The Splitsabers Photomode Guide!

This guide will be a look into some of my thoughts and tips for photomode in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Let's get into it!

Disclaimer: I am in no way a professional 😂 my credentials include art as a hobby and a 3-month obsession with Jedi Survivor (still learning new things every day) so this is definitely more of a beginners guide but I love talking so here ya go

Survivor is a huge game full of environments, actions, and movements. When I'm looking to take photos, I have two files: one completed on New Game+, so I have access to all cosmetics and areas (this is what I use for the saber series), and one "fresh" file where I'll play the game from 0% and have access to specific animations, storylines, environments, and scenes:

When it comes to taking actual photos, I'll just run around and play the game as normal while constantly looking for areas with good lighting, scenes, or encounters.

Sometimes I'll have a specific idea, like with the saber series, where I want to take photos in certain environments. For example, for the purple saber I wanted to go for an "outcast" look with the outfit and selected areas like the laser on the Shattered Moon, observatory, and meditation arenas in force tears. I'd go through different lightsaber stances, animations, and poses, as well as lining them up with the environment to get shots I liked.

I have a collection of places I like to go throughout the game with good lighting, encounters, or similar (rehabilitation wing my beloved).

For 90% of my photos, I place the subject in focus (typically someone's face/body, weapon, or hands) and turn down the f-stop so the environment (or sometimes the rest of a person's body) is out of focus. I like doing this because it places attention onto the subject while leaving the background in context.

You can leave details like this that enhance the photo or add weight to the photographs - we as the audience can extrapolate how certain photos relate to the meaning of a shot from what we know about the game - a picture is worth a thousand words!

You can use the environment as a framing tool, or take pictures of the beautiful environments of Survivor itself!

For posing, throughout a session I'll constantly pause and check the poses for characters I'd like to take photos of. Look at scenes from different angles to see what works! There are countless different actions in the game that can provide photo opportunities. These can be idle animations, finishers, combat engagements/attacks/stance switches, cutscenes, or character interactions!

It can take a lot of tries to get the right timing - for certain sets, I'll often reach a spot, take photos while constantly pausing and checking poses, and then quit out without saving so one-time animations (like certain combat finishers or the first BD visor interaction) can be repeated for that "perfect shot" (I'm working on collecting save files for different story points throughout the game).

When it comes to posing Cal, while idle, he'll look in the same direction the camera does (it actually took me a long time to figure this out I still feel silly sometimes for not knowing) as long as the camera is behind him; otherwise he'll look straight forward. You can use this to get him to look down, up, or to the side!

Tilt can also be a fun way to add drama to a picture or change the framing of your subject to fit your shots!

Exposure is useful for changing the whole brightness of a scene or creating better opportunities for shadows and highlights. For this photo, I had an idea for this nice strong contrasting shot where the lights would only see one side of Cal's face and make a sharp shadow. However, the light from his lightsaber illuminates the dark side (no pun intended) of his face.

To solve this, I turned the exposure way down (so the saber glow would be much weaker) and really pumped that blue light onto the strong side with spotlights to create the effect I wanted.

Spotlights are also an incredibly important in creating light that frames your photo! They can be used to define and bring attention your subject, enhance existing lighting, or create visual interest using color.

I always find my favorite photos make creative/extensive use of lighting. Certain things will interact differently with spotlights or give off light of their own - consider your environment and intended effect. Also consider how the lighting will react with your subject - for example, metal reflects light differently from cloth (I'll often use spotlights to highlight/reflect metal objects like Cal's lightsaber or BD-1), or particles may have certain effects (echo sparkles will disperse spotlights really nicely!).

Here's a before and after; good lighting can really make a scene pop!

You can use spotlights to create light sources that serve to define your subject and their key features (wait... I just realized.. is that why it's called a key light??). I'll often use a 2-light combo of yellow and white to make an "artificial sun" where natural light can't reach.

Since I post the majority of my photos in sets, when I take photos I'll often take the same photo in different color combinations of spotlights, exposures, and filters so that when I select the final photos for a set the whole "matches" and looks more cohesive together.

I personally don't do any editing on my photos third-party, but for most of my photos, I'll use the "Ryloth" filter at around 30-40% strength since I like the way it affects the saturation on colors (especially reds and oranges) and boosts the contrast a bit, although I will occasionally dip into the other filters. Of course, good graphics settings (if you can run them) can always improve the look of your photos.

As always, the #1 way to improve is practice! Learn for yourself what styles you prefer and try new things. I've taken (literally) thousands of photos and I definitely feel like I've improved by loads since I started.

What I'm here for.

This year Stockholm’s Cinema Queer Fest is centered around rage. Since attending the program release I have been haunted by the reality of rage. There is a James Baldwin quote that is now breath to me and it goes like this: “To be a negro in the country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all the time.” Rage and anger are familiar to me. I am learning to make space for them in the world, to make them other people’s problems and not just my own, but this ancestry of rage, community of rage, is new to me. I am also now interested in how to make this rage productive, not merely in my interpersonal life, but to direct towards real change and manifestation. I think it is possible, but I am also only twenty years old and my life is in constant transit.

After rage, Baldwin began following me around. He appeared as an excerpt in one of the most god-awful books I’ve had to read yet in my college career, but the little indented quotation of his power moved me so thoroughly that I began hunting him down rather than waiting for him to find me. I bought Giovanni’s Room earlier this year, but I’m still trying to finish Song of Solomon (which has been an excellent read so far). I desperately wanted Baldwin’s voice, though, the intense degree to which he could evoke emotion, his masterful ability to suck me in swiftly, into the worlds that still brutally reflect our own. I took myself out to a cafe in Sofo and I wanted to wander around after I finished my work. I looked really good that day, and I felt it would be a shame just to go back and rot in my room. It was also sunny out. I came across an English bookstore just a block over from the cafe I was at and began my hunt for Baldwin.

I got Giovanni’s room at the Open Bookstore in Chicago, alongside a pocket copy of Susan Sontag’s Notes on Camp. It was hands down maybe the best bookstore I’ve ever been to (although one of the staff recommendations was Tender is the Flesh and I think that book is awfully written). Maybe I’ve only ever been to shitty bookstores, but this one had a fantastic selection that not only met some of the more obscure texts on my reading list but also added many more books to that list. The little English bookstore I found definitely falls under the shitty selection, but they did have two books by Baldwin. I had already read his short story Going to Meet the Man so I bought the overpriced copy of Jimmy’s Blues and Other Poems. I have a limited amount of books I brought from home here, and my copy of Sylvia Plath’s Collected Poems did not make the cut. I’ve been missing having a bedside book of poetry, and the slim size of the book wouldn’t be obtrusive when I inevitably pack to go home. It’s been a couple of weeks since then and someone else in my life has been consuming a lot of space in my mind which takes me to my next musing.

James Schuyler’s A photograph is nestled within Jose Esteban Munoz’s Cruising Utopia. Schuyler’s poem whisked me away in a similar fashion as Baldwin’s excerpt, except my obsession was with ecstasy and not rage. The type of ecstasy Schuyler is getting at, and the one I’ve reflected the most on is that kind of feeling of looking back with joy. I feel rage more often than I feel ecstasy, but life has been pretty good for me recently. When I went swimming with friends a couple of weeks ago I remember looking back at the sunlit shore, at all our clothes and belongings messily strewn about in our haste to get in the water, and I was seized by such joy that I did not care that much when a large wave washed in and almost took all my belongings into the water. I have few moments in my life that inspire ecstasy, or rather sometimes it is just hard to find them, but in some moments they wash upon me and I am whisked away.

I like thinking of rage and ecstasy in this simultaneous fashion. They make sense together, for it is maybe in this life where I am so filled with rage that these moments of ecstasy are so beautiful and so simple. I forget them so easily and yet they continue to find me in soft and quiet ways. The rage makes me desire ecstasy, want to fight for it and to know this is a reality we are all entitled to have. This blog will be a disorganized journey of this fight and exploration. I’m interested in black punk, black poetry, and black rage and what any of this has to do with how we manifest action into our lives.

Tbh, I just throw the fictional / fantasy part out of the window and integrate the ideas from other fictions of mine into it because now it is a manifestation game. Why? Because I am so sick of waiting for scripting my wishes individually and awaiting to see them manifest over eons that may as well.

Week 11 : Progress

For my final i changed from naming my friends into naming the event of the day so we can recall what happened that day and the month of that year.

Re-Edited Concept :

To celebrate the lives of our 20s, bursting full of life, energy, and hardship during our young adult years, I have been taking pictures of my close friends. These photos capture our lives during our 20s, something nostalgic, something to look back on. They show our nights out, dinner events, and everyday moments. We always enjoy each other’s company and sharing these moments with them feels encouraging for me to take more of these photos. In a way, it's a recollection of pieces of my years of youth with them. 

Nostalgia is a theme I always try to capture in my photos. Moments that made us happy, sad or eventful are something I want to capture. Our lives are intertwined together in these moments. Creating a book for us to look back on and banter about and relive our youth again when we are older.

My approach in taking these photos is with a nostalgic tone. Most of the photos are taken candidly, with some staged to capture genuine emotion. I use my digital camera because it is easy to carry around and can be with me at all times. I always take photos of my friends talking and doing things together. They are often surprised when I flash them with my camera, which often gives a genuine emotion and reaction. Taking night photos where I can capture us in a mood where it feels like a big event that we all went to occur. 

Issei Suda where I got some of my inspiration in the way I took my photos as he often takes his photos with flashes during daylight. Using his flashlight he makes the subject of focus while the background fades to black. His Photobook "Issei Suda - My Japan" Has some sort of relation to my concept as the photobook shows a photo collection of his time in Japan. His photos consisted of past photos and present photos. Like he wanted to show memories to look back on.

I like to print out and create my photobook into some sort of scrapbook of all our photos with annotations or pins of the day and event of that certain picture. I'd like to keep my photos similar by using the same camera but over time the quality of the images improves signifying my improvement in my photography skills.

This collection of photos was inspired by Brandon Wilkin, Issei Suda, and Nan Goldin. Their photographic tones and practices of capturing nostalgic themes resonate with my concept and have influenced me in creating this collection.

Reflection:

I made two photobook's draft and started to finish my final photobook to present for next week. I also trying to get my statement some feedback from my peer's so i know i am on the right track to 800 words. I got feed back from my peer that i should add abit more in my concept and work editing some photo's in my photobook.

Walking into the room of paintings in the Miho Ichise and Lina Tharsing two person exhibition at Scroll, the outside world seems to disappear, replaced with a sense of calm. Although their subject matter is similar, their approaches are different- as detailed in the press release below.

From Scroll’s website-

Photographing scenes of the life around her, Miho Ichise translates these snapshots into drawings before finishing her compositions on canvas. Rather than paint what is directly and physically in front of her, Ichise turns to photography, which she feels gives her a certain freedom to create her world, taking extracts of an image, changing the colors, and adding other elements. Painting is not just a replication of her surroundings, but a sensory and atmospheric translation – an attempt to capture the sight, sound, touch, smell, and feeling around her. Ichise draws inspiration and admiration from the play of light and shadow by Georges de La Tour, the lush and atmospheric scenes of printmaker Hasui Kawase, the refined and minimal compositions of Alex Katz, and the colorful textures of Pierre Bonnard.

The artist states, “I would like my work to be an open door to anyone where they can enter to enjoy a connection to their childhood or small excitement of daily life.” Her intimate paintings crop to subtle and distinct details – an element of a scene – allowing the viewer to imagine the bigger picture beyond the edges of the canvas. Whether depicting family members, friends, or strangers on a street, Ichise always draws from scenes of her life and experience.

Both intimate and visually transfixing, Lina Tharsing’s paintings are rooted in real places while possessing a dreamlike quality. For Tharsing, nature is a vehicle where she finds moments of transcendence in the ordinary fabric of everyday life. Light plays a major role in Tharsing’s compositions – whether filtering through trees or glimmering across water, light serves as a catalyst, and a reminder to stay curious.

Following the loss of her parents, Tharsing’s work has been shaped by grief, a transformative force that has reframed her perception of the world. Tharsing states, “Grief is a paradoxical experience – a profound journey into sadness, yet also a doorway to nearly overwhelming love and connection. Each of these paintings is a gateway, an entrance, a window, to what I refer to as ‘thin places’ – moments that reveal the veil between the seen and unseen. My paintings are an invitation to contemplate the presence of something beyond ourselves, something ineffable yet persistent, felt, and present. I am more aware than ever of our collective grief about our relationship to this planet, our ecological grief, and the grief associated with war and human suffering. I come back to the invitation of grief which asks us to transform ourselves and to open ourselves towards our connectedness.”

Fishing and the open water

Imagine a vast place called the Everglades, where nature's music plays all around you. It's a place where you can find peace and adventure. The theme I have chosen for this manifesto is fishing. It's mainly inspired by the poem I had written about during one of our assignments," I have never been fishing on the Susquehanna," including a memorable day spent fishing with an old man during a hurricane in the Everglades. Fishing is one of my favorite outdoor activities, reflected in my work during the semester.

It's all about embracing nature's call. The Everglades is a wild place full of beauty and excitement. When we go there, we connect with nature in a special way. It's like returning to our roots and feeling at home in the world. There are endless opportunities to explore and discover. The meaning of fishing lies deep within me and reminds me of a poem I read for one of our assignments: "I have never been fishing on the Susquehanna." It's about longing for simplicity and connection with nature. I feel part of something bigger when I'm out on the water. Each fish I catch feels like a small victory, a reminder of life's ups and downs. My biggest takeaway from the poem is comparing the river to life. The constant moving and changing of different pathways the water may take the way life is when we finish school and start our new career jobs to move forward in life. It relates to me in a big way because I am at this exact part of my life trying to finish school and start a career with hopeful plans of starting a family as well.

One unforgettable experience I had written about was fishing in the Everglades, knowing a hurricane was coming. It was a scary and exciting day. Despite the storm, I still went out fishing and had the pleasure of running into an older man trying to shelter from the storm. We did not know each other well, but both of us shared our passion for fishing. As the wind howled and the rain poured down, we stood firm together, facing the storm head-on. In tough times, we discovered our inner strength.

The photographer's eye assignment was my last assignment, and it tied this theme together. Each picture shows my true joy in fishing and being on the water. Nothing can beat that feeling of freedom, from the surreal aqua-blue water of the Gulf of Mexico to the smiles of my wife and me holding a beautiful Gag Grouper. Being 20 miles offshore is very similar to being in the desert and seeing the same landscape as far as the eye can see, as well as the faint mirages you might mistake for other vessels. You can scream at the top of your lungs without anyone even noticing you are in existence. It is a feeling that is very hard to explain if you have done it yourself. It is an excellent escape from reality, and the busy days working and worrying about life's obstacles seem to feel minute when you're twenty miles offshore.

In conclusion, being on the water and fishing is a unique experience that teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. It is a chance to escape the business of life and connect with nature meaningfully. Let's cherish these moments and do our part to preserve the beauty of the water and our local Everglades so many people in the future can experience what I get to experience every day.

As March ushers in the promise of spring, I find myself eagerly anticipating the joys of the season. It's a time for fun and frolic, where laughter fills the air and friendships blossom like newly budding flowers. For me, March signifies the beginning of the having-fun season, a time for disco dances, healthy night outs, comedy, and camaraderie. But this March holds a special significance, as it marks the international month of femininity—a celebration of the strength, beauty, and resilience of women around the world.

With this in mind, I am inspired to bring together my five female original characters (OCs) for a special project. These characters, friends of my OC Arlon, hold a special place in my heart. Liliana, Penny, Evelyn, Sandra, and Ella are more than just characters to me; they are vibrant personalities that I've carefully crafted and nurtured over time. Together, they form a tight-knit group known as "ASLEEP," a playful acronym derived from the first letter of each of their names, including Arlon's.

The concept of a close-knit circle of friends has always resonated with me, drawing inspiration from beloved cartoons such as "Lego Friends," "Dora and Friends," "My Little Pony," and "Winx Club." These shows depict groups of friends embarking on adventures together, supporting each other through thick and thin. While most of these groups feature all-female casts, I've decided to put my twist on the formula by including Arlon as the sole male member of ASLEEP.

The idea for this artwork stems from a movie poster that caught my eye—a promotional image for the 2008 film "One Night Only." In it, the characters are wrapped in a large white blanket while being naked underneath, hinting at intimacy and camaraderie. Drawing inspiration from this, I envision Sandra, Evelyn, Liliana, Penny, and Ella huddled together under a similar blanket, their laughter echoing in the air. Arlon, ever the photographer, captures the moment with his camera, immortalising the bond shared by these five friends.

As I begin sketching out the scene, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Each stroke of the pencil brings the characters to life, their personalities shining through with every line and shading. Liliana, with her fiery spirit and infectious energy, takes centre stage, her laughter lighting up the room. Penny, the quiet and contemplative one, sits beside her, lost in thought. Evelyn and Sandra, the dynamic duo, share a playful moment, their friendship as strong as ever. And then there's Ella, the gentle soul of the group, her kind heart evident in every gesture.

As the image starts to take shape, I find myself drawn into the world of ASLEEP, where friendship knows no bounds and laughter reigns supreme. These characters, born from my imagination, have taken on a life of their own, becoming cherished companions in my creative journey. Through them, I've explored themes of friendship, loyalty, and self-discovery, each brushstroke bringing me closer to understanding the true meaning of camaraderie. Each stroke of the brush is a reminder of the power of friendship and the beauty of human connection, inspiring me to create more stories that celebrate the bonds we share with others.

But as I continue to work on the artwork, I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness. While these characters may only exist within the confines of my imagination, their impact on my life is very real. And now, as I bring them together in this special piece, I'm reminded of the power of friendship and the bonds that connect us all. I hope that through my art, I can convey the importance of these connections and inspire others to cherish their relationships. The process of creating these stories has not only been a creative outlet for me but also a reminder of the beauty found in human connection.

In the end, as I put the finishing touches on the artwork, I can't help but smile. It may just be a drawing on a page, but to me, it represents so much more—a celebration of friendship, femininity, and the joy of having fun. And as March fades into memory, I know that the spirit of ASLEEP will live on, reminding me that true friendship knows no bounds. It serves as a testament to the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on both the creator and the audience. Through these illustrations, I hope to inspire others to cherish their relationships and find beauty in the connections they share with others.

Armed with a renewed sense of purpose, I set out to explore new possibilities in merging traditional and digital techniques. Enter "BigJPG," a powerful AI tool that promises to revolutionise the way I digitise my traditional inked outlines. With its ability to enlarge and de-noise artwork, I find myself intrigued by the endless possibilities it presents. Testing its capabilities on my previous watercolour paintings proved successful, instilling in me a newfound confidence in my ability to seamlessly blend the old with the new.

The prospect of combining hand-drawn body bases with digitally inked faces opens up a world of creative opportunities. As I delve into my first attempt which is this portrait of the five girls of ASLEEP—I am met with both excitement and trepidation. While my skills in inking have undoubtedly improved over time, I am reminded of the intricate detailing required to bring each character to life. Opting for a 0.1 fine liner pen initially, I soon realised the need for thicker outlines akin to the style of "My Little Pony," prompting me to experiment with a 0.5 fine liner instead.

Despite the challenges posed by this new method, I find myself exhilarated by the prospect of blending traditional techniques with modern tools. The process of inking each face on my Android tablet still proves to be time-consuming, taking a total of two hours to complete. Yet, with each stroke of the stylus, I am reminded of the passion and dedication that drives my artistic endeavours. Determined to streamline my workflow, I devised a plan that I may tackle group artwork once or twice a week, allowing for a balance between productivity and artistic expression.

As I contemplate my next artistic venture, I find myself drawn to the idea of exploring still-life compositions for a moment. This serves as a test of my newfound method, allowing me to refine my skills and push the boundaries of my creativity. With each stroke of the pen and click of the stylus, I am reminded of the beauty and complexity of the artistic process, where every decision holds the power to shape the outcome. I am constantly inspired to explore new techniques and experiment with different mediums.

In the end, as I reflect on my journey back to traditional inking, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. While the road may have been fraught with challenges, the rewards far outweigh the struggles. Through perseverance and determination, I have discovered a newfound appreciation for the timeless art of hand-drawn creations. Contrast: My home in black and white

We were tasked with taking a compilation of photos in order to represent the idea of home and to demonstrate contrast through black and white images, and the above photos are my interpretation of this assignment. I did thoroughly enjoy taking these photos but during the planning process I had to consider what kind of direction I wanted to take. I am from Ireland originally but spent most of my life living in Abu Dhabi, and now live in Edinburgh, so I have quite a few places that I call 'home'. What I would say is that home is where my family is, but unfortunately they are scattered around the world currently and so I decided that I was going to have to go in a different direction for this assignmnet. This resulted in the decision to photograph my two 'homes' during my time in Edinburgh, which just so happened to be connected door to door by the canal. With this, I thought it would be interesting to demonstrate my move between the two as a walk along the canal from home to home, connecting my time here as one.

Image 1 - This photo is of the front of Bainfield, which was the university accommodation that I stayed in for the first year of my life in Edinburgh. The photo both brings back feelings of joy and despair as living there could be quite... messy sometimes. However, it was still one of the best years I've had where I met some of my best friends and made incredible memories. I took the photos during the day as I wanted to have the 'bright' (scottish bright) sky with the dark lines on the building to try and show some contrast within the image.

Image 2 - As you can see, this is a closer shot that shows the name of the building, but also shows the window to the room that I stayed in while there. That room again holds countless memories, and was incredibly important to me as it was my own space in a flat full of people. Sometimes you can loose your individuality when you live in the same copy-pasted room as everyone else, but that room was mine and as much as it was small, I loved it completely. Again the dark lines on the building in comparison to the lighter sign was an attempt at showing some more contrast in a more up-close image.

Image 3 - In this shot you can see the canal for the first time, as well as the bench that me and my friends spent half of our time on whenever we went out for a cigarette. It was almost like a comfort spot where we would look out on the canal and just have a breath of fresh air outside of our sometimes very stuffy flat. I tried to use the dark trees compared to the subtle highlights in the flowers on the grass or the patterns in the clouds to demonstrate contrast again.

Image 4 - This image is of the bridge I walked across to get to uni during my time living in Bainfield. I thought capturing this imagine demonstrated part of the significance of my first home, as university was the reason I ended up moving there. I probably should have taken a few more trips across this bridge to actually attend all my classes but I digress. I think I lowered the exposure on this image a little too much as the darker sections almost become unintelligible and blend together but in comparison to the bright sky I thought it worked well.

Image 5 - In this shot you can see the canal which looks very nice and picturesque bla bla, but what it doesn't show is just to the right out of frame, is a turn off to a park that my friends and I used to walk to at night when we were bored during the last 2 months of our time at Bainfield while we were finished with uni. We used to sit on the benches with a speaker for a while and we always liked to check if there was new graffiti on the bridge. I think this shot is a little too under-exposed as the darker half becomes illegible similar to the last image in parts but I still really like it.

Image 6 - This photo is slightly less significant than the rest as it is more of a passing spot than a place that is massively significant to the theme "home". Similar to the last two shots, it is along the canal but closer to my current flat rather than my old Bainfield one. I thought this spot looked really beautiful on the day I went out to take these photos, with the shrubbery and the water. I also really liked how the sky reflected on the water so you have these bright white and grey spots mixed in with the dark trees and canal.

Image 7 - This is the spot right before the bridge to the stairs that lead you to my flat. I thought the 'caution' sign was kind of funny because its both eerie and 'symbolic' in a way at the same time. It looks sort of 'abandoned city/dystopian' which I really like, but also kind of a warning towards the passage of time and how things move on (not really sure how to describe it, I'm trying to be deep and edgy). I thought the movement in the clouds allowed for some layering to the image as well as a nice bit of contrast with the cat's eyes on the dark pathway.

Image 8 - And there it is! My flat! A little far off in the distance but you can see it if you look in the bottom right hand corner of the screen just above the Sainsbury's sign. The three lights in the building belong to my block of flats, and we're right at the top. I got quite lucky with this shot as a train came passing right as I took it which filled out the dark left hand corner. I also thought the big line of clouds made a cool split almost into 3rds, bright on top, a little darker in the middle, and darkest at the bottom.

Image 9 - This was taken on the 'main' street just before you turn off onto my road. You can again see the light coming from the building just to the left of the centre. To be honest, this is probably the shot I like the least as it isn't very complex in terms of its contrast and also isn't as good looking as some of the areas that I was taking photos in. I think if I were to have had some other light source in the bottom half of the image it may have translated better but either way, still significant towards my home.

Image 10 - And here we are. At the end of our walk between the two places I have called home in Edinburgh. I have always loved the big tree outside our front door and watching switch from season to season always makes me smile. It's a cherry blossom so during the summer its lovely and pink but at this stage it was just before it started to lose its leaves. This allowed for light to peak through the branches and give a nice sense of contrast to the image through the backlight coming from the building.
