24:legacy finale!
I have SO MANY thoughts, and I am happy to share them with you. And before we get into the OG 24 rewatch, which I am honest-to-god super excited about, what’d you think of the finale?
No spoilers, but what’d you think of the silent clock? Or Eric’s future? Or Andy’s limp? I want to talk about ALL of it.
After the Homeland finale, I think we need a little levity.

Note
Back in the day after the shower scene there were lot of comments all over the net assuming Quinn and Adal have (had) a relationship. The "You are my man, Peter" is was very obvious for lot of people who decided to make it canon. I remember articles in gay webs (popped in my inbox via Google Alerts) celebrating there are a powerful CIA gay man and a hot CIA guy in a successful TV-series. But Gansa ruined everything turning Adal in a pedophile.
Anonymous #2: .... the Quinn+Adal canon in 15 Oct 2014 ... twitter*com/feminismkg/status/522376344701640704
This is a tough one. I didn’t get involved with Homeland until after season four, so if there was discussion in this vein, I missed it. Those scenes always felt very uncomfortable to me, but not necessarily because of any sexual tension — I dunno. I wasn’t looking for it, so I didn’t see it, and it never even occurred to me that there might be more to their relationship. In retrospect, that feels stupid on my part.
A consensual relationship between this hot CIA assassin and this powerful mentor character would absolutely have been interesting and totally something to celebrate. There is so not enough of that in media today.
The revelations of season six and, I daresay, 5.12, ruined that. This show has a disappointing and irresponsible habit of coming right to the edge of hard topics and then retreating. They could easily have revealed a consensual relationship between Quinn and Dar in “A False Glimmer,” but instead they chose to hint at predation.
And then they fucked that up, too.
For what it’s worth, the  new series of 24 this year actually featured a gay main character in Andy Shalowitz (a CTU analyst) and his relationship with a CTU agent, Thomas Locke.
So that’s, what? Four years since Dar Adal first walked in on a towel-clad Quinn? And that’s flipping network TV.
Meanwhile, Homeland continues to do wrong by everybody.

24: Legacy || Eric Carter
Tumblr media
Name: Eric Carter
Age:
Relationship: Married to Nicole Carter (verse depending) Exclusive ship
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Job:
Faceclaims: Corey Hawkins
Eric Carter (born March 18, 1987), officially living under the witness protection name Cooper, was a decorated former United States Army Ranger squad leader who led a team sent to Yemen to capture the terrorist Ibrahim Bin-Khalid.
Six months later, while trying to readjust to civilian life under a new identity, Eric and his wife Nicole were attacked in their home by followers of Bin-Khalid, who were searching for a strongbox his teammate had stolen from the compound the night of the raid. With his family's safety compromised, Carter was forced to seek help from ex-CTU director Rebecca Ingram to investigate the matter. Carter soon became involved in CTU's effort to locate Bin-Khalid's son and stop his plot to set off sleeper cell attacks throughout the United States. After the plot was successfully foiled, Carter planned to join CTU as a new recruit.
During his childhood, Carter and his older brother Isaac, had a rough time. When he was only twelve years old, they both started "running the streets", got involved with drugs and guns.
At some point, Eric also started a relationship with Nicole, who at the time was dating Isaac. This caused a rift resulting in the brothers distancing from each other. Eric eventually married Nicole.
In April 2011, Carter enlisted in the Army at the recruitment center in Washington, D.C. and completed his basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. During 2012, he was deployed twice to Afghanistan, while also reaching the rank of Sergeant. During his time in the Army, he became friends with Ben Grimes.
In May 2013, he became a member of the United States Army Rangers after completing his training at Fort Benning in Georgia. After that, he was deployed multiple times as part of Department of Defense Joint Terrorism Task Force. During these missions, Carter also collaborated several times with CTU and its National Director Rebecca Ingram. At one point, he also met Andy Shalowitz while on a mission in Taiz.

24: Legacy Dated on Home Media
20th Century FOX has dated the revival of 24 on home release:
The clock ticks again with 24: Legacy, the next evolution of the Emmy Award-winning series 24, available now on Digital and arriving on DVD November 14th, from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
The 12 episode series chronicles an adrenaline-fueled race against time to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil – in the same real-time format that has propelled this genre-defining series.
Six months ago in Yemen, an elite squad of U.S. Army Rangers, led by Sergeant Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins), killed terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. In the aftermath, Bin-Khalid’s followers declared a threat against Carter, his squad and their families, forcing them into federal witness protection. But a recent attempt on Carter’s own life makes it clear to him that his team has been exposed.
To thwart further attacks, Carter enlists Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto), who directed the raid that killed Bin-Khalid; a brilliant and ambitious intelligence officer who has stepped down from her post as National Director of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) to support her husband, Senator John Donovan (Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award winner Jimmy Smits), in his campaign for President of the United States.
The series also stars Teddy Sears (The Flash, Masters of Sex) as Keith Mullins, head of CTU; Emmy Award winner Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life) as Andy Shalowitz, communications analyst at CTU; Anna Diop (Quantico, Greenleaf) as Nicole Carter, the wife of Eric Carter and nurse; Ashley Thomas (The Night Of, Black Mirror) as Eric’s older brother Isaac Carter;Charlie Hofheimer (Off Season, Mad Men) as Ben Grimes who suffers from PTSD after being in the army and Eric’s old comrade in arms; Coral Peña (Blue Bloods) as computer analyst Mariana Stiles; Emmy® Award winner Gerald McRaney (This Is Us, House of Cards, Deadwood) as Henry Donovan, a powerful man in the oil industry who is dedicated to helping his son John Donovan win the presidential election;Raphael Acloque (Burnt, The Danish Girl) as Jadalla Bin-Khalid who has continued his father’s jihadist campaign; and Sheila Vand (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Argo) as Nilaa Mizrani, campaign manager to presidential hopeful, John Donovan. Carlos Bernard (Hawaii Five-0, Castle) also guest stars in a recurring role, reprising his original series character, Tony Almeida.
24: Legacy is created by Manny Coto (24, 24: Live Another Day) and Evan Katz (24, 24: Live Another Day), based on the television series 24, created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran.

’24: Legacy’ cast on continuing the legacy
(CNN)Miranda Otto doesn’t want fans to think of her new series, “24: Legacy,” as a reboot.
“It’s not a reboot,” she said. “It’s a continuation and that’s the way we’ve felt about it. The premise of the show feels as current as ever.”
Otto stars as Rebecca Ingram, the former head of CTU who is married to John Donovan, a senator who is running for President, played by Jimmy Smits.
The first episode centers around former Army Ranger Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins) trying to survive being targeted for his squads role in the assassination of a major terrorist.
Some of the cast spoke with CNN about what it’s like to carry on the legacy of the Kiefer Sutherland series.
For one, things have changed a bit with the technology.
“It used to be uploading schematics to PDAs, now we’re uploading to people’s phones,” joked Dan Bucatinsky, who stars as CTU analyst Andy Shalowitz. “Mobile is everything.”
What has not changed is the action.
Carter is racing against the clock and along the way trying to save his friends and protect his wife, Nicole (Anna Diop).
There is also the complicated personal relationships the series has come to be known for.
As noble as Eric Carter’s character is, his brother Isaac is a criminal who bears a grudge against his younger brother for marrying Nicole whom Isaac was also involved with.
British actor Ashley Thomas portrays Issac and said he is prepared for the inevitable comparisons to another black, British actor who starred as a menacing character: Idris Elba as Stringer Bell on “The Wire.”
“Idris is my hero so for me, I see that as a compliment,” Thomas said. “I watched ‘The Wire’ religiously. My favorite shows are ‘The Wire,’ ’24’ and ‘Game of Thrones,’ so that’s phenomenal.”
Smits is a veteran of TV dramas. He said this new “24” builds on what fans have come to love.
“On a visual level this is a show that set the bar in the terms of the way we look at TV, things happening in real time and at the same time,” Smits said. “But story wise, this time you have characters that are very different and the dynamic is much different.”
“24: Legacy” premieres Sunday on Fox after the Super Bowl and will then run regularly on Monday nights.
