ok. so. to distance themselves from the poor memories, but to save money, ivy and her mother moved to springhill, temporarily sharing ivy’s aunt’s apartment while her mother began collecting enough money to buy an apartment of their own and keep it.

during this time, ivy was seeing a lot of people and she didn’t know why! they asked questions about her mental health, but she didn’t know why! i mean, totally not traumatic, right?

yes. instead of managing communication well, she became very fascinated by the concept of death. she had many questions about it, she, a youth, had some extended conversations with clergymen about it –– she never killed any animals, god forbid, but she was absolutely fascinated when she ran across them.

SO CLEARLY THAT WAS ALSO TRYING TO BE DEALT WITH.

ok, i’m gonna skip ahead a little. now in teen years and still fascinated by death, but in a healthier way!, and no longer in therapy because... like... that costs a lot of money!

she dealt with it the best she could. became enamored with music... because why wouldn’t she? some covers here and there, some originals here and there, living that youtube lyf, but not expecting anything to come of it. just liked validation! mood!

she also dealt with it the worst she could! became enamored with drugs! naturally, it started out small. some weed, some lsd, some molly –– you know, just drugs that you don’t typically think of as addictive. although her grades suffered, it was harmless enough...

upon graduating high school, she figured... no college. instead, with barely any money to her name, she was like “i... will go to new york... and i will become famous.”

and she did! she did go to new york! she found a few sketchy places that didn’t charge much for a few nights as she began networking - both socially and “i would like to be known for music” (i literally just forgot the word for networking like..... employment wise.... y’all i’m so dumb). when she’d made some friends, she began crashing on couches that were not quite as sketchy!

but :\ she did meet these friends in sketchy places :\ and they were like “ok here r some new and more addictive drugs for u to try!”

what she wound up abusing using the most was desoxyn. it kept her awake, it kept her focused, it even shed a few pounds to create an excellent figure! what wasn’t to love!

i mean it’s literally a prescription methamphetamine,,, when abused,,, literally almost exact same effects as meth,,, but when meth mouth, skin lesions, acne, etc aren’t occurring as a side effect? who was she to care!

20, she released an actual ep with the help of a super cool friend who made everyone call him puppy mills! wow! things were excellent! it wasn’t necessarily seeing mainstream traction, but there was a decent enough following! enough to release an album at 22!

perfect timing, btw! desoxyn was starting to become too expensive for puppy to afford and trying to fake having such a severe form of adhd that desoxyn would be prescribed as opposed to something like ritalin or adderal when it’s literally illegal to prescribe in some countries now?? too hard :\ but the money from the album helped her and puppy!

she was there for it too. she thought it was just a freak-out, took a LITTLE too much, but not OVERDOSE worthy... then he l i t e r a l l y died. and it was a painful death!

“oh wow! maybe prescription meth isn’t super cool after all! shucks!” but that was also an opening?? to visit death herself?? like... she didn’t necessarily want to die (sort of), but she wanted... an answer to the question that had plagued her her entire life... so she was like “ok hope i die then someone revives me but if i die then :\ i guess i die!”

did not die. but also did not get a satisfying answer to her question. the only way it would’ve been truly satisfying? if she had been dead for longer than a minute - then it would’ve given a definite answer! because the answer she received was just nothingness which, while peaceful... is it true?

she tried to detox alone, what because rehab is a business, and it... only... sort of worked. she would be clean for a few weeks, then fall back in, then clean for a few weeks, then fall back in. whenever she wasn’t just naturally focused and awake, or whenever what she was focused on was the past, she would fall back in.

i mean, a side effect is memory loss, so win/win!

she made the semi-wise decision to move back to springhill. wisest would’ve been to just move to a town/city she had absolutely no memories in, but better than moving back to newark!

so... without much to show, and with an unreliable streak, she knew she wouldn’t be able to start looking for much of an occupation – but she still needed money! so she began working at don’t fret out of a love for music, then began working at the animal shelter after completing training.

the main training was, of course, for putting animals to sleep.

Now, what do have here? If youre familiar with the book, youll recognize that there is Greg Heffley the middle, the protagonist of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Who am I, you may ask? Well, I am the colleague and best buddy of the world famous Frank Griffin. Ah, now that I'm mentioning him, all the memories are flooding back. Whenever there was a cringe nae nae meme, a darn millennial or even a bruh moment, we stuck together. And after decades of friendship he eventually offered me a dream come true: A job in the Meme Explaining Laboratory! So, now I'm here explaining a few memes here and there (Frank does the over- whelming majority of them, though) and, more importantly, critically analysing his very own explanations, because nothing is perfect! It's, compared to the usual Internet posts, very text-heavy. However this isn't a big surprise since both of us know how much Frank can dive into a subject. He puts a photo of himself in the top left corner below the image he's analyzing, and his text is written solely in the "WimpyKid" font, which already is my first problem. It may have been suitable if it was used in a short paragraph or two, but using it in an entire explanation is a major design flaw. However, this is not the only problem I have with Frank's text, (Don't take it personally, bucko) which brings me to analyzing the content of his explanation, and his ultimate message near the bottom end. Okay, I'll be honest. I don't like the message. His main part of the analysis may have been on the better side, in comparision to his other posts, but this time Frank really shot himself in his cock and balls this time. Saying that "Meme humour is overtaking regular humour" is overly dramatizising and simply putting in a wrong light what is really going on inside the meme creation scene. Frank, I'm sorry to tell it to ya, but a near-sudden cultural shift in humour is not going to happen, pal. What is really happening is that younger kids like to distance themselves from older generations as much as possible, may it be via clothing, music politics or, in this case, humour. Most teenagers eventually just grow out of their phase of shutting themselves off of older people. That eventually happens either when they marry, or when they enter their 30's. I am not saying that a and progressing culture is bad, however it's a lie to say those teens will keep their culture with them as they grow old. Just take hippies, as am example Some of you may remember them promoting peace and other values, and generally having a very liberal mindset. Now, who were those hippies? This answer may be a suprise to you, but those hippies were (mostly) boomers. Yup, the same generation that is nowadays known for being notoriously authoritarian and close-minded. People can change. And those who laugh about their memes now will probably change too, once they reach a certain age. The only thing in favor of Frank's argument is the existence of the Internet. Although that argument isn't that much of a punch when considering the very likely possibility that another game changing form of media will probably pop up within the next few decades. Memes will simply not prevail, or they will be warped beyond recognition (Not as in becoming more abstract and surreal (which is also a very widely spread belief about Memes)), by having different unwritten rules for Memes. If a time traveler from 2011 saw a changing modern meme page from today, they wouldn't think those memes would be funny or should even be called memes. What we call memes now, will be forgotten in the future. To cut it short, memes will not have a major effect on culture, nor will they even be remembered in 20+ years. One more thing. Frank stated that Greg Heffley was saying "Actually, it's only a purse!" in the Meme he explained. That is incorrect, though. Greg says "Actually, it's a purse!" without the "only". I think it's highly unprofessional that he tries to deeply analyze a meme and then doesn't even quote the text correctly. It makes me feel like Frank is just doing this for the fame and money by focussing on dramaticising viewpoints instead of being scientifically accurate. This is probably the true reason Bethany left him and took the kids. Not because she "loved Chad more instead of a nice man like me", as Frank said, but because she can't stand him becoming increasingly narcissistic and delusional about his fame anymore. It's actually sickening me how he is cutting of more and more of his friends and family and doesn't even care for fans either. I know I will probably be fired by Frank for publishing this, but the problem is only turning bigger and bigger with no sight of him changing his ways. Frank should honestly take a break from his job and go visit his kids again. After all, he never bothered to see them once Bethany "took them away" from him. He can visit his children anytime he wants to, but he rather likes to work on another money milking machine again (which is ironically the reason the kids chose Bethany.) Alright, it's time to end this text. Looking back at it, it seems like it's 1/3 explanation, 1/3 critique and 1/3 open letter. I planned this to just be an extension of Frank's analysis and another lie about how we are getting along just fine, but now it turned into a half-agressive rant about him. But I just had to vent my frustations about my buddy. I know he hasa heart somewhere down below his thick skull, but for now it's simply how I and everyone else close to him perceive Frank. Richie absolutely always looks forward to Tuesdays. The local movie theater puts on shows on discounted prices and it's probably Richie's favorite event of any week.

He can't wait to one day maybe even work at the Aladdin, though he can't exactly do that at ten years old. All he can do is see as many movies as his time and budget gives him the opportunity to.

This week the theme of all the movies played is horror, and he can't help but be filled with a nervous adrenaline whenever he thinks of the zombies and the werewolves on screen. He's decided to bring Bill with him, of course.

Bill has likely already emptied his piggy bank completely for this week, horror being his signature genre ever since before Richie had even met him. He doesn't know how the kid does it without getting scared shitless every time, he gives his friend mad props for his bravery even though it's not facing something something real, only sfx and sound machines.

Richie realizes one thing as he's getting ready for his trip to the movies with his fearless best friend. He doesn't have the tickets and he'd just spent his last few dollars on snacks that they'd sneak in in baggy trouser shorts.

He huffs the himself, he told Bill he'd take on the money because Bill is broke enough as is with all his impulsive spending. Richie looks himself in the mirror, chewing his lip, he'll have to ask his father.

He puts on his most innocent face, looking himself in the mirror, then deciding it looks too fake and menacing.

He holds the expression, ducking out of the bathroom to the kitchen where his father sits and reads the paper most days. "Faaaather?" Richie prompts, drawing his words out in a light and airy tone.

Went lifts his glasses up on his nose, having had them tilted down to read the paper. He refuses to think he needs bifocals, he sees it as a sign that he's getting much too old and he has no desire to acknowledge it. "Richard?" He says on a disdainful voice that he reserves simply for his banter with Richie.

"Iiiiiii, don't have any movie money," Richie says, sliding into the dining chair next to Went. He leans his chin in his hand, "Can I borrow some?" He asks, blinking his eyes in his dad's direction sweetly.

"Hm, I'll have to think about it," Wentworth says suspiciously. He folds his paper up again, placing it in middle of the dining room table. "I might have twenty dollars to spare," he says with a fiendish grin that shows he's not finished yet. "If you have time to do the dishes for the next week," he bargains.

Richie quickly nods, throwing his hand in front of his father to shake on it, "I can agree on that, you mighty fine fellow of a father, you," he says in a teasing voice as he shakes his father's hand with almost all of his strength, pulling the hand to his face to press a joking kiss to the top of Went's palm that makes his old man laugh.

Richie skips off to find his worn Nike sneakers, slipping them on with the laces still tightly tied from last time, and several many times before. He goes back to his father, "I seem to have realized that I didn't take the money," he says, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck sheepishly, his excitement always gets the better of him and often makes him forget.

Went chuckles, pulling his faux leather wallet out of his pocket to fish out a crisp 20 dollar Bill to hand to his son, "Don't waste it, and don't drop it on the ground, and make sure to be polite to the teens who work there, y'hear?" His father lists off, reminding him all his "movie seeing" rules. Maggie and Went want to engrain manners into him, but they still can't seem to get him to sit still.

Richie holds the bill up to the light jokingly, "Hm, doesn't seem to be counterfeit, I'll trust you for now," he says with a joking wink to his dad before slipping off to the front door again.

His bike is leaned precariously on the mailbox as if it's for sale because Richie doesn't always think through his parking, but it hasn't done him wrong yet so he sees no need to stop until he gets one stolen.

He hops up and swings his leg over the seat happily and starts pedaling playfully, purposefully wobbling on and off the grass from the road. He can't help but lose his breath easily, not having the best stamina despite his somewhat fit looking frame, though looks can deceive.

He finally rides up the Denbrough driveway, seeing Georgie pop up in the living room window and seeing his expression change as he yells up to Bill in his room, then he sees his friend come into view shuffling quickly down the stairs.

Richie smiles to himself, pushing his glasses up on his nose to seem even just a pinch more decent looking, though Bill knows how he is, he can't help the slight insecurity with his appearance. His massive overbite, his rat's nest mop of hair, especially his freckles. To many they're beautiful and he agrees when he sees them on someone else, but to him they just further blemish his acne ridden skin.

Bill comes out the front door finally with a sweatshirt tied around his waist and a flannel over a t-shirt for a band that Richie will never understand why he likes. Bill smiles kindly at him, an expression he only seems to meet with his established close relationships, everyone else seems to be automatically irritated by his mere presence.

He can feel the comment linger on his tongue even before it comes out, "Lookin' hot, Billiam, what? Is this a date?" He teases, riding up to Bill who is mounting his own bike.

"Ew, beep beep, R-richie," Bill says, sticking his tongue out at his friend as he kicks up his kickstand and rolls freely down the driveway, not pedaling until he hits the place where the blacktop of his driveway hits the road, "Keep up i-if you can, Lover boy!" Bill jokes.

"Fuck you!" Richie shouts back, pedaling furiously after him, though not succeeding. He may not win every race, but he does win by having the best friends.

Is all Charles Xavier feel as he managed to stroll to the rooftop of a skyscraper. He could only stare at the darkened clouds in the sky and sighs.

This time, it sounds more like a teen.

Charles could only frown at the familiarity. Suddenly his mind brought up memories from the past he sworn to forget.

He remembered the bruises he gained from his stepfather and his step siblings, from daily beating, torture, experiments and taunts.

At least you have your loving family waiting for you at home with dinner, right?” Charles responded, tears watering as thoughts of his family grew.

The teen could only cry, muttering, “I’m hungry..” and let himself fall. As Charles hurried to the edge, the teen disappeared.

Ever since those encounters, he kept encountering people with the same features, yet aging slowly. They would tell him the story of his problems, and in return, he saved them from their doom. (More like they disappeared on him, but it’s close.)

As he carried all the healing hearts, he couldn’t help but to feel his broken heart. Even with all the people he encountered, he couldn’t find someone with similar problems.

And with that, the routine continues.

He stopped at the sight before him, eyes widened.

There stood a figure, bandage wrapped around his neck and arms, wearing a yellow cardigan. His features are the same, blue eyes, brown hair, pale skin.

Eerily similar to his.

Before he could say anything, the figure muttered.

“I endured all pains of betrayal, abandonment and the scars of failures. I failed to make peace, I failed to save my only best friend, I failed to keep them safe. I failed at everything I do. Which is why, I came here to erase everything. Such a stupid reason, don’t you think?” The figure faced him, his face wore a tired smile.

Charles could only gape at the figure. He doesn’t even know why he said it, but he unconsciously said it before he could stop himself.

“Don’t do it. Please..”

The figure could only smile as tears flew down Charles’ face.

He could remember all the failures he made. He failed to keep his students safe, he failed to reconcile with Raven, he failed to make Erik stay, he failed to be the best friend he needed.

He failed everything.

His situation is so similar to his, he felt like he doesn’t even deserve to stop him.

Growing up and being a teenager is hard enough, but it is even harder when you have got a million things going on! Friends, family, boy troubles, and even dentists visits do not make being a teenager any easier. In Raina Telgemeier’s Smile, the reader is taken through Raina’s journey through all of her struggles, and is reminded that sometimes all you have to do is smile!

Evaluation of Book

Through reading Raina Telgemeier’s Smile, one of the traits that is seen within the illustration is the illustrator’s ability to create depth with detail. I think it is important to highlight just how beautiful the colors are within the illustration and how the colors work together to create the depth that the reader is able to see. For most of the book, Raina is seen having conversations, and in times that she is not, the reader is able to read what Raina is narrating. One of the biggest examples of depth within detail comes towards the end when Raina is at her high school dance. The two pages of pictures have no text, all you see is Raina and her new group of friends having an amazing time dancing, and at the bottom the rest of the events that are happening within the dance, and the reader can just see how different Raina is looking in comparison to the beginning of the book. Through the depth in detail, the reader is able to really go Raina’s journey with her and the reader really feels invested in the story, hoping that she will find the joy and confidence to smile and be happy with herself.

Another trait illustrated is understatement. There are various examples within the book where the text is depicting something different than what the character might be expressing. An example of this is when Raina is at Juan’s party and everyone is playing “Spin the Bottle.” Everyone is excited to be participating, except Raina. From the illustrations, it is clear that something is going on that is making her not want to be a part of the game. Later on, it is revealed in the text that Raina does not want her first kiss to say it was “gross” kissing her, and she does not want any of the “ugly boys” that are there to be her first kiss. There are various instances aside from this one where the reader does not need explicit text to put pieces together on how Raina is feeling or what is going on with her.

This book was a fun read, primarily because the dialogue in the book makes it so easy to follow. It is not until you are reaching the end of the book that you realize that you have been with Raina through 6th grade, and now she is at her first high school dance! So much happens throughout the book, so many events that are monumental for anyone, however the dialogue that is present makes it so much easier and relatable to follow. There is a specific scene in the book where Raina is describing how perfect the day is, then an earthquake happens. Everything that is depicted, from Raina’s mom’s reaction, to her siblings, to even then worrying about her father are all relatable and told in a dialogue that the reader can keep up with. Through it all, you really forget that through everything Raina is going through because the reader is consumed on everything and everyone that Raina is meeting in her life.

While reading this book, I felt all types of emotions. This book reminded me of being in middle school and having braces, it reminded me of my first time I had a crush, and I was ALSO in band (I played the clarinet though), and it reminded me just how annoying my little sisters were while I was going through all the struggles of becoming a teenager. I think one of the reasons this book is such a wonderful read is because you really do go through a journey with the character. While reading, I do feel like I got to see Raina grow up and become a much happier version of herself. One of my favorite parts in the book is when she finally stands up to her friends after they pull her skirt down. She finally realizes that those are not real friends- they have been treating her negatively for so long, and she distances herself from them. Ultimately it works out for the best because then she makes new even better friends! It is really easy to get consumed in the story and for the reader to connect, as so many of these events have happened to most of us.

I think it is important for books like these to be out there, because even though the book takes place a long time ago, a lot of these events are relatable to children and teens now. Raina is such a relatable teen for many kids and teens out there, but perhaps the best part of the whole story is that she gets through it! For many children, going to middle school, having their first crush, getting braces, getting acne, it is all too much! It is nice for there to be books that are able to depict a person that has gone through it. Sure, it was not easy, and she literally lost two teeth in the process, but she gets through it and even has moments where she does enjoy school and everything else. In my opinion, it is so much harder being a teen now than it was when I was a teen- having positive role models can be helpful and even characters in literature than can be relatable.

As a whole, I think this is a wonderful book. I think there are so many subjects and topics that are touched that you really do not notice it, until you are towards the end and you realized “oh, what a journey it has been!” I personally think this book has a lot of detail and other wonderful qualities that make it a great read. At my current library, children are always trying to get their hands on one of Raina Telgemeier’s books- and I can see why. With a character like Raina it is so easy to feel like you get what she is going through. I think this is a great book for kids or teens to read.

Conclusion

Overall, I enjoyed reading Raina Telgemeier’s Smile. The book has so many wonderful qualities, from the colorful pictures, to the engaging dialogue, it is a book that is relatable to any teen at any part of their teen years. Also, I think there is so much more content than just Raina’s story about her braces that makes it appealing to readers. I would give this book five out of five stars.

Seeing the illustrations I get the same type of feeling. In addition, the texture is evident within the character’s faces. An example of this is Rose’s mom. She does not look old, neither does her dad. However because of the texture in the illustration, you can see that there has been aging maybe because of some stress that she has encountered. It is not until later in the book that the reader finds out that she had a miscarriage last year, and going back to Awago reminds her of it.

A trait that is seen within the writing is precise vocabulary. One of my favorite parts in the book is when Windy always questions things. She always questions things or events with the precise vocabulary- at the end of the day all she wants is an answer! Also, the entire story is written in a way where the vocabulary makes the story easy to understand and follow. One of the things that is hard to believe is that the entire book takes place in the span of one summer. A lot of events occur within that time and it does not feel like it because most of the events occur within the span of watching horror movies, going to the beach, and just Rose hanging out with Windy. The fact that the words are easy to follow along with the illustration, makes this a story that is a fun read.

Response

One of the ways that I was able to relate to the story is by the dynamic that the main character, Rose, has with her father. It is very clear from the beginning that Rose and her father have a very close relationship and she is very upset when he leaves because of an argument with her mom. I remember growing up I was very close to my father. I would always prefer to go do things with him than with my mom. Reading and seeing the character in the story be similar, really brought me back to that time. Another way in which I related to the story was just remembering what summers were like growing up. I personally never went to any specific location, however I remember just repeating the same action over and over and it almost made you dread the summers. Reading about Rose and Windy’s summer reminded me of just being bored doing the same thing, but still- being thankful that you were not in school!

Having books like this in literature can send out various messages. One of the primary messages it sends is the importance of communication. Throughout the story, there are various times that the characters are not able to communicate effectively and it ultimately ruins their relationship. An example of this is Rose and her mom. They are not able to communicate effectively about their entire situation so it creates a very hostile situation. Another example is the events happening with the Dud (Duncan) and Jenny. Since Jenny becomes pregnant, there is never really a time in the story where her and Duncan talk about the situation. Instead there is always a harsh exchange of words, to the point that she almost drowns. Another message is the importance of family. Personally, I think Rose would have had a much more enjoyable summer had she cleared up the situation with her mom. However, because there were so many emotions that were happening, they did not clear things up until the end, and it is only because Rose overheard the conversation her mom was having with Windy’s mom.

Overall, I do think this book was a good book. I was a bit surprised by the events that occurred throughout the book, however, I noticed quickly that those events were not altering the main characters and their situations. Ultimately, they were trying to have a great summer and leave their problems, but that is not how things work- you cannot run away from your problems. I also enjoyed reading about two really good friends and their summer. It is a wonderful thing to read about two kids that do not go to the same school, but still they remain as friends every summer. Seeing friendships like these definitely sends out a positive message.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed reading This One Summer by Jullian Tamaki, illustrated by Mariko Tamaki. The story was exciting enough to follow as well as the illustrations. Personally, I think I enjoyed the illustrations a lot more than the text, simply because they allowed the story to be elevated to a new level. I would give this book four out of five stars.

Throwaway, hope this is a good place for it and sorry if this gets ramble-y. On some downtime recovering from surgery right now and feeling a little lost so any input appreciated 😊Basically looking for some advice on how to feel/make myself more desirable and actually ‘get out there’ once and for all.Little bit of backstory: was painfully shy as a kid until I started theatre and martial arts that bought me out of my shell a little. Was never a particularly popular kid – I was homeschooled so didn’t have that kind of experience until I hit sixth form college (16 – 18 here in the UK) and my parents always focused on my accomplishments and smarts rather than making a big deal of appearance etc so didn’t get much validation that way. I still live with my parents (long story but I had to quit my job at 21 and start end of life care for a family member and burnt through my savings) and we live pretty remote in the countryside so not many opportunities for nights out and all that.So I (23F) have good days and bad days. I could be worse off: I’m 5’2, used to be super athletic but a little softer round the edges now. Definitely don’t feel ‘pretty’ by any means, but I focus on the things I like (hair, eyes, freckles) and I’ve really worked on accepting who I am and I feel a lot more secure these past two years or so. I’ve only had two proper relationships, a guy when I was 16 (we broke up because he kept giving me shit for my birth control weight gain, had a problem with me ‘always being busy’ and took the piss out of the theatre course I’d worked my arse off for 7 months to get onto – found out a day after we ended it that he’d cheated with 4 other girls and my best friend knew but didn’t tell me… yikes) and a guy I met while waitressing when I was 19 who was physically violent and made a slightly lucky escape from (knocked one of my front canine teeth out which I can only just afford to get fixed so I’ve been awfully conscious of that every time I smile for the last 4 years) and I’ve had basically no other male contact than that. Literally ZERO. I’ve had some undesirable stuff, sure. I’ve been catcalled, touched up on a train, followed around London (NB: I’m absolutely NOT on the ‘men are trash’ train, I love guys, hence the post, maybe it’s just got my guard up a little) but I haven’t dated, slept with, flirted with or had any positive or romantic interaction at all outside of those ex’s. I’m absolutely certain there’s only been one guy who’s been interested in that way (more interested than both my ex’s put together actually - we spent the day together at an interview, he was really sweet and attentive, good looking, really helped me out, then went out of his way to walk me 40 mins to the train station because it was getting dark, arm around my shoulders the whole time, thoroughly wholesome dude) but when he went in for a hug goodbye and a kiss on the cheek I got all shy and flustered and left because I have no idea how to navigate guys at all and I kicked myself so bad on the train home. Especially not as a young woman wanting to get out there and be someone and be something TO someone…At the start of the year I made a list of realistic changes I could make to just be a better version of myself, for me and for others and that’s something I really wanted to nail during Covid lockdown. Stuff like ‘tone up, get tooth fixed, work on posture, try a new haircut’ and I did make some real headway. I removed a lot of stressors from my life, decluttered, started to get organised and generally made myself really proud of how far I’ve come over the last few years and I feel like I VALUE myself more which, spoiler alert, is huge if you’d seen me as a teen. I’m grateful for where I am and yes I’m having some career struggles and whatnot, but I’ve been able to sit back, see my situation, get myself out of debt and when I’m recovered from surgery I can go all out to get where I want to be. So I’m fortunate and I appreciate that. I’d also been able to fix my skin up a little, tackle some of the bloating triggers I normally have which makes a big difference not just in appearance but also in pain and insecurity terms too. I’d also blitzed my closet, chucked out a lot of my years old trackies + oversized tee options which I reach for when I’m feeling sorry for myself and replaced them with stuff that’s comfy enough for when I’m having a flare up but also that’s fitted and suits me well (that’s right kids, I realised I have boobs and a good waist and I’ve never bloody used them!) and will make me feel more confident, feminine and put together when I walk out the door. Huge boost. But then I got sick again ahead of surgery and spent a month in and out of hospital and now I’m home I’m just trying to work out how to pick up the pieces.What can I do to look and feel more desirable to guys? How can I stop being my own worst enemy when I get shy and try to look cool and uninterested? How to Stop Wanting to Be Thinner, Even If You’re Ambitious

Are you high functioning at school, college, or in your career, but dysfunctional with food? I was.

I’ve always been ambitious. I see things, and I wanna do them too, even better!

It’s a powerful trait, but unruly—like living with a big dog. Sometimes it strains on its leash and pulls you along further than you thought you’d go. And sometimes it knocks you onto the carpet and stands over you, panting, with its balls in your face.

That’s what happened when I got ambitious about getting thin—it floored me.

I tried to mold myself into someone who’d look good in leather pants, and became obsessed and depressed around food.

Leather pants!!!

Exhale. Part of me—that dog jumping up again—still gets excited about becoming supermodel-skinny. But I have to let it go.

Because when I was twelve, I tried to lose weight, even though I didn’t need to. Compulsive overeating entered my life, and dominated my teens.

Up until then, I had a great formula for success: Grades = intelligence + sacrifice.

For instance, I swore to become top of my class. So I holed myself up in my bedroom and made weekends into homework-ends.

The more awards I got, the more I believed self-punishment paid off. I worried if I didn’t push myself to extremes, I’d fall short.

One thing I sacrificed, other than fresh air, was popularity. My ‘A’ grades were social suicide. Other kids found me haughty and tried to bring me down, taunting me about my acne, and my ‘posh’ accent.

My only friend was the silent type—I suspected she was inwardly laughing at me. I was totally insecure.

So I relied on adults saying “Well done” to feel okay. Being average wasn’t enough. I had to be impressive; make the bullies sorry.

I wasn’t overweight, but I was lonely, and I’d started comfort-eating meat pies at lunchtimes. So I already thought “I should eat less.”

And since I couldn’t make my spots disappear, and friendship confused me, I reached for a ‘doable’ transformation: I thought if I could nail weight loss, that’d be like a fairy godmother’s magic wand.

So I deliberately poured all my ambition into one extreme goal: “I’m gonna get showstoppingly skinny, so everyone’ll be impressed.”

My mum was a hippie feminist. She would’ve been horrified. I already secretly ‘borrowed’ my dad’s razor to do my armpits, because she didn’t think women should shave; she didn’t agree with society’s beauty standards! So, what could be more rebellious than worshipping models?

Leather pants became my benchmark after I saw a particular fashion article, ironically titled “Chocaholic.” The theme was “how to wear brown,” and the model wore a white shirt and brown leather jeans.

She was blonde (like me), tall (like me), and leggy (not so like me). I was pretty sure if my thighs didn’t touch anymore, I could be her.

So I made a plan, and not just to stop yomping meat pies. I vowed to skip school lunch completely.

It made perfect sense in my head: No food, and nobody would know, or stop me. But… I hadn’t factored in my body! I wasn’t prepared for gnawing hunger.

That first day I tried it, I panicked I wouldn’t get through the day.

I begged my friend for pennies. She gave me 25p, with a wry smile. I bought chocolate biscuits from a shop near school. She thought they looked cheap and nasty, but I ate the whole packet.

That was the pattern from the off: I’d create rules and then cave in and eat whatever.

I found myself binge eating for the next seven years.

Sometimes I’d make myself sick. But mostly, afterward, I’d just be full to bursting, and feel so guilty I’d want to curl up in a ball.

Guilty, 24/7. Waking up guilty. Guilty about yesterday’s food, and guilty for wanting breakfast.

If I ate, I’d failed. And since I hadn’t had experienced much failure before, I took it to heart.

By the time I was nineteen that sense of failure had spread. I needed constant affirmation from my boyfriend, I hid under my duvet instead of studying for my college exams, I was competitive and jealous of my (luckily forgiving) friends, and I’d become too scared to audition for drama school, which was my dream for afterward.

I hadn’t stopped being an ambitious person—I still had sky high expectations—but that only made me want to eat more, because while I was putting food in my mouth, I was free from living up to my own standards for a few minutes.

I’d eat until I had to lie down, and I spent days and days in bed—stuffed, daunted, and depressed. I felt ugly, worthless, ashamed, and like I didn’t deserve love at all.

Something had to give.

I had to find a way back to ‘normal’ around food. Normal, which had once been such a boring, unexceptional way to be, now seemed wishful.

I thought: “I’d give anything, just to be able to enjoy food again, and not feel guilty.”

I leapt at my new ambition. Got books. Threw myself into the homework. Journaled, examined my beliefs about myself.

At first, I didn’t give up wanting to lose weight. I just committed myself to my new mission, and that sidelined my desire to get thinner.

But that was enough.

If you’d told me one day I’d enjoy eating a few meals and snacks each day, and not really think much about food in between, I’d have said, “Whoa. Steady on!” But here I am, and I’ve set my desire to get skinny aside permanently.

Sure, I still get that “leather pants thought” occasionally. But I don’t have to jump aboard every train of thought that passes through my head.

It doesn’t feel like giving up, or admitting defeat. It’s liberating.

I haven’t stopped wanting to be healthy, but I have stopped asking my body to leap hurdles it can’t handle.

I respect my biology now, and the powerful survival urges it’ll react with, if I starve it.

So if you’re struggling with your eating, maybe it’s worth weighing up whether you’re wasting precious energy trying to “be successful” with your body.

You don’t have to wait until you’re desperate before you get sane around food. Just reset the bar. Make smarter choices about what you pour your ambition into.

And if you’re thinking, “But I’ve wanted to be thinner most of my life—it’s part of who I am!” I totally get that.

I’m not saying it’s easy to change your own mind. Sometimes you have to coax yourself.

So here are four thoughts that help me stop wanting to be thinner. I’m pretty sure they’ll help you too.

1. I’m becoming my best natural weight.

So far, when I eat normally and look after my body and my sanity, I’m really happy with where my weight lands. I call this my “best natural weight.” It’s a great place to aim instead of trying to get thinner.

I don’t concentrate on my body size.

I have loads else to focus on. Like eating mindfully. And feeling my feelings.

I can focus on getting strong. That’s fun—I can enjoy movement, without worrying about how many calories I’ve burned.

I can also focus on thinking positive thoughts like “I really care about my body” so I feel encouraged to look after myself.

2. I don’t gamble with my natural confidence.

When I embarked upon my dubious quest to get skinny, it was the impulsive voice of my (over)confidence that urged me to do it.

But my naïve arrogance also has an upside.

It has enabled me to move abroad, make several theater shows, have children, and buy a hillside to build a house on. Without really knowing what’s involved, I plunge in and try things!

Sadly, by my last year of college, when my eating was at its worst, failure with food had destroyed all the optimism that usually goes hand in hand with my confidence.

We think getting a head-turning body will give us confidence. We don’t realize that for most of us, the quest to get that body will cost us our confidence.

My confidence is buoyant again now, but I won’t stake it on another body project.

3. I’m searching for a more meaningful life purpose.

It was trivial, and vain, and superficial, just aching to be thinner than I was made to be.

But it didn’t feel like I had a choice: I’d wake up, remember there was something I was depressed about, feel ugly and horrible, and then wonder how to stop myself eating today.

It didn’t make sense—I’d read feminist writers like Naomi Wolf! Although it was hypocritical, I still wanted to be thinner.

That’s because it’s impossible to tell yourself to not focus on something; it’s like trying to look away from a spider!

But the second I had a new focus—getting sane around food—everything changed.

I threw myself into friendships like never before. Started cooking meals to share. I had fun, and started exercising for fun too.

I felt like I had energy to start thinking about the world, and even annotated a global politics textbook. Which was taking things a bit far.

But the point is, for the first time in years I could think about what I wanted to do with my life.

What would you do with all that energy, if you weren’t dieting?

4. I think, “This food struggle isn’t a handicap. I’m OVERfunctioning.”

If you’re doing well in most areas aside from eating, it’s easy to feel like your food struggle is your Achilles’ heel.

Thinking like this makes you feel like a victim.

In reality, you don’t have a fatal flaw. You’re not missing a willpower gene. You’re just trying to exert your intelligence, talents, and strengths over something you can’t master—your body.

But no wonder you try to control it! Think about what’s expected of you at work or school.

When you work in a goal-oriented, intellectual way, it’s unsurprising you also try to boss your body, by making rules about what you should eat.

When you’re competitive enough to climb the hierarchy of your career, is it any wonder you compare your appearance to others? Or get tempted to copy your friends’ “you-gotta-try-this-juice-fast” transformations?

When you’re expected to be businesslike rather than emotional, is it any surprise that you’re skillful at keeping your feelings under wraps, even if it requires using food as a crutch?

When you work within a meritocracy, it’s easy to think if you’re not being successful with your body, it’s just because you’re not working hard enough. So you try and try again. But the body isn’t a blank canvas for you to make a masterpiece of.

Your body isn’t a job, either.

I know it sounds obvious, but we forget that it’s a living thing It has its own wisdom, and a mind-bogglingly complex—miraculous, even—set of chemical processes (including hunger, satiety, digestion, hormones, immunity, for example) that it performs without us handing it any to-do list.

Your food obsession might not feel like a good thing right now.

I’m not saying mine was fun either, but my struggle did stop me in my tracks, and it forced me to pay myself attention to myself.

If it nudges you to weigh up how you define success, create self-worth, and deal with emotional and stressful experiences, maybe that’s a tiny plus.

And I know it’s hard to let go of being thinner if it’s something you’ve invested years of your life trying to achieve. But when you stop trying to become someone you’re not, it’s easier to trust and believe in yourself.

That confidence pays off in other places. Who knows? It might translate into asking for a pay rise, sharing your feelings, having deeper relationships, or being brave enough to hit the high notes when you belt out “Let It Go” in your next audition.

Food and body sanity aren’t a consolation prize for people who can’t ‘make it’ to supermodel status, and have to accept boring old reality.

It’s a choice, for people who are smart and curious.

And P.S.: They make leather pants in every imaginable size.

I've had acne since my teens but it's really been bothering me lately psychologically and hurting alot when trying to sleep on my back from cysts. Also sometimes minor acne on my face has been causing permanent scars. I want to go to the dermatologist and see if I can get accutane, but I just got my health insurance beginning of the year and had no creditable coverage before that. According to their written policy, I might not be eligible since I actually went to the doctor and got antibiotics for acne less than 24 months before enrollment in the health plan. I would like to say that the condition manifested itself in the past month psychologically which caused me to seek out accutane, which is true. Should I even mention my past diagnosis can they check it somehow? I really don't want to pay $3000 out of pocket for accutane, but I feel I really need to do this now for my own well being. What should I say to the doctor, how much will they investigate preexisting condition

I tryed to talk and explain them that this fee it's just nuts but they didn't agreed. The fee it's about 1/4 of the total insurance cost for 1 year. I'm not NT but I don't have autism and I'm not sure what kinds of things would be helpful when interacting with someone with autism.

(Sorry if this is a really late response my internet has been abysmal for the past..... WHILE)

-Make sure that you don’t assume meaning from our actions. That’s one of our biggest frustrations. Allistic people often read into our actions, words, body language, etc. and then make incorrect assumptions. Remember, we’re not allistic, our brains work different, we think different, so the reason WE do something may be very different from the reason an allistic person does something.

- By extension: say what you mean and mean what you say. There are so many times that people get mad at me, say I’m being a little shit or purposefully obtuse, etc. just because... I didn’t get what they were insinuating. Or I didn’t read between the lines, or whatever. Hell it’s gotten to the point that I often over read into what allistics say, because goddamn. You people can’t just be direct. So in an attempt to accommodate, I end up accidentally reading into things that aren’t meant to be read into, or over reading into things, or even just getting the wrong meaning because I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. Just... talk to us. Don’t hint. Especially don’t get annoyed if we don’t catch what you’re saying.

- Kinda on the same vein, but: If an autistic person doesn’t understand something, even if you think it obvious, don’t ridicule them for it, just explain it. Things that come naturally to you don’t come naturally to us. Our mental skills are elsewhere. Also it’s usually social stuff or figures of speech we don ’t understand, and i mean... that stuff is bullshit anyway. (This isn’t just social and communication btw, this could even be just how to do a task.)

-Speaking of which: don’t force autistic people to conform to your social standards. Don’t force us to make eye contact. Don’t tell us not to stim. Don’t get mad at us for repeating something or scripting.

-If we communicate in a nonverbal way, don’t tell us to “use [our] words!” (ex: pointing and gesturing to something we want passed to us at the table, a hand on your shoulder when we’re trying to get past you, etc.) Because even if we may not be nonverbal at the time, we might be overwhelmed, and so talking uses a lot of energy. Or we just might be very distracted and plain forget to speak. Getting angry at us will only stress us out more, which will only exacerbate the problem.

-Speaking of nonverbal: if someone needs to communicate using an alternative communication method, like writing, typing, AAC, etc. GIVE THEM TIME TO WRITE THEIR RESPONSE. I can’t tell you how many people will just get annoyed and move on, stop talking to me, try (and fail) to guess what I’m trying to say, etc. It’s more frustrating than the inability to use my mouth to talk in the first place. This can also go for people who stutter and/or stammer. Which often happens to autistics too. Just give us time to communicate however we can.

-Don’t spring things on autistics. Plan things in advance, and if they are asking for lots of info about what you’re going to be doing, don’t get annoyed. Shit is stressful for us, so knowing a lot about it can help ease the anxiety and stress. The more we know the better we can prepare. Because the world isn’t made for us, so we have to do a lot to fit into it. But if we know nothing about the situation, we can’t know what we need to do for it. Not to mention we often need accessibility items, so it’s important to know what’s going on so we know what to bring.

-If the autistic person needs things done a certain way, let them have it done that way. It is extremely stressful if one of our constants in our lives is disrupted. Also we have things done in the way we do them for a reason. Whether it be to fight decision fatigue by having routines and sameness, or just doing things a certain way because it makes our homes, clothes, LIFE more sensory friendly, just... let us have our things be the way we need them. Hell even shit like sitting in the same seat every meeting let’s say: it’s easier to focus on the meeting when your SPD isn’t having to process all sorts of new information because you’re seeing the room from a different perspective.

-Don’t judge us in any way for our “weird” behaviours. So this includes “weird” expressions, body language, habits (chewing, sucking, stimming, etc.), body movements, speech, etc. And by judge I mean commenting, funny looks, reactions, etc. Just act like it’s totally normal, because to us? It kinda is.

-Small talk.... just... ugh. So something that happens a lot that I HATE is that allistic people will disrupt my work to just... chat. About fucking nothing. I’ll be doing something and then they’ll just come up to me and be all like “Whatcha doing?” “...working.” “Whatcha working on?” “I’m typing up the minutes.” “...” “...” “So how was your weekend?” etc. Drives me up the wall. You could clearly see I was in the middle of something. If you don’t have anything you actually need from me? Leave me be. I’ll chat later when I’m not busy!! (If you’re not sure, just ask if the person is busy/up for chatting.)

-Don’t be overly condemning/abrasive when informing us that something we’re doing/said/etc. is inappropriate, offensive, rude, etc. Now this part may seem like I’m contradicting the whole “don’t hold us up to your social standards” thing, but being autistic isn’t a get out of jail free card. If we are doing or saying something shitty, it still needs to be addressed. However we may not realize the impact of it. This could be because it’s not a big deal to us and we don’t realize that it is for others, or just because in an attempt to fit in, we mimicked those around us... and those around us weren’t the best people.

For example: I have dermotilliomania. So I can’t stand it whenever there’s a zit on my face, ESPECIALLY a white head. I’d pop that sucker as soon as I saw it. But I didn’t realize that this was more of my own experience, so in my teens, whenever I’d notice one on my sister’s face, I’d point it out. I wasn’t trying to go all “haha you have acne” I was more going “Oh no you have a Bad Thing on your face, you probably want to get rid of it!!” Kinda like when you tell someone that they have something in their teeth or a bit of sauce on their chin. Unfortunately though, she was allistic and did not have dermotiliomania, so to her I was just constantly pointing out something that she was insecure about. So it actually caused a lot of self image problems for her. I didn’t learn the full impact of it until years later.

So in that example, a good thing to do would be to explain: “I really don’t like it when you point out my acne, because you pointing it out all the time makes me really insecure.”

Using myself for an example again: I was raised in a white Conservative Catholic family. So I didn’t understand the allistic world, and the only people I had to base my understanding OF that world were..... well not great. So I had to spend a lot of time unlearning stuff. I’m not trying to excuse anything I did or said that was offensive, but I just feel like pointing out something.

Here’s how intense it can be: my family LOVED making “r*tard jokes”, which were actually autism jokes looking back. I made them along with them, even though I did all the behaviours they were mocking (but in secret). Hell I even threw around the r word in casual conversation, because that’s what I was used to hearing, and what I thought was normal. I had a good friend begin my education about that stuff, so by the time I found out that I’m autistic, I had already dropped all the jokes and language... and started realizing how terrible they were because they were making fun of me in a way. (I even remember hearing things like “why are you acting like such a r*tard?” and then trying to hide it by acting like I was just doing more of the mocking.)

Now the latter half of this section (or even this section in general) may just seem like good advice in general. But it’s particularly relevant for autistic people, because we often end up with more rude behaviours, and more easily adopt offensive crap... and find it harder to lose because scripts and echolalia and whatnot. So if they continue after you address them, just point it out each time they do it, but in a gentle reminding way, because they probably just are falling back on old scripts, forgot themselves for a moment because of everything else going on, etc. It’ll take some time, but it’ll happen.

Ok so idk if I went overboard or not, but.... here are some things anyway!!

Drugs That Make Rheumatoid Arthritis Worse - And What To Do About It

To cure Rheumatoid Arthritis it is very important to do everything perfectly ‘right’. However, many RA sufferers are inadvertently making their RA worse because of a lack of information or by not fully understanding the underlying cause of this disease. So today, to help you on your path to wellness, I would like to warn you about two types of drugs that can make your Rheumatoid Arthritis worse in the long run and give you some simple tools so that you can protect yourself from this problem.

The two drugs that I will discuss below can both have the effect of upsetting your digestive system in the worst possible way. These drugs create turmoil on the healthy bacteria in your intestines (which are called ‘probiotics’ by the supplement companies) and damage your intestinal wall leading to poor absorption of nutrients and a concept known as ‘leaky gut’ by Naturopaths. ‘Leaky Gut’ is actually a descriptive term for having holes in your intestinal wall, which then allows large foreign molecules to enter your blood. These foreign proteins entering your blood can trigger a state of ‘molecular mimicry’ and result in your body attacking it’s own joints in a state of innocent confusion. Quite literally, by having a depleted intestinal environment you will experience worsened symptoms of RA.

So, we need to look at the following two drugs very seriously! Let us first look at Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID’s)

NSAID’s

There are a large range NSAID’s that are commonly used to treat arthritis. Research has shown that most of these drugs actually contribute to ‘leaky gut’ and thus perpetuate Rheumatoid Arthritis through the mechanisms I have described above. The offenders include all the common brands like Advil, Motrin, Naprosyn and so on, with the only exceptions being aspirin and nabumetone (Relafen). [1] It has been shown that these drugs can increase intestinal permeability (holes in the intestinal wall) within 24 hours [2]

My personal experience matches these findings. The first medication I took for my RA was one of the leading NSAID brands. It was fantastic at relieving my pain for about 2 weeks. As time wore on the effects of the drug diminished and so after about 3 weeks I decided to see how I felt once I stopped taking the drug. After stopping this medication I felt about twice as bad as what I was before I started taking it. Looking back I believe that my intestinal wall took a battering during this time, which in turn led to increased swelling and pain.

I learnt most about my body and my food intolerances by remaining off these drugs. These drugs interfere with the critically important communication that occurs, via pain levels, from eating a food and monitoring its effect on your body. By cutting out the pain with a drug I was losing all the information I needed to create a diet free of offending foods.

Since NSAID’s are common and are available over the counter we think that they can’t be too harmful for us. It couldn’t be further from the truth. If you are stuck at the moment on these drugs due to persistent pain levels then that’s OK – pain relief and protection from joint damage in the short term is obviously of paramount importance – but I’ll show you below some great ways to offset the long term effects whilst you wean yourself off these drugs.

But first, lets look at another drug that is wreaking havoc on your insides:

ANTIBIOTICS

To start our discussion of antibiotics and their effect on the body, we first need to talk about something a little unusual – your intestinal bacteria…

In an ideal state of health you would have between 2-4 pounds of bacteria living inside your intestines in numbers upwards of 40 Trillion. This may sound like the premise of a horror film, but don’t freak out, the vast majority of organisms living in there are helpful, or at least not harmful, to our lives. Beneficial Bacteria (also called Probiotics or Microflora) are the good bacteria that live inside us with the majority found between the end of the small intestine and the distal colon. These tiny organisms are absolutely imperative to our health and we should really think of this big mass of mini life as a vital organ like a lung or a kidney.

The many important functions that our bacteria perform for us includes killing harmful bacteria, killing fungus (also known as candida), and building B vitamins for the rest of our body to use. They also help our bodies produce enzymes, help to change the acidity within our cells and play an important role in the development of the immune system by maintaining a constant dialog with our internal bodies through the surface of the gut. Our microflora also influences many of our hormones. So this healthy bacteria is very important stuff.

The word ‘biotic’ means ‘pertaining to life’. Hence a probiotic is literally pro life. Poor eating habits, stress and antibiotics (‘anti-life’) sometimes found in animal foods can wreak havoc on the good bacteria, allowing bad bacteria to multiply. Taking prescription antibiotics for a long period of time is catastrophic to your internal health. Doses of antibiotics not only kill the nasties, but also kill the good, innocent civilians in your stomach as well. A lack of healthy intestinal flora is a serious concern. I believe the cause of my RA was due mostly to taking antibiotics for years to combat some persistent acne. I blindly took these antibiotics from my late teens through into my early 20’s without too much of a thought, other than ‘gee, my skin looks good!’. I wish I had some idea of the bigger picture. Little did I know that I was creating an environment where I was wiping out my healthy bacteria, thus allowing unwanted pathogens to thrive. Pioneering orthomolecular researcher Dr F. R. [3] Since B-Vitamins are manufactured by your healthy bacteria it stands to reason that if you’ve killed all your bacteria you’d be short of B-Vitamins!

Without the correct approach, the challenge to uphold our intestinal health can be a difficult one. You have a leaky gut, a depleted mucosal lining and a shortage of healthy bacteria to rectify. Trust me, you never ‘accidentally’ fix these without knowing how to, since they don’t teach you this stuff in high school (and they don’t teach Rheumatologists this stuff at College either unfortunately). However, once you are shown how then it can be understood and followed easily and excellent results can be achieved in a short period of time.

How to replenish your good bacteria?

Well, many companies sell probiotics in bottles which enable you to supplement your supply of good bacteria via capsules. But there is a better and more effective way than this, which is to feed the existing bacteria with their favorite foods which allows their populations to grow naturally, rather than trying to add new guys to the mix. From my own experimentation, I have found that this is the best way to go and it’s far cheaper. Let’s feed the good bacteria and let them multiply! God knows you’ve been starving them to death up until this point!

So what do your bacteria want to eat? Good bacteria love fiber. The partially digested remnants of our meals, after arrival in our large intestines, become the foods for our microflora. Each species of bacteria survives best on specific kinds of nutrients. Friendly bacteria love all kinds of plant-food remnants, especially fiber from green leafy vegetables, whilst pathogens thrive when the diet is low in plant foods and high in animal products and processed foods.

What we eat determines the predominance of the bacteria species that will live in our gut. By changing from a diet based on processed foods and animal products to plant foods, you can suppress the growth of harmful bacteria and stimulate those that are beneficial fairly quickly. Major alterations in the microflora take place within one to two weeks of dietary intervention [4] As a treat to your little guys, good bacteria also love raw garlic, raw onion and artichoke.

How to re-establish your mucosal lining?

Think of your intestinal wall like a skin. When you stop irritating it with the wrong foods then it will heal, like any wound on your exterior.
