Ok fine I will post the life updates now Hello! I spent all of 2024 and a good half of 2025 being intentionally barely-online. Recently I have become more active again for a few reasons. The biggest reason is a little game called Donkey Kong Bananza, which has become one of my favorite games I've ever played, in a way that I didn't actually think was possible anymore. For more details on how it made me feel (spoiler-free!) you can click here. I can just say it's everything I've spent years pining for a game to give me, and in fact, even more than I could have possibly dreamed of.

Being part of the hype cycle for this game, even if I was mostly sitting on the sidelines to avoid getting too emotionally invested in theories, is something that I'm really glad I didn't miss out on. And the whole experience, both of anticipating and playing it, and tangential topics that spun out of that (such as considerations of caring about the lore/history of "silly" platformer franchises) has sorta recharged my love of video games entirely and made me rethink my goals as a member of online spaces and how I can be a good steward of the things I care about, a historian and proponent and enthusiast of my favorite games and characters. I have also reconnected with a lot of old friends over the joy this game has brought us.

That said, I have absolutely no intention of returning to being more active on tumblr, for a few reasons, despite the wonderful people I met here. I can only handle so much. However, I will try to check in more often and be open to answering asks and the like. Hopefully I will at least be better about posting art over on @altermentality. I have a lot to catch up on, and a lot of new stuff I want to make in the coming months.

Aside from that, well, I got married in October 2024; I gave up alcohol back in April (this has overall improved my physical/mental health, even though I sometimes miss it) and I have other things on the horizon that I'm hoping for. Last year I picked up the habit of making music for DK64 randomizer, which was my first creative involvement with music in over a decade. I met a lot of wonderful IRL friends over the past year+ by fighting my anxiety and putting myself out there into my community. I am overall far happier and less depressed than I was for years and years, although of course the bad thoughts still haunt me sometimes.

There are two good places to keep up with me right now: Bluesky and my stream. It took me a while to settle into enjoying bsky but I'm pretty active there for the moment.

I'd appreciate knowing how YOU'VE been doing in the past year or so, my friends!

(And yes, Donkey Kong may be my biggest/oldest fandom, but I do miss talking about those Rabbids...)

Not at all lol, I'm glad you like it!! That first one is soooo old though holy crap, I'm glad SOMEONE is still getting some value from digging around in my deviantArt. And if you like the invocation of religious imagery for funny Rare mascot platformer characters, just wait until you see what I'm gonna post tomorrow (let's just say it's a holiday for my all-time fav) Btw: it was not my intention but Lord Woo and King Jingaling should totally kiss, yes. It takes extreme devotion and dedication to get anywhere near the mouth of a giant anglerfish. (To everyone else, since this is my first post on this blog in a year and a half: Hi! Hey everyone, This is the former bramble-scramble. I wanted to put my time on this blog behind me in a more official way, so I've changed the theme to better reflect what I did while I was active.

I will continue to post art and comic updates on @altermentality, including doodle collections sometimes (the kind of thing I would have formerly posted here) but this blog will remain fully inactive.

I'm doing a lot better mentally since deciding to spend less time online and less time in fandom spaces. But I hope someone in the future gets some kind of enjoyment out of what I made here.

Have any of my followers/mutuals played Princess Peach Showtime? How do you like it?

I wanted to play it at release but am trying to save money due to a lot of other expenses in my life lately. I'll get around to it eventually. With hardly being online, I really haven't been spoiled on anything.

As of writing this, I know you haven't seen the other update I sent you (or haven't had the time/energy to respond). But I have another one I want to show you. I'm very nervous about it, but I think it's going well. I also could have forgotten to send you the previous update, and if I did then I'm sorry.

It's him!!! It's so cool to be making an IRL craft, isn't it? I'm trying to get a lot more into it recently... it's nice to have something you can hold, something that doesn't just exist on a computer screen or flat piece of paper. It's a lot of work and sometimes materials can be expensive but the result is so much worth it :)

And yeah, I got both of the asks- I haven't been around much, but I'm glad the project is going well!!

He sees her as a poor adaptation of Peach's character; the showman in him is screaming, "Where is the nuance!"

Shadow Queen doesn't have complex motivations or methods; she wants global despair and destruction, nothing else and nothing more.

Oh, absolutely. For all of TTYD's strengths, complexity in its main villains (Grodus/Shadow Queen) is not really one of them (while a lot of the characters who work underneath them, or chapter-specific villains, are far more interesting). I think Phantom would despise a one-note, "evil for evil's sake" antagonist; he would probably consider himself above even Cursa for this reason, not realizing that he himself could come across as simplistic, being fueled by jealousy and revenge. He is more complex than all of Mario's other foes, surely! (He insists.... don't tell him about Count Bleck)

On that note, I think Phantom would be a great defender of the complexity of Peach's character, ironically actually respecting her a lot more than many so-called fans who get upset when there's a different take on her, or she deviates from being a pretty pretty princess. If he indeed had a love and admiration for her from the moment he saw her- he himself contains multitudes, so why shouldn't she? Of course, some roles are better than others.

Hello! Sorry for the late response; I haven't felt like writing much recently, nor being around here. I hope you still see this!

But yes, this is something that has been discussed a few times... I think this was the main/origin post for it.

I like to think of this as a possibility for the future, or an AU, not a certainty... as, of course, it would be very bleak to accept that a pairing which means so much to me would be destined to lead to such destruction. That said, it would be interesting to try and explore this event in more detail, but I think I'd have to be in a certain mood, and I'm not sure when I'll be there anytime soon.

A scenario I have thought up though, would generally go as follows. Anyone is free to use any of these ideas as a starting point; as I said, I have no plans to expound on them anytime soon.

Bwahstrella becomes aware that Phantom and Woodrow are dating and prophesizes the doooom that will come about if Woodrow ever composes what he considers his masterpiece.

She tries to warn Woodrow, who brushes her off and ignores her, because his love is more important and because she has done this "rabbid who cries wolf" situation with him many times before, so why should he believe it now?

Since Woodrow won't listen, she decides to spread the word directly to the people of Palette Prime, urging them to do anything to try and disrupt the relationship.

This leads to a rift in the people of the planet, with those who love and support Woodrow (led by Sweetlopek and Dryad) and think that Bwahstrella is a hack or exaggerating, vs. those people who have always resented, disliked or distrusted him- these are the kind of people who beat him up when he was younger, but were gradually shamed out of such actions after he became warden, now looking for an excuse to finally ruin his life again.

With the antagonistic faction becoming ever-more of a violent mob, ready to take desperate measures to ensure that the galaxy isn't destroyed, including possibly hurting Woodrow- he and Phantom are forced to go into hiding, with Sweets and Dryad helping them escape the planet unnoticed.

Somewhere in Phantom's ship in the depths of space, Woodrow grieves the fact that he can't go back to the planet he loves, nor even show his face publicly anywhere as the rumors that he is a ticking time bomb spread. Filled with resentment and sorrow, he wonders if a galaxy-ending poem is nothing to be afraid of, after all. Perhaps Bwahstrella's prophecy is true... perhaps it's something to be embraced... and perhaps the prophecy is self-fulfilling.

Thinking thoughts out loud again, but everything that's been going on with AI and the disrespect towards our entertainment industries and artists as individuals has actually had the exact opposite affect on me where i'm far more spiteful in wanting to make new artwork more then ever before. I'm so so angry and I think my brain wants to channel that anger into projects that I've been putting off for too long instead of letting an overwhelming feeling of apathy take over. If I can't stop assholes from scrapping or stealing mine or my friends shit then at the very least I can still make things that I know people who care about artists will appreciate and that's enough for me for now. I'll know it's not a cheap imitation trying to be something it's not. It's my own authentic work dammit and I'm gonna love making it and sharing it no matter what.

I didn't want to derail on OP, but I was actually thinking recently about if the Werewolf and Vampire AUs could be integrated (at least as a further AU-AU of each of them LMAO)

In my original considerations, Woodrow would contract lycanthropy from living in Spooky Trails, and it would be something he and Phantom would have to struggle with... but this is making me think... what if they both agreed upon it, and it was intentional and they devised a way for him to get the "curse", perhaps from a friendly werewolf associate of Tom's... so they could be creatures of the night and hunt together, without Woodrow having to become a vampire too. It also would make Woodrow more healthy and hardy and thus Phantom has to worry less about accidentally sucking him dry, lol.

Of course it would also lead to misadventures, I'm sure, as a werewolf is not in control of themselves. It would also be fun if Tom could (accidentally or puroposefully?) trigger Woodrow's lycanthropy at any time due to his association with the moon.

Some doodles I've got! I've been drawing a lot but I never share em on here! I've really gotten into Mario and Rabbids and I mostly cannot stop drawing the rabbids and the wardens (mostly Woodrow.)
