Been watching raocow play Banjo-Tooie and a bunch of BK/BT speedruns and it's making me yearn for Banjo-Threeie to be an actual thing.
#why didn't this happen#why do companies always wait 20+ years to continue a dormant IP#and play the HEY KIDS GUESS WHAT WE'RE BRINGING BACK AND HOPES MAKES US MONEY SO WE CAN KEEP THE IP ALIVE cards#good fucking lord why do they always DO THAT#i remember looking forward to banjo-threeie as a girl only to get nuts and bolts#which. i don't have an opinion on b/c i've never watched a playthrough of it#b/c one: ye gods what ARE THOSE DESIGNS#and two: it's a BK game but. it just doesn't feel like a BK game#and three: the whole nintendo-rare-xbox deal is a Huge Mess#so of course they had to figure out a way to reflect this in the BK world#and IIRC nuts and bolts made BK the most washed up versions of themselves#like i'm sorry but grunty's disembodied flesh-less skull has been floating around for TWO DECADES#when are we going to see her try to get back at the main duo and rhyme again w/o her sisters dunking on her for it?

OMG SIS SPILL THE TEA I WANNA HEAR
For those interested, here's the video:
youtube
Angry rant below the cut!
Ok, so I actually don't mind the person's main points, which seem to be that a) at a time when it was harder to get LGBTQ+ representation into video games, the Tellius duology was pushing the boundaries and being progressive, and b) the author of the video likes a lot of gay ships in Tellius. Those are perfectly fine topics to make a Youtube video about. My main issue is that the author just... doesn't seem to know what "canon" means?? They refer to Elincia & Lucia's romantic paired endings (with Geoffrey & Bastian respectively) as canon, despite the fact that both are significantly harder to get than their unpaired endings, which screams amatonormativity to me. They also refer to Ike & Soren's romance as "so canon", and although their paired ending is at least a bit easier to obtain than those other two, it's still very much not the default, AND IT'S NOT EXPLICITLY ROMANTIC BY ANY MEANS. There are also a bunch of other comments, like "oh I see x relationship as this so I can imagine this pairing as canon". That is literally not what that word means please, it's okay to say "fanon" or "headcanon" or even "opinion".
They also use a lot of absolutist language such as "definitely fucking", "definitely has the hots for __", etc., or that a specific straight ship "could never be together", and say they're shocked they even have to explain why Ike and Soren are "so in love with each other". Maybe it's just me, but I find statements like that very irritating in what is clearly an opinion piece, because it feels like they're saying other opinions aren't valid.
I also found it mildly irritating that they just got some of the lore wrong... they claim that [SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!] the Black Knight kills Greil because Sephiran told him to... while in reality Sephiran only asked him to obtain the medallion, and the BK fought Greil to the death because of his own personal reasons (wanting to surpass his former teacher)
Everything I've mentioned so far is something that personally annoys me, nothing blatantly harmful, and I can at least understand why they included it in the video. What really drove me into a rage is the statement that "Ike is, at the very least, asexual". Like I'm sorry. The fuck is "the very least" supposed to mean???? That asexuality is a "lesser" form of queerness than homosexuality???? (Also note that the author equates asexual with aromantic, but as a non-SAM aroace I don't feel qualified to speak on how harmful or not that is) And then they immediately turn around and say that the Ike/Soren romance is canon????
There are a bunch more irritating off-hand remarks near the end of the video, such as implying that people who disagree with the author only do so because they don't like slash pairings, claiming that "everyone" would ship a pairing if it were straight, etc. I also loooooove how they blatantly skip over the discussion of Kyza's transgenderism, and also make the claim that there are no people of color in Tellius, like wtf????? idk I could talk more about both those issues but they aren't related to the video's topic so whatever I guess :/
#I slept poorly last night and I'm all angy so I'm gonna release this finally#thanks for the ask!#video#fire emblem#tellius#fire emblem path of radiance#fe9#fire emblem radiant dawn#fe10#ramblings#salty#fandom commentary

I think I realise now what's wrong with Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. It lacks its own stylistic identity.
Banjo and Kazooie have got a new character redesign. But it's not really new, it's just Banjo and Kazooie redone in the style of Viva Pinata. Rare's old flagship game done up to fit in with Rare's then current flagship game.
You listen, to the soundtrack. It's mostly remixes of the old songs. You look at the new hubworld, it's this little video game town populated by generic animal npcs plodding around randomly to make it feel bigger than it actually is. You look at the new worlds, it's all Viva Pinata places with old ost remixes for music.
Then look at new characters. I actually like the Lord of Games. I like his little computer mouses orbiting his television head. I'm not sure what his mouses are supposed to represent but they're cute.
But LOG's theme song is just the Banjo Kazooie theme song but in 8 bit. Compare that to Banjo Tooie. Banjo Tooie gave us a new tutorial character to replace the old, Jamjars for Bottles, and gave us a new TF character to replace the old, Humba Wumba for Mumbo Jumbo.
Now, Humba and Mumbo are racist caricatures, but crucially, the artists still worked hard on animating and presenting these characters. So they've all got their own theme songs! Jamjars has his own theme song. Humba has her own theme song. It's all well realised and crafted.
Bottles had his mole mounds and Jamjars had his bunker silos. Mumbo had his hut. Humba had her wigwam. Mumbo TFs you with his magic staff, Humba TFs you with this satisfyingly slime looking pool you have to swim in.
LOG is a frankly epic character. Stated to be the god of Banjo Kazooie, and of Mario. He should rightly have his own theme song. His magic is suitably terrifying. Although, having him do the classic Rare cynical jokes just feels like elevating a character of Cranky Kong to a person of real authority. The cynic character archetypes in Rare games were always at their funniest when they were laughably irrelevant. LOG commenting that 'collectathons are rubbish' and 'no one wants to play that sort of thing anymore' just feels a lot more depressing coming from a character who supposedly has divine knowledge on the subject. But then maybe that's the point? Maybe LOG represents industry insiders who have successful careers but have become completely business minded and have lost all sense of artistry in game development?
Nuts and Bolts. It's a building game so they have an engineer character to tell you when you're making a car without an engine. And it's just Mumbo Jumbo? He's just an engineer now?
Again, racist caricature, but, I feel like in the old BK games they would have revealed Mumbo Jumbo having a younger brother. Mumbo is the first son so he has to take up the family business of shamanism and the younger brother character is free to explore the careers of the modern world and become an engineer.
That was the sort of thing that Banjo Kazooie excelled at. Introducing these two dimensional joke characters, and then through further throwaway jokes establishing more complex relationships and histories with other characters and other parts of the world.
Like, in Banjo Tooie, there was a lot of characters from the first game being revealed to have domestically abusive home and family situations. Stuff like, Bottles being killed in the intro and then magically resuscitated at the end of the game. He goes home to his wife who doesn't believe him and forces him to eat inedible burnt food as punishment while hovering over him slapping a rolling pin against her open palm.
Dumb throwaway jokes that ultimately boil down to jeering at "drama" but nonetheless give a life to these characters who are otherwise just fairy tale and video game archetypes being thrown around. It's a lot like Adventure Time in that regard.
But Nuts and Bolts doesn't really have that.
You know one of the most surprising elements of Nuts and Bolts? Something that really made me do a double take when I saw it? The end credits. It's a credits roll. They show you a video of one little room with a few cars in it, and the credits just roll. Down the screen. You see the credits.
Compare that to BK and BT, where the credits tells you who made the game and shows you all of the characters of the game and all of the locations of the game, saying goodbye to all of these things you've seen playing the game.
Nuts and Bolts just doesn't have that. It's crazy.

Thinking on the whole "Aldera allowed BK to bully Izu" and how Inko is so...uncaring for such fact may be accidental or not...
There are others schools out there...why Izu had to stay in Aldera? Legit. Why? If Inko is so poor she cant afford a new school it would be smth but...the fact she doesnt even try, she is so out of reality...its concerning.
Also...Aldera has (or should have )parents meetings(parents and teachers meeting one another) are the teachers the best actors in the world to convice Inko "your son happy here" or she just dont care?
Another thing: BK is from a rich family...he could have gone to a big school but stay on Aldera. Reason? "To make his hero origin story look good"
1) why? Where this idea comes from? Is AM from a poor background and reach stardom from day to night?
2) does others heroes care for "proper hero background"?
Inko is a bad mom in canon...ironically, bashing fics got it wrong. She doesnt light cigars on her son nor let him starve...she just...do nothing.
Hi @mikeellee 👋,
This. This is where I see Hori's lack of exploration into Izuku's childhood to be a massive problem. Inko is never seen to try literally anything to prevent Izuku's bullying.
A common defense I hear of her is that, "Izuku hid it from her so she had no idea" and while that may be the case later let me ask; does anyone seriously think a four year old can hide being hurt constantly? Let alone being exploded?
So there is two options here:
She could have been too poor to change Izuku's schools / move homes. If this is case - Explore that HORI! That could have been common ground for IzuOcha to bond over!! Not only that but it would have gave Inko a sympathetic reason why she didn't go this route. Hori should have coupled this with a few brief shots of her in the manga showing her trying to speak with teacher, Mitsuki etc... That could have shown a sympathetic and good prominent mother figure.
She saw Izuku being hurt for being quirkless and viewed his suffering as inevitable so did not try to do anything to prevent what he was going through. This is the option that makes Inko look the worst - but also lines the most up with canon in my view. There's metas out there saying that, despite the Midoriya's living in an apartment, they are rich / well off by the interior Hori designs for them (maybe not as much as Bkg but comfortable.) So no monetary boundary to moving. There's the fact that Inko is quick to say "I'm sorry Izuku" and cry on him when he's being diagnosed as quirkless which... It feels like Inko is now expecting the worst for him/ Izuku's future in this diagnosis - which would explain her inaction. (Note - she only tries to protect him after Izu gets a quirk too, by threatening to take him out UA, which lines up with this theory.)
With the Bakugou part - that's just Bakugou's stupidity and ego coming out full swing.
Logically speaking, it would make more sense to go to be best school - rather than whatever Aldera is - to maximise the chances of getting in UA. But Baku is so up his own ass he believes he is innately the best.
First, who lets their child pull this sort of shit when they genuinely want the best for them? Why doesn't Mitsuki sit Bkg down and tell him he's being an idiot? She's done it before. And should do it here.
Second, I WISH this bit him in the ass. I wish he got lower down the scoreboard then third on the term rankings. Or even, failed the entrance exam, got expelled by expellzawa - just anything! Because then it would show Bkg is his own worst enemy.
Third, maybe Baku pulled this deliberately because he knew Aldera would let him get away with being a POS. If Bkg went to a top school do you think they would let him get away with being an abusive turd? Short answer no. If they expelled him - game over for his dream of heroism too. Baku probably knew Aldera would likely fudge things for him to help him get in UA to make themselves look good.
We don't know enough about AM in canon but I do presume that he was from a poorer background due to this view of Bkg's otherwise Bakuboo would not have cared about being seen as "coming from poverty."
TLDR - Inko sits by and does nothing for her son while he was quirkless and being severely bullied because Hori writes her poorly. But there's no nice implication as to why this is the case.
Bakugou is an arrogant idiot who is his own worst enemy - or would be if Hori making him the strongest plot armour all the time.
And AM needs his origins explored - where's the underdog rising to be the number one hero origin story, Hori?

I'm very sure that it's no longer "wait for bus in the rain time" for you (or if it is, that it's to go the other way, else I have deeply misjudged the concept of time) but I have questions:
1) do you think Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts would have been fine if it wasn't a Banjo Kazooie game?
2) Do you have any levels/enemies/etc in any game that you like visually but not mechanically? Either they look cool but are horrible to work with, or there was some cool potential that was squandered by oversimplified moves
It is now once again real bus stop hours, so!
1) I love Nuts & Bolts actually, haha. I think it's fine AS a B-K game. I just wish some things about it were a little different and that it overall wasn't so cynical and mean-spirited about the past games in the series and the 3D platformer/collectathon genre as a whole. I know it's just Rare doing their usual self deprecating humor but it takes it to a really extreme level and, while it doesn't bother me personally too much, it was off-putting to lots of old fans. But I love playing it and I even love its 4th wall breaking story. Admittedly I don't like it as much as the first two games but it's a really special game to me still.
That said, I think the ideal solution was to make it a spinoff, say of one of the other Diddy Kong Racing characters, with loose ties to Banjo-Kazooie but without all the pressure and baggage of being the next one in the series. The team really did want to do something new and it's a fun and unique game that has to get brought down by being "the weird/bad one" of a beloved franchise. Although... If it hadn't been a BK game I probably wouldn't have played it myself until who knows when, until Rare Replay came out probably... I didn't play Grabbed by the Ghoulies until then (which I love) or Conker (hate, honestly. Sorry to my Conker fan friends)
2) If I think of a good answer for this I'll come back to it. I feel like there must be some good examples but for now I can only think of games that have good aesthetics overall but were also disappointing overall. Like Epic Mickey...

For the AH asks!! 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 17, 38, 44 and 51 (hope that's not too many to answer 😅)
Hahaha, love, no problem at all. It's like 2013 tumblr where I'm just doing all these ask games again.
How did you get into AH? I'm boring and got into AH through Rage Quit, like all of them! My current (kind of) partner had never really heard of AH and I was going back through with him last weekend, which made me remember the first ever AH video I ever watched was The Impossible Game Part Two. Swiss-fucking-cheese-god-damn-it was the phrase that hooked me lol. Went through all the rage quits and then into the minecrafts and then to the GTAs and now here we are.
Who was your favorite when you started? Immediately, Michael and Gavin as I was introduced to AH via Rage Quit and I loved their dynamic, like everyone!
Who’s your favorite now? Favorite is such a tricky word because I love them all for all sorts of different ways. My partner asked me the same question and I didn't really have an answer. Of course still Michael (and Gav, when he's around). I adore Matt. I really love Ky and BK and their interactions. I am obsessed with Dad Michael and Kid Joe dynamic. Last but certainly not least I love the Red Web boyos. I really do think Treh has the softest spot in my heart right now though.
Favorite ship? I am a ride or die OG OT5 girlie (Michael/Jack/Geoff/Gavin/Jeremy) even if it doesn't make sense with the current layout. FAHC isn't AH really, so it doesn't matter lol.
For new crew? I am a hardcore Alfreyo shipper and BK/Ky (what is their ship name...?)
Favorite AU?
I'm still such a slut for the FAHC, honestly. Although the new outlaw AU is super cute. I also have a huge thing for 7 Days, its one of my favorite games, and there's not a lot of 7 Days AU out there so a girlies gotta take what she can get.
Favorite experience meeting any of the crew?
This will be my 5th RTX, but one of the best experiences was meeting Michael after Theater Mode in like 2018. He was obviously stupidly tired and just wanted to go home but he stayed and chatted with everyone who lined up to take pictures with him. Me and my friend were one of the last ones and I was like "we don't have to get a photo, go home" and he was like "nah come here" and it was super sweet.
Also pulling Treh over for a photo and getting to say hi was awesome.
Poor Joe at RTX last year was just still so flabbergasted anyone ever wanted to meet him, he is such a sweet boy.
Double hugs from Ky and BK <3 <3 <3
Matt gives one of the best hugs I've ever had.
Jeremy was so happy I was shorter than him.
Not AH, but I met Greg Miller at PAX once and he came running over to ME to take a pic because I was in an AH hat and signed it huge so the real AH guys had to fight for the premium real estate lollllll
Favorite GTA mini-series?
Gotta say Criminal Masterminds despite the fact that I don't really feel comfy going back and rewatching it. Only series I've ever watched that I was literally on the edge of my seat. They gotta do something like that again.
Has AH ever inspired you?
AH inspired me to make the videos that I had on YouTube and because of them I have like 300 subs. I don't make them anymore but it was a really great time in my life. I haven't updated them though, so proceed with caution.
Any videos, series, podcasts, etc. You’d recommend to new fans?
My partner that I mentioned is just getting into AH so I'm trying my best to compile a good watch list for him. Survive Block Island is incredible. The 7 Days series is top notch. Weird Place. Haunter, if you don't mind a certain someone being in it. Red Web has my heart.
There's so much incredible content, even from 2021 onward. Binge. Enjoy. Smile. Laugh! <3

I know that you like Jarod, but now that Ludveck's in Heroes, I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Jarod's smarmy brown haired twin.
LISTEN it's so nuts to me bc like
Ludveck is a perfect choice for this banner!
But... when Micaiah came out, where was Jarod?!
I huff, and I puff, and I blow IntSys' house down!
Anyway, on to Luddywuddypuddy...
IIII don't like him! I mean, he's a decent villain, nothing grand or unexpected, but I think his existence was solely to prop up Elincia. I don't dislike Elincia and I enjoyed her in part two, but he didn't seem to have any particular standout traits. Jarod for instance, he does strike me as a petty villain simply to make Micaiah look good, but he did have good lines and gave the feeling of a commander who was highly respected by the people who followed him. He's funny imo too, and all of that is at least more to his character than Villain for Arc #1.
Ludveck to me kind of felt more bland. He was easily outwitted and even though he had contingency plans, he doesn't come out on top in any way. For example, Jarod, the villain just prior to him, got his last words in by damaging Nevassa before he would be judged by the apostle. Even if he died, he took some of his enemies down with him like he wanted. Ludveck ended up with nothing but his ass in jail.
All Ludveck got to really do was sacrifice his own people as pawns (admitting they were disposable pawns too), ultimately being outwitted by both Geoffrey and Elincia. Geoffrey knew of an old highway that Ludveck apparently didn't know about, and Elincia defied his predictions at every turn for the entire section of the game.
I guess ultimately to me he has no standout qualities that make him much better than the senators? Like I guess you could say Hetzel was a bit more of a character that stood out to me as not being nefarious like the other senators, but most of them were the same general character. If you wanted the difference between Numida, Valtome, Oliver and Lekain for example, there really is no difference except that one of them joins you because ??? (not sure why the devs did that other than for the memes honestly, like I really have no idea), and that Lekain is basically the boss of all of them. Besides that stuff they're just like, a blob of all the same character.
Ludveck kinda feels like a much more generic villain, which is really rare for Tellius to have as far as non-chapter boss villains. Even the senators at least have presence and come across as threats over a long period. There's just something about Ludveck that didn't click with me, I guess. At least the senators actually caused a lot of trouble within the story, you know? Like they feel kind of like all the same person but they did do damage and have a huge impact on the story. Ludveck wasn't an interesting character like Jarod and he didn't have a lasting impact on the story like the senators.
I can't really compare him to BK and Sephiran since those two are more like... ingrained into the story itself. If you lose them you lose a lasting impact on various things, but if you take out Ludveck, he's so confined to such a small part of the story that nothing really changes, and had no interesting traits. Like, if you took out part two of RD, it wouldn't change... anything, really. You could put any other villain in Luddy's place and it would feel the same to me.
One thing he did do for me was tell me that Haar was capable of soloing half that map on his own so I guess that's cool too LOL.
Tbh my favorite part of part two was Geoffrey and was part of what made me love his character. I guess Ludveck had a bit of a hand in that since I enjoyed seeing Ludveck get outwitted by Geoffrey and it showed a lot more character from Geoffrey than what we got in PoR since he was a late game arrival in PoR. When it comes to the man himself though I feel like any villain could've still made me love Geoffrey more.
Sorry Ludveck, you wanted to be Jarod but you simply could not be Jarod.
#DCB Ask#when I was little I liked to pronounce Geoffrey's name as Gee-oh-free#I knew how to pronounce it but I just. wanted to meme. before I knew what memeing was.#unfortunately for Geoffrey. he was little me meme material.

1, 2, 13 for the storytelling asks!
Aaaaah Nik ♥ I love you for sending these ask, thanks a lot. I'm going to answer that for Destiny Harbour serie as it's my main project.
1/ what’s the last screenshot you’ve taken for your story?
it's not really for the story itself, I thought about making my new main but still hesitating so I don't know. I still didn't take any DH2 screenshots that haven't been posted on ep 0 but I'm working on it so it might start sooner than I thought !
2/ describe your story in three words or less
Occult inclusive mess :)
13 / from basic planning to a finished post, how long does that take you?
If basic planning is the idea of the story/post well it can take me years as I wrote the entire plan for the entire 5 seasons, I know where I'm going. I like to work on editing after I wrote the main script first. The script isn't super detailled but it is in my mind, it's mostly what you read with the post with just dialogue and few indication about what's going on around. This can take few hours, a day or more, even weeks if I'm uninspired. After that I have to make the lots and sims prepared (I usually like to prepare the lookbooks in advance as I know what scenes are coming) which usually takes a week or two depending on my computer and motivation and then I start the editing process with the pose using in game that takes around 2/3 hours each evening when I start. I try to take all the screenshots I need for a full chapter which is around 30 screen, I take a bit more so I can choose which angle looks better. Then there's the editing process that doesn't take me a lot of time as I don't edit my stories heavily, but I want to try new things so it might take me more time this time ^^ So let's say that it usually takes me around 2 months with a 2/3h daily session to usually make DH. It takes more time if you include the posting time as well though.
Honestly, I feel like this has become like a second job as I'm working on it at least an hour or two every day I think. I took a weekend off last weekend and felt guilty a bit because I didn't work on my story but we all need to rest a little so I try not to stress myself too much over it either, it's not like I'm making millions with it and I know that my readers are patient enough and have plenty of awesome stories to read around here (yours is still in my top 3, even top 1 with the BK legacy) so I'm confident for what's to come.
Thanks again @xldkx for these asks ♥ I wonder how many time it takes you for Papercuts now !
#answered ask#xldkx#about DH#I also work on my own private stories as well#I'm rewritting a show I wrote in university#it's actually great but no one cares about it :/#it's a drama comedy focused on 25/30 friends#basically my nights are my writting daily job XD#thinking about making it my actual job these days honestly#finding a work in this world seems impossible after graduation ><

Everyone knows how good friends Z and Mandy are with their joint insta and what not. But not everyone knows how good friends Mandy and Ruben are aftonbladet(.)se/sportbladet/fotboll/a/765Pr8/psg-hacken-basta-vannerna-mots-i-champions-league-kvalet
They meet at weddings and in the Champions League.
Elin Rubensson and her bridesmaid Amanda Ilstedt collide in Paris this time.
- We are very close friends, but when we meet on the football pitch it doesn't matter, says BK Häcken's Elin Rubensson
BK Häcken wants to go to the group stage in the Champions League. But then Paris Saint-Germain must be defeated over two games.
Elin Rubensson believes that it is possible. Even though the worst enemy is a close friend.
- Going into periods like this can be good for the team. We know we have to be at our best to beat a team like PSG.
What will be important to you in the first meeting?
- You have to think about two games. We want to get as good a result as possible, we know we are strong at home.
- We know it will be a tough away game, but we absolutely have the chance. We are in good shape right now, says Elin Rubensson.
One of the challenges for Häcken will be to pass Paris Saint-Germain's defender Amanda Ilstedt. Elin Rubensson knows what awaits when her best friend, the one who was a bridesmaid at the wedding when Elin and Filip got married, is on the opposing side. Just like last year when Amanda Ilestedt played in Bayern Munich.
- It is going to be fun. It feels like we always meet in the Champions League. We keep an eye on each other, says Elin Rubensson.
How close are you to each other?
- We are very close friends and have been for a long time. We don't talk every day, but we know where we stand and will stay together for a long time.
Elin Rubensson, Häcken's experienced midfielder, sees that her friend and national team colleague makes a difference at PSG.
Bringing in a superstar
Offensively, PSG is a sharp team, even if the team's leading scorer, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, has a knee injury. But the team is strengthened with the Dutch star Lieke Martens. She, who has a background in Kopparbergs/Göteborg and FC Rosengård, left Barcelona this summer for Paris.
- They have very skilled players. They have Ramona (Bachmann and Lieke Martens. They are players we have met before, but they are not overpowering players and we also have talented players, points out Elin Rubensson.
The match will be played on Wednesday evening at 20.30 and you can watch it here on sportbladet.se

Okay the real 5 hcs ask: you've got a bunch of AUs going pick your favorite and do 5 hcs for it
this implies that the bkdk chinchillas au isnt a real au and i resent that /lh but actually now ive forgotten every au i created ever
its ok though cause im remembering some aus now...because i need to flesh it out a bit here's quirkless bkg x pro hero deku for ya
5 headcanons ask game: https://deadwriter16.tumblr.com/post/669870021217075200/okay-i-am-at-home-and-can-therefore-make-an-actual
deku is about three years older then katsuki. they did grow up together but deku was never really someone bkg cared about since they were in different age groups and therefore never really played together. this all changed, however, when bkg was diagnosed quirkless and him and izuku became the only two quirkless kids in the neighborhood. bkg started calling izuku deku as a joke bc deku became a bit like bkg's protector since he'd been used to the bullies for a while and bkg was all like i don't need ur protection nerd. anyway as children they fanboyed over all might together but bkg was realistic about how they couldn't be heroes so they fantasized about a world where they could be heroes and made realistic future plans together (izuku a quirk analysist, bakugou starting as a model and then taking over his parent's fashion empire)
they grow apart when izuku is in his last year of middle school, after he saves bakugou from the sludge villain (this happens the same as in canon but bkg is quirkless so its worse), and deku is offered OFA by all might. deku wants to tell bkg but since he's older he thinks he has to protect kacchan, so he doesn't tell bkg anything. bkg can tell izuku is keeping secrets and once he gets into UA its the last straw for bkg and he gets angry, confronting deku. deku refuses to tell him under the excuse of having to protect him, so bkg starts purposely closing off from deku when he goes to UA. eventually UA implements the dorm system (tokoyami is kidnapped instead) and they stop talking
bkg moves away and starts a modeling career at his parent's fashion company but in a different location in japan. by the time he and deku meet again he's working as both a famous model and training to become the CEO of his parent's company. bkg is following deku's progress as a hero and is annoyed he cant seem to figure out where deku's quirk came from, or if he was lying the whole time, since deku never said anything, but he cant help but watch deku since he admires him so much. they meet again when deku is relocated to bkgs city and his patrol route passes the building bkg works at every day and bkg sees deku like jump off his roof when he's at work and he's like what the fuck is that deku. bkg confronts deku the next day and dekus faced with an older, self sufficient, capable kacchan who can handle things himself. so they meet for coffee, reconnect, and deku tells bkg everything about OFA and all might
bkg and deku start meeting up more and bkg learns more about OFA and deku's experiences in UA and yells at him to be less self-sacrificing and also to stop thinking of him as that little quirkless kid. they're both so much more. and deku is just enamored with this new kacchan, although he loved the old kacchan too. point is he's absolutely in love and keeps saying how amazing kacchan is and bkgs like you're the amazing one, you're the pro hero. and deku's like u don't have to be a hero to be amazing kacchan ur so cool and they just have this horrible pining stage in which bkg feels bad cuz he was so mean to deku when he didn't know abt OFA, and deku feels super guilty for not trusting bkg with the secret in the first place. eventually they hash this out and both bk and dk forgive each other
when they finally get together, it's after almost a year because these two are just stupid. but eventually they get together and they go to hero conventions and runway shows together. bkg sits next to deku at his booth and scares away any flirty fans, and when deku leaves for a break he stands in line and gets a bunch of deku merch, and then makes his bf sign it. deku always gets so flustered and blushy its adorable. meanwhile bkg becomes the CEO of his parents company but still does work as a model just for fun, and deku is enamored with his shows. he thinks bkg is the hottest and most badass model ever and always brings him flowers and cheers for him at every show. bkg pretends to be embarrassed but he loves it
the end!! this was fun to flesh out!! im definitely gonna write this someday, but there'll be more plot and stuff so it doesn't just exactly follow these hcs. but yeah this is my quirkless!bkg x hero!deku au!!

I had a slightly angsty idea inspired sort of by your Thingrey AU and an anime with shapeshifting alien parasites.
Body Horror Warning
So let's say Gordon gets severely wounded, like impaled and suffering damage to some vital organs. Benrey panics bc he doesn't want to lose Gordon, so he calls on all the information he gained from eating enemy humans, figures out which organs are required for survival, and he uses shapeshifting to recreate the vital ones with some of his own biomass and then carefully sets them in place so they can pick up the slack left by the ruined human organs (which were removed, and possibly consumed by Benrey for 'recycling' purposes)
It would take some work, to make sure the replacement organs don't follow a "consume and convert" directive and end up completely replacing the human, but if it does work, then Gordon wakes up with a few enhancements.
(Or he wakes up partway through the process to see an alarmed Benrey with one limb tendril reaching into his chest. Wouldn't THAT be a shock)
And overtime, the result of living with alien organs means Gordon becomes less human (or more than human) as the alien organic matter integrates properly.
Basically another take on the concept of Benrey unintentionally making Gordon like himself, and teaching him how to exist in this new state.
OKAY SO THIS GOT REALLY LONG CAUSE I GOT TWO AUS/PLOTS THAT SHARE IDEAS WITH THIS HERE WHOOPS i’ve thought about something kinda similar to that whole “thingrey heals gordon by basically giving him a biomass transplant” thing! i’ve mentioned before that gordon doesn’t get his hand fully cut off in this au, but it does get cut down to the bone, and aside from some sweet voice to stop the bleeding, it doesn’t get proper treatment until they get back to the states. he keeps his hand, but it’s got nerve damage, and how well he can feel and move his hand fluctuates often. thingrey feels kinda guilty over this, both ‘cause if he’d just stuck around longer he probably could’ve healed the wound up fully, and also the only reason that red shirt attacked gordon in the first place was cause the dude was paranoid about gordon being another “thing”. he tries brainstorming ways to maybe fix the damaged nerves.... all he can think of is by replacing those nerves with his own biomass... but then, since literally every part of himself is connected to his consciousness, he’d basically become gordon’s hand, and neither of them are very jazzed about that idea. so he tries to figure out a way to replace the damaged nerves, and then maybe... remove his consciousness from those cells? and hope they don’t do like you said and basically turn into a fucked-up alien cancer. he tests this out on some deer in the woods, giving them non-fatal injuries that at least fuck up their nerves, replacing those damaged nerves with some of himself, trying to yank his own ‘brain’ out of them (takes a few tries, but he’s able to do it eventually!) and then very closely watching the deer to see if his old cells go all super cancer on the deer. when they don’t, just integrating cleanly and seamlessly with the deer’s body, he is absolutely delighted :) this doesn’t end with gordon turning into his own thing-alien, tho. i have another au that DOES, though! it also involves a “sharing a body” thing.
so gordon’s dying from some sort of unknown cancer-like disease he developed during those times he had to swim through fuckin’, probably-radioactive sewage water while there was a hole in his HEV suit with a big open wound. despite their best efforts, nobody’s able to figure out how to cure him, but then benrey gets the idea of just making him a new body like he does for himself. but to get gordon’s consciousness in said new body and actually stick, gordon needs to have a direct link to the cosmic ether like benrey does, so that his life energy will actually be strong enough to keep the body going. and to do THAT, gordon’s consciousness/life energy needs to hang out in a space that’s already full of cosmic energy. which benrey’s brain just so happens to be. this happens still kinda early on in them being roommates, so when benrey proposes the idea he is more than half expecting gordon to turn it down, rather dying than being stuck THAT close to benrey for however long it’d take to get him all cosmic-i-fied. thankfully benrey was wrong on that front, as gordon tells him that “Dude, you’re annoying as hell, but are in NO way worse than straight-up death. Let’s do it.” gordon doesn’t get to control benrey’s body any, he’s just riding shotgun. “spectator mode” as benrey describes it. he is able to feel all of benrey’s senses, though, and benrey uses this to do him another solid and offers to do stuff that gordon missed being able to do while bedbound, benrey’s like “i’m your player character in a life sim game now, bro.” the first thing gordon asks benrey to do is eat some fast food from like bk or mcdiddy’s or something because “All I could eat for well over a month was that nasty fucking slop they served at the hospital. In liquid form. I want. A fucking. Cheeseburger.” some weird dream shit also happens, and gordon ends up learning a whole lot more about his weird alien annoyance-turned-enemy-turned-roommate-turned-savior while stuck in his head. once gordon officially achieves glowcloud status, benrey puts him together a new body (he tried to get as many details about gordon’s old looks right, but also assured gordon that if any where off, he could fix them himself. grats feetman, YOU’RE a shape-shifter now, too!) oh yeah, and in order to get gordon out of benrey’s body, benrey just does what gets his own consciousness out of it. and dies. by just casually snapping his own neck. gordon is VERY DISTRESSED by this but tries to calm down cause he knows for a fact that benrey ain’t dead. it’s still awkward as hell having to tip-toe around his at-the-moment lifeless body, after gordon slips into his brand new one. tho when benrey ‘wakes back up’, gordon just yells at benrey for not giving him a proper warning before the guy broke his fucking neck. also later mr. coolatta does his bs time freeze thing to have a word with the newly ‘ascended’ gordon, and gordon decks in the fucking face, having now learned not only about benrey’s lab rat childhood, but that mr. coolatta is p much the whole reason benrey had to grow up like that. thankfully mr. coolatta is just ‘that’s fair’, as tommy was similarly pissed at him when he learned. (tommy didn’t punch him, but he did near completely avoid interacting with his father for over a month, and what little interactions they did have at that time, tommy made a point to give off just the angriest fucking vibes. mr. coolatta would rather have been punched, honestly.) THAT GOT LONG WOW, i’ve just had a lot of thoughts about this “sharing a body/becoming non-human” mix au of mine, ha ha. might make a whole fic one day. maybe. dunno.

Top 15 Pokémon
I made a post a while back where I went back into my old Pokémon Platinum save file and listed all my Pokémon names, and I said I might come up with an updated list as to what I name my favorite Pokémon. Why not start by doing my Top 15. No order, as usual. I'll add the rule that each Pokémon I list, represents that line so if I say "Pikachu", I also mean Pichu and Raichu had that name as well.

Raichu - SunnyD. When I was a kid, my bio dad would take me to his girlfriends house and she bought me this purple Pikachu ball

Pretty sure it's this one. I searched all over the internet for it but this is the only picture I could find, or else I probably would've bought it again. But that was also the first place I ever had Sunny-D so I put two and two together. Also, you know how they'll have MLG Pikachu with glasses, a blunt and Mtn. Dew. Instead of all that, I made one with just glasses and Sunny-D for my profile pic at one point. It stuck.
Charizard - Fury. When GoAnimate was a thing, I made a series called "The Party" where Jak left Daxter home alone to go on a date with Keira so Daxter throws a party and invites Charizard among the guests. I was trying to get him to do a horse whistle and it ended up coming out like "Furrrrreeeeee" so I just named him Fury out of convenience.
Shellder - Ike. One time I went to my friends house to play Halo and we met a kid named Isaac on Xbox Live but he told us to call him Ike. This was kind of in honor of him because he was probably the least toxic kid we talked to on there.
Skarmory - Mercury. A decent amount of these names can go both ways, with this one, if it's a boy, Merc, if it's a girl, Mercury. I feel like this one is pretty simple and doesn't really need an explanation.
Monferno - Lazlo. This one is hard because he's my top favorite ever and I've had various names for him over time and I'm not sure there will ever be a definitive one but this is the current one. I went to either BK or McD's to get one of those Pokémon cards, it happened to be Monferno. I believe in chance. You know what other toy I got from there once? A Lazlo pencil topper, another orange monkey.
Treecko - Grover. Because Grovyle sounds like Grover and I just like the idea of him being a muppet. Before Monferno, I had one of those Wendy's "toys", which is where I started liking him. (Ok, maybe I believe in chance A LOT. But not as much as my dad)
Poliwhirl - Clue. I started Pokémon as a young kid but I fell out of it until I was around 9 because of divorce stuff, Yada Yada, but I still had a few toys. A Pikachu Party VHS, Pokémon Colosseum (which I never learned how to play), PKMN The First Movie VHS (which magically went missing and my mom told me my bio dad lost it and my bio dad told me my mom lost it), a mini Geodude and a mini Poliwhirl (stuff you'd get out of a capsule machine). That has nothing to do with the name, I just wanted to state my connection to him. So, I used to have a bullfrog named "Nion", why? When I looked up Starkiller's name from The Force Unleashed, it said his name was 'Nion', and it is...his son's middle name. Starkiller is a clone of Galen Marek, still with me? CLOne. Clo looked a bit weird so I took that and make it Clue. Whether you want to play with that and say it was because of CLU in Tron or the board game or Blue's Clues since he's blue(-ish) then be my guest if that makes it simpler, welcome to my thought process.
Smeargle - Bradley. I was on a site called "PokeHeroes" where you collect various Pokémon then trade them, breed them or sell them and use the money to buy a rare egg. Well, I asked what to name him on my status and someone said "Bradley". Probably the most normal on this list.
Umbreon - Noctis. I said I had Pokémon Colosseum so this should come as no surprise. But yeah, I name all the Eevees different FFXV refs. (I do like shiny Umbry more though) also Noctis' dog is named Umbra so...
Totodile - LaCroc. (Or LaCroix). One of the funny things my dad says is "I'm gonna shove a croc up your ass." when he's peeved, so I guess I made good on that threat. It sounds better in French. "I'm finna shove a la Croc up your de cul." Not an official translation mind you.
Togepi - StarChild. It's kind of just been a staple for me because that's what I named him/her as a kid and is one of the only names I kept consistent just for the sheer novelty of it.
Electivire - Trench. I gotta be honest...I've only ever got an Electivire through Showdown, mods and Action Replay for the simple reason that I'm a loner therefore don't trade Pokémon, which unfortunately is required for this one. But if I ever did get him, I'd name him Trench after the TOP album. (colors man, colors) but otherwise I used to name Elekid Duracell.
Turtwig - Guacamole. What need I say, colors. But even if Monferno is on here, that doesn't mean that I didn't pick Turtwig first. He was my first after I got back into Pokémon so I didn't even know what any of the second or third forms looked like yet, I basically went into Diamond blind. So I don't think I even realized you could name them yet. I also thought of Turtilla which could be short for Tortilla, Gozilla, Turt-Killa.
Ivysaur - Sierra. Because when she sprays her sleep powder and stuff, it's like a mist. Sierra Mist. And I like that name in general.
Blastoise - Sucker. Slang for lollipop. I couldn't not have the other Kanto starter on here. When I was a kid, I had this fantasy of Blastpiss, I mean Blastoise, shooting piss, I mean lollipops out of his cannons. Maybe I was sucking on a lollipop when I watched the first movie, I don't know but whenever I saw him, I'd think "Sucker!"
Just know that this was a tough list to make. There are so many Pokémon and so many more that I wanted to put on here. But yeah, I think in the end, these are my favorites., for now anyways...

So, Banjo Kazooie rumors again huh?
Frankly, i'll believe it when I see it. I'm tired of hoping. I almost don't want it to happen. I have no faith that it wil be as good as the N64 games, I just know it will be either too far removed from what I like about BK, or it will stick super close to the original games but will likely be bad to mediocre with either no new ideas or new ideas that aren't fun and only there for the sake of newness, and some pea brained game reviewer is gonna say shit like "this just proves the 3D collect-a-thon platformer genre that was frankly long in the tooth on the N64 should stay forgotten in the 90's, no excuse me while I go play the 10/10 super mario odyssey because it's okay when Mario does it."
Of course i'd be happy to be wrong and a new BK does happen and is exactly in the spirit of the two N64 games with some exciting new mechanics that don't feel slapped on. and is basically the original art style in HD rather than the horror show that was Nuts 'n Bolts... of course i'd also be pretty sad because there's no way I could play it unless it's multiplat, or at least available on PC, but rumor is this will be Xbox exclusive on account of Xbox needing more family friendly franchises. ( side note, I hope this doesn't mean a new Banjo would be super sanitized for kids, there's a lot of crass humor in BK and even a few thinly veiled adult jokes. )
