#annabeth chase is the moment

i've seen so many posts talking about percy adopting luke's role as chb's big brother. and while i do love the sentiment of percy being that safe space for all of those demigods, i think it would make an equal amount of sense for annabeth to also adopt that role. she's been at camp since she was seven years old, so not only does she have a deep understand of the chb community, but she can sympathize with all the youngers campers who are struggling to find a family within that community. furthermore, she is a resourceful two-time war veteran with more experience than almost every person in that camp combined. annabeth could also be the older and experience camper for all of the newcomers. period.

can we talk about percy uncovering luke’s true intentions and luke coming clean about wanting to recruit percy as a powerful ally and percy obviously refusing despite sympathizing with the cause because he’s just better than that leading to them dueling, with luke about to strike percy down when annabeth’s blade, the one luke gifted her, the same cursed blade that’ll reap his soul 3 years from now, sealed with the promise of family and new beginnings, knocking into backbiter in luke’s hands, and luke turning to stare at her with the most heartbroken, torn expression on his face and annabeth staring him down with more venom than any pit scorpion could’ve had.

can we talk about annabeth standing in the clearing watching the only man she loves, someone who made a promise to protect her and always have her back, someone she’s known for 5 years, looming over a boy she met mere weeks ago, someone who, despite a godly rivalry getting in the way of their initial friendship, fought for her and saved her and chose her over himself time and time again…can we talk about how the defiance in her gaze made it very clear to luke that the person he’s closest to would choose percy over him every time

grover getting frustrated on annabeth’s behalf and reminding percy that the yankees cap is the one thing she has of her mother…it’s so special to me you don’t understand. annabeth saying “he was my protector first”. i’m so glad they’re going into the annabeth and grover dynamic because we do NOT talk about it enough

oh and ANOTHER interesting thing that Riordan does with Percy in the tartarus chapters to never ever bring up again is Percy achieving seemingly impossible(?) physical feats.

Like when Percy kills Arachne, he does so so quickly that Annabeth can't comprehend it. She literally asks him "How did you move so fast?" and he just shrugs and is like "Gotta watch out for each other right? Anyways..." and immediately changes the subject.

Then later he jumps over a river with Annabeth on his back and again, right before it, she's like "How are you going to do this??? It's twenty feet across. How can you possibly do that?" and he straight up is just like "yeah I can do it just close your eyes" and then does it???

of course these moments happen during Annabeth's pov so we'll never know for sure but its just so fascinating cause Riordan goes out of his way to indicate that Percy was displaying strength, speed, agility, etc way beyond his typical threshold while also implying that not only was Percy aware of it but he was either trying to downplay it to Annabeth or avoid discussing it altogether.

Percy, offers Annabeth his sword for help but then uses it to switch places with her despite her protesting and the fact that he is literally dying from poison:

percy's nose scrunch when he's laughing with grover

grover and percy swapping cheese and meat on their sandwiches, so easily that they must do it all the time

mrs dodds' wings pushing into that little kid and him looking behind in confusion! such a subtle way of starting to show the mist

percy 1) knowing the plumber's name and 2) apologizing to him even though it's not even close to his fault or his problem but just bc he's a sweetie

getting pissed off about gabe answering his mom's cell, like c'mon he's been taught so well, he knows what is healthy and what's not

"losing at imaginary poker" please he's so funny

how HOMEY their apartment looks, get sally into interior decorating asap

"i told him i believe my kid. it was a real short call"

when she wipes away her tears without saying anything as he wakes up oh that hurt... that hurt

sally reaching for percy just before she disappears i think my heart stopped beating

the tears in percy's eyes as everything slows ouch ouch ouch

the pure anger and determination in his expression after his first clash with the minotaur oh okay i see the fatal flaw yep yep yep

It’s nothing it’s just Annabeth having to watch Jason fall in love with Piper, even as he’s gaining back his memories, knowing that her Percy is alone somewhere with no clue who she is and could very well be doing the same

sometimes. i just have to remind myself that percy took annabeth to paris. like, canonically. he forgot their one-month anniversary. and took his girl to paris to make up for it. the standards are in elysium.

I LOVE LOVE LOVEE how its canon that Jason is super physically clingy and just generally really giddy and adorable while he's excited. This is shown multiple times it warms my heart 🥹 also he canonically gives out the best hugs too which is super refreshing since everyone always assumes that he's cold and intimidating 🥹🔫

When he bear hugged Percy after he came back to tartarus. (HoH)

When opened his arms out to nico excitedly after he said he'd stay at Camp half blood. And gave him the most bone crushing hug ever after nico gave permission (Boo)

When he excitedly leaned in and kissed Piper after she figured out the meaning of the Storm/Fire line in the prophecy. (HoH)

When he was super excited to talk about Roman historic leaders he kept yapping on and on about them to the point he didn't even realize that Leo was mocking him, bc he was just too excited (HoH)

When apollo noted that Jason's eyes noticeably "brightened" after he mentioned to jason that Thalia said hello. (TOA)

When he wanted Thalia to stay w him in the lost hero and talk more :(
