Modern Bedroom (Toronto)

So, here's the thing. You look at this home and think you'll be getting a nice 6bd, 7ba, 1924 English Tudor in Indianapolis, IN for $2M. But, it's been updated by the owner/seller, so decisions were made. And, they're not necessarily what you would expect or want.
If you're looking for rich, traditional Tudor wood, it's there, but they painted it black. The floors aren't original, they've been replaced by modern light wood.
You know the beautiful wood walls in Tudors? Well, these are painted white. What made them do this?
The living room is completely modern with mirrored furniture and leather sofas. If a buyer wants a modern home, he can easily buy one, so why would you have to do this to a Tudor?
OMG, they painted the traditional cement stone fireplace black.
Remember yesterday's Tudor? This is how it's supposed to look- grand and castle-like. But, more importantly, this color. (And, the rich wainscoting is not painted white.)
Apparently, to make a modern open concept kitchen with a family room, there wasn't enough space, even when they knocked down a wall, so they squeezed a dining table in on the side, and a few chairs in front of the kitchen. Okay, I love the shell chandies, even though they're not Tudor style.
Just from watching the finicky buyers on "House Hunters," they're going to say that this kitchen is small.
Bad faux finish to make the pantry look old.
They place another smaller dining table here and blocked the door to the garden.
And, here's another dining area.
Okay, the small powder room isn't too bad. I like the wallpaper and they left the original medicine chest.
All the wood is black. This makes me feel so bad.
The primary bd. is gray and the fireplace has been redone.
Renovated en-suite.
Walk-in closet and dressing room has a desk and drink fridge.
The upstairs landing. It's nice, but I couldn't say I lived in a Tudor.
A game room with arches all painted an off-white.
One of the other bedrooms- the wainscoting painted white.
Renovated bath.
This is the finished attic in gray scale.
A powder room up here.
.92 acre lot. It's a beautiful home, it's just not an English Tudor, anymore.

id like to imagine all the winners, in the persona of the season they won in, get to sit together during the games. so, not like their secret life personas are hanging together, but 3L!Grian and LL!Scott DL!Pearl LimL!Martyn and now SL!Scar
and they each have one thing that was important/big to their season
Part 2
Grian is the first to enter the winner's room with his Pizza banner. The ground is sandy and the wallpaper is made to look like cacti. He touches it, hesitantly, testing if it's real cacti. To his relief, it isn't, and he rests his whole hand on it for a moment. The room is rather spacious and sandstone seats line the back wall. The air is warm, but he's used to it. This is his desert, with the faux sun high in the faux sky.
He takes a seat on the sandstone, reminiscing in the familiar feeling. It's not long before he pulls his knees up tight against his chest, wrapping his arms around his thighs and his parrot wings around his whole body. It's an act of hiding himself from whomever the next victor is. Grian prays it isn't Scar, he doesn't think he could bare to face him.
The first thing to signal a new winner is the sky. The sun has set and a faux moon illuminates the space around him. He had been sitting alone so long he felt like a part of the scenery, but now with the change he feels out of place. The previously sandstone stairs are now a sleek spruce wood, and the cacti wallpaper has changed to forest-y wallpaper. The air cooled slightly, still warm, but not the overbearing warmth of the desert. In fact, the only sign of a desert left is the sandy floor.
And then Scott walks in with a satisfied smile and wither skeleton skull. And Grian knows he's not his Scott, it's a small change but, Grian can tell he's not the same. Despite that, he can't help the words that spill from his mouth.
"I'm sorry we couldn't protect Jimmy."
"What? Oh, no hard feelings. It's funny, actually, he died first again." Scott decides not to say he died because of Grian.
He also decides not to say Mumbo fell next because of Grian, within seconds of him killing Jimmy. And that they were all teammates. He knows Grian must be dealing with a lot still, it's better to keep it to himself. Scott sits by Grian, who's still trying to make himself small, clearly scared of whoever the next victor may be. They occasionally make conversation, but it's more one sided seeing as it's just Scott telling Grian about the new season.
The air chills, a new winner is born. The sand and wooden seats stay, but the moon is replaced with the sun and the forest wallpaper turns to cobblestone. Grian's sweater protects him from the cold but he can tell Scott is chilly. He uncurls from himself and hesitantly drapes the Pizza banner on Scott's shoulders. He's confused for a second before smiling and wrapping the banner around himself for warmth.
A lady in a red cloak walks in, and Grian knows he knew her in another life, but she's not familiar to him right now. She looks upset, angry, and she's carrying a bucket of powdered snow. Scott must recognize her because he smiles and waves.
"Pearl! It's so good to see you!"
Pearl doesn't process that this Scott isn't her Scott, the one who left her to play a game of doubles alone. She's immediately defensive and shifts into a fighting position.
"It's not good to see you." She spits out at Scott and he visibly flinches.
Pearl goes to sit in the corner opposite them against the wall the entryway is at. There's frostbite nipping at her fingertips and knees but it doesn't seem to affect her. Neither Grian nor Scott make an effort to ask about her season, choosing to keep small talk between them.

CONSTANT FUCKING FLASHING IN MY WINDOW im gonna tear down my neighbors christmas lights i swear to god. i started thinking abt my ideal bedroom as a nice peaceful "happy place" exercise to lull me to sleep but i forgot that im a fucking house design FIEND and i just ended up more awake than i have been ay all in the daytime. i am now thinking of my entire ideal house.its taking all of my willpower not to turn the lights back on and grab the graph paper. my dream... bro if i had it my way i would live in a custom $2.5 million idiot whimsigoth mansion with so much darkwood and pastel wallpaper it comes pre-haunted. the contractors wpuld have wishes out for my death due to all the micro-managing id be doing to make sure they use actual fucking solid wood ans stone and shit and no the industry standard papier mache. in reality i will almost certainly never achieve the architectural details i want or the whole "5 stories and sometimes you get lost in it" vibe or the included observatory and indoor pool, BUT if i had a non-rental property (or cool enough landlord) and enough Fucking Guts i could tet most or all of the interior design aspects i want. IMAGINE. i could make molds for plaster Corinthian faux-columns. couple screws into the wall and BAM rocossical (new combo i invented of rococo and neoclassical) wonderland. the subtle in-ceiling slow pulsing star lights would be harder to pull off diy but plastic glow in the dark stars area worthy second place. speaking of pulsing lights ITS LIKE A RAVE IN HERE WILL YOU TURN THOSE OFF!!

@dollsahoy confirming for me that the cottage house is just 90′s style led me to look at 90′s cottage decor (as though I didn’t live through that...) and I went “Oh, that looks like almost my entire scrapbook paper stash...”
So here’s some wallpaper musings from the fireplace sitting room when I was supposed to be focusing on the kitchen but nope I’m sidetracked, now.
(first, though, look at all the different ways my phone interpreted the colors of things as I went)
I have this warm faux granite contact paper that I could cut shapes out of to stick to the fireplace. I don’t know if I want to do that, but I could.
I did not find any leftover brick pattern paper. I think all of that went into the urban apartment I built.
The first three seem a little too juvenile? for a family cottage? They read more kids’ room to me. I don’t care for gold, either, so the gold hearts are kind of eh even though that paper is ivory and better matches the rest of the yellowed plastic. The grey paper is textured but I don’t think it adds anything to the look of the “room”.
Time period appropriate and even has a pre-installed border XD I’m kind of avoiding papers with white backgrounds, though. The rest of the white parts of the house have turned ivory, and I’m rolling with the color changes to the plastics instead of fighting them. This would work, though.
Too dark. Don’t like it. That wood paper might make good fireplace logs, though. I don’t think I will make any, but I have the option.
All the wrong shade of blue.
I do like the shade of green on the stripes paper when paired with other segments of the house. The pink is sort of close to the color of the electronics, but I kind of like that this house isn’t very pink (though I rather like pink). The other two greens that I’d considered for the fridge I don’t like too much as wallpaper, either.
Even though the big flowers paper is pre-grunged and I have a problem with that (will get to later), I don’t hate it. I think it would look pretty nice, really. The smaller flowers paper I do not like for a wall. Too busy for me.
I do really like all of these as wallpapers (even the reds) and they look good with the other colors of the house, but they’re all too detailed (the pre-applied grunge) and I think that looks very out of place with how simple and cartoony the rest of the house is. If I were going to do a hardcore full customization and make the doll house as realistic as possible, these would be ideal wallpapers and/or floor tiles.
These are my favorites out of the papers I have on hand. Some of these are pretty juvenile, too, but don’t strike me as much like “this is a child’s bedroom” as the others.

How would you describe your ‘aesthetic’ ? Like what kind of things do you find interest in? :)
Hmm, I'd say I'm quite eclectic in my aesthetic, but I have a preference for black, alot of stuff in my house isn't how I'd want things due to it being rented and something's I got for convenience, but I love black furniture, black stardust tiles, I love light silver glittery wallpaper, I'd have a wood feature wall in my bedroom if I could, like a dark mahogany... Errm, I love shiny stuff *whispers* I'm a magpie really...
But I have skulls, a tiger statue, a bronze rabbit, pocket watch, black faux roses in a crystal vase (I'm allergic to flowers yay another allergy 🤣) dragons, a grey rug, a blue Sherpa blanket, grey bedding, a massive TV (65 inches) cuz I love gaming lol 🤣, lava lamp, I have alot of smart tech in my house like lightbulbs, air purifiers, extension plugs, Google nest hubs... I also like Disney stuff, potter stuff, MCU, band stuff, my coffee pots are crushed diamond and so is my kitchen roll holder and I plan to get more stuff like that and replace the handles on my cabinets to gem ones and replace the doors to black glossy ones 💜
Clothing wise I like to wear black ribbed flared trousers, and black etc tops, but I do vary with shiny, glittery tops, not often colourful but I do have a few different coloured stuff in my wardrobe, I got a nice blue lurex top and a purple one too, I have a black glittery blazer, but I go for comfort over fashion, but I'd say I don't exactly look casual even though my clothes are really comfortable, oh and my trainers are black with black gemstones all over them... I love silver and black stuff... Also I'm a rabid Pokémon card collector (cuz shiny 🤣🤣 last count was 1925 cards currently but I've got several hundred coming in the post too 🤣🤣🤣💜)
(my Pokémon cards ^^)
A few pics of the vibes around my house 💜💜
