it's so weird to me that a lot of people seem to think that mike genuinely meant to be homophobic during the rain fight? they think he's that mean and that he thought it through and went out of his way to act like their middle school bully because his best friend tangentially called his girlfriend stupid? and not...that it was a poor choice of words? maybe i just have too much faith in humanity but i literally couldn't brainwash myself into interpreting it like that...and neither could will
#does it come off as homophobic? yeah sure but with the context you Obviously KNOW that that's not what he meant#i know i'm like two days late i was just thinking about it...team twt mlvns (and normal bylers) on this one like#i mean i hope will would have enough self-respect to not let himself fall deeper in love with a guy he thinks is homophobic#and paint him as his knight in shining armor and tell him he makes him feel better for being different like...lmao#sure he couldn't have stopped it that easily because he's really in love with him whatever i believe in him he would have done it#and of course it's still shitty and of course will thought he meant it like that for a second and this and everything else mike tells him#still makes him feel awful and of course it was supposed to clue the audience in on the fact that will Really doesn't like girls but?#and i don't even really think it was projection that interpretation doesn't make that much sense to me like idk it doesn't click in my#brain i really just think he meant...that will didnt like girls...because he'd been going on about it being a day free of girls and getting#annoyed with lucas and mike for wanting to talk to the girls. like he was not liking girls the way 14-year-olds who aren't interested in#romance don't like girls which is why that was the official meaning of that line for three years lmao#i do think mike not liking girls himself is ironic and funny and makes the line work really well#but yeah idk#also if you do think he MEANT to be homophobic why do you even like him and why do you want him to be with will😭#i really didn't know people thought he was being homophobic on purpose until last year and i was like wait...do we really think that?#and like i say: brf slt

Trailer Park Steve AU part 6
part 1 | part 5
October
It's Wednesday night, which means dinner at the Hendersons. Steve finally decided to show his face — and no, not because Dustin's doorstep song and dance had any effect on him; it was partly because he was sick of hearing muted metal music from across the street and mostly because he hadn't left the trailer in three days and he was starting to feel and smell like shit.
So, anyway. Dinner. Ma Henderson's pulled out all the stops: prepped a homemade lasagna, stocked the fridge with full-sugar sodas and bought the good brand of key lime pie; invited the Sinclair and Wheeler kids to make a little party of it. (Nancy was 'unfortunately too busy to attend,' thank fucking god.)
But then Ma got stuck late at work, so now it's all hands on deck. Mike and Erica are setting the table — Steve can hear Mike bitching at her because she told him the knives go the other way, dumbass; Lucas is at the fridge filling cups with ice and Pepsi and muttering to himself about how much better Coke is; Steve's got an eye on the oven, waiting for the cheese on the lasagna to bubble up juuust right; and Dustin is using "prepping the salad" as an excuse to corner Steve and annoy the ever-loving crap out of him.
“What do you mean it’s hard?” Dustin whines, dropping a handful of shredded carrots into the wooden bowl. “Just talk to him!”
Steve takes a deep breath. Mourns, briefly, for the night he could have had; the girls he could be doing hand stuff with in the back of the Beemer instead of putting up with this kid's shit. “I don’t wanna Just Talk to Him." He bends to peek through the oven door. "And, also: get off my ass about it, alright? I came to dinner, I'm heating up the lasagna. I'm, like, participating or whatever. What more do you want?”
“For you to talk to Eddie! Obviously!" Dustin's tossing the greens so aggressively that it kinda feels like he wishes he was pummeling Steve instead, and when he throws his hands up, little flecks of iceberg lettuce go raining to the floor.
Steve eyes the leafy green confetti. "You're cleaning that up."
"Come on, dude," Dustin begs. "It's been two weeks! What's the point of having friends who are next door neighbors if they refuse to get along?”
Behind them, Lucas supplies in a weirdly strangled tone: “This really doesn’t seem like the way to get him to talk to Eddie."
Thank you. Steve couldn't agree more. He turns to tell him as much and realizes the reason Lucas' voice sounded like that is because he's trying to make one trip to the dining room at any fucking cost. He's got an armful of drinking glasses and three cans of Pepsi tucked under his chin, and he's about to fumble the whole wobbly stack.
"Jesus Christ, man, cut that out!" Steve swoops in to grab the cans before they can join the lettuce shower Dustin just made. He doesn't care how much he loves Claudia, he will leave without helping if they splatter soda all over this floor. Mews the Second can lick it clean for all he cares, he's so for real. "Two at a time," he says sternly, taking the extra cups from Lucas’ hold and handing him back a reasonable amoint. He sends Lucas out of the room with a knee to the ass.
"Hey!" Lucas pouts.
"Hey yourself," he grins.
Lucas sticks out his tongue like a child (because he is one, Steve reminds himself), and when he shoulders the swinging door to the dining room he almost brains his little sister, who makes a graceful side-step and comes strutting through undeterred.
"Are you two nerds done playing good cop, annoying cop with Steve?"
"Ah-!" Dustin gawps. "I better not be the annoying cop!"
"Uh, yeah. Obviously, you are." She props a fist on her hip, a little tyrant in the making, and Steve’s ribs go tender with a fond, vaguely proud ache. He really loves her so much. "Now scram. I need to borrow Steve."
On second thought.
Surely at some point these kids, like, owe him money or some shit for the amount of weary sighs they've caused him to let out. Like, financial compensation for the years taken off his life? Something?
"Yes, Erica?" he asks, nostrils flared; eyes closed.
"You should talk to Eddie."
"Oh, Jesus fucking Christ." Steve looks up to the ceiling, pleading for anyone to grant him strength, then he turns to pull the lasagna out of the oven and watches the bubbles sizzle and pop in the hot cheese until he no longer feels like blowing up at a little girl. "Okay. Okay. And I should listen to you because…?"
Screw financial compensation.
He deserves a presidential medal for how calm he's keeping his tone.
Erica's glaring fiercely at him when he glances her way, and why is every kid he knows such a brave, confrontational little shit? "Because," she explains, "He's being mean to my brother."
Oh, fuck no. "What do you mean?" he asks, voice dropping to an urgent hiss as he feels his hackles raise. Like hell is he letting some Billy 2.0 hang around his kids. "Is he, like- Is he saying shit about you guys?"
She spares him from trying to find a tactful way to ask what he's really asking. "No," she says shortly. "But he is being a bastard about him joining the basketball team—"
"Language—" Oh, what's the point.
"—and those two nerds out there? Are obsessed with him. Especially Mike. Like, ob-sessed.” She writes the letters out in the air in front of her to really drive home the point. “Mike likes whatever Eddie likes, so you need to convince Eddie to like Lucas before Lucas loses his friends over this stupid 'jocks versus freaks' crap." She lowers her voice and jabs the skywriting finger into his shoulder hard enough to bruise. "And if you tell Lucas I said any of this? It is on. sight, Steve. I will crush you."
"Jesus Christ."
"So, we good?"
"Uh huh," Steve stammers. "Y-yep. Understood."
Wow. So dignified, Steve. Really loved how you let a ten year old intimidate you. He's saved from any further bullying by the sound of keys jangling in the lock.
"Dusty!" Claudia calls out through the door, "Dustybunny, can you come help? My hands are full!"
In the dining room Steve hears Dustin groan while Mike and Lucas start immediately tearing into him for the name, mocking 'Dustybunny; oh, Dustybun!' in stupid sing-song tones.
"So I'm just gonna..." Steve says awkwardly, inching toward the door. "Go get that."
"Mhmm." Erica gives him an unimpressed look. "You do that."
"Oh, Steve, sweetie, thank you!" Claudia says when he opens the door, cheerful and sweet as always. He goes to take her bags from her, but she drops them all at her feet and steps forward to give him a hug, a firm and tender thing that makes an annoying lump form in his throat.
"How are you?" she asks, stepping back to look at him; eyes raking over his face, hands on his cheeks. Really looks. She frowns at whatever she sees. "How's your mom?"
"Can you please just talk to me?" Steve begs, shivering in the hallway because they haven't budgeted for turning on the heat just yet. Wasn't supposed to get this cold for another pay cycle. He tugs the ends of his sweatshirt sleeves. His limbs feel stiff and tense, a budding anxiety like there’s a bomb in the base of his spine.
"Steven, darling, not now," his mother sighs as she sinks demurely onto the couch. "Then when!" he explodes. He doesn't want to yell at her, but, "Seriously, when? When are we going to say anything to each other that actually fucking matters, mom? I feel like I barely even know you anymore!"
"Yes, and I feel a migraine coming on; are you quite finished?"
"….She's fine," Steve answers.
Could be true, for all he knows.
The wrinkles between Claudia's brows deepen, like she wants to press the subject but decides to hold her tongue. "That's good to hear," she settles on after a moment, giving him a gentle pat on the cheek before stepping away with a subtle look that’s not mad, just disappointed.
Steve kind of wants to cry.
"Mom! Food!" Dustin hollers from the other room.
Steve rolls his eyes. "I swear I try to teach him manners."
"Well, good luck with that," she grins, the shadow of tension between them dissipating. Her mood is good like that. Resilient. Strong. Immune to outside force.
Steve’s moods, on the other hand, are more like those stainless steel fridges that promise to remain spotless but then end up covered in grubby handprints. (Exhibit A: he’s doing it right now.)
Thankfully Claudia’s got enough sunshine in her for the both of them. “Come on,” she says, extending a hand and wiggling her fingers for him to grab hold. “Let's eat."

Hiii I literally love you and your writing especially your Eddie writing!!! Anywaysss, could I request a shy!reader where they and Eddie are dating but they kinda kept it on the down low but reader was having a bad day and was being all clingy and like everyone found out and the hellfire club was just like 😮
hi i love u ty for ur request! hope this okay ♥️ shy!fem!reader | 1k words
You know you shouldn’t go to his club. It’s not fair of you. Hellfire is one of his sacred nerd rituals. As soon as he sees you like this he’ll put it on pause, and you also know – one of the only things you do know about Dungeons and Dragons — that stopping in the middle of a game interrupts the flow.
Still. You’re feeling a little selfish and a lot strung out. Today has sucked and all you’ve done is wish he was there to make you feel better, so you walk down the hallway to the club room and stand at the door, trying to summon the courage to open it.
On the other side, Mike Wheeler catches a flash of your clothes through the small glass panel and frowns. He jabs Dustin Henderson hard in the side, earning a, “What the fuck, dude?” that Mike quickly shushes.
“There’s a girl outside,” he says.
Girls are… uncommon, at Hellfire.
Dustin leans forward to look around Mike’s torso and forgets to whisper. “Is she crying?”
Eddie looks up, annoyed at being interrupted by the newbies and about to delve into a speech on respecting your dungeon master when his gaze slides past them. He spots your torso, your hands pulled up to your chest, and he knows it’s you. From the curve of your arm alone.
He’s half standing when you knock.
The rest of the group gawp as he stands. Usually, Eddie would either ignore whoever it is or have someone else answer, and his sudden willingness is downright shocking.
He cracks the door open. He’s barely had time to take in your tear stained cheeks when you’re whispering apologies. “I’m really sorry,” you say quickly, pulling the sleeves of your soft cardigan down over your hands. “I needed to see you.”
“What happened?” he asks, trying for hushed like you but missing the mark.
Mike and Dustin make incredulous faces at each other, eyes squinted in confusion.
“Who the fuck is that?” Mike asks.
Lucas Sinclair grins from across the table. “Who do you think?”
“You know her?” Dustin questions. He sounds pissed to have been kept out of the loop.
“Nope,” Lucas says, elbows sliding over the crinkling paper of his character sheet as he pulls in his chair. “I’ve never seen her before in my life. But that’s definitely his girlfriend.”
A handful of laughs from around the table. “Yeah, right,” Gareth says.
Lucas leans in even closer, practically conspiratorial as he points to Eddie’s dirty-white sneakers. “Look, see how close they’re standing?” When nobody looks convinced, Lucas glares. “I know what I’m talking about!”
He really does. The toes of your shoes are a hair's-width from Eddie’s, face to the ground as you scrub your wet cheeks. Telling him about your bad day has made it somehow feel better and worse, and your breathing comes shallow.
“I’m sorry,” you say again. “I know you’re playing your- um, your game.”
Eddie glances over his shoulder. The large majority of the group whip their faces back to their sheets, caught. He shoots a scowl at them all, though any annoyance slips away when he turns back to you. You look so sad.
Eddie doesn’t really think about it. He steps out into the hall and lets the door close behind him, arms wrapping around you placatingly. “Hey, it’s okay.”
“It’s been a really shitty day,” you say hoarsely.
“I know,” he murmurs, rubbing your back. Your shoulders tremble under his palm. “You should’ve found me earlier.”
“I didn’t want to ruin your game.”
“You haven’t. They’re on break,” he promises.
It’s a total lie but he couldn't care less about the campaign, not when you’ve come unraveled. You nod into his chest and worm your shaking hand around his waist, squeezing so tightly it aches. His head tucks over yours like it was made to and he wills some stillness into you, perturbed by your shuddering. He hates when you get like this. You're so wound up you can’t calm yourself down.
Inside the club room, there’s a riot of whispering, some quieter than others.
Lucas sits back in his chair smugly. “Dude, you have a girlfriend. You shouldn’t be so surprised,” he says to Mike.
Mike peers through the glass door with a mild disgust. “Me and my girlfriend don’t do that.”
“That is not true.”
“We don’t-“
“No, they really don’t,” Dustin agrees. “They’re too busy trying to swallow each other.
Anyone who’d been listening starts to laugh, worse when Mike’s cheeks flare red and he flips them all the bird. The laughter quickly dies when the door opens and Eddie returns, his sad maybe-girlfriend trailing behind him.
“Someone get a chair for Y/N,” is all he says.
You look like you might burst into flames on the spot. Everyone’s eyes are on you. You hate it.
“Thank you,” you say, though you aren’t sure who you’re thanking as somebody passes you a chair. Eddie sits back in his ‘throne’ and you sit beside him, cheeks dry but eyes still red and face downtrodden.
Eddie leans back and rolls his eyes at the silence. “She’s my assistant for today's session,” he says concisely, before any of them think they have the right to ask.
Eddie can’t hold your hand and you don’t think you could survive it in front of so many people, but when the game starts back up and everyone is distracted he pushes his foot behind your calf and pulls your leg toward him. There’s a smile on his face as he orchestrates the next dungeon, his pen scratching down notes you don’t understand.
He rips a page from his notebook and passes it to you covertly.
You take it and let it lie against your thighs. When you read it, you struggle to suppress a giddy smile.
Prettiest assistant ever. Think she'll let me take her out tonight?
He likes his chances.

hello!! if you can and want, could you write some angst with steve x fem!reader in which reader feels insecure - in a way that she thinks she's annoying because she talks too much and sometimes too loud, and one day, steve has the party over for a movie night and one of the kids mention that she talks too much and she's too loud while steve goes into the kitchen for something (or to the bathroom, whatever). so from that moment on she tries to speak as little as possible until steve brings it up to her one day and comforts her about it.
i'm sorry if it's too specific, if you can't do it, it's alright! your writings are some of my favourites on tumblr!!! 🌼💗
you and steve never really had any major problems, little fights every now and then but it wasn’t big. you still loved each other, you completed each other
but sometimes, just sometimes, you’d wonder if you really did complete steve. moments like this would always come up, like you’d be play fighting with steve and you’d say “i’m gonna catch you!” a bit too loud
when that would happen, you’d quiet down, you’d be the same, just calmer and more quiet. steve never really notice it until one day, where it became way too clear for him not to.
you were with the party, everyone was wrapped around blankets, popcorn and snacks in hand as they watched the movie, steve was next to you, holding you close as you watched
“wait i don’t get it—how did all that happen when her boyfriend was just sleeping, he must’ve noticed, right?” you asked
“hm, don’t think so, it was outside so he couldn’t have heard it” steve explained
“ohh, yeah right” you said, steve then told you he was gonna go get more snacks from the kitchen
“that one’s my favorite” you pointed to the girl on the screen, you liked talking about the characters and movie overall
“oh my god” mike whined
“we get it, jesus” lucas said
“what the hell, guys?” dustin said
“im sorry dustin i cant take it anymore” mike said, “cant you go one minute without talking? it’s so annoying! we can barely hear the movie because of how loud you are!” mike rolled his eyes and dustin smacked him
“oh…i’m sorry” was all you said, you turned back to the movie and snuggled closer into your blanket, wishing you could hide under it forever. you wanted to disappear, to go away.
you zoned out as the scene kept replaying in your head, you knew it. you finally knew what they truly think of you, what they hate about you. and it was exactly what you hated about yourself
you felt steve sit next to you, making you snap back to reality
“got you your favorite” he smiled and gave you the bag, you slightly smiled and ate in silence
ever since that night, you barely spoke. when you’d visit steve, you’d just listen and nod when he’s speaking. only time you’d actually talk is when you had to give a verbal response.
even then, it was low and wasn’t the way you used to talk, it was worse when you were around the party, you wouldn’t utter a single sound. you thought nobody would notice, but steve did. very much.
steve was working robin’s shift, so it was just you and him, he called you earlier, asking if you could come over since he’s closing the store now, you muttered a small ‘mhm’ and went to the store, helping him close up
he was talking to you about one of the customers that came today, and how they’d taken so long to decide what movie they wanted
“can you believe it? 45 minutes just to pick ghostbusters, it’s not even that hard of a decision to make” he said as he put away the tapes, he looked to you and saw you nodding
“let’s go sit for a bit, take a little break” he said and you nodded again, he sat in front of you, holding your hand
he called your name, and you shook your head in question, “you know i love you, right?” he said and you nodded, “you know you can tell me anything, right?” and you nodded yet again
“did i do something?” he asked and you furrowed your eyebrows and shook your head, “talk to me” he said, his tone frustrated
“no” you shook your head
“then tell me what’s wrong” he asked and you stayed silent, “i know somethings wrong, please—tell me why are you acting this way?”
“what way—“
“are you serious?” he cut in, “you’ve barely said a word to me for the past few days, i know theres a reason—talk to me, please.”
you looked at him for a bit and looked down, “there’s nothing wrong, okay? just—some people finally decided be brave enough to tell me the truth”
“what truth? what people—“
“the truth is that im annoying!” you snapped, “that im annoying—and loud, and talkative. and im happy to hear it because they’re not wrong. they’re not! i should actually thank them for finally telling me what’s wrong with me.” you sighed
steve looked at you with such hurt in his eyes, “who said that?” he asked in a low voice
“why do you even care—”
“why do i even ca—are you—because it’s a lie! everything—they’re all lies! baby, who cares if you like to talk about things more than others do, who cares if you’re loud? you’re you and thats what matters, whoever said that is saying complete bullshit, and i don’t care about it. i just—“ he sighed and held your hand tighter, “i miss your voice, i miss the way you get excited about things, i miss the way you talk on and on and on, i miss you. i miss you, peach.”
a smile found its way on your face and you hugged him tight, “i love you, stevie” you said
“i love you too” he smiled, a feeling of comfort finally coming back to him, to hear you and have you in his arms again.
you two held onto each other for a bit before letting go, “now, you wanna tell me who in their right mind said that?”

At first, Eddie and Steve keep their relationship a secret. It isn't because they are embarrassed, nor do they even think their friends will be disapproving. It's simply because they happen to be friends with the most annoying, overbearing busy-bodies on planet earth.
It was bound to happen, all of them being so involved in each others' lives to the point that it's probably a serious co-dependent situation that someone (or Nancy) should study with science or some shit. But being bonded by unimaginable terrors from another dimension will do that.
Anyway, the pack of gremlins are always around, always demanding attention, always in the way of Eddie and Steve. So Eddie takes it upon himself to tease the dumbass twerps who remain oblivious to his relationship with their favourite babysitter.
Case in point: Dustin, Will and Lucas have been driven around all damn afternoon by Steve, mostly wasting time and wingeing about him not providing them with enough fun despite the fact they were now living in the near ghost town. All the while Eddie rides shotgun, watching his boyfriend become increasingly annoyed as the likelihood of a date night dwindles with each passing second.
“Our problems would be solved if Steve would just drive us into the city,” Dustin whines, staring at the back of the driver’s seat like he wants to burn a hole in it El-style.
“Absolutely not!” Steve argues as he pulls into the Wheeler’s driveway.
“Eddie?” Dustin asks, voice sickly sweet as he leans in between the front seats. “Can you drive us?”
“Gee, Henderson, love that I’m your last resort,” Eddie scoffs as he continues picking at his nails.
He slumps back in his seat, bracing himself for the same argument Dustin has had with Steve for the past week. That is unless he speeds this up a little and gently teases Steve while he's at it...
“Anyway,” he continues, drawing out his words as he dares a glance at Steve who merely rolls his eyes. “I’m busy.”
“Busy with what?” Lucas asks, more accusatory than curious.
“Nothing,” he responds, waiting on bated breath for more queries.
Steve slowly turns his head and he can’t help but give a teasing wink that leaves his boyfriend white-knuckling the steering wheel.
“It’s a Saturday. There’s no Hellfire because you are keeping us waiting on whatever torture you are concocting," Dustin insists, jostling Steve’s seat with every word and earning a series of grumbles from their chauffeur. “And you don’t have work.”
Eddie shrugs. “I have a date.”
At that, Dustin launches forward, an inch from Eddie’s face.
“You don’t date!” he shrieks.
“Do so,” Eddie says, shifting in his seat to square off with his young friend. “I have a life outside entertaining you dorks. Also, Henderson, that is the meanest thing you have ever said to me.”
He mimics sniffling and uses his index finger to simulate a tear running down his cheek as he pouts.
“So, who’s your girlfriend?” Dustin demands, his eyebrows disappearing up under his cap.
“Yes, do tell,” Steve adds, narrowing his eyes at him as he turns off the ignition, challenging.
Will remains silent in the back seat, despite Lucas opening the rear passenger door at the sight of Mike standing at his front stoop, waiting.
“Oh, you know…” Eddie begins, gesturing with his hand as he searches for some generic details. “Nice… hates her parents, which gives me ample opportunity to do my ‘bad boy boyfriend’-schitck… Very pretty… Great hair! Like, the best... Has a great rack.”
He nods at that last one before twirling a lock of his hair and crossing it over his face.
“You shouldn’t talk about girls like that,” Dustin shoots back, ever the goody-goody.
His words almost conceal a huffed laugh from Steve that only Eddie seems to catch. Truthfully, he can’t help but giggle too, mostly because despite being the brainiac of the century, Henderson of all people, had remained completely oblivious for months now. Also Steve's cheek has turned pink and that's worth him being smug about.
“Says the person who takes dating advice from King Steve,” Eddie counters.
He reaches over to run a finger up Steve's arm and lingers just enough. It makes Steve, already biting his lip from the nickname, squirm in his seat.
“And I have a girlfriend because of it!” Dustin retorts, adjusting his cap with a proud flourish and patting Steve on the shoulder.
It makes him jump, likely remembering that three of his kids are in the back of the car cramping his style.
“Alrighty,” he splutters, giving one of those rousing dad-slash-gym teacher claps that Eddie finds oddly authoritative in a hot way. “Out of the car, assholes.”
Dustin looks at Steve, incredulous as if it’s some great offence to be dejected from the car when they have reached their destination. Steve just raises his eyebrows in defiance at their young friend. He really does look cute when he's grumpy.
The boys huff and exit, taking the loss this time around. Steve watches as they walk towards the Wheeler’s front door and gesticulate wildly as they talk. Mike looks at the car with his signature stink-eye and takes a step forward. Steve promptly fires up the engine.
He intentionally revs the car, giggling as the kids jump at the sound.
“So, where are you taking me on a date?” he asks, rolling the car along and veering away from Mike before he can ask a damn thing.
“I thought we could watch movies at my place,” Eddie shrugs, offering his go-to plan.
“That isn’t a date!” Steve shrieks.
Eddie can’t help but grumble at the foiled idea. He gives Mike the finger as Steve peels out of the driveway, ranting about all the activities he steadfastly considers not a date.

Pretty Girl
a/n: Okay, I haven't written a legit fanfic in years so I'm so nervous publishing this. Any feedback would be appreciated. Also I was thinking of making a part 2, lmk if any one would like me to
warnings: none, just fluff, maybe annoying mutual pining. also probably a few mistakes. I didn't thoroughly proof read this
word count: 1.9k
summary: Dustin can't stop talking about the sub he got to fill in for Lucas, making Steve want to smash his head into a wall. That is, of course, until he sees you.
PART 2 HERE PART 3 HERE
disclaimer: reader is 18 and a senior in high school
Tumblr media
Steve was losing his mind. He loved Dustin Henderson as if he were his little brother, but he might just strangle him at this very moment. First, he would not stop talking about Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson and now he won’t shut up about the substitute they had to bring into their little nerd club to play their little nerd game.
“… she’s just so cool! She had no idea how to play, Mike and I gave her a quick lesson before the session and then she goes and lands a crit hit on the most powerful dark wizard of all time!” Dustin was so impressed he couldn’t see that Steve wasn’t even really paying attention anymore, choosing to stack the new releases in alphabetical order instead. “She’s so pretty too” Dustin sighed “and nice.”
“Is Dustin still talking about that girl he forced to play Dungeons and Dragons?” In walked Robin from the back room. She sat down behind the counter. “Hasn’t stopped.” Were the first words Steve had said in the last twelve minutes.
“I did not force her!”
Dustin had found you sitting alone at the very back of the library whilst writing an essay for your English class. You were one of the maybe four students that were in there. Most of your peers excited for the basketball game that day after school. Dustin had realized he had seen you before and almost all the times he had seen you, you were alone. The boy figured asking you would be a win-win; this way you could maybe gain some more friends and he wouldn’t have to die. He rushed towards you, rambling about hellfire and getting his ass kicked by Eddie before he knew it you were agreeing to help. In all honesty, it wasn’t very easy for you to agree. Your stomach twisting at the thought of being in a room full of people you didn’t know but saying no to this boy somehow seemed worse; like killing a unicorn or something.
After agreeing, Mike and Dustin sat with you in the library and helped you create a character sheet, explaining the basics of DND in the short period of time before the session. You were never really expecting to have fun. In fact, you were fully expecting for your character to die immediately. When she didn’t you started to pay more attention. The excitement around you fueling your own. It was nice to be a part of something, surrounded by people that loved something so much made you feel warm and happy. You had never felt so at ease, comfortable doing something out of your comfort zone.
“Yeah? So, cornering (y/n) in the school library the way Steve does every female customer was the ethical thing to do?” Robin said.
“Dude! I don’t corner anyone.” Steve looked up indignantly from the VHS tapes at Robin.
Robin rolled her eyes and continued her scolding. “You know she was gonna say yes, she’s the nicest person I know. I don’t think I’ve ever heard her say the word no.”
Steve was listening to them argue about whether Dustin dragged you to the nerd meeting or not when he heard the door to the video store open. His eyes landed on you walking through the door. The prettiest girl he’s ever seen walking into the fluorescent lit store. Lips parted as you tried catching your breath from the bike ride there. Steve felt like he forgot how to act like a human being, not even being able to execute his usual greeting or offer a charming smile. He watched you look around the store. Pretty eyes scanning until they landed on something behind Steve. You raised your hand to give a small wave. A wave he almost returned had Dustin not spoken up.
“(y/n). hey!” Dustin said as he walked over to the front of the register, right beside Steve. He had his eyes fixed on you, stare unwavering as you made your way toward Dustin and himself. Your eyes flicked over to Steve, acknowledging him with the cutest smile he had ever seen. Steve was never this awestruck by something as simple as a smile but he wished he could tattoo your smile to the inside of his eyelids so he could never forget it.
“Hi (y/n).” Robin was the next person to greet you.
“Hi Robin, I didn’t know you worked here.” He finally heard you speak and Steve never thought a voice could be so sweet.
“You know me, never one to brag.” A small giggle escaped your lips and if he thought your voice was sweet your laugh was like cotton candy; soft and pillowy. He couldn’t help but want to make you laugh for the rest of his life. Robin watched Steve look at you with the dumbest look she’s ever seen on his face, which is saying a lot. She genuinely had to bite back a laugh. “You know the hair, right?” Robin nodded her head towards Steve. That was his queue he had to get rid of the heart eyes and turn on the charm. You looked up at him which is when it finally clicked. He recognized you from his time at Hawkins High. Remembered you walking the halls alone with your head down most of the time. He never thought too much about you back then, which right now he regretted greatly, distracted with his douchebag friends and his relationship with Nancy to ever really notice most people.
“Yeah, I remember Steve.” You nodded your head. “Hello.” The hint of another smile on your lips. He so desperately had to hold himself back from hugging you. He wanted to be close to you, to hold you. Steve really didn’t understand what had gotten over him. Sure, he had liked girls before but being this whipped so immediately was definitely new to him.
“Hi, sweetheart.” He tried licking moisture back onto his lips, but his mouth was dry. He leaned back onto the counter and smiled. Trying his best to be as smooth as possible. He didn’t want to look at Robin or Dustin, mostly because that meant having to look away from you but also because he knew the look on their faces right now would be one of disgust.
The skin on your face started feeling incredibly warm. You had never spoken to Steve when he was in school, to be fair you hadn’t spoken to many people but speaking to King Steve seemed an impossible task. He was like art at the museums you liked to frequent, beautiful but untouchable.
Dustin removed his gaze from Steve whilst shaking his head and placed it back on you. “What are you doing here?” He asked. Right, you came here for something. What was that something? The brief interaction with Steve was enough to make you slightly lightheaded. You started nipping at the inside of cheek, rummaging through your head.
“Oh, I accidentally took your DND notebook yesterday. It said return if found and then your address was inside, which by the way I think is an awful idea. There are weird people out there, Dustin. You have to be more careful.” Steve and Dustin making eye contact, both thinking about the irony of telling Dustin to be safe. You reached for his notebook inside your messenger bag. “When I got to your house your mom said you might be here.” You took a few steps, offering him his journal. Now close enough to be able to smell Steve’s cologne, your gaze drifted for a second up to his face and he was looking down at you. The second your eyes met, he smiled, making you look away abruptly. He was making you way more nervous than usual. Your hands were getting clammy, and your breath was a little shaky. Steve Harrington was so beautiful. You always knew this but you had never had the honor of being this close to him.
“Dude, this is like the second time you’ve saved my life!” Dustin grabbed the notebook with a wide smile. You let out a small laugh. This kid’s smile was infectious, no matter the situation, if Dustin smiled you smiled. Those are the rules.
“Trying my best.” You closed your bag whilst taking a few steps back. Trying to make some distance between you and Steve, hoping to any God he couldn’t see your shaky hands. “Right. I’ll just get going then.” As the words left your mouth Steve started to panic. He can’t just let you leave. He had only said two words to you. His brain going on over drive trying to think of ways to get you to stay even a little longer. He looked outside at your bike and then at the dark clouds in the sky. It was definitely going to start raining soon.
“Wait!” He said this a little louder than anticipated. He cleared his throat as you turned your head to look at him. He smiled softly as he looks at your eyes again. He thinks he could look at your eyes all day. “You just got here; you should hang around with us. It’s for sure going to start raining soon. I can’t let a pretty girl get caught riding her bike in the rain.” Dustin snickered and Steve elbowed his shoulder immediately to get him to shut up. The taller boy watched as your eyes widened slightly at the use of the word pretty. You were so cute it was driving him crazy.
“Yeah, dingus is right. You should stay, besides tonight’s movie night. You can join us at Steve’s house. We’re gonna pig out on junk and watch horror movies. Steve is going to drive us all home after, he’s our trusty chauffeur.” Steve looked at Robin as she spoke, and he swears he could’ve planted a kiss on her forehead right then and there. Robin looked at him for a second with a small smirk on her face.
You fiddled with the strap of your bag as you thought about it. It would really suck to be caught in the rain, besides this could be fun right? You said yes to DND and that was fun. Doing things you wouldn’t normally do seemed to be working for you so why stop now? Of course, this had nothing to do with the way your heart raced when Steve looked at you or the way you really wanted to be in his presence longer or how pink and shiny his lips looked or how you wondered what his hand would feel like holding your hand.
“I would really like that.” You smiled at Robin and then turned to look at Steve. “If that’s okay with all of you.” This was directed more at Steve than it was to Dustin. There was a moment of silence as Steve stared at your pretty face, a smile adorning his features making him look like a lovesick puppy. It was Dustin’s turn to elbow the idiot to his left. That was enough to break the trance.
“Of course it’s okay with us. Right Dustin?” He glared at the boy that just assaulted him.
Dustin nodded his head. “It’d be an honor to have you at our movie night, (y/n).” Steve reached over to pat his younger friend on the shoulder.
“It’s set then.” He said, more excited for it to reach closing time than he has ever been.

It is my biggest pet peeve when (mostly) straight people try to make queer people feel guilty for shipping two same gender characters together or say it's problematic to ship them, so I've made a little list debunking their ideas. I'll be talking a lot about Byler but this also applies to Elmax, Ronance, Steddie and queer ships in general.
"Why can't people be friends anymore?" Why can't a guy and a girl be friends either? Why aren't you saying this about Chrissy and Eddie shippers? Unless the issue is that they're gay.
"You're assuming Will is gay based on stereotypes!" Of course, the horrible stereotype that gay guys like men but not women, how problematic of me.
"You're fetishizing children!" No one says this about M*leven shippers. The fact that you view a queer relationship as inherently sexual and adult is sexualising young people much more than shipping Will and Mike does.
"Men will be scared to be affectionate to their friends in real life in case people think that they're gay!" First of all, I doubt some straight guy is going to stop hanging out with his friend because some random person on the internet drew Steddie fanart. And second of all, why are we treating straight men's fear of being perceived as gay as a perfectly valid and normal fear? (I elaborate a bit on this point in the reblogs)
"Why is it okay to say Mike Wheeler is gay but not say Robin is straight? You're erasing his sexuality!" First of all, when did Mike say he's straight? Sure he said he loves Eleven (which I doubt he does anyways) but bi people exist. Plus, there are so many straight characters and ships out there. Straight people don't look up lists of shows with canonical queer representation or watch a show because it has a straight girl in it. Lesbians like myself look up to characters like Robin and they are meaningful to them. No straight person feels seen in their heterosexuality because of Mike Wheeler. The only exception in my opinion is when people headcanon straight characters who are dating trans people as bi like Tao from Heartstopper because that comes off as transphobic.
"They're too young to know that they're gay and you're forcing a sexuality on them." I've known I'm gay since I was eleven or twelve which is the age they are in S1. And yet again, why aren't you saying this about straight people! Everyone accepted that Dustin and Lucas liked Max in S2. Yet Will is too young to know who he likes... Interesting.
"Grown adults wanting two young boys to kiss each other is pretty weird." The issue with this is again the hypocrisy. Adult M*leven shippers don't get told this. Mike kissed Eleven in S1 and it was completely cute and non-sexual because they are children so of course it isn't sexual. Hell they even made out when they were 13 and no one complained. Why would that be any different if he kissed Mike instead of Will? Yet again, people view queer people as being inherently sexual but queer people get cute little crushes or want to kiss people sometimes too. It's not a sexual thing. It's the exact same as a straight person doing it.
Anyways that's my rant done. It just annoys me when half of their arguements saying why it's wrong to ship these characters are just masked homophobia, even if the person saying it doesn't realize. Feel free to add more to this in the reblogs, this is just what I've seen.

“My ears, guys! My innocent ears!” Dustin yelled, hands thrown up in disgust.
“All I said was I didn’t think Eddie was very kinky, is all,” you defended yourself.
“Gross!” Mike groaned. The rest of the Hellfire Club just tuned you out as they went back to preparing for the campaign. Eddie was known as the freak of Hawkins High but you had a feeling that was the only place he was a freak. You had no way of actually proving your theory…well there was one way…but you would never dare to venture there with Eddie.
You were his close friend and nothing more. The crush you had on him years before was snuffed out when you noticed how he would look at other girls, or more recently Chrissy Cunningham, and it was different than the way he looked at you. So you pushed down your feelings until they were nothing.
“Why don’t you just ask Eddie?” Lucas suggested.
“Ask Eddie what?” Eddie himself asked, finally joining the group.
“Nothing!” You shouted.
The group chuckled to themselves while Eddie eyed you all suspiciously.
“Uh okay, shall we begin then?” He asked. Everyone nodded and he took his seat on the throne. You couldn’t deny how good he looked sitting there, in control of the entire group. You couldn’t help but think about him having control over you in other situations, maybe even having sit on his throne while you su-
“Earth to (Y/N)!” Dustin yelled, snapping you out of your trance. Everyone was staring at you, waiting for you to roll the dice.
“Shit, sorry.” You tried to focus on the campaign but Eddie kept his eyes on you the entire night and kept making sure you were okay, claiming you seemed out of it and even offering to postpone the campaign, must to everyone’s dismay. You ensured him that you were fine and that he was just too much of a softie. You were determined to finish the night and get home to shake off the annoying tension that had settled within you.
After what seemed like an eternity, the campaign finally ended. You celebrated with your friends and hung around for a bit after. You chatted with Mike and Dustin while Eddie and the other guys talked in the corner. You swore you caught them glancing at you a few times but you tried to tell yourself you were just being paranoid.
You grabbed your bag and bid a farewell to your friends, making a beeline for the door. You had just barely exited the room when you felt someone grab your hand. You knew from the cool rings on your skin who it was.
“Eddie, what’s up?”
“I was wondering if you wanted to swing by my trailer later? I actually picked up a copy of that new horror flick you wanted to see at the video store today so I thought maybe you’d want to come by and watch it with me,” he said almost nervously. You smiled at the sweet man and nodded immediately.
“Yeah, I’d love that. Just let me run home real quick and I’ll meet you at your place, yeah?”
“Sounds like a plan,” he said with a huge grin. Having movie nights with Eddie was nothing unusual, having been good friends for a while now. His trailer was like a second home to you so you thought nothing of it when you knocked on the door after going home and changing.
After knocking again and getting no response, you decided to just go in. You knew his uncle wasn’t home and his van was there so you figured he just fell asleep.
“Eddie? Eds, are you here?” You called out. You walked into his room and saw that the bed was empty, but before you could turn back around an arm snaked around your waist and pulled you flush against their chest. “Jesus, Eddie! You scared me shitless!”
“My apologies, m’lady,” he said quietly. “Although you should be the one apologizing. You’ve greatly wounded me, (Y/N).” You tried to break free from his grasp but his arm was firm.
“What are you talking about, weirdo?” Your heart was racing as you waited for his answer.
“I heard that you think I’m vanilla and I’m very offended,” he said. Your stomach dropped and you swore vengeance on every one of those loud mouth nerds in the club.
“Eddie, I was joking,” you tried to laugh and move away, but once again his grip tightened.
“What makes you think I’m not a freak in the sheets, princess?” He asked. Goosebumps covered your skin when you heard the pet name fall from his lips. You were confused about what was happening but you didn’t hate it- in fact you liked the way he was displaying his dominance. His free hand snaked up and grabbed your throat, giving it a light squeeze. “I asked you a question.”
“I-I don’t know. I just know you’re not actually his hard-ass, freaky weirdo like everyone makes you out to be so I figured you’d be a gentleman in bed as well,” you admitted. You figured this was just some joke he was playing on you but you couldn’t stop the effect it was having on you.
“So you’ve thought about me in bed?” He asked, the cockiness evident in his voice.
“No!” He took the hand from your throat and swatted your ass.
“Don’t lie, sweetheart.”
“F-fine, yes,” you said.
“What did you think about?”
“Eddie-” He turned you around finally and and backed you against the wall.
“Tell me no right now and I’ll stop,” he whispered, staring deeply into your eyes. You hesitated and you saw doubt flash across his features. His grip on you loosened and he began to let go but you stopped him.
“I didn’t say no,” you said. He looked at you and said nothing so you repeated yourself. “I didn’t say to stop, Munson. Unless you’re just all talk and no action, proving my theory to be correct.”
Confidence appeared once more in his wolffish grin.
“Oh, baby, you’re gonna wish you never said that,” he chuckled. He hovered inches from your lips and your body yearned for him to kiss you. You heard him grab something metal but you couldn’t be bothered to look. Eddie moved you from the wall and threw you onto his mattress. You looked up at the wild haired man, who you noticed was holding handcuffs.
“Well are you just going to stand there or are you gonna do something?” You asked.
“I’m gonna put that sassy mouth to good use, is what I’m gonna do,” he answered. “Hands out in front of you.”
You gladly threw your hands out, allowing him to cuff you. He placed them above your head and instructed you not to move them. He quickly rid himself of his clothes and climbed over you so his cock was sitting inches from your lips.
“Open, pretty girl.” He tapped the tip against your bottom lip as he said it. You opened only slightly, not enough for him to slide in. He reached down and grabbed your face in his hand. “I’m gonna have to fuck some obedience into you, aren’t I?”
You opened your mouth to answer and he took the opportunity to slide his cock down your throat, earning a gag and wide eyes in response.
“Hmm that’s much better,” he chuckled before he started to fuck your mouth. He went slow at first, taking time the appreciate how your lips felt wrapped around his cock. If you only knew how many nights he had dreamt of this exact scenario.
You looked up at him through hooded eyes, pupils blown with lust as you hallowed out your cheeks. It caused his rhythm to falter and he snapped his hips into you a little too rough, your hands flying down to his waist. He was quick to pull out, a string of saliva still connecting your mouth to him. He pushed your hands back over your head and smiled.
“That’s your only warning, princess. Don’t move them again.” You nodded and opened your mouth again. He slid the entirety of his length down your throat, only stopping when his balls were snug to your chin. You did you best to take him as you knew he was testing you. Your eyes burned with tears threatening to escape as you waited for him to move. “Good girl.”
He pulled out and let you suck in a breath before resuming. You could tell he was getting close so you sucked harder, wanting to taste his release. He was moaning and whispering how well you were doing and you wanted to see him come undone. When he felt your lips tighten he pulled out with a pop. A whine escaped your lips and the cocky motherfucker laughed.
“So greedy,” he mumbled, running a thumb over your swollen lips. He opened your mouth and spit into it, making you even more wet than you ever thought possible. He decided the best way to get your shirt off was to rip it down the middle but you knew better to protest. He slid your shorts off of your body, leaving you in only a bra and panties. “So gorgeous. Do you know how long I’ve thought about this? Of the things I’ve wanted to do to you?”
“Don’t tell me what you want to do, show me,” you said. You brought your hands down without thinking and he grabbed them.
“Bad girl,” he smirked.
“But-”
“No buts, sweetheart, you disobeyed me.” You rolled your eyes at his comment and you saw his gaze darken. He didn’t break eye contact with you while he slid his hand down your body and into your panties. You hissed from the coolness of his rings against your warm skin as he rubbed slow circles on your clit.
“Eddie, you haven’t even kissed me yet,” you whined. He leaned down like he was going to but stopped, ghosting his lips over yours. You desperately wanted him to kiss you while he slid a finger, then two, into you. You tried to close the remaining distance between you but his free hand was quick to push you back down. His hand remained on your throat as a warning.
“Good things happen to good girls, and you’ve been bad. So be a good girl and just focus on my fingers fucking that tight little cunt.” His words sent shockwaves through your body. His fingers did feel amazing stretching you out, pumping into you until his rings teased your clit.
Your climax was already beginning to build and was only spurred on when his thumb rubbed your clit. Your back arched in pleasure but you made sure to keep your hands above your head. Your pussy began to clench his fingers and he knew you were close. Just as you were about to cum, Eddie halted his actions completely.
“What the fu-”
“Only good girls get to cum.” He pulled off your panties completely and groaned at the sight of your dripping pussy. He slowly began to pump his fingers into you again, building up your release once more. “That was for moving your hands when I told you not to.” His pace quickened, his thumb circling your sensitive nerve once more. “Have you been a good girl since?”
“Yes, Eddie! Please!” You begged. You could feel your walls fluttering again, praying he would let you cum this time. You were almost there when-
“Ah, ah, ah. But you tried to kiss me,” he said, pulling his fingers from you.
“Fuck you, Munson,” you cried at the loss of contact.
“Hmm that wasn’t very nice, (Y/N). I think that earned you one more time,” he said with a smirk, bringing his fingers back but not touching you.
“No, please! I’m sorry!” You quickly said. “Please, I’ll be good just fuck me.” He pulled his hand away and bit his lip, drinking in the sight of you almost completely naked in his bed- handcuffed- begging for him to fuck you. He could’ve sworn it was a dream but no dream he had had before was ever as good as this.
“You’re that desperate for my cock, princess? You want me to fill you up?” He asked, lining up with your entrance.
“Fuck, yes, Eddie. I’ve wanted that for so long,” you told him. He pushed just the tip in and paused.
“How long?”
“Fuck, since I met you.” He pushed in a little more, making you moan.
“And do you still think I’m vanilla?”
“Jesus Christ, Eddie. No, you’re not vanilla!” He finally bottomed out inside of you and stilled. He unlocked your handcuffs and as soon as he did your hands were around his neck and he was thrusting into you mercilessly. Your fingers threaded into his hair while he sucked hickies onto your neck.
You felt that familiar feeling building inside of you once again and you worried that Eddie would stop. You tried to compose yourself as best you could; maybe if he didn’t know you were going to cum he wouldn’t stop. But Eddie was smarter than that. He could tell by the way your breathing changed and your cunt tightened that you were close.
“Hold on for me, baby girl. Not yet,” he grunted. You thought his trailer might fall apart at the hinges with how hard he was pounding into you. And you were certain that the entire neighborhood knew what was going on.
Eddie grabbed one leg and hooked it over his arm, putting you at a slightly new angle.
“Fuck, that’s it,” he moaned. “Cum for me, sweetheart. Cum on my cock.” His words sent you over the edge and you felt like your entire body might combust. Waves of pleasure rolled over you and Eddie finally crashed his lips to yours in a heated kiss. You decided then and there you never wanted to stop kissing him.
His hips lost their rhythm as he tried to prolong your orgasm for as long as he could. You had never felt so good in your entire life. When he was satisfied, he pulled out and broke the kiss.
“Open up for me again, pretty girl,” he said, cock pressed to your lips. You eagerly took him in your mouth and sucked him off. He didn’t last much longer, his cum coating your tongue. You swallowed every last drop until he collapsed next to you.
You both laid there staring at the ceiling, nothing but your breathing filling the room. You were debating confessing your feelings for him but you didn’t want to risk the embarrassment if that was nothing more than a one time thing for him. Maybe that’s why he didn’t kiss you until the end, because kissing was too intimate for a fling.
Your inner turmoil must’ve been apparent on your face because when Eddie turned to look at you he could tell something was up.
“You know, people usually look happier after sex,” he chuckled. “Was that okay? Was I too much? I would’ve stopped if I knew-”
“No, it was great! You were great! I was just lost in my thoughts is all,” you said.
“I’m surprised you can form any thoughts after that five star fucking,” he smirked. You rolled your eyes and laughed.
“You’re good, Munson, but not that good.”
“Is that so?” He asked with an exaggerated gasp. He rolled over so that he was half on top of you. “I’ll just have to do better next time.”
“Sooo… there’s gonna be a next time?” You asked nervously. He reached a hand up to caress your face.
“I would really like there to be a next time. And a time after that and a time after that,” he said. You smiled and he kissed you, slow and sweet. “I’ve liked you for a really long time, I just never had the guts to say anything because you’re like way out of my league.”
“You’re such an idiot, Eddie,” you laughed.
“It’s true! When I saw you sitting alone in the cafeteria all those years ago I went up to you with the intention of asking you out, but then you smiled at me and my heart literally stopped and I just chickened out. So I figured having you as my friend was better than nothing but lately it’s gotten so hard to keep my feelings to myself. So when the guys told me what you said I figured it would be a good opportunity to say something but then it just escalated into something so much more amazing and um yeah I really like you.”
“Well for starters we’re gonna need new club members because I’m going to kill all of them for being loud mouthed assholes,” you sighed. “I was actually really disappointed when you never asked me out. I figured you just didn’t like me that way and just saw me as one of your nerdy friends.”
“Dustin and Mike actually mentioned a while ago that you had a crush on me but I never believed them. And you being my nerdy friend is just a bonus. But hopefully now you’ll be my nerdy girlfriend?” He asked, eyes filled with hope.
“I’d love to, Eddie.” He kissed you again and you melted into him. You never thought you’d be with someone so perfect, or perfect for you at least. And as much as you wanted to kill the guys for running their mouths, you also had to thank them for giving you guys the push you both needed.
“So you have a thing for freaks, huh?” He asked with a smirk.
“If that’s as kinky as you can get, I’d hardly call you a freak,” you challenged. He raised his eyebrows at your statement then chuckled darkly.
“Oh baby, you haven’t seen anything yet.”

Happy Tuesday! :) Could I possibly request something where Eddie is trying to gather the courage to confess his feelings to the reader? Maybe Wayne or the Hellfire boys hype him up and help him practice what he’s going to say?
hi! happy tuesday to you too and yes you can!! i hope u like it and that it’s kind of what you were thinking! enjoy :D | 1k words and fem!reader
Eddie had a crush.
A big, fat crush that all of his friends, even his uncle, knew about. He thought about it all of the time. He wanted to go on dates and take care of someone and be fucking soft. How strange was that?
He had a crush on you.
You were the prettiest girl he’s ever seen, the kindest smile and eyes that he wanted on his. You were never mean to him, never called him a freak like everyone else did. In fact, he’s heard you defend him multiple times.
“You don’t even know him.”
“He’s a good person.”
“If you actually knew him, you would never say that.”
What’s even worse is that you’re even kind when you try to be stern, your voice soft despite the conviction in your tone. He thinks you’re really, really cute.
He considers you a friend, but he knows he wants more. He wants to kiss you and hold you and walk around with his arm around you so the assholes at school stop looking at you.
“Dude, you’re staring again,” Gareth snaps Eddie out of it.
“Shit, sorry. What were you saying?”
He tries to pay attention this time, he really does, but he hears you laugh and he has to turn his head to see it. It’s sweet, the soft cloud of cotton candy if it was a sound. God, he has it so bad.
“You should just tell her,” Gareth doesn’t bother with his story anymore.
“She won’t feel the same. No way.”
“Do you hear the way she talks about you? And when you two are around each other. Come on! It’s so obvious.”
“Maybe.”
The two boys make their way to Hellfire, Eddie listening to Gareth go on and on about how he should just be honest and talk to you, but he can’t. He’s too scared. You’ll turn him down and then he won’t get to talk to you at all. He prefers the moments he has with you already than that.
The night's campaign goes as usual, some yelling, some laughing, and Eddie having way too much fun getting to DM for it all. It’s his favorite thing to do, an escape, really. And things only got better when Dustin, Lucas, and Mike joined. He saw himself in them, especially Dustin, and they were great additions.
It goes as usual until the door opens and everyone’s heads turn to see you standing there.
“Oh my god. Sorry,” you turn around and shut the door, embarrassed as you lean against the wall.
Eddie’s eyes are wide, and he doesn’t say anything, simply stares at the door where you just stood. He’s itching to get up, to go after you and talk to you and tell you it’s okay, you’re welcome anytime.
“For god's sake just go ask her out,” Dustin says what everybody’s thinking, though he says it in that tone of his that makes him sound annoyed, which he probably is, at this point.
Eddie’s been talking about you forever and they’re all sick of it, as great as you seem. The whole of Hellfire agrees with Dustin, chanting ‘do it, do it’ until Eddie shushes them and finally stands and pushes his way out the door.
He startles you, and you startle him. He wasn’t expecting you to be standing right next to the door with your head in your hands muttering something to yourself that sounded a lot like ‘stupid, he doesn’t like you’ and he can’t stop himself from hoping you want him to like you. You weren’t expecting anyone to come out and look for you, and you can’t help but stare at Eddie while he does the same to you.
You’ve liked him since you met him. He’s energetic and charming in his own, unique way. The way he spoke drew you to him, the way his eyes were always shining and sweet like a puppy. His long hair and his rings and tattoos. He was, to you, perfect.
“Oh. Hi,” Eddie says it quietly, like he’s nervous.
“Hi. I’m so sorry for walking in, I forgot Hellfire was today,” you’re looking down, feet kicking back and forth against the ground.
“No, no. It’s okay.”
“Okay.”
You wait for him to say something else, because he looks like he’s going to, but he doesn’t. So you turn to walk away with a small ‘bye, then.’
“Wait!” He stops you, a hand around your wrist. You like the way it feels when he touches you, even the slightest bit.
“I wanted to ask you something.”
“Yeah?” You look at him, eyes roaming around his face and the way he licks his lips and takes a deep breath before talking again.
“Do you want to maybe go out sometime.. with me?”
“Seriously?”
He’s even more nervous now, because he doesn’t know if you’re surprised that he asked you out in a good way or if it’s negative.
“Um, yeah. I really like you. A lot, and I want to take you on a date if you’ll let me. I’m sorry if I just sprung it on you but I had to get it out.”
You surprise him this time by taking his face in your hands and forcing him to look at you.
“Hey. I like you too. I’d love to go out.”
“You would?”
“I would,” you nod.
He can’t stop himself, he kisses you then. Your hands stay on his face and his hold your waist. He feels like he might be dreaming because you’re kissing him back and it’s even better than anything he ever dreamt of. It’s broken up by your smiles and giddy laughs, but it’s amazing, nonetheless.
That night, after he kissed you some more and said goodbye and left you his number, after he finished Hellfire and tried to stop himself from blushing (and failing) when they all cheer after finding out a date has been secured and feelings have been returned, he goes home the happiest he’s been.
Wayne notices.
“What’s got you all smiley, boy?”
“Got a date.”
“With that girl you never shut up about?”
Eddie nods, his face heating up because he never realized he talked about you that much. He thinks it might only get worse after tonight. He knows how you kiss and he won’t ever forget it. The smile is still on his face.
“Yeah, she likes me, too.”

“Okay and turn right here”
“Here?”
“Yes babe here!”
It was hard for Steve to hear your directions due to the people in the back of the Volkswagen (that you and Steve rented for this particular trip) were talking a little too loud just for them to be 2 inches away from each other. “Y/n did you get my sandals?”. “Yes I have them in the front with me!” You shouted back to Max so that he could hear you, “oh wait did you get my towel too?”. “I brought an extra one so yes I did!” This time you shouted back to Lucas, “and what about my sunscreen?”. “I have everything that you guys need with me!” You responded to Mike loudly while also talking to everyone to prevent them from asking any further questions.
“How long is this ride gonna take, you know it's hot back here!?” Robin says with an annoyed grunt while moving around, “we're like 5 minutes away just give me a second okay!” Steve replies back to Robin with an annoyed tone. Steve has trouble with being able to concentrate at multiple things at once, he tends to get frustrated or he starts feeling pressured, that's why you're always around, to prevent Steve from blowing up on the kid or even Robin and Eddie.
“Here Robin is the air hitting you know?” You say while moving your air fan towards the back in hopes that it reaches to her. “A little, I would feel more if Eddie's hair wasn't making me claustrophobic!” Robin sounds even more cranky but you couldn't blame her, she was in the very back with a guy who only gets a haircut every 7 months and to top it all, there was a whole lot of movement In Front of her that prevented any access of air going towards her.
“Well beauty takes up space, we already talked about this!” Eddie responds back to robins complaints, he seems to be the only one that doesn't seem physically bothered with his overgrown hair. “Here take one of these” you reach your hand out as far as you can to give Eddie a rubber band, “no that's gonna make my hair look bad at the beach, no girl is gonna want me with my hair up, why else do you think I grow it out!” Eddie replies back while pushing your hand away from his direction to deny your offer. “Well no woman is gonna like your hair being a mess while looking like you haven't showered in weeks” you say to Eddie while moving your hand back to his direction while also trying to dodge your arm from hitting any of the kids heads. Eddie finally took up on your offer and snatched it out of your hand while pouting a little and mocking you under his breath,
“That's true, honestly man, what conditioner do you use cause Jesus, that thing is a bird nest!” Steve butts in the conversation while looking at Eddie through the rear view mirror, “Clubman but that's cause it's always on clearance so I work with what I can get” Eddie moves his head as he talks to Steve to show that he's trying to give him attitude, “that's why, you should use the one that Steve uses, he uses this shampoo called Fa- HEY!” Your sentence was rudely cut off due to Lucas pushing himself through the little gap between you and Steve to get the bag full of snacks that sat on your lap, “sorry excuse me” Lucas says before he sits back down and opens the bag for Dustin and Max to see and grab what they want. “Hey no no no half of those are robins and Eddie's, don't eat them” Steve tries to stop the kids from eating what's not theirs, “yea guys, half of those are mine come on!” Robin says while trying to see and check that none of the kids take her candy, “y/n! Get your kids, they're practically robbing me!” Eddie screams out to you while trying to grab any candy from Dustin's hands.
“Hey, give me the bag”. “Okay just give me a second”. “Guys give her the bag!”. “That one's mine STOP EATING IT!”. “Let me have one!” chaos broke loose over candy, everyone was screaming and talking to each other at the same time, Eddie and Robin were moving in their seats to get a closer chance of getting their candy back from the greedy kids, Mike, El and Will were complaining about Robin and Eddie hitting their heads with their grabby arms and hands while you were yelling at max, Lucas, and Dustin for not listening to Steve and the other 2 adults while also trying to prevent them from eating more candy. Steve wasn't sure if he liked the commotion, he sure didn't like it while driving but he knew that it wouldn't be a perfect road trip without an argument breaking out over something little such as candy.
“OH WOW LOOK AT THAT WE'RE HERE!”
Steve says loudly which grabs everyone's attention, that one sentence has everyone go quiet and look out the windows. Hawkins was the most boring town known, I mean any new folks only go there for a bathroom break to Disneyland so something as basic as the beach was thrilling to everyone including you and Steve. The moment of calmness and quietness was soon over when Dustin and Max opened their side doors to run out. “Woah woah hey guys hold on!” Steve says frantically in hopes of slowing down everyone from getting out of the car, but no one listened to him instead they just kept getting out of the car until it was just you and Steve left, “they never listen to me” Steve sighs and unbuckles his seat belt to get out, he then goes to your side of the car and opens to door for you and help you carry anything that you needed help with. The kids seemed to have found a perfect spot that was not too far from the water but not too close.
you and Steve watch everyone set their towels down onto the sand from afar, “you know what Max told me” you say to Steve to start up a conversation, “if it has something to do with my bathing suit then dont bother, her and lucas already made fun of me enough” Steve says while moving his left arm (since his right hand is dragging along a cooler filled with refreshing drinks) around to make awareness to himself that his swim suit is a joke to the kids, “what? No….well..” you look Steve up and down
“Okay maybe your bathing suit is a little funny” you giggle at Steve which causes him to laugh as well, “no but max told me that she always wanted to go to the beach since coming to Hawkins cause that's the only thing that reminds her of California” you say while squinting your eyes a little to look up at Steve, “is that why you planned this trip? To make Max happy?” Steve questions you, “I want her to feel at home in Hawkins, and with us since we're basically the only ones she has left” you respond back as you watch Max and Robin move Lucas's and Mike's towels and replace it with theirs.
“You know she looks up to you right?” Steve breaks your stare from Max and Robin and you turn to him, “she also looks up to you too, she told me she sees you as her older brother” you look at Steve to see him smile. Steve is an only child (it's pretty obvious) so for him to hear that he's an older brother to someone's eyes, it makes his heart jump from excitement, “they're annoying and all but I still love them you know”
“What purpose would we serve if we don't become role models to these knuckleheads” you say as you gesture your head towards the group of people that you and Steve would kill for. Both of y'all finally catch up to where everyone was at, “Jesus can y'all walk any slower” Mike complains and moves to reach for the bag that hangs around your wrist but you pull your arm away before he can grab it, “hey you should be thankful I bought your stupidly expensive sunscreen, I mean who needs a specific type of sunscreen that costs more than $3!” You complain back to Mike while you dig in the bag filled with supplies in attempt of finding Mike's ‘special’ sunscreen, “I have delicate skin okay I can't help that” Mike moves his arms around dramatically, “how many times do I have to tell you, your skin isn't delicate it's all in your mind” you let out a sigh before handing Mike his bottle of sunscreen which he rudely snatches away from your hand but before he can walk off Steve hits him in the back of his head, “hey have some manners, you're only here cause El’s here so be grateful!” Steve raises his voice at Mike so that he can hear him but he was already walking away from you and Steve while rubbing his head.
After everyone got themselves situated and set all their belongings down in their own area, the kids ran into the water while Robin and Eddie moved not too far away from you and Steve to play and build with the sand. You have your bikini on and your sunglasses and right when you're about to lay down to finally enjoy the breeze, a heavy breathing and soaking wet teen runs up to you (which causes you to lift your sunglasses up to look up at him). “hey uh me and my friends wanted to know if you'd like to play volleyball with us over there” he points to a group of teenage boys standing and waiting there awkwardly, “um…no thank you I just wanna relax for today” you reject the teens offer before lowering your sunglasses down over your eyes, “okay um….” The teen stands there quietly before talking again “can I maybe get your number and we can hang out sometime?” this causes you to laugh, “Jesus dude take a hint and besides you're like 15, I'm too old for you alright so stay in school and go play with your geek friends'' you wave him off but before the teen boy can make any more comments to defend himself someone butts in, “babe do you need help with putting sunscreen on your back?” Steve makes his appearance known as he walks up to you with a sunscreen bottle in his hand, “yes please” you reply to Steve's offer before sitting up straight and giving the teen boy a smug look, “you know this kid?” Before Steve applies sunscreen onto his hand, he points a finger towards the teen who was still standing there, “oh no he was just leaving” you say and this time you wave at him in a mocking gesture, he walks off towards his friends who were laughing at him. “jesus you didn't seem to change since highschool” Steve laughs at your mockery towards the kid while rubbing sunscreen on your back, “sometimes I gotta bring the old me back you know” you mumble due to you enjoying the little message that Steve is giving you as he applies sun protection on your back.
Steve then finishes up your back and he lays flat on his stomach waiting for you to do the same gesture towards him. Yours and Steve's relationship was always equal, for Valentine's Day he'll get you something and you'll make him something, at restaurants y'all both would split the bill, when eating food you'll give half to Steve and he would give half to you. So Steve didn't have to ask you if you can put sunscreen on his back, he kinda just expected that you would and you would've expected the same for him if you were in Steve's position right now.
You straddle Steve's hips and sit on his butt. You apply sunscreen on your hand and rub them together to get the cream warm since you knew that Steve flinches and complains when you don't make any type of lotion warm before putting it onto his back. As you put pressure onto Steve's back, he starts to groan. You make sure that the sunscreen is all over his back but you didn't get off him but instead you continued massaging him. Steve deserved a massage due to always being booked and busy with work or the bills or even the kids, so you're hoping that your massage helps him feel relaxed while at the beach.
You finish massaging him after a while and once you get up from sitting on his lower back half, he slowly rises up with a face that looks like he just woke up from the best nap. “Jesus I really needed that thank you” Steve says now fully sitting up and stretching his arms, “you were looking stiff anyways so I couldn't help but loosen you up” you reply back with a teasing smile “oh God what did I just walk into?!” Eddie walks towards you and Steve with Robin following behind him, “you perv we weren't trying to sound like that” Steve gives Eddie a disgusted face for having his head in the gutter. “Yea sure hey um we're kinda hungry” Robin moves next to Eddie while swinging her arms forward and backwards, “you guys are old enough to make your own sandwich” you tell both Robin and Eddie while gesturing towards the bag and cooler filled with enough supplies to make a sandwich, “oh but I bet if we were any of your scrawny kids then you would've made us a sandwich” eddie replies back to you while pointing towards the kids and moving his head in a sassy way, you look to where eddie was pointing and see all the kids walk out of the water and head towards y'all.
“Oh look what you did now, you summoned them” Steve shakes his head as he watches the group of soaked kids walk to y'all, “I guess I'm making sandwiches” you sigh before getting up and setting everything that you needed up onto a table (that Eddie brought). “Y/n we're hungry”. “Can we eat the sandwiches now?”. “Y/n can you make me a sandwich!?”. “Oh can you make me one too please!?” The kids were now bugging you like you were their mom's and you're already used to their constant complaining and bickering so you did what every ‘mom’ would do, “alright everyone line up no cutting- HEY Eddie, I said no cutting get to the back!” You kept clapping your hands together to have the kids move faster while forming a line. As every kid came up with a towel wrapped around themselves while standing in a single file line, Steve was getting their drinks and chips ready for them to take and sit down. “Can I have mine with no mayonnaise please”. “Yea I know, no mayonnaise and no pickles” you say as you just add ham and cheese to Will's sandwich, “i want mine with no cheese and no mustard?”. “That's how you ask?”. “Oh can I please have no cheese and no mustard” you already had the sandwich set up and you give it to Mike but not after mocking his cranky face as he walks off. Everyone (including you and Steve) were now sitting down and eating y'all's sandwich with chips. “Ooo you know what sounds good right now?” Robin turns towards you, “what?”. “Watermelon” Robin says with an excited tone and smile, “I think we have one in the car, do we have one in the back of the car babe?” You then turn towards Steve who was eating his sandwich and zoning out, “huh?”. “Don't we have the watermelon in the back of the car?” You tell Steve twice knowing that he isn't the quickest thinker, “oh uh….I don't know, you want me to check?” Steve starts getting ready to walk to the car, “no no sit down, Hey Dustin”. “Yea?” Dustin responds to you calling his name (since he was the first one done eating), “can you do me a favor and check if we have watermelon in the back of the car please” you say with a cheeky smile, it was a smile that looked so nice and innocent and hard to say no to.
“....fine” Dustin lets out a sigh before throwing away his bag of chips and heading towards the car. Everyone goes back to their conversation while finishing up their sandwiches, “isn't your birthday coming up?” Max asks you, “oh yea next month” you say while nodding your head, “oh my God we should totally have a girl's night” El tells you and you just widen your eyes at her idea. You didn't have any sisters and you never had a girl's night so the idea excites you mostly when you're going to spend it with people who you dearly love. “I never had one, what would we do?” You say now fully engaged into the idea of a girl's night, “wait you never had one!?” Robin's face was fully shocked, “no why is that bad?” You say with curiosity, “oh no no that's not bad it's just that I thought you had one before, I mean what about all the girls you hung out with in highschool? You never had one with them?” Robin questions you due to the shock of you never having a day out with only girls, “no not really, I mean we would all hang out but they're boyfriends would be around so does that count?” You question the girls again. “no that's called a hang out, we're talking about a girl's night with no one else but us girls.” Max clarifies for you, “yea that means not talking about boys, no calling boys, and definitely no boys being invited” Robin says while eyeing Steve who was listening and watching y'all's conversation, “but I'm acceptable right?” No one answered Steve's question, not even you. “If you go then you're gonna hog y/n away and it'll just be me, max, and Robin” El was the only one that answered Steve's question, “I won't-” Steve couldn't even finish his sentence without being cut off and shut down from the girls, “yea you will”. “You most definitely will”. “Yes you would” with the girls ‘attacking’ Steve he looks at you waiting for you to defend him, “....anyways, do y'all go out or do y'all just go to someone's house?” You decided that it's best not to actually reply to Steve's question but instead go back to the previous conversation. Steve's face was filled with disbelief so he chose to listen and join in on someone else's conversation. “And that when the master comes in and proves to all the other peasants who the real king is but just before he can put his foot down he-....” Eddie stops his conversation with Lucas and Mike to turn his head towards Steve, “can I help…you?” Eddie raises his eyebrows at Steve, “oh me? No I'm just listening” Steve says as he moves his hand around to show Eddie that he can continue, “you wouldn't like it, let alone understand it” Eddie tells Steve and he takes it as a sign to just not join into their conversation anymore.
Steve sat in-between the 2 groups of people and he zoned out while staring at the ocean, his trance was soon broken when he felt someone's presence sit down next to him. He turns his head expecting to see you looking at him with a warm smile but instead it was Will, the least person that he talks to. Even though Steve didn't talk to Will that much, it didn't mean that he was uncomfortable around him, it was just that he wasn't sure what they had in common. “Hey…” Will says to Steve, “hey” Steve nods his head towards Will as a gesture of saying ‘whats up’. Will tries to hand Steve a small bag of chips but he kindly declines, “no thanks man, I ate too much junk today” Steve says before turning his head towards the ocean again, “what junk? I just saw you eat a sandwich with chips and a can of coke, that's nothing” Will scoffs at Steve, “yea well I gotta keep in shape for my lady” Steve repondes back to Will while turning his view from the ocean to you laughing with El and max covering robins mouth as if Robin was gonna say something she wasn't supposed to say. “you do know that she doesn't care if you lose weight or gain weight, she'll still go home with you” Will tells Steve as he opens and starts eating the bag of chips, “yea...that's why- i don't know, sometimes I feel like she's too good for me” Steve says as he still stares at you laughing with the girls, “you know what's crazy, she told me the exact same thing” Will looks at Steve with faint smile and Steve then finally looks at Will, “she said that? She told you that?” Steve knows that you have a strong bond with all the kids so he wasn't sure why he was surprised that you would tell Will something like that.
“Oh yeah, she talks about you a lot when you're not around and it gets annoying sometimes but it's also pretty cute” Will responds in a calm tone while Steve had a face full of shock, “what else does she tell you?” Steve now being more curious leans in closer to Will, “um… I don't know if I'm supposed to tell you” Will leans back a little thinking that he said a little too much than needed, “come on man I drove you here and besides it isn't anything bad, right?” Steve became more and more curious with Will not telling him what you talk about behind his back, “umm….I think she said something about not wanting 6 kids” Will says to Steve with a sour face as he watches Steve's eyes sadden, “oh…”
“Instead she only wants 3” With Will's response this causes Steve's eyes to lighten up with joy, “really?! What else?” Steve asks Will for clarification that he heard things right, “yea and she also said she wants to get married at-” Will didn't finish his sentence due to Dustin walking towards everyone while complaining and empty handed.
“I'm not doing it next time, Jesus that's a long walk. What the hell” Dustin lets out a huff of breath before sitting back down onto the sand. With everyone's attention towards Dustin, Steve grabs Will's attention back towards him to have him finish his sentence, “when does she want to get married!?” Steve is making direct eye contact with Will in hopes that he can answer Steve's question that he's been waiting for since 2 years. “Um… she said when she's-”. “Alright everyone I'm ready to go, it's starting to look a little cloudy!” you scream out to everyone so they can start packing their stuff up and heading back to the car. Will was quick to get up and away from Steve due to the pressure that he got from wanting to answer a basic question that was so important to Steve. This led to Steve sitting there in disbelief and a little bit of frustration, “babe come on help me with the bags please” you call Steve over to you, “yea Steve actually do something” max laughed at Lucas's statement since steve was in fact the only one not doing anything but Steve didn't find anything funny so he threw them both a glare which causes them both to laugh even harder. “Hey cut it out guys but seriously babe, help me out” you tell the kids and Steve while you grunt out of struggle of trying to hold all the bags in one, this causes Steve to move and help you.
With the help from everyone, things got put away quicker than expected, “wipe your feet'' Steve tells Dustin before he even steps a foot in the car, but Dustin being annoyed that he had to walk back and forth to the car, he decided to wipe his feet in the car while making eye contact to Steve. “On the outside not the inside!” Steve screams at Dustin before shoving his head in the car since he's already tired and worn out. Steve pulls out of the beach area and starts heading home, of course the kids (including Robin and Eddie) are going to freshen and clean themselves up at yours and Steve's house and if Steve's feeling chill then he'll even let them spend a night.
Everyone wasn't talking as loud as they were before, Mike and El are falling asleep on each other, Robin and Eddie are looking and daydreaming out the window, Max and Lucas are talking to each other, and Will and Dustin are jamming out to the music that was playing on the radio. With no one talking and everyone being in their own world Steve thought it would be the perfect time to bring up his unanswered question. “Um…you know a little birdie told me that you plan on having 3 kids, is that true?” Steve looks from the road to you back and forth just so he can see your reaction, “is that so? What else did this little birdie tell you?” You look at Steve while raising your eyebrows at him in a mocking way. Steve is a very curious person, he feels the need to know something even if it does change or affect him in any way and you've grown to get used to it mostly since in highschool he would constantly want to know who you would go on dates with. “Well the little birdie WAS going to tell me when you want to get married and I'm just curious cause you know I get like that…when do you actually want to get married?” Steve emphasizes the word ‘was’ and he looks at you now even more anxious to hear any sort of answer to his desperate question, “you really wanna know?” You still look at Steve while loving the way he looks back and forth from the road to you while also nodding his head frantically, it just shows that he really really REALLY wants to know. “Well I want to get married when I'm….” You look at Steve and before you can answer his question someone screams from the top of their lungs from the back of the car.
“I LEFT MY SANDALS!”

Second Choice
could you write angst to fluff where eddie told his friends he thought Chrissy was super beautiful but a few months later he ends up falling in love with the reader(who is Chrissy's best friend) so they start dating and when he’s telling his friends they start to make jokes about how he couldn’t get the girl he wanted so he settled for her bestie instead and reader overheard and her feelings get hurt?
Requested by anon
Warnings; angst to fluff, soft Eddie.
Like, comments and especially reblogs are very much appreciated 💞. I do not give anyone permission to copy my work.
Tumblr media
The Hellfire table was lively at lunch, talk of the next campaign was in full swing but the only person who was unusually quiet was Eddie.
Who was currently staring at the cheerleader table at none other than Chrissy Cunningham.
Garreth notices him staring and rolls his eyes.
"Dude". He nudges Eddie who comes out of his reverie.
"Chrissy is super beautiful don't you think?"
Dustin and Lucas smirk at each other while Mike joins Gareth and shakes his head amused.
"Yeah, yeah, you say that like every week man change the tune". Jeff chuckles and Eddie glares at them then finds his eyes trailing back to the cheerleading table.
Beside Chrissy is her best friend y/n, his heart skips a beat. How had he never noticed her before Jesus H Christ she was beautiful. She catches his eye and smiles at him.
He thinks that even his cynical heart could melt at that smile and suddenly Chrissy is driven out of his mind.
All that fills it now is y/n's beautiful eyes and pretty smile.
The first time Eddie comes up to her is at her locker, some stare at the two of them and whisper scandalised.
Idiots y/n huffs. She's never had a problem with Eddie or thought him to be a freak like Jason and the others did.
In fact, she thought he was really sexy, she loved how he didn't conform to others' expectations, he was funny and those brown eyes of his? Gorgeous.
She kinda always had a crush on him but he always had eyes for Chrissy. Was he here to ask her about her best friend? Disappointment fills her.
He surprises her.
"Hey, uh I know you're probably going to say no but would you like to go out sometime? Watch a movie? Some shit like that?".
His cheeks are tinged pink and it's so fucking cute because rarely has she ever seen Eddie nervous. In drama, he was always the star of the show.
"I'd love to Eddie". He gapes a little then smiles all dimples.
"Great, so we can go after school? It will be totally metal princess". Her heart flutters at his cute name for her and she watches him walk away with a giddy feeling in her stomach.
Eddie was very aware of the way that all of Hellfire was staring at him stunned, it was hard to focus on what was bothering them when he was thinking about y/n.
For two months they had dated and Eddie was in love. Crazy right? His cynical heart had melted from the minute he started hanging out with y/n.
Dates involved watching movies at her house or his trailer, she cooked the most incredible meals for her and him always saving some for Uncle Wayne who adored her.
They'd have nights where they would have sex and afterwards he would jam on the guitar until she fell asleep or they would work their way through the Hobbit and Lord of the rings.
He loved it and he loved her. Today he was going to tell the Hellfire boys if they would just stop staring.
"What?". He asks growing annoyed and Dustin gulps a bit but presses on with his question.
"Well, it's weird man, you haven't gushed about Chrissy in months". Really. That's why they were staring?
"Because I'm with someone Henderson, y/n, she's amazing".
Jeff frowns. "Isn't she like Chrissy's best friend?". What are they getting at?
"Yeah, and your point is dude?" He doesn't realise y/n approaching the table with a beaming smile on her face.
Gareth laughs. "Come on man, admit it. You were crushing on Chrissy for months. Oh, she's so beautiful blah blah blah and now you're with her best friend? You couldn't get the girl you actually want so you settled for her best friend?".
Eddie's stomach tightens in anger.
💞💫💞💫
She walks over to Eddie's lunch table. He was deep in conversation with the rest of Hellfire Club.
They had discussed telling his friends last night and hers. She had already told Chrissy and Robin who were both ecstatic for her and she was heading over to tell Eddie about that.
She stops when she hears his friend Gareth laughing.
Come on man, admit it. You were crushing on Chrissy for months. Oh, she's so beautiful blah blah blah and now you're with her best friend? You couldn't get the girl you actually want so you settled for her best friend?".
Dustin doesn't look impressed.
"Dude are you dating Y/n to get closer to Chrissy because that's not cool".
"Can't get the girl of your dreams so you date her bestie? Good one dude". Jeff sniggers.
Eddie really did like Chrissy? He thought Chrissy was super beautiful? Why was be with her then? Is what his friends were saying true?
Her heart shatters and she feels very hurt and seriously pissed off.
"Is that true Ed's? That's the only reason that you're dating me? As a second choice?". Eddie's head snaps up at hearing her voice, his eyes widen and he stands up.
"No, no the guys don't know shit. Jesus H Christ, I'm besotted with you princess". She sniffs wiping the tears away.
"But you did have a crush on Chrissy before?". He nodded and she shakes her head.
"So I am the second choice then?". He gapes but she rushes away before he can say anything or she hears him chew out his friends.
💞💫
"You morons". He yells at his friends who look guilty as hell.
"Eddie we...". Jeff begins to apologise.
"Shut up dude seriously. I gotta go find my girl and convince her that she's the only girl for me. I love y/n. Have been smitten since the moment I laid eyes on her. I'm over Chrissy completely. Y/n is the one for me".
With that, he storms off and goes to find y/n, luckily she hasn't gone far. She's in their spot deep the woods.
She's crying, his heart aches at the sound and he approaches her, kneels and takes her hands in his.
"Go away Eddie". He shakes his head and gently wipes her tears away.
"Sorry, princess. No can do. Gotta explain to my sweetheart that she's the only girl for me, the most beautiful, girl in the world and Yeah, I had a crush on Chrissy but I'm 100% over her. Have been since the minute I laid eyes on you".
Her crying stops and she peers up at him.
"You mean it?". He nods and kisses her forehead.
"I'm in love with you and only you. You're the only girl for me". She cups his cheek and he cuddles her close to him.
Her tense body relaxes and she sighs.
"I love you too Eds and hey I told Chrissy and Robin about us, they were really happy". He grins and strokes her hair.
"That's great princess. Now how about I introduce you properly to those dumbass friends of mine". He pulls her up and they walk hand in hand back to the school.
The boys apologise the minute y/n sits down which she accepts but doesn't want to hash it out, she would rather move past it and form good connections with them.
"Hey, why don't you guys tell me about the totally metal campaign Eddie is doing? I've helped him with bits and pieces of it. What do you all think?".
Settling on Eddie's knee she listens intently as the chatter grows animated and she's invited to her first ever Hellfire club.
For a second she's drawn to the way Eddie is gazing at her. Full of love and utter devotion.
She's his queen after all.

Steddie Notes Part 4 (Welcome to Steve's POV)
CW//small instance that could be viewed as internalized homophobia
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3)
In the bottom of Steve’s closet is a Nike shoe box. It’s full of a year’s worth of torn notebook pages, paper menus, receipts, envelopes, sticky notes, notepad sheets, invoice carbon copies, discarded things from dnd, and whatever else they could find to write on.
It's this box that contains every bit of Steve’s heart.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
Steve’s at the school to pick up Dustin, Mike and Lucas, but they don’t appear at 9pm on the dot like they promised. Grumbling and annoyed, Steve heads down to the drama club room.
He hears Eddie’s voice even before he walks into the room. The low baritone, all husky and threatening, sends shivers down Steve’s spine.
Steve strides into the room, ready to berate his kids for their tardiness, but he stops literally in his tracks when he sees Eddie. Eddie looming over the table, all that long curly hair framing his face; his expression uncharacteristically dangerous, his eyes flat and promising violence.
He can’t do anything but stare, mouth shocked wide. Eddie lifts his gaze, locks it on Steve. Eddie’s looking at him with such intense command, such focus, that Steve knows he’d drop to his knees for that look, give Eddie anything he asked, everything.
He wants. So hard and so fast it makes him a little nauseous.
Eddie’s gaze flicks away, while Steve reels from the striking clarity of feeling that rewrites the year of their friendship frame-by-frame.
Steve hardly listens, still trying to come to terms with his sudden realization, with how right it is, with how obvious it’s been this whole time. He remembers, after Starcourt, the way Eddie made him feel safe, cared for. The way Eddie calling him baby echoed for hours, days, weeks after.
Of course Eddie doesn’t miss Steve's distraction. He leans into Steve's space, murmuring softly, “You okay, sweetheart? Sorry we ran late. Lost track of time.”
“Just tired, I guess.," he says. And he is distinctly not okay, because Eddie is calling him sweetheart and how did it take him this long to realize how much he loves the pet names?
He tries to tell Eddie. Can’t. Too afraid of losing his friend.  He keeps going out with girls; nice girls, pretty girls, but wishes that Eddie was the one sitting beside him in the movie theater, in the passenger side of his car, across from him at the restaurant.
Eddie…I think I really like you
You’re my favorite person in the entire world
Some days you’re the only thing I can think about
I want to wake up in bed with you everyday
I can’t stop thinking about what it would be like to kiss you
Do you like me? Yes or No
✏️✏️✏️✏️
Steve’s in the Wheeler’s basement, leaning against Eddie's shoulder, waiting for the kids to finish up.
“What are they talking about?” He scribbles at the edge of Eddie’s campaign notes.
Eddie scowls at the note placement, responds anyway.
“Halloween costumes.”
“Wanna dress up together, Munson?”
“No way, Harrington, I’m not dressing up as Danny Zuko for you.”
“…obviously you’re Sandy.”
Eddie makes an offended noise.
“I could do end of the movie Sandy. But face it, baby, you’re the pretty, fresh-faced innocent and I’m the bad boy.”
Steve strangles back the sound he wants to make when his brain supplies him with an image of Eddie in those black, skin-tight pants.
“I could be a bad boy.”
Before Eddie can reply, the kids start shouting, and Eddie climbs on the wobbling card table, clapping his hands for attention.
“Jesus, Eds." He grabs Eddie’s ankle to keep him stable.
“I think a trip to the pumpkin patch is in order, what say you?”
There’s a blip where the whole room stills, every single one of them, aside from Eddie, remembering rotted fields and fetid tunnels filled with Upside Down spores and demo dogs.
“Oh, yeah, we don’t go to the pumpkin patch anymore. You know, since the tunnels—”
Steve shoots Dustin the most intense silencing looks he’s ever given anyone, which is really saying something.
They’d agreed, back in July that they would never tell Eddie what really happened at the mall. Eddie is too good, too gentle, brimming with too much pure kindness for Steve to want him anywhere near the Upside Down.
Eddie cackles. “Tunnels, Henderson?”
Lucas laughs, says, “He means the maze. Don’t you remember? They set it up one time a few years ago.”
“We got really lost. Took us hours to find the exit,” Dustin adds.
“Mike cried,” Lucas says.
“Hey! I did not!”
Mike’s anger at fake crying about a made-up crisis is enough to have them all in stitches, even Eddie who doesn’t know it’s a lie.
“What about that apple orchard?” Steve suggests.
Eddie pokes him in the cheek, excited. “Ooh, yes, apple orchard!?”
✏️✏️✏️✏️
The orchard is a mad dash of fighting over wheelbarrows, shrieking sprints into the trees, Steve stressing at the kids throwing themselves across branches with zero regard for personal safety.
Eddie nearly sends him into a coronary at the ripe old age of 19 by walking down a branch like he’s doing a tightrope.
“Munson! Get your ass down from there!”
“I’m fine, Stevie! I’ve got reflexes like a cat.”
“The hell you do!” Steve shouts as Eddie wobbles.
“Don’t worry, baby, I know you’ll always catch me,” Eddie yells back. He winks and Steve blushes about all of it.
“You’ll just get us both hurt,” he says right as Eddie shimmies easily back to the ground.
“You worry too much,” he scolds. “All this beautiful hair is going to go grey,” Eddie shuffles his fingers through the strands.
“You’re a menace,” he growls. Pushes Eddie playfully away.
They pick apples and drink cider and it’s the best time Steve’s had in a while. He kids are spread out around him, Eddie and Robin on the quest for an apple that’s perfectly red, like you could poison Snow White with it, and he’s content. Happy.
He lets himself bask in the moment, but it’s cut short by a familiar whooping yell and the crash of Eddie Munson clinging to his back.
He groans, almost loses his footing, but quickly hoists Eddie’s legs higher against his sides.
He runs and Eddie screams, giggling, and clutches his fists into the fabric of Steve’s sweater.
“Can’t believe you caught me, sweetheart,” Eddie says once Steve slows to a walk.
“I’ll always catch you, Eds,” he promises.
Eddie makes a little noise, almost like a whimper, pressing his cheek against Steve’s.
And for just a second, the barest hint of a moment in time, Steve swears he feels Eddie’s lips pressed against the sensitive skin right beneath his ear.
It’s right then that Steve knows he doesn’t just like Eddie. No, he’s positively, totally, and completely in love with him.

Hi there :) If you’re still taking requests, could I request a one-sided “rivals” to lovers type of fic with Eddie where he becomes jealous of the reader who started a club with Dustin, Mike, and Lucas back when she used to babysit them? She’s back from college for the summer and Eddie gets all dramatic about the kids “cheating” on him and gushing about how fun their club is so he spends his time whining about it to Steve at Family Video and convinces him that they have to crash a meeting to regain custody but once he sees the reader he falls head over heels immediately. I hope you have a good rest of your day!
I'm so sorry this took so long, but I haven't written that much due to work and stuff, and I started this... weeks ago, but I am finally finished. Because I just love this idea so much, so I hope I hit the right mark with this and you enjoy what I came up with 💖💖
Requests are open | prompt lists for inspiration | Stranger Things Masterlist
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Female!Reader Word count: 4140 Warning/Tags: one sided enemies to lovers (kinda), fluff, falling for each other, D&D references from someone who's never played, did I mention fluff?, oh and jealous Eddie who whines a bit

Let Your Passion Set the World on Fire
“Congratulations, you’ve really managed it this time!” Eddie said with a grin, leaning back in his throne, looking over the table in front of him while the others celebrated their victory. This campaign had been so much fun, and the club had enjoyed it as well, especially because they had defeated him. School was over (for Eddie completely), the summer lay ahead, and they had had their last session before they would resume in the new school year, because even though Eddie wasn’t a student anymore, Hellfire would still be there, and he’d make time for it. Sure, he’d said that he would get out of Hawkins, but there were now a couple of reasons for him to stay. At least until he figured out what he wanted to do.
The summer was for earning money in Eddie’s case, playing a couple of shows with Corroded Coffin and relaxing a little bit. And the boys should go out and have fun as well, and not spend their whole time inside, right? Yeah, not really, as Eddie was about to find out.
“That was really good training for the summer,” Mike said, grinning at Dustin. Will nodded along straight away.
“I can’t wait to see what she comes up with. It’s been quite a while,” Lucas agreed, leaning back in his chair, a smile spreading on his lips.
“What are you talking about?” Eddie looked at all of them, one after another, because that had certainly caught his interest. Who were they talking about and what. He had an inkling that he knew what it was about, but he had to be sure.
“Ohh, you remember y/n?” Dustin immediately said, looking up at Eddie, a brilliant smile on his lips. “The one we used to play D&D with? My old babysitter?”
“Our old babysitter,” Will made it clear, and it was obvious that all of them still adored you.
“Yeah, you mentioned her once or twice.” Or pretty much every other week, which had annoyed Eddie at first, but once they’d started with their campaigns, it had died down a bit. But of course, the boys had told him how much they’d enjoyed your campaigns, that you’d really gotten them into it in the first place. That they were glad that they had Hellfire now with Eddie and the others, because it was even more fun like this. But still, he’d been curious about you, and yes, even a little jealous when he heard them gush about you and your campaigns. Oh, he knew that his campaigns were awesome, hard to beat, but still… there was this little nagging feeling whenever they mentioned your name.
“She’s coming home for the summer,” Mike spoke up again, gathering his dice from the table so they could start putting everything away.
“And she already said that she’s got a pretty epic campaign for us!” Lucas' eyes lit up when he said that.
“And when she says epic, she means epic!” Dustin winked at Eddie, followed his words up with a chuckle.
“So… you’re abandoning Hellfire for a girl. Nice one!” Eddie rolled his eyes and got up from his throne. Clearly, he didn’t have his emotions under control right now, and he was completely overreacting, but he was already a bit… touchy because of not going to school anymore and spending most of the time with the boys - if he attended his lessons that was. Life was about to change, and he didn’t know whether he was ready for it or not.
“What are you talking about? I thought Hellfire was on break for the summer?” Mike scowled at Eddie, watching him pack up his stuff in record time. Usually, Eddie took his time, made jokes with the others, but right now, it felt like he wanted to get out as quickly as possible.
“Yeah, didn’t we want to resume when school started again?” Will watched Eddie, picking up on the slump in his shoulders, the way his lips were pressed together.
“Yeah we did,” Eddie eventually said, taking his bag, before he looked back at them. “You’re right. Hellfire will be back when school starts again.” Even if he wanted to, he didn’t have a full-fledged campaign anyway, so they needed that break. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, gentlemen, I have places to be, businesses to attend.” And with businesses, he meant turning up the newest Metallica album as loud as possible while he lay on his bed and stuck his nose in a book.
Tumblr media
It was nice to come back home after your first year of University. You’d been home before, sure, but the summer break gave you an opportunity to really relax and catch up with old friends - and that included the kids you babysat back in the day. You’d been in contact especially with Dustin all the time, and when you’d told him that you’d come home for the summer, he’d been more than excited about this, immediately asking you about your plans. With a grin, you’d told him over the phone that you’d prepared a campaign for them, if they were interested.
“Are you kidding? We’re so in!”
You’d always loved his enthusiasm, and that had shown again once you stood in front of him and he hugged you. He’d grown quite a bit since you’d last seen him, but to you, he’d always be the little curly haired boy that you’d read good night stories to. Dustin had been the first one you’d babysat, and then it had kind of become a group thing when you’d started playing D&D with them, when you’d made campaigns for them. Finally, someone who’d enjoyed it just as much as you.
It hadn’t been the same at University, mainly because you really hadn’t had the time for it, to find a new group, when you should actually do stuff for your courses, start painting again and get your assignments ready. But in the background, you’d worked on this campaign to surprise the boys with it.
Of course, they’d told you about Hellfire, had gushed about Eddie and his campaigns, and you’d listened with excitement. Because you had been happy for them. Having Will move halfway across the country hadn’t been easy on them, so Eddie had been able to distract them a little. Luckily, Will was back home, among his friends, where he belonged, so you had the whole gang for the summer. You couldn’t be happier.
You remembered Eddie vaguely, had heard his name, but you’d never really crossed paths, but from everything Dustin had told you, he seemed like a pretty cool guy.
“You know he can join, right? If he wants to,” you told Dustin once more when you set up the table in his basement, taking everything you’d need out of your bag. God, you’d spent so many hours down here, it almost felt like a second home to you.
“Yeah, but he’s always our DM.” Dustin watched you intently, trying to get a hint at what you were coming up with. Maybe, he could get a glimpse at your notes somehow, but you kept them close to you. No peeking!
“Even a DM just wants to be a player sometimes,” you reminded him. While you enjoyed leading campaigns, you didn’t back away from participating in one every now and then. You still remembered Mike’s first campaign, where you’d felt like a proud Momma bear.
“Yeah, but he reacted rather… pissed when we talked about this here.”
“What do you mean?” Your head whipped up, your eyes focused on Dustin, your own dice abandoned on the table for a moment.
“Well…” Dustin started, scratching the back of his head. “He thought we were not gonna play during the summer and then we brought this up. You. He thought we were abandoning Hellfire.”
“You’re not, it’s just a meeting between old friends.”
Still, you had to smile to yourself, because you knew just what it was: jealousy. You’d felt the same way when the boys had told you about Hellfire and this supercool dude the first time, because you’d missed them, had missed playing with them. But it had died down, when you’d realised just how good it was for them, and that you weren’t able to give them that kind of club with being miles apart from them.
It was kind of satisfying that you weren’t the only one with that knee-jerk reaction, but that only made you more curious about Eddie.
Tumblr media
“I’m telling you, she’s stealing the kids from me - us!” Eddie moaned as he collapsed onto a chair behind the counter of Family Video. Steve was alone today, so it was just the two of them. Business was usually slow in the summer months, but someone had to be here.
“Talk about being dramatic,” Steve mumbled, rolling his eyes. Eddie hadn’t stopped talking about this, but Steve could understand why it irked his friend. You’d been here for nearly two weeks and every time either one of them had asked the boys if they wanted to hang out, they’d declined, because they wanted to get along with the campaign. It was strange not really seeing them altogether in so long after pretty much spending all their time together when they could. Granted, everyone deserved a little time to come down from everything that had happened.
“Harrington!” Eddie suddenly sat up, spilling some of the beer he’d brought with him onto the floor, making Steve wince, because he’d have to clean it up later on.
“What?”Steve rubbed a hand over his face before he looked at Eddie, taken aback by the mischievous grin on his face. That was never a good sign.
“You still have the key to Henderson's place, don’t you?”
“Yes. Why?” Steve eyed him a moment longer, before it clicked. “You don’t really want to go over there, do you?”
“Why not? Crash their little party, and drag their asses out of Dustin’s basement so they get some fresh air. It’s not good for them to be inside all the time!”
“Look, who’s talking!” Steve couldn’t hold back a chuckle, because Eddie wasn’t exactly the guy to spend a lot of time outside bathing in the sun, but he still had a point.
“Yeah yeah, shut it.” Eddie rolled his eyes at Steve, but got up nonetheless, stepping up to Steve. “Look, these little assholes are not only cheating on me…”
“Really, Munson?” But Steve couldn’t deny the fact, that Eddie’s words were beginning to sink in, and make him realise that he missed those buttheads more than he’d like to admit.
“Well, they are!” Eddie shrugged his shoulders, rocking back on the heels of his feet, pushing his hands into the pockets of his jeans, leather jacket abandoned due to the weather, but he was still repping his Hellfire shirt.
“Alright, alright,” Steve eventually gave in, taking a look at the clock on the wall. One more hour and he could lock up. “Let me just get changed at home and then we can head over there.”
“I knew I could count on you!”
Oh Eddie was already looking forward to their stunned faces, and especially to see a look of annoyance on your face when he crashed your campaign, because he knew that he’d be fucking pissed if anyone dared to do that to him.
Tumblr media
It was the fifth session you had, but you’d seen the boys apart from that as well, had spent some time with them at Lover’s Lake and had made a movie night with them, including Max and Elle of course, who were just wonderful to be around. They’d won your heart over in no time. But for your campaign, it was just you and the boys - and Erica, who brought so much joy into this round, so much fierceness, that you couldn’t help but smile whenever you looked at her. She was so witty, had so many great ideas, that she reminded you of yourself at that age. Sometimes speaking before you thought about the consequences and being called a big mouth by your elders, just because you knew more than they did sometimes.
“Now, Lady Applejack, you had to leave your companions behind, some of them hurt, the others taking care of the rest, but they put their trust in you.” You fix your eyes on Erica, leaning forward slightly, elbows on the table, the tips of your fingers touching. “The dragon has not yet taken notice of you, is still fast asleep, but what you need to save the others, lies directly beneath its right claw. You can see the wooden chest with the big metal lock from your hiding spot. Now, the dragon is a very light sleeper and someone who doesn’t like getting his things stolen. What he is up for is a trade, but I don’t know if you have anything to trade that is worth enough for the dragon. Or… you could just call the dragon by its name and throw him off guard. What do you want to do?” You smirked at her, leaning back in your chair, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I don’t think you made it as easy as calling the dragon Rumpelstiltskin.” Erica levelled a look at you that told you that she’d caught up on where you’d gotten your inspiration from.
“Good idea, but nope.” You shook your head, when you suddenly heard trampling noises from upstairs and the door to the basement flung open. Instinctively, you knew that it couldn’t be Elle and Max, because they didn’t behave like that, but there was nobody else upstairs.
When two figures bolted down the stairs and stopped next to the table, you knew immediately who they were, because they boys hadn’t shut up about Steve and Eddie. Of course, you’d known King Steve, but you hadn’t been in the same group of friends. It had surprised you to hear from Dustin and Mike just how much he’d changed, but they loved the guy. And they loved Eddie. When your eyes met, you couldn’t deny the fact that your heart skipped a beat. After hearing so much about him, you were of course curious to meet him, but the effect those deep brown eyes had on you when they were levelled on you, was something nobody could have prepared you for.
“What the hell? Eddie? Steve?” Dustin spoke up, looking from one to the other, but Eddie didn’t even react, his eyes were still firmly on you.
You were not what he’d expected. Not at all. Though to be fair, he wasn’t sure what he’d expected look-wise, but he’d expected someone with their nose stuck up in the air, who would be mean and just wanted to keep the boys to herself. You looked nothing like a mean old witch wanting to destroy his life. Okay, that was a little over-dramatic, but still. In fact… you looked stunning, though a bit shocked judging by your big eyes that stared back at him.
“Surprise!” Steve said, poking his elbow into Eddie’s side, pulling him back from his thoughts.
“Yeah… s- surprise!” He managed, all but blushing when he looked at you once more. He was usually so witty with his words, never one to lose his ability to speak, but right now`? Right now, you rendered him speechless and that even without having said a word, but when you finally opened your mouth, he hung on your every word.
“Gentlemen, we’re kind of in the middle of something? We were just about to find out whether Lady Applejack would tame our dragon or not.” You rose to your feet, leaning over the table, putting your weight on your hands, while you looked at both men.
“A dragon”?” Eddie’s ears perked up, his eyes scanning the table, and he had to admit that he was impressed with your whole setup.
“Yeah the dragon can wait!” Steve spoke up again, rolling his eyes at Eddie, because this had been his idea after all, and now, he was all heart-eyes for you. Oh Steve knew that look, but he was hoping nobody else was picking up on that right now, and would just attribute it to the game or whatever. He honestly didn’t care, he just wanted to set this plan in motion.
“But we are hurt and Erica has to save us!” Will spoke up, the desperation clear in his voice, because he was always playing with his whole heart.
“Erica can still do that tomorrow!” Eventually, Eddie had found his voice again, and spoke up, not looking at you anymore, because he knew that he’d fumble with his words otherwise.
“Just take a break. We already ordered pizza to my place. Parents have gone on vacation at the start of the week, so we can hang there.” Steve shrugged his shoulders, a smile taking over his face, because he knew that he could get the kids with pizza and the pool at his house, especially when it had gotten so damn hot again.
“Wait, why didn’t I know that?” Dustin got up from his chair, reaching for his bag already.
“Because you were busy, butthead,” Eddie ruffled Dustin’s hair, a smile on his lips, that caught you off guard. He looked even better when he smiled with that kind of adoration in his eyes that was reserved for the kids. You knew it all too well, because they brought that out in you as well.
“Can we?” Mike looked at you expectantly, and you felt transported back in time to when they were all still little, when you’d been their babysitter and they’d asked you for permission.
“If you want, of course! We can resume some other time,” you said with a smile, watching them all get up excitedly grabbing their bags and bounding up the stairs. You turned away from them with a smile on your lips, as you gathered your most important stuff. Everything else could just stay here, but you needed your notes before anyone else would be able to read them.
“You coming?” Eddie called over to you standing at the bottom step of the stairs. “Don’t wanna miss out on pizza and cooling down in the pool do you?”
“Oh, I didn’t know the invitation was for me as well.”
“Of course! Now that we finally met, I need to know more about you!” Eddie winked at you, suddenly getting a burst of confidence back, and it made you smile - and your stomach tingle, which you tried to ignore as best as you could.
Everyone was talking a mile a minute while they were sitting around the pool, enjoying their pizza. The boys talking about your campaign as well, discussing their next moves with Erica.
“You gonna give us a hint at the name of the dragon?” Lucas called over to you, tilting his head to the side. He’d already finished his pizza and was getting ready to get into the water.
“Nope. Not a single word will leave my lips,” you said with a smile, making a motion with your hand that you were locking your lips and throwing away the key.
“That’s gonna be on their minds until you continue,” Eddie said, sitting down next to you at the edge of the pool. Your legs were dangling in the water and he’d pushed up the legs of his jeans as far as possible so that he could dip his feet and legs into the water as well.
“Let them burn a little bit. I love getting them so curious that they practically start begging me for information, because they can’t wait to continue.” Your lips curled up into a smile, your head turning slowly to look at Eddie. “But I guess you know that.”
“Oh yeah… all the time. But I didn’t tell them, instead I just revelled in their misery.” Eddie nudged your shoulder with his own, nibbling on his bottom lip before he looked back at you. “Sorry for crashing the campaign like that. I would have freaked out if someone had done that to me.”
His honest words made you smile, and you nudged him back, aware of a couple pairs of eyes on the two of you, but you just tried to ignore them.
“Don’t worry about it, I get it. Besides, I’m happy to finally meet you, even if it happened like that.”
“Well, we could have had that sooner, but you guys were all so busy. The kids didn’t even want to hang out with Steve and me at all.”
“But you could have just joined us, I made the offer.” You shrugged your shoulders, leaning a bit forward to trace your fingertips across the water.
“What do you mean?” Eddie turned his upper body towards you, focusing solely on you. His eyes scanned your face, the curve of your cheeks, your plush lips that gave him all kinds of ideas, back up to your kind eyes that looked back at him with such warmth that it made his breath hitch in his throat.
“Well, I told Dustin that even a DM likes to participate in a campaign now and then. Hand off the reins and just play. He said that wasn’t your cup of tea.” You wet your lips with your tongue, eyes darting from his lips up to his eyes.
“That little shithead,” Eddie mumbled under his breath, but you still picked up on it, chuckling at his words. “I said some… not so nice things before, so maybe that’s why he didn’t say anything to me.” “I get it… you were jealous!” You smirked at him, and before he could protest you kept on talking. “I was too. When they told me about you? About this supercool guy who made these awesome campaigns and had his own club for D&D? I really was jealous of you, because you got to spend time with them. But them I realised that I was happy for them, that they got to do what they loved because of you. So thank you for making them part of Hellfire.” You put your hand on his thigh, feeling him tense up beneath your touch. “That was definitely not what I expected.” Eddie managed a chuckle, leaning back on his hands while still watching you. “You’re really something, you know that?”
“Can you stop flirting in front of the kids?” Steve called over to both of you, making Eddie blush, while you also felt the heat creep up your neck, but when you heard Eddie chuckle, you relaxed.
“You’re just jealous, Harrington,” Eddie called out to his friend.
“Maybe so!”
You both started chuckling, but it died down when Eddie looked back at you again.
“Now, as someone not part of the campaign… would you confide in me and tell me the name of the dragon?” Eddie’s eyes lit up with mischief, because he would love to know that, tease the kids with it, because he knew something they might need for their campaign.
“If you promise to keep it a secret?” You raised your eyebrow at him, biting your lip again.
“By my honour! I will not breathe a word until the campaign is over! But I will tease the shit out of them.” You both started to chuckle.
“Okay… from one DM to another,” you lowered your voice, leaning over to him, one hand on your shoulder and your lips brushing the shell of his ear when you whispered the dragon’s name into Eddie’s ear. You could feel his hand land on your thigh, squeezing it slightly as his lips curled up into a smile.
“They weren’t lying when they said your campaigns are epic.”
“They say the same about yours…”
“Imagine what we could come up with together then,” Eddie said, rubbing his thumb over your thigh before giving it a gentle squeeze. Usually, you wouldn’t let someone you barely knew get so close to you, but with Eddie, you felt like you both already knew each other.
“It’s a date then,” you said, beaming up at him. “Now we have to make one together.”
“A date it is.”

Happy Halloween, lovelies!! 🎃 Day 31: Your Choice for @harringrovekinktober what better way to celebrate than with some SFW ghost!Billy fun?
--
It’s Friday night, it’s Halloween, and Steve’s babysitting.
Which, at this point in his life, he should be used to by now – but it still kinda sucks. He cares about the kids, sure, but he’s not crazy about them. He could be hanging out at Robin’s, watching horror movies and binging on candy and talking about girls and whatever, but no.
Dustin had invited him to the little hangout in Mike’s basement after Trick-or-Treating and, well…the two of them have been distant lately, so. He said yes. Because Dustin was an annoying little shit with a smart mouth, but he was kind of like the younger brother Steve never had. And Steve wanted to enjoy that just a little longer, until either Dustin became totally bored with him or they kids no longer needed him around.
Which were both very depressing thoughts, so. Steve had agreed to go and handed out candy with his parents until eleven o’clock rolled around and he dipped, saying goodnight to the two of them before making his way over to the Wheeler’s.
Nancy had answered the door, gave him an awkward little smile like she always does these days, and he’d made equally awkward small talk before leaving to go and check on the kids downstairs.
“Steve!” Dustin called out with a smile, actually excited to see him, and it made Steve feel warm.
A grin overtaking his face for the first time all evening, Steve returned the smile and happily did their little handshake – ignoring the eye rolls and laughter pointed at them from the other kids scattered about the room.
The entire Party was there, including El, which was nice to see. Steve couldn’t remember the last time he saw her out, especially after…after…
His eyes land on Max, who’s pale and managing a smile from where she’s curled up on the floor with El, the two of them sorting through their candy piles.
For a second, Steve sees flashes of fireworks and hears the distant screams of Billy in his mind, and shakes them away.
“Hey.” He greets her with a small smile and nod, which she returns before her tired eyes fall to where El’s trying to trade her Milky Way for Max’s Reese’s cups.
“You’re just in time!” Dustin says with excitement, his eyes bright as he tugs on Steve’s sleeve, “C’mon!”
“Just in time for what, exactly?” Steve asks with a furrowed brow, following the kid to the table where they all usually play DnD. But, instead of a map and figures scattered across it, there’s an Ouija board, and Steve stops in his tracks. “Where did you find this?” He asks, his tone serious.
“Will and I found it earlier,” Mike pipes up from around his lollipop in his mouth, tucked away in his cheek, “It’s rad, right?”
“Um, no?” Steve baulks, flounders a bit as he motions to the board with his hands, “Do–you–I–” he huffs and runs a hand through his hair, hating to be That Guy but he sighs, “This isn’t a good idea.”
As expected, a chorus of moans and groans follow him as the kids all head to the table, surrounding it, each of them yelling things like ‘don’t be lame, Steve’ or ‘it’s Halloween, it’s the perfect time to try it’ and other equally as stupid.
The only other person who looks weary is Max, her arms crossed over her chest as she eyes the board quietly.
“C’mon, Steve, just once!” Lucas says, “It’s probably not even real. This kinda shit is always just made up.”
“Yeah, my brother tried it once and he said it didn’t work,” Will adds, his brown eyes looking at Steve, pleading quietly, “Please?”
Fuck.
It’s a bad idea. Stupid, really. And while Steve doesn’t believe in ghosts because he’s never come across one, he’s still seen enough creepy shit in his life that he’s not eager to go poking around for more. Especially tonight of all nights.
And not mention that he’s used one of these before, when he was their age. He still swears the planchette moved on its own and he’d sworn to himself that he’d never touch one of these things again.
Still, though. He can’t…show that he’s even a little spooked, because the kids would never let him live it down.
Blinking out of his thoughts, he sees every pair of eyes on him, quietly waiting for his approval.
Which, in a way, is nice. That these kids respect him enough to wait for his permission. Not that they really need it – they usually do whatever they want, anyway.
Giving in, he sighs, “Yeah, sure, whatever.” And they burst into excitement, which he’s quick to dampen with, “Just once! Once.” And they all agree eagerly.
As they all circle the table, fingertips going to the planchette, Steve feels his stomach knot uneasily. The room is dim already, Dustin having shut off the lights except for the light above the table, and the kids all look at each other as the realization dawns on them that no one knows how to do it.
“You gotta be shitting me.” Steve huffs in amusement, his mouth twitching with a poorly concealed smile.
“You spoke first!” Mike grins triumphantly, “That means you gotta ask a question!”
Steve’s smile drops and his brows furrow, “What? That’s not a rule.”
“It is now.” Dustin smirks, just as smug.
“Ugh, fine, whatever,” Steve huffs, licking his lips as he eyes the board and says, “Hello. Is anyone there?”
A few seconds pass, nothing happens.
Until the planchette slowly moves to ‘Yes’.
The kids all gasp and freak out a little, but Steve’s quick to shush them, “Shut up! Relax, just…chill.”
He wracks his brain for another question, ignores the tingling at the base of his spine as he asks, “Do you know what day it is?”
“The fuck kinda question is tha–” Dustin starts but quickly snaps his mouth shut as the planchette begins to spell out a word.
Just one word: H-A-L-L-O-W-E-E-N.
The kids all giggle and gasp again, clearly entertained and unsure of how authentic it actually is.
“Do you…know my name?” He asks, eyes trained on the board.
S-T-E-V-E.
“Holy shit!”
“No way!”
“Who’s moving it?!”
“Oh, my god, shh!” Steve silences them again, ignoring the chill up his back as he eyes each of the kids, trying to see which one of them is doing it – but they all look innocent.
Looking down at the board again, Steve asks, “What’s your name?”
B.
Steve’s throat closes up.
I.
His eyes go to Max.
L.
Horror slowly dawns on her face, his eyes widening and jaw dropping.
L.
He feels ice cold.
Y.
The room is silent for a moment, until Max gasps quietly, “Billy? Is it really you…?”
The planchette moves to ‘Yes’ and her hand goes to her mouth, her eyes welling with tears as she tries and fails to muffle a sudden sob, El quickly wrapping her up in a hug as the boys all begin to freak out, hand after hand leaving the planchette until Steve’s the only one.
His gut twisting, anger flaring, he looks at the boys and snarls, “Hey! This shit isn’t funny, whoever’s doing it, knock it off–”
The planchette keeps moving under his fingertips and he looks down at it, eyes wide as it spells.
B-O-O.
Snatching his hand away, Steve points an angry finger at the kids as Max cries in El’s arms, “Okay, that’s it! We agreed on once and we did it once–”
“Steve, you can’t–” Dustin tries, but Steve cuts him off.
“–No! Whatever the fuck that was, it’s done! I’m done. I don’t need this…this ghost bullshit ruining my night, okay? You can all have your fun but I’m out!” He looks to El and Max, “C’mon, I’ll take you two home, if you want.”
Max is quick to nod and gather up her things, El following suit, but he doesn’t wait for them – he goes back upstairs, hearing Dustin call, “You have to say goodbye to end it!”
Yeah, sure.
Slamming his car door shut, Steve grips his steering wheel and closes his eyes, tries to even his breathing and calm his racing heart.
Because what the fuck?
It wasn’t real. It wasn’t. It was just some fucked up prank the boys were doing and it backfired hard.
Although, he does jump when the girls open the doors to his backseat and climb in, but he sighs softly in relief when he realizes it’s just them.
And not Billy Hargrove back from the dead or something.
He looks back at them and at Max, who’s quietly wiping away the tears under her eyes. Quietly, he asks, “You okay?”
She glowers at him a little, obviously not okay, so he nods silently and turns back to start his car.
--
He drops them off and makes sure they’re inside before pulling away and heading back home, turning up his music to drown out the annoying memory of Dustin calling after him in the basement, something about not saying ‘goodbye’ and having to–
The radio buzzes with static and Steve frowns, winces a little as it gets louder, the pop song playing suddenly mixing with something heavier, a sad guitar, the lyrics creeping through the static to sing, “You just left when I begged you to stay, I've not stopped crying since you went away, you went away, you went away–”
He twists the volume all the way down and grips his steering wheel, swallowing thickly around a suddenly dry throat.
It was just…an interference. Signals crossing in the air, that’s all.
The volume stays at zero all the way home.
--
It’s not like Steve’s scared. He has nothing to be scared of, really.
Because there’s no reason to be scared! Nothing’s happened! He went to bed that night and woke up in the morning, feeling normal. His parents were their usual selves, too. There was nothing to worry about.
Except, he can’t really explain the way ‘Pretty Boy’ had been written onto his foggy mirror after a shower.
Wiping it away with loud squeaks from his palm, Steve had huffed and ignored the cold chill up his spine again, forcing the memory of Billy against his back in basketball practice away out of his head as he got ready for work.
But, even at work, it didn’t stop – tapes that he’d put up on the shelves ended up on the floor minutes later, knocked over and tumbling to the ground. The computer would freeze up or turn off while he’s using it without explanation. The door would shake a little, as if mustering up the strength to open, or like there was a strong wind outside rattling it, but it would never open.
Weird, borderline annoying shit like that.
At home, it was no better. Doors randomly slamming, scaring the shit out of him. The TV turning off whenever he was watching it, even with the remote far away from him. Once, when he’d left a notepad and pen out, he came back to find ‘BOO’ written on it.
And it had felt so…smug.
So Billy.
But, he refuses to believe that Billy Hargrove’s haunting him. It’s just not possible.
And besides, why him? Why not Max? Or literally anyone else?
--
He goes back to the Wheeler’s, a week after Halloween, in search of answers.
Mike answers the door and Steve immediately asks him, “Where is it?”
The little shit tilts his head to the side, acting clueless despite the amusement in his eyes, “Where’s what?”
“The fucking board.” Steve huffs, pushing past Mike and heading downstairs to the basement, feeling the kid right on his heels the entire time.
“It’s not down here!” Mike groans, “After you and the girls left, Lucas took it!”
“Took it where?” Steve asks as he looks around the basement, standing at the base of the stairs with Mike behind him, looking over his shoulder.
He swears he sees a shadow in the corner of his eye, so he chases it with his gaze, but it’s gone.
“He took it outside or something, I don’t know,” Mike huffs in annoyance, “We were all kinda freaked out so we agreed to keep it out of the house.”
Turning and looking at Mike, Steve frowns at him, “I fucking told you dumb asses not to do it.”
Mike rolls his eyes with a nod and turns to head back upstairs, “Yeah, yeah, I know!”
“Steve.” A familiar voice breathes into his ear, right behind him.
He freezes and his breath catches, eyes widening as he whips his head around, expecting to see Billy standing there but there’s nothing. There’s just the quiet basement, empty.
“Steve!” Mike calls and Steve rushes up the stairs, hoping the voice stays down there.
--
He finds the board outside the Wheeler’s house, behind the garbage bins. He’s lucky it was missed on collection day.
“Okay,” he huffs, setting it down on his bedroom floor and putting the planchette down on the board, crossing his legs as he sits down in front of it.
He hesitates, for a moment. And feels stupid.
But, he has to know.
Carefully, he places his fingertips on the planchette again and clears his throat to say, “Hi, um…Billy. Are…are you there?”
His eyes widen as the planchette immediately pulls to ‘Yes’ and stays there.
“Holy shit,” he breathes, licking his lips nervously, “Okay, um…” He furrows his brow,s “Why are you…following me?”
He refuses to say ‘haunting’.
It takes a moment, but the planchette moves across the board, spelling a simple explanation.
F-U-N.
It makes Steve huff a quiet sound of amusement through his nose, rolling his eyes because it’s just so Billy.
Even in death, Billy’s determination to annoy the hell out of Steve is still there.
Almost affectionately, he mumbles, “Asshole.”
Billy spells out I-K-N-O-W.
Which makes Steve tilt his head a little, wondering. “Are…are you in pain?”
The planchette goes to ‘No’.
That’s a relief Steve hadn’t known he wanted to feel. He feels his shoulders begin to relax, no longer lingering by his ears.
“That’s…good. Max will be happy to hear that.”
The planchette jerks and quickly spells out D-O-N-O-T-T-E-L-L.
Furrowing his brows again, Steve asks, “Why not?”
C-O-M-P-L-I-C-A-T-E-D.
“I think she has a right to know. She’s…honestly, she’s been a mess ever since Starcourt.” Steve frowns and worries his bottom lip, thinking back over the last couple of months and how he’s watched the life drain out of her slowly. “She misses you, Billy.”
Billy goes quiet at that, for a while. Steve doesn’t dare move his hand away.
Finally, after another long moment, Billy spells out B-E-T-T-E-R-O-F-F.
“You don’t know that,” Steve frowns again, nearly scowling now, “I don’t know if you’ve seen her, but she’s not doing great. You really scared her that night, y’know – on Halloween.”
I-K-N-O-W.
“You should apologize.”
S-O-R-R-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y.
So sassy. “Not to me, idiot. To her.”
C-A-N-T.
“Why not?”
N-O-G-O-O-D-B-Y-E.
Dustin’s voice rings in Steve’s ears then, ‘You have to say goodbye to end it’.
“So…” he worries his lower lip between his teeth again, “If…I say ‘bye’ to you, you’ll leave?”
The planchette lands on ‘Yes’.
Steve goes quiet then, thinking.
They never really had any sort of relationship before Billy’s death. They were rivals for a short moment, sure, but even then it wasn’t like Steve was vying to be top dog at school. Billy was always the one to pull on his metaphorical pigtails, always ready to annoy him or get a rise out of him for fun, but even that wasn’t much.
But this little board has suddenly opened up an opportunity that Steve doesn’t want to end so soon.
“Okay,” he breathes, “Well…you’re stuck with me, for now, then. I…I want you to talk to Max, because I think she needs it – I don't even know why you’re attached to me, she was there that night, too…”
N-O-G-O-O-D-B-Y-E.
“Oh, right,” he mumbles, realizing that – unfortunately – Dustin was right. He hadn’t said goodbye to Billy that night, so Billy’s tied to him.
He’s not even sure if that’s how any of this works, but it kinda makes sense.
P-R-E-T-T-Y-B-O-Y.
An unwilling smile tugs on his lips then, feeling as if he can hear Billy’s voice in his head as he thinks of the weird nickname. Because even after all of the pain Billy went through, he’s still…himself. In a way. Maybe without all that pain and misery, now.
With a mumble, Steve says, “Yeah, that’s me. Get used to it.”
A-L-R-E-A-D-Y-A-M.
Steve ignores the flare of warmth in his chest at that and mutters, “Okay, well…since we’re going to hang around for a bit, could you maybe not be a total dick when I’m going about my day?”
The planchette goes to ‘No’, and really, Steve should’ve expected that.
“Later, asshole.” Steve mumbles with a smirk as he pulls his hands away, feeling a little bit like he’s just hung up on Billy, and grins as he watches some papers get shuffled on his desk before his curtains are ruffled, blinding him momentarily as sunlight shines on his face.
He chuckles and holds his hand out in front of his face, shielding himself from the little sunshine assault, and wonders what the fuck he’s gotten himself into.

The Gate Pt.1
Tumblr media
pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader x Steve Harrington
word count: 3311
tw: swearing, no Eddie but he is mentioned this time
previous part
“Eleven.” Mike sighed in relief, seeing the girl everyone else thought was gone for good standing right in front of them.
“Mike.” Eleven gasped as they both took a couple of steps forward and fell into a hug.
They stayed like that for a few seconds, just holding each other and crying happy tears so that they could be together again.
“I never gave up on you,” Mike said, pulling back from the hug. “I called you every night. Every night for-”
“353 days.” Eleven finished the sentence. “I heard.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were there? That you were okay?”
“Because I wouldn’t let her,” Hopper answered, walking to Eleven as Mike stepped away confused at what Hopper was talking about. “The hell is this? Where have you been?”
“Where have you been?” Eleven asked back, as Hopper pulled her into a caring hug.
“You’ve been hiding her.” Mike realized what Hopper meant, he jumped at Hopper hitting him on the back. “You’ve been hiding her this whole time!”
Hopper quickly turned around to face the younger boy and grabbed him by the front of his shirt, “Hey! Let’s talk. Alone.”
Hopper took Mike into a bedroom away from everyone. The rest stood by as Eleven walked up to her old friends, happy to be with them again. As Max tried to introduce herself to Eleven, the short-haired girl wanted nothing to do with her and walked over to you.
“Hey, kid.” You smiled, patting Eleven on the head like you did a year ago, “I’m diggin’ the style.”
“Thank you,” Eleven replied, slowly with a shy smile.
“I’m glad you’re back.” You said, softly trying to hold in your tears. Eleven just nodded with the same smile before walking over to Joyce.
“So, that’s the girl with the superpowers,” Steve said once Joyce and Eleven had walked away to the room Will was in.
“Yup.” You replied, plainly. She wasn’t trying to be rude or anything, you were just in your head too much at the moment and still trying not to cry.
“I thought she had a shaved head.”
You turned to look at Steve in complete disbelief at the words that just came out of his mouth, “It’s been a year, Steve, hair grows.”
“I know, but, never mind.” Steve shook his head, not having anywhere to go with that sentence.
Joyce and Eleven walked back in and over to the table in the kitchen. Everyone walked over to them, hearing that they were talking about the gate.
“Do you think if we got you back there, that you could close it?” Joyce asked.
Eleven turned to look at Joyce, taking in the hopeful expression on her face. Eleven then turned back to face forward knowing what she had to do to save them and to save Will.
—----------------
They all stood around the kitchen as they figured out their next move. Joyce explained her idea, but Hopper was a bit apprehensive about it.
“It’s not like it was before, it’s grown.” Hopper sighed, “A lot. And, I mean, that’s considering we can get in there. The place is crawling with those dogs.”
“Demo-dogs.” Dustin interrupted Hopper to correct him.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I said, uh, Demo-dogs. Like Demogorgon and dogs. You put them together, it sounds pretty badass-”
Hopper cut Dustin off, annoyed by his interruption to explain something irrelevant, “How is this important right now?”
“It’s not. I’m sorry.”
“I can do it,” Eleven said, determined.
“You’re not hearing me.” Hopper practically pleaded, not wanting to have the young girl be put into a dangerous situation.
“I’m hearing you. I can do it.” “Even if El can, there’s still another problem.” Mike interjected, “If the brain dies, the body dies.”
“I thought that was the whole point,” Max said, confused at what he was getting at.
“It is, but if we’re really right about this, I mean if El closes the gate and kills the mind flayer’s army…”
“Will’s part of that army.” Lucas finished Mike's explanation.
“Closing the gate will kill him.”
Everyone looked at each other with worry, they had a plan but they didn’t know how to execute the plan without killing Will.
They all walked into Jonathan’s room where Will was lying, still unconscious.
“He likes it cold,” Joyce muttered out loud, but mainly to herself.
“What?” Hopper asked, wondering what she was talking about.
“It’s what Will kept saying to me. He likes it cold.” Joyce walked over to the window and closed it. “We keep giving it what it wants.”
“If this is a virus, and Will’s the host, then…” Nancy started.
Jonathan finished what she was saying, “Then we need to make the host uninhabitable.”
“So if he likes it cold…” Nancy once again started coming up with a plan.
“We need to burn it out of him,” Joyce said with so much anguish thinking about the pain her son is going through already and how much pain they’ll have to put him through to get the mind flayer out of him.
“We have to do it somewhere he doesn’t know this time,” Mike recommended so that this time the mind flayer can’t stop them.
“Yeah, somewhere far away,” Dustin added to Mike’s idea.
Hopper said that he knew a place, so he picked up Will as he explained to Jonathan and Joyce where they were going. While Joyce and Jonathan were going to try and get the mind flayer out of Will, Hopper and Eleven were going to try and close the gate. Which left everyone else to stay at the Byers to wait until everything was complete.
Nancy and Steve were outside looking at the pile of stuff from the shed to find the heater. You were asked to go too, but Steve asked you to stay behind so he could talk to Nancy alone. When he came back in, Steve looked a bit downcast but he had a smile on his face to try and act like he was. You saw right through and went up to him to check on him.
When you walked up to him, you put a hand on his arm, “Everything okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, um,” Steve nodded as he continued to look at the ground, “I told her to go with him.”
“With Jonathan?”
Steve nodded again, this time he looked at you with a more genuine smile but there was still some sadness in his eyes, “Yeah, but it’s all good she needed to go with him.”
You just nodded, you didn’t want to push him anymore, you already knew what he meant by that.
Steve and you walked outside with the kids to stand on the porch and watch as everyone else left in their separate cars. They all looked back at each other with slight fear at the unknown of how this could go
—----------------
Back inside the house, Dustin was throwing everything out of the fridge to try and make room for the Demo-dog Steve was holding wrapped in a blanket. While you were cleaning up the mess Dustin was making so Joyce didn’t come home to a pile of her food on the ground.
“All right, it should fit now,” Dustin said, once he cleared out the fridge.
“Is this really necessary?” Steve asks, not liking the kid's idea to shove a monster into a fridge.
From your crouched position on the ground, you looked up at the two annoyed, “No, this is ridiculous, Dustin.”
“Yes, it is, okay?” Dustin insisted, not listening to the older girl's opinion. “This is a ground-breaking scientific discovery. We can’t just bury it like some common mammal, okay? It’s not a dog.”
“All right, all right, all right.” Steve stopped Dustin from continuing his rant. He walked over to the fridge and before he put the thing in the fridge he turned to Dustin, “But you’re explaining this to Mrs. Byers, all right?”
Steve then tried to shove the Demo-dog into the fridge, but was struggling, “Help me out?”
“What am I supposed to do?”
You stood up to get out of their way, chuckling as you did so, loving the struggle these two idiots were putting themselves through.
“Get the door, man, the door.”
“All right, I got the door.”
The two slammed the fridge door shut before the creature could fall back out. As soon as it was shut, they both sighed in relief and Steve gave a pat to Dustin’s head. Hearing the girl behind them continue to chuckle, they both turned to face you with irritation all over their faces.
“Oh, like you could have done better.” Steve sarcastically said.
“Yeah, I could have, because I wouldn’t have tried to shove a monster from another dimension, that has tried to kill us, into a fridge.”
Steve put his hands on his waist and nodded, “That’s fair.”
“What about the scientific discovery?” Dustin whined, looking up at Steve, thinking they were on the same page.
“I just wanted you to shut up.” Steve sighed, walking away to grab a towel to clean his hands of the slime that came from the Demo-dog.
Dustin and you turned to the living room where they could hear Lucas and Mike arguing.
“That lab is swarming with hundreds of those dogs.” Mike reminded Lucas since he had been the only one of the group that had seen what happened in the lab.
“Demo-dogs!” Dustin yelled as he walked into the living room followed by you.
Not listening to their curly-haired friend's correction, Lucas continued to try and calm Mike, “The chief will take care of her.”
“Like she needs protection,” Max muttered from the ground, where she and Lucas were sweeping up broken glass.
“Listen, dude, a coach calls a play in a game, bottom line, you execute it. All right?” Steve walked in to try and convince Mike that staying at the house was what they were supposed to do, but his analogy didn’t work.
“Okay, first of all, this isn’t some stupid sports game.” Mike fumed, “And second, we’re not even in the game. We’re on the bench.”
“So my point is-” Steve paused, not knowing what else to say, “Right, yeah, we’re on the bench, so, uh, there’s nothing we can do.”
“All right, so you’re done talking,” You put a hand in front of Steve’s chest to get him to stop before bringing it back down and putting your attention to Mike, “Let me try and put this in words you might prefer. The Dungeon Master has given everyone their part in defeating the mind flayer, and since you don’t have superpowers or are possessed by the mind flayer, you are not a protector of one of them. Your job is to sit back and wait not to cause any more problems, okay?”
“That’s not entirely true,” Dustin interjected.
“Well, I don’t completely understand the game-”
“No, I mean, these Demo-dogs, they have a hive mind. When they ran away from the bud, they were called away.”
“So, if we get their attention…” Lucas started, seeing what Dustin was getting at.
Max continued Lucas’ idea, “Maybe we can draw them away from the lab.”
“And clear a path to the gate,” Mike added.
“Yeah, and then we all die!” Steve tried to stop the kids from going any further with this idea.
“That’s one point of view.” Dustin disagreed with Steve.
“No, that’s not a point of view, man. That’s a fact.”
“I got it.” Mike gasped, running into the kitchen and everyone followed. He went over to one of the drawings of the map Will created and pointed to a spot, “This is where the chief dug his hole. This is our way into the tunnel.”
Mike walked over to the spot in front of the hallway where a pile of drawn-on papers was on the ground, “Here, right here. This is like a hub. So you got all the tunnels feeding in here. Maybe if we set this on fire-”
“Oh, yeah? That’s a no.” Steve sassed, hating this idea even more.
The kids continued with their back and forth as if they all shared one brain.
“The mind flayer would call away his army-”
“They’d all come to stop us-”
You tried to intervene, “No, guys, now way!”
“Would circle back to the exit. By the time they realize we’re gone-”
“El would be at the gate.”
“Hey. Hey! Hey!” Steve clapped his hands, finally getting the kids to stop and look at the teens behind them. “This is not happening.”
“But-” Mike tried to object.
“No, no, no, no, no.” You cut him off before he could go any further, “There will be no arguing. Steve and I promised that we’d keep you shitheads safe, and that’s exactly what we plan on doing. We’re staying here and we’re waiting for the others to finish their side quests to defeat the monster. Does everyone understand?”
“This isn’t a D&D game!” Mike argued back.
Steve took the towel off his shoulder, and pointed it at Mike, “She said, does everybody understand that?”
“I need a yes.” You ordered one more time, but before the kids could respond a loud revving of an engine was heard outside.
Max ran over to the window and sat on the couch to look outside, “It’s my brother. He can’t know I’m here. He’ll kill me. He’ll kill us.”
Steve and you went outside to wait on the porch for Billy to pull up to the Byers’ house, so they could send him back on his way.
Billy got out of his car with a cigarette in his mouth, taking a puff he took it out of his mouth smirking, “Am I dreaming, or is that you Harrington? And I see you have the Virgin Mary with you.”
“Yeah, it’s us. Don’t cream your pants.” Steve replied in a monotone voice.
“We know that’ll be hard for you since you seem like the premature ejaculation type of guy,” You commented in a bit of a more smart-ass tone.
As Billy took his leather jacket off and put it in his car, Steve stepped off the porch and walked over to him, while you stayed with your arms crossed.
“What are you doing here, amigo?” Billy asked
“I could ask you the same thing. Amigo.”
“Looking for my stepsister. A little birdie told me she was here.”
“Huh, that’s weird, I don’t know her.” Steve fibbed to try and get Billy to leave.
“Small? Redhead? Bit of a bitch.”
“Doesn’t ring a bell. Sorry, buddy.”
“We don’t know her, so leave!” You shouted from your spot.
“You know, I don’t know, this…” Billy sighed dramatically, pulling the cigarette out of his mouth, “This whole situation, Harrington, I don’t know. It’s giving me the heebie-jeebies.”
“Oh, yeah, why’s that?”
Billy took another puff and shrugged his shoulders, “My 13-year-old sister goes missing all day and then I find her with you two in a stranger’s house. And you both lie to me about it.”
“Man, were you dropped too much as a child, or what?” Steve gave a light chuckle, “I don’t know what you don’t understand about what I just said. She’s not here.”
“Then who is that?” Billy pointed over Steve’s shoulder with his cigarette.
Steve and you turned to look at the window where the kids were peeking out of. You looked at them all with wide eyes, mouthing, ‘What the hell’ as they quickly ducked down.
“Oh, shit. Listen-” Billy pushed Steve to the ground before he could finish his sentence.
“I told you to plant your feet,” Billy said, before kicking Steve in the stomach.
You stomped up to Billy and gave him a shove, “What the hell, Hargrove?”
Billy just shouldered you to the ground like she was nothing and continued his walk into the house. You were too in shock to comprehend what was happening and before you knew it you landed on your butt. You caught herself with your hands before you could end up landing on your back.
You quickly stood up and walked over to Steve to check on him. He was still lying on his side, holding his stomach in pain. You lightly pushed him by his shoulder to get a better look at him and see if there was any other damage.
“Are you okay?” Steve could still only nod as he tried to catch his breath again. “Okay, you’ve got to get up, we need to help the kids. Come on.”
You grabbed Steve by the elbows to pull him up from the ground. Once they were both standing, they charged towards the house where they could hear the kids freaking out. When they walked into the house, they could see Mike, Dustin, and Max watching Billy yell at Lucas.
Steve quietly walked up behind Billy while you stood in front of the kids to block them, as Billy continued to shout at Lucas, “You are so dead, Sinclair! You’re dead.”
“No, you are.” Steve shoved Billy back before landing a hard punch to Billy’s face knocking him over slightly. This gave Lucas enough time to run back over to the rest of them, hugging them all.
Billy stood back up cackling with his nose now bleeding, “Looks like you got some fire in you after all, huh? I’ve been waiting to meet this King Steve everybody’s been telling me so much about.”
“Get out” Steve growled, pushing Billy back with his two fingers, trying to make space between them after Billy got extremely close.
Billy swung at Steve, but Steve was able to duck in time before coming back up and punching Billy in the face again. Billy fell back onto the table and then turned back laughing again like a maniac.
“Yes! Kick his ass, Steve” Dustin cheered on from behind you.
“Get him!” Mike shouted along with Dustin.
Steve got two more punches into Billy’s face, when Billy grabbed a plate and smashed it on Steve’s head, making Steve stumble back a few steps. Billy stomped forward and punched Steve in the face hard. You pushed the kids back as the boys walked into the living room to continue their fight.
Billy grabbed a hold of Steve's jacket bringing him close to his face, “ No one tells me what to do.”
Billy head-butted Steve, causing Steve to end up on the ground. Billy crouched over to Steve and landed continuous hits to his face.
You had enough of this lunatic's behavior and advanced towards him landing a harsh kick to his ear. Billy fell off of Steve, holding his ringing ear, he looked up at the girl that just kicked him and let out a loud growl-like scream. Billy stood up and made his way towards you, but before he could get too close you kicked him in the balls.
Billy recovered quickly and practically threw himself at the girl before you could do any more damage. He grabbed you by the throat, pushing you against the wall and lifting you off the ground a few inches. As you gasped for air, you frantically clawed at Billy’s face leaving a couple of scratch marks. You swung your legs around trying to kick, but couldn’t seem to hit anything major.
Your vision started to go black and your ears began to ring when suddenly you felt yourself fall to the ground. Landing on your hands and knees, you tried to catch your breath reaching a hand towards your throat that no longer had Billy’s harsh grip but still felt tight. You could hear something happening in the room, but couldn’t fully make out the words and your vision was too spotty to see anything.
“Eddie.” You croaked out before falling to the ground and passing out.

Eddie's POV
Part 5 Part 4 Part 3 Part 2 Part 1
Max is still laughing to herself as Eddie pulls himself together and climbs in the van. Was he hallucinating, had he dropped acid that morning and forgotten? Maybe there really was some kind of gas leak in Hawkins? Maybe like a reverse Vecna situation where he's seeing the opposite of his worst memories?
"OW, what the hell?!" Eddie yells and slams himself back against the driver's side door to get away from Max, who is already reaching out to pinch him a second time.
"You're babbling about Vecna and gas leaks, figured you needed someone to pinch you." Max shrugs like her go to answer isn't always physical violence and chaos. "You're not hallucinating or dreaming, I too witnessed Mama Steve confirming your date."
"Ew, don't call him that." Eddie pulls the van out of the parking lot and points it towards home. "Seriously though, what just happened? I started this day with a very specific plan to find out if Steve and Nancy were back together," Eddie gives Max just a little side-eye when she snorts at this. "-and the next thing I register he's confirming a date. Did I black out and ask him on a date? Did he ask me on a date? I don't even remember who suggested it."
"We're all seriously underestimating that man," Max mutters under her breath. "Does it matter, isn't this what the end goal was anyway? You have a date that will hopefully put a stop to your stupidly embarrassing crush on Steve Harrington."
Indignant as ever Eddie jerks the wheel to the right, narrowly avoiding the curb and then rights the van. "How do you know about that?! I'm very subtle! And you're one to talk, don't think I haven't heard Dustin teasing Lucas about you ogling Steve's chest hair when we were out on Lover's Lake. You're basically a peeping tom!"
"This isn't about me. Your crush on Steve is more obvious than Will's pining after Mike," now it's Max's turn to side-eye the scoff that comes at this. "-and you somehow enlisted the most obvious member of the group to help you. Seriously, I love Robin but she has no subtlety. You should have seen her floundering in there. Steve sussed her out immediately. You're lucky I was there to help wingman you."
"Oh is that what we're calling meddling now?"
"You got a date, didn't you?? Some thanks would be nice."
Eddie pulls the van into his spot in front of the trailer and thunks his head against the steering wheel, "oh my god, I have a date with Steve Harrington, King Steve, monster slayer Steve, Steve 'the hair' Harrington…"
"And he has a date with Eddie 'the freak' Munson. So, are you going to live up to that particular name or are you going to get your shit together and woo him?"
"How am I supposed to do that? He was the lady killer in high school, all the girls, and not a few guys, wanted to date him. What do I know about wooing a guy like that?"
Max opens her door and hops out, "Come on Munson, you're overthinking this. Come inside and we'll figure it out."
Eddie climbs out of the van and grabs a discarded notebook from the back before following Max into her trailer. Max grabs two sodas from the fridge and sets one down in front of Eddie, where he has settled on the couch before she sinks down on the opposite end.
"I'm serious when I say you're overthinking it. You know Steve. Not King Steve, not Steve 'the hair' Harrington, just normal dorky, mother hen Steve. You've been hanging out for months, you know him well enough to have a crush on him so this should be easy. You know what he likes, what he doesn't, what annoys him."
"Until an hour ago I was sure that Nancy Wheeler was what he liked."
"Yea sure, but you only thought that for what, 12 hours. Did you think it before you saw them hugging yesterday?"
"No," Eddie admits softly. "I had started to suspect he might like me actually, that's why I was so surprised to see it."
"So, what else do you know he likes, use what you know. He's just Steve, he's very forgiving even if you don't get it right."
"Don't tell Dustin, but you might be the smartest kiddo. Thanks Red." Eddie gives her a small smile and visibly relaxes. She's right of course. He does know Steve; knows he likes the kids and knows he likes to pretend he doesn't. Knows he loves watching them act like kids because he thinks they have had to grow up too fast. Knows his friendships are so important to him because he's not used to people liking who he really is and sticking around. Steve like consistency, he likes predictability, and he likes Eddie. So yes, Eddie can work with that and as he remembers all the things he knows about Steve he truly relaxes because he knows Steve wouldn't like anything too big or over the top. Now he's got real plans to make.
He gets up to head out to his home across the way and is halfway towards the door when Max calls after him, "Hey can you toss me the walkie by the door?"
He grabs it and tosses it so it lands on the cushion next to her leg. "Thanks Eddie, good luck. Don't go overboard, it's just Steve."
"I won't, thanks again Max, that was surprisingly helpful advice, for a peeping tom and a meddler." He laughs as he swings the door shut but can hear her steps running from the couch to the door. He's about to jump down to run away from her when he hears the lock turn in the door and then the static of the walkie as max yells into it, "Dustin! You'll never guess what Eddie just said about you!!"
