Sophia grabs it and lets out a small whimper when she isn’t able to get it. Hershel watches her as she giggles when she is able to get the toy then he gently reaches over to her and pats her head. The sight of brotherly affection brings tears to Gloria’s eyes as Maggie smiles in awe at the two.
“Did you see that?” Maggie says, her voice full of delight.
Gloria nods, sniffling slightly as she tries to hold in her tears, “Yeah...”
Maggie looks over and her brows furrow in concern, “Gloria... what’s wrong? Talk to me.”
“Nothing... he just reminds me so much of Glenn...” she says with a soft tearful smile.
“There’s more to it than that,” Maggie reaches her hand out and holds Gloria’s, “there’s been something bothering you even before the war ended, don’t think I didn’t notice.”
Gloria looks at Maggie and sighs deeply, “I disappointed Glenn...”
Maggie frowns at this, “what makes you say that?”
“I let revenge, hate, and anger get to me, I killed a lot of people-” Gloria is cut off by Maggie.
“We were fighting a war, what did you expect?,” Maggie tells her.
“I became a cold hearted killer, Maggie...” Gloria lets out a breath, “I killed a lot of people on my own because I wanted all of the Saviors to die to avenge Glenn. I wanted them all dead so I did what I thought was right, I thought they were all bad people... but now I see they can be people we can even trust, like Alden, Laura... what if I killed people who didn’t deserve to die?”
“That’s the unfortunate thing about a war, people die. A lot of people die, even those who don’t deserve it, you were protecting what was yours, taking back what belongs to you. You did what you had to do.” Maggie tries to comfort her.
“What if I didn’t have to kill all those people? What if I only thought it was what I had to do because I was blinded by rage? What if I made the wrong choices?” Gloria says as a tear rolls down her cheek.
“Then you admit that you made a mistake,” Maggie reaches out and wipes the tear away, “admit that you made a mistake then fix it.”
“How? I killed a lot of people, Maggie... how do I fix that?” Gloria asks.
Maggie ponders for a moment then smiles softly, “do you remember back at the farm when I was mad at Glenn for telling everyone about the walkers in the barn?”
“How could I forget? You egged him.” Gloria says with a slight chuckle.
Maggie chuckles and nods, “I did, but then afterwards, you came up to me and gave me good reasons to give him a chance to explain himself. Did he ever tell you what he said to me?”
Gloria shakes her head, “he didn’t, and I never thought it was my business to ask.”
“He told me that he knows he screwed everything up with me by telling everyone about the barn, and that he knows there’s no going back in time to undo it, but he believes that he can make up for it by doing the right thing.” Maggie explains.
“That is such a Glenn thing to say...” Gloria chuckles, “do the right thing... how do I know what’s the right thing to even do?”
“I asked him the same thing when he said it, and can you guess what he said to me?” Maggie says.
Gloria ponders for a moment, “that his heart would know.”
Maggie widens her eyes in awe, not expecting Gloria to actually be able to guess, then smiles and nods, “exactly.”
Gloria smiles at Maggie then she looks at Hershel and Sophia as they share toys with each other. Sophia coos at Hershel as she hands him a building block and Hershel responds with a babble. Gloria’s heart had her answer, she’d start by properly raising Sophia and protecting her, making sure that she would know the right choices to make. That’s only the start but that’s how she would be able to make it up to Glenn.
---
“Hey, she’s almost a year old,” Gloria says over her shoulder as she sits on the bed with a notebook propped open.
“Already?” Daryl responds, sitting on the bed and leaning on the headboard with Sophia bouncing in his lap, “you’re growin’ so fast.”
“Mhm, today’s day three hundred and fifty,” Gloria says as she writes the number on the top of the page.
She’d been keeping a journal since the day that Sophia was born. Gloria wanted to be able to keep track of her daughter’s daily progression, and to make sure she didn’t lose track of her birthday; if the adults weren’t able to have a birthday, at least her daughter would be able to have one.
Sophia lets out a babble and points to Daryl’s face then begins to giggle. He raises his eyebrow at this and playfully eyes her.
“I think she’s laughin’ at me,” he says, earning a chuckle from Gloria, “are ya laughin’ at me? Huh? Ya laughin’ at yer dad?”
“Dada!” Sophia squeals.
Daryl freezes in place as Gloria snaps her head back to look at the two, “did she just... call you Dada?”
“I dunno...” he says in a whisper as he stares at her.
Gloria puts the book on the nightstand beside the bed then moves to sit beside Daryl, “Sophia, did you say Dada? Can you say that again?”
Sophia looks at her mom and blinks, letting out a few incoherent babbles. Gloria remembers that Harlan told her babies tend to babble things that sound like mommy or daddy when they’re around Sophia’s age but they might not have any recognition of what those sounds mean. She decides to test it; she waves her hand in front of Sophia to get her attention then points to Daryl.
“Dada!” she says again.
“You’re her first word!” Gloria exclaims happily.
Daryl grins and leans down to kiss her forehead, “knew ya were a daddy’s girl.”
“Don’t ruin the moment,” Gloria rolls her eyes playfully.
He chuckles then leans back as Sophia decides that she’s going to plop on Daryl and snuggle him, “Dada.”
Gloria smiles at the sight and kisses the top of Sophia’s head then moves up to kiss Daryl’s cheek. She adjusts herself so that she’s lying down beside him.
“I guess this is how you’re sleeping tonight?” Gloria says as she sees Sophia closing her eyes.
“Guess so.” Daryl says softly then carefully moves his arm to wrap around Gloria, pulling her close to him.
For the last two and a half years, life had been hectic for Daryl and Gloria to say the least. The outbreak that caused the end of the world was a blessing in disguise as they had only found each other after the world ended. Many would and have considered them an unpredictable couple, but together they fought through the odds. Whether it was fighting the walkers or the people who turned into monsters because of the outbreak, they would get through all of it together. They belong together. They are fated to be together.

What is the complete storyline? Is Valentino an abusive ass in this one 2? If so, why does Angel let him around Whitey? And why does Alastor treat him the way he does?
Part 1:
Valentino took Angel Dust and made him a star.
He surrounded Angel with his cigarette smoke and promised him all the riches of hell if he worked obediently for him, he just had to say "yes" to everything and be a very submissive boy.
Drugs ran through his blood. He couldn't live without inhaling that red smoke, Angel needed it in his life, if he didn't breathe it, became nervous, depressed and hysterical.
Being close to Valentino was the only thing that made him happy and he would endure any abuse for his dose of drugs.
Angel worked hard to earn a position as his right hand man and also a position in the heart of the Moth. His life was drugs, fame and money, Valentino adored Angel and was about to confess.
Angel was sickly in love, dependent, would have done anything to make him happy... But he made a mistake that would cost him everything.
Valentino lost a lot of money, territory and fame, because of a mission that Angel failed and Valentino swore by his life that Angel was going to give him back every dollar that he lost because of his mistake.
Angel Dust was overexploited to the point of fainting, consuming more drugs every day to stay on his feet and earn Valentino's forgiveness. He cursing himself every day, every second for having defrauded in this way the one he had "saved" him from poverty and had made him a recognized star.
The debt went on and on growing. As time went by, Valentino added disproportionate interests with which he kept Angel in misery. Their relationship was totally broken and Vox entered the game.
So many years passed. Still, Angel Dust thought there would come a point where Val would forgive him and they would have that beautiful dream relationship again, that idealized relationship, for which he cried every night.
Sales began to drop, Valentino proposed as a novelty to turn Angel into a woman and reach a new audience. Angel was terrified at the idea, but he would do anything... to please Valentino.
Many experiments later, it was possible, Angel Dust would now be a woman. She would shoot straight porn for a limited time and that would boost sales. Val was beaming, happy and that made Angel happy too.
Angel was still very sore from all the experiments they did on him... Although for Val there was nothing that some sex would not solve and Angel enjoyed the few times that Valentino was kind.
Angel Dust returned to the Happy Hotel, to recover and get used to her new body.
Alastor has always been an egocentric who only thinks about himselft, but seeing Angel in his new body caused him curiosity, and he approached to find out more; he unconsciously acted as a cordial and polite man, the feminine essence made him lower his guard. Angel in his new body made him more friendly, as he always was with women, a cordial and educated man.
A drink, a few caresses, one thing led to another. It was nothing out of the ordinary, just a one night stand.
Cap 2 The recordings were going very well, but Angel felt bad, dizzy, disgusted and somewhat weak. He went to the doctor and received the horrible news: an unwanted pregnancy.
Angel was very sure it was Valentino's, because he was the first to "taste" his new body.
They tried to abort him in a thousand ways, cause for them it was only a hindrance, but Angel's body was not resisting: weak, thin and sunk in drugs... And Valentino was not going to lose his source of income.
Although it did not seem like it, after the initial shock the idea didn't seem so bad. Valentino, in his egocentricity, wanted to leave offsprings and have a "Mini-Me", he wanted something of his own blood, something made by himself and the more time passed, the more he got excited about the idea.
Angel… He was happy to make Valentino happy and he dreamed of a family, a good family, not like the one he had in human life, a family with parents who would love his children.
This new beginning brought Val and Angel back together, who began to reconcile, fantasizing about a happy and powerful family.
Even so, Angel Dust didn't stop doing porn and only added the tag “pregnant”.
The expected day arrived, after a long wait a little white-haired male baby was born in hell. Angel returned to his masculine form immediately after that.
A soft fluff surrounding his neck… And deer ears decorated his head.
Valentino didn't take the news well at all, he felt betrayed and used, exploded in anger.
He had them both killed.
Angel Dust, using all of his strength, took off running towards the Happy Hotel, with Valentino shooting to kill and with Vox's dogs hot on his heels.
He barely managed to arrive, exhausted and broken, just in time to reach Alastor's arms and ask for asylum, who didn't understand anything, but would not let Valentino, least of all Vox, were to cause problems in his hotel.
Big was his surprise when he found out that this little boy was his son, someone with whom he never had a single connection, who only had a one night stand, came to bring him his little newborn.
After the chaos, Charlie took Angel and the little one in, while Alastor made sure to guard the place without letting Valentino carry out revenge on him.
days passed and Angel thought about killing his own son if it brought him Valentino's forgiveness, but he knew it, nothing could heal such a broken relationship.
On his side, Alastor avoided getting close to Angel and the little boy, not knowing how to react and how to take on his fatherly role, watching them from afar and stalking them around the hotel.
Alastor made it clear to the pimp and his square-faced lover that if anything happened to his son's 'mother', he would destroy them without thinking.
Knowing that they couldn't kill him, but Val and Vox came up with a good plan to keep making his life miserable.
Cap 3 Final.
Val demanded that Angel return to work as soon as he could, so he would continue to exploit him and make his life miserable, knowing that in the end he wasn't in a relationship with the red demon and a deal... It's a deal: all Angel belonged to Valentino by contract.
Alastor made it clear to the pimp that if anything happened to the spider, he would eat his body for dinner.
Little by little Alastor got closer to Angel (not in a romantic way) to get to know his little one better. After some debate, he ended up being named White: on one hand a name that sounded appropriate for Alastor and on the other hand, for being a nickname for cocaine (White dust, White powder, White rock). His little one "Whitey".
(Here I make a clarification, that there was never an agreement on the name in general and Whitey's first name is Alastor Jr)
Alastor Jr White.
... But White hates it and prefers to be called Whitey, Witty, Whitie, etc)
Angel didn't want to make Alastor uncomfortable, he didn't even trust him, as he felt that it would be easier for the Lord to eat Whitey than to bear an unwanted child with someone like him.
Somewhat overprotective and without wanting to get away from his baby, he preferred to take Whitey to work, leaving him in charge of other porn actresses while he worked. Whittie was still a months old baby and he wouldn't remember or know what was going on around him.
Thus, Whitey's childhood was spent in the arms of actresses and prostitutes. Angel just came out of filming, took a shower and ran to pick up his son.
Valentino avoided Angel because he felt that if he saw him he would destroy his face with rage, but he never imagined meeting the little one.
The girls huddled together to give affection to that small and tender being, they filled him with kisses with lipstick and hugged him with the smell of cheap cologne, remembering their children they had in life. He started to be a "everyone's son" in the studio.
The pimp was curious about the situation and went to see, running into the baby. He had angry feelings when he saw him, he had waited for him for so long, he had wanted him and he had even bought things for his arrival and now he was in front of him... But It wasn't his son, yet Val had loved him for so long that the feeling couldn't go away easily.
Valentino took him in his arms and felt something inside him, White smiled for him and wagged his tail happily.
When Angel Dust finished filming, he saw Valentino surrounded by the other actresses with his baby in his arms, laughing loudly and playing with him. His heart clenched at the thought that he could hurt him... but he didn't, he looked happy and Whitey too.
Despite the fright, Angel couldn't refuse to let Valentino approach Whitie, because he would get in trouble with the pimp, so he just stayed on the sidelines, making sure that the little one didn't enrage the madman who was his boss.
As a result, Angel, Val and Whitt began to spend time together, creating a false sense of 'happy family', one where Angel would see Valentino smile daily at this new 'toy' he gave birth to for him.
The one who was not happy was Vox, who had made a baby specifically for Valentino (Bytez), to fulfill his frustrated dream of being a father, but Valentino had cruelly rejected him after becoming fond with Whittie.
On his side, Alastor promised to give his son the best possible life.
He placed high expectations on him, relying on his ego in wanting to raise him as someone faultless, Alastor wanted him to be perfect, a worthy son of him, one that people admired and feared, a powerful being like him who could dominate the masses.
Whitey was still a baby but Alastor saw a lot of potential. Knowing that Angel was taking him to his work was not to his liking, much less knowing that his son was in the hands of someone like Valentino.
When he was barely old enough to learn, Whitey passed into the hands of Alastor, who gave him tutors and teachers, molding him from a young age with a strict regimen.
Alastor's high expectations destroyed his bond with Whitie, always demanding more of him, always demanding a perfection that he couldn't achieve. In his youth, he did't know how to shoot a weapon (and when he learned he had a horrible aim) he didn't hide his feelings behind a smile like him, he was explosive and affectionate, he had a hard time controlling his inner power. Spending father and son time was a headache for both of them: always fighting, always arguing, too different to get along.
Alastor saw his son as a disappointment and even as a danger, because he had to control that his bad temper didn't cause greater havoc, controlling the power in him.
Unlike Valentino, the pimp loved to see Whitey be destructive, be messy and boisterous, be dirty and annoying. He loved taking him to fast food and limousine rides, using him as a weapon for his enemies, watching him tear people apart and bathe his white skin in blood, watching him devour his victims like a wild animal.
Val gave him the acceptance and attention that Alastor denied him since he was a child, the paternal hugs, the words of encouragement, hearing him say "I'm proud of you", "you are the king" "you can achieve what you propose".
And so was his life, between the studio and the happy hotel. Loving Angel, hating Alastor and loving his “uncle / stepfather” Valentino.

Parenthood as a Major Theme in The Witcher
aka a defense of Yennefer's fertility arc
In some commentary on The Witcher season 1, I've read about disappointment that mid-season Yennefer spends her story time dedicated to hunting a fertility cure. The primary critique of this 2-episode arc for her is that it appears to conform too readily to a trope that "all women eventually want babies", and also seems counter to her previous disregard and cynicism for the idea of motherhood.
I think there's two cases that can be made that demonstrate why this element of the series deserves more than to be judged as "lazy or reductive writing". The first is Yennefer's personal journey--which after two viewings I believe holds up strongly. The second, even bigger case is what the theme of parenthood means to the show, and why Yennefer is only one of several aspects of it. That's what I am going to talk about in this post. Expect full spoilers for season 1.
Birth, Babies, and Legacy in Season 1
To put it bluntly, the topic of reproduction is all over The Witcher. The show is kind of obsessed with it. Let's go through the ways that parenthood and/or reproduction feature significantly in every episode:
1 - The conflict in Blaviken is a result of Stregobor's murderous obsession with killing babies born under a supposed curse. Those  infants and girls represented power that he wanted to terminate. In Cintra, Ciri becomes an orphan.
2 - Yennefer's mixed elven parentage is the source of her power and her physical deformity. Trauma is inherited generationally, seen again in Fillavandrel's outcast society, stripped of heritage and legacy. Jaskier's first song references abortion.
3 - A striga is made when a pregnant woman is cursed and her undead fetus becomes a ravenous monster. Foltest wants her to be rescued to live as his child and heir. Her monster body still has its umbilical cord--a gnarly cosmetic flourish that drives the point home. In Aretuza's scary gyno chair, Yen is sterilized in exchange for ultra-performative femininity. Although she consents, it is a corrupt bargain designed to exploit her.
4 - The Queen of Aederin and her newborn are assassinated for being unable to birth a male baby. Yennefer almost dies trying to prevent it, then gives a monologue about how the patriarchy only sees women as vessels.  Queen Calanthe tries to protect her daughter from the Law of Surprise, only to see it initiated again on her grandchild.
5 - After some 50 years as a mage Yen goes hunting for a fertility cure, using alchemy and then a djinn. She tells Tassaia that although she knew what she was giving up in Aretuza, "I didn't know what it would mean to me." Also, wow a lot of sex is had.
6 - Geralt and Yen talk about parenthood and their respective lost opportunities. The episode mcguffin is a dragon egg, whom they both fight to defend. Borch Three Jackdaws states the theme of parenthood outright. On the surface he is proclaiming his own motivation, but in the context of Geralt and Yennefer's prior discussions we know that he is speaking for both them and the show as a whole:
"This is my final 'first'. A child. This treasure, this legacy, must endure. There is no other reason to go on."
Episode 6 also shows how Geralt and Yen have grown since episode  4. She is forced to accept that natural birth is impossible, and Geralt is forced to reflect out loud that it's only fear of parental failure that has prevented him from claiming his own child.
7 -  On getting news of the Nilfgaard invasion, Geralt decides to claim Ciri. Calanthe and Eist go to extremes to keep their child in their family.
8 - Everyone wants to be Ciri's new family, including this nice woman who doesn't have any daughters. In the end, Geralt finally becomes a father.
Destiny = Family
I firmly believe that the show is leading us to a point where Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri form an eventual family. The desire for family is verbalized multiple times for Ciri, notably in Brokilon Forest when she calls Dara her family, and then when Dara leaves her and tells her find another family. Twice in the show women try to adopt Ciri, promising safety and care. Yet she's driven by a strong directive to find Geralt as "he is your destiny".  She is his Child Surprise, essentially this universe's fucked up version of a godchild. And the Law of Surprise is not just tradition, but a cosmic binding with tangible consequences. Geralt initially denies this, but Duny, Eist, Mousesack, Yennefer, and Borch all vocalize it, and season 1 events bear it out.
If Ciri is steered by a bond of destiny, so is Geralt. When he rejects the Child Surprise at Pavetta's wedding, Mousesack warns that doing so will bring ill fortune. Episode 5 and 6 subtly but persistently imply that this prophecy is true, as the witcher's next several years are filled with sleeplessness and an undefined longing. Magically binding himself to Yennefer alleviates some of that (essentially by making him happy), but I don't think it's only because of love, but also because his destiny being intertwined with Yennefer is a step towards his destiny being intertwined with Ciri. Because even after getting some peaceful nights with intermittent Yennaffairs (get it? hah!), something still seems off with Geralt.
"You feel it just the same as me that hole inside you. That itch inside your brain keeps you awake at night. Come with me, I'll show you what you're missing." - Borch Three Jackdaws
This is a cute screenplay trick because we assume that he's talking about nostalgic adventure, but on review he's actually talking about parenthood. Later when Geralt gripes that the thing he was missing is Yennefer as she walks away again, Borch replies, "What you're missing is still out there. Your legacy, your destiny. I know it." (hello Ciri!) We never get a clear idea of why Mr. Three Cool Names knows all this stuff, but I didn't care because a dragon being cryptically omniscient is exactly the sort of thing I want from my fantasy shows.
Conclusion
So it's family, family, family. Yennefer is just one corner of this thematic tapestry; the other three are Geralt, Ciri, and #destiny. Their journey to find each other, to accept these bonds, is what the show is about. I expect the theme to cement even more in future seasons.
Consequently, to reduce Yennefer's storyline to cliché alone is to miss the way everyone on this show is obsessed with parenthood in some form. It also misses how much fatherhood will be central Geralt's journey.  Even if he came to the same decision 2 episodes (and 13 years) later than Yen did, Geralt actively decides that he want to claim his role as a parent figure. That isn't the easy gripe target of "women want babies", but the point is that Yen and Geralt are both on the same path, with Ciri as the destination. A character can have something that resembles part of a cliché without being negatively defined by it. In The Witcher, the greater context is relevant to this critique.
So I urge you to look at the full season and see how her fertility arc fits into the big picture. If you still wish that Yen had continued to be proudly child-free, then I respect your desire to see that story told. However, it would be worth it to recognize now that this probably isn't going to be the story you want. Parenthood is a big part of it. This story is going to be about two magical adults and one magical child becoming a family.
A family of total badasses, adopted through destiny and love.

Although the nurse was trying to be quiet, the sound of the door opening woke her up and she glanced groggily into the corner of the room. A moment of understanding passed between them and Cassandra nodded slowly, watching as the older woman stepped aside; holding the door open for the visitor. Taehyung looked anxious as he came into view, brown eyes darting into the far corner where the newborn slept, before fixing on the woman in the bed. He thanked the nurse quietly as she closed the door behind them, giving them their privacy, and stood at the foot of the bed; jaw clenched firmly.
“I received a phone call saying you’d gone into labour…and I came as soon as I heard.” His gaze flickered once more to the crib but he quickly looked away, a troubled frown playing on his features. “But I guess I was too late…”
She wasn’t quite sure how long she had been asleep; the blinds were closed, blocking out the third floor view. “It was over so quick…” She murmured in a croaky voice, before letting out a small, wheezy laugh. “I was just as surprised...I suppose I should be thankful it didn’t go on for longer.”
He looked awkward and uncomfortable standing there in the middle of the room and Cassandra gestured for him to come closer. There was a second of hesitation before he strolled over to the single chair beside her, pulling it closer to the bed and sitting down. She held out her bruised hand and he took it softly in his, careful to avoid the drip plastered against her knuckles.
“Anyway…” She continued, voice stronger having loosened her vocal chords. “You wouldn’t have wanted to see me like that…” She trailed off, wondering how bad she looked. There were no mirrors in the room, but her hair clung damply to her forehead and she hadn’t managed to shower. There was the briefest memory of the aftermath; of her vomiting on the floor and watching, blurry-eyed, as the mess was cleaned up. She had apologised profusely but the moment was quickly forgotten once the soft form was bundled into her arms. She recalled running her fingers delicately along his head; wondering how it was possible a newborn could already have so much dark, fluffy hair. Eventually, after an unknown amount of time, he had been taken from her and she fell into a doze until the low sound of cries from the crib woke her and the midwife passed him back to her to begin his first feed. Her breasts felt so sore afterwards she had almost cried, but he had managed to latch on fine and she was reassured she had done well.
Taehyung shook his head in disagreement, dark eyes glossy and shimmering in the clinical glow of the overhead strip light. “Did you have anyone with you?” He asked, voice little more than a whisper.
“The midwife.” She answered.
His features seemed to crumple. “Cass…”
“I’m a big girl Tae…” She gave a weak smile, though could tell he saw through it. “It was fine…”
He fell silent but was unable to hide the stark look of sympathy on his face. She found it unbearable and, desperately shifting the attention away from herself, glanced at the crib.
“You should go and see him…”
He immediately looked over to the crib before turning back, giving her one last glance. He seemed hesitant and nervous, but she nodded slowly, letting him know it was what she wanted. Letting go of her hand, he slowly got to his feet and walked a little unsteadily over to the corner of the room. She was thankful for a moment of privacy and shifted further into the mattress. The pain relief had started to wear off and her mouth opened in a silent groan. Taehyung didn’t notice; having caught glimpse of the tiny figure bundled in the transparent cot, he was unable to look away and Cassandra watched closely; a slight flutter growing in her chest as he peered in. He was quiet for a long time and she broke the silence.
“He looks like you…” She murmured softly, though he didn’t seem to hear. His bottom lip trembled uncontrollably as he let out a low sob, his entire face twisting, clutching his hand desperately to his lips.
“He’s so beautiful Cass…” He dropped heavily to his knees. “I can’t believe it…” He wept unapologetically, chest heaving with deep, gaspy exhalations as he watched the sleeping baby. “So beautiful…” He repeated, struggling to catch his breath.
She was too dehydrated, despite the drip, to show much emotion but she watched sleepily as he pressed his hand flat against the clear cot.
“I know…” She agreed softly, smiling in response. He turned to look at her with wet eyes; his cheeks red and sodden. “He’s perfect...” She continued, features softening. “How did we do it Tae?”
He held her gaze a moment longer, a shared thought passing between them before he turned back to his son with shaking shoulders. “He looks like you too…” He commented, belatedly responding to her previous observation. “God…” He whimpered, clumsily wiping his face with the back of his hand, knuckles digging deeply into his cheekbones as he gathered himself. “He’s gorgeous…”
“I was thinking of naming him Gabriel…”
His eyes shimmered as he looked at her.
“Like the archangel…” She explained.
His lips parted and he repeated the name slowly under his breath, wrapping his tongue around the syllables.
“If you like it…” She added.
He nodded in confirmation, repeating it again as his hand moved once more to the plastic, desperately pressing against the barrier which held them apart.
“It might be difficult to register it in Hangul…” She continued. “But I thought you might want to decide on the characters…”
Taehyung looked at her lovingly. “Thank you…” He nodded appreciatively.
Cassandra let out a long, sleepy yawn, suddenly aware of her own, pungent scent and the fact she desperately needed the bathroom. The thought of trying filled her with dread, yet she knew she would have to.
“He’s so small...” Taehyung mused, fingertips light against the pane.
“The midwife said we can go home tomorrow after the checks…” She paused as a thought entered her mind. “Will you be around?”
He hesitated, before nodding. “Back to your apartment?”
“At least for now.” She confirmed.
He was silent for a while. “Last month…” He began apprehensively. “I don’t know if you want to...there was an apartment on the market in Gangnam...two bedrooms.” He looked up. “I thought it might do you both…”
She pondered this for a moment. “You bought it?”
“Your apartment’s too cold in the winter.” He confirmed. “And it has a lot of stairs.” He added.
She sighed softly. “I’ll think about it.”
He nodded in relief and she looked past him, towards the black tuft of hair just visible above the thick blanket.
“You can hold him if you like, when he wakes up.” She murmured softly.
He opened his mouth to reply, but the sound of the door opening stole his attention and he scrambled to his feet as the elderly midwife poked her head around the door.
“Is everything okay?” She looked from Taehyung to Cassandra and he breathed in deeply, wiping the wet streaks from his face.
Cassandra nodded, quietly thankful for the interruption. The fulness of her bladder was starting to become painful and the thought of breaking such a tender moment herself seemed almost blasphemous.
Permission silently granted, the older woman walked into the room, casting a glance towards Taehyung and taking in his red, flushed face. “This must be dad…” She smiled, acknowledging him briefly before bending to look in the crib. Taehyung opened his mouth, an unexpected emotion washing over him at the name. It didn’t feel real, and the loud wail which echoed around the room a moment later made him jump as the baby awoke.
“He must be hungry…” The woman commented cheerfully and Taehyung stepped back to give her room; her welcoming arms reaching deep into the crib. He watched in amazement; the ease in which she handled him taking him aback; he seemed so delicate in her warm grasp. She turned to Cassandra. “Do you feel up for another feed? And then we’ll get you cleaned up.”
The younger woman seemed apprehensive but, meeting Taehyung’s gaze from over the midwife’s shoulder, gave a small nod, holding out her hands and tucking the child carefully against her breast.

jjk story idea ig
okay so I need to get this out of my head because I lowkey want to write this as a story on here but idk if anyone would ever read it. i mean not like anyone will ever see this post since it's my first ever post on this acc so idk if i will appear on the tags. also if you happen to read this please know that English isn't my native language so yeah sorry if there are any mistakes. anyway the story idea is under the keep reading tag (hopefully)
also this hasn't been proofread im sorry
But like in my head I feel like Yuuji is somehow the reincarnation of Sukuna, and this is the reason he was able to become his vessel. Hear me out.
We know that Sukuna was human at first and then turned into the king of curses he is today. So, what if the decisions he made 1000 years ago not only had consequences for him, but also his entire lineage. What if he did become the king of curse but at a certain price, and it being his entire family and descendant being cursed forever.
This is where my story starts, I imagine Yuuji having an older sister, sister who would be the reader. But how would I ever introduce her into the storyline you would ask? Simple, it's explained with the curse Sukuna would have put on his lineage. In this story human Sukuna also had an older sister, one that did everything in her power to prevent him from becoming the king of curses but failed. A failure she never accepted and that resulted in her cursing herself upon her death.
Every century their direct descendants would see the birth of a boy destined to be the reincarnation of the king of curse, the only person in the world who would be able to ever become Sukuna's vessel, as well as his older sister. But every century without a fail the higher ups of the jujutsu world would find a way to eliminate the baby before he can become the vessel, while the older sister would have to sit and watch her brother get killed yet another time. And this is part of the older sister's curse, every time she is reborn she remembers everything from her past life, and she has to witness her brother get killed yet another time while he is still a newborn baby and can never prevent it. (this part is heavily inspired by Meliodas and Elizabeth's curse in 7DS)
This endless reincarnations would fuel reader's cursed technique since every single past selves still live within her current self. But how would have Yuuji lived if this au involves Sukuna's reincarnations dying every time as a newborn? Well you see in this current timeline reader felt like she accumulated enough cursed energy throughout the past 1000 years to try and do something to save him. Since she is 12 years older than Yuuji she used the little time she had after her cursed technique manifested to train and find a way to help her soon to be born brother. And she did, when Yuuji was born she sealed his cursed energy away with her own. Sealing Yuuji's cursed energy would mean that he wouldn't be able to be drawn to Sukuna's fingers and thus become his vessel. This caused a lot of troubles because the higher ups still obviously wanted the child gone because he supposedly was still a threat even without his cursed energy. After a lot of failed murder attempts coming from the higher ups, the reader got fed up and decided to make them believe they succeeded then hide Yuuji's exsitence from them, but in order to protect him she had to leave him behind. Then the story would progress in a similar way until Yuuji's "death" after the cursed womb arc.
This is still kind of a draft in my head so it's messy and not really clear but yeah idk tell me? Would it be worth developping it further? Also if I do write it, chances are that Gojo would become reader's love interest because I'm in love with this man I'm not even sorry. But please, even if I end up not writing this, DO NOT take my story idea and write it as your own like no lmao that's mean I would curse you<3 Anyway please let me know if you would want to read this, okay bye sorry it was so long.

MY THOUGHTS ON TUA SEASON TWO: PART TWO (spoilers)
So...I finished season two.
I’m putting ALL my thoughts under the tab so please, don’t click unless you’ve seen it all, and/or you just....like don’t care about spoilers? But please if you’ve not watched it, watch it first ‘cause it deserves all the hype and attention.
You can read part one to this here.
FIVE HARGREEVES…
Tumblr media
I deadass thought he was gonna die.
I thought throughout the entire show that he was going to die, and ESPECIALLY at the end, I thought that was it. I guess I’m glad though that he didn’t die of course. But I was convinced, and glad he didn’t and that there was no shock-value death of a major character.
(though like maybe one of them should have gotten hit by a bullet in one of those final scenes?? I mean….there were bullets EVERYWHERE. By SO many guns. How did they miss every time????)
Aiden Gallagher did a terrific job with the character. I don’t agree with the things he personally has done but I am convinced on his acting abilities, I mean JEEZ. He sold the act and alongside Diego/David Casteneda, was really one of the best actors on the show. I am thoroughly impressed. I didn’t really like him much in Season One, but he’s sold the role to me now and I’m very impressed.
That being said... I kinda hated Five. That’s it. I liked him in general but some parts, I was so pissed off and just didn’t like. He was an asshole and I know he IS an asshole but it was beyond just being a grumpy old pisspot. And I don’t know really how to feel, because I know being 45 years alone and lost and then becoming the world’s best assassin or whatever will fuck your head up, so it makes sense. I just think there were points where he lost most of his humanity, and then he’d flip-flop back to a more caring being. I sort of just wished there was a clear definition to all of his thoughts and emotions on it all.
But at the same time his character makes sense so I don’t know how to feel??? Maybe I’m just pissed on how he treated Diego and shit. But I’m very very glad he’s not dead!!
ALLISON HARGREEVES…
Tumblr media
Okay, I thought she was REALLY dead in that scene. You know the one I’m talking about.
Holy shit.
I was so scared. And also it was so sudden (and a little cool admittedly how Lila just threw it back at her like that - HOW DO I WORD thAT NON-SEXUALLY) and I was so fucking worried they’d kill her off, because I find sometimes her character comes off a little disposable. Not because I want her gone, more that the show finds her an afterthought and pushes her with someone or ‘silences’ her.
But overall I loved her storyline. I didn’t know if I’d like her just being married, it felt again like an afterthought and she was being pushed to be with someone, but the civil rights movement plot was really well done, in my eyes. I loved too the agony of having such impressive powers, but scared of the effects of doing so and also not wanting to be the person she was before. I felt for her and I was so impressed with her separating herself from her past, trying to push away from being the one who had it all and trying to be her own self. I think that this season did that really well, with all the characters and finding themselves, and I just...I want her to be happy, and successful and I want to see her find a way to use her powers without causing pain to herself or others.
And not be with Luther. Please, anyone who can do a thing about it reading this, do not make her and Luther a thing.
(also - emmy raver lampman is in general so goddamn talented and beautiful and i wish her the best. i just heard her rendition of satisfied and me oh my, that gal deserves so much more love, i hope this show catapults her career even more forward)
VANYA HARGREEVES…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Literally invented cottagecore.
Also, I love her.
I was so impressed with the way they handled her queer storyline. I was so worried about it, admittedly because television shows have a history of handing out stereotypical plotlines and not caring about the depth of them but dear FUCKING heavens, I loved this one. I cried like a baby, and yet I was left almost happy, at the end? Not happy, because they’re apart and Sissy’s stuck in a world that she can’t be herself in, but there was a beautiful bittersweetness that I adored about it. And it was realistic, and they didn’t just follow a trope and leave it there to wither up and die.
Vanya was adorable in this season and while I normally hate the amnesiac storyline, I think it’s an easy way out, I liked it here! Because yeah it was I guess an ‘easy way out’, but it worked and it made Vanya be able to be here and actually start over. I didn’t want to see her so burdened with who she had been and who she was forced to be, I wanted to see her smile and dance and love her siblings and she could and I couldn’t be happier. I mean, when she was just saying how she loved her family and her family was amazing...obviously it’s funny cause the family’s so messed up, but she meant it and I just want so much good for her.
I just love how they naturally developed the idea of the Hargreeves genuinely liking each other. This season really brought them together but unlike the first, it wasn’t necessarily because they had to, but because they wanted to. And I think Vanya did that for them.
Basically...I don’t know how to put it all into words without making this a 70-page thesis essay. But I love her and want the best for her.
(side note - I really also was impressed with Harlan. I was scared that somehow they were going to do something stupid with him, but he was adorable and I loved him. his character made me tear up a little, too. as someone who has close family with severe autism, it’s rare to see a show that doesn’t make an upsetting and non-accurate portrayal out of someone on the spectrum. but he was so precious and smart and good and Sissy loved him and dammit, I would die for that little family)
I’m ALSO curious if Vanya’s gonna visit Sissy ever? I mean I thought she would have at the end but obviously the cliffhanger didn’t leave room for that...idk know though because I think with multiverse theories and whatnot, she wouldn’t even know her but...eh.
KLAUS HARGREEVES…
Tumblr media
I don’t actually have much to say on him, which is shocking because in Season One, I could have written a whole book on his character. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t love him! He’s still one of my favourites, and I wish I could just take away his pain because that boy deserves at least a kernel of good in his life. But truly, there’s just not much I know to say about him??
The scene in the restaurant with Dave and his uncle though hurt. What hurt more though was his nonchalant nature about it, because he’s been through that so many times and he almost expected it, which hurt. It’s expected and I knew he couldn’t just waltz up to Dave and confess his love and they’d be dandy, but as a queer person, it was a punch to the heart just watching him go through that.
I just want him to be happy someday, and bond with his siblings because there’s a deep sadness that lurks with Klaus, and maybe it’s from the actor too but there’s a melancholy that I relate to, which I hate because that melancholy is a heavy burden to carry. A worthlessness, and a deep depression that he’s seemed to have fallen into that’s a bitch to climb out of and I’m scared that he won’t be able to. He covers it up in funny gestures and vices but it’s still destroying him. Even the cult - he lacks any real love and he finds it in meaningless places, never remembering their names or anything about them and coming off as an asshole when really, he’s just looking for someone who truly cares about him, who he is on the inside and listens to him without yknow, becoming brainwashed and treating him like a god.
I’m interested to see where the show takes his character.
BEN HARGREEVES…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This show really said fuck my feelings on this one, huh???
EPISODE NINE MADE ME SO NUMB AND SAD AND JUST - FUCK.
I cried so hard when he got to save the day. He finally could do more than just follow Klaus around, and he finally got to be more than their dead brother. For so long, Ben was just an idea, a memory and I can only imagine the pain of having to deal with that. They touch on it in the show but it’s so much deeper than just being alone with only Klaus to talk to - I mean Ben was literally nothing, to any of the others, aside from being their dead brother. And when he finally got to save them, and save Vanya and fucking HUG HER AS HE PASSES ON TO THE AFTERLIFE….when I tell you I sobbed....
And his hug with Diego, how HAPPY they both were….the way that they both just….:’((
And that scene with young Klaus and Ben....Netflix when I said I wanted more Ben content I don’t know if I meant THIS.
At the same time...it was beautiful and bittersweet because he was happy, almost, moving on to his next life. He was able to do what he needed to and move on and that was beautiful. And, he got to say goodbye to at least some of his siblings, and so I can’t truly be sad about his passing. Even though it made me sob like a newborn babe.
But also...what the fuck was that ending?
And by that I mean, who the fuck signed off on that stupid lil’ haircut??? HUH???? WHY DID HE LOOK LIKE HE WAS WEARING FUCKING FAKE BANG-CLIPONS AOIHWGOIHWOIWHOIGWH
IN CONCLUSION. Fuck Reginald Hargreeves and also just FUCK.
In conclusion, I really loved this season. It ended happier than I expected and that makes me happy, so much more happy then I thought I would have been. TUA has been one of my favourite shows, and I’ve over the past while waiting for S2, developed several strong loves for these characters. More than I’ve ever cared about others. And for the most part, they were given the justice I hoped they would be.
Overall, I am happy. And I hope we get season three, almost entirely just so I can figure out if Ben Hargreeves is wearing fake-bang clip ons or not. And also...like for everything else.
Also, what the fuck is a Sparrow Academy? Whomst??? And where’s miss Lila?? And are they technically related and if so HUH?? And also...no rights to Mr Reginald.
This is such a messy summary, lmao.
But let me know what you think! I’m going to rewatch it soon, probably tonight and I’m so excited to fall even more in love with it. (and them)

Arrowverse: News, News, News
We got a lot of news during the Upfronts for the Arrowverse and while most of it won’t make anyone particulary happy, well, it’s the way the world is now and we have to deal with it and hope that everything will go down like this and thing won’t get worse again. So let’s do a quick recap of the most important questions.
Is it true that there won’t be any new Arrowverse Content after the first Season of „Stargirl“ finishes airing in 2020?
Yes. The CW will however transmit the „Swamp Thing“ Television Series from the DC App in Autum. As seen during „Crisis on Infinite Earths“ „Swamp Thing“ is part oft he Arrow-Multiverse and the new Multiverse after „Crisis“. However Season 1 is already available on the app and no second season has been comissioned so far. There might be hope for a second season if the first one does well on The CW, but given what went down behind the scenes during the shooting of Season 1, there would be a lot of changes involved in that second season and it’s unlikley that it would be produced by The CW alone (because, well, money).
When are the shows coming back?
In January 2021, which would normally be the mid-seaon, The CW shows are coming back. „Batwoman“ Season 2 is back on Sunday, „Black Lightning“ Season 4 is back on Monday, „The Flash“ will rule the Tuesday again – and „Superman & Lois“ will start airing right after „The Flash“.
Season 6 of „Supergirl“ and „Legends of Tomorrow“ will air late in 2021, presumable at the end of Mid-Season, meaning in about a year from now. So yes, sadly it looks like we will have to wait for a year for the new seasons for those two shows. At least. There is a slight possibilty that we might have to wait even longer for „Supergirl“, but I will come back to this later.
 Why so late?
If you really have to ask this question, you should have turned on the news sometimes in the last couple of months. While it looks like the shows are coming back to filming in August, it’s too early to tell if this will actually happen. In the spirit of better save than sorry, The CW prepped for a later air date, so that if worse comes to worst they don’t have to redo their programm in the last minute. Yes, it could be argued that they could have met an Octorber or November air-date like they are aiming for with the last episodes of „Supernatural“, but right now everything needs more time and the decision is not really surprising, it’s more surprising that they elected to not hold back the finished episodes of the current seasons until Autum, like many other networks did.
And no, „Supergirl“ is not held back because the ratings are so bad (which they aren’t). Yes, everyone knew about Melissas pregnancy for quite some time and they had an elaborate plan to work around it, but this plan went to shit, because it would have involved filming the first bunch of episodes between April and June, meaning right now, so that there would have been material for October. The plan was to resume filming after Melissas pregnancy leave, which is now the earliest start date for any Season 6 covergage involving her (besides archive footage from 5.19 and the unfinished 5.20). Given that she will have a newborn at this point they might hold of filming for an even longer periode of time than originally planned. The same might be true for Danielle Panabaker by the way, don’t expect more of Caitlin or Frost than originally planned in the early stages of what is now Season 7 just because they might start filming at a later point than the would have. We might get even less of her and less scenes with body contact then we would have gotten otherwise.
So basically „Supergirl“ is held back because a new human is about to be born, which must be protected under any cercumstances and so must the mother, which is more important than any air date. Melissas is not a slave. And from the moment the lock down was announced everyone should have known that there was no way for „Supergirl“ to return before the mid-season. Given that the other shows are returning at mid-season now, it’s just logical that this show returns even later. And yes, that also means, that if the worst happens, we might not get any new episodes of „Supergirl“ before Autum 2021. It’s unlikely but not impossible.
 So no more crossovers?
No. There are definite plans for a two part crossover between „Batwoman“ and „Superman & Lois“. This crossover will also involve characters from the other shows, meaning mosty Barry, maybe Sara and someone from „Supergirl“, depending on when the crossover will happen (and if „Supergirl“ is back to filming then, and if Melissa is back to filming then). There are also plans for a crossover between „The Flash“ and „Stargirl“, which is the reason why the other crossover does not happen between „The Flash“ and „Superman&Lois“, even though the two shows will air at the same night. Right now there a plans for an episode of „The Flash“ to feature „Stargirl“, and given that there might be less epsiodes than usually next season no one wanted to sacrifice two episodes of „The Flash“ for crossover stuff. There were plans for a „Batwoman“/“Supergirl“-Crossover, however given that we don’t really know when „Supergirl“ will start airing again, it’s unlikley for that to happen any time soon. It might have been replaced by the current „Batwoman“/“Superman & Lois“-Crossover, however depending on the schedule of both shows it might just be postponed for a little while and still happen in „Supergirl“ during it’s sixth season. If „Black Lightning“ is going to show up in the other shows next season is hard to tell. Keep in mind they are filming in Atlanta while the rest of the Arrowverse is Vancouver based. Maybe Grant will flash through „Black Lightning“, but given the current travel restrictions (meaning Quarantine after flight) even that is very unlikley to happen as of now.
Is „Green Arrow and the Canaries“ dead then?
No, the spin-off is „very much alive“, we were told. All the new shows were ordered on script base, because pilot season did not happen this year. However none of the backdoor pilots were picked up yet. However, given that there is no Autum programm to speak of, everything was pushed back to the mid-season which left less time slots for new shows. However The CW is still interested in „Green Arrow and the Canaries“, it might just take more time than usually for the show to take of. Maybe next summer or next autum or just a season later than planned. That does mean there is still hope for a pick up. And it’s safe to assume that until then certain Canaries and Green Hoods might show up in other Arrowverse shows.
What about Season 2 of „Stargirl“?
Given that the first episode will air in the coming days, there is no way to tell yet if there will be a second season and when it will happen and if it will be a shared child of The CW and the App like Season 1 or if it will go another way. Time will tell. We’ll have to wait and see.
What about the lost episodes of the current seasons?
So, „Batwoman“ has lost two episodes this season, „Supergirl“ made two episodes into one, and „The Flash“ lost three eps. Some parts of this episodes do exist, Episode 6.20 of „The Flash“ had even finished shooting by the time the production was halted. Now every writer’s room is task to find out what to do with its lost episodes and shot footage. Now, we don’t really know about „Batwoman“ and even less about „Supergirl“ (they might just loose most of the 5.19 and 5.20 material and change it all around completly, given that they have already cut those two episodes together into one), but in case of „The Flash“ it was stated several times that the content of those three episodes will find it’s way into Season 7 in some shape or form. Many storyline were supposed to be concluded and/or started in this 6.21 and 6.22 so the most likley outcome is that the events of this three episodes will be condensed and remixed for the first two episodes of Season 7. Archive footage of the unaired und unfinished episodes might be used in the season openers next year (so hair continuity will be „fun“). „Legends of Tomorrow“ is unfazed by all of this, because they had wrappes their season weeks ago by time the other shows were forced to shut down production.
The new seasons will be shorter?
„Legends“ and „Black Lightning“ might be around their usual lenght. „Supergirl“ is definifly going to have a shorter season. As for the others I wouldn’t expect a full 22 season for those three either. „Superman&Lois“ might aim for 13-16 eps anyway as the new kid on the block and I am not sure „Batwoman“ and „The Flash“ will be able to shoot a full season or let’s at least say I don’t think The CWs new schedule will allow them to go for a full season if they start airing in January. However, maybe the will go for it and just scrap the breaks. But I am not optimistic.
 And beyond this?
Well, the upfronts will collide with some of the air dates of the shows next year, so I have no clue. Network television might be changing for good. Who can say? What we can say is that we have reason to believe that there will be at least an eight Season of „The Flash“, maybe even a ninth and tenth. There were talks with Grant going on, however they were halted. I do think „Batwoman“ is on the safe side for at least a third season and unless Warner pulls the plug or the ratings are really really bad „Superman&Lois“ will have at least a second season. „Legends“ could go on forever if the change up the cast every few years accordingly, however The CW never seemd to appreceate the show, so I am not sure what will happen beyond Season 6 there. The same goes for „Supergirl“ which depends on Melissa extending her contract, and given the baby and the current situation and the tendency of the Original Cast to run scared from this show, well let’s just say I would not want to bet on any outcome as of right now. „Black Lighting“s ratings aren’t great and Netflix has elected to go from weekly to full season with it which is also a bad sign, but The CW is not like the other networks, meaning you have to have really bad ratings and cost more than you are worth to get cancelled, so it depends on how Season 4 is doing overall. The inclusion in „Crisis“ might have bought the show another year at least. However none of this is anything else then speculation. No one nows anything of right now, so keep that in mind please.
Is there anything else we know?
Yes, we got synopsis for „Superman& Lois“ and apperantly for „Legend of Tomorrow“ Season 6., which spoils the end of the current Season but was released anyway. It sounds very wild, but seems to be legit. So, you can read up on those two upcoming seasons right now if you want to. I am going to go over those when we have the synopsis for the other shows as well, I think.
Until then, don’t miss „Legends“ in the next couple of weeks, especially not „The One were they are trapped on TV“ and maybe give „Stargirl“ a try.

My Ranking of Outlander Season 5 Episodes
Wow. This has been such a great season! It really felt fresh and well-made. It’s like we’re thrown back to earlier seasons, and I love it so much. The writing is a whole lot better; the direction is creative and new – but never to a point that it got dreary and boring; there is a significant amount of change that I really liked. Overall, a brilliant and amazing season.
I’ve done something like this from the previous season (click here, if you’re interested), and now I guess I’m doing it again! It’s a lot harder, though, because I really liked most of the Season 5 episodes. I even wish it was longer! Twelve episodes seemed so short. I wish we could back to earlier episodes when we have more than fifteen episodes for one season.
So, to start off my Droughtlander (ugh, I cry thinking about Season 6 – it seems so far away), this is my ranking of Outlander Season 5 episodes! Before I begin, let me just say that this is my opinion, so please be polite. No need to tell me that you prefer this over that because obviously, this is my ranking. Also, just so you know, I haven’t read The Fiery Cross. I’ve only read Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, and the first few chapter of Voyager. So, I may make mistakes about what happened in the books and such, since I only watch the TV show.
#12: Episode 3 - Free Will
Tumblr media
Technically not a bad episode, but this is the one that I least liked out of all. It was a bit draggy, but definitely not boring. Nothing is boring when Jamie and Claire faces danger together!
So, in this episode, Josiah revealed that he has a twin named Keziah. They both escaped from the Beardsleys, who apparently abused the both of them. But without their right papers, the twins were not really free. So, of course, Jamie and Claire just had to save the day and take it upon themselves to go to the Beardsleys and pay for their indenture. Also, Jamie left Roger in charge while he’s gone. It’s funny to see Roger try to lead the men. It’s not his fault by all means – after all, this was not his time and he has zero knowledge how to lead these soldiers.
At the Beardsleys, Jamie and Claire found out that Mr. Beardsley was incredibly injured and at the brink of death, while Mrs. Beardsley was pregnant and admitted that she’s slowly torturing her husband because he used to physically abuse her. Claire helped Mrs. Beardsley give birth, only to find out that the baby was dark-skinned, which meant it wasn’t Mr. Beardsley’s child. The next morning, the missus was out of the house (wow, that recovery!), leaving her newborn baby in Jamie and Claire’s care. Jamie then faced a tough decision to euthanize Mr. Beardsley, who wanted his pain to end. Something tells me that this is going to be an important thing in the future...
#11: Episode 5 - Perpetual Adoration
Tumblr media
Also not a bad episode, to be honest. In this episode, we get another flashback of Claire’s time in the 60s. This time, she’s seen treating a patient by the name of Graham Menzies. Sounds familiar? I’ve read that it’s a nod to Graham McTavish and Tobias Menzies – two of my favorite actors from the earlier seasons. Loved that reference to them; I also miss seeing them in this show! (But maybe Tobias as Frank because I could not, for the life of me, handle another Black Jack Randall shenanigan, even just in a flashback.) Well, this particular patient was actually Claire’s reason to finally go back to Scotland with Bree. It got a bit philosophical in the flashbacks, too! Also, Claire was able to make penicillin out of 18th century materials. Is there anything that this woman couldn’t do?
Jamie, on the other hand, was catching up with Lieutenant Knox, where the lieutenant told him that he’s going to pardon the Regulators, except Murtagh. This left Jamie no choice but to kill Knox – also because he has a list of Ardsmuir prisoners and as you all know, Jamie’s one of them. Pretty sad about Knox, though. He really trusted Jamie and he seemed like an okay guy. But he had to die!
Bree and Roger also had some problems in this episode. Roger finally found out about what happened with Stephen Bonnet and Bree before they tried to blew up the jail cell the previous season. Roger obviously (but not understandably hmpf) got mad but eventually changed his mind when Claire reassured him that it’s going to be all right. I’m not a big fan of Roger (let’s just get that out of the way), and his reaction in this particular episode. For the sake of drama, I guess.
Also, a new pet is in town! Adso finally made his first appearance at the end of this episode. He’s such a cute wee thing.
#10: Episode 2 - Between Two Fires
Tumblr media
One of my favorite things in Outlander is when Claire flaunts her medical knowledge to the 18th century people. I love seeing their expressions, especially when they try to mentally calculate if this woman is a genius or a witch. Sadly, in this episode, there’s one patient Claire couldn’t save because it was too late. This seemed to unravel something in her. It’s devastating to lose a patient, especially when he/she could still be saved. But, even though she’s an expert healer, some people wouldn’t listen to her because she’s not an actual physician. So, Claire decided to make up “Dr. Rawlings.”
Also, I love that Claire picked Marsali as an apprentice! I really loved her character even from Season 3, and I was hoping to get more scenes with her in Season 4. But it was only in this season that her character shined brightly. Marsali was weirded out at first, obviously, but with Claire’s guidance, she’s good to go.
All away from Fraser’s Ridge, Jamie and Lieutenant Knox are fighting off Regulators. While confronting three prisoners, Knox lost his temper and accidentally killed one. At nightfall, Jamie helped the other two to escape. I love Jamie whenever he’s trying to be a hero and all, but sometimes, it just worries too much that he’s always stepping it up. Well, he’s the King of Men, I guess.
The ending of this episode was horrifying and intense because we see Stephen Bonnet, fully alive and plotting evil. I hate him so much, but Ed Speelers is an amazing actor.
#09: Episode 9 - Monsters and Heroes
Tumblr media
Despite having this episode in the bottom part of the list, I just want to say that Sam Heughan was amazing in this episode. His acting was top-notch, and I find myself, once again, questioning the awards committee why they haven’t given him an award. Yes, give me more scenes of him writhing in pain!
This episode was highly intense, but it felt almost too draggy. Jamie and company were out hunting when they decided to split up. Jamie and Roger went together, and Jamie was bitten by a venomous snake. Roger tried to look for the others but to no avail. So they decided to camp for the night, in which Jamie told Roger that if he does not survive, it must be him who’s going to kill Stephen Bonnet for him.
Which absolutely no makes sense! Not the killing of Bonnet, but Jamie not surviving. He survived tons of other crap in his life, and I cannot believe he’s dying from a freaking snake. It just does not makes sense. Can you just imagine if he really died? Like a small snake ended Jamie Fraser’s life? It’s just heartbreaking.
The next day, Roger tried dragging Jamie with him while looking for the others. They were eventually found, and they brought him to Claire so she can fix him up. But not even Claire could even save him. The only thing she needs is her syringe, which was destroyed by friggin Lionel Brown (which, let me tell you, is the worst character to ever come out in this season). When Jamie found out his bite was way serious than he ever imagined, he told Claire to kill him instead of amputating his venom-filled leg, which broke Claire. Also, Caitriona Balfe’s acting during her conversation with Bree by the stairs was top-notch!
Jamie almost gave up that night, but with some intense body touching, Claire was able to bring him back to life. It was a touching moment, for sure. Get it? Anyway, it was Young Ian who told him to get a grip of himself – it’s just a leg. His father lost a leg and Fergus lost a hand, but they’re still happy and alive.  Which I just want to applause to.
And when all hope seemed lost, it was our little engineer Bree who saved the day! She was able to form a syringe of her own using the tooth of the snake which bit Jamie. Through this, Claire was able to save Jamie’s leg. Yay!
#08: Episode 10 - Mercy Shall Follow Me
Tumblr media
I know I’ve said I haven’t read The Fiery Cross yet, but I have read in tons of posts that the killing of Stephen Bonnet was not part of the aforementioned book; he actually met his demise in the next book. But whatever the reasons why they sped up the process, I want to thank the producers and writers for putting it here in this season. The Bonnet storyline was kind of losing touch and was getting draggy. I’d rather have them focus on new things in the next season.
Jamie, Roger, and Young Ian were putting their plot in motion to kill Bonnet through ambushing him when Bonnet himself failed to show up in the said ambush. That’s because he’s at the beach, following Claire and Bree as they were enjoying the ocean breeze. He eventually knocked Claire unconscious and kidnapped Bree.
Bree woke up to find herself in a dingy and shady place, but she was not kept as a prisoner – or so Bonnet tried to tell her. He told her he wanted to change and they even had this strange role play where they eat dinner and Bree told him the story of Moby Dick. We actually get to know Bonnet’s past in this episode. We learn that he’s deathly afraid of water, for one thing.
It seemed to go all right for Bree until Bonnet told her to kiss him, and when she did, he got the sense that she was faking and lo and behold, he was right. This angered him and even started having sex with a prostitute in front of Bree, which was downright disgusting. Anyway, Ed Speelers is a terrific actor!
Jamie and Claire finally find out where Bonnet’s hiding Bree through that prostitute to whom Bonnet was having sex with. Bonnet, fed up with Bree’s ridiculous antics, decided to sell her to a man. But before anything could happen, Jamie, Claire, Roger, and Young Ian were able to save her. Bree was given the choice to end Bonnet’s life, but she decided to give him a fair trial by the government. Bonnet was sentenced to death by drowning, but before he could even die, Bree shot him through the head in a distance. Roger asked her if this was what she wanted or if was to make sure he’s really dead, but Bree was silent, which leaves us to decide what that meant.
I’ve said this before: I wasn’t a fan of Sophie Skelton’s acting, but she definitely improved in this season! She was able to show some emotions and depth in her character. She was unable to convince me before, but she truly made an impact in this season.
#07: Episode 4 - The Company We Keep
Tumblr media
Were you ready to see Jamie Fraser dancing in this episode? Because I sure as hell was not! It was such a delight to see him trotting about while he and Claire smile at each other.
But before we got to that scene, we had to watch Roger painfully lead the men to Brownsville (which is totally an insane and ridiculous name for a village – I know this was in the 18th century, but I hope there were poop jokes about them). Not a minute they stepped foot in this place, everything’s gone to chaos. It turns out Isaiah Morton, one of the men, had some problems with one of the guys in Brownsville. Isaiah apparently “disgraced” Lionel Brown’s daughter, Alicia, by sleeping with her, and now she cannot marry this rich guy her father arranged for her.
Jamie and Claire eventually caught up with them, and were able to free Isaiah by letting him escape and to never show his face there again. Claire finally found a new home for Mrs. Beardsley’s newborn baby in Brownsville, Jamie finally got the Brownsville men to join him in his militia to fight the Regulators, and everyone finally had a good time and partied all night long.
One of my favorite moments in the season was in this episode wherein Jamie told Claire that she looked happy while taking care of the newborn baby. He told her that she looked great as a mother, and it saddened me that he never got to see her as one. Jamie told her if she’s sure to give the baby away because maybe it’s their last chance to raise a baby together. Claire was like, “No,” but she appreciated the thought of it. They’re too old to have a baby again, and she already liked their life together. Even so, that was such a sweet moment for the both of them!
Isaiah decided to return to whisk Alicia away, and then she revealed she’s pregnant with his child. While this all seemed great for them, Jamie and Roger were not happy with Isaiah’s return because it might stir up some trouble. But Isaiah was able to convince them that he truly loved Alicia and wouldn’t they do the same thing for their wives. And that’s how it’s done!
#06: Episode 8 - Famous Last Words
Tumblr media
A very unique and creative episode. I think I haven’t seen an episode quite like this before, and it’s such a breath of fresh air. I like what the concept of showing the events like a silent film in comparison to what Roger’s facing.
Richard Rankin was amazing in this episode. I think he really delivered well in showing Roger’s trauma and stress after his horrific ordeal. Roger is actually so beaten up in Outlander; it’s really devastating. Last season, he was taken by the Mohawks, and now this. And to think, he wasn’t a warrior or anything – he’s only an Oxford man.
Three months after the Battle of Alamance, Roger was still quiet and could not utter a word. Bree was worried about him, and confided to Claire about her roommate’s boyfriend who was shell-shocked after the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, Roger kept reliving his deathly experience in silence. Usually, I’m not a big fan of Roger (as I said earlier) but I feel bad for what his character has gone through.
Also, Young Ian finally came back in this episode! As someone who haven’t read the books, this took me by surprise. I didn’t know he’s returning, but I am so happy that he is! I really love his character. He’s not the same Young Ian as we’ve seen before, though. He was much more mature and fiercer. There are secrets he’s keeping from his family, which we’ll probably find out more in the next season.
It was actually Young Ian who made Roger speak up again (quite just like the way how he was the one who set Jamie straight when he was bitten by the snake). Ian was asked to help Roger check out some land, and the two of them bonded. Ian told him how lucky he was to have his wife and child with him, even though he was thoroughly beaten from the battle. Roger was alive with a family, and to Ian, that seemed to be everything. Roger, in return, also saved Ian from killing himself. I’d like to see more of this duo in the future, please.
#05: Episode 6 - Better To Marry Than Burn
Tumblr media
As soon as the trailer for Season 5 dropped, I’ve heard the words “stable sex” more than once in forums. I didn’t know what it was about – only that involves Jamie and Claire having sex in a stable (obviously). So you could imagine my enthusiasm when I finally see a stable in this episode!
Before that, though, there is a party because Jocasta getting married to some guy who’s not Murtagh. Which is a total loss because I shipped them so hard! We also got to see some flashbacks with Jocasta losing her daughter because of her husband’s cause in the fight against the English long ago.
While mingling with some of the guests, Claire was approached by this ridiculous-looking man called Phillip Wylie, who’s beyond annoying. He flirted with her shamelessly, and she rejected his actions but was immediately interested when she realized he might be the key to capture Stephen Bonnet. But everything got out of hand when he suddenly tried to kiss her. Thankfully, Jamie arrived on time and was able to save her from this man.
But when Claire told him that he might be the answer to the Bonnet problem, Jamie decided to make a gamble with Wylie. Unfortunately, this involved Claire giving up Frank’s ring, which made her unbelievably mad. Later on, when Claire went back to the stables, Jamie drunkenly walked in. Claire’s still angry with him about the rings, but the anger doubled when she found out he was drunk. Jamie told her that he won the bet, and that they should celebrate. There were some fights, then Claire slapped him, and then they kissed and ta-da: stable sex!
Unfortunately, I had high hopes with what the stable sex was going to be and that was not it. I was expecting steamier scenes, but okay, I’ll take this one. It was hilarious, still.
Oh, I almost forgot. Back at Fraser’s Ridge, Bree and Roger fight some some sort of locusts evading the place, just like the ten plagues. But they were able to stop this through some smart science and shit. I couldn’t care less about their plot in this episode; all exciting things happen in River Run at the moment!
But the most heartbreaking thing that ever happened in this episode was Jocasta and Murtagh. The night before the wedding, Murtagh sneaked in Jocasta’s room and begged her not to marry Innes. This broke Jocasta, but still, she couldn’t just run away with Murtagh. She chose a man with a cause before, and she lost her daughter. This woman couldn’t take any heartbreaks anymore, and Murtagh left, heartbroken. And as you know, that would be their last conversation...
#04: Episode 12 - Never My Love
Tumblr media
I thought we can go past one season without anyone getting raped, but here we are. I know this was included in the books, but there were so many changes from book to screen in this season – why couldn’t they changed this one? It was too heartbreaking and sad. I don’t know if it’s unnecessary, but I did read one article that said they could’ve just not included that part.
Anyway, this episode was absolutely harrowing and downright terrifying. This show does not shy away from brutal scenes like this, for sure. I am devastated for Claire because she obviously does not deserve that treatment! In her own words, she survived a World War and losing a child. She will not let this one destroy her. But, of course, Claire’s only human and she’s gone through deep trauma in this episode. It’s only fair for her to feel this way.
Lionel Brown (honestly, I hate this guy more than anyone in this season and that includes Stephen Bonnet) kidnapped Claire out of her own home with the help of some other guys, beat her senseless, and even raped her. This really “shookt” me out of my core. It didn’t ruin me like that season finale in Season 1 (which still haunts me to this day) but I am still horrified.
Also, this episode was really creative in showing Claire’s ordeal. It had dream sequences of Claire in 1960s with Jamie and their family celebrating Thanksgiving, with the exception of Bree, Roger, and Jemmy. It included a lot of Easter eggs, such as the vase from the pilot episode and the rabbit from Jamie’s dream in the Battle of Culloden (if I’m not mistaken...?) The production design was also very intricate. The attention to details is brilliant!
Jamie and his men were finally able to save Claire, but she felt ruined. They killed every men in the group, but it seemed like Lionel survived. They took him as a prisoner and brought him to Fraser’s Ridge. Claire was still mending her scars, but she found herself in her clinic with Lionel and Marsali. Yes, she took an oath to do no harm to other people, but do you really expect her to save him from his wounds after what he’s done to her? Hell no! It was too much for her to bear and so she left, crying. It was actually Marsali who ended Lionel’s life with her own hand. Ugh, I love Marsali this season! She was beyond amazing and I love how her character has grown.
This was surely an intense episode, and I love the additional twists of the dream sequence. Caitriona Balfe blew me away in this episode; just give her the Golden Globe and Emmy, please. The final shot of Jamie and Claire is beautiful. One of the best season finales of the show.
#03: Episode 1 - The Fiery Cross
Tumblr media
Season 5 really started strong with this first episode. We had a wedding, dancing, sex, singing, burning crosses, kilts, babies! I love it so much!
Finally, Bree’s getting married to Roger, and her parents are here to see it! It’s a wonderful moment for everyone. I am in love with Bree’s dress and the pearls she’s wearing (which her mother wore in her honeymoon sex with her father, let me just add). The wedding was sweet and lighthearted.
But, of course, this is Outlander and we’re not here to have a good time – there’s always something we’re fighting off. In the very first episode, Lord John Grey confided in Jamie that Stephen Bonnet might be alive, which Bree overheard. This was her wedding night, people, give her a rest! Of course, she was visibly shaken, but she kept the information to herself. Also, Tryon was pressuring Jamie to join forces with him and fight for The Crown.
In addition, there were a love-making montage while the L-O-V-E song was being played in the background. Out of place, for sure, but sweet nonetheless. Murtagh and Jocasta managed to sneak in the woods and have some time for themselves. Jamie and Claire were in charge with Jemmy for the night, but that didn’t stop them from getting some action themselves. And, of course, the married couple Bree and Roger finally had a proper honeymoon.
Remember when Tryon was pressuring Jamie to gather some men to fight for The Crown? Well, Jamie faced an impossible decision because obviously he does not want to hunt down his godfather Murtagh. But he can’t also betray Tryon because he doesn’t want to lose his land. And so, he finally gave in and lit the fiery cross, calling the men to fight with him. He included Roger, and even gave him the title of “Captain.” Weird flex, but okay.
This was entirely a good start for a good season. I even watched it twice when it first came out because I was so excited!
#02: Episode 11 - Journeycake
Tumblr media
One of the best Outlander episodes, and this one totally made me cry. I hate goodbyes, but Outlander does it best. This episode was also written by the original author herself, Diana Gabaldon. My expectations were high, of course, and she definitely did not disappoint!
Now that Stephen Bonnet is gone and that they have confirmed that Jemmy can travel through the stones, there’s no reason for Bree and Roger to stay any longer. Bree has already delivered the cryptic message to her parents that they will die in the fire. So, she and Roger decided to leave, especially that there’s a Revolutionary War coming on.
Also, Young Ian finally knows about the truth about Claire, Bree, and Roger – they are time travelers from the future. About time, actually! He deserved to know the truth long time ago. But something’s weird: Ian actually wanted to go through the stones himself, too. I have no idea why, but it’s probably going to be about his time with the Mohawks (which I’m totally looking forward to know about in the next season).
Also, there’s a hot sex scene with Claire and Jamie in this episode, which totally makes up for that awkward, rushed stable sex from the other episode. It involved Jamie going down on Claire while she’s sitting by the window pane. It’s daring and steamy! Trust Diana Gabaldon to perfect that scene.
Before Bree and Roger leave, they said their goodbyes to everyone first. Marsali even admitted that she sees Bree as a sister, which breaks my heart, because they totally deserve more screen time together! Lizzie also tearfully said her goodbye to her mistress Bree, and it’s quite heartbreaking because all this time, she thought she’s coming along with them as well. Poor Lizzie.
Claire also made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as her last meal for Bree and Roger. I don’t know how she was able to make peanut butter and jelly with 18th century resources, but I do know that it was painstakingly hard so kudos to Claire for her dedication in making the perfect PB&J sandwich! Jamie’s reaction was totally hilarious, too!
When Bree and Roger finally left (but for some reason, they couldn’t go through the stones – more explanation maybe in the next season), Claire and Jamie were finally left alone in Fraser’s Ridge. While Claire and Marsali were tending on a patient, Jamie and some of his men checked out some commotion. However, this was only a ploy for Lionel Brown and his men to kidnap Claire straight from her home. It’s terrifying, and I didn’t like what happened next.
#01: Episode 7 - The Ballad of Roger Mac
Tumblr media
The major highlight of the season! I was ready to get hurt in this episode, but damn, nothing prepared me for what was about to happen.
The whole episode reminded me of the Prestonpans episode from Season 2. Jamie was fighting with his men in the Battle of Alamance, while Claire was tending the patients. Ah, but before that, let’s celebrate Jamie Fraser’s fiftieth birthday! I don’t know how this guy is 50, but he is. He and Claire *cough* did some celebrating of their own before shit went down in the fight.
While all the others were preparing for the fight, Bree was staying with Aunt Jocasta when she finally realized that the fight was going to take place in Alamance Creek. This made her remember an importance piece of history. The militia will win, and the Regulators will lose. Of course, she took it upon herself to warn her parents. Thankfully, Bree has inherited her mother’s memory cells.
Roger eventually volunteered to be the one to tell Murtagh and his men that they were doomed to fail, and Jamie let him. This was going on pretty smoothly, and Roger was able to tell Murtagh what he came for. Unfortunately, he ran into someone he knew (that woman he met in the ship from Season 4) and they were caught in a harmless innocent hug by the woman’s husband. The husband was none other than William Mackenzie, played by Graham McTavish! While it’s good to see him in the series again, I am pissed because they beat up Roger.
Meanwhile, Jamie was forced to wear a redcoat uniform, which was just downright offensive. Jamie’s entire life was dedicated to fighting off redcoats, and now he’s one of them. It truly broke my heart to see him like that. You just know he’s struggling and trying to keep his senses.
In the battle, Jamie was fighting with some Regulator when Murtagh himself showed up and saved him. There were some smiles; however, it was cut short when Murtagh was shot by one of Jamie’s militia men. Jamie tried to save him, and even dragged Murtagh back to Claire so she could save him, but it was all too late. And I am broken. I was crying when I was watching this episode, and it just broke me. Murtagh was one of my favorite characters, and I was so happy they brought him back last season. But now... I’m just broken. When the fight was over, Jamie took off the redcoat and just smashed it down in front of Tryon. This man was just fed up!
But while this was going on, Bree was worrying about Roger, as he still haven’t showed up after going to the Regulators. So, she, Claire, and Jamie tried looking for him. They finally came upon a tree with three men hanging on a tree with sacks over their heads; they were left to die. Jamie recognized Roger to be one of them because of the white handkerchief on his pocket that he had given to him earlier.
This was really a good episode, and hats off to Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s acting. They were superb. Oh, as well as Duncan Lacroix, who I really admired as Murtagh! It’s so sad to see him leave the show!
***
Well, there you have it! My ranking of Season 5 episodes. I hope you had as much fun as I did with Outlander this season. It was incredibly fun, and a huge improvement from previous season. Tell me what you think!

Home, Hearth and Magic - The Swiss Witch Trials
Tumblr media
While researching my book “The Magic Within Us,” I ended up going down a few rabbit holes as I researched: meaning, I started out looking up something, and ended up doing several really long, late deep-dives.  The story that got the most research was the “My Favorite Story” segments.   "My Favorite Story" is about a book that becomes whatever you would like it to be, to lure you in with beautiful imagery, and a storyline you feel like you must read.
As Helena told her friends in the staff room when they asked her about it, “From what I was told, it…changes itself.  It can become any book you want it to be.  If you loved Egyptology, it would be the most amazing, beautiful book on Egyptology you’d ever seen.  If you loved romance stories, it would be the best one you’d ever read.  No matter what the subject, to you, the cover would be exquisite.  The characters and everything about it is meant to draw you in; to make you want to be part of the book.”Outside of the book, it’s the current day; here and now.  What the book becomes is determined by the person who picks it up.  By the fourth and final segment, a powerful witch is lured into the book, and the glamour that changes the book into literally anything fails, and you see the inside of the book from the perspective of Evelyn, the modern-day witch, who sees it in the same way that those trapped within it see it.  It is a powerful glamour of 15th century Fribourg, Switzerland, which was the last time the protagonist, Rodrick, saw it with his own eyes. This meant I did quite a bit of research on 15th century Switzerland; particularly the Cantons of Valais and Fribourg.
There’s a reason that Rodrick is from when and where he is.  Switzerland is where the witch trials as we know them first occurred.  Prior to Valais and Fribourg, there were towns throughout Europe where witches might have got themselves into a jam, but the Church mostly saw it as individual beliefs that needed to be corrected.  It didn’t always end in a witch burning on a pyre.
That’s where Valais and Fribourg come in.  In Valais, in the year 1428, there was an actual ‘witch-hunt.’  It was the original witch hunt, meaning a systematic campaign and Inquisition by and through the Church to find witches.  To set our scene, in the years prior to the first Swiss witch trials, there had been a great deal of political upheaval in this part of Switzerland.   In the ten years before, people you used to be friends with and knew might very well not be friendly anymore, sitting instead on the opposite side of a political divide.  Peace came eventually, but trust took a lot longer: the man who sold you bread today might have been someone who burned down your house ten years before.  In the midst of the mistrust, soon every bad thing that occurred needed someone to blame it on.  Soon, neighbors were charging neighbors of sorcery and witchcraft, as well as murder, heresy, and being in pact with the devil.
When an Inquisitor came to a town, all the residents were given a 40-day grace period to get right with God and Church.  At the end of the 40 days, every person in town was called in and interviewed, about themselves, and about others that might be heretics.  If accused, a person was to be put in jail, and their goods confiscated. According to the official proclamation, all it took for a person to be arrested and imprisoned was the talk of three or four neighbors.  To be tortured, only five to ten neighbors were required to speak against a person, or by as few as three people if they had already been tried and sentenced to death.  As in other parts of Europe that would happen later, the accusations leveled against others ran the gamut of all the ills that could likely befall the people of a town.  Neighbors accused one another of everything from causing lameness, blindness, madness, miscarriage, impotence and infertility, to even killing and turning babies into “newborn juice”, reputed to give you all the knowledge of witchcraft, instantly.  Some were even accused of being werewolves or shapeshifters in addition to being witches.
For a hundred years, life was turned on its’ head in Switzerland.  If a person was married to someone accused of witchcraft, they had to swear an oath that they had no knowledge of it, or their property would be confiscated.  If the accused was a vassal to a noble, the noble had to pay for the imprisonment, but if the person burned, the noble was awarded the property in question. Fribourg was one of the first places where the secular government and the church were in cahoots, and prosecuted witches jointly.  Not so surprisingly, usually either the local government or the church ended up with the property of those who were tortured. In the early days of the witch trials in Switzerland, it was possible to admit guilt, recant and go back to life as usual. By the end, that wasn’t possible.  At some point, it became a moneymaking venture, and the powers-that-be realized prosecuting witches (whether they really were witches or not) was profitable; if a person confessed, they were burned as a heretic.  If they didn’t confess, they were tortured until they did.  Whether a person confessed or not, they lost everything, and met their end either in a dark, dank cell, were tortured to death, burned or crucified.
Something did separate these witch trials from their counterparts that occurred elsewhere later in Europe. Curiously enough, half to two-thirds of those accused/executed in Switzerland were men. Later on, throughout Europe, but particularly England, France and Scotland, the targets would be women who didn’t fit in so well, who lived on the edges and margins of society, or made a habit of speaking their minds.
Writing this, I realized something funny.  "The Magic Within Us" included a series of four stories whose protagonist was current to the first of the witch trials in Switzerland.  One of the stories in my upcoming book “The Magic Around Us” has me now researching the Bideford witch trials, where some of the last witches were put to death in England.  I guess I’m not through with witch trials yet.
The exact amount of how many were killed as witches is unknown.  Low-end guesses are 40,000-50,000.  Others say maybe as high a number as 1 to 2 million.  Others say higher still.  Whether you go with the higher numbers or the lower numbers, someone will argue it.  I try not to think so much on how many people were accused and died.  I try to remember that while we know the names of some of the men and women who died, there were many, many more who are nameless, faceless, and lost to history.  Many likely weren’t witches, and were probably guilty of nothing other than being female, outspoken, old, or unpopular.  May we remember those who died, even as we are free to embrace who we are today.  May we never take that freedom for granted.
