Ghost of Tsushima successor Ghost of Yotei announced for PS5 - Gematsu

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Sucker Punch Productions have announced Ghost of Yotei for PlayStation 5. It will launch in 2025.

Get the first details below, via Sucker Punch communications manager Andrew Goldfarb.

When we set out to make a new Ghost game, we wanted to maintain the core pillars established in Ghost of Tsushima: playing as a wandering warrior in Feudal Japan, offering freedom to explore at your own pace, and highlighting the beauty of the world. We also wanted to continue to innovate. To create something fresh but familiar, we looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima, and shifted our focus to the idea of the Ghost instead. At Sucker Punch we love origin stories, and we wanted to explore what it could mean to have a new hero wearing a Ghost mask, and uncovering a new legend. This led us to Ghost of Yotei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore. While we aren’t diving into story specifics yet today, we can reveal that Atsu’s journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yotei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It’s a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima, and it’s the setting for an original story we can’t wait to tell. This is also Sucker Punch’s first game built from the ground up for PlayStation 5, and we’re excited to build on the visual foundation we established in Ghost of Tsushima by making the world feel even more real. We have massive sightlines that let you look far across the environment, whole new skies featuring twinkling stars and auroras, even more believable movement from wind on grass and vegetation, and more improvements we’ll share in the future. Our new setting also gives us the opportunity to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons. Our trailer today offers a glimpse into this world, but there’s so much more to show, and we’ll have much more to share in the months ahead, including details about Atsu’s journey and the people (and animals) she’ll meet along the way. We are forever grateful for the success of Ghost of Tsushima, and we can’t wait for you all to experience Ghost of Yōtei in 2025.

Fantastic capture of this incredibly immersive and beautiful production. there is a bar in the bottom right corner of the screen that doesn't take away except for one moment where Gandalf and Frodo are talking on the stairs in act one, but overall I worked around it and you can always see Frodo and sometimes Gandalf. At points people are in the audience and I wasn't able to capture them but you can always hear them and I do my best to always try to make sure to capture anything in the audience that I could. Some washout and shakiness throughout.

Beautiful Capture of Abe, Larkin and Haley's last performance with the company. My camera was having a lot of issues for Act 1, 2 minutes is missing during ready set (still has audio), And then after every song there's a short 2 second blackout. Act 2 is perfect with no issues with my camera. Also the last US stop before a month break and then Mexico! Some washout and shakiness throughout.

Ghost of Yōtei é uma história de vingança

Cheia de fúria e determinação, Atsu caçará os responsáveis pela morte de sua família e buscará vingança

Um pequeno detalhe da história de Ghost of Yōtei foi revelado, casualmente, na descrição do site oficial do jogo. Sem muito alarde, a página do novo game da Sucker Punch indica que teremos em uma jornada de vingança.

Em Ghost of Yōtei, seguiremos a jornada de Atsu, que acontece em 1603, mais de 300 anos após os eventos de Ghost of Tsushima. A história se passa nas terras ao redor do Monte Yōtei, o pico imponente no coração de Ezo, uma área do Japão conhecida como Hokkaido nos dias de hoje. Em 1603, ela estava fora do domínio do Japão e era repleta de vastas pradarias, tundras nevadas e perigos inesperados.

Mas disso você sabe – ou deveria saber se estivesse acompanhando um pouco mais sobre o jogo.

A novidade vem deste trecho aqui:

Cheia de fúria e determinação, Atsu caçará os responsáveis pela morte de sua família e buscará vingança. Cada trabalho e recompensa fornecerá as moedas necessárias para sua jornada. Mas como ela luta, sobrevive e molda a lenda do Fantasma dependerá de você.

Ou seja, ao que tudo indica, parece que a história de Atsu vai ser bem parecida com o que vivemos com Naoe em Assassin’s Creed Shadows recentemente – e até mesmo com o próprio Ghost of Tsushima, cuja história acaba girando em torno de Jin Sakai tentando se vingar da invasão mongol na sua ilha.

Ou seja, aparentemente, como a vingança é um prato que se come frio, deve ser um sashimi.

Lançamento de Ghost of Yōtei segue neste ano

Mesmo sem novidades há meses, Ghost of Yōtei continua programado para este ano. O gestor de comunicações da Sucker Punch, Andrew Goldfarb, reforçou a previsão ao divulgar uma vaga para especialista em suporte e comunidade, destacando que o estúdio ainda trabalha com esse cronograma.

I talked to Andrew Goldfarb, who is a writer, artist, & musician. His one man band The Slow Poisoner is something I would describe as Voodoo Rockabilly. I saw him live at BizarroCon & it was like a hypnotic spell. From then forward I was convinced he was a snake charmer with music. He also sold me a magic potion that was labelled ‘Health Tonic’ which I bought & asked him what was in it. He told me it was a mystery. I drank it anyway & it actually cured my severe last day of BizarroCon hangover. On this episode we talked about all things grotesque, surreal, profound & hilarious. I had a fabulous time. so back in December i posted about naming my other Emotional Support Demon stuffed animals.
