“Break what’s not broken, then you have something to fix.”

It was 1828, there was upheaval and political unrest in Romania. Perfect time to enter the convent. Anya was a young beauty, diligent in her prayers and rituals and was ever ready to help the women and children affected by the turmoil. As a novice, she also helps the wounded men. As a woman of the Lord she is to remain politically neutral and help anyone in need come to Christ.

During a siege in Moldovia, she was one of the young nurse/novice assisting the sick in a makeshift hospital. That’s where she met Friar Andrei. He was a middle aged priest in charge of the congregation nearby and provides medical supplies and food to the hospital. Their paths would cross caring for the sick and so she thought nothing of it.

One night, she made a mistake going to the cloister alone while on a run to get some bandages, a cloth was placed on her mouth with some sort of primitive chloroform.

She awakened without clothes on, and was repeatedly assaulted in the dark for weeks by a man wearing an Ottoman uniform. Is this to be my fate? She asked herself starting to lose faith in humanity and the God that she once trusted to protect her

As she escaped the dungeon she was kept at when the soldier was out, she was surprised that the labyrinthine halls she made her way through opens to a door that lead to the monastery! A new hope in her emerged that she can find solace and in this sanctuary, she sought the help of Friar Andre and the nuns that were there. She was cared for and hidden for a month or two because of her shame. She tries to help out in the monastery but whispers of her ordeal were being spread and so she decided to keep to herself and confined to her room.

One day, she wasn’t feeling well. It must be the lack of sunlight being contained in a room with a little slab for a window. After a series of visits from a physician, she found out she was carrying a child. Deep sadness overcame her as she knew she and her child, will be rejected by society. The nuns suggested a visit to the apothecary to rid of the child so she can continue to live her life as a nun, but the thought of ending a life made her despondent.

She went to Friar Andrei for confession but she couldn’t bring herself to go to the booth for fear of being seen and spoken of by tongue wagging hypocrites, and so she asked for a private audience in his parlor.

He relented and asked her to wait for him after his evening vesper service. She decided to come in 15 minutes before the service was done so she didn’t have to wait long and could hear what the friar has to say in her predicament. She was sitting on the chair opposite a heavy wooden desk when she noticed something familiar out of the corner of her eye. She went to the object across the room hidden behind a weighty drawer.

As she retrieve the object, it was revealed the cloth was part of a garment. A wardrobe. An Ottoman wardrobe! She dropped the garment just in time for Friar Andre to come in.

It was you! She started hitting him with all her might and anger. She felt so hurt and betrayed she couldn’t scream or speak. Just when he was about to subdue her, she grab hold of an iron poker and knocked him off. She ran from the room and into the night reaching the graveyard on the far end of the monastery. She cursed the full moon in rage and grief. Blood started trickling down her thighs, realizing what was happening she screamed in pain and anguish. Many a late night watcher would have sworn it might have been a banshee on the prowl for it’s next victim.

A shadow came out from behind a tombstone festooned by a life sized angel. What’s the matter child? The shadow spoke in an unholy tone that reverberated through her soul. Out of her mind, she froze as the shadow approached her and introduced himself.

“My name is Pietro.”He was pale, with glowing red eyes and impossibly shiny white teeth. “Has some injustice been done to you? Am I right? “She nodded. “Ah but you don’t deserve this. If you want them punished, say yes to me and I will aid you in your quest. “ In her fury she yielded to the man-or creature without comprehension. The last thing she saw was fangs coming at her.

The next night she had a terrible headache but she seemed to be in a dream, or is this a nightmare? In her vision she visited the friar’s sleeping quarters. The demon sound asleep doesn’t deserve peace, she thought. She drew his blankets down thru what seemed like telekinesis. He shifted in his sleep and sleepily opened his eyes to a horrific sight. Before he can scream, his throat was slashed and blood curled out as he gurgled wordless mumbles before she watched the life leave his eyes. In her dream, she backed away floating and it all went dark.

The next night Pietro was by her side. She told him of her dream and said she felt emboldened. Only it wasn’t a dream, Pietro said. Her hate enacted her revenge. Knowing now what he was, he asked her why did she not consume the friar’s blood. She said he was not worth her first taste.

For centuries she vowed to show how corrupt the world is to those who have hope. She swore she would break men she felt were self righteous in their beliefs. Her 47th apprentice was an American priest named Lukas Zabek.

Character Facts:

* Personality: distant, cold, calculating, hedonistic, sadistic, unfeeling.

* Anya selects her apprentice very carefully and distinguishes a possible pupil from prey. She preys on pretty young women as their blood are sweeter.

* Ironically, she fears infants especially males. Male infant cries make her ears bleed. This must have something to do with the loss of her child. Somehow, she knew it to be male.

* Her easiest victims errr apprentices are Catholic and Orthodox priests. Evangelicals, not so much. She failed to persuade the evangelist John Bunyan.

* She was partly responsible for The Great Hunt which reached its feverish pitch around 1643. After witnessing the burning of many women. She vowed to hunt down generations of Puritans responsible for the purge.

Just Little Malkavian Things ~

Malkavians these days can do nothing but de-conceptualize, Dement, eat hot chip, and lie.

Since people seemed to enjoy the #JustLittleVentrueThings VTMB adventure, here's a matching Malkavian one. Though I'm gonna be real with ya here, I had less fun D:

I finally figured out why I have such trouble wrapping my head around depictions of Malkavians in VTM media. Books, Storytellers, and fans say it's like having a mental illness and being linked to a massive group chat. But, listen, I've lived around and with mental illness all my life. I've been in massive group chats. Being Malkavian ain't like that.

It IS like being an early-twenties English major in the midst of an existential crisis, over-worked and cross-faded outta your skull and watching horror movies to Cope(TM)

So it's like drugs. It's like you had too much weed and too much wine and are let loose on Los Angeles. Which. My friends and I have and we, coincidentally, also "fought" a stop sign. The Malkavian PC never really seemed like a character to me: she's like a collection of cliches and dude-bros doing blunts while watching slasher movies. I named her Liotta after the Psychic Shop owner, and I'm sad Liotta didn't really get to be a person.

I wasn't surprised by any of the dialog. It's a pattern. Alliteration, allusion, animal joke. Alliteration, allusion, animal joke. It lost its charm.

Often, I didn't know what the FUCK I was saying. Which is the Malkavian Experience(TM), according to Rosa.

Nonsense time

Most characters have an extra paragraph of dialog to Acknowledge That You Are A Malkavian. Some get an extra conversation branch. For example, there's lots of new Bertie dialog and he was all impressed Liotta knows about Gehenna and Thin-bloods <3. The Anarchs characters, especially Skelter, get a lot more. Skelter, Ash, and Liotta totally vibe.

If you sneak around the Santa Monica drug house, they talk about Mercurio?? Hello?? Mercurio, you bent Masquerade by not getting beat up real good.

Zero pretense about Voerman. Yes, I have DID; yes, I am making it your problem.

When Liotta talked to Beckett, he said the DID was "something to look forward to." Goddamnit, Beckett. That's not how the Bane or mental illness works! >:-(

I've never sneaked before!!! Did you know that the Tong AND the American gang downtown have fakes in their suitcases??? Like, Full On, "it's just stuffed with newspapers, brah." They were going to kill each other over newspapers. For some reason the Tong brought the REAL suitcase along too, but I'm so past having VTM make any sort of sense. It's fine.

Accidentally pissed off Nines. I meant farmer (affectionate) and Nines thought I meant farmer (derogatory). :(

The Dementation powers are (a) pretty purple loop-de-loops, (b) not as effective as Dominate (reaaaallyyy missed a good AOE attack), and (c) oddly enough, gave more compassionate dialog choices. I mean. In the pen-and-paper version, Dementation isn't conflict-focused, so the devs had to jigger it to use as attacks. But I was touched when Liotta made Hannah believe she was Paul, so Hannah got to say goodbye. Making Samantha believe Liotta was a pet turtle was funny and spared her the pain of her friend vanishing a second time. Heather thinks her entire experience was a dream and returns to her life, more or less unscathed.

Boris?? Asked Liotta to kill Venus for him???? DUDE, WHAT. I didn't know he could counter-offer!! What happens if you take up his offer? Who controls Confession? Does it close down??

Pro Tip: don't trust the pale woman in a cowboy stripper outfit who comes out of your vent and tells you everything's fine.

I went through an ENTIRE Ventrue playthrough without puking and Liotta ate one (1) unhoused person and blew chunks. I didn't realize Diseased Blood was a threat. What happens if you skip the Plague-bearer quest? Should you just never chomp on the Downtown unhoused community?

Strauss called Liotta "young one" and I was like, sir. You're not Beckett, you can't trick me.

A rat dances in the Downtown sewers and tells Liotta that the grass is greener in someone else's asshole.

And also will take you places.

Do you know what it's like for a Capri Sun to suddenly start speaking and offer taxi services.

Liotta told Beckett that Kindred are a joke and I got extra EXP for being so sneaky.

DMP produced snuff films even before Andrei???!!!! I thought all the blood was from the lil geo-dudes.

Liotta agreed with Andrei that Caine is here and boot-scooting around in his lil Angst Mobile. :D

As bad as Liotta was in group fights, she repeatedly made bosses cower and stand quietly while she beat them to death. Andrei had a full on lay-on-the-floor temper tantrum in his war form and Liotta just. Smacked him until he exploded. She didn't even take damage!

IDK why I never asked this before, but, um, who does Mitnick share the bunk bed with? Barabus..?

I went back to the Empire Hotel Penthouse suite to fetch the educational book and the Russian mob dudes were still there?? Hello, sirs, your leader is dead. You can leave now.

Liotta heard the real thoughts of the Red Dragon hostess...and also some debate about the Dark Father's presence in LA, heehee.

I thought it was fun that one of the "take me away, Cabbie!" taxi replies mentioned riding in a car like father and child. :D

"Why is the Mandarin giggling at me" is a sentence that came out of my face.

With the different dialog options, sometimes it's impossible to be polite to NPCs. For example: Liotta could only call VV "dolly/doll/toy doll" instead of her preferred names; the Chinatown gun seller felt frightened, thinking we were Police or Immigration.

Some great fourth wall breaks in the dialog: "I don't want to get involved either, but tell that to whoever is playing me!" to Beckett after the Giovanni Mansion.

"You can't spell success without whatever the hell my name is."

"If I cannot win with effort, I will cheat my way to victory. I am gone." Funnily enough, this was my first run where I didn't hack in to boost stats.

"I just want it to end. I feel like I've been playing forever."

Some nice wider lore references: "I devour knowledge like the great worm devours the corpse of society" could refer to how Salout, in tapeworm form, is devouring Tremere's body and destabilizing the Clan and/or Kindred night society.

"They should have a channel devoted to you in my head" to Beckett. In his Diary, Beckett witnesses Malkavians devouring Malkav and may or may not join the Cobweb (PS check out this great fanfic where he does).

This made me stare into space for a minute and question my life choices. During the Sabbat massacre, Liotta didn't snack on any of the blood doll ghouls (ya know, the ones with the eyes gouged out). She had such high Inspection + Finance that she had $4k in her wallet and could buy blood. I wanted to test a rumor that if you don't feed on the blood dolls, you get extra EXP. You do. BUT anywAY, right before the Tremere miniboss, Liotta was sword-fighting some goons and the blood doll...attacked him for her? Like. He moved on his own. When the goon was dead, the blood doll asked if Liotta was all right. This might have been a glitch but...the horrific implications that those men are still conscious, still willful, still feeling. ACK. I hope they got out the next morning.

RIP Ming Xiao. Flamethrower right to the tiddies.

I stole @ryttu3k's idea and noclipped through the werewolf section. Liotta still killed the Garou, but I didn't want the stress.

{On Robin Regaining Their Memories}

     Despite what is widely accepted throughout the fandom, Robin’s amnesia is something that can be reversed-- or, at the very least, it is possible for them to form memories about their past. There are two major ways, supported by canon, that will be explored-- one with its roots from fe4, and another from Awakening itself.

Grima’s Truth

     Since Awakening, fell blood has been recognised as being akin to that of the holy blood existing in Genealogy of the Holy War’s lore-- in fact, the two continents of those games are canonically connected to one another, with Awakening taking place thousands of years after the latter. With this information, it would not be too far-fetched to say that Grima’s Truth, the tome that Validar wields in-game, is the ‘holy weapon’ tied to fell blood, albeit working slightly differently in regards to how much blood is needed to wield the tome in the first place, seeing as though someone who, presumably, has minor fell blood can use it. It being a ‘holy weapon’ can be supported by how similar its animation is to the Book of Naga, and the fact that Forneus’ story implies a blood bond, of sorts, taking place.

     Regardless, since the weapon is tied to the blood of a dragon like the holy weapons in the Jugdral games, the extra powers behind them can apply to Grima’s Truth, and that is where the idea of Robin regaining their memories becomes a possibility, and an extremely plausible one at that. During the events of fe4, there is a scene where Brigid-- a girl with no memories of her childhood, but with major Ulir blood-- is presented with and comes into contact with her bloodline’s holy weapon, Yewfelle. Upon touching it, the memories that she lost came back to her, and she is suddenly able to recollect everything about her past.

(NOTE: this is from the accepted translation of the game. Only Briggid and Ichival have been changed to their official names, Brigid and Yewfelle, just to make it easier to follow.)

Adean: “Hey, you’re… Yes, I knew it! Brigid! I’m your sister, Adean! Please, try to remember!”

Brigid: “How come you know my name? …Wow, you look just like me. …Adean, you say? Actually does sound kinda familiar…”

Adean: “Yes! I’m your twin sister! You were taken by pirates when you were just 5 years old! I’ve been looking for you for such a long time.”

Brigid: “I don’t know. You’re going to have to prove this to me somehow.”

Adean: “Okay. Take this bow. Then draw.”

Brigid: “Hm? Wow! Now that’s a nice bow! Just draw it, right? Whoa! W, what is going on! Some strange power is bubbling up inside me. I… I have some recollection… Ah… my heart is burning… Adean. Your are my sister, Adean!”

Adean: “Wonderful! You remember! That bow is the holy Yewfelle… It’s been handed down through our family for generations. It is said that only one direct descendant of a crusader is able to handle their divine weapon. And in our family, that appears to be you! Now is that enough proof for you?”

Brigid: “Adean… Let me see your face. How’s our father? And our brother… Andrei?”

     This implies that holy weapons are able to restore the memory of at least those with a sufficient amount of the blood it is tied to. Thus, this should carry over to Robin and Grima’s Truth, as the brand on their hand is indicative of major fell blood, and the tome is their bloodline’s corresponding weapon. Aside form this, both cases of amnesia were caused, for the lack of a better word, naturally-- Brigid’s through trauma via being kidnapped, and Robin’s through trauma via Grima’s failed attempt at possessing them.      So, upon holding Grima’s Truth, Robin will regain all of their memories. This is the most likely and plausible way for Robin’s amnesia to be reversed.

     In the case of m!Morgan in heroes, for those who wish to use that as a way of countering this, never has it ever been stated that either of the Morgans harbour the brand of the defile, or are suitable hosts for Grima-- those ideas are headcanons not supported by anything other than them being Robin’s progeny. As seen in Jugdral, however, and in the exploration of the inheritance of holy blood, the offspring of one with major blood will not necessarily inherit the same amount, sometimes being minor, or having none at all, and this would be the case for both Morgans. Likely, they have minor fell blood, allowing them to wield Grima’s Truth, at the very least.      Besides, in Awakening, it was shown that their memories will come back to them over time.

Dark Magic

     In the Art of Awakening, there is a section on dark magic that briefly describes the sorts of ‘neutral’ techniques for that magic, and what they cna be used for.

     Namely, the section says that there are hexes that are able to make someone else relive time. While there is no further information on the technique itself, this would serve as a means for Robin to go back into their past, and witness everything. Any question they want answered, they can go back and find that. Granted, it does not restore their memories, but instead allows them to build new memories from their experiences from that time, but it serves as a means of discovering their past all the same.

Tasarım, sanat, bilişim, fen, mühendislik ve iletişim alanlarında yurt içi ve yurt dışından alanında yetkin birçok ismin yer aldığı sempozyum, Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Konferans Salonunda yapılan açılış programıyla başlarken, Bulancak Belediyesi Mehteran Takımının açılışta yaptığı mehter gösterisi davetlilerin beğenisini topladı. Sempozyumun hazırlık sürecini anlatan kısa film gösterimi ile devam eden programın açılış konuşmasını ise Teknik Bilimler MYO Müdürü Doç. Dr. Aysun Türkmen yaptı. Salonu dolduran davetlilere katılımları için teşekkür eden ve sempozyumun verimli geçmesi temennisinde bulunan Sayın Türkmen’in ardından, Rektörümüz Prof. Dr. Cevdet Coşkun kürsüye çıktı. Brain: What if Nines knew the fledgling before and LaCroix had them Embraced to mess with him.

Brain: We should replay Bloodlines

What where the VTM Signature Characters' fates in your San Andreas Chronicles? I really enjoyed the alternative path Mithras and Roger de Camden took and wondered what weird stuff you cooked up for the other canon characters.

Aw, I’m glad you enjoyed the story! I’m sorry Jan didn’t have a better time. 😬Our DM, Mike, is the one responsible for 99% of the character backstory, so I’ll make sure to pass along the compliment to him. 😊 

There are so many characters in San Andreas Nights and they’re usually a reference to something. Off the top of my head, there’s Divia, Lucien Lacroix, Jeannette duCharme, Stonetree, and Nick Knight from Forever Knight; Karsh, Beckett, Bertram, Jan, Hardestadt, Hobbes, Strauss, Smiling Jack, Mama Lion, Genina, Lodin, Villon, Luthor the Green, Andrei the Defiler, Jeremy McNeil, and Don Sebastian from regular Vampire: the Masquerade; Mr. Trick from Buffy the Vampire Slayer; the entire office from Brooklyn 99; Dr. Carter from Lovecraft’s stories; and everyone from What We Do in the Shadows.

For like the actual signature characters, we’ve encountered surprisingly few. Maybe because Mike is tired of us killing his favorites.... During a Star Wars game I got R2D2 killed and his favorite Rebel squadron. Whoops...

Let’s see. Victoria Ash lives in Los Angeles with us at the moment. She’s the Toreador Primogen and has done surprisingly little besides stick her nose into meetings. After the fall of Atlanta, she fled to Chicago. There she met Don Enzo, who was there helping Lodin negotiate with the Anarchs and Sabbat, and bribed her way into LA’s Toreador Primogen seat. She used to have an annoyingly loud dog that would bark all the time, until she traded a boon with Nathan to remove the dog’s voicebox. She accidentally insulted Nathan afterwards, so now Nathan hates her and she’s on his list of people he’d like to murder. Cassandra hates her because of what she did to Beckett.

Vykos popped up during the Battle for the End of Time, which Mike dramatized here and here. That’s the adventure for the Eye of Hazimel. The short version is Beckett finds out that Netchurch and a group of Nazis seek the Eye. Anatole directs him to the Bonpensieros, whose ancestor previously picked up information about the Eye’s location. Vykos finds out about this, and shows up with a frickton of Sabbat. They scared the pants off us, and we narrowly escaped blows. Mike later admitted that if we had egged Vykos into a fight, he would have killed one character per turn.

So that was a lot less exciting than I thought it would be, but yeah! This game is crowded, my dude.
