Long read, but insightful AF, thought-provoking, accurate AF

Pretty much explains why I have very few apps on my cell, why I do not use FB and am leaving IG, why I use DockDuckGo for my search engine (sometimes Bing, rarely Google) and use their browser for most stuff, and often use Incognito window.

As someone who works in tech, I soooo agree with him.

And BTW, I do not have Tumblr on my phone. I recall when the iPad was first announced, my Apple fan colleagues were all gathered to hear the latest product announcements and they got so excited about getting their hands on an iPad that their palms started to itch. They also got royally pissed at me because I was indifferent/critical of it. I explained that, as someone who creates digital content, I did not see the advantage of having a tablet, which to me seemed to ba about consumption. I agreed that that tablets like the iPad could be useful for some things, but for me, not so much.

Well, to this day, I still feel that way, even though I've had both Apple and Androidn tablets for work and also used a Surface for a whie, as well as a Surface book, which had a detachable screen. Rarely detached anything, though I did like the Book's build and feel.

And for me, cell phones are tools for useful stuff, like reserving and unlocking a Zipcar or having my Delta boarding pass. THough about the boarding pass, I also always print up a paper ticket at the airport, because a couple of times the app did not work.

And why no Tumblr app on my phone? I like to see all y'all's gorgeous photos and videos big and bold, on my laptop. And running Lux Lit, doing the searching and reblogging is just easier on a larger device where I can see what the fuck i'm doing.

“Well...I think about things like that all the time, Adrian...but you can’t exactly change the past.” Henry looked to his friend for a moment with an almost somber sort of smile. 

“I remember...when I first lost the one person who meant the world to me...I almost always thought to myself...what if I’d done something? What if I hadn’t been so scared, or afraid? But the thing is though, Adrian is that he wouldn’t want me thinking like that. He’d want me to find the strength in myself to move on for him and to live for him. It’s been nearly thirteen years now since I’ve lost him...but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about him, and how much I did love him, and still do to this day, So...when it comes down to thinking about what happened in your past...think about what she’d want you to do, and what she’d want for your life...”

He hoped this advice for suffice, for it was the best he could give. Thinking about the past always left him a little misty-eyed, but it was good to think about it sometimes.

Harper nodded, having been similarly called in as well. She hadn’t bothered with make-up, her light brown hair tied up in a messy bun. “…yeah. Makes me regret dinner tonight, if I’m honest.” The detective crosses her arms with a sigh, her eyes analyzing the scene before them.

It seemed to match a string of crimes she’d been assigned to, which is why she had been called in. Thirium being a major component of Red Ice, black market manufacturers would pay good money to get their hands on large quantities of it. Some would arrange back-alley, sometimes blackmail-driven deals with employees of Cyberlife, but there was another way to illegally acquire thirium and it required a lot less social finesse. Androids were walking around filled with the stuff, programmed to be unable to protect themselves. They were often abducted from the street, taken to some abandoned building and drained of thirium.

This operation was the biggest one she had seen yet: an abandoned warehouse. The shelves were stocked with blue blood in mixed-matched containers ranging from mason jars to glass soda bottles. Lifeless bodies of androids were scattered about the place, most half-dismantled, being sold for parts. And the worst part? Under the law, this will be considered nothing more than theft, black market dealing, trespassing, and property damage–not what it truly was: murder.

Her expression is grim, “This is fucking sick.” She notes the obvious.

Blue hungrily stared at the fish, his stomach rumbling at the mere sight of food. But it wasn't one if his feeding times....Would it really be alright to take it..? The break of his ever-consistent routine made him anxious.

Ultimately, his hunger won over and his hand warily reached for one of the fish. He quickly took a bite, as if afraid it might be taken from him if he didn't eat it quickly enough. He grabbed the rest and promptly swam down to the bottom of his tank, hiding behind one if the decorative rocks -so that she couldn't take them back even if she wanted to.

He stayed hidden for a while after eating, but he eventually became curious. Who was the stranger and why did she feed him?

His inquisitiveness got the better of him and he peered up at her from behind the rock, watching as she cleaned the tank. She was wearing the same uniform his trainers do...cautiously, he swam back up to get a better look.

He winced at her touch, even the slightest sensation making his pain processors go haywire. “No....no....nonono..!” His master had found him. Zlatko would never let his precious toy get away. He would take him back and hurt him more--he should know he’d never be free of the pain. He didn't get to live, not really. He began to sob, dismaying at this reality. Maybe it was better that he just shut down: at least then, the pain would be gone. The Android’s LED, a constant red, began to circle as she did her scan. He barely registered it.

The android trembled helplessly at her touch on his shoulder. He was so afraid; he didn't want to return to his master. ”Pl-...please don't make me go back..., ” he managed through his sobs. ”H-help..? No-...no, no one ever helps...no no no.”

Chrissy had walked across town to the, now very full, android landfill. It had been a few days since the Revolution. She had survived as had her friends. Markus was working on finalizing their rights since that night. And now she and her fellow android didn’t have to be afraid to be attacked in the street any more. So, she volunteered for a salvage run. The empty backpack hung loosely on her shoulders as she stopped at the edge of the landfill. Chrissy took a deep breath, before she slowly made her way down the slight incline.

When she reached the bottom, she paused and scanned over the area. Chrissy didn’t see anything right away, so she got started looking for parts. She had a list of what she need in her memory. And in a hour and a half, she had almost everything she needed. She turned a corner and froze as she found an Android, clearly alive, and just sitting in the landfill.

She contemplated turning and running away for only a moment. Chrissy looked back at the Android. What if he needed help? She slung her backpack over her shoulder and slowly walked towards the Android.

“Hello?” she called. “Are you okay? Do you need help?”

Henry was thinking straight, pupils still dilated, to the point in which the color in his eyes could barely be seen. He let out a low growl, baring his teeth at Dan, the usual white now stained red. "Go away..." He managed, voice lowered a octave as it came out in a raspy growl. His fins were flared, twitching at the sides of his head

The only thing way was holding him back was his inability to be mobile on land, otherwise he would have probably made an attempt at attacking Dan once more. Half heartedly, he swatted at him, reaching for him with claws that could pierce skin. They scraped against the ground as he brought his hand back.

As one of the main attractions in the local aquarium, Henry was often stared at by humans, and androids alike. Children mainly were interested in him, due to how different he looked. A long green tail with shining scales, and fins located on his forearms, and where a human’s ears might be. Most of the time he could be found sitting on a rock in the center of the tank…he couldn’t really move around too much due to past injuries. This could be seen from the scarring all across his body.

The owners of the aquarium always stated that he’d been found during his adolescence after he’d been injured in a boating accident, and wouldn’t be able to returned to the sea due to his injuries…but that was only half true. Yes, he was taken in by the aquarium when he was fairly young…but not for a boating accident. They’d taken him from his family…and hurt him to where he couldn’t swim for long periods of time, leaving him vulnerable to any predators. This was why they kept him…he needed them to survive, whether he liked it or not.

Putting on a false smile, he waved at some humans that walked by, getting a wave back from a few of them and a some pictures taken of him.

Harper had become something of a workaholic; she buried herself in her work in order to avoid the emptiness she felt inside. Readjusting to her new life as ‘Harper Reign’ the cyborg wasn’t exactly an easy task. The person she was before...-Well, she couldn’t bear to think of the happier times anymore. And for that reason, the hectic line of detective work was a perfect vice. When she wasn’t focused on her cases, she’d find something else to keep her busy. And this would all be fine if she actually took care of herself all the while. But, frankly, she didn’t in the slightest. She’d often opt for coffee rather than sleep and a proper meal. It’s a wonder she didn’t pass out on the job sometimes.

Cyberlife caught on to her new, self-destructive tendencies and insisted she acquire a caretaker android -if she didn’t do it herself, they’d send her one anyway. With reluctance, she decided it’d be better for her to chose than for Cyberlife to do it for her.

She stepped into the store, glancing around at the androids on display. It made her a little sick to think of them as property. She’d learned of deviancy and knew they were so much more. The detective made her way over to the household androids, quickly being approached by a salesman -turning her attention to the latest model. But her eyes fell on one android in particular, one listed an AR300. The detective’s observant eyes fell upon the serial number printed on Android’s uniform: #392-734-499.

“This one will be fine.” She cut the salesman off midsentence (he’d been rambling on about a financing plan and some other jibberish to get her to buy something out of her price range).

Send 🐬 for an AU where my muse is a mermaid/man being kept in an aquarium

**Continuing from the same backstory/description I wrote in THIS ask.**

Perhaps Blue’s favorite time of the day was when the aquarium was closed. Though exhausted from a days-worth of performances, he never went to sleep right away. Nighttime meant no humans to gawk at him and to make him uneasy.

Once all the visitors had gone home, he swam to the upper level of his tank, emerging from the water and laying back, allowing his upper-half to float just above the surface whilst his tail remained submerged. Blue stared up at the metal ceiling of the aquarium before closing his eyes, allowing himself to unwind a little. 

He began softly singing to himself; he didn’t get to use his voice very often, but when he did it was soft and deep -almost enchanting. Sometimes the humans that cleaned his tank liked to play the radio while they worked and he’d picked up a few songs he liked from that. He really liked the slower songs, he found. 

His song came to an abrupt halt, however, as he sensed a presence looming by the tank’s edge. Blue immediately retreated below the water’s surface, his dark brown eyes staring up at the stranger wearily.
