Annual September Mafia Gathering
12.9.20 - 7:00 PM
The Gathering Has Begun
"Jeonghan?"
Jeonghan looked up from his hands, being greeted by a shape he didn't recognize. They towered over him, casting their shadow over him as his eyes strained. But something in him clicked, the urge to protect himself as he whipped out his butterfly knife. He flicked it open, the blade shining as the light reflected off from it as his grip tightened. But someone placed their hand on his, a touch he recognized too well as he relaxes, his vision obscured.
"Hannie, it's Mingyu and me," Jeonghan closed his eyes, recognizing the smooth and comforting voice of his partner, flicking his knife closed.
"I don't think you should be here with us tonight," Mingyu sighed.
Jeonghan shook his head in denial, feeling Joshua draping himself over him. Jeonghan leaned his head against Joshua's gently, feeling secured within his embrace. "Don't speak nonsense, Mingyu. I have to do it tonight, and my condition won't stop me from doing so,"
"Listen to me, Hannie," Jeonghan opened his eyes, shifting his gaze towards Joshua. The two locked eyes and the minute Jeonghan could register that it was Joshua, Jeonghan noticed the look of worry fogging his lover's dark brown orbs and the anxiety hidden behind that fog. "You haven't been able to pull yourself together after you talked to Seungcheol..." Jeonghan sighed, turning his head away from Joshua. "What did he say to you, Hannie?"
"Seungcheol..."
══════◄••❀••►══════
"Everyone's lives are on the table, Jeonghan," Seungcheol said, his head dropping into hands in despair. "We thought we had it under control, and that our plans were perfect, almost impeccable... But we were too desperate and naive, thinking too highly of our plan. We made numerous mistakes because we didn't calculate it and because we didn't prepare ourselves for the unimaginable, and I'm the one to blame."
Jeonghan's chest tightened as he listened, his brows furrowed as his leg bounced vigorously under the table, but never causing it to rock with him.
"We were forced to cut ties with you and your group and to leave you all behind. Not because we had our differences, because even then, we found ground between each other. But if we defied them, then too many were going to be slaughtered like lambs for being "disobedient." Even your own, Jeonghan," Seungcheol explained. "So we left. Others understood, and others misunderstood, believing that it was the time to turn away from people "who were far from grace and were guided by Satan," Seungcheol shook his head.
"Believe me, Jeonghan." Seungcheol looked into Jeonghan's eyes, conflicting the other who was unfamiliar with a man he saw as strong and stern, to now being a pitiful and regretful man before him. "I wanted to send supplies. I wanted to send members one by one to help without being detected, but the stakes were too high. We had already crossed territory we had attempted to avoid for years, and if we pushed farther, then you wouldn't see us today. Not a single one of us,"
Jeonghan leaned back, his expression void of emotion as his mind spiraled. "And so you did it anyway... What you would gain was another day to live, and another, and further on until now. But to do so, you were forced to abandon us..."
With a solemn expression, Seungcheol nodded to The Purple Rose leader, who was contemplating.
"So we continued as usual, but there were times that things were changed, and not by us... No. We had to fulfill what "they" requested unless another disappeared, and another. It was excruciating." Seungcheol sighed heavily, crossing his arms over his chest. "Every day, I had to wait for something, anything, to ensure that it wouldn't contain anything that would hint of a member dying. And sometimes, they did arrive. One disappeared, and then we found them already buried. Another was kidnapped and left for dead after being brutally attacked, and then another,"
"Has anyone else experienced this?" Jeonghan questioned, studying the older's expressions and movement. "Anyone else tugged like puppets by this group?"
"I haven't the slightest clue. We couldn't speak to anyone about this till now," Seungcheol said. "This is the only opportunity we have to converse with each other about this ordeal because of the proposal,"
"So, they still abide by some rules, huh? No one can touch two Bosses and their group if they are to be engaged. What a joke." Jeonghan scoffed, leaning his head back. But when he looked towards the ceiling, a figure greeted him. Their face loomed over his, faint and black. But their smile, her smile, was the most distinguishable. It was mocking, big and white, stretching from ear to ear while her hair was in a messy bun.
"Someone's watching, Jeonghan," She mouthed, her hands moving to his shoulders. "They're listening, Jeonghan. Don't you see it? They're here,"
Jeonghan closed his eyes, lifting his head and looking back to Seungcheol. She was still there too, nothing but a foggy figure that was unable to stay together, their legs like smoke engulfing the floor. While she petted Seungcheol's head, shaking her head, Seungcheol was talking, but his voice was too far, too static. Static. Static.
"You may not trust him, Jeonghan. But you know better. Oh, yes, you do," The woman giggled, draping herself over the other Boss, who took a sip of his drink, brows furrowed. "But who cares if they'll die. They deserve it, don't they? Don't they deserve to feel the pain and abandonment you and your group bear?" She said with a sly voice, but Jeonghan tsked in response. He took his cup and downed the entire glass. The woman scoffed in response, and the static noise became bearable, slowly subsiding as Jeonghan consumed every drop of the drink. So when he looked back at Seungcheol, it was only him. Just him. Just him.
"I don't have any interest in you, Jeonghan," Seungcheol said, finally breaking the remaining whispers of noise, of unbearable static noise. "This proposal has no other meaning but to ensure the safety of my group, and to ensure your groups' safety if they attempt to conduct this again. Just like anyone here, they won't be able to do a single thing to us if we're combined, no matter if they affected one group and not the other."
"That's a brilliant idea, you know?" Jeonghan mocked, his lip curling. "Do you hear yourself, Seungcheol? Relying on this to think it will silence this group? Have you lost your mind within two years?"
"Probably," Seungcheol responded with slight amusement, causing Jeonghan to laugh. "And yet it took you three months to lose yours," Jeonghan could be offended, reaching over the table and grabbing the Boss by the sweater, but he didn't. Instead, he smiled to himself. He smiled a wicked smile.
"Indeed. Three months and I was creating massacres after another," Jeonghan said, relishing the memories of his cruel nature.
"But tell me, Jeonghan," Seungcheol began, becoming stern. "Do you think I'm lying now?"
Jeonghan tilted his head, leaning back in his chair with a faint smile. His eyes narrowed on Seungcheol, taking one last look before his eyes darted to the left, his smile fading.
"Perhaps..." Jeonghan responded calmly, but then a smirk blossomed on his face. "Perhaps not,"
"At least find it in yourself to spare my group. Spare them, and not me. You may do as you like to me, make me go through unbearable pain, make me a fool in front of everyone, or remove me, permanently. Whatever you want from me, you may do, but in exchange, have mercy on my group," Seungcheol said, causing Jeonghan to sigh softly. "That's all I ask. Protection for the thousands of members I lead,"
"Seungcheol-"
══════◄••❀••►══════
"He explained to me everything," Jeonghan finished. Listening as people clanked their glass cups together, laughing and gossiping.
"And it able to justify his actions?" Joshua asked, pulling a chair over and sitting in front of Jeonghan.
"Well... It certainly made me think deeply about it," Jeonghan sighed, running his free hand through his hair before gently tugging his hair with irritation, feeling as if something was crawling inside him, making his insides itch.
"Don't do that, Jeonghan," Joshua said, taking Jeonghan's other hand gently from his hair and holding both in his. "But... Does it change anything? Anything we all agreed on?"
"...In some ways, yes," Jeonghan answered reluctantly, someone letting out a laugh of dismay.
"Is that so?" Jihoon interrupted, causing the three to look towards the Consigliere, his arms crossed over his chest. "Then explain to us what in the world he said-"
But Jihoon didn't finish as the gathering commenced, mafias shuffling to their tables and sitting down. Jihoon glared towards the host, snapping his head back towards Jeonghan, mouthing to him, "You need to explain," before moving towards his assigned seat and sat down. Jeonghan looked towards Mingyu, who shook his head, patting Jeonghan's shoulder and wheeling to his assigned seat. As for Joshua, he sighed, turning his chair and holding Jeonghan's hand under the table.
"You won't explain it to us until afterward, won't you?" Joshua whispered. But before Jeonghan could respond, Joshua shook his head, squeezing his hand. "That's fine."
As usual, the gathering began with a welcome from the numerous staff members of the Worldwide International Mafia Organization, the very people who documented everything and everyone within the mafia community. It was a boring introduction, many of them introducing themselves for new members and groups, going into depth of rules, and so on. The essentials that the groups needed to understand, to be specific. From there, they transitioned into the recognition of new groups and members, welcoming them. Afterward, having them take oaths to their superiors within their groups and accept the rules that all mafias needed to follow. And of course, Jeonghan and various Bosses of each group stood together in their rankings, congratulating the new groups.
Jeonghan was among the first ranks, the first that the groups would see. And it was no surprise that all were hesitant to approach him, some trembling as they took his hand and shook it, giving forced smiles, some shocked when they held his icy, cold hand, immediately jerking away. Others looked towards him as a role model, but when they walked away from him, their legs were weak and appeared like mush as they attempted to continue down the line of Bosses. It was always an amusing sight for Jeonghan, but his thoughts and voices plagued him, making his presence seem as if anyone approaching such a stoic and deranged man like him would die from a deathly plague that he emitted.
Luckily, there weren't that many new groups but various members to greet. But it wasn't long before Jeonghan was seated beside Joshua, wanting nothing more but to be intoxicated with Joshua, embracing him as he slipped into slumber. But that wouldn't happen any time soon as the Organizations' leader lifted the microphone to his lips, addressing the three heads of each group to move to the meeting rooms.
From there, Jeonghan, Joshua, and Jihoon listened to all present and exchanged their updates, their achievements, and so forth. Jeonghan sat through it, listening towards Bosses accusing one another, others cursing and spitting malice, some mocking the other, and those who spoke calmly despite the turmoil within the room. It was long, longer than the previous meeting they had in August before they closed it, moving back into the prior space the rest were residing, waiting.
But before Jeonghan could sit down, massaging his temples as he grumbled in agitation about the nonsense with the groups, the moment they had been waiting for came.
"And before we proceed with the rest of the gathering, we must recognize and congratulate two mafias this year," A plump man said, looking towards Jeonghan and nodding towards him with a bright, toothy grin. Jeonghan breathed in, standing straight as the man continued. "After many years, it appears that these two mafias have finally agreed to become one in unity! Please congratulate The Purple Rose Boss, Yoon Jeonghan, and The Purple Rose Underboss, Hong Joshua Jisoo!" The room filled with cheers and the thunderous sounds of claps, bouncing off the walls and causing Jeonghan's head to pound. But he didn't comment about it, seeing the plump man gesture for Joshua and him to walk onto the platform he stood with the staff.
Jeonghan then turned to Joshua, seeing him look down to his lap. Taking Joshua's hand, Jeonghan gently helped his partner from his seat, giving a reassuring smile towards Joshua, who looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, relaxing. Together, accompanied by Jihoon and Wonwoo, walked towards the platform.
But instead, Jeonghan handed Joshua to Wonwoo, stopping at the steps as whispers of confusion filled the room, the sounds of cheers and congratulations subsided. Wonwoo took Joshua to the side of the platform, patting his back gently while Jeonghan turned his head towards Seungcheol, Jihoon waiting at his side with his eyes narrowed with dissatisfaction.
Jeonghan watched as Seungcheol stood up, followed by his Consigliere, Vernon, fixing his coat as he maneuvered around the tables and walked towards Jeonghan. Suddenly, gasps filled the room, people exclaiming and whispering as Seungcheol stood beside Jeonghan, stepping onto the platform together. Following them was Jihoon and Vernon, refusing to look at each other as the staff exchanged baffled looks with one another. But Jeonghan could hear the mafias whispering, and even those who shouted.
"Since when did the two agree upon this?"
"Disgusting!"
"Did Joshua and Jeonghan break up?"
"When did this happen?!"
"Talk about being greedy for power,"
"Absolutely not!"
"Typical,"
"Is it possible Jeonghan cheated?"
But nothing was done about it despite the angered voices that clashed against those who proposed absurd suggestions, and Jeonghan noticed Joshua beginning to turn red with rage, and if Wonwoo hadn't been there at his side, he'd lose it.
"You mean to say-... Oh my," The man had said, looking flustered and confused.
"FORTUNATELY OR NOT," Jeonghan bellowed, his voice loud and silencing the chaos within the room, startling various groups that shrank, others grumbling, "I haven't given my answer to the proposal,"
Jeonghan turned from the people, facing Seungcheol, who's shoulders were straight and brought back, portraying that familiar sophisticated and dominating appearance that many recognized. But he was nervous, and Jeonghan didn't need to see it in his eyes or have the need to study his body movements.
"Although it isn't an ideal proposal, we have gone through the following agreements if I accept, isn't that right?" Jeonghan said, making sure all heard him as the air became thick with anticipation.
"That's right," Seungcheol responded calmly.
"If I were to accept, our groups will conjoin and share the burden we both carry individually. Both will receive an equal share, protection for all members, and to work together as one. No feelings will be involved, as this is for business reasons. And from then on, no longer will The Purple Rose exist, and no longer will The Silver Lions exist, but one invincible group," Jeonghan said, addressing the agreed terms as the staff rushed to write down these terms. "Not only will both gain this, but Choi Seungcheol will submit himself to my group, unable to refuse what will become of him as his group will continue from then on,"
"So it's revenge that he may be accepting this?"
"He's risking himself? How foolish,"
"Shush!"
"With this accounted, have you both considered this? Are you both willing to accept these terms, and what will become of your group?" The plump man questioned, stepping forward towards the two.
TW: This will contain mentioning of blood and self-harm, but it is nothing severe. But I still warn you in advance in case this may be triggering to anyone reading this.
"I have," Seungcheol answered, keeping his eyes on Jeonghan, who didn't waver. "But I am not the one who has the choice to deny this proposal, or to accept it, establishing this,"
Jeonghan didn't respond, his eyes shifting towards his group that was on the edge of their seats, some nervously biting their nails, others twitching and whispering among each other. When he changed his gaze towards The Silver Lions, he could easily spot the familiar face of a boy he once called his own, looking towards him with desperation. And finally, he looked towards Joshua, who looked back at him with trust.
"I..." Jeonghan began, looking into Seungcheol's eyes.
"Deny," Jeonghan said with a devilish smile on his ghostly face, the room going into an uproar.
Seungcheol's eyes widened, his mouth slightly open, but no words came out. The Silver Lions exclaimed in dismay, some standing up while others held their heads down in their hands. The Purple Rose remained silent, but they were smiling wickedly, relishing the despair The Silver Lions' were under as Jeonghan took the ring off his finger, taking Seungcheol's hand and placing the jewelry on his palm, closing it and patting his hand.
"Whether feelings are involved or not, beneficial gain from one another or not, it will be HELL marrying you. To accept and take your name as mine, following terms and accepting vows, you weren't able to stay true the first time we established it? How silly," Jeonghan growled, standing tall as Seungcheol stumbled backward, clenching the ring in his hand while Vernon took hold of him.
"You-... You're risking my members' lives! Do you understand that?!" Seungcheol exclaimed, looking at Jeonghan in disbelief and distress while the mafia Boss pulled out his butterfly knife, raising his other hand to silence Seungcheol.
"Ah, ah, ah. I didn't finish," Jeonghan flicked his wrist, the weapon opening to reveal the sharp and long blade. Some gasped, others readying themselves for a possible massacre, but instead, Jeonghan calmly brought his knife to his hand, pushing it into his palm and cutting a large cut, blood oozing from the wound, trickling down his wrist. Many looked at him in repulse as he only smiled his devilish smile softly, and he then pointed his weapon towards Seungcheol, his blood dripping from the blade, slowly. "Rather than making the mistake of marrying, let's create a NEW alliance. The same terms applied from before, and the terms now aside from becoming one group,"
And that was enough to cause outbursts of disagreements from his group, even Jihoon and Joshua took a step forward in disbelief.
The mafias within the room were astonished, all conversing with each other about the predicament before them. Not even the staff of the organization could piece together the situation, who were unsure. But Jeonghan was indifferent, turning his knife so that he held the blade, offering it to Seungcheol, who was looking at him with an indescribable expression. Perhaps astonishment and a mixture of rage? Or was he lost?
But Seungcheol took the knife, stuffing the ring into his pocket, and doing the same as Jeonghan after wiping off Jeonghan's blood from the blade. Both of their palms cut, blood dripping as the staff rushed a table over with the following materials for ensuring the alliance and an agreement paper between them.
"This will be the only time you will ever have the chance to redeem your sorry ass, Seungcheol. If you dare, ordered or not, to do the same thing again, then you will be removed permanently. Understood?" Jeonghan said, dropping his blood onto the paper and wrapping his hand with bandages, and Seungcheol followed.
"Of course, Jeonghan,"
With their hand bandaged, their Consiglieres moved forward, conflicted as they took a red cloth from the table, allowing the Bosses to hold each other's bandaged hand, wrapping the silky fabric around their hands before taking a step back, waiting.
And in unison, the two proceeded with the alliance ceremony, the staff creating a half-circle around them, performing the ceremony as everyone went silent, some boiling with anger, others too shocked to process, and those who were unable to differ what they felt. But one thing was for sure. . .
"You better step up your level if you want your strings cut from the group, Seungcheol. I can't be doing all the work here,"
Things were going to become complicated, but interesting.
Admin Moon: I'm not attempting to do the "keep reading" shenanigan again. That was a pain in the ass, so deal with this- 🤧😂

But when the tyrannical Inspector has his eye on Jyoti and he commits unspeakable acts against the village, everyone is pushed to breaking point. Will Jyoti dare turn him down despite what it may mean for her village?”

12 Reasons to visit Zanzibar
The name Zanzibar immediately conjures up images of an island paradise with soft-sand, white beaches and shimmering azure waters. But, the Zanzibar Archipelago is so much more than romantic coastlines and blissful sunsets - these islands offer a kaleidoscope of sights, smells and tastes which feed your soul and leave you wanting to return again. Zanzibar is without a doubt a tropical dream destination, ideal for getting away from it all, but it is also a fascinating destination from a historical and cultural perspective, as well as being a top adventure and eco-tourism destination.
Here are our top 12 reasons to visit Zanzibar Islands:
1. Blissful beach destination Zanzibar is the home of idyllic beaches, balmy weather & warm tropical waters. This archipelago is renowned for clear warm waters, coral reefs and rich marine diversity making it a perfect under-water destination for snorkelling and diving. If it is lazy days along white sandy beaches that you are after - Zanzibar is hard to beat. But, in addition to the perfect beach destination, Zanzibar is also full of options for nature lovers, culture vultures, and adventurers. 2. Unique and vibrant culture and architecture Zanzibar is fairly undeveloped and enjoys semi-autonomy from mainland Tanzania. The colourful history and rich heritage can be seen in the strong Arabic, Indian, African, Persian and European influences and adds a vibrant dimension to the island. Exploring the cobbled alleyways of historic Stone Town’s old quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you encounter a captivating blend of diverse architectural styles in the mosques and houses interwoven to create this charming destination. Old mansions and palaces, such as the House of Wonders, the old Turkish Baths, as well as lively bazaars, market stalls, and shops all, overwhelm the senses with their energy and detail; which tell the story of a long and tumultuous history. Zanzibar is predominantly Islamic and this is evident in the lifestyle of the locals and the design of everything from furniture and fabric to jewelry and crafts. Look out for the famous carved teak Zanzibar doors. The Dhow Countries Music Academy is a great place to get a feel for the local music style known as Taarab - which is a blend of classical Swahili poetry, percussion, and rhythm infused with a myriad of influences from the Middle East, Africa, India and the West. 3. Exotic spices Zanzibar Island is well known as the Spice Island due to the farming and processing of aromatic spices like cloves, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemongrass and black pepper. Visit spice plantations to learn about the process and history of these crops, their medicinal and culinary uses. Follow the aromas and sample the delicious blend of flavours in the market street food and traditionally prepared dishes.
4. Romantic getaway
Not just aromatic, but also romantic - it's an ideal place to spice things up. With some of the most beautiful lodges and settings in the world, how can the archipelago not be the perfect place for romance? It's the perfect place to take long walks on the beach, relax beside the water and drink cocktails as the sun sets. Zanzibar is, of course, a popular honeymoon and wedding destination. 5. Breakaway - escape the crowds and do your own thing For those looking for something even less populated and developed the neighbouring islands of Pemba, Mafia, Chumbe and Mnemba make wonderful destinations where you are likely to have entire stretches of beach all to your self. There are more than 50 smaller islands that make up this archipelago and many beautiful lodges to choose from. Rent a scooter (moped) to explore the narrow streets and beautiful coastline at your own pace, away from the crowds. The roads are rough in places and the traffic can be a bit hair-raising, but it is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful weather and go on tailor-made adventures to the lesser-known corners of the islands. 6. Diving Mecca and water lover's paradise Zanzibar has some of the world's most beautiful dive sights and is a well-loved destination for those wanting to explore the underwater world.
Zanzibar has a long list of offerings for the outdoor water enthusiast - from scuba diving and deep-sea fishing to kayaking and sailing on traditional wooden dhows. Swim and snorkel in search of tropical fish amongst the coral, or go windsurfing, kite-boarding water-skiing or island hopping. 7. Rich flora and fauna - Red colobus monkeys in Jozani Forest, butterflies, Kizimkazi dolphins, tortoises and turtles Another great reason to visit Zanzibar is the Jozani Forest Reserve, home to the endangered Red Colobus Monkeys - one of the rarest primates in Africa. These monkeys are endemic to the island and with conservation efforts, are slowly recovering from the brink of extinction. The mature forests of Jozani form part of the island's only National Park, where you can also see hundreds of different butterflies, numerous birds and a variety of interesting plants and animals. Zanzibar Butterfly Centre (located 1km from Jozani Forest Park) is an environmental community project that has trained local people from the community to farm butterflies sustainably. The project aims to create income for the locals and conserve the local forest by running one of Africa's biggest butterfly sanctuaries, as well as by exporting butterfly pupae. Visitors can participate in an interactive tour with one of the knowledgeable guides in the lush, netted gardens where hundreds of butterflies, all native species to Zanzibar, fly freely. Kizimkazi on the south coast of Zanzibar Island is a popular location for going in search of dolphins. A short boat ride from the village takes you out into the big blue to hopefully see the schools of bottle-nosed or humpback dolphins often found in the area. Spotting these wild dolphins in the crystal clear waters of Zanzibar is an unforgettable experience. The Miza Miza Caves and the oldest mosque in East Africa can also be found in Kizimkazi and are well worth a visit. At the northern tip of the island, you will find Mnarani Natural Aquarium where Zanzibar's turtle conservation is centred. Created around a natural tidal pool the aquarium not only cares for the injured Hawksbill and Green turtles but also ensures the safety and well-being of hatchlings. It is a community conservation project that focuses on educating locals and fishermen about the advantages of protecting these ocean creatures.
Prison Island, once a prison for errant slaves, is a small island found about 5.6 km off the coast of Stone Town. The island now provides sanctuary for the endangered Aldabra giant tortoise. Listed as highly vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, these giant tortoises are constantly under threat from poachers. This population has grown from the four tortoises originally gifted by the Seychelles government in 1919. 8. Local markets and fresh seafood
The local markets and restaurants also offer a feast of fresh seafood - a treat definitely worth experiencing. There are many ways to enjoy these culinary delights - from fresh fish cooked on open fires on the beach to Lobster Thermidor at one of Zanzibar’s hotels, or spiced and served with traditional flavours and twists. Your taste buds will be awakened and constantly tantalised by the variety. 9. History and traditional Dhows
Zanzibar has a long and complex history having been the biggest slave market in East Africa, as well as a base for voyaging traders. It became well-known as the Spice Island for its aromatic spice offerings and was also an important player in the ivory trade. Zanzibar has been diversely influenced by the British, Arabs, Portuguese, Indians, Persians and Africans, all of whom have passed through the island and left their mark. Enjoy a trip on a traditional hand-crafted wooden dhow - a remnant from the trade history of the area and still in use daily for transport and fishing.
10. Friendly locals and festivals The people of Zanzibar are known for their friendliness - the locals are generally helpful and welcoming towards visitors. There is an island vibe outside of Stone Town's bustle, a laid-back slow pace to life, and travel is relatively safe. Remember to be respectful of the Muslim norms, by dressing appropriately and not drinking alcohol in public places. Zanzibar has a few interesting festivals– Sauti za Busara (an African music festival takes place annually in February), Jahazi (Jazz and Literary festival usually in September) and Mwaka Kogwa (a four-day festival held in July to mark Nairuzim - the Shirazi New Year). People from across the African continent participate in these gatherings seeing a cross-section of cultures, ages and backgrounds celebrating together. The Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) is the largest cultural event that takes place in June and July. The festival showcases cinema, music and performing arts from a diverse range of races, classes and religions, drawing a large audience. 11. Budget-friendly and easy to explore Zanzibar has something for everyone - from exclusive five-star experiences to family-friendly affordability. Suit yourself and your budget - whether it is ultimate luxury that you are after or a laid back beach shack - Zanzibar offers something for every taste and heart's desire. Getting around in Zanzibar is simple and easy to do on your own, giving you the freedom to explore at leisure.
12. The perfect add-on to wildlife safaris in East Africa

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s offer of dialogue with Tehran belies a hardening of U.S. policy that intensifies economic and diplomatic pressure but so far stops short of using his military to more aggressively counter Iran and its proxies.
FILE PHOTO: U.S. President Donald Trump speaks about the economy while delivering remarks on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, U.S., July 27, 2018. REUTERS/Carlos Barria
U.S. officials tell Reuters that the goal of Trump’s push is to curb Iranian behavior, which America, its Gulf allies and Israel say has fueled instability in the region through Tehran’s support for militant groups.
Trump has also voiced hope for a stronger agreement with Iran to prevent its pursuit of nuclear weaponry than the 2015 deal between Tehran and world powers which Trump pulled out of in May.
But the U.S. government has not clearly defined its desired end state for its Iran policy or outlined a face-saving path for Iran’s rulers that would allow them to deescalate steadily mounting tensions between Washington and Tehran, experts say.
That has raised concerns of an increasing risk of confrontation. Significantly, Trump has also not articulated what he would do if his policies were to destabilize Tehran, which has been at odds with Washington since Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, or if U.S. pressure were to embolden hardliners.
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani warned on July 22 that hostile U.S. policies could lead to “the mother of all wars.”
Trump responded on Twitter that Iran must never again threaten the United States or it would suffer “consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before.”
Trump significantly softened his tone on Monday, saying he would meet Rouhani without preconditions. Both men are expected to address the annual United Nations gathering of world leaders on the same day in September, according to a tentative list of speakers.
REIMPOSING SANCTIONS
Iran views the United States as acting in bad faith by withdrawing from a deal that it helped negotiate and has long blamed Washington for stoking instability in the Middle East.
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman on Tuesday said Trump’s offer to negotiate with Tehran contradicts his actions.
“Sanctions and pressures are the exact opposite of dialogue,” Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying by Fars news agency. “How can Trump prove to the Iranian nation that his comments of last night reflect a true intention for negotiation and have not been expressed for populist gains?” he added.
Trump’s policy is already putting significant pressure on the Iranian economy, although U.S. intelligence suggests that may rally Iranians against the United States and strengthen Iran’s hardline rulers, officials say.
Iran’s currency plumbed new depths on Monday, dropping past 120,000 rials to the dollar, as Iranians brace for Aug. 7 when Washington is due to reimpose a first lot of economic sanctions following Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
This includes reimposing sanctions on Iran’s purchases of U.S. dollars as well as its trade in gold and precious metals.
Iran’s oil exports could fall by as much as two-thirds due to the sanctions, straining oil markets.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly supported Trump’s actions, and Israel’s energy minister has said he believes the sanctions could bring Iran to a decision point within months.
FOMENTING UNREST
The Trump administration has also launched an offensive of speeches and online communications meant to foment unrest and help pressure Iran to end its nuclear program and its support of militant groups, according to U.S. officials.
As part of that effort, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on July 22 compared Iran’s leaders to a “mafia” and promised unspecified backing for Iranians unhappy with their government.
Pompeo said the U.S. government was launching a Farsi-language channel on TV, radio, digital and social media platforms. The U.S. government would also help Iranians get around internet censorship.
LAUNCHING ‘ARAB NATO’
The Trump administration is also pushing ahead with a bid to create a new security and political alliance with six Gulf Arab states plus Egypt and Jordan, in part to counter Iran’s expanding influence.
The plan to forge what officials in the White House and Middle East have called an “Arab NATO” of Sunni Muslim allies would likely contribute to tensions with Shi’ite Iran.
But similar initiatives by previous U.S. administrations to develop a more formal alliance with Gulf and Arab allies have failed in the past and it is unclear what, if any, U.S. military involvement there will be in the alliance.
One of the risks of emboldening regional allies, U.S. officials say, is that they could inadvertently trigger a conflict that could draw in the United States.
BUT NO REGIME CHANGE
The tougher U.S. posture on Iran has fueled speculation that Trump is seeking to promote enough unrest to potentially unseat Iran’s rulers.
But U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on July 27 the Trump administration had not instituted a policy of regime change or collapse toward Iran.
“We need them to change their behavior on a number of threats that they can pose with their military, with their secret services, with their surrogates and with their proxies,” Mattis said.
There have been mixed messages from Trump’s administration about the military’s role in confronting Iranian influence. White House National Security Adviser John Bolton linked the U.S military presence in Syria to the “Iranian menace.”
The head of U.S. forces in the Middle East, General Joseph Votel, clarified that the U.S. military’s job in Syria was still strictly battling Islamic State militants, which are not linked to Iran. However, the presence of U.S. and U.S.-backed forces presents a de facto check on Iranian expansion.

In Brazil, religious gang leaders say they're waging a holy war
http://bit.ly/2iqsIcM
The expression “evangelical drug trafficker” may sound incongruous, but in Rio de Janeiro, it’s an increasingly familiar phenomenon.
Charismatic Christianity is on the rise across Brazil. Even Rio, a famously libertine city, elected an evangelical mayor last year. Now, evangelical Protestantism is so far-reaching in Rio that even some of the city’s most notorious drug dealers claim to be spreading the gospel.
I study violence in Latin America, and I’ve observed a sharp increase in reports of religiously motivated crimes in Rio de Janeiro over the past year, in particular attacks on “terreiros” – the temples belonging to the Candomblé and Umbanda faiths.
Brazil’s evangelical turn
Persecution of these Afro-Brazilian religions, whose adherents are largely poor black Brazilians, has been around since the 19th century. But studies in Rio – both mine and those of other crime researchers – suggest that the current wave of religious bigotry is more pointed, and more violent, than in the past.
While statistics confirming this new trend are still poor, the increase in religious hate crimes appears to coincide with the spread of evangelical Protestantism in Brazil.
Today roughly a quarter of all Brazilians identify as Protestant, up from 5 percent in the 1960s. Many Brazilian Protestants attend mainstream services. But the fastest-growing denominations in Brazil are the hard-line Pentecostals and Neopentecostal churches – including the wildly successful Assembly of God and the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.
That’s also true in politics. Evangelical lawmakers currently hold 85 of 513 seats in Brazil’s lower house of Congress, meaning that the religious right is shaping the national debate on gay rights, racial equality, women’s reproductive health, education and other social issues.
Rio de Janeiro saw a 30 percent increase in evangelicals from 2000 to 2010. Over the same period, the number of Catholics and followers of Candomblé and Umbanda dropped by 9 percent and 23 percent, respectively.
Most converts are poor people attracted to the evangelical doctrine of personal salvation. Today, evangelical leaders in Rio’s impoverished favelas routinely deliver a message of fidelity, purity and prosperity.
Some of them also have a dim view of Afro-Brazilian religions. For preachers espousing a binary spiritual worldview, “good” Christians must wage holy war against “evil” practitioners of Candomblé and Umbanda.
As Edir Macedo, the multi-millionaire bishop of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, wrote in his 1997 book “Orixás, Caboclos and False Gods or Demons”, Afro-Brazilian religions “seek to keep us from God. They are enemies of Him and the human race … This struggle with Satan is necessary…to eternal salvation.”
The book sold more than three million copies before it was banned by federal authorities in 2005.
Religious ‘cleansing’
For some analysts, this theological interpretation is just thinly veiled religious discrimination.
Still, parishioners – including a handful of drug kingpins who control favelas across Rio – are heeding the call to arms. For these evangelical criminals, Candomblé and Umbanda are Satan’s work, and they must be stamped out, one terreiro at a time.
Fernandinho Guarabu, a 38-year-old don in Rio’s Terceiro Comando Puro gang, is an example. Sporting a tattoo of Jesus Christ, Guarabu is known for violently “cleansing” his community – the Morro do Dendê favela – of practitioners of Afro-Brazilian religions.
According to a state hotline dedicated to tracking religious intolerance, more than 30 terreiros were destroyed in fewer than 20 days during September 2017, and reports of religious discrimination have increased 119 percent since 2015.
Adherents of Afro-Brazilian religions living in gang-controlled areas report personal harassment, too. Followers are often prohibited from practicing their faith, and people caught wearing the religious garb of Candomblé and Umbanda may be expelled from the community.
According to representatives of a newly launched Commission on Combating Religious Intolerance, drug traffickers are responsible for a sizable number of these cases.
The prison-to-church pipeline
A small group of evangelical preachers in Rio de Janeiro’s favelas may have inspired these anti-Candomblé and Umbanda crusades, but the problem escalated in prisons.
A decade-long war on drugs has fueled mass incarceration. Brazil’s overcrowded state prisons are essentially governed by one of two competing drug trafficking organizations with the government only nominally in control.
Gangs have long recruited their rank and file from prisons, and incarcerated members stay busy organizing trafficking and racketeering businesses.
Faith groups, too, have a long tradition of working with prisoners. The Universal Church and Seventh Day Adventists, among others, run programs in those same prisons, from drug treatment to restorative justice.
Previously, these ministries were predominantly Catholic. Today, of the 100 faith-based organizations subcontracted to run social programs in prisons, 81 are evangelical churches.
As a result, Charismatic Christianity has spread quickly through the criminal justice system. Jailhouse conversions are common. Evangelized inmates are frequently housed in separate prison wings that stand out for their order and cleanliness. Some have even established their own ministries inside jail.
Life in Baixada Fluminense
For drug kingpins, developing positive relationships with local Rio pastors while in jail can tighten their grip on power once released.
Converted traffickers control many of the city’s favelas, but the violent heartland of evangelical trafficking is Baixada Fluminense, a sprawl of townships in Rio’s poor northern outskirts.
Over the past century, the area has seen waves of migration from Brazil’s north and northeast, where Afro-Brazilian religions prosper. Baixada Fluminense is now home to at least 253 Candomblé and Umbanda terreiros, more than any other municipality in the state.
The Baixada Fluminense is also one of Rio’s most dangerous corners. Murder rates have fallen slightly across most of the city over the past decade, but not in Baixada Fluminense. According to the Institute for Public Security 1,486 of a total 4,197 reported homicides in the state so far in 2017 occurred in Baixada Fluminense.
Described by locals as a “Wild West,” the area is home to famously corrupt public officials who have long worked with militia and mafia groups to intimidate their rivals. This practice – called “coronelismo,” or patronage – allows drug traffickers, evangelical or otherwise, to operate with impunity.
Fighting back
Rio de Janeiro state officials are taking note of this worrying new strain of violence. In the wake of attacks on Afro-Brazilian terreiros in Nova Igaçu, a municipality in Baixada Fluminense, the Joint Commission to Support Victims of Attacks on Religious Institutions was launched.
Working alongside a newly established task force dedicated to tackling racial crimes and intolerance, the state commission aims to map religious violence and resolve outstanding cases, including those involving evangelical drug traffickers. It will also make recommendations to prevent violence in the name of God.
People of faith are fighting back, too. In September 2017, some 50,000 people joined Rio’s 10th annual walk for religious freedom, the largest gathering since the procession’s inception. The iconic Copacabana beach was packed with evangelicals, Catholics, Baha'i, Buddhists, Jews, Hari Krishnas and others – all dressed in white and marching in solidarity with Afro-Brazilians.
In Brazil’s religious diversity, there is conflict, yes, but unity, too.

Annual September Mafia Gathering
12.9.20 - 11:45AM
Jeonghan walked through the hallway of the large establishment with a stoic face, passing mafias that laughed and spoke with one another, some turning to him and whispering among each other. Glancing to the side, he noticed a woman subtly point towards his hand, causing him to give a small “Tsk,” and shoving his hand into his pocket, hiding the silver, red rose ring that glistened on his finger. At his side, Joshua walked with him, keeping his head held high despite the flicker of irritation in his eyes. But he quietly slipped his hand into Jeonghan’s, holding it tightly.
“Just a little longer, Hannie,” Joshua whispered to the other, who intertwined their fingers.
“I should be the one saying that to you,” Jeonghan responded, causing the other to laugh dryly. “You sure you’re alright?” Jeonghan asked, shifting his gaze towards his partner, whose lips pursed.
“I could do better. But this is temporary, isn’t it?” Joshua answered. “I have nothing to worry other than this becoming a catastrophe too soon,”
“It is the plan to make this a catastrophe, remember?” Another spoke up, causing the two to look behind them towards Seokmin. The youngest was in a wheelchair, Wonwoo pushing his wheelchair. Wheeled beside Seokmin was Minghao, his head turned to the side with distaste as Jun assisted him, and Mingyu, wheeling his chair. Jihoon was walking behind Mingyu, looking distant from the group as other members of The Purple Rose followed.
"It is,“ Jeonghan turned his head, facing forward as his head gave a small jerk. "But we have to wait for the right moment,”
"Or we could end it now. Spare us from going through this horrendous situation,“ Minghao growled through gritted teeth.
"Minghao. None of us like going through this, but remember why we’re doing it like this,” Jun responded with furrowed eyebrows, his eye twitching. “Besides, if we do it now, then the aftermath will only be worse,”
Entering into the restaurant inside the hotel, they spotted their reserved table and walked towards it. But to their dismay, they were seated beside The Silver Lions. Minghao scoffed, Wonwoo grumbling under his breath as the group followed Jeonghan and Joshua, sitting down at the large, round table. “Good morning, men,” A male greeted with a pleasant tone in his voice. Minghao didn’t respond, keeping his back faced towards The Silver Lions as the rest were begrudgingly greeting them.
"Good morning, Seungcheol,“ Jeonghan greeted, an empty smile stretching across his face as he turned his head to find the Boss drinking his cup.
"Slept well?” Seungcheol questioned, shifting his gaze towards Jeonghan, locking eyes.
Jeonghan stared at Seungcheol, his eyes narrowed as a trace of his chilling soft blue eyes flashed. “Oh, yes. I slept wonderfully,” There was sarcasm in his voice, and he noticed Seungcheol’s eyes waver, knowing that the other Boss had detected it and was reacting to the glimmer of blue that was present for barely 5 seconds. “How about you?”
Seungcheol sighed, nodding with a bitter smile towards Jeonghan, “Fine.” As they ate, the air around them feeling heavy, almost as if it could suffocate them, Jeonghan kept an arm around Joshua’s shoulders. He didn’t look towards Seungcheol again, his other hand tapping the temple of his forehead as he grumbled under his breath. Joshua looked towards Jeonghan, a frown present on his face as he leaned into him, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
"Hannie, you haven’t eaten anything since the waitress brought the food,“ Joshua said.
"Not hungry,” Jeonghan responded, but he noticed the dissatisfied expression on his partner’s face and turned to him, catching his lips. Joshua was surprised, but returned it, their foreheads touching gently. “I’ll eat later, I swear. For now, eat with the boys,” Jeonghan said softly, looking into Joshua’s dark brown eyes that glistened. “I’m going to talk with Seungcheol,”
"Hannie. You said-“
"I know I did,” Jeonghan said, placing his hand on Joshua’s cheek, “I’m going to talk to Seungcheol and see if I can get answers now. What we have planned for later today will happen during the gathering. No sooner, or later, than that,” Joshua sighed, turning his head and placing a kiss onto Jeonghan’s hand, his brows furrowed.
"Just don’t kill him yet,“ Joshua joked dryly.
"Not yet,” Jeonghan chuckled, causing Joshua to laugh, shaking his head.
Jeonghan and Joshua turned their heads when Jihoon coughed loud and clear. “‘Scuse me, but we’re here too,” Jihoon said, raising his eyebrows. “Eating.”
"You’ve seen us like this multiple times, Jihoon, and worse. It’s nothing new,“ Joshua argued as Jeonghan chuckled, standing up at signaling for a private table towards a waiter. They nodded, looking frightful as they rushed off to prepare the table Jeonghan requested. Jeonghan then shifted his sharp gaze towards Seungcheol, the other looking towards him with a raised eyebrow. But no words had to be exchanged. Seungcheol already understood when Jeonghan turned his head towards the table being prepared for them, The Silver Lions leader sighing as he talked towards his members briefly.
As for Jeonghan, he kept his hands stuffed in his pockets, walking towards the table cleared for him and Seungcheol. It was far in the back, hidden from those who were too far away to see it. It was the perfect place to converse about things needing to be kept between selected people. Such as this occasion.
"How curious,” Jeonghan muttered softly to himself, beginning to tap the temple of his forehead again as the male took a seat across from him.
Jeonghan sat down with his back to the wall, his leg crossed over the other as he watched Seungcheol maneuver his way around the tables and mafias seated. Instead of being dressed in his typical tight suit, clear of wrinkles, and clean, he wore a white sweater that made his muscular features more apparent as it exposed bits of his shoulders and chest.
His pants were black, covering a bit of ankle as he wore black, shiny shoes, likely the only two things that were similar to his usual attire. It was the first time Jeonghan had seen him clothed casually than resembling as if he was a businessman than a mafia. Of course, when not busy, Jeonghan has seen Seungcheol dress differently, but not out in public.
At first, they didn’t say anything. Jeonghan turned his head from Seungcheol, his gaze trailing off towards the unknown depths of deformed reality while Seungcheol was watching him. And Jeonghan knew that. He knew that Seungcheol was eyeing him anxiously despite his calm exterior. Then again, Jeonghan always found one person studying him, observing his psychotic behavior.
After the waiter had brought their drinks, bowing with trembling hands and leaving, Seungcheol spoke. Jeonghan didn’t bother moving his head towards him, just listening as he watched his corrupted world take shape within the dining room. He saw the familiar dark figure of a woman smile widely at him, mocking him.
Jeonghan traced his fingers on the rim of his glass cup, shifting his deranged gaze towards Seungcheol, looking disinterested. But it was an odd expression, as usual, a faint twisted smile on his face while his eyes looked clouded. No matter how times he’s done it, it always twisted someone’s stomach to see such a foul expression that held torment of others, and himself.
“You know, I don’t understand why they choose to serve such bland drinks,” Seungcheol said, attempting to start a conversation as he took his cup, looking at the liquid. “What do you think, Jeonghan?”
“I’d prefer it to be bland. Having it too strong or too sweet wouldn’t be good for many. And personally, it’s best I avoid these types of drinks. Not that it’s addicting like it is for others, but it’s not good for my health,” Jeonghan answered, taking his cup and looking into the clear liquid. “But you knew that already,” His eyes slowly raised from his cup towards Seungcheol, that same faint twisted smile present on his ghostly white face. “Just like you know everything else, right?”
“I suppose,” Seungcheol sighed, taking a sip of his cup. Another long pause, another long excruciating anticipation for the inevitable conversation. And then it was broken, a scoff from The Purple Rose leader.
“It’s pointless attempting to start a friendly conversation. You know this. Yet you try in hopes for something that’s been long gone,” Jeonghan said, taking a swig of the drink. Although he was still mistaking his hallucinations as reality, he could still differ Seungcheol from it, looking deep within his eyes to see the small, fragile man he only saw once. “So let’s get straight to topic, shall we? Makes this less difficult for you and me,”
“Right…” Seungcheol placed his glass cup on the table, sitting straight compared to Jeonghan who was slightly slouching in his chair, gently moving his glass in a circle, the liquid following his motion.
“What do you want?” Jeonghan questioned.
“Pardon?”
“You offered me this ring,” Jeonghan began with a bitter voice, pulling out his hand from his pocket, displaying his hand with the ring glistening on his finger. It was shimmering, the chandelier lights reflecting off from it. “You gave me this engagement ring with little details. You gave me NO explanation as to what you want in exchange in my hand in marriage, just to merge our groups together,” Jeonghan lowered his hand, placing it onto the table, letting out a heavy sigh.
“You have the fucking audacity to ask for my hand in marriage for business. To gain power for whatever you have planned, and make yourselves invincible to any mafia group but mine. And you know fully well that I have been planning for three years. THREE years to propose to Jisoo, and you put me in this position two years later after what you did to my group,” Jeonghan’s body gave a small jolt, his blood boiling as Seungcheol ran a hand through his raven black hair, shaking his head.
“I know… It’s absolutely terrible of me to do this to you in the first place, or to even have the idea,” Seungcheol said. “I would have never chosen to do this without reasoning, but I know the consequences it has is damaging to not just my group and I, but to you and your group, and especially to Jisoo,”
Jeonghan let out a low growl, his hand balling into a fist while he slammed his drink onto the table, cracking the glass just a bit. Seungcheol closed his eyes in response towards his angered action. “Then why did you do this in the first place? Why did you do ANY of this in the first place?” Jeonghan questioned, causing Seungcheol to look at him with furrowed eyebrows.
“Not only do I want answers as to why you choose to propose to me, but answers to why you abandoned my group when they needed you the most,” Jeonghan said, watching as Seungcheol’s face drained of color, his eyes shifting to his drink. “You can’t run from me this time, Seungcheol. Not after you decided it would be a brilliant idea to propose to him for whatever selfish reason you have.”
Jeonghan crossed his arms, his leg bouncing impatiently. “Let me remind you that when you left, you abandoned everything of my group, and left them to rot during my absence. During that time I was forced back into the Asylum, my group’s base was blown to fucking bits, and the members themselves were suffering from abandonment, injuries that could have and were severe, and they had no one else to guide them but Mingyu, who was distraught and guilty, and Jihoon, who was stressed more than he already had been at the time.”
“And throughout a whole year when I was gone, you could have redeemed yourself and your group. You had ONE year to come and help my group, or at least send supplies,” Jeonghan grimaced, digging his nails into his arms that made it through his sweater, piercing his skin. “But you did none of that. You were a coward who took your group, left, and was too scared to face me again when I returned. What makes you think you’ll have any chance in convincing me otherwise? What in that damn mind of yours thinks I’m going to accept your proposal willingly?” “I don’t expect you to forgive me. Every single one of your members have the right to loathe me, to curse at me, and to throw dirt on me. But if anything, don’t blame anyone else but me. It was my decision, and my order. No one can take the responsibility of that but me,” Seungcheol began, looking at Jeonghan with something Jeonghan had never seen from him. The look of sorrow that no words could describe, fear that he buried deep within himself, and guilt. It rendered Jeonghan speechless, even silencing the voices within his labyrinth that were dancing around his head, singing haunting lyrics of murder and pushing him to commit the murder of Choi Seungcheol.
“But what I want from you is help. I need your help, especially now.”
“Help?…” Jeonghan repeated with a raised eyebrow, and suddenly, he threw his head back, laughing. He held his stomach, laughing darkly towards the ceiling as if it was a joke, a twisted joke. Seungcheol’s shoulders shrugged up, mafias shifting their attention towards the psychotic man. “Help, he says! You want my help? Help?” Jeonghan laughed, looking back to Seungcheol as he whipped tears from his eyes, leaning forward, a hideous smirk forming on his face as his eyes narrowed. “What makes you think I’ll help you out of all people?” “Don’t do it for me,” Seungcheol said, causing Jeonghan to freeze. “This is for my members, not me. Everything that I am doing is for the members within my group, and I can’t risk anymore chances… At least do this for Samuel.”
“S-…Samuel?” Jeonghan leaned back, his jaw clenching.
“Let me explain from the very start, Jeonghan,” Seungcheol said. “A few weeks before you were cornered. I’ll start from there, and every question you have will be answered. All I want you do is listen, and please consider this. Don’t throw this away on my account,” Jeonghan turned his head away from Seungcheol, closing his eyes as his body twitched, but he bit the bottom of his lip, reluctantly nodding. “Go on,”
“A few weeks before you were cornered, my group and I-”

[Breaking News]
As the Annual September Mafia Gathering comes near within a three days, The Purple Rose makes an astonishing appearance early this morning, ahead of schedule.
Today, Yoon Jeonghan, alias Angel, arrives with his group. Close at his side is his partner, Hong Joshua Jisoo, guiding three members placed in wheelchairs into the building. As they enter the premise, people are stunned at the sight at Jeonghan, cameras flashing as the words spreads around the building.
On Yoon Jeonghan's finger is a dazzling, silver ring of a red rose!
"Well, I'll be damned," Says one the leaders of the Worldwide International Mafia Organization, "Who would have known that Yoon Jeonghan, the very man who causes people to shrink at his very name, would be engaged after all this time? Really a surprise, but I can't deny that I'm proud for him and Joshua,"
As many rush to receive answers, the couple refuse to answer any questions. All the members of The Purple Rose following and also denying to explain such news.
Is it possible that Jeonghan is now engaged to his partner, Hong Joshua Jisoo? Will they announce this news as a surprise during the Gathering? Or is there something else lurking behind closed doors for the group that brings fear to all people?

Announcement
We welcome all men and women of infamous and famous groups, and to those who work individually as mafias, to today's announcement. As it is customary, as the year comes to a slow close, our Annual September Mafia Gathering will begin at 7:35 pm tonight.
Tonight, we will proceed in by mafia rankings, as usual, with new groups entering first. After everyone is inside, Bosses, Underbosses, and Consiglieres will be brought to a separate meeting room to discuss their progress of this year and to handle any allegations and disagreements against their group, and most importantly, any business that must come forth. The rest of their members will reside in the ballroom, and everyone's luggage will be taken to their rooms once handed to the staff inside.
But tonight will be unique. Not only will we welcome new groups, but we will have the honor of holding an Alliance Ceremony! After two years, we will witness two dominant groups, among the top powerful mafias of these past few years, come together and create a strong pact, uniting them.
With this, it will mark the beginning of a new chapter for these two groups, and we hope that you're able to attend another memorable moment in our history.
Until then, we will wait for your arrival.

On this fated night, the 25th of September, we will have permission from both groups to witness their confirmation of alliance, watching them complete the process that will bind their groups together for generations, until nullified by choice of both Bosses.
These two groups coming together are the infamous "Angels of Death,” the mentally and physically suffering men and women, The Purple Rose, and the sophisticated group, giving justice since 1978, E̵̙̫͍̙̓͊͑̅̊̽̈́̓͊R̴͔̬̽̾̏Ṛ̸̑̂́͘O̵̜̻͖̐͂͒̉̎̀͌̿̇͠R̸̠̤̲͓͊̒̿̓̓̆̚̕͠͝E̵̙̫͍̙̓͊͑̅̊̽̈́̓͊R̴͔̬̽̾̏Ṛ̸̑̂́͘O̵̜̻͖̐͂͒̉̎̀͌̿̇͠R̸̠̤̲͓͊̒̿̓̓̆̚̕͠͝.
Once enemies, battling each other for territory, containing a flame of determination unlike any other, has agreed to start anew. Creating this new bond, they will start to put aside their past disagreements and battles, gaining an envious benefit from one another. Together, they will reach to a peak no other has accomplished for a century.
At 9:30 pm, all will gather within the ballroom after groups have addressed what is needed. Once everyone has been seated, we will proceed with the ceremony on both groups terms. All will be recorded, given permission by both groups.
