Series Masterlist | Part 2
↝a/n: my first Robin Series. Set in season 4.
↝pairing: Robin Buckley x fem!Wheeler!reader
↝ Warning: not proof read. Possible spoilers if you still haven't watched season 4, everything that happens in stranger things, slow burn, Vicky doesn't exist here, not because I don't like her, but because it's easier to write for Robin when she's not madly in love with another chick.

Nancy jiggled her keys, annoyed with the mop headed boy. "Mike! Let's go." She turned, looking at you with an irked expression. "This kid." She opened the door, walking past you as you put your backpack on.
Mike rolled his eyes, hunching over the toaster, impatiently waiting for the pop tart to pop any second. "Jesus. How am I gonna survive a whole week without you guys?" You grinned as he walked past, handing you one of the warm pop tarts. "Besides you. You're cool." He whispered before practically jogging to the car, where Nancy sat with her head thrown back in annoyance. You bid your parents goodbye before following him to the car, deciding you didn't have time to argue over who was getting in the front.
"So, Cali, huh?" Nancy glanced at you from the rearview mirror, a small grin making its way onto her lips. You two have tormented him for weeks over him going all the way to California for spring break. You did it more than Nancy though, only because you loved his grossed-out reaction when you'd turn around, acting as if you were making out with someone, hinting at the two.
"Yeah." Mike grumbled, looking out the window from the passenger seat.
you nodded, not bringing it up for the rest of the car. Atleast, until you got to school.
"And then there's Heidi tomorrow night, but the problem with Heidi is that she's going out of state for college. So, it's like, do I really wanna start another relationship that has no point other than sex?" Steve continued to rant to deaf ears. "I mean, i don't know. Does that make sense to you?" He rubbed his forehead, glancing to his side, where Robin was putting on mascara, solemnly paying attention to the mirror and not to the man who was ranting for the whole car ride. "Robin, are you listening?"
"Uh, yes. I-I'm lis-"
"What did I just say?" Steve threw his hand up, shaking his head, unimpressed.
"Something about sex with...Linda."
"No! I'm talking about Heidi."
"Cut me some slack, please!"
Steve bit his cheek before rubbing his forehead again. "Well-"
Robin began to rant, "Your love life is one of labyrinthine complexity. And it is 7:00 in the morning, we have this stupid pep rally and i woke up looking like a total corpse." She stretched her hands on the sides of her face, surely not looking flattering at all.
"Oh, you're worried about a pep rally? You expect me to believe that?" He glanced over again, his expression showing he absolutely did not believe that, not one bit.
"Yeah? So?"
"So, we both know what this is about. Okay, I'm not buying that bullshit. This is about Y/n." He had met you a few ties, when he was with Nancy and when you guys had to fight some ugly parasite looking monster. You were quick to catch Robin's eye in school, which, in turn, made her turn to Steve and tell him all about this girl. There were a few characteristics that lead him to know she fancied you before she even told him your name.
"Absolutely not." Robin couldn't help the blush that painted her cheeks, moving to do anything with her hands. She began applying lip balm, staring back into the little mirror in the vizor.
"Yes it is. You know what else I think?"
"I really don't care-" Steve could go on and on. If you were to ask Robin what he said, she's surely say blah blah blah with a roll of her eyes.
"I think you gotta stop pretending to be someone else when you're around her. You just gotta be yourself." He had his hand out, motioning around absentmindedly.
"You're literally quoting me to me. You do realize that, right?"
"WELL maybe you need to listen to yourself. Ever think about that, smarty-pants?" Robin stared at him with a look that could kill. Was she this annoying when she scolded him, telling to get his shit together? "I listened to you and look at me. Boom. Back in buisness.
"It's not the same thing, okay?"
"Well..."
Robin made a sound of disagreement at that, not letting him finish that thought. "You ask a girl out and she says no, big deal. nothing happens. Maybe your ego is a little bruised." Robin looked at him with false pity, before moving her hands around again. "But I ask out the wrong girl, and BAM! I'm a town pariah."
Shaking his head, Steve understood where she was coming from, but disagreeing with how she was going about it. "Yeah, okay, I'd buy that, except Y/n is defiantly not the wrong girl."
"We just don't know that do we?"
"She returned Fast Times at 53 minutes, 5 seconds. Do you know who paused Fast times at 53 minutes, 5 seconds?'
"..."
"People who like boobies, Robin!"
"Ew! Gross! Don't say boobies!"
"Boobies. it's not a big deal, okay. I like boobies. You like boobies. Y/n likes boobies. Definitely."
Clinbing over the seat after Nancy parked, you patted Mike as he held the car door open. "Use protection atleast." Before he could reply or grumble, you were jogging towards the gym, finding some of your friends in the process.
"Got any plans for spring break?" Chrissy asked, trying to keep in stride with you.
"Not really." You hadn't made plans, but you'd probably end up staying at one of your friend's house. After walking in, you turned towards her, grinning to ease her nerves. "Have fun. You'll do amazing." She smiled back, giving you a quick hug before running off.
Turning back to the bleachers, you tried to look for an empty seat, which was becoming harder with the people trampling into the double doors.
Hearing your name being yelled, you looked around, stopping when you see Steve. He motioned you over, making sure no one sat down beside him.
With the glare he could feel on the side of his head, he'd definitely be getting an earful from Robin.
He held his hand out, helping you step up the stairs with all the people walking around you to take a seat. "Thank you."
"No problem." He turned to face Robin, mouthing '53 minutes, 5 seconds'. She rolled her eyes before looking forward.
When everything started, he cheered with you as you not only cheered on your school, but your friends and all the work they put into the moves.
"And of course, I have to give a special shout-out." Steve glanced over at you when he heard you scoff at Jason Carver.
"What? You not like Jason?" His words were playful, already knowing you despised him for some reason, hearing it from Robin.
"I dunno. He loves Chrissy and shows it, but he's just a dick to everyone else."
Jason continued to speak, "Chrissy..." He stared at her as they were they only two in the room. "Chrissy, i love you, babe."
You made a gagging sound, only loud enough for Steve to hear it.
Jason went on to make another speech. "You know...I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's been a tough year for Hawkins. So much loss. And sometimes I wonder 'how much loss can one community take?' In dark days like this, we need something to believe in. So, last night, when we were down by ten points at half to Chrisian Academy I looked at my team and I said, think of Jack, think of Melissa, think of Heather, think of Billy. "
Both, you and Steve looked down, searching for the red head you had seen climbing up the bleachers to sit with your brother and Dustin. You both looked back at each other, taking pity in the poor girl.
Sure, you never got along with Billy. But you would've never wished that kind of death upon anybody, including him. Especially with the way if effected Max. You could tell she felt guilty. It wasn't fair for her; she was just a kid- a good kid at that.
"-Think of our heroic police chief, Jim Hopper. "
"Yeah, people died so they could win a basketball game. That's the reason." You rolled your eyes, grumbling as you glared at the man screaming into the mic. "For a stupid trophy." Sure, you will still congratulate Lukas if they do, indeed, win the trophy. But to say many people died for that was just ridiculous. Honoring the people who have fallen is different, but that's not what he's doing. Maybe Lukas would play in honor of them, but not Jason.
"You alright?" Chrissy almost walked past you in the hall, looking a little uneasy.
She blinked a couple of times before trying to smile. "Yeah- yeah. of course. Just had to go to the counselor. I'm alright." You slowly nodded, before wrapping an arm around one of hers and walking towards class. She had been acting weird lately. So you made sure to stay close to her, making sure she didn't do anything. "Would you like to do something for spring break?" You brought back the question she asked earlier.
"Like what?"
"I dunno. We could hang at your house-"
"No!" You looked at her, confused by her outburst. "Why would we do that when we have your house?"
"I mean, Mike's not going to be there so sure." You gently smiled at her, squeezing her arm effectiontly when she stopped by the bathrooms. "I'll talk to you about it later, yeah?" She nodded before pushing the door open.
You began walking towards class, trying to wrap your brain around what is going on with her. She obviously wasn't okay.

Celebrity Crush || Interviews Day 1
Paring: Joseph Quinn x Original female costar
Word Count: 2134
Summary: It’s the first day of many for season 4 interviews
Warnings: cute interactions
A/N: For this I’ll be using my OFC in Trouble in Hawkins for this OFC to play her.
Last: Premiere | Next: Theories & More
Tumblr media
"Look who's last to show up." Maya says as I walk into the room. "There were some problems with the car." I take my seat between her and Natalia. "Presley is always last to show up." Joe says making me turn to look back at him, "I am not!" I slap his knee. "Sometimes..." Joseph adds making me turn the other way to look back at him. "You know what... I may be last but I'm still always on time. I've never been late." I turn back around to face the front. "That's a fair point." Natalia gives me a pass. Before the long interviews start, the five of us just sit on our phones bored.
Joseph: You just had to wear green pants too.
I look back at him and realized he was wearing green pants as well.
Presley: I look better.
I send him the text and he lets out a chuckle before we're told it's time to get ready. The first question was about Maya and Natalia working together since last season they had no scenes of them together really. "Joe, Steve's storyline in the first few episodes is about him trying to figure out his own love life. I'm curious what you think Steve needs?" The guys asks him so I look back some to look at him. "A swift kick in the butt." He says making us laugh. "He literally has the perfect girl in front of him and he messed it up and needs to fix it." He answers. He then asks Joseph what was it like jumping into the show and he tells him it was great because he felt comfortable with us. "What can you guys tell me about the big bad this season, Vecna?" The asks us. "Sexy." Maya says making me cover my mouth from laughing too loud. "He's not good." Joe adds. "Cruel with how he kills." I add and the others agree.
We have a few minutes before the next person so I get a drink of water. "I think I actually pull off the green pants better." Joseph walks up beside me. "What makes you think that though?" I tilt my head looking at him. "People can actually see my pants on camera not you. So that means I look better." He gives me a smile. "It doesn't work that way." We go back to our seats for the next interview. "Who always nails it in the first take?" The man asks us. "Priah, Gaten and Presley." They all say so I agree with them. "Who is the last one to always leave their trailer?" I point back again the Joe's. "Wig and something else." I say and they agree. "Oh right, yeah." Joe nods his head. Slowly I start to zone out but still listen to the man just nodding my head. "Yeah, we do laugh a lot." I agree with Maya. "Presley, usually starts the fun with Gaten." Joe adds.
The next lady asks on a scale 1-10 how scary the show was and how dark it got. "It was so fun seeing the friendship between Steve and Skylar, then last season the both of them with Robin. Now this season we get Robin and Nancy and Eddie and Skylar." She goes on about the girls being together and not about Sky and Eddie once so I speak up. "I'd like to add I like how the brothers give the viewers some knowledge of that Eddie and Sky already being sort of distant friends so their friendship being close this season wasn't too random." I speak up looking back at Joseph. "Yeah, that knowledge for us made us working together easier." Joseph nods his head.
"I actually really love the chemistry between Eddie and Skylar... If you guys were a viewer watching the show who would you pick Skylar to be with?" She asks us. "Wow, that's a tough one... if I was a viewer, I'd probably pick Steve. Only because we've seen their relationship change and grow throughout the last three seasons." Natalia looks at the three of us. "That's true. From the whole enemies to friends to lovers trope." Maya agrees. "Steve, because they've been through a lot. He just needs to man up and fix their relationship. As a viewer you can tell they love each other." Joe answers. "As a viewer Steve but being biased I say Eddie." Joseph laughs. "Great, it's my turn now..." I laugh thinking about it, "I would say I don't care." I answer truthfully. "Really?" The lady asks. "I say that because I see she has chemistry with both. Yeah, there's more history with Steve but one; he cheated on her. Two; he's taking his time trying to fix his mistake and their relationship. With Steve taking his time it lets there be more time where Sky and Eddie think about their feelings for each other. So I don't care because she's good with both."
"Presley, how was it for you playing a character who has boy problems?" The next lady laughs. "Weird because I never have that problem. I've never had so many guys like me one after another." I laugh. "Wait, are you saying guys don't find you attractive?" Joe asks shocked. "My whole like I grew up as the ugly friend and people reminded me daily." I nod my head. "Bet they take it back now." Joseph says making me laugh, "One did apologize." I tell him. She asks if we had all the power and control what would we manifest for our character. "Maya I feel like you would have a great answer for that." Joe puts the spot light on her. "I think I would like to umm, have a powerful love story with Nancy Wheeler but she chooses Jonathan instead of me. Also I die sacrificing myself to the monster just for trauma to being Steve and Skylar back together." She answers the questions. "That's exactly what I was gonna say." Joe jokes. "I'd say for everyone just to have a ending they deserve. Eddie goes through stuff and I feel sorry for the dude. Robin needs to find love, Nancy needs to realize she doesn't need a man, Steve and Skylar need to become best friends again." I answer.
It felt like the interviews got longer and long as time with on because I was getting so tired. "Whose performance blew you away this season?" We're asked. "My baby Sadie Sink and then I'd say this lovely man to behind me to my left." I turn towards Joseph patting his knee." I say happy with my answer. Who has the best taste in music was next. "Me. Because I'm offended when people don't like my music." I laugh. "I think I am sitting with three people who have very distinct very good taste in music." Natalia says then gives me a smile. "I'm joking it's four. Presley listens to like everything so you never know what you get when she shuffles music." She says and the others agree.
"Would you rather rent a movie, play D&D, or hit the roller rink?" We're asked. "Rent a movie. I suck at D&D and I can't roller-skate." I answer. "Your asking a room full of actors if whether or not we're watching a movie or do anything else. I think the answers probably watch movies." Maya answer. "What 80's movie would you rent?" The next question is asked. "Either The Labyrinth or Lost Boys." I smile then Joseph says any by John. "Who makes you laugh the most on set?" He asks us. "We have a lot of laughs in set. That's the best part about this show. That's pretty much all we do." Joe says. "It's very true but picking a person I pick Gaten." I laugh.
Finally when we were done we clap our hands because sitting in these chairs were hell. "I'm starving." I get up stretching my arms. "Do you wanna go out for lunch?" Joseph walks up beside me. "Do I wanna go out for lunch? Like with you?" I ask turning to face him. "Or you can go have it alone. Whatever you prefer." He says with a smile making me laugh. "Do you have anything in mind?" I ask as I get my things together. "Not really. Do you?" He asks as I put my bag over my shoulder. "Anyplace with breadsticks. I really want some breadsticks." I let him know. "I think we can find place with breadsticks for you.” He chuckles. “Yes.” I clap my hands excited.
We find a place to eat at before we leave then go in our separate cars. “Table for two, please.” I tell the hostess and they take us to a table. “You were determined to talk about Skylar and Eddie earlier during that one interviewer.” Joseph speaks as we look through the menu. “Because I didn’t want you left out. She brought it up but only talked to Maya and Natalia. Why bring up our characters if you’re not going to talk to us about them.” I tell him and he just nods his head with a slight smile. As soon as the breadsticks hit the table a huge grin spreads across my face. “Come to mama.” I reach for one as see Joseph laughing at me. “What?” I ask with a slight frown confused.
“Come to mama and your smile… it’s cute since it’s for breadsticks.” He takes one himself. “Because I love them. Especially the ones with mozzarella cheese in them. Mmm, I love them.” I think about them. “Are you looking forward to sitting in a chair for hours tomorrow again?” He asks as we wait for our food. “I just hope they don’t ask the same questions over and over. It’s so tiring. Then it sucks when people catch on and realize you’re annoyed of the same question because your answer gets flatter and flatter.” I explain with a sigh. “Then they get mad at you for seeming rude when you’re just tried if repeating yourself.” He says making nod my head agreeing.
As we eat we and the restaurant got slightly more crowed a few people started to recognize us but we ignored them. “Oh, back to the topic on interviews tomorrow… what do you plan on wearing so we don’t match. I have to make sure I look better than you.” I joke with him. “Maybe tan colors. I don’t know yet.” He makes a face laughing. “So boring got.” I laugh at him. “What all are you doing tomorrow?” He asks. “I have a friendship test with Sadie, theories and the rest of the interviews with y’all. Then the following day I have a wired autocomplete by myself along with my first. Sadie is doing those tomorrow, I believe. Along with Noah and Gaten for the wired autocomplete.” I give him the run down.
“You’re a very busy person.” He says as we finish up. “I’m not normally. Since the second season that’s when my schedule slowly got longer. Us older ones are never as busy as the kids since the show is mainly about them. Makes me happy I’m not their age.” I laugh then pay for both of our meals. “I could have paid for mine. You didn’t have to do that. Plus I asked if you want to come have lunch.” Joseph gives me a look. “But it was my idea to come eat so that’s why I paid. And I’m just being a good person.” We stand up from our table. “Next time we eat… I’m paying, got that.” He points his finger at me so I laugh at him. “Fine, you can pay next time we have lunch together.” I say as we go outside to our rides. “See you tomorrow at work.” He waves goodbye to me.
As I get into the vehicle I get a text from a friend saying a fan posted a picture of Joseph and I eating and now people think we were on a date. “God. Can two people of the opposite sex not have lunch together without people thinking their on a date?” I ask out loud. “Everyday people can but when you’re a celebrity no. The public will automatically assume things.” My driver speaks up making me look up at him. “I didn’t ask for you input James.” I say with a chuckle. “You spoke out loud Miss Presley. In a form of a question, might I add.” He now chuckles looking at me from the mirror. “Fine, you win.” I put my hands up. “That’s what now? Six to five?” I roll my eyes at him. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. You’re ahead by one point.”

The Lady and the Lord
Chapter 6
Eddie munson x fem!reader
This is a repost since the old blog doesn't work anymore. 🥰
Chapter summary: the gang, finally, has to go to Eddie and with him they go find the gate.
Chapter warnings: spoiler season 4, mention of harassment, some flirting... if you want.
Tumblr media
We're finally heading to Eddie, to bring some food to him and... yeah, the news.
"Not to be a wimp, but can I sit in the car for this? 'Couse this is gonna total and royally suck" Robin complains from the back seat.
I'm sitting in the front with Nancy as she drives.
"It'll be fine" Nancy assures her.
"I just can't stand to see those dull eyes of Eddie's break again. I really, really can't " Robin admits.
"Yeah.. I know" I sigh.
"At least he can drink himself into feeling better" Steve states, making me roll my eyes.
"That's what my mom does" Max mutters.
"Why don't we just give it a trial?" Robin rambles. I still don't understand if Robin's rambling is cute or... concerning. I share a look with Nancy, that makes me guess we're thinking the same thing.
" 'Eddie. Uh, good news first this time. We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack you requested. Oh yeah and we found Vecna. Only the bad news is that he's in that other darker, much scariest dimension that we told you about, and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him. Like he's entirely shut off to us, so basically you're screwed. And no, no, I know you were already screwed, but now you're doubly, triply screwed"
"Wait, wait. Maybe we put it like that" Lucas stops her.
"Maybe if Y/n said it, it wouldn't hurt so much" Dustin suggests.
" 'we're one step closer to finding Vecna' that's what we say. That's what's important" Nancy proposes.
"Exactly" I agree. "There's no need for him to worry about this now."
"See, Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference." Steve teases earning an annoyed "uh-huh" from Robin.
"Oh shit"
Arriving at Reefer Rick's house we see people gathering around some reporters...and the police.
"Oh my god, they didn't find Eddie, did they?" I mutter.
We get out of the car quickly, thankfully all the people is more interested in finding out what happened than in our arrival, so we manage to sneak around the house and listen to the police chief talking to the reporters.
"... a little after midnight reporting a homicide here on the lake. Officer Callahan here and myself arrived first on the scene. We made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake about ten yards from that house you see behind me. It was there that we found the victim, an 18-year-old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney. His limbs, his body, it was disfigured. There was an eyewitness on the scene, we've also identified a person of interest. Eddie Munson. We encourage anyone with information to please..."
I turn everything off, I stop pay attention... how could they think that... on what proves?
I feel myself getting rigid and, instantly, Robin notices and grabs my hand to support.
"Dustin, can you hear me? Wheeler? Y/n..?"
Eddie.
Oh thank god.
"Eddie. Holy shit" Dustin grabs the radio and we all turn around to listen closely "are you okay?"
"Nah, man. Pretty.. pretty goddamn far from okay" Eddie says.
"Where is he?" I ask, biting my nails out of nervousness.
"Where are you?" Dustin asks him.
"Skull Rock, uh.. do you know it?"
"Yeah, that's near Cornwallis and..."
"Garrett, yeah. I know where it is" Steve cuts him off, instantly rushing to the car. I quickly follow him.
"Hold tight. We're coming. We're coming." I hear Dustin assuring Eddie.
We've been walking for hours now, following Dustin's compass through the woods. All, while constantly hearing Steve and Dustin bickering. Is it the right way? It's not. I'm telling you it is.
Ugh.. I only care about finding Eddie, I don't care who's right.
"Dude, I'm telling you, you're taking us the wrong way." Steve complains for the millionth time.
"It's north. I'm positive I checked the map." Dustin, again, defends.
"You do realise Skull Rock, it's a super popular make-out spot?" Steve asks.
"Yeah, so?"
"Yeah, well, it wasn't popular until I made it popular. All right? I practically invented it." Steve explains proudly. "We're heading in the wrong direction"
With that Steve starts to walk in a different direction, followed by a complaining Dustin and me rolling my eyes.
"Yeah.. well, that's not exactly the most romantic spot to choose and make 'popular' " I joke as we walk, so I can think of anything else for a moment.
"Correction: it's not the most romantic spot to have your first time at" he says holding up his fingers.
"Yeah, tell me about it. It was your idea, if I recall correctly" I tease back.
"What... wait... what?" Dustin asks, clearly taken aback.
"You didn't know? I thought Stevie here told you anything about him" I say with a chuckle.
"No way" he laughs.
"What's so funny, Henderson?" Steve seems offended by his laughing.
"Nothing... just... can't imagine you two.. oh god this is crazy" he says between laugher, I wrap an arm around his shoulder as we keep on walking.
"We kind of had a deal" I whisper to him and he lets out a giggle that makes Steve turn his head and glare at us, and we just laugh.
"I want to know everything" Dustin laughs.
"Oh no no no, you're not gonna know shit, Henderson" Steve warns him.
"Aaww poor Stevie." I mock him "I'll tell you about it some other time" I tell to Dustin.
"Ah ah ah, no you won't, honey" Steve says.
"You can't always be present, you're gonna turn your back one day" I jokingly tease him.
"Can't wait" Dustin says between laugher.
"I hate you both" Steve mutters.
"You love us" we say at the same time.
Finally, we arrive at Skull Rock and Steve can be all cocky and proud about being right.
"Bada bing, bada boom. There she is, Henderson. Skull Rock. In your face, man. In your stupid, cocky little face."
"Doesn't make sense" Dustin says looking down at his compass.
"What's wrong?" I ask him.
"Yeah yeah. Even with it staring you right in the face, you can't admit it. You just can't admit that you're wrong, you little butthead" Steve replies, still proud he found the place himself, I roll my eyes, ready to tell him to shut up when a big thud behind us stops me.
"I concur." Eddie stands up, in front of us. "You, Dustin Henderson, are a total butthead"
Thank god he's okay.
"Jesus, we thought you were a goner" Dustin immediately walks to hug him.
"Yeah, me too man" Eddie replies.
When his eyes meet mine, I instinctively go to hug him too.
As I wrap my arms around his neck, his are around my waist in no time.
"I'm sorry" I whisper to him.
"Don't worry about it, m'lady" he whispers back.
He just holds me to him, afraid I might disappear any moment.
" 'm just glad you're here" he adds.
We let go of each other when we hear Steve clearing his throat, loudly.
"Should we leave you two alone?" Robin winks at me and I feel my cheeks burning instantly.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Dustin asks.
As he eats the food we brought to him, he told us about Jason and the others finding him, his attempt escape on the boat and about Patrick too.
"When I got to the shore, I tried calling you guys, but, uh.. my walkie was busted, man. Drenched. So, uh, I did the thing that I do now, apparently. I ran" he lets out a chuckle, to hide something deeper, I'm afraid.
"Do you know what time this was? The attack?" Nancy asks.
"Yeah, no, I... I know exactly what time it was." He answers as he quickly takes off his watch "my walkie wasn't the only thing that got soaked."
He throw the watch at Nancy who reads "9:27"
"Same time our flashlights went kablooey" Robin adds.
"Which means what, exactly?" Steve asks.
"That surge of energy was, apparently, Vecna attacking Patrick" I tell him.
"Well, we're one step closer. We know how Vecna attacks." Robin states.
"And where he attacks from" Lucas adds.
"So we just need to sneak into his lair in the Upside Down and drive a stake through his heart" Max suggests.
"If he even has a heart" Robin comments and I nod.
"A stake? Is he like a vamp- is he a vampire?" Steve asks confused, once again.
"It was a metaphor" Max replies with a sigh.
"Bullets should work on him, right?" Eddie chimes in.
"I say we chop his head off" Lucas suggests
"I just might second you on that one" I say.
"Yeah, I'd say all of the above, but we can't do any of that-" Nancy starts.
"Unless we find a way to get in the Upside Down... yeah" I finish for her.
"We need El to get her powers back." Max says hopeful.
"Everything was, like, way easier. We had this girl. She had superpowers-" Steve starts to explain to Eddie, but he stops him.
"Superpowers. Yeah, you mentioned her." He then his eyes starts to follow Dustin, who's been walking up and down for the past minutes, mumbling to himself. "Hey, uh, Henderson's not, uh, cursed, is he?"
"Cursed? No, no, no. He's fine" Steve answers" mental? Absolutely"
"Boom!" Dustin exclaims all of a sudden, startling us all.
"Bada.. Bada.. boom" he says more quiet, pointing his finger at Steve" I was right. Skull Rock was North."
"Seriously? You're serious?" Steve asks, quiete annoyed.
"Mh-hmm" Dustin humms, sure.
"This is Skull Rock. Okay?"
Dustin just humms in response again.
"You're totally, absolutely, 100% wrong. Right now."
"Yes" Dustin says" and no"
"For fuck's sake, Dustin. What is it?" I snap.
"This worked correctly when we left the Wheeler's. It was correct when we got in the car on Curly, but it started to slip the further east we went" he explains "Now it's way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn't wrong. The compass was"
"So you're using faulty equipment. You're still wrong" Steve says exasperated.
"Except it isn't faulty. Lucas, you remember what can affect a compass?" He turns to look at Lucas.
"An electromagnetic field" Lucas answers promptly.
"Yep"
"I'm sorry, I must've skipped that class" Robin says, visibly confused.
"In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the compass' needle will deflect towards that stronger power." I recite, and an idea pops in mind "so.. there's either a huge magnet somewhere in the woods or.."
"There's a gate" Lucas finishes for me.
"Exactly" I say.
"Wait.. why?" Robin asks, once again.
"These gates to the Upside Down, they like.. creates this electromagnetic power around them, so if the needle points in another direction, that isn't North, there's a big chance that it's a gate" I explain.
"But we're nowhere near the lab" Nancy points out.
"Maybe there's gate somewhere else... there must be" I suggest.
"Yeah, a gate that we don't know about" Dustin has clearly the same idea. "It'd have to be smaller. Way less powerful"
"Snack-size gate" Robin says and I nod with a smile.
"How? Why?" Steve, for a change, is confused.
"No idea. All I know is that something is causing this disturbance, and the last time we've seen anything like it, it was a gate. And I hope it is because then we'd have a way to Vecna. And a shot at feeing Max from this curse" Dustin explains, before starting to walk away.
"Where are you going?" Steve calls for him "Hey hey hey hey. Eddie's still a wanted man. We can't just go hike in the woods"
"This little steel capsule might be the key to saving both Max and Eddie" Dustin replies, then he refers to Eddie "what say you, Eddie the Banished?"
We all turn around to look at Eddie waiting for his answer.
"I say you're asking me to follow you into Mordor, which, if I'm totally straight with you, I think it's a really bad idea. But, uh, the Shire... the Shire is burning."
Dustin excitedly jumps on spot and Eddie stands up.
"So Mordor it is"
With that we start to follow Dustin through the woods.
"What is Mordor?" Steve asks me.
"Oh my god.. Stevie you need to read more" I laugh at his lack of fantasy knowledge. "I'll let you borrow my Lord of The Rings copy."
I pat him on the shoulder as we follow the others, Eddie turns around and slow down to catch with us.
"You read it?" He asks me, pleasantly surprised.
"Of course I did" I smile at him. "Who do you think educated those kids, uh?"
"Oh yeah? And here I thought you couldn't be more perfect" he says with a teasing tone.
"I'm... full of surprises" I say, surprised of myself.
"Oh.. oh I'm sure" he says back.
"I'll.. uh.. I'll see if Dustin needs anything" Steve jogs towards Dustin, leaving me and Eddie behind.
"So... can I ask you something?" He leans a bit closer.
"Uh.. sure."
"Do you remember the other day, when I bumped into you, at school? After you walked out of the gym" he asks.
"Uh... yeah" unfortunately I do.
"What.. happened?"
"N-nothing" I reply with a shrug, avoiding to look at his face.
"It didn't look like nothing to me" he tells me with a reassuring chuckle.
"No, uh... really nothing to worry about" I try to smile at him to convince him, but he doesn't give up on the subject.
"Those assholes bothered you, didn't they?" He guess.
"Uh... no..it's just-"
"Didn't they?" He repeats, cutting my excuse off.
"Yeah... but nothing.. too bad"
"Mmhm. You don't fool me, m'lady." He gently nudges me. "Was it Jason?"
"No.. "I sigh "Andy, I think his name is. He, uh... flirted with me... quite insistently."
"What..?" He asks, his tone irritated.
"He, uh.. he whispered some shit into my ear.. held me to him by my waist.. yeah. That's it" I tell him.
"What a prick... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring that up. Never thought that would be it" he apologises.
"Oh no. It's okay, really." I genuinely smile at him and he smiles back.
"That's not how one should treat someone like you" he says casually.
"Someone like me?" I ask confused.
"Someone who's... how can I say it?... someone as cool as you" I saw him winking at me when I look at him. I turn my face facing forward again, cheeks warming up quickly.
"Someone" he continues "smart... sweet... badass... beautiful"
"I... I'm not.. really" I nervously laugh at that.
I'm just a distraction, I remind myself... or convince myself.
"Oh, but you are, M'lady." he stops and I do too.
He turns to me.
He gently put a hand under my chin, making me look up to him again. His gaze falls to my lips and I feel my cheeks getting warm, instantly.
Then, he starts to lean down.
"Guys!" Steve screams snapping us out of the moment. "C'mon!"
"What a timing, Harrington" Eddie complains.
"C'mon, my lord, let's go, before mommy gets mad" I tell him as I start to walk again.
"Yeah.. let's go, m'lady" he walks beside me, cursing Steve under his breath.
We walk and walk and walk following Dustin and his compass until it gets dark.
At some point he starts to run in the direction the compass points towards and we obviously follow right behind him.
"Something's happening" he mutters.
"Yeah, could you maybe share it with us?" I say, trying to keep up with him.
"Dustin? Can you slow down? Dustin?" Eddie tries too.
"I think we're getting close" he say turning his head to us
"Careful!" I almost yell as Eddie promptly grab him by the backpack.
"Yeah, watch your step, big guy."
"Oh man" says a breathless Steve "you gotta be shitting me."
"Yeah. I thought these woods were familiar"
"Lover's Lake" me and Robin look at each other.
"This is confounding" Dustin comments.
"There's a gate in Lover's Lake?" Max asks.
"Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way" Nancy suggests.
"Yeah, only one way to find out" Steve declares.
"Going in" I mutter.
Eddie goes to uncover the boat he, apparently, used to escape.
"Guess it'll do" Steve sighs.
They grab it and carefully drag it to the water.
Robin's the first one to walk in, followed by Eddie.
Nancy climbs in too.
"Wheeler" Eddie offers his help.
Then I follow.
"M'lady" Eddie gently grabs my hand to help me climb in.
"Thanks" I softly say as I sit with Robin, who gently nudges me and offers me a warm smile, to which I playfully roll my eyes.
Just as Dustin gets closer to come in too Eddie stops him.
"Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us? This thing holds four people tops, okay?" He tells him, Dustin just stands there with a stunned expression glaring at him.
"It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max. Keep an eye out for trouble" Nancy tries to ease the situation.
"You keep an eye out" He says back, earning a glare from Nancy, I'm sure. "It's my goddamn theory"
"You heard Nance" Robin chimes in.
"Who put her in charge?" Dustin asks irritated.
"I did" she answers, calmly.
"Me too" I add. "C'mon, Dusty, give Nancy the compass. C'mon"
With a pout he reluctantly gives Nancy the compass and stands back so we can finally go.
Steve throws the backpack to Dustin and starts to push the boat in the water, taking advantage of thale moment and jumps in with us.
"You said four!" Dustin exclaims.
"Sorry" Steve fake-apologies.
"Bed time at nine, kiddos" Robin yells. "Miss you already"
"You're so mean" I tell her, giggling.
I'm about to take one oar, but Eddie beats me.
"I got this, beautiful" he winks and takes the oar.
"Think I can't do that?" I challenge.
"No" He quickly replies "no.. I.. I didn't mean it like that"
"Relax man, she's messing with you." Steve pats him on the shoulder "You'll realise she can be a real tease when she opens up" Steve tells him and I glare at him.
"That's not true" I defend.
"It's true. And don't make me start with the sexual jokes" Robin blurts out.
"Robin!" I exclaim.
"Sorry" she whispers.
I hide my face into my hands.
"No need to be embarrassed, m'lady, I don't mind" Eddie sweetly whispers.
"Yeah yeah let's focus on the task at hand, uh?" I say, seeking support from Nancy and Robin.
"She's right." Nancy says eyes fixed on the compass.
After a few minutes of rowing on the lake, Nancy stops them.
"Slow down, slow down, guys"
The compass is flickering, all crazy.
"Guys, what's going on?" Dustin asks from the radio. "C'mon guys, talk to me, what's going on?"
"Uh, Dustin" Robin grabs the radio "your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'Aah!' "
In the meantime Steve's taking off his socks... what..
"Steve, what are you doing?" Nancy asks him.
"Somebody's gotta go down and check this out. Unless one of you four can top being a Hawkins High swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then.. it's gotta be me. No complaints, all right?" Steve simply states, standing up straight.
"Hey, I'm not complaining." Eddie shrugs. "I do not wanna go down there"
He take out of his pocket a plastic bag, empty the content on the boat and wrap the plastic around the torch.
As Steve takes off his shirt I notice Nancy, not so subtlety, staring at him. I look at Robin who already has a grin on her face and looks at me raising both eyebrows as to say "see that too?" And I nod.
Eddie hands the torch to Steve wishing him good luck.
"You better come back up in one piece, or I'm gonna kill you" I tell him.
"Thanks, honey, always so sweet" he says sarcastically and I glare at him.
"Steve?" Nancy says "be careful"
And finally Steve jumps into the lake.
Nancy immediately looks at her watch to time him.
I take a deep breath leaning a bit backwards, my leg starts to bounce and I fidget with my rings a lot.
He better come back up soon.
I remember visiting him while he still worked at Scoops Ahoy. He convinced me to come over as much as possible so he wouldn't feel so, as he said, miserable.
"Hi, honey" he greeted me as I come into the shop.
"Hey, Stevie" I smiled. "All good?"
"Yeah, yeah, slow day." He shrugged.
"I see" I commented looking around at the empty table "Well, how about I buy something then? So you'll earn your money honestly."
"What would I do without you?" He theatrically told me.
"Become a dickhead all over again?" I replied.
"Wait wait wait... I was never a dickhead to you" he defended.
"Oh never? Yeah.. sure, Harrington" I winked.
"Fine" he sighed " what flavours?"
"Just chocolate please, Stevie"
He prepared my cone as Robin came out from the back.
"Hey there" She smiled.
"Hi" I quietly said with a small smile.
She went to clean something on the counter as Steve handed me my cone.
"You need to stop being this nervous around people" he sweetly whispered.
"It's not that easy" I told him.
"I think you two could get along well" he told me "you both enjoy tormenting me."
"It's not that easy" I repeated.
"Okay" he came around the counter to get closer to me, wrapping an arm around me "Listen, I won't force you to talk to anyone, you know that. But I'm sorry, I just don't understand why you feel so nervous to talk to... well.. anyone. You're amazing. You're smart, you're funny, you're kind. No reason to feel insecure. Believe me"
"I do believe you, but everytime I'm in front of someone I...freeze" I explained.
"No need with Robin, at least try with her. She's actually very chill, no judgment from her" he suggested.
"Fine.. fine you win. I'll... put some effort.. tomorrow" I agreed starting to walk away.
"Oh no no, today, honey" he said moving me, with his arm still around me, towards Robin.
"Where we at, Wheeler?" Robin's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Closing in on a minute" she answers, I can tell she's tense, we all are.
"C'mon, Steve" I whisper.
We all wait and wait and wait, tension getting harder to stand, the more we wait the more I want to jump in myself.
Suddenly, though, Steve emerges from the water startling us.
"Oh christ" Eddie yells.
"I found it" Steve declares.
"You found it?"
"I found it. Yeah. I found it." Steve confirmes, panting and grabbing the boat.
"Dustin, you are a goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate"
"It's pretty wild. It's more a snack-size gate than the mama gate, but still, it's pretty damn big" he explains, but as soon as he finishes the sentence he's briefly dragged back into the water.
He emerges again, confused only to be dragged all the way back in again.
"Steve!"
We all yell.
"What the hell was that, man?" Eddie yells.
"Really, what happened?" Robin asks.
"Fuck fuck fuck" I mutter looking at Nancy staring at the water, I know exactly what she's thinking, the same thing I've been thinking all this time.
She stands up ready to jump in, but Eddie stops her.
"You're not going in there, are you?"
"Just wait here." She says "you too" she looks at me and then dives in.
"Nancy!"
"No Nancy!"
I stand up too.
"Hey hey hey, no what are you doing?"
"Don't even think about it"
Both Robin and Eddie tell me as I'm taking off my jacket and shirt, remaining in my top.
"Oh c'mon, you don't actually expect me to stay here while they're down there." I reply.
"She told you to stay here too" Eddie tries.
"Yeah? Well... I don't care" I take a deep breath and jump.
I swim following Nancy down to this red-ish light, and through the gate.

Hold Her Hand
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Henderson!reader
Song Inspiration: Prom Night by the Midnight
Minor spoiler to season 4, episode 4
There's an open road And now an open door And a pretty girl's hand beside yours Do you know what to do? She looks at you Can you leap from the ledge and bridge the two halves of the world?
[y/n] Henderson had always been a constant in Steve Harrington’s life. When he was bullied by Greg Green in October of preschool for his Easter Sunday shorts, she told Greg he looked like broccoli in his monochrome outfit. When he aced the hardest second grade spelling test, she was his desk mate telling him how lucky he was when she only got a 70%. When he had his first kiss in third grade, she did too behind the jungle gym in front of their classmates. When he lost the class hamster in sixth grade during H week of hamster parenting, she was on the floor in his laundry room enticing Nibbles with a piece of apple. When he pushed Johanthan Byers into a row of lockers in tenth grade, she disapprovingly shook her head and helped Jonathan up. When Nancy broke his heart, she watched Police Academy on repeat on his couch consuming ice cream. When he went to prom, she made sure the corsage he gave her survived when he pulled her to the dance floor. When he first tried on the Scoops A-Hoy uniform, she sat on his bed and told him “You should wear this and only this” before he pushed her off. When he put the last of her boxes in her car, she smiled and said, “Don’t let any broccolis bully you or Dustin while I’m in college.”
They still maintained some consistency despite the distance. Every Thursday night at 9pm was their designated call time, letters were to be sent once a week and most of all, his constant love for her.
There was a time last summer, after the Star Court mall and grief was flowing, where they found themselves on his kitchen floor. Where she smiled at him in a similar way she smiled at Dustin and he knew they loved each other.
But leaving for college meant Steve lost her, because you can’t be a constant when you're miles away in Indiana University.
And that lack of consistency made it hard for him to breathe. Their months apart made him realize how much he relied on her unwavering heart and steady grip on his hand to get through the days.
Hold her hand We'll never pass this way again Hold her hand Forever I will slow dance Her breath is deep as you make it There's a chance if you take it And a heart that you break is still a heart Hold her hand Hold her hand
There was another constant in the Harrington and Henderson dynamic. The sad constant of finding themselves on the Wheeler’s basement couch taking a break from scheming.
“Hey,” [y/n] whispered, gaining his attention. “Would you rather have feet for hands or hands for feet?”
“What the hell, Henderson?!” he whispered confusedly as he faced another constant. The constant Henderson siblings need to ask idiotic and strange questions.
“You looked miles away, and I’d much prefer talking to you than being alone with my thoughts.” She whispered back, not even raising her head from his chest to meet his gaze.
“Why don’t you join dreamland like sleeping beauty?” Steve gestured to the youngest Henderson passed out and drooling on her lap.
“Again,” [y/n] began finally meeting Steve’s gaze allowing Steve some time to breath. “I’d much prefer talking to you than being alone with my thoughts…or nightmares.”
Steve could see the sadness in her eyes. Consistency had allowed him to learn to read them and he knew she was worried.
When everyone broke for the night, the Scooby Doo Gang had dispersed across the Wheeler house. Nancy and Robin were sleeping in her room, Max had planted herself at the basement table, Lucas and Dustin went to Mike’s empty bedroom and [y/n] and Steve stayed seated on the couch. They had spent the first hour playing board games but when Dustin came back with a blanket and a pout, Steve put them away before following [y/n] to the couch.
There's an open floor As the chorus soars And a pretty girl's hand beside yours Knows what you'll find But the threshold shines Can you leap from the ledge and bridge the two halves?
Returning her head to its place above his heart, Steve followed her line of sight to Max. Daylight would break soon and the ginger girl hadn’t stopped her writing all through the dark hours.
“She’s going to be fine. We’ll figure this out.” A warm hand rubbing down her back had her shifting her attention back to Steve. He didn’t return his gaze, instead staring at the basement support beams but the flush on his cheeks let her know he was aware.
[y/n] Henderson had two consistencies in her life, well three if you count her mother. She craved the consistency, it made living in the town of Hawkin’s bearable. Dustin had been her best friend since he was born. She never resented bringing him along with her friends and she liked spending time with his friends. It was a notable joke that the Henderson siblings had twin telepathy despite the age gap. Dustin and [y/n] knew that the other would always be there, no distance or demo-whatever could stop them.
But her other constant, she wasn’t sure about. They had never experienced distance further than vacations and Hawkin’s town lines. Alphabetical order destined them to be seatmates and project partners in their early years. But as they grew, the consistency and banter kept them together in their later years, even before the Upside Down.
However, the Upside Down brought a shift. Her constant protectiveness of the kids and need to control fell off around Steve, he helped her carry the burden. A shift along the trajectory from Dart to Demodog that made her realize maybe her constant warmth around him wasn’t of platonic friendship but of romantic love.
Hold her hand We'll never pass this way again Hold her hand Forever I will slow dance Ger breath is deep as you make it There's a chance if you take it And a heart that you break is still a heart Hold her hand Hold her hand
“Stop staring.” Meeting her soft gaze, Steve tried to hold a deadpanned gaze.
“I’m admiring.” She teased accompanied with a smile and a nose boop. Biting her finger, Steve revealed in her giggle and halfhearted attempt to get her finger back.
Finally releasing her finger, Steve let [y/n] wipe her spit covered finger on his old Hawkin’s basketball t-shirt. She was matching him, but the earlier group’s verdict was that she pulled it off better. He claimed mutiny but Robin claimed it was scientific proof that she was prettier.
Steve didn’t know much about science. But in sixth grade, Mr. Clarke paired him with [y/n] to make a presentation about hypotheses. What he remembers, other than his sweaty palms and racing heart, was that a hypothesis could only be confirmed after testing.
And [y/n] Henderson proved to be a true scientist. She tested his definition of pretty every time she made eye contact with him.
Steve decided to swallow the constant flutter of butterflies beating around in his heart. "You’re going to wake Dustin and then we’ll have to deal with a pouty-man baby.”
“You’re a pouty-man baby, Harrington. Dusty is a pouty-teenage baby.”
“Yeah, but we’re your pouty babies.” Steve held his breath as the words left his mouth. Over the million times he planned his confession to [y/n], never did he imagine it would be as soft as it actually was.
Prom night turns to daylight we discovered Friends become lovers under covers
Searching his eyes, [y/n] was reminded of the T.S. Eliot quote about the world ending not with a bang, but a whimper. They covered it in ninth grade English where she spent everyday trying to stop hoping that her hands would brush the boy in front of her when they passed up their homework. But contrary to the quote, this was their beginning.
“Yes, you are.” [y/n] replied softly, noticing the hopeful glint Steve was trying to suppress.
“Are what?” Steve needed the confirmation. Between his dad, his reign as King Steve and Nancy, Steve craved the assurance. The assurance that he wasn’t bullshit, that he was good, that he was smart, that he was enough.
[y/n] knew all this and was happy to be that constant assurance. “Mine. My pouty-man baby.”
Taking her hand in his, he sought to maintain the fairytale constant of a true love’s kiss. After placing a kiss on her hand, he laced their fingers. Giving a squeeze to his hand, [y/n] placed their joined hands down and returned her head to its rightful place over his heart.
Hold her hand We'll never pass this way again Hold her hand Forever I will slow dance Her breath is deep as you make it There's a chance if you take it And a heart that you break is still a heart Hold her hand Hold her hand
The uncertainty was still there, they had no plan or explanation for what was happening and how to stop it or if they would all survive. But consistency had taught Steve Harrington that with [y/n]’s hand in his, they would figure this out.
A/N: This is my attempt at a song inspired fic so I’d appreciate any feedback!
A/N 2: I tend to oscillate between annoyance and denial about the Steve and Nancy situation in season 4. So piece is the reaction to the denial but there’s a chance I’ll be writing a part two AND separate angsty Steve x Henderson!reader piece.

“Steve, hand me your keys.” (Y/N) put her hand out.
“What? No, you’re not driving my car.”
“I’m not driving your car, just hand me the keys. It will only be believable that I brought Max here if I have some form of keys with me.” She looked at him, “Trust me on this.”
Steve reluctantly gave her the keys, “When did we decide you were also going in?”
“We didn’t decide anything…” She trailed off. “But if anything goes south I can be a distraction for Max to get what we need.”
Steve looked at her for a minute as if he was trying to read her mind, he sighed, “Fine. Be careful.”
“When am I not?” She asked him sarcastically as she exited the car, Max following behind her as they went up the driveway. “If there’s anything you don’t want to talk about with her, tap your foot three times, I’ll figure out how to get you out of there.” She whispered to Max as Max rang the doorbell.
“Max, (Y/N), hi.” Ms. Kelley opened the door, greeting the two girls.
“Hi, we’re so sorry to bother you over break but… do you have a minute to talk?” Max placed her hands in her jacket pockets, (Y/N) put hers in the back pockets of her jeans.
Ms. Kelley looked between them for a moment, “Um, yeah, of course. Of course.” The girls entered the house, (Y/N) looking over her shoulder and nodding her head as she made eye contact with Steve and Dustin.
“Okay. They’re in.”
“I’m missing collarbones, not eyes.” Dustin hopped in the front seat, “So… we gonna talk about it?”
“Sorry, talk about what?” Steve stopped looking at the door of the house and turned to Dustin.
“Your temporary insanity earlier today when you defended Nancy against (Y/N).” Dustin raised an eyebrow at him.
“First of all that's not what happened.” Steve rolled his eyes
“Pretty sure that's what happened. It was pretty public and there were a lot of witnesses.” Dustin smirked at his older friend.
“Are you implying I still have a thing for Nance?”
“No, we all know you have a thing for (Y/N), but defending your ex-girlfriend isn’t going to get her to like you again, trust me.” Dustin said matter-of-factly.
“I was just trying to protect a friend.”
“Hmmm sure, because (Y/N) isn’t your friend and Nancy was the one who needed to be protected at that moment?”
“That’s not what I said.”
“You implied it and now I know why (Y/N) got mad.”
“I don’t want to talk about it, I’ll punch you so hard your teeth will fall back out.” Steve looked over at Dustin, frustrated.
“Whoa too far.” Dustin glared at Steve.
“Not cool, sorry.” Steve shook his head.
“Not cool… it’s okay.”
Tumblr media
“You sure you want (Y/N) in the room while we speak.” Ms. Kelley asked Max as Max sat down. (Y/N) placed the car keys on the counter next to the bowl filled with other keys.
“Positive, she’s the one who suggested I should visit.” Ms. Kelley raised an eyebrow at the older girl who just shrugged and stood next to the bookcase in the corner looking over the books as Max spoke.
“It’s just with everything that’s happening with all the murders it’s… it’s making everything worse again.” Max began, nervously fiddling with the zipper on her jacket.
“You’ve experienced trauma, Max, and when you keep your feelings, your pain bottled up the way you do,” Ms. Kelley looked over at (Y/N) for a brief second, “it doesn’t take much to trigger them again so now when it rains it storms.”
“Yeah I know…” Max trailed off. (Y/N) picked up a book and started reading the back of it.
“Do you think you’re ready to talk more about that night?” (Y/N) turned her head to look at the two of them. She watched Max for a second and saw Max tap her foot three times.
“I live where it happened.” (Y/N) spoke as she set a book down and pulled the keys from her pocket.
“I’m sorry?” Ms. Kelley turned to look at her.
“Where Chrissy’s body was found, I live in that trailer with my brother and my uncle, you should know that right?” (Y/N) walked over and stood next to Max’s seat.  “The cops asked me a bunch of questions when I got home this morning, they even asked Max a bunch of questions too…” (Y/N) set her hand on the back of the chair. “Did they talk to you? I mean, I know you were seeing Chrissy.”
“(Y/N), you know I can’t talk about Chrissy or any other student.” Ms. Kelley shook her head.
“Yeah, but, I mean what if she was being stalked by someone… did Chrissy mention anything…?” (Y/N) trailed off,
“... Or who might have done this?” Max asked.
“I’m… I’m sorry, I… I really can’t discuss this. You wouldn’t want me to talk about you to other students right?” Ms. Kelley waved her hands around.
“You know, if I were dead and it would help catch the killer, then yeah, I most definitely would.” Max said, (Y/N) tried to hold in her laughter.
“Well, let’s leave that up to the police, shall we?” Ms. Kelley responded.
“Yeah, you’re right, the police who barely let me into my home, you know I wasn’t even allowed to grab more than a change of clothes? They totally have this under control.” (Y/N) said sarcastically and rolled her eyes.
“Can I use the bathroom?” Max asked suddenly.
“Sure. Up the stairs, to the left.”
“Thanks.” Max got up out of the seat, walking up the three steps.
“(Y/N)... do you want to talk?” Ms. Kelley asked the older teen.
“No, not really.” She scoffed, glancing over to see Max with the keys in her head, she gave her a slight nod before making her exit.
“Here she comes, here she comes.” Steve tells Dustin as they see Max.
Max entered the vehicle, “Where’s (Y/N)?” Steve asked her.
“(Y/N) you really should talk to someone.” Ms. Kelley began.
“And talk to who exactly? Max? She’s dealing with her own trauma and I don’t need to dump mine onto her.” (Y/N) crossed her arms over her chest, “Or better yet, I should call up my father in prison and tell him ‘Hey what’s up? I hate your guts’? Or should I go visit my mother’s grave and tell her I hope she’s getting her ass kicked in whatever afterlife there is and that I hope she’s suffering the way she made Eddie and I suffer for several years before our uncle got us out of that house.” (Y/N) vented, waving her arms around as she talked.
“(Y/N), that’s not what I meant and you know that. Have you tried talking to your brother, your uncle, Jennifer?” Ms. Kelley asked concerned.
(Y/N) scoffed at the mention of Jenny, “Jennifer and I aren’t exactly talking at the moment.”
“And why’s that?” Ms. Kelley turned around and pulled out a notebook and pencil.
Fuck, (Y/N) thought, she fell right into the trap Ms. Kelley had put out. (Y/N) bit the inside of her cheek and thought for a second fine I’ll play into it, “You know, Ms. Kelley,” She tilted her head to the side, “There are some friends who turn to strangers right?” Ms. Kelley nodded her head, unsure of where this was going, “Well, some friends turn to targets. Especially friends who promise to not keep secrets or tell lies.” She laughed slightly, “You know I never once kept a secret from her, and yet here she was for months fucking my brother behind my back… and look mercy is virtue and all but all I want to do is hurt her.” (Y/N) was lying through her teeth, of course she was hurt because it was kept a secret from her for who knows how long, but she didn’t want to hurt Jenny, she’d never want anything bad to happen to her - that’s her best friend for life.
“(Y/N), don’t say that. You don’t mean that and you’re going to regret saying that.” Ms. Kelley stopped writing and looked up at her.
“The only thing I regret is everything I wish I had said to you yesterday.” This was it, this was her ticket out of this house and as far away from Ms. Kelley as possible, “I hate everything about you. You think you’re helping us kids, you’re not, in fact you’ve made me a hell of a lot worse than I was, and honestly every conversation I have with you makes me feel like you’re going to take me behind the shed old yeller style to see what’s going on inside my head.”
(Y/N) smirked slightly as she finished, Ms. Kelley was unable to speak or move, “Did you want that sugar coated? Because honestly this is the most cathartic feeling I’ve ever experienced. Besides, what do you want me to say? I can’t help it that I feel so heartless.” (Y/N) smirked fully now, and turned to walk away, “Bye Ms. Kelley, have a nice life!”
“(Y/N) hold on we need to talk about this!”
“No we don’t!” She shouted as she turned the corner.
“Yes, we do, (Y/N) these outbursts aren’t normal.” Ms. Kelley followed her.
“You see, that's the beauty of us only having conversations once a week about my past trauma… you don’t know what my normal is.” (Y/N) opened the door and closed it running across the street towards Steve’s car.
“There she is.” Dustin pointed at (Y/N) as she got to the car, opening the door and jumping into the back.
“What did she say?” Steve asked her.
“Nothing, just drive.” She slammed the door closed.
“Nothing?”
“Steve! I said drive!” She shouted at him and he hit the gas.
Tumblr media
Max and (Y/N) sat in the back seat of Steve’s car, looking at each other and having a silent conversation with their facial expressions. Max lifted her eyebrows up and down twice before nodding her head towards Steve, (Y/N) tilted her head in response and furrowed her eyebrows. Max glared ever so slightly before nodding her head toward the older girl and then towards Steve.
(Y/N)’s eyes widened slightly and her lips slightly opened in an ‘o’ shape, she looked at the back of Steve’s seat and then shook her head before making a ‘holding a shotgun’ gesture followed by a fake gesture of love, and then stuck her tongue out and pointed at her mouth like she was going to vomit. Max giggled at the gestures catching the attention of both Steve and Dustin.
“What are you two laughing at back there?” Steve asked them, looking at them through the rear view mirror.
Max rolled her eyes, “Boys.”
“Us?” Dustin turned around in his seat to look at them.
“If the shoe fits.” Max responded, causing (Y/N) to laugh. Steve smiled at the sound, having missed it and still missing when it was him who would make her laugh.
“Dustin, do you copy?” Dustin’s walkie talkie sounded.
“Lucas? Where the hell have you been?” Dustin responded.
“Just listen. Are you guys looking for Eddie?” Lucas asked frantically.
“Yes! We found him, no thanks to you.” Dustin rolled his eyes.
“You found him?”
“A boathouse on Coal Mill Road. Don’t worry, he’s safe.”
“You guys know he killed Chrissy, right?”
(Y/N) scoffed before leaning over the center console and grabbing the walkie.”Hand me that, that’s bullshit Sinclair and you know that! Eddie tried to save Chrissy!”
“Then why do all the cops say he did it?”
Max grabbed the walkie from (Y/N), “Lucas, you’re so behind it’s ridiculous, okay? Just meet us at the school. We’ll explain later.”
“I…I can't. I think some real bad shit’s about to go down.”
“What are you talking about? What bad shit?” Dustin took the walkie talkie back from the girls.
They all sat only hearing static for a minute, “Lucas? Lucas?!”

Notes: I haven’t written in a long time so I’m pretty rusty but feedback would be greatly appreciated. The title is taken from a Florence and the Machine song but it seemed fitting and will hopefully make sense later on.

Andy pulled up to the seemingly abandoned shell of a house, he had made sure to take the long way round to the side. He could never be too careful when it came to Chucky and Tiffany, if he had learnt anything from the past 4 years it was that they follow no rules, seemingly not even Damballa’s.
As he swiftly began to circle the house to find a way in he soon spotted the vintage red car outside of the front of the house that he now knew belonged to Tiffany Valentine. He was about to continue his search; the less contact with Tiffany the better for the time being before noticing movement inside and with a closer look he saw the boy he had spoken to not even a couple of hours ago.
He had known something was up with him when he had searched the house but his focus had shifted when he got a call from Kyle about another kid at Charles Lee Ray's old house and forced himself to believe that Junior was at least safe for now. Now knowing that was false, a million thoughts and fears began to run through his head with one solid fact making itself heard the loudest. That kid is in some form of trouble. With that fact controlling his mind, Andy quickly made his way toward the vehicle and the kid inside.
It was only as he began to get closer that he realised Junior was not alone, there was someone in the back seat, a woman, seemingly unconscious. Her face was slowly revealed with the light coming from the street as Andy made his way closer before realisation struck him in the chest.
Nica.
His pace immediately quickened. He had failed horrifically to save her before; at least that's what he told himself and he refused to let that happen again with either of the people in the car.
As Andy reached the car, Junior immediately turned to him, knife trembling in his hand.
“What the hell are you doing here?” he asked, voice trembling.
“I could ask you the same thing. Jesus kid what were you thinking?!” Andy clapped back. Junior looked at the knife in his hand before dropping it as if it had just burned him. With a trembling voice he suddenly blurted “I,I didn’t mean to, I just wanted to get away from my dad. Chucky said he would help me get rid of him ‘cause he was an asshole. I didn’t know he was working with Tiffany, I didn't know who she was and now I don't know what to do!”
“Okay Junior, you need to come with me. Whatever happened, we will figure it out but you're not safe here.” Andy knew the worst had happened but he also knew how manipulative Chucky could be and he wasn’t going to give up on this kid yet. He knew it could take some convincing but right now he only needed to calm him enough to get him and Nica out of there.
“No, I don’t have a choice anymore. Someone is gonna find my dad’s body, I'm a killer now. I have to go with them.” Junior responded, his voice thick with fear and defeat.
“Junior, I have dealt with Chucky almost my entire life, we will work it out ok? Your dad will just be classed as another one of the murders, I’m sure not all of them can be pinned on you but we need to go now.” Junior looked at him before giving a small nod and moved to open the door, it was only when he turned back that he saw Andy looking behind him and followed his gaze to the woman unconscious in the back seat. What did Tiffany call her again? Not Chucky, that was before she slapped her and then she seemed to change. Nancy? No. Nica! That was it.
“I had never seen her before,” He quickly explained to Andy, “She was already here when I arrived. I think there’s something wrong with her. She was acting like Chucky until Tiffany hit her and then her voice changed and sh, she was suddenly terrified.”
"She's still in there..." Andy muttered under his breath.
"What? Who?"
"Nica. She's possessed, Chucky possessed her a few weeks ago. I guess I thought she was gone."
"Is she a friend of yours?" Junior asked, ghost of a smirk on his face.
"It's a uh, long story." Andy responds, slightly flustered as he sees the look on Junior's face.
"Look, my car is parked 'round the side of the house. You head over there I'll be right behind you." Andy quickly opens Nica's door as Junior starts making his way to the car. He continued to head towards it before stopping in his tracks and turning back to Andy, now with an unconscious Nica in his arms.
"Um, Andy. There's something else, my friend is still in the house and-"
"Yeah, Devon right?"
"Yeah but um, Tiffany is kinda booby trapping the door." Andy stops in his tracks.
"Booby trapping the door with what?"
"A uh, it looked like a bomb"
"Great!" Andy mumbles under his breath whilst awkwardly reaching for the keys in his pocket and tossing them to Junior.
"Look just do me a favour right now and unlock the car will you"
"Yeah, sure but how did you know about Devon?" Junior questions as he unlocks the car and moves to open the back door for Andy to put Nica down.
"From me." Kyle announces, making her way closer to the car. "Andy Barclay what the fuck were you thinking ditching me at the gas station?!" Andy let out a long sigh in return.
"Oh I dunno, maybe something along the lines of: let's make sure my sister doesn't get killed by Chucky or his wife?" he responds, closing the car door slightly harder than necessary to emphasise his point.
"Oh yeah, just leave her stranded at a creepy gas station instead. She's perfectly safe there!" With that her eyes move to Nica on the back seat. "For the love of God don't tell me you are taking another Chucky hostage."
"What? No! It's not just Chucky, Nica's still in there too."
"Yeah, they switch. It's pretty weird." Junior chimes in, distracting the siblings from their bickering. "And Devon is still in the house so I'm thinking we should do something about that."
"Yeah. Junior, wait here with Kyle." Andy decides as he heads towards the house.
"Woah, hang on!"
"Yeah! What about the part where the door is booby trapped?"
"Which is why I'm going in through the window." Andy responds before turning to Kyle, "and don't give me shit about making stupid decisions, you talk about me being shorter more than enough. So I'm the one going through the window."
"Alright, Jesus! Just for fuck sake don't get yourself, or Devon, killed." Kyle responds not even trying to hide her amusement.
Once Andy was out of sight, a few more beats of silence passed between the other two before Junior spoke up.
"So, you're Andy's sister?"
"Yup."
"And he ditched you at a gas station?"
"Uh huh, what about you? What your excuse for bein' here?" Kyle returned as she lit up a cigarette.
"Oh um," Junior started, nervously looking at his feet. He wasn't sure what it was exactly but something made Kyle seem far more intimidating to him than Andy was. "Chucky. I guess."
"He got you to kill someone didn't he?"
Junior nodded slowly before responding, "My dad. But to be fair he was a grade A asshole!"
"Yeah, I'll take your word for it." Junior looked up at that, Kyle's tone seemed unusually calm and understanding for just hearing someone admit to patricide. It certainly intrigued him, not to mention made him feel like less of a monster than he had since finding out the truth about Chucky.
"Was your and Andy's dad an asshole too?"
"Well, technically speaking we're foster siblings."
"So YOUR dad was an asshole."
"Never met him, that's how much of an asshole he was."
"Right." Junior gave a small smile at that, he felt slightly less alone. Accepted, he guessed rather than having to prove himself like he did to Chucky.
The moment was swiftly interrupted as Andy approached the car with Devon close behind."We've gotta leave now."
As if on queue, a loud shriek of anger pierced the night air.
Tiffany.
"Shit!" Kyle cried, stomping out her cigarette before seeing Andy's look of disapproval, "We can make a plan over the phone."
"Yeah. Junior, Devon, with me okay?" Andy responded as he climbed into the driver's seat. And Kyle headed over to the car she had acquired. "Okay Devon, call Kyle." Andy instructed, passing the phone to his right as they began to speed off, Kyle on their tail.

Not What I Expected Ch 2
It’s Autumn in 1985 and Eddie is being harassed because he sold weed to the wrong girl.  Steve is still trying to get over Nancy and might have found the one person that can help him achieve that goal. Meanwhile, Robin has some secret romantic intentions of her own.
Pre Season 4 and not canon compliant with season 4

Eddie rolled out of bed earlier than he wanted to, but if he didn’t wake up on time, he wouldn’t have a ride to school. His van was still out of commission, the shop having not gotten back to him yet. He tried to fix it himself but couldn’t figure out exactly what was wrong. He knew Jason and his cronies were behind it, but he couldn’t prove it.
So, he was currently relying on Steve Harrington of all people to drive him to school. He was surprisingly an ok guy. Back when he was at Hawkins High too, he played basketball with Jason and the others for a while. He couldn’t imagine him doing this with them. Though he did remember hearing about what happened to Jonathon Byers and his camera, so maybe Eddie was wrong about him. Or maybe he’d just grown since then.
He did seem like he’d improved when he got involved with Nancy Wheeler. She was the good girl extraordinaire, and Eddie was kind of surprised when they’d started dating. Not that he made it a habit to follow the lives of others, but Hawkins wasn’t very big, so it was common to know things about others whether you wanted to or not.
Eddie pulled on some clean clothes, tamed his curls with his fingers and brushed his teeth. He looked at himself in the mirror and took in how tired he looked. He’d stayed up way too late the night before though it wasn’t fully by choice, insomnia something he dealt with from time to time. It wasn’t long before he heard a car pull up outside. One peek out the window and he could see Steve’s car, Dustin in the front seat with him.
There was no denying that Steve was attractive. Plenty of girls had crushes on him and once or twice Eddie had looked his way. But playboys like Steve were not interested in guys, especially guys like Eddie. He had briefly thought to himself the night before when he lay awake staring at the ceiling that Steve would look awfully nice in his room, on his bed, maybe a few clothes less than normal. He’d had to force that thought away before it riled him up too much. There was no point in lusting after a straight boy.
Eddie locked the door behind him, his uncle not yet home from the night shift. Eddie had wished a few times now that he’d pick him up first and it could be just them and maybe he could talk to him. Dustin wanted so badly for them to get along that it was awkward to just chat in front of him. He always watched them with this big grin like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Adorable little weirdo. Eddie had a feeling that while Dustin had all his friends from childhood by his side, he and Steve were his BEST friends. The two people he felt closest too. And Eddie had no problem getting to know him for Dustin’s sake…or his own reasons.
The car was warm when he slid into the backseat. Robin wasn’t with them today. Too bad, Eddie liked her. She cut through the awkward with endless ramblings that just got Eddie going too. Steve had threatened to kick them both out several times now. He got a vibe off her that she might be like him, but he wasn’t 100% sure how to go about asking her without her getting mad or defensive.
“Everyone ready?” Steve asked, locking eyes with Eddie in the rearview mirror for the briefest of moments before quickly looking away.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Eddie smiled, slouching down against the leather seat.
Steve put his car in drive, but Dustin stopped him, pointing out his window. “Wait, Max is still home. Can we give her a ride too?”
“Sure, why not. I’m basically a school bus at this point.”
Dustin ignored his comment and rolled down the window, sticking his head half out. “Max!!” He yelled probably louder than necessary causing her to jump before looking their way. “Want a ride to school?”
She seemed a bit annoyed as she marched across the way to the car. Eddie had seen her before given that their trailers were so close. He also knew she was friends with the boys and had dated Lucas previously. Eddie himself hadn’t had any interactions with her.
When she sat in the car, she gave him a weird look like she hadn’t been expecting him to be there and maybe she wasn’t too happy about it. He wasn’t sure why she seemed weird about him, but maybe she’d heard the rumors at school and didn’t trust him.
“It’s way too early for you to be yelling that loud.” She said, turning her attention to Dustin.
“Sorry, wanted to make sure you could hear me through your headphones.”
“I could hear you if I were on Mars.”
“Alright, quit bickering and buckle up. I actually have things to do today besides carting you all back and forth to school.” Steve griped.
For the most part the ride was quiet. Max (he’d have to remember her name) replaced her headphones over her ears and stared out the window. Dustin occasionally tried to start a conversation, but it didn’t seem Steve was in the mood, and it would quickly die again. It wasn’t a long drive to school and when they arrived Eddie was almost glad to get out of the car even if it meant school.
He thanked Steve like he did every morning and afternoon as he stretched, staring out at the school and all the people milling about. This was the last place he wanted to be most days and now that he had a gang of ball throwing neanderthals after him, he’d literally rather be anywhere else. He hadn’t even really done anything to invoke their wrath.
It was pretty common knowledge that Eddie sold weed to anyone and everyone who asked and was willing to pay. Chrissy Cunningham had come to him a few weeks ago asking if some weed before bed might help her sleep. Someone had seen them talking and reported back to Jason “I own my girlfriend” Carver.
Except things got twisted. They’d decided Eddie was trying to get her hooked on drugs and convince her to dump Jason for him. If only they knew he had no interest in Chrissy, or any other girl for that matter. It didn’t matter that Chrissy said they were just chatting about homework or that Eddie pleaded innocent time and time again. They’d decided he was a villain, and they were some sad superheroes and it was their job to get rid of him.
They didn’t do much on school property, afraid of getting in trouble. But they threw plenty of threats his way. And then there was his van.
He sat in the back of the room for his first class of the day, already tuning out. He wasn’t exactly a quiet, hide in the shadows kind of guy, but he found that if he kept a low profile, they’d be quieter. Most days he didn’t care but others, like today, he wanted nothing to do with them. He was way too tired to sling insults and pretend he wasn’t pissed as hell. One wrong word or move and he might actually clock Jason and he was trying to avoid trouble. He was determined to get the hell out of Hawkins high by the end of the year and never look back.
Chrissy was a nice girl and he’d enjoyed their chat, but if he’d known it would all come to this, he would have sent her away immediately. Typically, he didn’t discriminate, this was how he made his money, but maybe he’d need to be a bit more cautious of who he was seen talking to. Secret meetings only from here on out.
In the blink of an eye, half the day was over. Though for Eddie it felt like it had dragged on forever. His group of misfits were already at their preferred table when he walked into the lunchroom, having dragged his feet the whole way there. In the lunchroom he was exposed to whatever douche baggery they had in store. And he was pretty easy to spot, sitting at the head of their table in his rightful spot as DM.
They were already chatting when he arrived and greeted him when he joined them. He plastered on a smile, genuinely content being surrounded by the group he’d assembled. Gareth was in the middle of a story that had everyone enthralled. Eddie half listened while he scanned the lunchroom. So far he saw no sign of letterman jackets or angry glares sent his way.
“Eddie?” It was Dustin calling out to him from three seats down.
“Dustin.” Eddie greeted, turning to him.
“You ok?”
“I’m wonderful Dustin. How are you?”
Dustin smiled but it was halfhearted. “I’m doing ok, I’m just worried.”
“Worried? What do you have to be worried about? You’re safe and healthy, surrounded by your friends, enjoying halfway edible lunchroom food. What could be better?”
Dustin’s smile became a bit more genuine. “I’m just worried about you.” And then his smile was gone. “You seem…distracted.”
Jeff nodded. “He’s right. You’ve been acting different ever since the douche brigade started bothering you.”
“Nothing to worry about. There’s nothing they can do to me that we won’t give back tenfold. Right?”
They all agreed, getting a bit riled up.
“Just a few more months and I’ll be far away from here anyway. Their pathetic insults can’t hurt me, can they?” They shook their heads or chorused “no” in response. “Do you doubt me?” Again, they said no. “Alright then, no need to worry.”
Dustin didn’t seem fully convinced and as lunch ended, he pulled Eddie aside. “I know what you said but you know you can talk to me about it, right?”
Eddie wrapped an arm around Dustin’s shoulders and pulled him to start walking. “I know, man. I promise I’m fine though. Ok?”
Dustin nodded, finally giving a little smile for real. “Oh, just so you know, my mom is picking me up early for a doctor's appointment. Steve said he’d still pick you up though.”
Oh. Eddie didn’t know what to think, but then he remembered the little redheaded girl that would likely be riding with them too and he relaxed a little. Sure, he wanted to be alone with him, but he also knew it probably wasn’t the best idea. Whenever he was around attractive straight guys, he had a hard time controlling himself. It was then he remembered…
“I’ve got detention tonight, so maybe call him and let him know not to worry about it.” He was almost disappointed.
“I told him this morning. He says it’s fine.” He’d already complained to all of them about the detention and what a waste of time it was and just forgotten.
“Really?” Eddie raised his eyebrows. “Huh. Ok then.” How accommodating, he thought. He could understand if Dustin was getting a ride too, but just him? Why was he being so nice when they’d barely even spoken to each other? It couldn’t just be because he was friends with Dustin, could it?
**
Detention was long and boring. He’d only gotten it because Mr. Jones called him an idiot in class, and he returned the insult with an added double one finger salute. It was such a stupid reason to get detention, especially while Jason and the basket cases were roaming around free. Most of his teachers were sick of him and hoped he would either graduate or drop out. Most were betting on the latter. Fuck ‘em.
By the time he was out it was practically night. A bit of light remained making the world look grey. Steve wasn’t there yet, though detention had been let out early probably because the monitor got sick of sitting with them. Eddie dropped his bag and plopped down on the grass to wait for him. It was a bit chilly, autumn speeding toward its end and winter just around the corner. Maybe he wouldn’t show up. Maybe Dustin had misunderstood. Eddie figured he’d wait for a while and if there was no sign of Harrington, he’d suck it up and walk.
He was definitely tired now and couldn’t wait to get home and pass out. Of course, the universe had other plans for him. As always, some force seemed to be out to get him. He wasn’t really paying attention to things around him, zoning out and trying to stay awake his main priority. So, he didn’t see the three people walking towards him until they were practically on top of him.
Jason led them toward Eddie with an expression he guessed was supposed to be intimidating. Eddie sighed and rolled his head up towards the sky. He just wanted to go to bed.
“What could you possibly want from me now?” He asked, not sure he really cared about the answer.
“I keep asking Chrissy what you said to her, and she won’t tell me. She just keeps saying that you’re not as bad as everyone thinks. What did you do to her?” Jason snarled, making Eddie roll his eyes.
“I’ve told you already, but you just don’t want to hear the answer. She wanted weed, she came to me, we talked for less than five minutes.”
Jason grabbed Eddie by the collar, something he seemed to enjoy, and hauled him up to his feet. If he weren’t so disgusted by him, that show of strength might have turned him on. Eddie stumbled a bit trying to get his footing. He didn’t want to do this, but he would if he had to.
The world almost went into slow motion as Jason drew back his fist. Eddie barely had time to react before it collided with his jaw, knocking his head to the side. He stumbled back but Jason held him up by the shirt. Eddie swung back and caught Jason in the eye, his ring leaving a satisfying scratch, making him let go of his shirt. Eddie advanced on him, ready to swing again, but he was outnumbered and the other two grabbed him by the arms. They held him in place even as he jerked against their hold. There wouldn’t be many teachers left on campus and those that were wouldn’t be watching for students outside. They were the only ones around and Eddie was stuck.
Jason swung again and hit Eddie in the stomach. He let out an “oof” and doubled over the best he could while being held. Jason lifted his hand to his eye as blood began to slowly trickle, before he grabbed Eddie’s hand and forced one of the rings off his fingers. He chose the one shaped like a pig’s head, the ears hard and sharp enough to do some damage. He slipped it onto his middle finger and then swung at Eddie’s face, hitting him just above his left eye. Eddie felt the warm blood on his skin a second later. The next punch landed on his cheek, slicing along his cheekbone.
Eddie’s ears were ringing and his vision in his right eye blurred, his left shut to prevent blood from getting in and already swelling. He pulled on his arms with all the strength he had in his body, but they were stronger than him. That’s what happens when you spend all your time playing D&D and not sports. He tried swinging his legs and managed to catch Jason in the side and that earned him another hard punch to the stomach that knocked the air out of him.
He was sure they’d beat him into unconsciousness at this rate when a blinding light fell on them. Maybe they’d killed him and that was the light calling him to heaven. A second later a car horn beeped loud and long and Eddie saw the light wasn’t the pearly gates, but a cars headlights.
“Hey assholes!” He knew immediately that it was Steve. “Get the fuck away from him!”
They chorus a string of “shit, shit, let’s get out of here” and then they let him go and ran. Eddie fell to his knees, the force of it rattling through his legs. He caught himself on his hands as he pitched forward. He saw his ring on the ground in front of him and he grabbed it, his blood on it still warm.
Then Steve was beside him, his voice sounding far away as he scooped him up under the arms and lifted him to his feet. He leaned on Steve as he was half carried to the car. Steve ran back and grabbed his bag, throwing it in the backseat as he climbed into the driver’s seat. Gripping the steering wheel, Steve stared at his hands for a minute. Eddie dropped his head to his shoulder and looked at him. He looked furious and like he might be sick.
“Do I really look that bad?” Eddie asked with a bloody smile.
Steve tensed and looked at him with shocked eyes. “There is something seriously wrong with you.”
**
Steve should have been better at cleaning and patching wounds by now with how many fights he’d been in both with people and monsters. Still, he did his best as he cleaned the cut along Eddie’s cheek. The other winced as the antiseptic soaked gauze dabbed and brushed at the cut. He stayed as still as he could as Steve cleaned the wound and then closed it with 2 butterfly closures. His nose had long stopped bleeding but the dried blood in his nose itched. Steve had already cleaned and wrapped the cuts on his knuckles, his rings discarded on the desk.
Eddie glanced around Steve’s room as he worked. Never in his life did he think he’d be in Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington’s room. He knew he was rich, but his bedroom would barely fit in his trailer. Trophies and team photos lined the top of his dresser. How could a guy that used to play ball with the dicks that just jumped him be so nice? When they were in school together, he always thought Steve was just a typical jock douche. Maybe back then he had been. Now he was gently cupping Eddie’s face with one hand without seeming to realize while he cleaned the cut along his eyebrow.
When Steve looked down, Eddie was staring up at him through his eyelashes with doe eyes. He realized that his hand was still on his face, and he quickly turned away, picking up all of the garbage.
“That should be good.” Steve said, refusing to look at him.
“Thanks.” Eddie thought that was pretty amusing. Maybe Dustin had told Steve about him, and he felt uncomfortable being too close to him. He stood and started properly snooping through Steve’s room. Within reason of course.
Steve watched him from the corner of his eye while he packed up the first aid kit. There was something weird about seeing Eddie in his room, but it also sent a thrill through him that he still didn’t understand. He picked up one of Steve’s trophies and turned it over in his hand, a smile on his face.
“You’re not what I expected.” Eddie finally said, setting the trophy back in its spot.
“What’s that mean?”
Eddie shrugged. “I just thought you’d be…an ass?”
Steve scoffed. “Thanks.”
“Don’t pretend like you didn’t think I’d be different too.”
“No. I mean…I’d heard rumors but-.”
“See? It’s ok, you thought I was crazy and now you know I’m unbelievably loveable.”
That drew a real smile out of Steve. “And me? You thought I was an ass and now…?”
“Now I see you’re basically an overprotective soccer mom.”
Steve tried to look offended, but his smile only grew. “I am not a soccer mom.”
“You have like seven kids.”
“If anything, I’m just a really kickass babysitter.”
“Babysitters get paid.”
Steve didn’t have a response to that, so he just laughed, and Eddie joined him.
“I think it’s nice though.” Eddie plopped down on the edge of Steve’s bed with his hands back behind him.
Steve swallowed his nerves and the way Eddie on his bed made him feel. “What is?”
“How you take care of them. I’m guessing it started because of Nancy Wheeler.”
Why had he brought up Nancy of all people, the girl he loved, maybe still loved, while he was having a gay crisis about the guy in front of him.
“Oh…I mean, kind of, I guess. I got to know them a little bit because of Nancy. Her house is kind of the hangout for them.” Steve perched on the edge of his desk, as far away from Eddie as he could be without being obvious. “It was Dustin that kind of cemented my relationship with them.”
“He’s pretty good and wiggling his way into your heart, huh? Like a little happy parasite.”
Steve smiled at that. “That he is. I just feel protective of them. We’ve been through so much shit together. Fought together-.”
“Wait, you fought together?” Eddie raised his eyebrows in amusement and confusion.
“Well, I mean…figuratively.” Steve said his words slowly like he was trying to pick just the right thing to say. “I’ve just had to help them with a lot of tough situations is all.”
“Like…?” Eddie wasn’t going to let this go.
“Like…Billy. Max’s older brother. He was super against Max dating Lucas or even hanging out with him. He ended up finding out they were friends and tried to hurt him, so I stepped in and saved the day.”
“Didn’t Billy beat the shit out of you?” Everyone had heard that Billy had kicked Steve’s ass about a year ago, and Dustin confirmed it.
“I totally got in a few good hits. He was bleeding when I was done with him.”
Eddie chuckled, finding Steve’s depiction of the fight cute. He was trying to appear tough and strong. It seemed like he was though. Maybe not physically, but he fought for what he thought was right and that was nice.
“Now that Billy has died, do you regret beating him to a pulp?”
“Absolutely not.” Steve didn’t even hesitate. “He was crazy and racist and hurt Max. He had it coming. Nobody hurts my-.” He cut himself off.
“Your…what?” Eddie’s grin stretched across his face. “You were going to say your ‘kids’, weren’t you?”
“What? No. I was going to say, ‘my friends’, obviously.”
“Sure, you were Steve. There’s no shame in admitting you’ve taken on all these children as your own. It’s cute.”
Steve just about choked on air at Eddie calling him cute. Didn’t he know that he was the cute one? That every time he smiled Steve just about melted inside. Steve was slowly coming to accept the fact that, yea, Eddie was an attractive guy. That didn’t mean anything though. But when the silence stretched on and Eddie’s smile dissolved into a deep frown, Steve felt a pain in his chest.
Eddie leaned forward, putting his elbows on his knees, his head down and his hair hiding his face. The reality of the last forty minutes came crashing down on them. Steve’s heart had just about stopped when he pulled into the parking lot and saw Eddie held between two guys, Jason beating on him like he had something to prove. He was glad just his presence was enough to scare them away, because he was seconds from ripping Jason’s throat out and feeling so guilt about it. The car ride back to Steve’s place had been quiet as he sped through the empty streets.
He could have taken him home, but his first instinct was to get him somewhere he thought he’d be safe. Steve’s house was pretty secluded and decked out with the best security system money could buy. No one would be getting to Eddie unless Steve let them in. Steve also knew that he had a decent first aid kit hidden in his room. It had come in handy one too many times and he kept it well stocked for the next time someone beat him senseless. All he cared about in the moment was getting Eddie safe and cleaning him up. Now, he realized, he should have been worrying about his mental state as well. When Eddie sniffled, Steve pushed off his desk and came a little closer.
“Hey, you good?” Steve asked.
Eddie nodded his head, or at least it looked like he did. “I’m cool.” His voice was thick with tears, and he kept his face hidden still.
“Look, they’re assholes. You didn’t deserve that, ok? I’ll get you some aspirin to help with the pain.” Eddie nodded again and Steve came closer. “I’m not going to lie; you’re going to wake up feeling like you’re hung over and got hit by a truck. Stay here, my moms had this huge jacuzzi tub put in that will help with the body aches.”
Eddie looked up to find Steve was towering over him. “Seriously? You’d let me stay here?”
Steve swallowed thickly when he saw his face. Red and dirty and streaked with tears, his eyes still wet. “Yea. It’s probably not safe for you to go back out there tonight.” His own voice sounded miles away as he couldn’t take his eyes off Eddie and felt his chest get tight.
Eddie cracked a small smile that was still so pretty, it was blinding. “Thanks, Harrington. For everything. Really.”
He stood so they were face to face and something in Steve just broke. He reached a hand up without even realizing and brushed a stray hair out of Eddie’s face. His hand stayed, trailing down Eddie’s jaw before cupping his cheek once more. Eddie sucked in a surprised breath as Steve closed the distance between them and planted a lip crushing kiss on Eddie’s mouth.
Part of Eddie was confused and part of him was so lost in that fact that Steve fucking Harrington was kissing him that he didn’t even care what this might mean. He put his hand behind Steve’s neck, holding him into the kiss and their lips parted and crashed back together. It only lasted about a minute but felt like an eternity before Steve came back down to earth and pushed Eddie back hard enough, he fell back on the bed.
At first Eddie thought that maybe Steve was trying to move things along, but when he looked up into his panicked eyes, his stomach filled with dread. This wasn’t his fault. Steve had kissed him, surely, he had to know that. Steve just stared at him, a million questions and a million emotions passing over his eyes. Finally, he seemed to find his voice and spoke.
“You can stay in here. I’ll sleep…somewhere else.” He didn’t give Eddie a chance to say anything before he practically ran from the room, slamming the door behind him.

Poly party summer fun headcanons, part 2 ! 😀 (this got way too long so I’m posting it as it is, and if I get more ideas, or if you guys want to send me anything 😉, I’ll either reblog this post or make a new one.) Enjoy!
(part 1 can be found here)
Amusement park: (these are based on amusement parks I have been to since they're all I know, lol)
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
- they go early so they can do everything (twice) but they also stay until it gets dark bc El wants to see all the lights
- one of her favorite rides is the big ship that swings back and forth because it feels like flying
- Max, Lucas, and Dustin take El on her first roller coaster ride, and it's super scary but she also loves it (Robin and Nancy go, too)
Lucas and Dustin scream like little girls on the roller coaster and become the butt of many jokes about it (most of them from Max)
Max and Lucas would totally try to kiss for the roller coaster camera (idk why okay, stop me) but the photo would look absolutely ridiculous and Max’s hair is fuckin EvERYWHERE
El uses some of her money to buy a copy of the photo (she buys a copy of their photo from every ride, it's a lot of money, but the others help her out with it), and when she gets home, Will helps her make a collage of all the photos that she puts up in her room
- El also wants caricatures, but they don't have enough money for everyone (so she just gets one of herself). Will watches the artist, who gives him tips on how to do it so he can draw some for El later (and he totes does bc good brother vibes)
- they do the ferris wheel last bc it is super romantic (even more so at night), and everyone wants to go with everyone else. Max wants to go up every time someone else does bc she wants to try to spy on them, lol
Groups, in order from side to other side (sitting, not riding order):
for her very first time: Max/El/Mike (her two bffs, aka her bf and gf)
Mike/Will
Max/Lucas
Dustin/Suzie
El/Max/Lucas
El/Mike/Will
El/Mike
El/Max
the guy running the ferris wheel is just like “you kids again???” bc they keep just getting off the ride and going straight to the back of the line to go up again, but eventually they have to stop bc the park is literally about to close and they’ll be kicked out
- there's also a haunted house ride and El absolutely has to ride with Mike bc when she is scared or feels like she's in danger, he's always been the best at making her feel okay again. She clings to him throughout the ride, but ends up laughing at how cheesy not-scary most of the effects are.
- as exhilarating as the drop rides are, El doesn’t like going on them too much but she can do it like, once. maybe twice.
- Lucas and Max, and Dustin and Will, like that ride that’s like the ferris wheel except you’re in a cage and you can manipulate the cage (by spinning it and stuff) to take you upside down. Dustin and Max do it too much, like to an extreme, and Will and Lucas are like “stop, the world is literally spinning” and they’re very disoriented when they get off
- there’s a rapids ride, and since the rafts are big enough to hold 8 people, the whole party is able to go together in one, and then the teens can go together in another one. they totally get sprayed by bystanders.
- there's a shooting game (like where you go through a tunnel on a track, and targets pop up and you shoot them)
Lucas is the best and El rides with him bc the best should introduce the newbie, and she has so much fun, it's nothing like the guns she's experienced in her previous (lab) life.
Max and Dustin fight really hard to be second best.
Mike and Will go together and compared to the others, they suck, but that's okay they have fun anyway, and they joke about their own terribleness.
- Dustin buys those deep-fried snacks (you know the ones I mean) and he is literally the only person in the group that likes them (okay, not true, Robin can handle them, too)
El, against the advice of the others, wants to try those snacks bc she’s never heard of anything like that before, and the first time she takes a bite, her face goes through a range of like 10 emotions bc she’s being assaulted by flavors-
but after she manages to swallow it, she’s like “wow, that was amazing” and the others are like “...you serious??”
Mike is just like “that is disgusting and I’m not kissing you after that lol” and El is just like “but...why?” (he totes does tho, he doesn’t give a f, he’s kissing his gf bc he just can’t resist the cuteness)
Nancy, even though she doesn’t necessarily like it, can totally handle taking a bite and finishing it (like that beer from season 1) and Robin is like “that’s impressive, band geek” and Nancy’s just like “I’m not in band” (idk lol)
- El wanting to try EVERY food but the others have to cut her off bc it’s so expensive and she will get so sick
- Mike being a good bf and holding souvenirs bought by his bf and gf (Will totally buying a sweet little something for his awesome mom) (El totally doing the same thing to remind herself of Hopper, but she keeps it in her room instead)
- Lucas also being a good bf for the same reason but complaining about it, lol
- everyone goes on the log ride (you might know it as the flume) bc there isn’t a person on earth who doesn’t like that ride, and even tho she knows about the impending splash, El is still super surprised when it happens
Groups, in order (front to back):
El, Mike, Max, and Lucas (Max is explaining to El over Mike’s shoulder that “you absolutely HAVE TO be in the front, it’s the best way”)
Suzie, Dustin, Steve, and Robin (irrelevant but don’t tell me Robin sits in front of Steve, there’s no fuckin way, she’s not his gf, also Steve and Dustin just have to sit together bruh)
Will, Dustin (bc obvsly he goes on again), Nancy, and Jonathan
Mike has his arms around El like he thinks he’s going to protect her from the huge spray of water (but his skinny arms won’t protect shit lol) and he somehow manages to make a decent photo come out of him kissing her cheek while she is simultaneously screaming (good screaming)
- everyone loves the bumper cars (Jonathan and Suzie hang back tho, to hold everyone’s stuff and cheer from the side)
Max, as the only one (sans teens) who has actually driven a car before, rides with El so she can teach her how to do it
her and Lucas (with his passenger Will) are automatically in competition with one another (”you’re going down!” “no, YOU’RE going down!”)
Robin, riding by herself, goes after Steve and driver Nancy (who’s surprisingly good at this)
and Dustin (passenger Mike) gangs up with Robin to take on Steve and Nancy, which makes Nancy even more determined now to destroy both of them
Steve’s a little afraid of Nancy when she’s like this, lol
eventually Dustin and Robin are like “okay okay, we’ll stop! jesuschrist, how did you get so good at this??” (but also they are just in total awe of Nancy) and they just go after each other instead
- El doesn’t like spinning rides (too dizzy and they totally make her tummy “feel weird, like there’s a storm in it” “uh oh, you’re nauseous, El” “naw-shus?” “yeah, like sick, here, sit down for a minute”), but Will loves them and he’s there for her
- the sky ride (the one that takes you from end of the park to the other), groups:
Mike and Will on one side, Max and El on the other (the seats are basically little cabins, seats for 4 people)
Lucas and Dustin on one side, Jonathan and Steve on the other
Robin on one side (she totally takes up the whole double space, putting her leg up), Nancy and Suzie on the other
- carousel ride! (during the day)
El wants the prettiest horse
Max gets the most badass thing which is like...a wolf??
Lucas and Dustin ride only bc there’s a game where you can try to throw rings into a hole while going around (they each get one in by pure luck but otherwise suck). they don’t really care what animals they get, they just need ones that move up and down. Dustin gets a cat with a fish in his mouth, and Lucas ends up just picking a rabbit before everything is taken and he doesn’t have a choice anymore. The others fuckin laugh at the image of Lucas riding a rabbit
Suzie gets another horse
Will gets a lion which doesn’t move up and down but he’s okay with that, he’s kinda just going bc everyone else is
Mike gets stuck with a horse bc he was at the back of the group and by the time he gets there, every other non-horse animal is taken (but they joke about how he should have gotten the non-moving giraffe, taken by Steve, bc it’s so tall and gangly like him lol)
Nancy gets a horse
Robin takes the wild boar bc “dude that is the most badass animal on a carousel I have ever seen!”
Jonathan stays behind, no matter how much the others beg, but he takes lots of really good pictures (including the one time Dustin gets the ring in the hole and then cheering, then also him and Lucas high-fiving, and the various couples exchanging really cute looks, and El having the best time ever bc she’s never been on one of these before)
they go on the carousel one more time near the end of the night and this time Jonathan gives in and rides with them, but he sits in one of the benches that’s just there for the parents), and he still takes pictures as best he can without getting up and moving
- photo booth photos! (I’ll leave the silly face ones up to your imagination)
El and Max (one super close hug with faces pressed together, one kiss, one silly faces, and one smiles)
Will and Mike, but Max and El totally burst in for like, the last 1.5 pictures, it doesn’t ruin them tho, Mike and Will just ignore them (one nice smiles bc they’re like “what do we do??”, one hug, one kiss being interrupted by the girls in the background, one candid laughing while the girls wave at the camera)
Will and Mike again (one candid of Mike holding the curtain shut to make sure no interruptions and Will laughing, one kiss (non-interrupted), one silly faces, one just being super cute and close together and leaning on each other)
Max and Lucas (one smiles, one kiss, one of her pretending to look tough by putting him in a headlock or putting a fist next to his face like a punch, one that was supposed to be funny faces but instead is her looking off to the side where Mike has opened the curtain and stuck his head (with his tongue out) in as revenge and Lucas with that look of “dude, really??” on his face)
Dustin and Suzie (one kiss, one smiles, one nose-to-nose, one super close together leaning on each other cute)
Mike and El (one smiles, one kiss, one of him like surprise-trying to pull her into his lap kind of thing idk and her just looking super surprised but happy but also Max is in the background ruining YET ANOTHER picture, and one candid of them giggling about the previous picture with their foreheads pressed together almost nose-to-nose)
Mike and El again bc she wants non-interrupted photos (one with her actually sitting in his lap this time (she did this beforehand so he wouldn’t scare her again with the surprise-pulling thing), one of them pretending to look all hoity-toity like super models, one with her arms around his neck and his arms around her waist and they’re all close and cute sort of candid, and one just like the last one except they’re looking at the camera and smiling)
Will and Mike and El (one with Mike in the middle while his gf and bf give him a kiss on each cheek, one with El hanging over Mike’s shoulders in sort of a half-piggyback and he and Will are laughing, one with Mike and Will kissing while El makes a funny face at the camera, one of them all making funny faces at the camera)
Max and El and Mike (one with El in the middle, Max’s arms are around her waist almost dipping her backwards, her legs are up in the air (as far up as they can go in the tiny booth) and her head is tilting back onto Mike’s shoulder with his arms around her shoulders and he’s pressing a kiss to her hair, one with El kissing Mike’s cheek while he and Max make funny faces, one with Max behind them and her arms over both of their shoulders pulling them all close and their faces squished together with this super big cheesy grin while Mike is laughing at El’s funny face, one with Mike and El kissing and Max sitting next to them making the 👌🏻 symbol and winking at the camera, bc she just has to get sassy)
Bonus, more teens:
- Robin takes Steve on all the crazy rides (aka drags him, makes him go, etc.) They both get a little sick, but for her it's totally worth it (for him...not so much)
- Dustin and Robin get along hella bc he joins them on the crazy rides and is just @steve like “what are you, a pussy?”
- Nancy has to remind Jonathan that the kids will be FINE, and they don't need to hover around them all evening, "let's go enjoy ourselves"
- Nancy likes roller coasters, CHAnGE mY MInD
- Steve and Robin totally scream when they go on the drop ride together, except Robin’s scream is more “holy shit, exhilarating and so exciting! whooooo!” while Steve’s is more “this is fun but also I’m totally gonna die!!”
- Steve is a boss at those games where you have to throw something at/into/onto a target and he wins a stuffed animal
- Robin is p decent at those games too, but she’s not a match for the king (she comes close though, they actually turn it into a competition to see who can win more stuff)
- Nancy kicks butt at that game where you shoot a spray of water and make the target thing rise to the top or race or whatever (any shooting game, really), you know what I mean (Jonathan fucking fails, sorry Jonathan)
- Steve totally wins that game where you swing a mallet and try to ring the bell. Robin doesn’t win but she gets way closer than they thought she would and Steve’s “wtf”. Dustin is also stronger than he looks, and even tho he doesn't win, he can at least lift the (smaller) mallet, which is more than any of the others can do.
- Robin HAS to do that game where you try to climb the flat, almost horizontal rope ladder to the end and she doesn’t even make it halfway before she falls, but it’s hilarious
- Nancy also tries that game after some goading from the others, and she makes it farther than Robin (about halfway) but still fails fantastically. And then she takes a bow.

As a kid, you don’t have much say in the trajectory of your life as the years go by. Your parents will have expectations; ideals, really. They aspire to see you grow up as they did; be what they once were; do what they once did. They really just want you to be like them.
And why is that?
Your teachers will emphasize every year that your dreams are what you make them; that you are the captain of the ship named “My Life”, and that you are the sole determiner of the course that ship will take.
But what happens when others have come aboard your ship, taken control of the steer, and claimed it as their own?
What happens when you can no longer have a stake in where your life takes you?
Tumblr media
Steve can always be found leaning against the wall of the gym, staring at the ground, with his hair tied up in a messy bun, and his basketball shorts hanging loosely off his hips.
As you make your way over to him, your backpack strap slipping off your shoulder again and again, you wonder what’s happened with his dad this time.
Because it’s always his dad.
“Hey there, Harrington,”
“Hey there yourself, missy. Debate team run long?” He glances up at you, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“Sort of - Nancy was getting a little too into it again,”
“When’s she gonna let you be captain?” You shrug in response, struggling to keep a steady hold on the mountain of books you were carrying.
“Here, let me-” Steve catches the few books that manage to slip of the top with ease, chuckling loudly as you lean against the wall opposite him.
“I swear, I’m gonna need three backpacks just to carry all these,”
“You can have mine if you want - it’s empty anyways,”
“We still on for homework and dinner tonight?” Steve nods, grinning as he opens up his bag and drops the books inside.
“Whose cooking will I be enjoying later this evening?” He asks as leans towards you.
“Lasagna, made by yours truly! My mom said pizza is on her this weekend, so...”
“Sleepover?” You nod, zipping up the bag and slinging it over your shoulder.
“Can you drive me to practice Saturday morning then?” The two of you start walking towards the student parking lot as Steve continues. “John and the boys want to run a few extra drills before the first home game next week,”
“I can’t believe I’m gonna lose you to basketball practice so soon, it feels like just yesterday was the end of the season,” You say, kicking the car door wide open with your foot before dropping your backpacks in the backseat.
“Well, technically it was last month. But it’s state finals, baby! We gotta get in A-game shape!”
“I hate when you talk like that, it scares me like nothing else ever has before,” You both burst out laughing as you get into the car, Steve’s hand reaching over to take the car keys from you.
“It’s our junior year, sweetheart. You of all people should know we have to finish off strong. If I don’t get us the state championship, I might as well kiss college goodbye,”
You roll your eyes at him, snatching the keys out of his grasp before he can protest.
“Yes, I know. Regardless, you should still apply and try to get in with other scholarships and achievements besides basketball, Steve. Okay?”
He nods, eyes closing slowly as he turns to face the window.
“Whatever you say, sweetheart.”
Tumblr media
On an early Saturday morning, the last thing you expect to see is your childhood best friend barging into your bedroom, telling you to wake up before he’s late.
“Wha- What time is practice at? It’s a Saturday, for crying out loud!” You throw a pillow at Steve’s face, groaning as you cover your own with the duvet.
“I’m telling you, it’s the finals! C’mon, I can’t be late for this and you promised you’d drive me!”
The whole car ride to Hawkins High, Steve was tapping his fingers on his knees, his eyes focused on the road.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this anxious to get to practice, Harrington. Something up?” You ask as you pull into the driveway, parking just outside of the gym doors. He says nothing, and instead gets out of the car, and moves to open the backseat doors to grab his bags. You lock them.
“Hey, c’mon now!”
“Tell me what the heck is going on with you first!”
You look at him sternly, pointing at the passenger seat. Steve sighs, and plops back down, not even bothering to meet your gaze.
“Steve, you know I’m not gonna let this go. What’s up?” He crosses his arms over his chest, leaning his head back against the headrest of the seat.
“My dad… he’s been giving me a bunch of shit lately for coming home with shit grades, no job… he keeps saying I won’t get anywhere if I don’t make the basketball thing work, and he’s always on my ass about my plays and shit after every game, even though Coach says I’m the best Hawkins’ has had in years, and I’m the fuckin’ team captain. I’m just sick and tired of hearing that ‘I’m not good enough’ from him when I’m doing everything I can, you know?”
Steve’s eyes are shut tight, and you know it’s because he’s fighting back tears. You rest your hand on his arm, saying nothing as you start to count his breaths.
1… 2…. 3…. 4…. 5
“I know you’ll prove him wrong, Steve. You always do. You’re better than he’ll ever be.”
Steve only nods, swallowing thickly as he mulls over your words.
You always know how to make him feel better - especially when it comes to his dad. Ever since you were kids, you always stuck by his side, comforting him and reminding him that he was everything his father was not, and it reminded him that at least he had one person on his team. He was always glad that it was you.
“T-Thanks. And sorry I didn’t say anything before now-”
“No worries. You know I’ll never push. Now get out of my car and show your dad you can take his ass in basketball any day, okay?”
He opens his eyes, smiling as he locked eyes with you. He takes your hand in his and squeezes gently before letting go and stepping out of the car to grab his bags.
As he shuts the door, you roll down the passenger window.
“Need me to swing by later or you good?” He shrugs, looking over the car at something in the distance.
Patting the car roof, he says, “I’ll let you know, yeah?” before heading off into the gym.
As soon as he loses sight of your taillights, Steve books it.
Running across the street without a second glance, Steve can barely pick up the pace as he tries to keep his bags from slipping off his shoulders.
Almost there.
He’s almost out of breath, but he finally makes it.
As he drops a bag to the ground, the bus pulls up to the stop where Steve is standing, the tires coming to a sputtering stop as the doors open.
Picking up his duffel, Steve boards the bus, and flashes the driver his round-trip ticket.
Once settled in a seat, he sets down his bags in the one next to him and finally looks out the window as the bus pulls away.
The sign reading “Now Leaving Hawkins” flashes by, bringing a smile to Steve’s face as he leans back in his seat, eyelids fluttering shut.
Logansport, here I come.
Tumblr media
Skates strapped on, helmet secured, and hockey stick in hand, Steve is ready for anything.
Well, almost anything.
He’s already on the ice, squatting in front of the net as he watches the team inch closer and closer with the puck coming right for him.
He hears it before he sees it.
Dodging right, Steve manages to knock the puck off course and straight into the rink wall, some of his teammates cheering loudly behind him as he picked himself up off the ice.
“Nice one, Harrington!”
“What a save, newbie!”
Steve turns around, and is greeted with congratulatory waves and pats on the back as they make their way back to the box.
Well, almost.
Before Steve can step foot off the ice, he’s being pulled back into the rink by one of the older guys, who’s conveniently surrounded by some of his friends.
“Nick, was it?” Steve asked with a muffled voice, his mouth guard still in place.
“How many times you gonna make me look bad in front of Coach, huh?”
The grip on Steve’s shoulder tightened with every passing second, their eyes locked on one another.
“That’s not what I’m tryin’ to do, man,”
“Sure it’s not. Learn to stop kissing ass man, it doesn’t look too good on you,” He spit on Steve’s jersey before pulling off his helmet.
“I will when you learn to make a hard pass, and stop making it so easy for me to block your shots.” Steve pulled off his helmet and dropped it on the ice, the contact making a lasting sound across the empty arena.
“You’re really in it huh, Harrington? Let’s see what you got,” Without warning, Nick moves head on towards Steve, shoving him hard against the tempered glass boards surrounding the rink. Steve feels the back of his head collide with the glass, and thinks for a moment that he’s about to pass out on the spot. He feels blood trickling down the side of his face, and tries his best to wipe it off with the backside of his glove.
Before he can re-orient himself, Nick pulls Steve to him and punches him right in the jaw, his gloved hand scraping the underside of his jaw just before he hits him again.
Steve lifts up his knee and tries to hit Nick straight in the balls, but misses as Nick moves backwards, pushing Steve onto the ice. Before he hits the ground, Steve grabs Nick by the ankle and yanks it towards him, forcing him down with him, and they both hit the ice with a loud thud.
Before he can get up, Steve gets kicked on both sides by Nick’s friends; he can’t make out their faces as the right side of his face is already starting to swell up from the punch.
Hands suddenly appear on his arms, pulling him upright. Steve can barely make out Nick as he comes towards him, pummeling straight onto the ice again with two swift punches - one to the face, and another to the gut.
Steve lands on his side and winces as he hears the unmistakable sound of his shoulder popping out of his socket.
“Fuck,” is all he manages to get out before losing consciousness.

Flashes of bright white bring Steve back to the land of the living, and he finds himself sitting upright on a hospital bed. He glances down, wincing at the sharp pain shooting down his neck, and finds his arm in a sling, a band of ice packs wrapped neatly around his shoulder.
Way to go, Harrington.
Before he makes any sudden movements, a doctor appears outside his door, tapping his clipboard with a pen.
“Well, Mr. Harrington, you’re lucky that shoulder injury isn’t more severe.”
Steve laughs awkwardly, barely nodding as the doctor moves closer to his bed.
“A harder push, or a different surface of impact, and we’d be looking at a separated shoulder in need of surgery. You’ll need to stay off the ice for the next four weeks though, I’m afraid.”
“No way for a quicker healing turnaround, Doc?” Steve smiled, wincing immediately from the flare of pain in his jaw.
“No can do, mister. If you want to regain full use of that thing, I suggest you keep your sport activities to a minimum, and stay off the ice. I have a painkiller prescription for you here,” The doctor flashes a piece of paper, “in case the pain lingers. If you dislocate it again, you’ll need to come in so I can re-examine it, alright?”
Steve nods in response, grimacing at the random flashes of pain he was getting from his shoulder and neck.
“Your friend is waiting for you outside; I’ll let her know you’re awake,”
Before he could ask any questions, the doctor stepped out, and was replaced by you.
Shit.
“Glad to know you’re not dead.”
“Can this… can we wait until we get home? I promise I’ll explain,” Steve says hoarsely, a weak smile appearing as he tries to appease the anger he knows is boiling over inside of you.
“Explain everything, or I’ll make sure that shoulder pops out again.”
Tumblr media
The whole ride back to Hawkins was nerve wracking for Steve; a dead silence filling the car, your eyes focused on the road, your mind focused on the different ways you could kill Steve and get away with it. He was terrified of how upset you were, and he knew you were devising some sort of plan for revenge and honestly? He couldn’t blame you.
You were his best friend, after all. And he, yours.
Of course it pissed you off that he ran off to God knows where without telling you and almost died after a stupid, unfair fight.
This was the first secret he’d kept from you in years, and he just hoped you’d forgive him.
Growing up, he put you through a lot of shit, but you always forgave him, no matter what. Whether he’d just broken your brand new bike, or the time he accidentally elbowed you in the nose and broke it, or the five times you had to call firefighters to your house because Steve accidentally set something on fire.
No matter what, you forgave him.
But he’s painfully aware that this time around is different, because he lied.
And that’s one of your sacred rules.
No lies.
The day you agreed to be friends, you made a pact that you both swore you’d honor to the grave - dramatic for a pair of five year olds, but nonetheless. You shook on it, and ever since then, it was the one rule left untouched - until now.
Once you pull into the driveway of your house, you help carry his bags into the house.
“Go wait upstairs,” was all you said after slamming the front door shut, and Steve followed directions.
You tossed his things into the empty coat closet by the bathroom before heading to your bathroom, where you grabbed some rubbing alcohol, cotton balls and some gauze. Then you head off to your room, where you find Steve sitting on the edge of your bed, looking mopey as ever.
After shutting the door, you turn to look at him.
“Well, you better start talking, Harrington.”
You lean back against the door, crossing your arms over your chest as you waited for him to speak.
“This wasn’t how I wanted you to find out but,” He sighed, using his good hand to brush back some hair that was falling across his face. “I- I’ve been training and playing with this, this club hockey team over in Logansport for the last few months and,”
“Months?” You interrupt, scoffing at the fact that he had been lying for months now.
“I swear, I was gonna tell you-”
“When? Before or after you got a life threatening concussion?” Steve laughs sarcastically, shaking his head as he drops his gaze from you.
“Before, I promise. I just- I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision - that hockey was really what I wanted to do before telling you. ‘Cuz once I tell you, there’s no going back, and you know that.”
You want to protest his comment, but bite back your tongue instead. Maybe he has a point.
Supporting Steve’s dreams and ambitions meant making sure he followed through on them. Ever since you were both six years old, if Steve told you he wanted to do, be, or have something, you were right there by his side, championing him until he succeeded. But sometimes he’d want to quit, and you wouldn’t let him.
“Anyways, there’s no point in holding out anymore. I joined the club hockey team because I wanna quit the basketball team this summer, after the finals. That’s why it's been a secret for so long - I had to make sure I could do it, and that I wasn’t setting myself up for failure by joining a team for a sport I wasn’t too sure I’d be good at, or even liked. I know I should’ve told you sooner but I wanted to do this for myself, and-”
“For being one of the brightest people I know, you sure know how to pull some idiot moves, ya goof,” He brightens up at your back handed compliment, and flashes you a smile as you look at one another.
“You forgiving me then?”
“Only if you promise to stop hiding stuff from me,”
“I swear, this was it. You have no idea how much I wanted to tell you, honest,” He raises his hand up, chuckling when you roll your eyes.
“So what’s your big plan then?” You sit down next to him, and cup his face gently, turning his head just enough so he was facing you, and start applying the alcohol on the cuts littering his face.
“Get us the state championship, quit before summer session starts, and start practicing with the club hockey team to get ready for the fall season. Easy, right?” He laughs softly and drops his gaze down to his slinged arm as he winces from the sting of the alcohol.
“You’re forgetting something,”
“What?” He glances up, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“How are you gonna break the news to your dad?”

Strangely Complicated (Pt. 5)
Tumblr media
If you haven’t read the first 4 parts, here is the Season 1 Masterlist!
Setting: S2•E1 [MADMAX]
Warnings: swearing
Notes: I’m so excited to start season 2!! Bringing Billy in is going to spice things up ;) enjoy you guys!!
It was that time of year again. The leaves changed from green to variations of orange, red, and yellow. The air was cool and Halloween was nearly upon us.
The fall season meant that it had been nearly a year since Will Byers went missing. Nearly a year since me, Jonathan, Nancy, and Steve fought an otherworldly creature. Nearly a year since Steve kissed me outside the hospital.
But that exciting time of my life was now only a vivid memory. I figured the thrilling moments of my life were now just a part of my past, and that I should accept my normal reality. But that all changed in the fall of 1984.
I began the dreaded school day sitting on the hood of my car, my favorite novel in my hands. Jonathan had left only moments ago to head inside, but I was lingering. I couldn’t stay focused on my book and I didn’t mean to stare, but I noticed Nancy and Steve kissing in his car just a few yards away from me. It made my heart ache.
I fiddled with the pearl bracelet that Steve had given me last Christmas- a soothing technique I had acquired over the last several months. I locked my eyes at the ground, hoping they wouldn’t notice that I had been staring.
Just then, I heard a loud car engine coming up behind me. I turned my head to see a blue Camaro pull into the parking spot next to mine.
I didn’t recognize the car, so I figured it was someone new. The driver’s door opened and a boy with curly dirty blonde hair, who I assumed was about my age, stood next to his car. He had a cigarette between his fingers and took a quick drag before scanning the area around him. He was extremely attractive, and the looks of him made my heart swell in a way it hadn’t since Steve and I had our little affair.
Everything about him screamed ‘cliche bad boy’, and that honestly made him a bit more intriguing.
Meanwhile, a redhead girl got out of the vehicle and rode away towards the middle school on her skateboard. I assumed she must be his sister.
I didn’t want to be like all the other dimwit girls in my school, gawking at the new guy, so I redirected my focus on the book that was in my hands.
I could tell the mysterious boy was staring at me, but I refused to lock eyes with him. My eyes stayed glued to the page, although I wasn’t actually reading the words, until he walked away.
As he turned away from me, he flicked his cigarette and strutted towards the building. I couldn’t help but bite my lip and stare at how nicely his ass fit into his tight jeans.
I shook myself out of the daze and packed up my things to head inside.
Nancy, Jonathan, and I were walking out of our classroom as Tina handed out some orange flyers.
“Thanks!” Nancy said to her before turning back, “Could I get two more?”
Tina handed her two more of the flyers.
Nancy skipped towards us and handed us each one of the papers.
“You guys are coming to this.” She said.
“‘Come and get sheet faced’” Jonathan read off the page.
“No we’re not.” I said with a chuckle.
“I can’t let you two sit all alone on Halloween. That’s just not acceptable.”
“Well you can relax. We’re not going to be alone.” I said to her.
“We’re taking Will trick-or-treating.” Jonathan explained.
“All night?” Nancy asked.
“Yeah.” Jonathan said.
“No, no way. You’re gonna be home by 8:00... listening to the Talking Heads and reading Vonnegut or something... and (Y/N)’s going to be reading that same book she always does.” She said, gesturing to the book in my hands.
Jonathan and I looked at each other and shrugged, “Sounds like a nice night.” We said in unison.
“Guys... just come! I mean, who knows, you guys might even, like, meet someone.” Nancy said before Steve swooped around the corner and lifted her around by her waist.
She hit him playfully, “Oh my god! Take those stupid things off.” She said referring to his sunglasses.
“I missed you.” Steve said to her.
“It’s been like an hour.”
“Tell me about it.” Steve said before pulling her into a kiss.
It made me sick to my stomach. Jonathan and I stood there awkwardly for awhile before moving along down the hall.
“God I’m so sick of those two.” I said to him.
“Tell me about it.” Jonathan replied. “She’s so dumb for wanting to be with that Harrington guy.”
“Hey, it’s not the Harrington guy that’s the problem.” I said defensively.
“Oh, don’t tell me you’re still into him.” Jonathan said, annoyed.
“Trust me, I don’t want to be. Besides, it doesn’t matter. He’s too obsessed with your ‘Little Miss Perfect’.” I sighed before continuing, “C’mon Jon, let’s just stop with this... “
He agreed and the two of us continued on to our next class.
At the end of the day, I walked outside to meet Jonathan and Will at my car. I had my book in my hand and gazed off to one side, my eyes locked on Steve who was getting to his car. Then, Nancy showed up.
Barf I thought to myself right before bumping into a firm body.
I dropped my book on the ground and before I could bend to pick it up, the person in front of me grabbed it off the concrete and handed it back to me.
“Thank you.” I said in a sweet voice, before looking up to lock eyes with a pair of sparkling blue ones.
A sly smile swept across the face of my new parking spot neighbor. “No problem. I’m Billy. Billy Hargrove.” He said, grabbing my dainty hand to shake it. “You got a name?”
“Um, I’m (Y/N).” I replied.
“Nice to meet you, (Y/N). Hopefully we’ll get to see more of each other.” He winked before walking off to his Camaro.
Like most every evening, I spent my time at the Byers house with Will and Jonathan.
Jonathan and I stood outside Will’s bedroom and Jonathan gave the door a few knocks before going in.
“Hey bud. I didn’t know what you’d like so I got a variety.” Jon said to his younger brother, showing off the videos in his hand, “Take your pick.”
“Whatever you guys want.” Will said to us.
“All right...” Jonathan said before the both of us moved to sit on his bed.
“Whatcha workin’ on, little man?” I asked Will, noticing his drawing, “Zombie boy? Who’s Zombie Boy?”
“Me.” Will said meekly.
“Did someone call you that?” Jonathan asked him. There was no response, so Jonathan continued, “Hey, you can talk to us, you know that, right? Whatever happened.”
I playfully nudged him and said, “Will, c’mon, talk to us!”
“Stop treating me like that.” Will said looking from me to his brother.
“What? Like what?” I asked him.
“Like everyone else. Like there’s something wrong with me.”
“What are you talking about?” Jonathan questioned him.
“Mom. Dustin. Lucas. Everyone! They all treat me like I’m gonna break. Like I’m a baby. Like I can’t handle things on my own. It doesn’t help. It just makes me feel like more of a freak.”
“You’re not a freak!” I said, resting my hand on his shoulder.
“Yeah, I am. I am.” He said looking at me, then looking back down at his drawing.
“You know what? You’re right.” Jonathan said.
I was confused but curious to see where he was going with this.
“You are a freak.” He stated.
“What?” Will said.
“No, I’m serious. You’re a freak. But what? Do you wanna be normal? Do you wanna be just like everyone else? Being a freak is the best. I’m a freak. And (Y/N) is a freak, too.”
“Is that why you guys are each other’s only friends?”
“We have other friends, Will.” Jonathan said with an airy laugh.
“Then why are you guys always hanging out with me?”
“Because you’re our best friend.” I chimed in, “And we would rather be best friends with Zombie Boy than with a boring nobody. You know what I mean?”
“Look... who would you rather be friends with? Bowie or Kenny Rogers?” Jonathan asked.
“Ugh.” Will said, displaying a look of disgust on his face.
“Exactly. It’s no contest. The thing is, nobody normal ever accomplished anything meaningful in this world. You got it?” Jonathan said to his little brother.
“Well...” Will started, “Some people like Kenny Rogers.”
“Kenny Rogers?” We heard Bob’s voice from the hallway. “I love Kenny Rogers!”
The three of us chuckled, causing Bob to ask, “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.” Will said.
Bob examined the movies sitting on the bookshelf, grabbing one from the stack. “Mr. Mom! Woo! Perfect!”
The three of us died in laughter on Will’s bed after Bob left the room.
Not wanting to get stuck watching Mr. Mom while Bob laughed at every little thing, I decided to head home for the night.
As I drove in the darkness, I bopped along to What’s Love Got To Do With It by Tina Turner as it played on the radio.
I was a few miles from my house when I heard a loud pop come from one of my tires.
Great. I thought to myself.
I pulled to the side of the road to hear a loud hissing noise coming from the front tire. No one had ever thought to teach me how to change a tire, so I decided to walk on home.
I’ll just have to call Jonathan to pick me up in the morning and help me change the tire another time. I thought to myself.
I was casually strolling and enjoying the crisp night air when it began to lightly rain.
Of course. I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes.
A few moments later, the sound of a loud car engine came up behind me. The car’s distinct revving sound was familiar, but I couldn’t quite place it.
That was until the blue Camaro pulled up beside me. The passenger window rolled down and I looked over to see none other than Billy Hargrove in the driver’s seat.
“Need a lift?” He asked me.
I kept moving forward and said, “No thanks. I’m not trying to owe you some sort of favor.”
His car rolled along side of me, “C’mon, I hear standing in the rain will give you a cold. Just get in, no favor required.”
I hesitated, but decided I would rather take my chances with Hawkins’ new bad boy than walk the rest of the way home in the rain. I opened the passenger side door of the car and slid into the seat.
He asked, “Where to?” And I gave him directions to my house.
The car ride was awkwardly silent until Billy spoke up and said, “So are you and that Byers kid a thing?”
I rolled my eyes, “What’s it matter to you?”
“Just curious.” He answered with a smirk.
“If you must know, Jonathan might as well be my brother. And if you try anything, he’ll kick your ass. Should’ve seen what he did to Harrington last year.” I softly chuckled at the memory of seeing Jon beat Steve’s face in as I ran from the cops.
“That Byers kid beat up Steve Harrington?” He asked, in shock.
I nodded and noticed we were pulling up to my house.
“Well, either Byers is less of pussy than I thought, or Harrington is more of a sissy than I realized.” Billy said as he put the car in park.
I glared at him while saying, “Okay, if you’re going to talk shit about the two of the most important guys in my life, I’m gonna go.”
Billy looked at me in confusion, “Harrington’s important to you, too? I thought he was with that Nancy girl.”
I gulped before saying, “Well he is...” I looked down at my hands that sat in my lap, fiddling with my bracelet once again. “But we’re just friends, that’s all.”
“Oh, I see.” Billy said with a sudden realization, “You’re hung up on him while he’s in love with someone else.”
“Shut up, Billy. You don’t even know what you’re talking about. You’ve been in town for like one full day and you think you have everyone figured out.” I replied sharply.
“I don’t see you denying it.” He said.
I scoffed and gathered my things before getting out of the Camaro.
“Bye, Billy. I’ll hopefully not be seeing you around anytime soon.” I said before getting out and slamming the car door shut.
He rolled town the window and shouted, “See you tomorrow, angel!” He winked at me before speeding off down the road.
Who does he think he is?! I thought.
As my eyes followed the car down the street, I was caught off guard to see Steve, who was leaving Nancy’s, staring in my direction.
It felt as though time stopped when our eyes were locked. Then, he seemed to shake himself out of the trance and get in his car to leave.
I was curious if he recognized the vehicle or heard the words Billy shouted just a moment ago, but I decided to brush it off. I’d had enough bullshit for one day, so I decided to head inside, get some dry clothes on, and relax.

Unseen Things
Steve harrington x reader (pt.1 ch.2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: you spend Halloween with your friends trick or treating but before hand hopper attempts to get you to go to the party he knows is being thrown in hopes to get you to "get out there more" all while you deal with another horrorish vision
Unseen things playlist: season of the witch
Warning: swearing
So I meantioned somewhere that as the reader your ability are very much like jamie Lloyds in Halloween 4&5 so there will be a lot of refrences to the movies
~~~~~~~~
 You, for the most part keeper to yourself at school. You did hang out with jonathan but lately he's been hanging out with Nancy.
   You had nothing against her you just didn't get along. So you kept to yourself as soon as You hopped out of the car.
Nancy stopped walking alongside johnathan momentarily before quickly coming back.
She looked at an orange flyer she had graves before hastily handing it to him.
 "What's this?"
"You are coming...you can bring y/n!"
He rolled his eyes and handed it back. "No way neither of is Are party people."
   "You could be! You just aren't trying!....it'll be fun."
He hummed in response as they stopped at her locker. "C'mon what are you two doing tonight?"
"Taking will and the bits trick r' treating."
  "And you'll be home by eight and watch a video." She said boredly.
  "Sound perfect to me." She judged and opened her mouth to say something but stopped when Steve ran around the corner and scooped her up.
   Johnathan was heading down the hall when you stopping him. "Hey hopper." steve said upon seeing you. You sneered. "Harrington." You replied annoyed before turning on your heel to follow Johnathan down the hall to ask your question.
   Since you came to town and made the deal to go to school Steve harrington was always your worst enemy.
Even in sixth grade he picked on you. Though he wasn't as mean to you or johnathan this year,He was seemingly making an effort, he dropped Carol and Tommy H, actually seemed to care about school and made some effort in class But he needed to if he wanted to stay on the basketball team.
   You didn't hate him as much this year, it was nice to not worry about something like that any more.
    "Drop me off at the General store, I need to grab something."
"Need me to wait?" he asked pulling up on the curb. "Nah I'll see you at five!"
"You sure?"
"Positive! Go home I'm sure Bob is dying to see his favorite boy!" He rolled his eyes. "Five on the dot." You waved as he drove off and quickly headed into the store.
"The poster about costumes true?"
Joyce turned around to face you with a smile. "Y/n! Where is johnathan."
   "I told him to go home I can walk from here, just need to pick up a costume."
She nodded and came around the front of the counter. "What for?"
You followed along side her as she leads you through the store.
   "Will asked if I would dress up with him and the bits tonight."
"Oh of course."She said finally stopping in the Halloween section. The bell at the front of the store chimed.
"Joyce? You here?"
"Yea, hop we're over here!" Hopper was quick to make an allegiance. "Hey kid! Picking a costume for that party tonight?"
You snorted. "No, and why do you know about that?" He pulled a flyer from his pocket. "Small town." you rolled your eyes and started looking through the rack of costumes. "She's getting something to go out with will and the bits tonight." Joyce replied following your lead looking at costumes and admiring a few, mentally taking note of ones you might like.
   "Really? Johnathan is gonna be there-"
"Johnathan is my friend I'm not abandoning him to go to some party, so no before you even ask."
   "C'mon get out there! Have fun with kids your age!"
"I'm fun! And kids my age are absolute morons!" Joyce looked at hopper with a slight nod.
  "Listen I just want you to feel normal!"
"I do feel normal,hop!"
You stopped sliding costumes back and forth for a moment to face him. "If I didn't...I don't think a party with people I don't like would change that."
He sighed and looked down. "Think about it? Could be fun? Bring Jonathan." you sighed and smiled.
   "Sure ok." He smiled and took Joyce aside leaving you alone in the isle. You shuffled back and forth between two costumes stopping on a clown one, it was red and white, and came with a little silver domino mask with a red nose attached to it.
You pulled it from the rack and  You held the costume up to you body looking at yourself in the reflection of the mirror that hung there, and smiled. You looked down folding it over your in your arms.   You glanced up at yourself in the mirror one last time and froze dead in your tracks noticing you where no longer in the costume isle.
   Instead you stood outside the Arcade, the sky was black but flashed with red lightning and little partials floated around you. "Fuck…" your breathing picked up as you looked around.
"Fuck!" you turned on your heels to face the building spotting will standing outside staring up at the sky.
  "Will!?...Will!" you ran to him and grabbed his shoulders shaking him.
"Will what the hell is happening?...WILL!"
You desperately searched his face for any sign he Might see you.
You finally realized he hadn't stopped staring at the sky and slowly followed his gaze. Your eyes widened in horror as Your eyes met with the large shadow figure in the sky.
You let out a scream and fell back. Suddenly everything was normal again But You were screaming on the floor of the store glass from the mirror behind you surrounding you.
"Y/n!?" Joyce ran to you and fell to her knees. "What happened? Y/n What happened!?" you only looked at her and cried and pushed back your hair. "I..I..don't know...know!"
She looked at you worried and grabbed your other hand. "Your bleeding, come on." she helped you up and lead you out of the isle.
     You sat in the passenger seat of her car waiting for her to come back out. "How are you feeling?" Joyce asked opening the door and sitting in the driver's seat.  "Better…" you mumbled. She sighed before handing you a bag. "I wasn't sure if this is the one you wanted or not…" you took it gingerly and looked through it pulling out the clown costume.
"Thanks…"
"Of course...you want me to drop you home or-"
"Home is fine." she nodded and started driving. "So what was that about?"
You leaned against the window and looked out. "I dunno ...A panic attack?" you lied. "Have you been having them often?" You swallowed. "On...on and off."
Joyce glanced over at you concerned before pulling into the traitor park.
"I'll see you at five ok?"
Joyce nodded as you hopped out of the car and hurried up the steps to your house. You waved one last time before going into the house. You sighed and leaned against the door. "I'm losing Goddamn mind!" You slid down to the floor and sat there for a moment.
     Five was quickly approaching so after a nap and shower, You slid into your costume, grabbed some spare clothes and headed over to the Byers.
   "Happy halloween!!" you yelled as you stepped inside. "Y/n! You got a costume!"
"Of course! I didn't want to be left out." you said ruffling his hair. "Although Your mom really outdid herself with your costume!"
He laughed. "So we pick up the other kids and we head out! To the good neighborhood!" you said the last part more to will, the other three members in the house. Joyce smiled and Bob came from the kitchen. "Hey, Y/n How are you feeling?"
   "You told him?" you asked Joyce slightly offended.  "Kinda…" you sighed.
"I feel better just a little...panic attack…"
   "You should really go see a doctor about that stuff." you smiled. "I'll get right on that…" you muttered before johnathan came out. "Really?"
"The not asked me too!" you defend yourself against jonathan. He rolled his eyes with a smile and headed for the door. You wrapped an arm around will and started leaving.
   "Have fun and be safe! And one of you stay with them No matter what!"
You nodded and headed out the door quickly.
   "Ok will top three candies go!" you said turning around in your seat to face him in the back. "Uh Reeses pieces ...Charleston chews and-" You stopped him. "Wait ok ok ...Fun Dip?" you guessed.  He only smiled and nodded as jouhnathan pulled up outside the Wheelers.
You went on like that with all the boys who piled into the back of the car. "Where are we even going?" Dustin asked from behind you as you directed johnathan through a street.
"Someone who used to babysit me lives in this really lavish neighborhood where they give the biggest candy bar's you have ever seen!"
All the boys made excited cheers and chatter as you finally told johnathan to pull up along side a curb. The boys quickly piled out of the car and started down the street.
"Hey dipshits! Wait up!" you and johnathan quickly hopped out and hurried after them.
i finally saw stranger things 3 and i have thoughts that i will break down by character ((they are not very deep thoughts, they are mostly love))
first, the kids
1. my beautiful son, will byers, for once did not have a hell ride of a season and got to smile a couple times. he took a bit of a back seat really, and i feel sorry for noah schnapp for all the ‘neck scratching’ memes he’ll be buried in now that it was basically his signature move for 8 episodes (and not even a particularly useful one) but anyway... the destruction of castle byers was one of the most heartbreaking scenes and i would have liked to see more fallout from it, but we can’t have everything. mike’s ‘it’s not my fault you don’t like girls’ line? eiiiish can we get some follow up in s4 please. (it might not be your fault mike but you’re involved lmao) so anyway. glad will got a breather season, but man when he was crying so much in the goodbye scene, i felt that. could not cope.
2. lucas!!!!!!!! my treasured son!!!! i love him so much. he was such a hero this season! he is always down to fight with his catapult and i adore him. i love what a terrible casanova he makes. i wish there had been some kind of glimpse of him looking after max after she watched her brother die, because that’s a complicated thing for those two. but s4 awaits. i would love to see lucas take a more central role in s4, incidentally. in terms of the boys, s1 was mike’s time to shine, s2 was will’s, s3 was arguably dustin since he got the most time away from the group? s4 lucas please and thank you
3. my angel daughter max, i love her, she’s so brave and brilliant, and she is such a good friend to el, and although billy-as-he-was didn’t deserve her, she was a good sister, too. i worry about her a lot. lucas and max better be the front and centre couple of s4, i swear. it’s their time. let them. i guess i was a little confused at first at how much max’s style changed between seasons, but i support her always, and her clothes now are so happy and cute. she’s adorable. now somebody please make sure she’s alright. where is her mom
4. dustin, light of my life, he is a good child and i am proud of him! i have always related to dustin’s position in the friend group lmao so to see him off with his own little crew was very adorable. i love him as both steve and robin’s child and steve and robin’s parent. he is so resourceful and i love that they finally utilised gaten’s angel voice! i was so glad suzie turned out to be real and plot-relevant (kinda), please can she come for a visit in s4? thank you.
5. eleven, my daughter, my small small child, she broke my heart so much this season and i am so proud of her for finding herself. her s4 arc of regaining her powers will be very interesting and i’m excited for her and joyce’s relationship to be developed more, because i love them both. i really appreciated them going for the angle of ‘eleven needs to exist outside of mike’, partly because the way they were behaving at the beginning of the season did seem to make sense for kids their age with a connection like theirs, and it is healthier for them to.... not. at least sometimes. el is so hardcore, i love how her dialogue is still written a little stilted while still letting her express herself. she had so many iconic lines. i can’t believe they took hop away from her. also i’m a little disappointed (but not surprised) that there was no kali.
6. mike, my child, my gangly and adorable son, he was a joy this season (even when he was whinging). you know what killed me? how TALL he was when he hugged his mother at the end, especially compared to the s1 scene after will’s “body” is found. logically i know that these are actors who are growing up but it feels like an assault every time they flashback to their tiny s1 selves, and mike is just a giant now. bless him. he is a good boy who is trying his best. i don’t really understand why he didn’t tell el what hopper had said much earlier, but he’s a silly teenage boy, so, you know. it’s like that.
7. erica my precious daughter, oh my goodness, i enjoyed her immensely. i’m so glad she’s properly part of the crew and is beginning to embrace the nerdy part of herself. icon. priah ferguson is an entire gemstone. when nancy etc graduate to the adult storylines and mike and co are the resident teens, erica will be the lynchpin of the new generation and i couldn’t be happier about that.
now, the teens
1. nancy was so iconic this year, DAMN. this girl never rests and i love her. i’m glad the romantic drama was minimised, just enough to keep them interesting but not so you really worried she was going to pingpong back to steve or anything silly like that. nancy is such a role model truly. she’s so brave. my life, when billy’s car was hurtling towards her and she just stayed shooting. that’s my girl. (also, she’s so gorgeous. i feel like 80s fashion happened mainly so that natalia dyer could recreate it)
2. STEVE my sweet sweet son. again, an icon. i can’t believe they actually kept him in that sailor suit the whole season. what a national treasure. when he slammed billy’s car! i cheered. i’m very proud of the person he has become and his friendship with robin is just adorable. so glad that they will be able to discuss pretty girls together now that they work at the arcade. also, maybe he could make it to the end of s4 without cutting up his face, but that’s probably too much to ask, isn’t it?
3. robin is my entire heart, i can’t even express how much i love this girl. she’s so clever and brave and wonderful and i can’t wait for her and will to share a scene (because cOME ON the solidarity!!!). i love her sarcasm and wit, and how she just jumps into the madness and gets stuff done. a queen. welcome to the family, robin.
4. jonathan my boyyyyy, he was lovely this season, i was so proud of him when he took the situation in hand with el’s injury (even if she ended up doing the surgery herself!) i am excited for him to be el’s big brother as well as will’s (side note: el and will are sure to be the cutest siblings) and hopefully he and nancy can continue to navigate the stormy sea of being the teen flagship without too much on-again-off-again. we get it, they’re meant for each other. loved their moment with the scar at the end.
5. oh, billy. i will admit, i felt bad for him a couple of times, and he certainly suffered enough, not that his treatment of lucas in s2 will ever be excused. dacre montgomery really gives the most, which makes billy weirdly watchable. i will never understand why they chose to bring back the karen wheeler stuff, brrrrrrr, but, yeah. i’m glad they didn’t exactly “redeem” him, but managed to kill him off while still adding depth. (he tried to save el and good on him for that, but in the end it was joyce who stopped the mindflayer, so).
aaand the adults!
1. murray was a complete delight, and i was thrilled to have him along for the ride. i’m heartbroken that murray/alexei will not rise, because that had potential.
2. joyce was wonderful and hilarious and brave and heartbreaking and perfect, of course. i can’t believe they’ve now killed off BOTH her love interests (as far as she knows, anyway). that poor woman. i hope she can continue in her role of best mother ever, now that she has an extra traumatised child on her hands. joyce is the true mvp. the moral strength that woman has. the brains. the curiosity. she’s a way of life.
3. hopper, where do i start. i actually didn’t like him much at the start of the season. i get that he hasn’t had a teenager before, but he seemed to take a little too much delight in petrifying mike, especially since he knew how much it would genuinely hurt el. that seemed a bit extreme for the sake of not wanting to give a corny speech. but anyway. this man is a true trooper. so many fight scenes. and we’re supposed to assume he’s not actually dead, right? the post-credits scene in russia was almost entirely pointless (big deal, they got a demogorgon) apart from the line, ‘no, not the american’... i mean, surely that’s hopper? surely? murray is unaccounted for in the time jump, i suppose, but no way he was captured and not joyce. both or neither. man, imagine the reunion with el and joyce, if hopper really isn’t dead. i’m going with he’s not dead. we never saw any remains. kudos for still making his apparent demise pack a whole punch, though. that letter destroyed me.
other things:
1. the turning-people-into-goo stuff was so horrifying, how do you even go about creating those visuals
2. some of the fight scenes i kind of let happen without really watching, and just came back to see who was still upright by the end, how do people watch this stuff
3. joyce didn’t decorate her house :( in fact the magnets undecorated themselves, as a forerunner to the entire house being stripped.... wow....
4. mr clarke is an absolute beaut and i love the way he was used (although it was strange not to have dustin included!)
5. i love love love how this show operates, with different teams finding different parts of the mystery and piecing it together under fire. i love how none of them ever go, “hey, we should tell the other people who are usually involved in this stuff, chances are they’ve got themselves into it this time around.”
6. the byers’ dog is still unaccounted for
warnings: drinking and drugs nothing too bad
Chapter 1:
Summary:  After the events at Starcourt Mall, destroying the flayer monster and everyone still managed to come out alive, everyone who was everyone decided to go their own ways. The Byers family moved away along with El & Hopper. As a gift Hop fixed up his cabin for you to stay since it was somewhat destroyed by the Flyer monster. You work at a small bookstore in Starcourt Mall along with Nancy. town there's a small bar that you occasionally read your poetry to the drunken people, it was only for the weekend random people from the bar or around the neighborhood would read their poetry/stories, no one you knew went here.
“Hey Nac, is it alright with you if I head out now?”
looking down your watch it read 7:30 it was Friday and the mall closed at 9, you just want to get home have a shower possibly change clothes before heading down to Dragons Corner Bar. you found this bar when you were tripping on shrooms walking through some woods, thought you were walking in wonderland in the middle of October here a Hawkins. What's odd about the bar was it was hidden, the driveway is long and the parking was big enough to fit probably 100 cars but there's always people walking here. People who are not from your town. Every time you went you felt like you've entered dark ages of dragons, princesses, kings and queens, the entire bar was shaped as a castle.
“Yeah that's fine Y/N, go enjoy your night!” she said with a smile, she usually takes closing on Fridays and you'd take Saturday, as a win win, both satisfied.
As you were leaving the store looking around starcourt so many families laughing, kids running around at their playstation, mothers sitting all together chatting who knows what. A Lot of people from Hawkins high are always here but luckily for you, an exit next to your store. It was a blessing. Avoiding big crowds and possible interactions with people from school isn't what you want. You hated it. Weirdly enough your friends with Nancy who used to be popular, both of you guys are opposite personalities, you will like the odd one out considering you love rock/punk bands and wearing dark clothes, but you always made it look cute making some popular girls angry. You found it amusing.
Walking to your car wasn't much of a walk since they have a section for employees to park, another blessing this Mall has to offer. As you were unlocking your car, you heard the door the mall opened. You wiped  your head around, only to find your favorite crush wearing his cute sailor uniform, ‘thank god i don't have a dress code’ you thought.
 “Steve! Ahoy mate!!”
giving your best pirate voice and mimicking dancing around in excitement to seeing him, Steve on the other hand that it was bad and laughed.
You loved the way he laughed it was gentle and soft, not enough to roll your eyes but enough to keep making him laugh forever  “Y/N enjoyed the attempt but that was bad!” Steve laughed clutching his stomach like he couldn't breathe
He was wiping away tears that went down from all the laughter” i must say cute little dance you did, ya missed me that much?” Steve said sending you a wink.
“are you done now? I tried okay don't give me your bs” you rolled your eyes trying to be sassy.
 “Hey now i said it was cute” Steve said while taking off his shirt in front of you, not caring if anyone saw. You couldn't help but stare a little bit, he was fit, nice arms, toned, abs looked so nice you'd want to lick them. Snapping out of your trance of the boy, you went into your car, open the glove compartment to get a small bag containing rolled joints. picked one out throwing the bag onto your passenger seat, fumbling in your purse for a lighter. Groaning not having one on you.
“Need a light?” Steve said holding out his lighter already having the flame dancing for you
Leaning over to light the joint perfectly placed between your lips, inhaling and exhaling before handed it off to Steve, you always loved smoking with him. hell, he's the one that got you into it in the first place.
“Did you roll this?” Steve asked admiring the perfectly rolled joint like he's never seen one nicely rolled, twirling it around if with his fingers.
“Yeah, I usually like to roll a couple at a time and light one whenever” taking the joint from Steve, you briefly touch his hand, that alone gave you small butterflies, sending you shivers all throughout your body.
“How was work? It was pretty busy up at Scoops, god little kids are a bit annoying not knowing what flavor they want”
Steve said frustrated touching the back of his head “robin took care of most of them trying to get them to leave already” he said taking the joint from you inhaling, exhaling the smoke trying to make a ring. Failed but he tried.
“Work was okay, had a few customers come in to buy books, rearrange a small area in the back with Nancy. Were thinking about getting a rescue dog or cat to keep around the bookstore, so were making a little hang out area for people to read their books and have a nice time with animal”
you smiled at the thought of it coming together, you were more excited to adopting a kitty. Steve was looking at you smiling, admiring just how beautiful you are and sometimes he wonders if he should ask you out, he always had this crush on you but from all the rejections he's gotten asking you made him nervous.
 He found it sexy just watching you hitting the joint, sometimes he wants to take your face in his hands and kiss you till your lips fall off but he couldn't he was too scared. He really wants to.
“Should get both? Don't you live at the cabin all alone? Get a cat for the bookstore since they are low maintenance and they can take care of themselves”
“I actually haven't thought of that, being alone in the cabin doesn't get lonely, im used to it, peaceful. Besides i asked Nancy to move in since she wants to be away from her house” you took a couple more hits off of the joint before burning it out. Looking towards the sky above trying to look at the stars but it was cloudy so nothing was out.
“I can take you to a shelter and help you pick a cat or dog, whichever you'd want” Steve said giving you a small grin like a little small boy, ugh you thought to yourself, sometimes you think he likes you but you're sure he flirts with every girl.
“Yes i would love that, maybe get food after? My treat” you said singly leaning over to him giving him the biggest smile ever
“Yeah we can eat burgers and milkshakes, how does that sound? I know a place we can go” Steve said while getting down off of your car hood, stretching showing a little of his abs. ‘Fuck’ you thought to yourself. ‘Why am I like this’ thinking this made you groan in annoyance hat Steve picked up
“ whats up Y/N ? watcha got going on tonight? Steve asking while fixing and trying to style his fluffy hair that you oh so loved.
“Gonna go home, refresh myself and then read a book, easy night for a long day” you lied to him, you didn't want no one knowing where your little secret bar was, you didn't want anyone to hear about your poetry.
Especially Steve, sometimes you write about your feelings about him but still you'd rather hide it and not have anyone know about it except well for Nancy she’d know about the crush you have for Steve for awhile now, she says it shows all over my face whenever he's around. Never got what she meant but never cared.
“Sounds relaxing to me, i'm going to meet Dustin and everyone for a drive a Quarry, ill see you around princess” Steve said while getting into his car, rolling down his window flashing you the prettiest smile “i hope you enjoy your night Y/N” waving to you while driving off.
“I wish you'd kiss me” you said out loud but no one but you heard that. Getting into your car you drove off.
Entering dragons corner everyone knew you, pretty much you will come here to escape being alone at home and nights when your thoughts got too much and a drink is what you need.
“Hey Y/N welcome back!”
Tom yelled from behind the corner waving at you.
“Hey Tom! Hows Betta?”
 you smiled and waved taking a seat next to Lewis the other bar owner. Betta is tom's wife for over 40 years! You wish you find your soulmate and be together long, sounded cheesy but it's something you've always wanted. “Whats up girl” Lewis said going in for a fist bump.
“Betta doing good, she's been out of town visiting her mother and sisters” he said while mixing up your usual drink, dirty pina colada. not one for beer because of the taste and itll reminded you too much of your stupid father. “You miss her? Whens shes coming back?” you asked wondering when she’ll be back, she treated you like her own daughter after some poetry sessions you'd cry so badly in the bathroom, since you became a regular and pretty cool, they gave you a key for the back office that's so quiet and away from all the noise.
 “She should be coming tomorrow, she's been gone for 3 weeks! Not having her around the bar have been so quiet” he said coming around the bar, taking a seat next to you.
“Here made your favorite, added a lil too much of alcohol but it should be okay” tom said giving you the drink with 3 cherries on top because he knows how much cherries are your favorite.
Taking a gulp from the drink you can slightly tell the more alcohol in this, burned your throat a bit but the chillness of the drink helped.
“The drink is wonderful and much needed” enjoying the drink while looking around its a full house, lots of people. Just thinking about being on the stage made you sick but thats why having one dirty pina colada was enough
 “Open mic is gonna be starting soon, i think Lewis is getting the mic set up” he said standing up from his chair stretching and sighing
“It's been awhile since we got this much people, betta would be happy”
You had your journal with you with all of your notes of places, people you meet, drugs you've tried, and all the poetry you wrote. It's something you don't want to ever lose.
“Can I go first this time?” I asked nicely, giving him my biggest pout.
“Yeah i gotchu, want another drink? Virgin?” asked before wanting to add anything, he knew you drove here, doesn't want you to be impaired while driving, he cares about you too.
“Yeah, thanks I appreciate it” accepting the drink while Lewis stands on stage getting everyone's attention.
“Welcome welcome our insomniac and alcoholics…..
Earning a chuckled from the crowd.
Welcome to Dragons Corner, tonight we are hoisting our open mic and everyone who is everyone is able to come up here, thank you all for coming and enjoy your evening!!!’’ earning a loud cheer from everyone and having the small fainted of jazz music played, they like to keep it quiet when people are talking but not having any dead silence could get boring and make the readers nervous too.
“We'd like to start off with our favorite writers Y/N!!” Lewis said clapping towards my direction to motion me on the stage having everyone cheering for me made all my jumping nervous calm again.
“Hello everyone, im Y/N and i will be reading some sort of love poem for someone that i wish would notice me, alright here we go…
When i think of you i think of all the good things life has to offer
like coffee on an early morning
the first sight of the sunset or sunrise
Or when someone falls in love for the first time
The way you smile
The way you laugh
The way your hair is poofy and curly
Sharing smokes, secrets, food, love
I wonder what's it like to kiss you
To touch you
To feel you touch my skin
I wonder what's it like making love to you
My lips ache for yours
Please notice me
Notice me how birds notice a worm on the pavement
Notice me
I want to give you the world in this cold lonely world
Notice me………”
You finished and stepped off the staged, everyone snapping their fingers no one clapped during open mic it was just more quieter and better. “Who is this lover boy?hmmm” Lewis said walking down the bar and meeting your gaze
“This kid named Steve, i went to school with him. He was this big king of Hawkins high before Billy came into town and took that title. Steves sweet and nice. He's always looking out for me”
you said smiling just thinking of him made your stomach want to do flips, just something about im made you feel so alive, he’d always make sure you were okay.
“Does he feel the same?” asked while cleaning around being busy but still talking to you
“I'm not sure, well i don't know, i wish i knew..” just the thought of him liking someone else made you sick and sad. You just wanted to be his.
“You're too wonderful Y/N, i bet he does feel the same” giving you a pat on the shoulder and giving you a warm smile the one that says ‘you got this’
You let out the biggest sigh and decided to head out. “Alright Lewis, Tom i'll see you guys tomorrow night!” waving at both of them as you were leaving the magical castle. Stepping outside was a little more chiller than before but luckily you dressed warm. Turning on your car playing fleetwood mac.
Returning to your cabin, you've decorated it with tiny lights so when you've come home in the middle of the night you can see where you're going and not fall and hit yourself like last time before buying the lights, recalling the memory and the pain you just glad it wasn't anything major. Although the figure waiting on your porch was something you didn't expect.
“Steve?” you questioned the figure it was dark you couldn't tell who it was
“Hey Y/N..” he replied with a little sadness in his voice something you notice right away
“Lets go inside, got something on your mind?” asked curiosity hoping it wasn't anything but bad but just wanted a friend
“I thought you were here like you said earlier but no one answered so I waited, it was only an hour, i dropped Dustin off and i wanted to see you again..” he smiled towards your direction while being distracted with your living room and how nice it looks.
“It's so cozy here” he said eyes wandering around can't seem to be fixed on something
“I try to make it as cozy as possible since it's just me, i need my home relaxing environment. It helps alot” you said while disappearing into your room to change into pjs, you hadn't realized you forgot to put on pants because your tipsy mind forgot about Steve
“Cute butt” Steve said while checking out your ass, couldn't help himself but also want to embarrass you. Realizing this you ran to your room to grab a pair of shorts
“My bad, had small drink” your face redder than a tomato at this point. Steve on the other hand found it adorable you blushed really dark red
“Soo steve why are you here and no home?” completely forgot about why he was waiting for you
“Well i wanted to see a movie but not alone and so i thought of you, i have movies we could watch” steve taking out 2 movies from his jacket and handing it to you
“Halloween 2 and Alien, hmmm horror type? Lets watch alien i love Ripley” popped the movie in and went over to the couch where Steve started to get comfy
“Would you want to stay? It's late and I wouldn't want you to drive” you asked hopefully it'll be a yes since you could possibly ask to cuddle later on. You looked over to Steve lost in thought but snapped back to reality quickly when you asked him to stay
“If you don't mind, we can make pancakes tomorrow” he said with a soft smile
“Yeah i'd love that”
