Woman's $3.99 Thrift Store Find Is a Priceless 2,000-Year-Old Mayan Vase
It’s the find of the millennium - well, two. It turned out to be much more. The vase dated back 2,000 years, and her
Anna Lee Dozier knack for second-hand shopping near her Washington, DC, home paid off big time. She was in a Maryland thrift store in 2019 and found a vase on the clearance rack for just $3.99.
“I saw this vase, and I assumed it was like a tourist reproduction,” Dozier told The Independent. “It did look old, but I was thinking a 20- or 30-year-old tourist reproduction.”
It turned out to be much more. The vase dates back two millennia. Her thrifty find was, in fact, priceless.
For five years after finding the vase on the clearance rack, Dozier kept the vase at home, she said, not thinking twice about it until she went on a trip Mexico’s Museum of Anthropology in January. There, Dozier said she saw vases that reminded her of her thrift store find, so she asked the staff what to do if she might have an artifact.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The museum staff told her to contact the US embassy.
“I came back to DC not thinking it could really be something, and I didn't want to bother the embassy, so I googled some professors who were experts on Mayan or Mexican history,” she told The Independent. When no one responded, Dozier reached out to the embassy, where staff asked her to send detailed pictures of the vase.
A month later, Dozier learned it was a ceremonial urn from the Mayan community dating anywhere from the year 200 to 800.
After learning she had thrifted a priceless, ancient artifact, Dozier was connected with the Cultural Institute of Mexico, where a ceremony was held Monday for the vase’s return. It will now make its way to Mexico’s Museum of Anthropology for analysis.
Dozier, who works as a human rights advocate for Mexico’s Indigenous communities, said she was glad to be a part of the vase’s journey home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Human rights extend to culture and history,” Dozier said at the event on Monday.
Dozier isn’t the first to accidentally stumble upon an ancient artifact.
In 2017, an Italian marble expert discovered a 2,000-year-old Roman mosaic was being used as a coffee table in a Manhattan apartment for the last 50 years.
The apartment owners thought nothing of it when they purchased the table from an Italian noble family in the 1960s, they said at the time. It has since been returned to the Italian government.

Media - ペルソナ2 ~罪が与えし罰~ 上巻 [Eng]
Tumblr media
Title: 罪が与えし罰 (Punishment given by Sin) Volume: 上巻 (First Volume) Written by: 南原 順 (Jun Nanbara) Illustrations by: 上田信舟 (Shinshu Ueda) Publisher: Square Enix/G-Fantasy Novels (Label) Summary: This novel focuses on Tatsuya, Maya and Ulala, Katsuya as well as Nanjo and their thoughts/actions prior to the events of Eternal Punishment. It helps link both the story of Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment together. Other characters are touched upon briefly, such as Anna Yoshizaka, Tatsuya Sudou and even Eikichi Mishina. This is the first part of two novels. The second novel can be found here
Google Drive link (Included in the folder are: The translation PDF, scans of the cover and the illustrations inside the novel in 600dpi resolution, and credit pages present in the novel) Personal Note: It took me quite some time to get this done, as I did it entirely by myself. So any error that may be found inside, please let me know! These novels are INCREDIBLY rare and stupid expensive (you might find them for over 30k yen sometimes, 12k for ONE if you're lucky). I lucked out last year and managed to obtain both for a rather cheap price (that if I mention it It'd give a heart attack to someone). At first, I wanted to wait until I could release both at the same time but it would take a lot of time, so I decided to release the first volume first (when I finish the second, I'll edit this post so both can be found together). I recently got a scanner (finally) so I can start scanning and translating all pieces of media that I own. I want to take a bit of a small break from translating big things like these and do some doujinshi scans for a little while www despite the scary count of the advertised pages (200+) the novel isn't actually that long. English isn't my first language, If you want to help in any way that'd be appreciated. If you find any typos etc please let me know. For now, I hope everyone can get to enjoy these unearthed 20+ year old novels for the first time ever.

In an extraordinary turn of events, Anna Lee Dozier of Washington, DC, made a remarkable discovery that has captivated historians and archaeologists alike.
Five years ago, while browsing the clearance rack of the 2A Thrift Store in Clinton, MD, Dozier stumbled upon a unique vase.
"It was neat looking and so I thought I'd take it home," she said.
Fast forward to January this year, when Dozier’s work took her to Mexico. A visit to the Museum of Anthropology left her astonished as she noticed artifacts strikingly similar to her thrift store vase. Intrigued, Dozier inquired about the process of repatriating potentially ancient items.
Upon returning to the U.S., she sent pictures and dimensions of the vase to experts. To her amazement, she discovered that her $3.99 purchase was not just an authentic Mexican artifact but a ceremonial urn belonging to the Indigenous Mayan people. Dating back between 200 and 800 AD, this vase is nearly two thousand years old and a priceless treasure.
Rather than profiting from her discovery, Dozier chose to return the vase to its rightful home. In a formal ceremony at the Cultural Institute of Mexico, she handed over the artifact to Mexican Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma Barragán.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The urn will now be placed in a museum in Mexico, where it will be preserved and appreciated as part of the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The Women's Prize for Non-Fiction 2024 Longlist is here!
Tumblr media
I'm sure that long time readers of my blog or followers of my Instagram will know that I have been following the Women's Prize for Fiction very closely for the last few years. I was really excited to discover that they were launching a sister prize celebrating non-fiction written by women (because it definitely tends to get lost in the very male-dominant sphere that is non-fiction). I am not a big non-fiction reader but as I get older, I have found myself becoming more interested in it. I think I'll always be a much bigger fiction reader but there are some genres within non-fiction that I am fascinated by, so it made sense for me to take a look at what the inaugural Women's Prize for Non-Fiction longlist had to offer.
The Women's Prize for Non-Fiction is open to non-fiction books written by women in English and published between 1st April 2023 and 31st March 2024. I believe it follows the same rules as the Fiction prize, in that books have to follow a narrative and that translated books are not eligible.
So, here are the 16 books on the first ever Women's Prize for Non-Fiction longlist!
Tumblr media

Vulture Capitalism: Corporate Crimes, Backdoor Bailouts and the Death of Freedom by Grace Blakeley. Published by Bloomsbury on 14th March 2024.
A Flat Place by Noreen Masud. Published by Hamish Hamilton on 27th April 2023.
Young Queens: Three Renaissance Women and the Price of Power by Leah Redmond Chang. Published by Bloomsbury on 11th May 2023.
So, there's the longlist. There is a good mixture in terms of theme and I'm sure a lot of people will be excited about that. I'm afraid that for me, I'm really not very interested in many of them. I have copies of Eve and Some People Need Killing, so I'll be reading them. I am also interested in Doppelganger and Wifedom but they're both very expensive in all formats at the moment, so I'll see if I can get library copies. However, almost all of the others just aren't speaking to me!
The shortlist will be announced on 27th March and the winner will be announced on 13th June, which is the same date as the winner of the Fiction Prize. So, I imagine the award ceremony will be a very big celebration of women's writing, which is always an exciting event.
What do you think of the longlist? Will you be reading any? Have you read any? Should I pick up any that I don't think I'm interested in? Let me know!

Chain of Iron reread random thoughts, up to chapter 14:
CC writes sibling dynamics like someone who's never grown up with a sibling.
On the subject, why do CC's books have so many, many, many older brothers with younger sisters that they treasure? It kind of makes the arguments about Jace and Clary in TMI feel a little... too understandable, let's just put it that way.
I hate Anna. She's such a privileged little jerk.
Cordelia is such a sweetie, she deserves all good things.
Maybe because I'm too aware in this reread that James's storyline is completely stealing from Order of the Phoenix, but now I can't help but draw connections between James's splitting headaches to Harry's scar hurting whenever danger's on the corner. It's just a complete copy/paste, I can't 😂
Why do people keep cracking jokes at a death site? It's okay if you don't use that one joke just yet, CC, you can save it for later when they're not a few feet away from the bloody corpse of someone they knew, no one will fault you.
Controversial opinion: Lucie's power, I'm just going to say it, is completely useless and pointless in CC's attempt to not offend anyone's sensibilities. The whole nature of her powers goes against the "moral lesson" so. Don't know what the power's there for at all, honestly.
We don't get a demon attack in this demon hunting story until almost 200 pages in. Say what you will about that.
Grace is about to set off the events of TDA, which I hated, so there's another reason not to love her.
I actually teared up this time around about Cordelia and Alastair's reaction to Elias's death, which before didn't mean anything to me. I don't know if that's the depression, or if I genuinely felt bad for them. Maybe the latter, I do love those characters after all.
Why does every single one of these characters know so much poetry by heart that they can quote it mid-conversation?
If we cut out all the historical facts that really bring nothing to the story, this book would be a lot shorter. I love big books, but when the scenes actually mean something, and not just are filled with background info that we really don't need and don't do anything for the overall plot.
I swear I'm enjoying this book, but as I reread it, I'm reminded why I decided to wait to borrow the last one from the library.

BREAKING— A FURIOUS KING MEAUX DISINVITES HIS SON THE CROWN PRINCE, TO THE OFFICIAL STATE DINNER!
Tumblr media
Dearest readers,
Many of my insider palace sources has confirmed this—His Majesty King Meaux and his Queen Consort, Pearl, hosted a celebratory state dinner for the King and Queen Of Willow Creek but disinvited his son and heir, HRH Crown Prince Marcus.
Word in the palace is, His majesty King Meaux was furious at his son, crown prince Marcus's lack of respect during the Willow Creek royals' visit to Windamere palace yesterday. There are many perks to being the spun of the ridiculously powerful and wealthy royals, but the downside? These powerful and wealthy elite parents expect nothing less from their offspring, and when it comes to royal protocols, it’s DO or be dismissed. A lesson I’m sure our crown prince thought he was exempt from.
Tumblr media
[ From left to right: His majesty King Meaux, Queen Pearl, Queen Anna, and King Valenti.]
Aside from the apparent absence of His royal highness, crown prince Marcus, all royal family members were in attendance at the state dinner in King Valenti and Queen Anna of Willow Creek’s honor. The King and Queen of Willow creek were met by our very own King and Queen of Oasis Springs in a private room before entering the grand dining hall together. And for this evening’s event, Queen Pearl wore the Nine Springs Tiara—a Tiara made specifically to honor the Nine Springs of Oasis Springs.
According to my sources, the monarchs, their Queen consorts, and 200 of their guests will enjoy an exquisite menu ten months in the planning and a table that took royal staff five days to set.
Below are more photos that were taken tonight at the celebratory State dinner in honor of King Valenti and Queen Anna of Willow Creek:

Chain of Thorns Book Review

Chain of Thorns Book Review by Cassandra Clare
I don’t know what to say about Chain of Thorns, the Last Hours trilogy, or Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter books that I haven’t already said. At this point, I’ve written a multitude of reviews for her books, ranging from the main series, spin-off trilogies, and side novels.
The Shadowhunter universe is now so huge and overwhelming that if I stop, I know I’ll never be able to catch up again (or want to, most likely). So I just keep…chugging along.
Chain of Thorns is the third installment of the sequel series to the prequel series (yes, you read that right) and is average on a banal level. I’ve said this for the previous two reviews of the first and second books of the Last Hours trilogy respectively, but this is Cassandra Clare’s worst trilogy by far.
I’m not going to review aspects of world building, history, background, or even explain very much because at this point, people reading this review have either kept up with Cassandra Clare’s books like I have, or are just reading this review out of curiosity and accepting that they won’t understand any of the details or intricacies I mention, seeing as this book is freaking number twenty in the overall series.
That being said, Chain of Thorns is a predictable ending to an already hackneyed series. The plot of this book is beyond boring. Belial, one of the princes of Hell, takes over London and makes it his own little slice of Edom on earth. This turns all the humans and downworlders into lifeless puppets. Why is he doing this you might ask? Just…cause.
I genuinely don’t know. Belial as a villain is atrocious. I get that he’s a demon, but he is comically evil. The way he speaks, his motivations, and his actions are so ridiculous and trite that I could hardly stomach reading scenes with him. Good thing the scenes with him were not until the last 200 pages of the book.
For a book that’s almost 800 pages, you might be wondering what the first 600 pages are about if they don’t contain Belial, the main adversary. The answer is: character relations. No, really, that’s it.
The first 600 pages contain Cassandra Clare’s millions of characters interacting, keeping secrets from each other, and generally making themselves miserable for lame, noble reasons that lack finesse or intrigue.
This character is in love with this character, this character is sad, this character feels guilty, this character feels shame, rinse and repeat. Normally, I’d say that Cassandra Clare’s main strengths are her characters and how she characterizes them.
However, in Chain of Thorns she spends soooooo much time fleshing out the main characters that the plot is squeezed lifeless. The same events are repeated over and over again so they can be seen from different perspectives, which makes the book a slog to get through, forgoing any kind of significant advancement story-wise.
Additionally, her characters aren’t interesting. All of the main characters in this series—Cordelia, James, Lucie, Jesse, Ari, Anna, Christopher, Grace, Thomas, Alistair, Matthew, and more, if you can believe it—have been done more thoughtfully in other installments Clare has written.
Take Christopher for example. I know almost nothing about him except that he’s the inventor-type guy. Clare has already written one of these with Henry from The Infernal Devices and was done better. Emma was a better Cordelia, Will was a better James, Cecily was a better Lucie, Jem was a better Matthew, and on and on it goes.
None, and I mean none of the characters from this series stood out in any new or notable way. Even the couples from this series are overshadowed by other couples in Clare’s universe. A large reason for this, in my opinion, is because everyone in this goddamn trilogy is too good.
They’re mind numbingly altruistic. Everyone is selfless, trusting, brave, kind, and inherently accepting. There’s no spice, no nuance, no complexity. The only tension this book has for the first 600 pages are the characters keeping secrets from each other.
Not because of some malicious reason, oh no, that would be too gripping, but instead because they don’t want to burden the others. Bleh.
The epic final fight, if you could call it that, lacked any emotional depth, was glaringly obvious in terms of how it would end, and no character of magnitude died, leaving this book without emotional weight or consequences.
Clare’s writing itself was fine, as usual, as was her world building, but she did have several scenes that seemed to go on and on forever without purpose or reason.
For example, there are several chapters describing Belial’s London and how horrific it is. We need one of these scenes to get the picture. Two, max, if Clare really wants to drive it home.
Clare has at least eight scenes describing this hellish London, which is really just the same descriptions repeated multiple times throughout way-too long chapters stretching out barely present and miniscule tension.
Overall, this is not Cassandra Clare’s best work. The plot and its villains had much to be desired. Her characters, usually her greatest strength, were carbon copies of other characters from her previous series who outshined these characters drastically.
The novel tried to present too many POV’s, which watered down every protagonist exponentially and their magnanimous personalities made it difficult for me as a reader to connect to them on any kind of human level.
Recommendation: You don’t need to read this trilogy. Unless you’re a hardcore Cassandra Clare fanatic, this series will offer you nothing that her previous series haven’t given you already. Steer clear unless you’re a completionist and have already spent way too much time reading the Shadowhunter series as a whole and feel obligated to continue.
Score: 5/10

1951 Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe first owned by Anna Magnani (actress) - Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, Italy front, longitudinal 60° V12 2562.51 cc 110 kW (150 hp) at 6500 rpm 200 km/h top speed One of the first stars to drive a Ferrari was Oscar-winning Italian actress Anna Magnani. In January 1951, she took delivery of a two-tone Ferrari 195 Inter, an evolution of the 166 with a longer wheelbase and an enlarged, more powerful 2,341cc Gioachino Colombo-designed V12 engine. Magnani was a household name, a truly global film star. A famous picture of her with the Ferrari was taken on the set of the 1952 film La Carrosse d'Or - The Golden Coach, which was directed by Jean Renoir. She later won an Oscar for her performance in the 1956 movie The Rose Tattoo. Her 195 Inter was a Vignale-bodied version of the second road-going Ferrari. Enlarging the V12 engine made it more flexible at low speeds - important for period customers unused to the high performance of a Ferrari. However, it was also more powerful, giving it a high top speed for the time. Italian coachbuilders Touring, Ghia and Ghia Aigle also produced body variants of the 195 Inter. Anna Magnani owned her Ferrari until 1959, when it passed into the hands of collectors. It was later believed to have been converted by the factory to 212 Inter specification. In 2016, Magnani's former Ferrari won the FIVA Preservation Award at the Argentinian Autoclasica event. Did Hari Shankar Tibrewala crash the stock market?
The Story
Penny stocks (ones trading under ₹10 a share) and small-cap stocks are being punished. And there’s one name cropping up as a probable cause for a part of this mayhem — Hari Shankar Tibrewala.
But who’s this shadowy figure, you wonder?
Well, does the name Mahadev betting scam ring a bell?
No?
Okay. The details are a little murky, but we’ve tried to piece everything together. So let’s take it from the top.
It all started in the mid-2010s in a town in Chhattisgarh. A young man named Saurabh Chandrakar had decided to set up a juice stall. He called it Mahadev Juice Centre and he had his fingers crossed for this to be successful. The problem was that he’d not had much luck with previous business ideas and to make things worse, Chandrakar had already racked up a few lakhs in losses due to an ugly gambling habit.
That’s when he bumped into a fellow gambler and businessman named Ravi Uppal. And maybe they decided that they couldn’t keep losing money to these betting schemes. So they decided it made sense for them to be the ‘house’. Together the two of them decided to set up a betting website.
And in 2017, they set up their gambling app named after the juice centre — Mahadev Book. They wanted people to place live bets on sporting events such as cricket and football.
And since they really didn’t have any experience creating something that would scale, as per some reports, they managed to get an introduction to the folks who already ran a pretty successful betting app called Reddy Anna.
Apparently, that technical know-how changed their fortunes.
By 2019, Uppal and Chandrakar migrated to Dubai and their families followed soon after. They began advertising to lure in the millions of users and soon began raking in crores of rupees a day. They set up over 10,000 bank accounts across the world to receive all this money.
Either way, when Chandrakar decided to flaunt his newfound wealth by splashing ₹200 crores on an opulent wedding in 2023, India’s Enforcement Directorate woke up.
“Who on earth was this guy who suddenly had Bollywood A-listers attending his wedding in Dubai?”, they thought.
So they investigated. They found that everything about the app and the money it made was illegal. And then worked with the UAE law enforcement to arrest Chandrakar and Uppal.
Anyway, that’s the short version of this scam that’s allegedly worth a mammoth ₹6,000 crores!
Okay. But how does Hari Shankar Tibrewala fit into all this, you ask?
Ah, so Tibrewala is a Dubai-based ‘businessman’ who allegedly teamed up with Chandrakar and Uppal. He ran a variant of the Mahadev Book app called 'Skyexchange'.
And his modus operandi was pretty simple. He took money from customers and then handed it over to a clandestine network of money operators. These folks would find ways to park it surreptitiously into bank accounts. And these bank accounts would be controlled by Indian or foreign entities.
What would they do with this money?
Well, as per the Enforcement Directorate, the money eventually wound up in the Indian stock markets — a whopping ₹1,100 crores worth of it. And most of it would be in the stocks of smaller companies such as Tiger Logistics, Toyam Sports, and Gogia Capital Services. In fact, around 30 listed stocks are suspected to have investments from one of Tibrewala’s many dummy companies.
Now the reason for choosing smaller companies was simple. Hardly anyone would trade in these shares. And that meant it would be easier to manipulate the prices. He could quite easily play the pump-and-dump game — drive up the prices, fool retail investors into thinking the stock is the next big thing and then exit it at a hefty profit.
And since this dubious practice worried the folks at the ED, they jumped right in and have frozen shares worth a whopping ₹1,100 crores in demat accounts linked to Tibrewala.
But wait…does it mean that all 30 stocks are being manipulated, you ask?
Probably not. Anyone can buy stocks from the open market, right? And it’s not necessary that Tibrewala has a direct connection with the promoters of the companies. In fact, at least 6 of these companies have issued public clarifications saying that they have no direct connection to Tibrewala.
But here’s the thing. It may not be enough to assuage investor fears that their beloved stock is being manipulated.
Take, for instance, a solar utility company called Gensol Engineering. The Morning Context points out that one of Tibrewala’s companies Zenith Multi Trading DMCC has a stake in the firm. And for a period after Zenith took its spot as an investor, the stock had a meteoric rise.
Now that might be true. But you don’t need to have decision-making rights to drive up an illiquid stock’s price, no? And that could mean the Tibrewala connection could still optically look quite bad for Gensol.
In fact, companies with links to Tibrewala have all fallen by 10–30% in just this month. And that’s why people are laying blame on Tibrewala’s doorstep for the recent rout.
PS: Of course, it’s foolish to attribute a broader market crash to just Tibrewala. There’s a whole host of things at play here — SEBI’s warning on market manipulation, the regulator asking mutual funds to be cognizant of the risks in smaller companies, and even some global stock market weakness. But we just wanted to talk about the Dubai-based operator’s connection to certain Indian stocks.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb's quips on alcohol and double-entendre Estonian words during his state visit to Estonia were not too well-received by some Estonians and Finns, according to an Iltalehti report.
Finnish experts on Estonia suggested to Iltalehti that the jokes were outdated, and hearkened back to the alcohol tourism of the 1990s.
At a dinner on Monday evening at the Tallinn cruise terminal, Stubb mentioned his playlist of Estonian artists like Eleryn Tiit, Stefan and Karl-Erik Taukar. He noted that Taukar has a song called 'Cuba Libre' and Smilers has a song called 'Mojito.'
Stubb then quipped in English, "I wonder when Eleryn Tiit will release a song called Viru Valge?" This remark was met with awkward chuckles, particularly from the Estonians. Viru Valge is a popular Estonian vodka brand.
In his speech, Stubb also mentioned Estonian words that mean something entirely different in Finnish. One of them was 'ämmä' which Stubb explained means a grumpy old woman in Finnish.
Tapio Reini, editor-in-chief of the Finnish-language radio station SSS-radio in Estonia, was among those who felt Stubb's jokes were distasteful and outdated.
"The rule of thumb is that if a Finn starts telling alcohol jokes in Estonia, they always backfire," said Jari Havia, a Finnish non-fiction writer specializing in Estonia.
On Tuesday, Stubb visited the Rakett69 science studio in Tallinn, where Estonian IT guru Taavi Kotka introduced the HK Unicorn Squad, an initiative promoting women in tech. To this, Stubb quipped, "In Finland, the name HK is already claimed by sausage."
This particular HK sausage also represents an unfortunate chapter in Finnish-Estonian economic history, as HKScan, the manufacturer of the HK sausage, owned production units in Estonia for over 20 years but ultimately withdrew from Estonia and the Baltics.
Parties say EU must pay for border fence
The EU should pay for a fence to be built on Finland’s eastern border — this was the opinion of the representatives of all nine parliamentary parties in Ilta-Sanomat’s European election debate on Tuesday.
The debate at Sanomatalo in Helsinki featured several votes where participants displayed their stance on various issues with yes or no placards.
Helsingin Sanomat reported that the question about funding the eastern border fence was the only one to receive unanimous support from all nine parties.
The question read: "Should the EU pay for a fence to be built on the eastern border?"
Those who raised the green placard were Petteri Orpo (National Coalition Party), Antti Lindtman (Social Democratic Party), Riikka Purra (Finns Party), Petri Honkonen (Centre Party), Li Andersson (Left Alliance), Sofia Virta (Greens), Anna-Maja Henriksson (Swedish People’s Party), Sari Essayah (Christian Democrats), and Harry Harkimo (Movement Now).
All parties were represented by their leaders at the event except the Centre Party, which sent former Culture Minister Honkonen.
After the vote, Finns Party chair and Finance Minister Purra said the EU’s border security funding instruments currently do not allow for funding of the fence from union funds, but hopes it could be possible in the future.
Purra added that Finland’s 1,300-kilometer-long eastern border cannot be protected entirely with fences and that such barriers are expensive. Fences are being built only in areas where the Border Guard deems them most beneficial.
The Border Guard plans to build about 200 kilometres of barrier fence on the eastern border from 2024 to 2026. In the first phase, a total of 70 kilometres of border fence will be built at border crossing points and their surrounding areas. The total cost of the project is estimated at 380 million euros.
End of Foodora market
Food delivery service Foodora plans to shut down its online grocery store, Foodora Market, in Finland, as reported by Taloussanomat.
Foodora Market's director Anni Ahnger confirmed to the paper that the company has started layoff talks with employee representatives aimed at ending Foodora Market's operations in Finland. The talks will potentially affect 80 employees.
The company has a total of seven Foodora Market stores in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Espoo, Jyväskylä, and Oulu. Products could be purchased from these stores through the Foodora app and then delivered to the customer. The first Foodora Market opened in Helsinki in December 2020.
An Aamulehti report stated several reasons behind the closure of Foodora Markets, with consumers' price consciousness being one of them.
Online grocery shopping has also not developed as hoped in Finland after the boom during the Covid period, compared to other European countries, Ahnger told Aamulehti.
She added that the profitability of Foodora Markets in Finland is impacted by regulation. In Sweden and Norway, Foodora delivers alcohol, tobacco and pharmacy products.
Foodora Market will continue to operate normally in other countries.
Foodora, which is a part of the German group Delivery Hero, has faced significant financial losses in Finland over the past years. In 2022, the company reported a loss of approximately 15.5 million euros despite generating a turnover of around 175 million euros.
Finland among hottest in Europe
Finland is currently basking in some of Europe's warmest temperatures, as reported by commercial broadcaster MTV.
While southern and eastern Europe boast similarly warm or even hotter conditions, cooler air masses dominate in the west.
MTV Meteorologist Aleksi Jokela explains that the reason behind Finland's exceptionally warm May is a high-pressure area formed over northern and eastern Europe and Russia. Continuous cold air flows into Siberia through the high-pressure area, but the high pressure system transports warm heat masses from southern Europe to Finland via eastern Europe.
On Wednesday, some parts of Finland are expected to hit the 30-degree mark.

Did Hari Shankar Tibrewala crash the stock market???
Tumblr media
And most of it would be in the stocks of smaller companies such as Tiger Logistics, Toyam Sports, and Gogia 24-ddc-news Services. In fact, around 30 listed stocks are suspected to have investments from one of Tibrewala’s many dummy companies.
Now the reason for choosing smaller companies was simple. Hardly anyone would trade in these shares. And that meant it would be easier to manipulate the prices. He could quite easily play the pump-and-dump game  - drive up the prices, fool retail investors into thinking the stock is the next big thing and then exit it at a hefty profit.
